I've been up for a while. Bruce is out runninng & the girls are still sleeping. The must be wiped out from swimming at a friend's neighborhood pool last night. I'm poking around the net trying to get scrapbook ideas. I'm waiting on the photo cd from Mark before I get started on some page ... just in case someone else has some photos that I can include. I'm enjoying the peace & quiet right now.

Not holding anything up for me. Send it along when you're ready. I set the due date based on the day when I thought I would be ready to start seriously working on it. Welp, I'm not quite ready yet anyhow, catching up on things here is taking longer than I'd thought, and others have had delays in getting theirs to me too so, no worries.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts.... Just got back in from Wheeling. My dad's doing OK... He had a fairly major stroke and can't move the right side of his body much. He can, however, eat and swallow well - so that's a major plus. I stayed a few hours and watched TV with him and my mom until I headed back so I could finish the end of my shift here in Charleston. My dad's 87 almost 88 and wasn't in the best of health to begin with.....

Thanks again!

Good morning all!

We are hoping to have a lazy day today, although I'm sure I'll be cleaning house. I promised the girls some water time today. So, we'll either go to the Y or let them use the slip-n-slide in the backyard. We went to Mass last night so we don't have to do that this morning.

Prayers and Pixie Dust for all those members of our "family" out there that need them.

I have a house full of company this weekend and haven't had much opportunity to check in. My parents and both of my brothers are here. My oldest brother has had to cut his trip short and will be leaving tomorrow. He has to get on a flight on Tuesday for Manchester, England. My youngest brother will be here until Tuesday night and then my parents are driving back to Austin on Wednesday. We go into a 4 day swim meet starting Thursday.

We have been looking at new cars lately. Charley drives a GMC Jimmy which doesn't get very good gas mileage, so we are looking at a Hyndai Sonata that gets much better gas mileage. Haven't made a deal yet, not sure we will, but who knows. Still looking for an older car for DJ

We have not heard from Matt this weekend since he is on a three day raft trip. We do know that the guy going with him broke his leg, but decided to go anyway. He should be off the river this afternoon and home tonight so maybe a call tonight.

Here is his week three report (one week late):

Sunday 6/18: I woke up this morning at seven, which was before anybody else, so I went online to check my email. While I was online Sergio the brother messaged me, he thought I was the sister. I told him I was not and we just talked. He is currently in Paris, France and is getting bored of it. After everybody woke up, I found out that I was not going to church I was to stay and watch the house. When they got home, I went out side and played soccer. Then it started to rain, so I came in got changed and went to the mall. While at the mall, I watched the movie Poseidon, it was ok but nothing special. After the movie I came home and made dinner. For dinner we had chicken Marcella with out Marcella wine and two of the spices. For the wine I use a Cabernet Sauvignon and for spices I used random ones that I have cooked with before. The chicken was too thick so I had to keep adding extra wine. The dinner was very rich! After dinner, the family watched television while the sister emailed her cards out.
Monday 6/19: I had pancakes for breakfast and then went to school. Today we learned something new and at ten, we took a break and watched the first half of the 10 O'clock soccer game. When we left, it was still 0-0, so I decided to check my email and received a tear jerking letter from my sister Lisa. I the came home and did my home work and played soccer until the rest of the family came home. We then had the leftovers of lunch for dinner, then the family played risk. Then we all went to bed, because non of use got a good night of sleep last night because of the dog barking (thank you molly for not barking).
Tuesday 6/20: At school, we watch the whole Costa Rica vs. Poland game. This was Costa Rica's last game in the world cup. They ended up losing the game 2-1 and came in last for their group. Then we worked on some Spanish grammar. I then went to a café for internet and lunch. I then rode the bus home and did my homework. Since it was not raining, I decided to play soccer. After the game, I had to go to the supper market with Claudia because Claudia cant carry the bag and look in the news paper for cute guys. For dinner, the family had tacos. I than watched television with them. I got bored from Claudia using the computer, the phone, and the television at the same time. So I went to bed, it was only eight.
Wednesday 6/21: For breakfast, I had watermelon and bread with butter. At school today, we worked on the parts of the body. There are 46 parts for me to remember in the four days that I am in Nicaragua. While talking to the mother I found out that, we are leaving tomorrow at 2:30 in the morning and that it is a nine-hour bus ride. During my school break at ten, I watched the rest of the Mexico vs. Portugal game, Portugal won 2-1 but it was very exciting with two penalty kicks. After the break, we continued to\ work on the conjunctions of verbs. After school, I took the bus home and started to work on remembering the body parts. Since nobody was home, for lunch I had rice and meat. I then played soccer for one hour. Afterwards, I had dinner with the rest of the family, which consisted of spaghetti and garlic bread. Then the sister did homework, I studied, and the mother watched television. I will be going to bed a little late tonight so I can sleep for most of the trip tomorrow.
Thursday 6/21-Monday 6/26: I was in Nicaragua, with my family. It was excessively hot, it consistently reached 104oC. For the four days, we spent a lot of time in Managua (the capital city) and Saint Thomas. The family needed to give paperwork to the other family members that we were visiting. Well there I got sick, because I was so dehydrated.

This one in particular had me grinning. No wonder he dehydrated. I googled the conversion for 104 degrees Celsius (since I'm not so good at converting temperatures in my head) and got:

104 degrees Celsius = 219.2 degrees Fahrenheit

Good Morning All - We are back from a relaxing 3 day weekend at Coronodo Springs - had a good but too short break. We we able to get away on Friday and checked into the hotel right before the lines started to wind outside the building. We had a corner room in the Cabana section close enough to the pool and El Centro but still quiet.

We stopped by the Dig Site to admire the temple - after our visit to the ruins at Costa Maya we had a new appreciation for the re-created fantasy temple....After a quick stop at the Tiki hut, we drove to downtown Disney for shopping and a stop at Raglan Road, the not-so new Irish Pub. We had never had the chance to stop-in. Disney is doing construction at Pleasure Island and it was closed until 3:00....Not sure what??? Anyone know?

The large lake is full of snails and we saw limpkins wading and eating their only food....One pair was a parent and baby...

The pub is huge - it was apparently constructed in Ireleand and brought over The beers on tap are a wide variety of traditional pub beers, Smithwick's, Guiness, Murpheys, and any, many more....The food was not what I recall in Ireland. Very upscale. We had the salom appetizer, creatively displayed on folks, upright on a wooden board. We shall have to return in the cooler weather, as Irish Pub food is very heavy for south florida 90 degrees.

Back to CS for a nap before dinner - and then to the Mayon Grill for a delicious meal. We like the MG, some do not. They display had Chilian Sea Bass. It was not on the menu, but chef fixed a whoel fish for us which we shared. So tender, so delicate and the sauce was perfect, a light tomato with vegetables. Shared a bottle of Banfi chanti....Yummy.... No fireworks, for us, the actual purpose of the trip.

The next morning, I actually ae breakfast - salsa on eggs will do that to me. We trecked back tot he pub to watch the World Cup. England vs. Portugal....what a scream...I am glad we went even though I swear we were the only American's in the place. And the only couple not wearing white and red.....England lost, sorry to say....

We had counted on seeing the shutle but bad weather cancelled. The heavens opened when we made it back to the hotel, and we were forced to spend extra time at the Dig Site......

Dinner that night at the MG was disappointing....no fish, the snapper were huge and too large for the 2 of us, the service, unlike the night before, was poor. The food was good, just not what we had antcipated. Our first poor experience at that resturant which I still recommend.

Sunday - up for Church at the shrine and then over to JB's for lunch with the Scubas....minus Matt. The Scuba family were waiting in the DD shirts, we were wearing Twice the Magic. No rock shrimp....a ploy on behalf of management for us to return, I think. We were able to catch up in person and I never did remember to tell Jim I had a bottle of Fairy Tale in the car.

The journey home was long, it rained the entire way and was, what we call a "gray day".....now, time to return to work.

Hope everyone else had an enjoyable, heathy and safe weekend. I will go check.

Laura, sorry to hear about your loss today. I'll keep your family in my prayers.

Angie, all of my close friends have always called me Ang. I have never been Angela, except for when I was in trouble - then it was Angela Marie!!!

Great pics Stacey!

Our weekend went way too quickly. We spent a little time each day at the pool. That was nice but the house is showing it (no housecleaning was done). Guess what we'll be doing on the 4th??? Cleaning house!

Sad news from the Northwest. My dad passed away yesterday afternoon. He struggled since last Aug after a surgery. He was in a lot of pain and is now, we know, in a much better place. Sad for us since we will all miss him, but not sad for him.

Virgil, prayers for your dad as well. Hug him.

Angie,

Welcome to the group.

For dinner we had chicken Marcella with out Marcella.

After the game, I had to go to the supper market with Claudia because Claudia cant carry the bag and look in the news paper for cute guys.

After school, I took the bus home and started to work on remembering the body parts.

Since nobody was home, for lunch I had rice and meat.

By the time the race starts, most of his work is done... until the checkered flag waves... then they've got 1 hour (to the MINUTE) to get all the 'overbeveraged individuals' out of there... he fell into bed around 2AM on Friday night/Sat AM, and 2:30AM Sat night/Sunday AM... only to get up and go back to work a few hours later. Hi all - another day at work....

Happy 4th - and thanks to all the vets and those serving (especially to my son Jason serving in the US AirForce in England)....

Monica - Kristin has been working 10 and 12 hour days in preparation of the launch - she so wants it to go up today.... (of course she is excited to be working on the 4th as she gets double time.... :rotfl: )

My dad is doing fair... probably had another stroke on Saturday night - but is back being able to lift his arm and his leg.... Speech is quite slurred. Frances and Lauren made the trip up yesterday to see him - he was quite happy to see Lauren....

Here is Matt's recent report. It is a little weak, but it is something. :cool1: He gets to go to school today because CR only celebrates soccer games, not our 4th!

Tuesday 6/27: I took it easy on breakfast and only had bread and water. T hen went to school were I found out that my teacher broke is leg over the week end and would not be able to teach today, so I was free to go. I tried to get caught up on my emails and on the soccer matches from my five days in Nicaragua. I also went to the mall to see if there were any movies that I had not seen yet, there was none. I then had a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch, with a coke. I came home and played a little soccer but, was having to much fun watching this 50 year old guy just out play the collage kids on the other court. Finally I came home had spaghetti and went to bed.
Wednesday 6/28: I had pancakes for breakfast then went to school were I had the owner teach me because m teacher called in hurt again. We talked about a lot of tings from cruises, to my summer, to were I would like to travel to most in the world. After that, I went to the internet café, had a hamburger and went on the internet. I like this café over the one in the mall because although they don't speak English they run a café that fells like home. Like one day I bought a pizza at the place next door and brought it over there because I was going to use the internet and had no where else to eat. They saw me come in and gave me a plate to use and a glass of water ate no extra charge. The café is also less then half of the other café in the mall. After the café I came home played some soccer and went to bed at around 11.
Thursday 6/29: I had cereal for breakfast and for class today I had a collage student teach me. It was probably the most boring class I have had while I was here. After class I came home double checked my pick up information for tomorrow and packed. I needed to pack for three days. I checked the forecast it is suppose to rain tomorrow and then be sunny for Saturday and Sunday. I watched some tv with the family then I am going to bed early because I have to be at the Mall of San Pedro at 6:30 tomorrow morning.
Friday 6/30- Sunday 7-2: On the Río Pacuare 3 Day Trip, you'll enjoy one of the most amazing rainforest experiences possible - breathtaking beauty far removed from civilization's rush and heart-pounding excitement. It is certain to be a highlight of your stay in Costa Rica. The Pacuare River is one of the top five rafting rivers in the world for its scenery and rapids. This tropical river is a trip of pure magic, unsurpassed beauty, wildlife and exhilarating rapids.

Day 1 You'll depart San José early in the morning, stopping for a delicious breakfast, at our New Ríos Tropicales Operations Center, before arriving at the river. Once at the river, your friendly and professional guides will load your gear into dry bags, prepare the equipment and give you complete safety and paddle instruction. The first day's Class III rapids welcome you to the Pacuare gorge's charm as you raft deep in the heart of primary rainforest. While your guides prepare you a hearty picnic lunch on the riverbank, you'll be led through the jungle to an enchanting waterfall and pool to swim. Before you know it, you'll arrive at the award-winning Ríos Tropicales Lodge where you can spend the afternoon relaxing, hiking or soaking in our waterfall and pools. Nestled in the jungle on our 1,000-acre private reserve, the lodge offers you all the comforts you need in "Cabecar Indian" style bungalows. Private single and double rooms are spacious with clean linen, and there are modern bathrooms and showers. Electricity is generated by a self-sufficient hydro-plant. Happy Hour will put you in the mood for a tropical evening, followed by a luscious candlelight dinner with wine served by your guides.
Day 2 Don't worry about wake-up time. The beauty of the light through the forest, the sound of toucans and the smell of coffee will get you going. This day is designed to enjoy the lodge surroundings. You can choose a variety of hikes - a 4-5 hour hike high into the Pacuare Reserve; a 2-3 hour hike to nearby waterfalls and pools, or short walks near the lodge - or just relax in a hammock and enjoy nature. Experience a side of the Pacuare few people know!
Day 3 After a hearty breakfast and loading the rafts, you'll prepare to paddle down the Pacuare gorge past gushing waterfalls, serene pools and pounding rapids. A snack stop by the riverside lets you explore more waterfalls and natural waterslides. An adrenaline-packed afternoon running rapids like Upper and Lower Huacas, Cimarron, Dos Montañas and many more, will have you cheering ecstatically. Hot lunch will be served at our New Ríos Tropicales Operations Center. Showers, changing rooms, cold and hot drinks and snacks are also available. On the return drive to San José, you'll enjoy remarkable views of Braulio Carrillo National Park and Irazú Volcano.

Happy July 4thWe have had a nice day. I took Ashley to early morning swim practice and then came back to watch the Special 4th Parade here on our side of town. Dale's H.S. band marched. It was so neat and I have to admit, I had a few tears in my eyes. We had a Fire truck out there with its ladder all the way extened and it was waving this huge flag off it. Reminded me so much of 9/11. A lot of war veterans were riding in the different cars. I just don't know how some people could not be proud with that.

After that was over, we went across town to pick up Charley's new car. We went ahead and traded in the Jimmy for a Hyundai Sonata. It has a great warranty, came with lifetime oil changes and a $500 costco gift card (yea!!)

My parents left late this afternoon and now my brother is going to be leaving in about 1 1/2 hours. Everyone will be gone and we will start trying to get everything back together.

I sure wish I could take off another day!

Good morning, everyone. Happy hump-day. It's a cool morning here, in the 60's with a high around 80 today. We had some rain for the 4th here, but didn't have any plans. Caleb watched about 8 different fireworks shows from our second floor bedroom window last night. The rain had stopped, and we could see fireworks as far as 50 miles away. It was quite a sight to see the western horizon dotted with red and white bursts of color for about 45 minutes. Back to work for us today.

Mark and Mary, Caleb was up in your neck of the woods last week with his church camp group. They took Amtrak to Chicago for a day and went to Chapel in the Sky (I had never heard of it before), Field Museum and Navy Pier. It was the highlight of his week at camp. I guess we'll have to plan a family trip to go see the King Tut exhibit at the Field before the end of the year. Too bad that Chicago traffic intimidates me too much to enjoy the anticipation of a trip up. Pehaps we'll have to hop on Amtrak, too.

People, people, people!! We were almost on Page Two!!

Sorry I've been sort of MIA. Mostly this darn baseball. All I do is run Jared back and forth to the baseball field. I guess it's no wonder my license plate says "2 N FROM"

As much as it was an honor for him to be nominated and chosen...I will be so glad when it's over. I'm sick of it. The first game is tomorrow...we may be seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.
But...all the plans I had for getting doctor appointments and things like that taken care of this summer, have flown out the window.

And I'm really not happy that school starts on August 10th. Way too hot still, and way too early. But...no one asked me my opinion.

I guess the good thing about school starting is that I'll have some peace and quiet again.

Having everyone home for a long weekend just about drove me nuts. I never turn the TV on when I'm home, and for the last four days (heck, all summer!) the thing has been running 24/7.

Anyway....another long day.......just wanted to say "HI"

Good article Mike!! Thought provoking insight!

I thought this was kind of funny!!

The Middle Wife
By an Anonymous 2nd grade teacher
I've been teaching now for about fifteen years. I have two kids myself, but the best birth story I know is the one I saw in my own second-grade classroom a few years back.
When I was a kid, I loved show-and-tell. So I always have a few sessions with my students. It helps them get over shyness and usually, show-and-tell is pretty tame. Kids bring in pet turtles, model airplanes, and pictures of fish they catch, stuff like that.
And I never, ever place any boundaries or limitations on them. If they want to lug it in to school and talk about it, they're welcome.
Well, one day this little girl, Erica, a very bright, very outgoing kid, takes her turn and waddles up to the front of the class with a pillow stuffed under her sweater. She holds up a snapshot of an infant.
"This is Luke, my baby brother, and I'm going to tell you about his birthday. First, Mom and Dad made him as a symbol of their love, and then Dad put a seed in my Mom's stomach, and Luke grew in there.
He ate for nine months through an umbrella cord."
[She's standing there with her hands on the pillow, and I'm trying not to laugh and wishing I had my camcorder with me. The kids are watching her in amazement.]

"Then, about two Saturdays ago, my Mom starts saying and going, 'Oh, oh, oh, oh!' " [Erica puts a hand behind her back and groans.]
"She walked around the house for, like an hour, 'Oh, oh, oh!'"

[Now this kid is doing a hysterical duck walk and groaning.]
"My Dad called the middle wife. She delivers babies, but she doesn't have a sign on the car like the Domino's man. They got my Mom to lie down in bed like this."

[Then Erica lies down with her back against the wall.]
"And then, pop! My Mom had this bag of water she kept in there in case he got thirsty, and it just blew up and spilled all over the bed, like psshhheew!"

[This kid has her legs spread and with her little hands are miming water flowing away. It was too much!]
"Then the middle wife starts saying 'push, push,' and 'breathe, breathe.' They started counting, but never even got past ten.
Then, all of a sudden, out comes my brother. He was covered in yucky stuff, they all said it was from Mom's play-center!, so there must be a lot of stuff inside there."
Then Erica stood up, took a big theatrical bow and returned to her seat. I'm sure I applauded the loudest. Ever since then, if it's show-and-tell day, I bring my camcorder, just in case another Erica
comes along.

Good morning everyone - remember me? Guess I've been super busy around here with travel baseball and being "the entertainment committee" for the kids. I don't know why I only signed them up for 1/2 day camp. What am I stupid or something? DON'T ANSWER THAT!

How is everyone doing? I'm sorry, but I am NOT going back and reading 100 pages or so. Anything I should be made aware of?

Not much going on around here to really write about. Just summer stuff and a lot of rain in these parts of the country. I'm sure y'all have read or heard about it. Hey Sue, are you OK over there?

Got my CC number and package though. I haven't really even checked out the CD that came with it. Maybe I don't want to cause it's got all stuff from CC and it would make me miss it too much.

Guess I better get going. Believe it or not, I have to iron some clothes now. Scary isn't it? Having to get up early to make hubby's lunch and then iron before the kiddies get up. What a life....calgon - take me away.

hey Stacey - guess what? I haven't been waking up very much at night. Sorry...I kinda miss our little chats, but a full night's sleep is very important at my age. :lmao: You know what I mean?

Chow everyone. Just wanted to check in with y'all and give a shout out to ya. Take care and I'll pop back in as soon as I can.

Hello all! I've been busy, getting ready for our trip to DL next week, and getting things squared away work wise here.

It's reported to be very hot in LA, and the parks very crowded. We were told not to leave DL between the parade rehearsal Saturday morning, and the actual parade Saturday evening, because we might not be able to get back in! What have we gotten into? Thanks, Susan....mine aren't nearly the quality Kevin's are, but I do feel lucky to have caught that "star" at WDW.
I sat there on the 4th, taking picture after picture, never got a good shot, and then felt cheated out of the fireworks, too. Not the same looking through the lens!

We've had two cloudy days in a row now. No rain...but cooler and cloudy and that in itself is a blessing.

Our community theatre group is gearing up for opening Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat next Thursday. John, as Tech Director, is in charge of the set design, light design and sound design. He took the week off from work and is busy working getting the stage set up. Lots of long days and late nights for him this week. He has a wonderful woman who is doing all of the artistic work fulfilling his vision and it is really looking great!

Maggie is in seventh heaven because she's even welding a paintbrush and roller helping out. Mike and I aren't quite as enthusiastic or as gifted, but it's all hands on deck to help when John is in charge!

I've managed to borrow a sewing machine and am peicing together blankets - I figured I could attempt a straight seam. They're supposed to look shabby anyway...So, no one will know the difference :rotfl2:

HEY Stacey, got another candidate!

Sorry for the long absence, but I fell waaay behind between the cruise and a weekend for races up in Milwaukee. I'm first getting to what I'd call caught up. Weekends are normally the time for me to persue the annual gardening, and they've been occupied so I had something that looked like some of the shots from excusions of the jungle to deal with. And I'm now over the worst of it, and things are coming together.

A late update on the pictures.

First, again, the guidlines, few that they are, incase someone missed it.

I am collecting pictures to combine into hopefully one DVD-Rom to send back out.
- We're already past where I set the original deadline soo... sooner the better now.
- Send me pictures preferably on cd-rom or dvd-rom, although I can scan, but that is time consuming, so the fewer of that, the better. If you're sending prints, try to send me copies, I'd hate to have originals lost in the mail.
- I am asking for $5 to cover costs of supplies / shipping out for the dvd-rom.
- PM me for an address if you still need to send something.

Sofar, I have full participation from: whnim64, ohiomouse, itdjbw, armyfam, justmestace, tinks, RachelTori, CajunGirl2, mickeymo, DVCDebb, Tinytink, C&D&F/Irene, and the Scubas.

Heading back to WV Sat morning to settle mother's estate. Won't be fun but one of those things have to do. Leaving kids in SC so they can at least have a little summer or at least Ian can work and poor Betsy is headed to Disney 15 July for a week. Thinks family friends are crazy going in July but she will suffer since they are paying so daughter has companion and they have never been before. So she will be tour guide. Just hope they can keep up with her. The 3 of us are off to see Pirates at 11:59 tonight so should be fun. Tomorrow will be crazy getting ready for me to leave. I really need a cruise NOW. This is the never ending season of baseball. They had their first game tonight...lost 6-3. But here I've been marking off the days on the calendar...and thought we had tomorrow "off". Wrong. Practice tomorrow at 12:15, and then they're going to go watch the younger boys play their game. The younger ones are now at the District Championship level. They may go all the way to the Little League World Series. Or maybe they can't...maybe that's just for the boys Jared's age. Again..:confused3

Seems to me that I read somewhere that they were releasing 2008 dates in September?? :confused3

Geesh...I don't know much tonight.

I will admit that is one reason I really enjoy Matt's time in CR. I miss him, but it sure is nice to not have to run all over the place because of his schedule.

Have not forgotten you. Just been busy. We have the house almost back to normal now from the fire. Just some more boxes to unpack and curtains to hang. Been a long month now......The 3 of us are off to see Pirates at 11:59 tonight so should be fun.

Hi DVCDebb!

Glad to hear that you are almost settled in again!

Thanks GaRRY - It's going in the book.......And good Morning All!!!!

Still trying to get the scrapbook under control.....the photo lab mixed up the pictures so I am trying to squint at megatives to determine which sunset went on which day.....Mary - remember all those rolls of film you saw? They are now all over the living room in the form of photos...why did I take so many....which to keep - which to toss.....

I have to hit the road again, busy day....then decide if I will garden Saturday morning or coninue to work on the Scrapbook......If it rains, like it has the last 2 days - rained - hah - poured - keep going - anyway, then I cannot garden. Like Mark, this is the time of year to be out in the garden.....But if it is a bad weekend, then we cannot dive on Sunday morning - what to wish for - what to wish for??????? (Yes, I know - Liver!!!!!!!)

To quote a certain Hedgehog we all know - "I want it ALL!!!!!!"

Have a great Friday......

Happy Friday, everyone. School starts here in just 6 weeks! I'm so glad that we don't have a DS that is into sports; no running around here at our house. Although we do drop him off at camp again a week from Sunday. Mark and Mary, we're trying to figure out a weekend when we can drive up to see the King Tut exhibit. Larry doesn't have many vacation days left, so we'll have to squeeze in a drive up on a Friday evening and come back on Sunday evening. For those Chicago people, where is a good area to avoid traffic, get a hotel, but still have public transportation to the museums, or is it just easier to take Amtrak and stay downtown?

Good morning all! I've been MIA for a few days. Work has been crazy. I'm ready for it to end!!!

Worked from home yesterday while waiting for the alarm company to come out to fix the alarm system. He was supposed to be there between 12:30 and 2:30 .. of course he didn't show up until 4:15! Ruined my plan to go watch Emily's hip-hop class. He ran out of parts and will have to come out again ... ugh!!!

Hope everyone has a great Fri. & weekend!

Wow.... the milestones really ARE getting fewer and farther between, aren't they!!!! I thought for sure I'd log on this morning to see who got it last night...

Mark- I mailed our pix via regular 1st class mail on Wednesday... you should have them in the next day or so. Thanks again!

Maria- Thanks for sending the picture - I knew you didn't forget- its been a crazy summer for all of us!!

Deb- Glad to hear that you are getting re-settled. Your poor DD, "having" to be the tour guide for WDW... what a rough life!

Stacey- sorry to disappoint you with our lack of chatting... should I have made each of the above individual posts? ;) I'm sure that I won't be on here this weekend. My best friend is coming down from Charlotte for a visit with her 2 kids. I haven't seen her in 3 years!!!!

She has been through a really rough divorce, and is taking her kids on a mini-vacation to FL. She can't do WDW right now ($ & time), but we'll hit SeaWorld and the beach, and more than anything, her kids just want to hang out in my pool.

That reminds me... I need to e-mail her directions before she leaves... bye!

A local buddy and I went to Florida in December and made a couple of dives off Ft. Lauderdale. The weather was acting up and the seas were a bit heavy for diving (7'-10' waves) so we bagged the pm dives. The King Tut exhibit had just opened there the previous evening. It was GREAT!!! Highly recommended. Get the little cassette players that give you a narration as you walk. I thought it added a lot!!

YO HO (A PIRATE'S LIFE FOR ME)
Lyrics by Xavier Atencio and music by George Bruns

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We pillage, we plunder, we rifle, and loot,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot,
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We extort, we pilfer, we filch, and sack,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Maraud and embezzle, and even high-jack,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We kindle and char, inflame and ignite,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We burn up the city, we're really a fright,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.

We're rascals, scoundrels, villans, and knaves,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We're devils and black sheep, really bad eggs,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We're beggars and blighters, ne'er-do-well cads,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Aye, but we're loved by our mommies and dads,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.

Send him some feedback on Mouse Matters and he might give you a "shout out" and read your feedback on his DIS unplugged podcast. :)

Back from seeing Pirates. Good movie, all in all. Love Jack Sparrow. I think he did a great job. The Kraken was pretty scary. There were a few slow scenes that could have been shortened a bit....can't tell you exactly what they were off the top of my head, I just found my mind wandering at certain spots. The thing I disliked the MOST was that I couldn't understand a good bit of the dialogue. B/c of my self-proclaimed hearing problem, I do a fair amount of lip reading. Mr. Davy Jones and the mystical Tia lady were very hard for me to understand (I pretty much missed 90% of what Tia was saying) 1/3 of the way through the movie I was looking forward to it being on DVD so I could watch it with subtitles. :)

For whoever sees it....stay till the absolute very end. There was a loose end in the movie (during the credits Mike and I discussed how bad it was that they left this loose end) but they took care of it in the short little scene at the end.

We'll be going to see it again when the kids get home from camp, I'm sure. :)

Hey everybody,

What a fun Friday night for me. My family is up the street hanging out with all the neighbors and I chose to stay at home and finish up my laundry. How's that for excitement? I've just been putting it off and putting it off....

We saw Cars last week. Very cute. A little slow in some parts but overall it made me laugh. Mater is my favorite character. Lightning was cute, but Mater made me laugh.

Not much else going on. I better get going...my iron is calling my name. That's what happens when you leave the clothes in the basket too long. Ya gotta iron them. Really bad!!!

Hi!

Just got home....what a long, hot day. Dropped Jared off at practice and went to Phoenix. Yuck. Had to do the emissions test on the Yukon and do some exchanges.
Stopped at Walgreens with the kids later, to get their passport photos done (renewal time) and the guy there was new. He had no clue what he was doing. Kept having to retake the pics, then print them, then retake. We were there an hour! I was NOT a happy camper. Went to go get help, and this smart aleck kid says "Oh yeah, I usually do them, I could have gotten it on the first try. But he's learning" And he walked away!
I knew I should have done them myself at home.

So we barely got home, and it was time to turn around and take Jared back again...baseball. Thank goodness, Jay just got home, so he took him. I think Road Rage would have overtaken me.

For those who want more of the cruise wine, I looked at the price of shipping the bottles and it's about $10 per bottle. I still have some if you want it with the private label.

But if you want more of it, you can get it from my wine guy, Scott.

His website is winebroker.com. He can arrange shipping to your address with no problems.

The wine we had is called Chevalier De Bayard. Also know as Red Chevy. He will know exactly what you mean.

If you want a bottle or two, just let me know and I'll ship it, but if you want more, give Scott an email and he'll take care of it.

Virgil - The wines that France liked were a Vouvray, Moscato D Asti, and a white Auslese. Scott has them. Just tell him you want the wines the Mike Jarrard drinks. Frances will also like a Kabinett. I don't think she had that one, but it was one of my lunch time wines.

This is perfect motorcycle weather, but DH had to take his GoldWing into the shop. It seems that they found pieces of cat food in the motor housing, not from the cat, but from the mice that she's not catching any longer. The mice had chewed some of the wiring causing $$$$ in repairs. Anyone have any good mousers they want to get rid of?:cat:

It's a slow day at the library today. I'm training a new person, and there really isn't enough work for 2 of us today.
