As it is supposed to be the biggest news in their history I'm thinking it can't be Aquatica... and why would they include Aquatica in the anouncement about the anouncment (IYKWIM) if that is what it is about?

Maybe it's that they will be building new parks outside of the USA - I have heard rumours online that they will be branching out into Asia / UAE's.

Just speculation though - at least we don't have long to wait to find out!

was there not something on the boards a while ago where all their parks were being identified in the same way as world or lands

Just found this on another site, can't see them going to these lengths just for another drawn out announcment of Aquatica.

I just got an email from Ashley at Sea World Orlando, stating that a huge announcement is set to take place this Thursday at Sea World, in regards to a huge new project. The event will be held at the Shamu Stadium and is a media-invitation event. With me being here in Virginia, I will not be able to be in attendance, however, I will be getting updates simutaneously with the official announcement. Could this be for the new coaster reportedly going into the park in 2009? Stay tuned!!

very unlikely as UK is very strict with keeping dolphins in capacity it is extremly difficult to meet the requiements. Sea world would be illegal in this country if it opened here as it is in the USA.

Apparently they've done a deal with Marriott to build two onsite hotels at Sea World on the land between Aquatica and the Central Florida Parkway.

I've found this rumour on Screamscape, so maybe it's not the hotel thing, after all :confused3 .

Busch Entertainment - (2/26/08) Busch Entertainment has announced that they will “announce the most significant news in its history” for their Worlds of Discovery parks at Orlando’s Shamu Stadium this Thursday morning at 11am. A quick check of the new Worlds of Discovery website also shows that this “major announcement” will also be webcast live for everyone to see.
As for what the announcement could be, rumor has it that the announcement is so big that August Busch IV will be coming in to personally make it. For the hype behind this, I have to think back to the last rumor I reported (see below) that Busch was working out a deal to build a Busch Gardens, SeaWorld, Discovery Cove and Aquatica parks in Dubai or elsewhere in the UAE. Funny how that new “Worlds of Discovery” brand name would really seem to fit over just such a project like a perfect resort name. Of course there are some whispers about China as well but those always have to be taken with a grain of skepticism.
(1/17/08) Is Anheuser-Busch looking to expand their US based theme park lineup outside of the country? If the latest rumors are true, Busch could be in negotiations for new park projects in East Asia as well as the UAE. In fact, one particular interesting rumor about their involvement in the UAE claims that proposals may have been on the table for a massive entertainment complex that could consist of a SeaWorld park, a Busch Gardens park, a Discovery Cove park and possibly an Aquatica style waterpark as well. Of course as we reported elsewhere today, things in the UAE may not be as robust as they first seemed as many projects are being cancelled or scaled back, though I would think that there is a good chance some of this rumored concept may still see the light of day, even if it’s just a Discovery Cove park which could fit right in to the high end tourist destination concept over there. (Note: I have not forgotten Busch’s minority ownership in PortAventura in Spain however, but these new rumored deals would be the first time that a Busch Entertainment branded parks would set up shop outside the USA.

It is possible that an expansion into the UAE is planned. this is an extract of an email I received recently from a friend who lives in Dubai:-

Dubailand. Currently, the largest amusement park collection in the world is Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando , which is also the largest single-site employer in the United states with 58,000 employees. Dubailand will be twice the size.

Dubailand will be built on 3 billion square feet (107 miles^2) at an estimated $20 billion price tag. The site will include a purported 45 mega projects and 200 hundred other smaller projects.

Currently, the Walt Disney World Resort is the #1 tourist destination in the world. Once fully completed, Dubailand will easily take over that title since it is expected to attract 200,000 visitors daily.

Fascinating, it looks great! I do find the location odd though, considering the prices of the resedential areas nearby, I'm suprised that the kind of people who are buying those places would want such a thing close by attracting the unwashed masses.

Looks very interesting. I'm sure it will be a very popular attraction. I have never been to Dubai and I would like a trip there one day.
I decided after visiting Orlando in May last year that I would not return to Seaworld. Like some others I felt uncomfortable with the Shamu show and other elements of the centre, I understand the argument for the other side and there are elements of that argument I actually agree with, I just don't think these creatures should be the subject of shows.
I just wonder what animals they will be rescuing in the local area to save and preserve? as this is always been part of their "mission statement".

Tam showed me an e-mail earlier in the week showing all sorts of amazing construction either going on or slated to happen in Dubai.
I must admit I dismissed most of it (including plans for Dubailand) as pie in the sky stuff. Looks like I was wrong!

Another place to add to the 'must do' list, although we may have to wait a few years until it's all complete.

Thats what they showed us at the press event today, so if it is a hoax, Busch spent a pretty penny on a hoax

Does it not seem strange to anyone else that Anheuser Busch is building a series of parks in a country that bans alcohol in public places ?! :rolleyes1
