The drinking water on the ship (FREE deck 9 beverage station) was very good. This year, I am bringing some empty water bottles to fill at the deck #9 station to keep in our room and to take on the islands.

St Maarten is said to have one of the best water filtration systems in the Caribbean. And St Thomas is part of the U.S. Virgin Islands, so I would assume that they are required to maintain their water to mainland U.S. water filtration standards. That being said, it's never a bad idea to carry bottled water with you when traveling to an unfamiliar place.

As Jody said, the water onboard is very good and very safe. You might want to fill up a bottle or two onboard and take them with you when you go to the islands.

I brought my Brita bottle which has a filter built-in. I filled it up with ice and water at the drinking station on deck 9. Worked well for me :) Had water while sunning or in the room or whatever.

It did seem that the water aboard ship was very "soft." I noticed it was hard to get all the soap off of me and shampoo/conditioner out of my hair.

Everyone should be aware that the water in the stateroom taps is not the delicious drinking water available at water fountains. Although the tap water is safe, it hasn't had the additional filtration to remove the chlorine taste that the drinking water does.
