I'm hoping for a room only discount for our upcoming trip april 30-may11th.Anyone want to join me? Last yr they offered one on March 8th for the general public so I'm crossing my fingers that they do this yr. The ticket upgrade doesn't offer my family much of a benefit and were not going to purchase an AP this yr.SO my best best is to get a room discount. So whos joining me on the wait:thumbsup2

we used the park hoppers discount and saved about 300.00+.. but I would really like a room discount :) ...
can you use both codes together? If not we can give up the hoppers if there is a great room discount.

I wasn't sure if there was any hope for a room only code/discount. I booked a room only at POP for 4/6-4/12 and have already bought my park tickets from undercover tourist. I think I got a good price, so the package upgrades are not helping me any at this point since I don't need a package. I've been watching for a room only discount that I might be able to apply, but either way I'm going so woo-hoo! I'll be watching this thread from now until we leave!

No, you can't "stack " codes. Depending on the discount, you may need to crunch the numbers to see which would save you more. The room only discount is a %, so at a value resort your current discount may be better, depends on number and age of people in your group. The more expensive your resort, the more you save.:wizard:

To those of you waiting, I couldn't wait any longer... here's what I just did tell me if it makes sense...
I called disney and asked about AP discounts on the rooms. Our dates are May 6th - 14th I really wanted to stay at AKL but didn't want to pay the crazy rack rate. The AP discounted rate was 164 for a standard room. I booked it!
The total with tax is 1476. The AAA total with tax is 2248. That's a $772 savings! The adult AP costs 477.12 instead of 276.91 for a 5 day ph that's a 200.21 difference. I am still saving $572!!! You can now add dining to the ap room only reservation too. I didn't need that since we are also doing universal and sea world. With the ap you also get discounts on food at the parks. I hope I am thinking this right and not wasting my money.
What do you guys think? Do you think a discount code will be better than this? That would be even better!!!
I am so excited about this trip!!!

I had thought about getting a AAA membership because I know there are discounts, but I never got around to it before I booked (partly because I changed my reservations so many times!) Anyway, now that my room is booked and first night paid for, can I sign up for AAA and call Disney back and get the discount? I'm just thinking of ways I can save a dime, just in case the codes don't come.....does anyone have the answer to this? I'm sure you do, because I've never seen so many Disney experts!!! I love it!

No! This is a way better rate than the FL resident one that I had previously booked for the Coronado (159 a night)....
Thank you for the heads up...I changed my ressie and I'll also be at the AKL (164 a night) 5/9-5/11.

Hi everyone -- I'm in on this waiting game. We are booked at the Poly for April 18-23. The upgraded water park and park hopper tickets didn't interest us because we aren't going to the water park. We have never stayed at the Poly as a family and really want to enjoy the pool there. It would be great to get some type of discount but, if not, we are going anyway. Enjoy the wait!

I booked a week at the WL this afternoon using the AP. I got a rate of only $219 per day (for week days) instead of the rack rate of over $300. I'll have to buy the AP, but it's only about $200 more than the park hopper. This saves hundreds of dollars. Our week is May 8-15. Do the math. It works!
The room is Courtyard view and I requested Inner Courtyard specifically. You learn a lot from reading these threads. I'm a newbie and I even knew that I should request the Inner Courtyard view. Life is good.

I am surprised the WL is more than AKL aren't they usually the same price?
I have never stayed there but I hear it's very nice. There is a hotel in Wisconsin that has an indoor waterpark that we go to alot that has the same style as WL so we never think to stay there.
It seems like a lot of us have the same idea to go to wdw for mother's day week/weekend. See you all there! I hope it's not too crowded? Anyone been at this time before?

The more expensive your resort, the more you save.:wizard:
Some resorts have a flat dollar discount, at least for the AP rate, so you need to be careful. We're staying at the Poly. and the discount was a flat $91 off per night regardless of whether you stay gardenview, lagoonview, gardenview concierge, or lagoonview concierge. Huge price difference between the lowest and highest, but still $91/night off, so we booked gardenview non-concierge (which is the least expensive, and just fine with us!).

I just had a light bulb go off :magnify:
I saw the note about Disney Visa offering a new code for mods and OKW in late Mar/early April. Well, I believe everyone that has a package MUST BE locked into their prices by now for that time period. So that means any new offers that come out would ONLY be available to those that have room only reservations or NEW BOOKINGS. Does that make sense?
So, that makes me ponder... :teacher: maybe I should flip my ressie at AKL from a "package" to a room only at this point and wait untilt he last minute to add back the ticket (it's only a one-day tix so I don't care if I lose this; I have enough tix for this trip anyway) and add back the DDP (worse case scenario we'll be eating at less upscale places).
what are your thoughts on my light bulb AND my pondering?

I have been waiting too! We are going May 6-11. We were booked at the POLY with the free ticket upgrade. We love the Poly, but we cannot justify spending $400. a night to stay there. Now we have moved to AKL. It took $550. off our package cost. Atleast moving saved us money, but I would prefer a room only code rather than the free ticket upgrade. We already have tickets from our last stay. I'm nervous about staying at AKL. My husband thinks it is so far away from everything. I looked into WL, but DH does not like roaring forks. Isn't funny how some of us plan where we stay around food? Anyway, we do spend alot of time at the resort. I have heard alot of positive reviews about the activities AKL has for children. If they do offer a room only code this week, I may switch back to the POLY if something is available. We stayed at POFQ with a room only discount last year. We were not crazy about the resort but atleast we had the discount. Please post as soon as anyone hears anything.

I assume you mean Disney World in FL not Disneyland in CA? If so, if you're booking a room only, you can either call Disney direct or your local AAA retailer to book the room. If you're booking a package, and want the AAA discount (which will be on the room portion ONLY), then you'll need to contact your local AAA office. AAA only discounts the room rate (vs. paying full "rack" rate). Of course, if Disney is offering any promos at the time like the free hopper & water parks, you get that at AAA too but just keep in mind you cannot "stack" discounts. That is, you cannot say I want the Annual Pass room rate (i.e., $184.50 at AKL) PLUS I want the AAA room rate too! You have to calculate to determine which is the best rate for you and select that one. (A good TA will do that for you.)

My family is staying at a value resort an the AP discount is around 15$ off a nite. Were going for 11 nites so its only aroung 165$ savings. The price of an AP would not break even for our stay vs the 10 park tickets. Were not going back within the yr because were going to DL in december instead.
Hope this make sense.

What was the rate at the BC??? I love that resort. We are booked at AKL and I like it too but I like BC better.
We got the AP rate of $259/night Standard view and approx $340 for Water view. Just booked it the other day.

I would LOVE to stay at the BC again but I wanted to try and not have such an expensive trip and the AKL was only 164. It seems like no matter what our trip is at least 4k total so I am trying to do it for 2500 this time.
I just can't bring myself to do the values or mods. If I was it wouldn't be a savings like the other poster said. That makes sense.

Compared to the $399/night we were paying at the Poly it is a huge savings. I remember a few years ago we got the AKL sav view for $159/night. I think we did the whole trip including food and air for $3000. Ahhh those were the days! We actually got the Poly in fall of 2006 for 8 days for 5 of us with dining and park hoppers for $2800 and change! I am really missing those kinds of code ;)

It has gotten so expensive. Maybe it's the dining. We didn't do it this time. We are going to try and eat cheap and not have our trip revolve around meals.

Should have been more specific - no room only discounts for end of April. AP will do me no good, neither will Park Hopper upgrade - only going for 2 days. Probably won't go again until next fall. I should have tried to buy DVC points like I did in 2006 for a 2-night stay at BWV, but didn't plan that far ahead this time.
Oh well - rack rate or not, still going and going to enjoy POFQ - first time staying there!

Well I finally gave up and paid my package today in full paying full rack rate:scared1: for my room. I am at my 45 day mark so If they offer anydiscounts its going to cost me to change the package. O well disney really doesn't owe me anything. I hope the rest of you get some type of DIScounts for your dates:thumbsup2

I, too, would have loved a room only discount but it's not to be :sad2: .
I have made final payment (at the 50 day out mark) so it'll cost me a bundle to save any more money too. (Of course, they'll let me upgrade to a more EXPENSIVE package.)
As far as the AP is concerned, it didn't work out for us either. 3 nights @ $184 for AKL + $477 for an AP vs. 3 nights @ $184 for POR and no need to buy an AP because we have tix @ $35/day for Epcot & DAK. Just couldn't justify spending a couple extra hundred bucks to get the AP! :cool2:
ah well, and so it goes....

For me I think the waiting game is over since my package had to be payed in full on friday(my 45 day mark). SO it would cost me the price to cange it so it may not be a big discount. I'm sure there are other people who had to have there packaged payed off unless they just booked aroom only were not leaving to the last day in april.I was thinking thats what I should have done BUT I thought at least I should take the free ticket upgrade than get no discount at all.Plus I was worried there wouldn't be any rooms left for me at the all star sports:rotfl2: I figured if I have to stay at a value I should get one of the ones that is the first bus stop plus remodeled rooms!
On the other hand I still hope disney release GPublic room discounts for my fellow diser plus if they don't I'm affraid the resort will be packed because they were able to fill up most of their rooms without offering a discount which may equal busy parks and resorts.

Here's a thought and a hope:goodvibes. Maybe a room only public code will come out after the most recent ticket upgrade discount expires. :confused3
Last day to book that discount is tomorrow 3/21, so here's hoping;)
Either way we're going to the Poly for 8 days.:cool1:

I just changed my reservation to use the AP discount. I was going to buy a 7 day hopper anyway, but for AKL standard view, I'm saving over $650 on the room using the AP discount, so I'll spend the extra $200 on the AP. Still winds up being a few hundred dollars cheaper. Of course if a general public discount comes out I may change it again - depends on the price difference.
Although the DDE card and discounts with the AP may make it worth it regardless. We're only getting 1 AP - I'll still get my husband and son regular 7 day hoppers. We never go to waterparks so the tkt upgrade didn't do much for us either.

I just priced my AKL stay - room rate is $184/night - it was $164 w/the AP, but now I don't have to buy the AP - total out of pocket is about the same, but there are some other discounts that come with the AP, so I may stay as is.

One big difference is that with the AP rate, you could still add dining if you want to - the other code is room only so you may not be able to.
Also, the discounts are listed here
http://www.wdwinfo.com/discounts/discounts-ap.htm
We're doing Pirate and Princess, and they offer a discount for that which would save me about $15. Also, we may want to add a water park for 1 day, (not the most cost effective thing, I know), but I think I'd save about $10 there. Plus there are some dining discounts and other little things, that when added together, may still make it worth it.
I'm still on the fence about DDE vs DDP too...

I just called to get a quote with the new code and the price versus the AP price is 1656 versus 1476 the AP is 477 and the 5day ph that I would need is 276 so I am going to save about $111. I won't need dining and I am not going to be eating at any of the restaurants that have the AP discount for lunch. I do have AAA card that I can use to get 10% off shopping. So I think I did the right thing. I hope anyway.

Had just about given up hope that a general public room-only code would be out, and am SO happy to write that I just got off the phone with WDW reservations and was able to change our AP room-only reservation to the new CMB rate. No hardsell to buy the mealplan, either.
For those of you thinking it's the same as AAA, at least for the Poly in May, it is BETTER. If fact, it is the same as the AP rate, so that just saved me having to buy an AP and we weren't going to do DDE so no loss at all (I'll get my ticket now from undercover and DH and kids already have theirs).
Rack rate: $399/night + tax
AAA rate: $359.10/night + tax
AP rate: $308/night + tax
CMB rate: $308/night + tax -- No price difference for Sun-Thur. vs. Fri.

I hope that some of my fellow disers were able to use the codes. I wasn't do to the 100$ fee they have since I already booked a package and I'm past my 45 day mark. I was worried that the parks/resorts was going to be crowded since they didn't release any GPublic discounts for rooms. Now if my package shows up with my vouchers and luggage tags I'll be set.

I don't think you have to pay the fee. If so, the CM did not mention it to me.

Just called CRO and they said if your package price stays the same or cost more with the discount you don't get charged a fee BUT if you package goes down in price than you pay 50$ not 100$ like I was quoted ealier. Did your price go up or down when you added the code?

The total price went down by over $400. It was for 4 nights at the Poly with the dining package. She did not mention any costs or any details for that matter - only the total savings. I already received an email with my new invoice.

Well perhaps you DID pay the $50 change fee (I know that AAA charges this; it's in their contract). It may be that your savings more than offset the cost of the change (i.e., you would have saved $500 for 2 ppl if their wasn't a change fee but you only saved $400 because of the $50pp change fee)???
I'm locked in too because of a package and am doubtful my rate will go down but will be calling in the morning... that is if anything is left. :lmao:

I have checked the website every morning for the last three weeks and wouldn't you know it would come out when my internet was down. They did have a theme park view room only discount, but we couldn't use it because we are using the dining plan. She said we could not use the dining plan on a room only code. They did have CBR open. I called first thing yeterday morning for my dates which are very similar to yours 4-30 till May 11th and all they only had CBR open for mods.So we just kept our ressies at Sports.Come join us overthere.
I have stayed at CBR 12 yrs ago in 1996 it was almost new then and it was nice but it it HUGE to say the least. The beach was nice it is has a very tropical theme to it. The beds are the same size as the all stars so DH thought we should just save the money. All star sports was just remodeld a few mths ago and my DSIL stayed there and said that it was nice. Everything was brand new including the matteress:cool1: plus its the first bus stop and they said that made a huge difference they always had a seat.
We did get to stay in a 1 bdroom at OKW for 2 wk in September so going back to a small value resort is going to be tough. hope you find a room with the discount.

I was just giving up hope for a room only code when DH woke me up on Thurs morning & said there was a code. We had to call twice ( you know how that goes ) & I used the CMB code for the Poly May 18-22 GV. There seemed to be alot of availabilty with this code too. I moved all my dates around & could get anything within that entire week. Not so for POR, since that is the beginning of our split stay. It all worked out in the end & a PP was right on the money with the rates. We did have AAA for four nights at $1618 & now have four nights at $1386. Never mind the savings on the rack rate. It's still alot of money, boy, getting a code that I can use sure makes me feel good!! Good luck to everyone!!:lovestruc

Anyone know???From your signature, I see you are going at a similar/overlapping time to us, and we're not worried at all. I was able to get our room (Poly. garden-view) at the AAA rate when that came out, then we changed the reservation to the AP rate when that came out after we ran the numbers and realized it was a net bigger savings even after buying an AP, and then we made our third and final change when the room-only general public code came out.
So things are looking mighty good as far as room availability which hopefully means crowds will be manageable too. We love going this time of the year!:wizard:

If you go to WDW web site on the front page at the bottom right there is a little girl in a snow white costume and wording about room discounts for april and may. When you click on that it will aske dates and resorts. It will come up if there is room at the resort of your choice or give you alternative resorts. It will also list the price of each nite with the discount. I have heard in the past that there will be rooms open online but not through CRO and vise versa. So if CRO won't let you book over the phone then book through web to recieve the discount.
There is a chearleading compotition but its over the 27 which is Sunday so I assume they'll be out of there and back in school Monday. We don't arrive until Wensday evening. I think they spend most of there time at the WWOS complex for the most part anyways.
