Amanda,

Here's PD for you pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: Have faith - things will be OK.

Sorry, it doesn't look like there are any "takers" on your kids tonight! :lmao:

Have a good night, ladies (and gentlemen if there are any out there!!!)

:sunny:

Thanks Laura! I keep trying to tell myself that things all work out...but it is sooo frustrating...right now I just feel like waving my white flag and saying I surrender you win!

We have talked about it the Med cruise. But is it a for sure thing??
And also the cost, if it is as high as some say, I don't know about that then, I think we might need to do something else? We will have to wait and see I guess and meanwhile I will feel like  this if the prices are too high!

Not officially for sure, ut yeah pretty much! LOL I have a feeling the cost is going to be bad! But even if it werent, there is no way I would want to deal with a trans-atlantic flight with 4 kids (heck the price of that alone would probably equal a 7 day cruise for us!)

It came from Shelley actually...Bibbidy...
We were saying that if we didnt go to Coz than we would like GC because then we could do the stingray city again...Shelley said that they gave her the heebie jeebies and no way no how! LOL That she didnt mind dolphins cause they were cute...someone else said that stingrays were cute too! Tadaa.....a new siggy was born you can use it too if you want to...We will not do the excursion at CC BUT if we go to GC instead of Coz we will do Stingray City again...Ireally enjoyed myslef last time and I was like SHelly, I thought they would give tme the heebie jeebs..

She hit ATL on her last 2 tours so hopefully she will do so again!!!!! the only question is ticket prices she is not known for cheap tickets...sigh...how come I am destined to live a champagne life on a beer budget??!?!?!I needd to win the mega millions...did you see it is at $212 milllion??

I don't know how you all do it. I guess I can't do two things at once, so its hard to talk to much like tonight on a reg. basis due to the kids asking me for this and that :crazy2:

simple priorites..what matters most? kids or this thread??? easy answer..ignore kids:lmao:

For sure because we only have two kids and it is costly! I wonder if it will really be more for those who live over in Europe?

How long of drive is it for you to go to WDW? I am thinking around 8 hours if I recall correctly? :confused3

Speaking of the test....

I've thought of this on several occasions. Wouldn't it be fun to have a "pop-quiz" on obscure facts that you have learned about the ppl on this thread?

And the winner gets free dinner at Lumiere's or something???

Ok, Ok, the winner gets *some* token to show they have good memories (or spend way too much time on the DIS!)

They had one for the member cruise....and it was kinda fun hunting down ppl getting information.

Although they'd have to be obscure...things that ppl may or may not remember you sharing. They couldn't be easy like "who meets men from the DIS in Vegas?" and "who is referred to as HH?"

Hmmm.....hmmmm....anyone interested? I'll put it together.

Hey, hey, hey!!! I resemble that remark!!!!

Holeeeeeey Cow! I finally got all caught up.
Welcome, welcome to ALL of the new families! How exciting is this?

Amanda, I tried to GIVE my kids away on here once...including free shipping, no takers.

So here is my reply to all the posts:
Yes! No. Not hot. Haven't seen that. Didn't go there. Can't afford it. LOL Cute pics! No Med. Drew over Louie, no matter which Drew & Louie it is. Snorkeling & ruins. Work should not interfere with cruising. Dinner at a great place. I'm sorry. Glasses..bummer. Scoopie. Makes me sad too. AND....I WILL get even with Sir Scuba.
Whew!

So I brought Megan with me to share this guilt trip...for protection and to deflect some of the criticism....unbeknownst to her. Or so I thought. She figured it out by day two...and was ready to go home. By now, she's so mad for dragging her along on this joy trip, she has threatened to put a pillow over my face while I sleep. So....if you hear something on the news....make sure that they do an autopsy. It was murder.

Not sure I miss the two younger kids yet.....but I REALLY miss Jay. Nothing like absence to make the heart grow fonder.
And at least he doesn't wake me up in the middle of the night to tell me that I'm snoring. I'm sneaking Tylenol PM into Megan's water tonight....at least I'll get some sleep.
And I don't snore, anyway.

Is anyone planning on taking the Chaccohoben Mayan Ruins tour at Costa Maya through DCL? We are thinking about doing this, since we really want to visit some Mayan ruins and it looks like Cozumel (and, therefore Tulum) is not going to happen.

If any one has done this before, or has any information on it, we would appreciate your thoughts. :scratchin
A few families are doing the ruins with David and Ivan. They run a local tour...here's the website: www.chacchobenruins.com. Our family is doing an 8:30 tour for 1/2 day. They have great reviews if you'd like to look them up on the main boards.

Hey,
I am alittle sad tonight. My husbands boss said now it might just be better if stay in Dallas instead of moving to Altanta :(
I like it here, don't get me wrong, but if we lived in Atlanta we would live closer to my family and WDW ;)

Sorry to hear that, we were looking forward to having you here. I'm sure things will work out.

Amanda,

Bridgetown is Caribbean!! Julia, you must be getting ready for a cruise, eh?!! :goodvibes

Yip and we mostly discussed cruising as our friends who live diagnally to us and were neighbours in our last house just got back from a 4 night RCCL and were very disapointed with the food and service.

itdjbw
02-25-2006, 06:19 AM
Yep, Its because of reorg. in the company so, his boss is now saying that due to the reorg, it might be better we stay here, but that maybe they can work something out?? Those darn company reorgs! :headache:

My company seems to be constantly reorganizing and our dept just did, I was one of the few moved and still deciding if it is a good move or not, I will get to do some traveling for this project, mostly to Chicago with my first trip around the middle of March.

itdjbw
02-25-2006, 06:21 AM
Yes I know all about the darn comp reorgs...we are awaiting anouncement of surplus on the 15th.....we know it is coming we just just dontknow how many and who....kinda stinks since our fianl payment is due on the 10th...one reason I have been holding off telling the kids about this cruise...it will really stink if I send final payment to CC on 10th only to be told layoff on 15th ya know...

Hopefully that won't happen and at least the cruise will be paid for - hence best to just go and enjoy it either way!!

Plus we would have to get all our cruising done as it is really expensive to cruise there, plus, plus, plus!!!

I try to pack as light as possible, and I will never forget when we went on the Halloween cruise, I had to have one entire suitcase JUST for our costumes and another one just for the treats we handed out for the DIS trick ot treat...I never want to do that again! LOL I cant believe we are only 13 weeks away! WOW

We have sat for 4 hours just trying to get thru ATL traffic on a Friday afternoon and now try leave around noon especially on a Friday so we can miss the rush 5 hour!!!

Rush hour on a typical (non-holiday weekend) Friday starts between 2:30-3:00  The window between the morning/evening *rush* continues to shrink!!

Its the same up here in Chicago which is why Mark switched to a job without as much driving. It seems like you go right from morning rush to afternoon rush with no let down in the middle. I'm lucky in that I only have a 7 or 8 minute commute to work and none of it is on a major road.

Mary, I'm so jealous. I think it takes us about 8 minutes just to get out of our subdivision :rotfl2: (that's actually me on the floor crying, kicking & screaming!)

Julia, I'm sure you've heard about the newest road project - 3 years to reconfigure the Hwy 316 and I-85 interchange. Most places I need to go require that I use that interchange  I'm either going to have to learn some "back roads" or just stay home for 3 years! :crazy2:

Just checking in all. We have been at the swim meet. Got a break for a few hours, so I decided to drive home so Ashley could rest before finals tonight. Her relay team came in first and she qualified for finals in the other three events she could swim in. So tonight she will be in the 50 back, 200 back and the 100 breast. Finals start at 5, so I hope we will be home by 8 tonight so I can go sleep for a few hours before getting up at 1 am to do our reservations (Mountain time), then we have to be back at the pool by 7 tomorrow morning and it is about a 40 minute drive from our house. We will have another round of prelims tomorrow with 3 events and will have to wait and see if she finals in any of those. She is doing well, so I think she has a good shot. Of course by tomorrow morning, she may be exhausted, I know I will.

Good luck with everyone getting resv. tonight. Will check back in later.

it depends...

Some are planning on getting there early at terminal opening (around 9:00?) to be onboard as soon as possible (around noon) Others a leisurely sleep in breakfast and stroll in the port and onboard mid afternoon.

Several also have either Radisson shuttle reservations at 10:00 or 10:30 and/or rental car shuttle plans in the morning too...

A week or so ago, we've also talked about a mini-meet at Grills before breakfast before heading to the port.

Probably the majority will be at port between 11:00 and noon...

As for us - we have plans for all three - Radisson shuttle ressies at 10:00, dh plans to drop us off at port then return rental car. Not sure which we will actually do, so went ahead and made the Radisson reservations. We're also planning on an early breakfast at Grills - or, I'm planning on getting the family up early for breakfast...I'll be too excited to sleep in!!!

MegaMillions ... we play at work ... 18 of us chip in $2 each ... actually the whole office minus 1 person. We only play when it gets about $120M ... greedy aren't we???

Decided to go ahead & get passports. I need to take care of that this week, hopefully. I just need a renewal as mine expired last year. Everyone else will need a new one. This just means that we'll have to go out of the country again to make them worthwhile.

No pirate gear for us ... too much to pack.

Good luck to everyone making ressies tonight! We still have another 15 days to wait to make ours.

Going out for Mexican tonight. I'll catch up again later.

Once again, the age limit is 5 and my DS won't be 5 until Aug. Is there a place he can go and get up close without the snorkeling part? I assume the snorkeling part is the reason there is an age limit. (But then again there is a age limit of 5 on the float rental also)

We frequent El Azteca - mainly because it's around the corner from the house & is family-friendly. They do have a few locations but I'm not sure if there is one near you.

I mentioned to DH that my sister wants us to spend the night with them the night before the cruise. Our plans may be changing. I'm going to talk to Emily's teacher. If they don't have parties on that last day, I think we'll pull her out at noon or earlier & head down to FL.

We have a Tiauana Joe's right outside pur SD but the last time we went there it was really bad and the time before so-so. We have tried a couple of others around here and weren't impressed but like the Los Bravos in Dunwoody althought we havent been for a while.

Yep, I knew this thread would have lots of activity!

I think that I will be taking my running gear, and at least running on the ship. I can just picture what my Garmin will be giving me if I do a run on a day at sea while the boat is moving. Probably won't be too accurate, huh? I imagine we would be able to run on the same path that the bikes use at CC, right? As for when I will get my runs in at CC, I guess that depends on my luck in the wee hours of the morning tomorrow. I would definitely enjoy some company on these runs.

Jim, I say sign up for the 1/2 in January at WDW. It is a nice medal and I actually enjoyed the half more than the full this year. The half was fun and fast, and there are parts of the full that I don't remember! I am thinking about going Goofy again next January, but it could be difficult to pull off another WDW trip after the cruise and the DL 1/2 in September.

Mary, I do not know if we will be packing our pirate costumes for the Pirate night. We bought some for last Halloween with the intention of using them on the cruise, but it will ultimately come down to available space in the luggage.

As far as dining is concerned, is it too late to get us linked up with the late dining group?

Good luck to everyone on getting their spa/excursion/palo ressies. 90 days and counting!!

DH says he would rather go for dinner and doesn't want to do both, he says once is enough.
So one less booking to worry about for me.

We've done the brunch - it was nice, but I can't eat huge quantities of food that early in the day!!! I would rather do the dinner -- and I want to make sure I try the chocolate souffle which I've heard so much about!!!

I'm back! If I can stay up, I want to go into the website just to see that I can do it!!! We'd like to do a Palo dinner (maybe brunch too) so I might try to get those. DH wants to Parasail at CC so I'll try to get that booked tonight/tomorrow!

For me, it's more the thrill of "look, it worked!!!" :rotfl:

Good luck to everyone :goodvibes Lots of pixiedust: that y'all get what you're wishing for!!

Everytime someone suggests something I ask DH and he just looked at me when I asked if he wanted parasail, him and DD did in the Whitsundays and loved but he shook his head as if to say enough is enough!!

I also don't eat much in the morning.......now any other time of day it's definately not a problem!!!

The chocolate souffle is devine, on the last cruise I ordered one to take to the cabin for the kids, DS ate his and DD both first thing in the morning and loved them, he does not have the same issue with eating in the morning that I do!!!

No, we are not getting into MCO airport until late Friday and will need to wait on my mom flying in from Mobile. So we are going to stay near the airport and then go to ship this next day.
But maybe we can meet up on the ship. I have not added my name yet to the list but need to. I wasn't for sure we were going on this trip until this past week!! YAH pixiedust:

As for us we are looking for 3 things:

High Tea at Palo - always a favorite of ours

I have been SO busy lately (started a new work-at-home business) and everything else going on. I would like to ask if anyone can PM me any important information that I may have missed out on in the past week or so on this thread. I haven't had time to catch up and at this rate I doubt I ever will. :rotfl:

I would really appreciate a PM about anything "need to know"- such as about any scuba changes... I don't even know if we're still a go for Cozumel or if we're booking scuba somewhere else in case we go to that "somewhere else" instead of cozumel? info about the excursion bags and if we're supposed to order them now, any info or changes to dismeet on ship, etc. I would really appreciate it and heart you forever if you could do that for me! :)

Lisa's meet was very confusing, the combined Level 8's and Level's 9 together. The judges kept changing the order of when the gymnasts competed at their event. Instead of doing the normal rotation process, they would put all of the 8's first, then the 9's. The next group of judges would want the girls in order by which gym they were competing for, etc.

Anyhow, despite all of that, Lisa was first in the all around. She has one more meet next week to tune up for States the following weekend. That is the meet that really counts the most for her.

Got Seahorse but not for the times we wanted...1:15 both days....the sytem will not let me check for availaiblity for other times...oh well.

MANATEES - This was a great trip once the people left. There must have been 8 boats around 3 sisters springs - so we snorkled the springs first - then the main canal/river.

I was swimming along and bump - here is Mr/Mrs manatee - oh my, they are so large - what impressed me was their eyes - not at all like a large cow ye - rahter - small with long starred eyelashes. But as soon as there was one manatee, the people flocked around -- too many really. I wanted to swim with them in peace.

I found a good stakeout and saw several including Mother and calf...

They "bump" you - it is said to play.....perhaps..

We will see if the pcitures turn out.

And I still cannot get Paolo's brunch.....

My dog has been outside barking and running around the house (fenced in yard) for 1/2 hour. This is the 3rd night in a row. Gonna call a hunter, trapper, exterminator, park ranger, doesn't matter. A family of something is moving around. I have smelled skunk for the last few mornings so maybe that is it. We were outside the fence today walking all around. Didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
Sue

I know everyone here wants to know this, but February is skunk mating season. So that's why you'll see lots more dead skunks on the road in February. :)

Tried for Palo on Tuesday night, but the only option was 9:00 pm....WAY too late for us (especially considering I got Tulim on Wednesday morning....if we got to Cozumel)

So opted for Palo on Monday at 7:30---might just have to double dip dinner b/c of formal night. Hate to leave the kids alone on FORMAL NIGHT. ;)

Paul

You ran the Goofy....impressive. For people who don't know, that is running a 1/2 marathon on Saturday and than running the full marathon on Sunday. Someone has to be Goofy to do that.

I've decided to do the 1/2 in January. That will be my first. I also noticed that Disney has a Race for the Taste 10K in October so I will sign up for that one. Hopefully they will pass out wine at the waterstops.

Susan go ahead and try and book. The status doesn't change from "booked" to "paid in full". We've been paid for a month now and it still says booked and let me book what I wanted.

oh yes! I just finished Eleven On Top!!! Too funny! If you like the Plum books you would probaly love the Undead seried by Mary Janice Davidson! They are even funnier than Plum....they are about vampires but it is like Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Sex in The City! LOL funny!
That reminds me Diana are you all still wathicng Buffy?

I haven't read Eleven on top yet, did you read it in softcover?? I have looked for it in SC but not seen it.
I will look for Mary Janice Davidson and try her books.

We are set for reservations. The only ""glitch"" we ran into was because we are in two different rooms, Jim is all set for Palo dinner, but the time we had requested for Jim for Palo- 8pm on Tuesday was gone by the time I tried to make my reservation. I think we are good to go because it says the reservation is for one or two people. I will call on Monday to see if we can add my name to the reservation as well. Otherwise we are good to go:

Parasailing on Sunday @ 10:30
Banana Boats on Friday @ 10:30
Spa for me on Cozumel Day (if we are there)
Lisa all checked in. (Did you notice that because we have linked dining, the names of everyone in that group is listed as possible people to be responsible for the child being registered. Don't worry, I didn't check any of your names. BUT, Jim wanted me to check Stacy's)

Funny I noticed that too and also thought about checking Stacy's :rotfl2:
I also noticed my DD gender is Male!!! :confused3

Way to go Lisa!!!

It's been 20 years and I still don't understand my wife....guess I never will.

She won't get up in the morning for anything EXCEPT for gymnastics and DCL.

Saturday morning we are up at 4 am and on the road at 4:45 am heading to St. Pete for a gymnastics meet. Not a complaint, was happy all the way.

This morning up at 3 am sitting at the computer booking DCL. Happy and not a complaint.....

But come tomorrow morning....Hell has no fury like Sharon waking up at 5:30. :confused3

Well she has her priorities in order!!!! :rotfl2:

For those of you who didn't get the Palo slots you want I have heard that they save some slots for those who don't have internet access. Just be sure you go to the Palo location as soon as you get on board. High Tea was the first thing I booked and when I went to book it both brunches teas were up. By the time I came back the Monday brunch and tea were already gone. Seems like they went fast!

They do as I called before our last cruise and was told that, we went once on board and got what we wanted.

This may be a dup..sorry, I'm having problems with posting this morning.

WE are scheduled for 10:00 Friday.

THe only problem I had was The Villas..ultimate package...maybe they were all booked? I did book the "couple (?)"...looks like just a little shorter time. We have Palo in Thursday..I'll never get the kids dressed-up twice (and still enjoy the cruise). I made no other shore excursions....I'll just wait to see where the wind take us :cool1:

Tell her not to worry, you will only replace her if someone offers to bring a really good bottle of wine/port.

I had technical problems this morning too. We were not booked as returning cruisers, so I couldn't make reservations. Couldn't find my CC card either, but it would not have mattered. Called DCL this morning and they were nice enough to do it for me, so I didn't have to wait to get hold of the TA. Of course, the Palo dinner reservation we wanted (Tuesday) was gone by then, and there were no brunch or high tea times showing at all. So I got one on Thursday, since Tuesday was the ONLY missing day. Also booked the Seahorse Snorkel for Sunday afternoon and the Tulum tour for me at Cozumel. Still not 100% certain about that, but at least I can now go if I want to!

It was really strange to see all of these names in the list to pick up DS from the lab. It was especially strange to see the last names of everyone.

Love the Janet Evanovich 'Plum' series, but Twelve Sharp isn't due out until the end of May; not sure it will be out in time for the cruise.

Love the Janet Evanovich 'Plum' series, but Twelve Sharp isn't due out until the end of May; not sure it will be out in time for the cruise.

Here's a few more to try in a similar genre...

I'm also hooked on Jennifer Cruisie's books - similar goofy romantic mystery genre... Added bonus - she's a BGSU grad and teaches at OSU - or is it the other way around - don't remember...

Julie Garwood's suspense books are good too - I also like her earlier romance stuff. Steamy, goofy but strong female characters...

Kasey Michael's "Maggie" series is also good - 1st is Maggie by the book...

For all you foodies - Diane Mott Davidson's "Goldie the Caterer" mysteries are a good, fun read - complete with recipes... :thumbsup2

Sharon Kahn's "Ruby the Rabbi's wife" mysteries are also light and fun - the titles are hysterical...

Crossword Puzzle fans might also like Parnell Hall's "Puzzle Lady" mysteries - 1st is "A Clue for the Puzzle Lady - fun, goofy and each mystery is complete with a crossword puzzle or some type of word puzzle...

o.k. - back to laundry...otherwise I just might go to the library and get another stack of books...between reading and DISing - I'll never finish the housework...

We're all booked on this excursion. Just don't tell Kelly that you "land" in salt water. She can swim like a fish, but HATES salt water.

Glad Lisa had a good meet too! Was it really loud there yesterday? I heard there was also going to be a cheerleading competiton on the other side of that blue curtain.

Fran
:teacher:

It was VERY loud and distracting. I really don't like the Gasparilla Meet for that reason. With Lisa at ACE next year, I don't know which meets they tend to do. I don't think I saw them on the list of gyms this year. Maybe we are done with the madness for a while.

It was the only time I saw it. It didn't even show Jim & I linked, or I think it would have been easier to make reservations. I had to have two windows open to alternatively book us excurisons, etc.

Okay from what I understand the Dolphin excursion at CM is at the same beach as jungle beach break and you can stick around at the beach afterward. But online the earliest Dophin Ex is 10 am and earliest Jungle is 11. But the boat is in port at 7:30. So what do you do for 3-4 hours until your excursion leaves. I want to make the most of all of our port stops, not hang around on the ship for 4 hours waiting. Can you get your own transportation to Uvero beach and just go over to the dolphin place?

KikiK you been awful quiet lately too..you must just still be enjoying the company of your parents.....

Yes, they are still here... but I tend to do most of my DIS-ing from my office... which I haven't been in very much lately, thanks to helping to get my boss' new business started... plus, I'm coming up on my busiest week of the year... Bike Week officially starts Friday, so preparations are well underway.

Spent yesterday at Busch Gardens for Elizabeth's birthday... me and 4 12-year olds... now I am EXHAUSTED!!!! We left at 7 AM, got back at 10PM... long day to be with those kids!!! Love them dearly, but was MORE than ready for that day to end!!

I took Elizabeth birthday shopping Friday night... found her something to wear for formal & semi-formal nights... one more thing to cross of the list!!!

Congrats to Lisa & Kelly... way to go!!!

All this talk about everyone making ressies has really got me :sad1: . Sounds like we'll never get anything booked by the time we're able to!!!!

Hi everyone,

Just got back from an overnight at the Indian Reservation Casino in CT (Foxwoods). Won a mess load yesterday but gave some of it back this morning. Still had lots of fun. Hit "27" 4 out of 5 spins last night at Roulette. THAT was exciting.

Whew!!! I had to read through 12 pages of posts. Man, you guys are chatty. We first-time cruisers will have to wait until, what..March 13th, right? If an excursion is "saved" on your wish list, does it just automatically get booked? Sorry, but I'm a little confused....help!!
