I'd love to hear some suggestions from you guys (and gals) about where we should send Bob for his next "Send Bob" segment? As always, if we use your suggestion, you'll get to 'pick a number' (no one has one the Cruise yet, by the way!!).
Thx

You should send Bob to Washington DC to do the Air & Space museum and its annex and then he can compare his Florida expriences to DC. It could be a "Bob Presidential Hopeful Campaign Tour". ;)
Okay, NC Beast wants him to do Everest.

I assume if we post here and you use the idea, we'll still get credit?
Ok, I have a couple of ideas
1) This might actually be good for everyone in the Podcast Crew when you stay at the Grand Floridian perhaps, but I'd love it if you could schedule one of the Grand Floridian photo shoots and tell us all about it. The reports here on the boards aren't very detailed. If you all don't want to do it, perhaps Bob and Dianer and their family could do it
2) The Tampa Bay Rays are going to be at the Wide World of Sports in April - perhaps Bob could cover one of the games
3) Maybe he could cover Sham-Rock N Roll at Pleasure Island for St Patrick's Day
Just some ideas...hope you can use at least one! :)

Pete, I think that you should send Bob to do a report on the upcoming Flower and Garden Festival at EPCOT. He should pick a day having one of the better concerts. Baby boomer that he is, I'm sure he already has one picked out anyway. ;)
Later in the year, he could audition for the new American Idol attraction when it opens so that we can hear him sing on stage or he could just review it if he doesn't have the "pipes". :)

I think that a great segment for Bob would be to experience all of the recreation and entertainment options on site at WDW. One week he could do the horseback riding at the FW, the next he could do the fishing, then perhaps bike rentals. These are things I've always wanted to do, and it's always good to educate everyone on the other options available to them onsite on days when people just dont have the energy to go to the parks.

I honestly think it is time for Bob to investigate Animal Kingdom Lodge's many activities. This resort is extremely popular right now due to its recently becoming DVC-worthy. As a new DVC member, I'd love to learn about all of the tours and freebie activities available especially those having to do with Jiko, Boma, and nightvision animal viewing.
While he's there, it'd be neat to hear about Kidani Village. This is going to be a MASSIVE section of the resort with a separate entrance, pool, new restaurant, etc. Could he snoop a bit for us?
My other idea was to have Bob get some information on the unfinished section of Pop Century. We've all seen the creepy videos on You Tube; now, let's hear an update from the one and only. ;)

Hey, Peter, YOU ASKED!!
Does anyone else remember the Larry "Bud" Melman segments on Late Night With David Letterman (NBC)???!?
I particularly remember the hilarity of Larry "Bud" interviewing people entering NY for the 1st time and offering them hot towels...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQ7PMG8c2gI&eurl=http://www.thedailytube.com/video/330/welcome-to-new-york-city-have-a-hot-towel :) Click @ your own risk... You'll pee your pants...
Let's have Bawb ride Kaht Kam into WDW during Gay Days and record some DIS-TV interviews...

This might be a welcome Bawb's-eye View into that "vile spectacle of self indulgence and indecency" (PLEASE read Pete's stance... it's SO literate, fair, and well-thought-out...)
I love making fun of people who take themselves WAYYYY too seriously.... (GALPP!!!)

it would be short notice... but ESPN the weekend... i know there are some big names that are going to be there, i would have no clue who would be who... so Bawb could ask each of them, "in 10 years will people still have no idea who you are?"

Send bob tubbing and let us know how it is. I have heard of this and it sounds like fun.
Thanks for asking Pete! I have some suggestions:
Send Bawb to the Boardwalk and give us a report on all of the evening activities. There is free entertainment during the evenings from magicians, trick artists, etc. There is also venues such as Jellyrolls and the Atlantic Dance hall. A segment about the Boardwalk could be very enlightening to many listeners.
Send Bawb to Rafiki's Planet Watch at the Animal Kingdom and report what happens out there. Maybe give a description of the various areas and what Animal Kingdom Veterinarians are doing to help the animals.
Send Bawb to the Universal on-site hotels and have him report back on each hotel's club level lounges, club level rooms, and amenities. Which is the best for the money.
Send Bawb to Disney's Luau at the Polynesian (Spirit of Aloha) and then send him to the luau at Royal Pacific Resort (Wantilan Luau) and have him give us a comparison between the two. Which one is better and are they worth the time and money.
Since I've run Bawb all over the place and probably wore him out with all of these suggestions I'll stop thinking of ideas.

How about looping around the property on Disney Transportation. Going from parks to hotels, hotels to hotels, etc.

I think you should send Bob on a Day of Magic. I just listened to last week's email show and the question regarding is the magic still there came up. I think Bob is the only one who still has that magic that so many of us brag about. Not to put down the rest of the crew. But, you guys all said it on the show that Bob is probably the only one left with that type of magic. So, I think you need to send Bob and Diana to the parks and have them share with us the magic. I think he needs to do each park, too. So maybe the segment could be four weeks long, or even just cover Magic Kingdom starting with going under the arch.

I think you should send Bob to the Imagineer Dinner at the Wilderness Lodge.
I would LOVE  to hear a report on this.
Or...probably too pricey, but send Bob on a day with a Disney VIP tour guide.
I have seen them with people around the parks sometimes and I've always wanted to know exactly what they do, what they can do and what requests and perks they can provide. Basically it seems like a cool thing and I'd love to hear exactly what happens when you have your own Disney VIP tour guide taking you around the World.

Send him and his wife to DL and do some of the tours.

Send Bob to do some tours in Busch Gardens Tampa.

Bob could review the Mini Golf courses - WinterSummerland, the one at the Swan/Dolphin (can't think of it's name) and any others that I don't know of....maybe even some of the one's nearby on I - Drive.
He could give information such as times, prices, difficulty rating, if booking is required, facilities and his views on each one/his favourite.

How about Kennedy Space Center for a launch? We've been debating taking the kids and the differences between the ticket packages to watch the launch from the center, vs. the more expensive (and harder to get) ticket package to be transported from the center to the closer launch viewing site.

There are a lot of good suggestions here. I would like to second the ideas for Teddy Bear & Doll weekend and Flower and Garden. I am a Teddy Bear collector and "bearsmith" (one who makes bears) but haven't been for the weekend as of yet, and I always figure I am missing something at Flower and Garden.
My official suggestions would be more of the Behind the scenes tours at Seaworld. I enjoyed the Backstage at Believe when I was there and after hearing Pete discuss his tour, I really wish I would have spent more time on the tours. I don't think I would have understood the Believe show quite as much without having the back story they provided over lunch.
I would also like to suggest that perhaps Bob could do something which highlights each area of each park. Starting with the Magic Kingdom, perhaps and just covering what is offered in each area, talking about the theming, and the attractions, the best shady nap spots. This could help newer visitors as well as possibly highlight things that might have been overlooked. Not every little detail but perhaps more of "Bob's Picks" for each area. I suspect this would also spark some interesting discussion & draw out some trivia.
After the segment runs, we could also start a thread to share our thoughts and memories of the areas as well.

"Bob's Bar Hop Around The World"
I'd like to hear Bob review of "mature" adults night spots such as Jellyrolls & Atlantic Dance. I've always been curious are there places in the Swan & Dolphin for after dinner drinks and dancing?
"Giddeyup Cowboy Bob"
Off site as well as onsite horseback riding. Do they still offer horse back riding or carriage rides at Wilderness? I've always wanted to try it and am curious where it's offered.
"Bob's Take On Independant Films" :artist:
I'd love to hear Bob's review of a few independant films at the Florida Film Festival in Orlando. March 28-April 6, 2008. Better yet would be interviews with a few celebrities. Former attendees have included: Paul Newman, Christopher Walken, Oliver Stone, James Caan, William H. Macy, Henry Winkler, Peter Fonda and Rosanna Arquette.

After hearing his review of the Cafe Rix Lounge at Coronado Springs, we would love to hear Bob do a regular “Bar Tours” segment. The focus could be on the theme, décor, ambiance, food availability and, if any, specialty drinks (i.e. Mo-gee-toes). Magical Music Days, if and when they still do them. I have a strange facination with American Marching Bands. Might be because I'm in a marching band, but theirs always look so much more fun.

I think I am seconding the motion to hear about Bob's take on the mini golf courses (If he has already done them, will someone point me towards the right episode in the archives?) Also, I think he should do a current tour of the World Showcase in Epcot, (not the food or the stores, wouldn't want him stepping on Kevin's or Julie's toes), because if there is any way to find out every marvelous aspect of each country's offering, sending Bob in there to explore and talk with the CM's is it!

I know you guys were talking about the Arabian Knights and the Medieval Times dinner shows but mentioned how none of you had been in some time. As a timeshare owner who often stays off site I would love to hear about them and also other dinner shows in the area. When I was down there in Sept. I remember seeing flyer's for a Pirate dinner show and the wonder works show (the upside down building on I drive) and would love to hear if they are worth the time or not

This would fill in an important gap in guest information after Store Tours, Resort Review, Pool Tours, etc.
Hey Pete – how about it?

I would love a "Day in the Life" segment.
What is a typical day in the life of Bob like? (or any of the Podcast crew)
Most of us who listen can only dream of being able to wake up in the morning and decide to head over to the Magic Kingdom. The ability they have to, as Kevin puts it "use Epcot like Central Park" is really amazing. Even more of a dream for most of us is the idea that they have to go to do "work".
So much work goes just into doing the Podcast for each one of the members, and they each have other roles with DIS and Dreams Unlimited. I can image that some days they must have to put in a lot of hours. What is a typical day like? How do they research the segments for the podcast? How often do they check the DIS boards for their name ?;)
A Day in the Life of Bob...How many naps did he take? How many people did he run over in the Kaht.....video to go with this would be perfect....
or send him to the Pig Poop dropping/Cow Bingo festival to report...video of the would be great too.

Send Bawb on a "resort specialty tour"..... He'd visit each resort, and do one thing "special" to that resort..... for example....
Port Orleans French Quarter, a buggy ride and beignets
Wilderness Lodge, watch the geysers, ask for ketchup at WCC
Fort Wilderness, s'mores and campfire singalong with Chip n Dale
I'm sure others can flesh out this idea, and choose what each resort has that's "special" about it... or unique to it.

Send Bawb to the parks using a language translation unit, the "Ears to the World, Disney's Show Translator." First of all, I'd love to hear Bawb try to say that last sentence. This way he can hear what some of the attractions sound like in French, German, Japanese, Portugese or Spanish. It would be interesting to know how these units work and how much audio is really on them.
Send Bawb to a wedding at Disney's Wedding Pavillion.
Send Bawb for a trip on Kali River Rapids to see if he gets wet or not! I always get SOAKED on this attraction. I just wanted to know if Bawb is water resistant!
Nothing much is ever mentioned about Innoventions. Maybe Bawb could do a report on what's happening there, especially since there are several new areas that have just opened up. I heard they are working on a new exhibit for Velcro, but I'm not sure if that one is open yet or not. Can anyone say Bawb and Velcro?

2 more ideas..
I know WL has a resort tour..maybe Bawb can do that at WL and any other resorts that offer tours. I know someone else mentioned kind of a self-guided atmospheric tour..but since they have these and they are structured, they might be good because I know people ask about them. :wave2: Hello All!
This is my very first post on the DIS Unplugged thread. I recently discovered DIS Unplugged from my DH(Bill). For the past few months, he'd put on his Zune before falling asleep (or sometimes it would put him to sleep ;) ). I thought he was listening to music all this time. Come to find out, he's been listening to y'all. So, now we have started a tradition to listen together. He gets one earplug and I get the other. What a way to bring a couple together.
The thread "Where Should We Send Bob Next?" caught my eye. BTW, I love Bob's accent. Being a native Bostonian myself, it reminds me of my old stomping grounds. :thumbsup2 After visiting WDW a few times, in our lovely DISgreen Disney shirts I must type  I've come up with a few ideas of my own:
1. Disney's Wilderness Back Trails Adventure. We are new DVC Members and just received our first issue of Disney Files Magazine. I received it yesterday and have already read it front to back a few times. The information on Disney's Wilderness Back Trail Adventure sound very interesting:
Guests can be a little more "Walt-like" with Disney's Wilderness Back Trail Adventure, a journey through rustic woods of Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground on a cutting-edge Segway X2 Personal Transporter. (This off road model features deeply treaded tires and higher ground clearance than other Segway models.) . . . Specially trained Cast Members lead Guests in a brief orientation of the two-wheeled, self-balancing gizmos before guiding the adventurous pack on a gliding tour through the pristine Florida landscape in and around the resort.
We are staying in a Fort Wilderness cabin this upcoming April. I hope I don't see these Segways whizzing by our cabin. That might ruin the peace and quiet of being in the great outdoors.
2. Spaceship Earth (I'm a new listener. So, I don't know if you've been in it since the re-opening.)
We were at WDW this past early December before it re-opened. So, we saw it's beauty from afar. Later, we did find out it was open for a short period while we were there. But, we didn't find that out until the next day when we overheard others talking about it. :sad2:
3. Toy Story Mania (at Disney's Hollywood Studios)
I've heard rumors that there will be a "soft opening" the end of April. Having a two year old whose everyone other word is Woody or Buzz, this will be a much anticipated review. :rolleyes1
4. Sunrise or Sunset Safari (Disney's Animal Kingdom) (Again I am a new listener. So, I don't know if he has done this one yet.)
We keep going back and forth on whether we want to fork over the extra money for Concierge at Animal Kingdom Lodge in hopes of doing a sunrise or sunset safari. One, I am curious if concierge at this resort is worth it in itself for the extra money. Second, is the safari that much better than the park admission safari? A review on this would personally help DH(Bill) and I finally make a decision on our Fall WDW trip.
5. T-Rex (New Restaurant in Downtown Disney- opening Fall 2008)
We were at DTD this past December and saw the huge sign advertising this new dinosaur-themed restaurant. Now, I have a hard enough time keeping my kids from crying in the Rainforest Cafe with the gorillas making noise and lions roaring. I am curious how intense this restaurant is going to be with all the dinosaurs. I hope a review for this new restaurant in on your schedule.
Thank you for your time. More importantly, thank you for your Podcast. It is truly entertaining and informative at the same time. You all know your stuff. We plan to transfer an upcoming Disney Cruise (we rebooked onboard) to ya'll after getting great reviews from other DISers. Great job all around! :goodvibes
Warmest Regards,
Jennifer

Typing "accident" for "accent" is just soooo perfect in so many ways.
1)The word "accident" BEING an accident, of course.
Even funnier, though;
2)Referring to Bawb speak ("accent") and saying the word wrong without even trying. Just like Bawb!! I love this!! It's like holding a mirror up to a mirror.... sort of. :lmao:

Bob (Bawb) should be sent on a series of Disney transportation (busses, boats, monorail) with his cart. He can then rate/review how the CM's treat someone with an assisted device. How much time it takes, etc.
The logistics of taking the cart from the parking lots and resorts into the parks.
I am a 100% recovered stroke survivor (36 years old) and work in the architectural design field. I have become very aware of all the mechanical logistical things which have been put in place by ADA, etc. It is the people side of it which is always the variable.
How do Disney's CM's respond especially with crowds?

Oh yeah, well, it's tough where I live as it appears to be the Red Sox/Yankee DMZ, very much split between the two groups....If you can't get to the game between the teams it's just as good to watch at a bar in this area...just as tense!
Sox fan all my life thanks to my Grandfather (who was lucky enough to see them win twice in his lifetime prior to passing away this last December). I almost liked it better when they were loveable losers! (I keep editing this thing!....) You know you're a Sox fan when......you spend 16 hours on-line the day single game tickets go on sale!!!! not sure if it's been mentioned, but how about sending Bob to swim with the Dolphins at Sea World (or has this already been done by one of you guys?) Or, swim with the sharks over at Typhoon Lagoon? Not sure what Bob's "swimming" status is, but was a thought that popped into my head while surfing the sites.

That's right, almost forgot the Martin's did Discovery Cove! Brain fried! What about the sharks? :) Not that I want to throw Bob to the sharks, but this attraction sounds pretty darn cool to me and just not something I'll be able to get to in the next couple of trips.
Also, realizing how much of a "newb" I really am and how idiotic some of my responses will be due to not knowing all of the various nuances from the boards... I'm looking for you guys to simply post "NEWB!!!!" when I post an idiot question/response. Thanks!!

I haven't read the whole thread, so this may be there already, but how about sending Bawb for an Intervention. I mean, send him to Innoventions. Since he gave the report on the new trash exhibit/activity, it would be great to hear his take on all of the exhibits and activities at Innoventions. It is a great place to go in the heat or in the rain, and my family has found a few hidden gems there--it would be nice to know what else is fun.

I promise I'll do that, if you promise to post "But where has all the rum gone?" when I post something stupid.

Send Bob to NYC during baseball's All-Star Week to historic Yankee Stadium. Even though I am a die hard Met Fan and usually can care less about the yanks..they will be knocking down Yankee & Shea Stadium at the end of the 2008 season! I still can't believe they are doing this to Yankee Stadium it is a part of baseball & Nyc Culture.
You can tie in some Disney activities during that week as well.
1. Billy Joel will be doing the last concert at Shea Stadium that week.
2. You can send Bob to see Disney on Broadway Show's such as The Little Mermaid, Lion King
3. You can send Bob to The World of Disney store on 5th avenue for a review
4. and lastly Bob can get some great NYC Pizza that all you guys have been craving & missing out on down in Orlando.

I would like to see the different hard ticket events such as the P&P, Halloween, and Christmas parties so we know which ones are worth paying for. I didnt read through everything; sorry if this was already mentioned.

I think you should give Bob a microphone and send him to the differerent parks to interview cast members and visitors. Hearing reactions to Bob's use/misuse of the english language will funny to say the least.
It will be Pete's version of the Tonight Show's on scene reporter (or whatever they call that bit)
