YOU READ MY MIND!!!! AGAIN!!! Why is it that we 'Karen's' seem to think alike pretty often!!! (Especially when it comes to weird stuff...)
SCARY, huh? Although I prefer "great minds think alike!" ;)
OMG.. what a day... meeting after meeting... and I'm sitting in my last meeting of the day and my phone rings... I answer it, (we hadn't quite started yet), and it's Elizabeth... bawling her eyes out... seems that there wasn't much progress from the AWFUL mid-term report to the EVEN MORE AWFUL report card!! She FAILED reading... how does a smart kid who generally LOVES to read FAIL READING!!!! I am so mad right now I could spit.
I have officially grounded her until mid-terms come out again, taken the phone out of her room, and am working on what else will happen... I'm just to disappointed to think clearly right now. She was supposed to go to MGM on Saturday with our church youth group... it's killing me not to let her go, but I've GOT to get through to her. She is a smart kid- she's just not doing the work, not turning it in, not studying, not paying attention... not... not... not... you get the picture. It has NOTHING to do with ability.
OK... I guess I'm done venting for now... Calgon, take me away!
:grouphug: Man, I'm glad I don't have to deal with this kinda stuff. If mine aren't trying hard I crack them in the head that day....no need to wait 9 weeks around here for a good head cracking! ;)

Hey Scoopie! How you doing? While you are there maybe you can make Megan smile a bit. You have that effect on people! :)
Megan was here, and I did make her smile. In fact, I made her laugh. She said "WHAT is THAT?" and when Stacey told her she laughed. I'm glad I was here to make her happy.
Plus, she liked holding me in front of the dog to see if he wanted to play with me. That made her laugh, too....but it made Stacey mad, so Megan left.

Jordan is at a game, so we're going to take Scoopie someplace for dinner before we have to go get her.

Ack, Kiki, that's a tough one. When did we have that discussion about our ADD kids? Sometime back about nine months ago, I think. Most of us expressed frustration with our kids and their attention/effort/organization problems. If one of us could find the answer to that question we could make millions.
I was kind of thinking we would book something about eighteen months out on the cruise, and then figure it out when new itineraries are announced. I'd love a trans-Atlantic, but not sure the family would (no scuba diving).

We'd better get thinking about what the NEXT cruise will be. After all, think of the let down on June 3rd if there isn't a plan in place!
That is exactly what Jim said - we better figure out the next trip. What would we do without looking forward to some more time with our friends. Any ideas for 2007???

Hey, is the Ohiomouse family still on tap to get Scoopie at the end of January? I think that was the original plan. We were going to take him skiing. Well....as we have no ski trip planned we'll have to find SOMETHING fun to do with him!

Our semi-formal night picture is the one on Mary's website from our cruise 06/04
http://monorailgreen.info/May06/photoindex.htm This is what we did for our formal nite on our 6/04 cruise. Since DH doesn't own a tux, and we don't want to pack suits if we don't have to, we rented a tux from the cruiseline tux service. DS wore a suit and tie, and I had on a short black dress. This year both DH and DS will rent the tux and I'll be wearing a dressy top with a black skirt for formal night. We had brought DS's Easter dress shoes on the cruise not realizing that he'd outgrown them. We have several pictues of him in his suit with sandals!
Thanks so much for the info!

Oh ... maybe that's why DCL can cruise in US waters. My understanding was that on the catamarans out of the BVI, we were dumping EVERYTHING! :crazy2:
Stacey, we went through a company called The Moorings.
Ang
I looked at The Moorings...but the contest/drawing that I entered was for Elite Island Yachts. Those are some pretty gorgeous catamarans.
But I think Jay wants to go to an island and stay for a week or 10 days in 2007. Maybe no cruise for us that year. We're looking at finally using our timeshare, and going to Turks & Caicos.

We had the BEST serving team on our cruise. Got Nick raspberries and blueberries EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! :) And he only had to ask on the first night. Every night after that they were just there waiting for him!
Unfortunately one of them is leaving mid-April and not coming back until mid-June. The other one is leaving MAY 27th. The NERVE!! We tried to convince her to stay another week, but she gave us this sob story about getting back to St. Vincent's so she can see her little girls (ages 7 and 4)
Funny thing is....we did Nick's birthday on night #2 (he wanted it in Parrot Cay) and for some reason they did....
Happy Birthday dear Patrick......
And it stuck. From then on Nick was "Patrick." Got to the point where we didn't have the heart to tell them that wasn't his name. They probably got our tip envelopes that said "From the Patrick family" and thought either Nick had a lot of power in the family or that we are sick people naming our kid "Patrick Patrick." ;)

o.k. speaking of "reel" life(I know you said REAL) - I think I have my movie character narrowed down for our costume party Saturday night...
Ginger Rogers - I have the wig now, and a dress but, I'm having a hard time looking at myself as a blonde...
Thought I might do Molly Ringwalde in either Breakfast club or 16 candles- it's scarey enough that I could probably put together her entire outfit of clothes I still have in my closet including my prom dress - if they'll fit is another question...
Then John came up with Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct....flattered but, no....

I love the Molly Ringwald idea. No one (except me) is old enough to remember Ginger Rogers. She used to come to Omaha (although I don't know WHY) and when she did, she came to our church. My brother used to love to sit on her lap. He was 30.

All of the talk about bags has gotten me thinking about doing another wine for this cruise, private label.
This time I'm thinking of winebroker.com/Wine.asp?code=JRB (http://winebroker.com/Wine.asp?code=JRB). Very smooth mild everyday drinking red wine from Southern France. Mild tannins, semi-dry flavors of black cherries. Very popular with clients for many years!
Any interest?
For those who do not know, I did this on the 10 day and carried it on board for those who wanted a bottle or two. Actually, my children carried it on for us.

Good morning all!
It's a little chilly in GA this morning.
I have a follow-up dr. appt. today. Part of me is hoping he'll say that I don't have to wear the brace any more but part of me thinks of it as my security "blanket". I just think I'll go back to being fatigued again - mainly from muscle fatigue. But every day is still a better day and I've got this cruise to look forward to.
Jim, I think I'm in for a bottle of wine.
Over the weekend I asked Bruce where our next family vacation would be. The girls have been dying to go back to DW so he said probably there. Even though it was in Sept. 2004, Ashley doesn't remember anything and Emily doesn't remember much. Back to the conversation with Bruce ... then he threw in "if we like the cruise, maybe we can do that every other year." That shocked the heck out of me! Maybe he's looking forward to this more than I thought!!!!
Getting my Passporter back from a friend today. I'll be doing some reading again. Not sure there is anything else I REALLY need to know but it's just my obsessing!!!! But I know y'all understand.

How about an all inclusive at the Turks & Caicos? The Beaches has a family one at the Turks & Caicos.
Elizabeth might still be grounded in 2007, so we can't make any vacation plans yet... :scared1:
What makes me even madder at the whole situation, is that the 'House Leader' signs all the report card and puts a note on them... it is 100% obvious that she doesn't even look at the grades, because she wrote 'Nice Job' on Elizabeth's report card... HELLO... she got a 2.0... NOT a good job. This just makes Elizabeth think that it's not so bad after all... I am horrified, and am seriously thinking of calling the House Leader to give her a piece of my mind... just not exactly sure what I want to say to her, besides, "ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND???" (Yes, I'm yelling...)
On the other hand, I just left an award ceremony for Christopher... he got "Outstanding Achievement in Science" for the first half of the year... he was thrilled. This is the first year that he hasn't won the "Enthusiasm" award... he's got the bubbliest personality, but HATES getting that award. (His report card, BTW, was great!!!)

We are having some crazy weather here in NY. It has been sooo windy and raining. The wind is just whipping around. Trees are down. Some people don't have electricity...I DO thank God. Time to try to regain some "normalcy" and get to work. Somehow, "normal" just doesn't seem to be synonymous with "Stacey".

Lisa would like to get her nails done on the ship if she continues to do well in school. Does anyone know (or if someone is cruising prior to our trip could they ask) if an almost 12 year old would be allowed in the Salon to have her nails done. I know they can't go in the spa, but I would think the Salon would be ok. If someone knows for sure, please let me know. THanks. Sharon

This isn't a 100% for sure...but Jordan got to go have her hair done for Megan's wedding. She was 11...or maybe just turned 12. The thing I don't know, is if they only let her go because of the wedding.

Pam, glad to hear that Charley is home from the hospital.
Things went well at my dr. appt. The dr. said that the bone is fusing ... said it's already at 60% bone growth. I was quite surprised. I am now wearing a corset rather than the brace. But I only have to wear it when I'm out & about, not at home. The corset is like what you see stockworkers wear in a grocery store ... those elastic "belts" that go around your torso. I am now able to lift up to 30 lbs. and can bend/twist up to 2/3 of what I would normally do prior to surgery. I need to work on strengthening my muscles in my torso. So it was a good visit! I go back on May 24. Hopefully at that time he'll tell me no more corset. I'd hate to have to be in it on the cruise! I did ask him if the cruise would be ok ... just to double check. He said "Have fun! Where are you going?" I also go the ok to make the long car drive back to LA in Feb. to attend my grandmother's 90 b-day celebration and to go to a Mardi Gras parade.

There is a very very good chance we will be moving to GA this summer!! We will most likely look for a house around Sandy Springs, Alpharetta or lower Cumming areas.
It would be so nice to live closer to WDW and DCL! LOL We could then drive instead of having to fly if needed. Anyway it would be nice to at least have the choice.

I packed for a 7 day in one afternoon and one evening. My advice: extensive, pre-made packing lists. Packing is SO easy (other than finding out nothing fits!)
Since our vacations rarely vary (cruise or WDW) we have lists so we don't forget anything. :)
The only thing we *forgot* this time was zip ties for the luggage. Landed in Orlando and realized nothing was secured. I know I packed them.....just can't remember WHERE!!! :rotfl2:

Ok I guess this is a case where having a moderator on the cruise might be a blessing or a curse. Bottom line there are some agents and some websites that have been blocked by the filters here. If you don't agree with that blocking you will have to take it up with the admins. We as moderators are only to make sure that people don't try and go around those filters. Going around the filters is against the guidelines of the board as well. So typing out the names with spaces, or using other ways to try and get your message across will get your post deleted. You will also be warned. If you ignore those warnings you could lose your posting privledges.
Again our job is to make sure that doesn't happen. So again if you don't agree with any of this please direct your questions to admin@wdwinfo.com
Edited to add - if anyone has a problem with the above message (not the rule itself) please feel free to pm me.
Now enough of the moderator stuff and back to the cruise. :)

And a few more things to throw out there, the pics Mary posted are heavily resized, and not the final product to be given to Pam either, so are kind of rough cut and pastes at points. More just to put the idea together. Especially the way the image/text merged with the red background. It'll look a lot sharper on the actual item.
Second, I have just finished a full evening of scanning in the entire DCL booklet they sent, all 50-60 pages. I'll put it together into something a lot more presentable tomorrow and should have something up tomorrow night. :)

If you need info, I'm sure there are a few of us that will help you out. We live in Alpharetta (well, it's really unincorporated N. Fulton) - very close to the Fulton/Forsyth county lines. I think it's Julia that lives in Sandy Springs.
Where do you live now?

Hey!
I will take you up on the help for sure when I find out for sure about the move. Thanks
Right now we live in the Dallas, TX area.

I would think we would try and move after sometime in June or July. Yuck it will be hot!
When do schools start in GA? Aug or Sept?
I also think if I am not mistaken my son and yours were writting emails to one another but I think mine wrote last and haven't heard from you lately but then again I haven't been on the web that much the past couple of months, LOL Sorry if I am mistaken but if not hello again long time no talk LOL

I love the Flower :flower3: & Garden :flower2: show. We have been able to see it the past two years when we went in May. I didn't know they would still have it in June. That is really great to hear because we couldn't leave to go to WDW before the cruise due to my youngest being in school this year. Thanks for the letting me know!!!

I had a post deleted on the cc board. We were having a discussion about accessible cabins and I said DCL was the only line requiring a medical form. It got deleted cause I was giving info people could misuse.

I guess I don't have a devious mind...I can't for the life of me figure out how this information could be misused. Oh well.
Angie! YIPPEEEEE!!! Wow....good for you! That is really great news. I'm still sorry you had to go through the misery to get where you are, but thank heavens it's almost all over ...and you'll be better than ever!

As for the temps, we love it here. It can get hot in Aug. & Sept. but that's it! The humidity will be higher than in Dallas but the temps will not. Just for fun went over to the DCL site to price out our cruise. Cat 7's (which we are in) are still available. If the two of us were to book today it would be $1600 more than when we booked it onboard back in Dec. 2004.

I have never watched American Idol, but was watching it last night. Too funny. Some of the people have REALLY good voices. Some people....OMG...WHO tells these people that they could sing? That one girl, they brought in her mother. I think she was 17 or something. They were laughing cause she looks just like her mother. I don't like watching people make fools of themselves, but I have to admit, it's sometimes funny.

As far as the lettering....black or gold...doesn't matter.

But I want to hear another opinion on why you like it the other way....maybe I'm not seeing or thinking something. Honest.

I like the islands on there, because it will always remind us of where we went.
But I want to hear another opinion on why you like it the other way....maybe I'm not seeing or thinking something. Honest.
My orignal point (although I meant it sarcastically, but Mary liked it so I'm sticking with it) was that if we DON'T go to Cozumel we'll forever have "Cozumel" on the bag. I REALLY want to go there, but I'm not holding my breath. I know DCL will do whatever is best for us and the reputation of DCL. :)
So my original idea was just meant to be a "what if" we don't go to Cozumel kinda thing (hence I said take a Sharpie and fill in the islands when we actually dock there!)
I *do* like the island names on there b/c you can see CC twice....whereas the new design, unless you know what "double dip" means, ppl will have no idea we went there twice. Then again, those are ppl who aren't in our group so WHO CARES WHAT THEY THINK!?!?!?!?

Unless there's another (biting my tongue and fingers) hurricane between now and May...there's no way we aren't going to Cozumel. We were there in December, and they were already making GREAT strides to be back up and running. The only thing that will still not be ready for us by May is the pier. We'll still be tendering. But they have that down to a science...and huge, nice tender boats.
I can't say for certain, but I am 99.999999 % postive that even Chankanaab and the dolphins will be ready by May. Those people are true workers, and want to start making some good money again. And they aren't blaming God or anyone else for their misfortune. (hear that, New Orleans??)

We're doing the ruins with Mark and Mary. I feel even better about that, now that I heard the boat over there and the bus, are air conditioned!!
Plus...we'll have our nifty bags to put drinks and snacks in!!

I have just finished a full evening of scanning in the entire DCL booklet they sent, all 50-60 pages. I'll put it together into something a lot more presentable tomorrow and should have something up tomorrow night. :)
Thanks, Mark! I know I'm not going to get the KIT from my TA. (1st and LAST time I ever use her!) :confused3
Disney Fans: We love living in Georgia too! We've lived here 18 years already (YIKES!!) - 17 years in Cobb County (Marietta) and now one year in Gwinnett County (loving it!). The biggest complaint I have about metro Atlanta.........TRAFFIC!!

   I JUST PAID OFF MY CRUISE!!!!
Let me rephrase that... I just gave my TA my cc# to charge the rest of it to my Disney Visa so that I can get more Reward Dollars... then I'll transfer it to my line of credit for the (much) better interest rate and pay it off with my tax return...
Maybe NOW I'll get my 'magical mailing'... she said that she's gotten lots of them, but not mine. :guilty:
Cruise questions.... We aren't really planning on doing any DCL excursions... but I was looking at them anyway.
Is the Chakannab snorkeling off of a boat, or just out in their snorkelling area? If it's from land, how on earth can they justify that price... last time we were there, we took a cab for $10 (4 of us... $2.50 each) and brought our snorkel gear... a far cry from $47 each!
And a HAPPY DANCE    TOP to end my work day!!

Hi all -- Charley came home from the hospital last night. He has to go back next week for follow-up visits with cardiologist and nuerologist and our regular doctor, but at least he is home. He can go back to work on Monday if he is feeling up to it.

I believe the Chankannab snorkeling is from in the park...
We did the Catamaran and the kids had a blast - I was a bit concerned as a lifeguard (lifeguard + mom = extremely parinoid combination.) because the current was extremely strong where we stopped to snorkel. Several families and kids were having a hard time making it back to the ladder. The photographer fed the fish to get photos and once she finished, the fish disappeared. But, from the kids' perspective the beach was lots of fun as well as the party on the way back...
Not sure what we're doing, yet. We may just go hang out at Chankannab...

We are not planning on doing any excursions, either. The only thing my DH wants to do is the parasailing at CC. I think my DS (AJ,10) wants to join him in a tandum sail. Other than that, I think the only thing we'll do is the Chakannab beach. My guys are too young for ruins or castles. Maybe next time. I know my little guy (Anthony,6) will not stay more than a couple of hours looking at anything educational.

Not sure what we're doing, yet. We may just go hang out at Chankannab...
That's our plan... when my sister and I went there a few years ago, we grabbed a cab, headed over to the park, and hung out all day- it was a great place to do a whole lot of nothing.
It was there that we met a couple who was on DCL, who raved and raved and raved about it... they convinced me that I HAD to do it... that was 3 years ago, and we're finally getting there.
(Gotta remember, we got sidetracked by moving 1400 miles away in between... that slowed us down a bit.)
