I usually start about a week ahead of time. My kids drive me crazy & tell me they can't pack that early but they (ok, I make them) find a way :rotfl: It never fails though; we still always forget one item! :rotfl:

I usually don't start until a day or so before we leave. That being said, I start a packing and supply list months ahead of time. We go to WDW every year so I have a WE ARE GOING TO WALT DISNEY WORLD box and it stays handy at all times. I put in the little items I pick up all year long.

Some of the things are things we will really need. Others are just "keep 'em busy while we drive" things.

Because our WDW vacations are 10 days long and we have two and a half days of driving added to that, I have to wait until just before we leave to get all the clothes washed and ready to be packed.

Oooo a Disney box. Good idea! I have a Disney folder on my computer that I keep my packing list in all the time.

One nice thing about packing for us is we are in PA. We usually go in the fall. It's too cold to wear shorts in PA at that time but perfect for FL. No problem with laundry and to save myself a little stress on forgetting the essentials....I buy everyone a pack of new undies for the trip and just throw them in the suitcase. :rotfl:

I have our "Disney" only luggage that already has stuff in it and we are not going until Sept. 2009! I will start picking up stuff all durning the summer and throwing it all together. Then about a month before we get the suitcases out and leave them out in the spare bedroom so we can slowly start packing. Oh, I can't wait until next summer when I can start doing all the above. :hourglass

We start about 2.5-3 weeks ahead, that gives us time to pack, repack, unpack and pack again.

Plus we never forget anything since there is so much time to think and remember.

The weekend before, my shirts on hangers go in last, that happens tomorrow at noon and we're off. I'm making my 'Last Minute' list as I write this, that goes on the inside of my wallet. See ya!

I'm a list person, so I start making a billion lists the moment we decide that we're going.

As for packing... I have a huge basket (I think it's supposed to be a laundy basket, but I use it for my own purposes) that I start putting "Disney" stuff in a month or so before we go. I transfer it all to a suitcase about two days before we leave.:)

I am a list person as well. I also start our resort box (that we have shipped) 4 months in advance and I start packing 2 months before we go. The boys are easy to get packed but it's me that takes the most time.:rolleyes1 I have a carry on suitcase for shoes and once they are choosen then the outfits get choosen. Too much to do so little time.:scared1:

My wife hates me because I always pack for myself the day before. I never forget anything.:confused3

She, on the other hand, starts a week in advance and packs for herself and the 2 boys. It never fails that there is always something missing when we get there from her or the boys bags.:sad1:

I usually pack all the things we won't be using in normal life a couple weeks before. Then the weekend before we pack all the rest.

I started about 2 weeks ago. Now we are 12 days out and we are 95% packed. Just a few little things we need between now and then will wait till the last minute. Just feels really really really real to finally pack!

I have started to pack for our Mar. 24-28th trip. I had the kids try on spring/summer clothes so I could get an idea of what we needed. I've just started putting clothes in my room. Will start putting in suitcases once kids find out we're going. I'm waiting for a friend to send them when she gets there next week.

I started the "gathering" process about a month ago. You know the "I need sunscreen, we need a bottle of advil", etc. So once I started picking up those items I drug out the toiletry bag and started tossing things into it. It is currently sitting in our guest room in a suitcase that I have started putting odds and ends into. You know snacks, pop up laundry hamper, etc.

I won't start packing clothes until about 2 days before. The day before I will do all the laundry and clean the house and the last items will go in the night before.

I buy things weeks before I go, like toiletries- stuff like that. I usually pack the day before my trip but throw things in the suitcase constantly.

pop up hamper:laughing: GREAT IDEA!

I love the pop-up hamper! I use them at home! The local Dollar Store carries them so I'll pick up a couple for the trip too.

Love Love Love the pop up hamper...will be getting one of those. As for the packing well another list person here. I will begin my list most likely this weekend and I do not leave until April. Lucky ones packing already have a wonderful trip. I enjoy the looking forward to the trip almost as much as the trip sometimes it gets me threw the winter dull drums. I believe I will be able to pack early since I will not be needing any shorts here till june it has been so cold.

I've been keeping a bin of things since I booked our trip several months ago. I'd buy a few things along with the groceries, like moleskin, earplugs and dramamine, and I'd bring them home and toss them in the bin. Or I'd find things around the house that wouldn't be needed until Disney World, like unused glow sticks or my son's sunglasses and swim goggles, and I'd toss them in, too. That way, all we'll really have to gather together to pack will be our every day essentials, it's all in one place, and I've had the fun of "packing" as I planned without feeling like I'd gone completely off the deep end!

We leave in 10 days and I have been "gathering" items for the last few MONTHS, LOL! I have 3 small children 5, 3 and 8 months and they all needed an entire wardrobe of warm weather clothing since nothing from alst year fits. I have been shopping for weeks :) I have a few bins that I have been using to put items as a purchase them. Luckily we are driving this time because I am bringing so much STUFF!

I won't pack until the night before we leave. We leave this Friday, so I guess I will pack Thursday night. Everyone in my family pack their own bag. DD(16) says she is starting today. Everyone else is a last minute packer!

I started packing the toiletry bags about 3 weeks ago....I want to start packing suitcases but DH says it's too early! ;)

I did pre-order our photopass CD a few minutes ago so that's one less thing to do....

We leave in 12 days and my wife told me yesterday that she was thinking of packing some of the kids' shorts and t-shirts now to get ready. It is just now starting ot warm up here in Alabama, so they aren't using many spring/summer clothes yet.

I said "go for it". I guess it kinda helps pass the time.

I start packing at least a week ahead of time and I always seem to pack way too much! I will try to control myself- we have a smaller car and can't take as much as we have in the past.

My wife is gathering now. You know, making sure we have the proper shoes and clothes. Plus, she makes sure that she gets that good carrying bag for walking the parks.

Me? We normally leave to drive down there around 10PM. I'll probably start packing around noon and be done my 12:30PM. I'll be laying down, relaxing or sleeping on the sofa by 1PM.

But our final gathering time is our now famous Walmart trip that occurs right before we get on the highway.

Where are you leaving from to be starting your drive at 10 PM? We are leaving on a Saturday morning around 6-7 AM from Birmingham, AL. to get there around dinner time or so.

Northwest Atlanta suburbs. We leave around 10PM and drive all night the night before. With Walmart, we normally don't get on the highway until 11PM. We'll get there around 7AM or so the next morning. We open up a park when we start!:thumbsup2
