I'm kicking myself....really hard.
So, instead of packing, we decide to watch a movie. I figured I'd cross stitch a bit and listen to the movie. Mid movie I decide to check my email. So I leave it unattended. I even LOOKED at the string hanging from the frame, but thought "oh, it's right next to Mike's head....if the cat is bothering it, Mike will notice and shoo him away."
But alas, I'm gone less than 10 minutes and I come back in the living room after I hear Nick yelling that the cat has something.
Sure enough. The dangling string AND the needle are gone. We have searched the cat's path that he took on his escape and we cannot find the needle.
So looks like Mowana is off to the vet tomorrow to get irradiated. Grrrrrrrrr.
Do NOT google "cat swallows needle." You will get page after pageof stories about cats that died, or at the minimum required surgery. Grrrrr again.
I'm so mad at myself. :furious:
cruddy U TOP.

Pooh kitty - sorry to hear that -- hope kitty is ok........
GRRRRRRRRRRRR --- poor kitty but not what you wanted to do today.....
Good Luck....I am hoping you missed seeing him drop the needle on the floor somewhere.....

Hee hee. THat was the perfect pirate: if I do say so myself! :)
I'm up....have been for the last hour. We locked kitty in our bedroom last night. After he ran around like a nut case and knocked over things and batted at things for awhile, he crashed. I suddenly woke up at 4:00 worried about him. He was sleeping soundly at my feet. He licked my hand a few times then fell back asleep. Lucky cat. I couldn't. I had a million things going through my head....and then remembered more. Like....the kids have auditions tonight and I had to dust off and update their resumes and then find their headshots (dont' think they'd appreciate if I attached pictures of them sleeping with their headgear on!) Finally, after laying there for an hour, I just got up and started working. Took a break to check the thread and low and behold, you were 5 posts away from the milestone (thanks for the set up!) It was just a waiting game, and thankfully the boards are lightning fast right now!

Good evening all - latest update at our house is that we are all packed and ready to go. Just toiletries left to pack. Can't believe it. Well, I didn't go for my manicure/pedicure today so I got all that packing out of the way so I don't have to do it on Wednesday. We have 6 bags to pack. One of them being the cooler. I thought I would be able to get away with a lot less baggage, but I guess not. I know, I probably won't wear 1/2 of the stuff, but give me a break - I'm a newbie at cruising.
Well, it's late and I have to take my FIL to the doctor's tomorrow which turns out to be a whole day affair. It's at the VA hospital and things don't move very quickly there. Wish me luck...
Chow for now...
Stacey - if I'm awake later I'll give you a holler!!!!
Prayers and pixie dust for FIL......

I wish I could find that "tips" or list thing I remember seeing like a year ago- a list of things to take with you. I'm sure I'm going to forget something just toally "necessary" and regret it. LOL
There are no regrets when we are on the ship......Look back a few pages and you will find the Megalist....

I recently (sort of) re-posted the packing list. I think it's on page 2962.
I've seen men wearing Crocs. Jay & I saw a guy wearing them in Vegas. But Jay said he thought they looked like they'd be sweaty with all that plastic. Jay wears Teva sandals, and is fine with those, so I didn't push the issue.
Yeah - BBB - what she said, page 2962.... :stir: :stir: :stir:

I brought out a small rolling suitcase to carryon. It had a small matching duffel inside of it, so I'm going to leave the duffel in it, and just put our toiletries in that rolling carryon. Right now I have all the toiletries divided into each of our bags, but this will lessen some of the weight in those bags....and give me two "empty" bags to bring home! ;) :thumbsup2 :teeth: Yeah, like they'll be empty on the way back.......
Sam came home with suitcases.....One large one to replace our mediu one ---
And one "carry-on" - about the size of a carry-on for Godzilla....so, it is going back....So, back to the stores....why did I not listen when you all were buying roll-on coolers???????

So we had a funny Disney experience
Last Wednesday night I decided we were spending Thursday night in Orlando and I was booking a hotel which I never do, knowing we were arriving late and leaving early I booked the All Star resort, we checked in and went to the room, Tarryn opened the door and closed it and said there's people stuff in the room, I opened the door and there was all there disney shopping bags etc on the bed. Went to check in and they gave us a new room so we went there opened the door and the beds were not made, dirty towels on the floor etc. Called check in and they said wait there and they will bring us keys for a new room, 40 minutes later no one was there so I went back to check in and got a new room. Third time was the charm!!!!! :teeth:
That's a first for WDW.....

Bruce was not happy with me this morning. The truck wouldn't start. The only thing that I can figure out is that someone didn't close a door all the way. He wanted to push it out of the garage but I couldn't put it in neutral ... safety thing I guess. He had to connect 2 jumper cables to reach since the batteries for each car were on opposite ends. I offered to drop Ashley at day care since we were both running late. Ashley didn't want me to walk her to her classroom. I was a little hurt. I opened the front door & gave her a kiss then off she went! My baby is growing up!!!

Hi everyone!
Boy, do I got the story to tell you today!
As most of you know, work's been a mess for about the last... month, or two. We were using land that didn't belong to us, but using with permission of its owner. It sold, and the new person would like to buy us out too, but the offers have been land value only, i.e., worthless. We have a multimillion dollar operation, not your local stripmall cleaner. Since we told them no, they've been doing everything short of outright harassment to encourage us to move. Put up a construction fence right on the the edge of the property line, effectively boxing us in and forcing us to make some hurried changes, complain to the village to get inspectors to bother us, you get the picture. And I've put up with all of it very calmly and efficiently as possible to keep everything going smoothly thru all this.
Well, the boss comes in to the workshop this morning, as he regularly does to go over things so we're on the same page, and starts off asking about my impending vacation. And he asks how we paid for the cruise, did we use our points. He's into Disney almost as much as Mary and I are, knows all about our attachment to DVC. And I said no, the one in October is half on points, but this one was all cash, paid off in increments till the due date.
He says that's good, in consideration of how far I've improved things for the 3 odd years I've been there, and especially of how well I've managed the mess we've been in lately, he's giving me a raise, effective June 1st.
And we wants the receipts for the airfare and the cruise I'm about to go on.
Yes, he's picking up the tab for the May cruise for Mary and I.
I am still a little stunned even now, and don't think it's fully sunk in yet. He got me completely speechless on that one. I still don't know what to say even now, But I specifically went to work for him as I knew he was very supportive towards the people working for him as long as they worked well for him, but this was way beyond any expectation I could have had.
woo-hoo, drinks on Mark's tab. heheheheh

Samatha, I can probably answer for ladypoo. Schools here in the south are done by this Fri. Amanda's kids were out last Fri.
So Erin doesn't go to K at the same school as 1st? Elementary schools start at K here ... some even have pre-k at the elem. schools. Emily will be in 1st at the same school she's at now.

The plan is to head out Thurs. evening and now I'm starting to think it'll be Fri. morning at 5:00 a.m. DH doesn't want to waste $100 on a hotel for Thurs. night. And that $100 could be more money for spending on the cruise.

Ang
Our schools go until early to mid-June.
Normally, K is in the regular elementary schools. But Erin missed the cut-off for K by 11 days, so that wasn't an option for us. She's been with kids up to a year older than her since she was 2 and completed pre-k last year. So we had her do private Kindergarten in her daycare. It's state-accredited, which was great. And because the local schools actually have a different cut-off for 1st grade (Dec 1, as opposed to Oct 1), she can start that in the fall.
I was actually very happy with her not doing K in the elementary school because it's half-day (and really only about 3 hours), and she's used to full-day school. So it worked out well for us.
Interestingly, the schools where I live have two elementary schools. One, called the Early Childhood Development Center, is pre-k through 1st grade. Then they go to another school for 2nd through 5th. So Erin will only be in the first school for one year. Oh well...

If we had put Dom in private school here, and her birthday was past the cut off date she would have to have gone to the private school through the 2nd grade. Laws of some sort.
Our kindergarted is pretty much like regular school. she has to be there from 8-3 just like the older kids.
the school break down is K-3, then 4-5th, 6-8 in Jr high and then finally the huge high school 9-12. We will put her in private school for the 4 &5th grades ecause of the location of it.

The one vet (the one heck-bent on surgery) did say 9 out of 10 cats in this situation will need emergency surgery. But....Mowana is one that beats the odds....after all 99 out of 100 cats can jump up on a shelf without knocking everything off of it....Mowana is that 1 in 100 that will devestate the place!!!

Watching AI, where else?
Yep! Just wrapping up here. Here are my thoughts (in white - I finally get to do that!):
I think Taylor totally outperformed Kat. I like Kat's voice - when there's not too much going on in a song. Like with Over the Rainbow... simple song, not too much activity for her voice. When the song's more complicated, her voice is grating. And her last song - that was simply painful.
Taylor, however - I just love his voice. And his enthusiasm. He makes every song his own. He lives his music. I hope he wins.
Well, time for House! Packing waits another night...

I'm thinking they all aren't full size. On the Member Cruise there were lots of small magnets being left on people's doors. I was lucky to get a few. I've got a few special ones to pass our but no where near 32!

And here are mine...
I didn't watch a minute of it... the ACM awards are on, and I was TRYING to finish packing... didn't get a lot done, but have quit for the night.
I don't think either of them fit what an "AI" was supposed to be from the start- someone who has that 'superstar' persona from the get-go... not just the musical talent, but the showmanship (including the ability to MOVE on the stage, which Taylor is so pathetic at, image, looks and charisma as well....

The usual AI whiteout..
I agree with Samantha that Taylor outperformed Kat on all three.
Kat- #1, good, but felt odd somehow. #2, I still stick to my original opinion, she has a beautiful voice, but she doesn't sing songs, she sings words. She doesn't get into putting any meaning into her singing. And even rounds off words in her jump to go hit one of those patented high notes. #3, that was an awful song, but she could have rose to it and did it far less 'breathy' than she did.
Taylor #1, really jumped all over it with the 'fun' mode, but kept in the song. #2, Good, solid performance, but not great. #3, He really outdid himself and totally owned that song. No other way to put that.
Now, my opinion is it depends what kind of segments are doing the bulk of the voting is going to determine who wins this. If it's more young adults, Kat has it won right now. If its more older adults, could go either way, but I'd favor Taylor.

Well a fine help you are! LOL
Fortunately I talked him into getting a brown pair this afternoon. ;)
I've been wearing mine all day- not the flip flop ones but the ones with holes in them and such (the normal kinda I guess?) -just to test the "no blisters/no sweaty feet" issue before attempting to wear them at the parks--- and what they say is apparently true. My feet usually sweat a lot and they don't in these- and no blisters. The hype about these is true! LOL
Anyone else having trouble posting tonight? I kept trying and I'm only finally getting thru now- all the other times it said the server was too busy. Are y'all breaking the server tonight? LOL I have just over 24hrs before we leave! ack ack ack!
I tried a pair of Crocs on today while I was at Reagan National Airport - they had a stand with all different kinds. They were OK - not sure about them - so I'll have to try them on again.....

Since I will also miss the Friday Karaoke this week...this is the song for tomorrow
Beautiful Day - U2
The heart is a bloom
Shoots up through the stony ground
There's no room
No space to rent in this town
You're out of luck
And the reason that you had to care
The traffic is stuck
And you're not moving anywhere
You thought you'd found a friend
To take you out of this place
Someone you could lend a hand
In return for grace
It's a beautiful day
Sky falls, you feel like
It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
You're on the road
But you've got no destination
You're in the mud
In the maze of her imagination
You love this town
Even if that doesn't ring true
You've been all over
And it's been all over you
It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
It's a beautiful day
Touch me
Take me to that other place
Teach me
I know I'm not a hopeless case
See the world in green and blue
See China right in front of you
See the canyons broken by cloud
See the tuna fleets clearing the sea out
See the Bedouin fires at night
See the oil fields at first light
And see the bird with a leaf in her mouth
After the flood all the colors came out
It was a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
Beautiful day
Touch me
Take me to that other place
Reach me
I know I'm not a hopeless case
What you don't have you don't need it now
What you don't know you can feel it somehow
What you don't have you don't need it now
Don't need it now
Was a beautiful day
Any day you are heading to WDW is a beautiful day!

LOL You so sound like me!
Except we're leaving Thursday morning (very early- even earlier than you mentioned leaving on Friday!) to catch our flight- but tomorrow ( Wed) I have to take the dog to the groomer, pedicure and manicure, then tak him to the dog sitter he'll be staying at while we're gone (Tramp I mean). The only thing I don't have to do is the hair- took care of that Friday (color) and Monday (cut- different hairdressers LOL). But pretty much the same tomorrow... but for the hair. LOL

I'm not very far along on packing. I'm not very far along on house cleaning either. I keep getting sidetracked by unexpected things.....found out yesterday that there was an awards assembly this morning for DS13. It was about 90 minutes long. Then my aunt wanted to go eat. I did a couple of errands, came home and not long after DS16 called because he had locked the keys in the truck - with the engine running!!!! I had to go take care of that. Then DS13 had his 8th grade dance tonight. He danced 3 times. I did accomplish something cruise related today - I did make two fairly simple door signs...........priorities ya know :thumbsup2
Bryce "graduates" from 8th grade tomorrow night. Thursday I was planning on going to a friends son's high school graduation but she gave me an out! Besides, it's outside at 6pm - have to arrive by 5 or earlier to get a seat - and it's supposed to be 106 degrees. Yes, it's true!! Your pixiedust: for Mowana has PAID OFF!!! He gave us a beautiful, yet stinky, present tonight approximately 24 hours after last night's incident! AMAZING a cat could swallow a needle without difficulty! But he did it. And defied the "9 out of 10 cats need emergency surgery" odds!!
And, btw, Mike listened and didn't hear ANY heart murmur....and he's really good at picking up on those. :)

Us, too. Tonight I'll finish the *other* stuff... tomorrow night is hair & nails... Thursday night will be last minute laundry... Friday night is JB's... (though its gonna be an AWFULLY early night if we're meeting at 4... I'll be the one saying "I'm too EXCITED to sleep"...)
I can't get anything accomplished at work... no one is in the office... peace and quiet is a great thing in theory, but, in reality, it totally kills all desire to do ANYTHING productive. I think its time for lunch.
Come helpe me at the office today --- pleeease??????

Monica, I'd be a willing victim as long as I don't have to do any weird poses. I'm bony too so that should help. I'd volunteer my bony daughter but she'd giggle & wiggle too much too. That reminds me of the Jello commercial.
Ang
no weird poses - just stand there... reaching for your toes once or twice. Besides, Mike being so wiggly-(I don't blame him - I'm not efficient yet), it was an anatomy lecture - "Wait, let me feel - cool!" So, it was even slower....But, I'm glad he was interested.

Good morning cruisers!!
It's not long now before the "double scoop group" is together. We have one Spring Concert to get through and then straight from there we're off to the JFK Ramada Inn for a night's sleep and then off to Florida on Thursday morning. We are just about to bust in this house. Can't believe it's actually here. Only a few "things" to go into the suitcases. All clothes are packed. I've decided NOT to take the laptop since most of the time is DISing lately and I won't be needing to do that for the next week. I could always use the condo's computer.
Stacey - Guess what? I slept through the entire night last night!!! Hope you're still not mad at me about the other night. :guilty:
Happy Birthday Maggie!!! :cake: :bday: I'm sure it's going to be a great one.
Mary - like the set-up you have on the treadmill. That might just make me stay on it longer.
Mike - I like your article and especially the one about the car seats. We have a neighbor that does that. But nothing will ever happen to her kids.
I need your advice - should I go and get the manicure/pedicure today or wait until tomorrow and have it done at the Marriott? I'm a little confused as to what to do. If I have it done today, I won't be much help later on in the day. Can't pick up luggage or anything like that. What do you say? HELP!!

American Idol white out.....
Dialidol has Taylor sitting pretty.
I think that last night showed something important....
that while Katharine has a beautiful voice, she only has select songs that she can do REALLY REALLY well.....I guess I wasn't expecting the idols to do repeats, but of what Katharine did, those WERE the two best songs she did this year, IMHO. But....when presented with a brand new, challenging song, she could not rise to the occasion....maybe b/c no one had ever done that song before so she didn't know who to "copy" or "emulate."
Whereas Taylor put himself into his last song and it was "all Taylor." And he rose to the occasion--singing all songs solidly.
I know Kat fans will cry foul b/c her song was "more difficult" but that's just sour grapes. :(
I thought, if memory serves me correctly (which it rarely does) that on the last night of competition the two idols sang the SAME song....last year it was Bo and Carrie BOTH singing "Inside Your Heaven." To me, that makes MUCH more sense so we can compare apples to apples. :confused3

That is SO NOT FAIR! Jay would NEVER make me a cool setup like that!!!
It really is a neat set-up, isn't it? I'm not sure I could multi-task like Mary. Walk and type at the same time? I don't think I could do it!! :rotfl2:
ohiominnie: ITA with your "white out" :thumbsup2
Back to packing....... :hyper:

OK guys- I don't know if I'll get a chance to post again. I am going to go and get my manicure/pedicure right now. Just found out that Marriott doesn't have a salon on site. Yikes!!! I was going to wait until tomorrow. Good thing I called.
The group is getting smaller and smaller on-line. Slowly but surely we're all heading to the "sunshine state" for some R&R. Can't wait til Friday night and of course, Saturday.....
Chow for now people. Safe trip to everyone.

Ohiominnie,
Thanks for the AI input. I wasn't able to see the show and didn't tape it.
