She swore me to secrecy and made me promise that I wouldn't show anyone except DH a picture of the dress. I said "What  I can't tell my dis friends?" And she said, "Okay, yeah, I guess you can share it with them!" :lmao:

::yes::
This particular dress has a lot more than just the trim in red. It's very untraditional! But it is so beautiful. And it's what she wants.
Speaking of what she wants....let me ask you guys a question. She wants her brother (Matthew) to be the ring bearer. He is 12 but he is very small for his age. I told her I thought he was too old to be a ring bearer. But then last night DH reminded me it's her wedding and if she wants him to be the ring bearer and if he wants to do it then why not. What do you guys think? She's trying to include each of her brothers in a special way!

I just posted this on the arts and crafts board but thought I'd post it here too.
When I got married my mom and aunts made "flowers" as favors for my wedding reception. The flowers were made out of very wide satin ribbon or a square of satin. They attached a stem and leaves to the bottom and somehow stiched the material to form an open flower. Then they put birdseed in the flower and folded down the top to hold in the birdseed. When DH and I were ready to leave the reception all the guests got a flower and when they held on to the stem of the flower they were able to flip the flower forward so that the birdseed flew out at us. Then everyone had a flower to have after the wedding as a favor.
If anyone knows how to make these I would love to know. Our DD is getting married in May and I'd like to make these for her wedding!
Any of you guys know how to make these??

Okay, never mind. I found directions on-line. In case anyone is interested:
You need is 2" strips of fabric in your color(s), folded and sewn along edge, then turn inside out to create a tube. You will want to cut the fabric tube to about 3 1/2" lengths.
You will need 2-3 rolls of 1/4" floral tape in green.
You will need wire floral leaves (the stem of the leaf is bendable wire)
You will need to 1/4 inch wooden dowells, cut to the length you desire (6"-8" works best)
You will need some thin floral wire.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Insert wooden dowel 3/4" inside one end of the satin tube. Wrap floral wire snugly around end of material, securing it to pick.
2. Wrap wooden dowel with floral tape starting at base of flower, covering wire, adding leaves near top of stem. Stretch tape while wrapping.
3. Fill satin tube with desired contents (rice, potpourri, bird seed, ect). Fold top of material in, to form bud. You can add a straight pin or safety pin to bud to hold closed or to hold a special not from bride & groom to guests.
Fill a decorated pale, basket or vase with some sand or floral foam and place stems in it to hold upright

I thought you had to get the refund from the Company - Not the stores..... :confused3
Some stores have agreed to give refunds and "hope" to get reimbursed from ConAgra. Our store is one of them. We are doing it as a service to the community. They have to bring in the jar with the lid, can't just bring the lid. If consumers only kept the lid then they have to mail it in for a refund.

stores around here won't give refunds, they only give you the info on how to return the product to the mfg.
Our store is really earning some brownie points with customers for giving refunds!
We don't have any thank goodness.
We had one jar...almost gone!

I threw the jar away because I didn't think I would need it. And that is great that your store is doing that for the customers. :thumbsup2

ok, I officially give up.
We lost a cell phone somewhere on the way home from WDW.
I've searched and searched and searched for the last two months and can't find it anywhere. :headache:
Now I have to call our provider and figure out how to get a new phone and hopefully they won't ding us big time!

I just got some bad news.
I'm sure you all remember me talking about Nana and Grandpa. Grandpa passed away almost a year ago from brain cancer. Nana has had a problem with her kidney for about three months. Last month they did a lot of tests and found that she has a tumor. They did think that it was not cancerous. They wanted to give her a month to see if it grew. She went back to the doctor yesterday and the tumor has grown quite a bit. It's pushing into the kidney and has caused a bump on her back. They've told her that they are going to have to remove her kidney. From everything I've ever heard that is a really rough surgery. She has no family in PA so I guess her daughters and I will be making arrangements to go back and forth to be with her.
Please remember her in your thoughts and prayers.

Good Morning Everyone
hope you all have a great Wednesday
took Jess to the orthopedist cause her hand was still VERY SWOLLEN
and painful
he said she sprained her middle knuckle and bruised her hand
the splint the people in Urgent care put her in on FRIDAY and she stayed in until
yesterday we the wrong one
it made it almost impossible for the swelling to go down
so he buddy banded her fingers together
took her out of Gym and sledding and stuff for two weeks
this AM she woke up and her fingers already are starting to look better
I really can't stand the urgent care
but after DR's hours it is our only option:headache:

Update on my dad:
Surgery went well, and the "wound" is healing nicely. He however is very slow to recovery his memory and his other functions.
He came home yesterday after 9 days in the hospital, and is now going to therapy everyday (M-F) for 6 hours. He is still not really walking, but he refuses to use the walker (I'd say typical male, but my dad is the one who usually tells us to do what the doctor says and he himself is a strong believer of the the doctor knows best) His memory is also not great-- although he remembered I was going to WDW and on the cruise :tink: three days after surgery (after he got out of ICU) he asked why I wasn't at WDW.... now thats a good memory!!!
Well, gonna try to read back a little and catch up with everyone here.
Hope everyone is doing well, and that everyone is healthy.
Can't wait to read about Kim's trip to WDW.

Yep. Saturday is going to be very busy.
In the morning DD has to sell cookies until noon.
Than from 12-4 she has a b-day in one part of town.
Than from 6-10p.m. she has another b-day in the opposite end of town.
And at 7:30 DH and I have tickets for a Lip Synch contest that the Church is doing.
And they are having a Surprise B-day for DH's 90 year old Aunt. Which DH is going to without me.
Plus we are replacing our roof starting Monday. So DH is busy lining up the dumpster, shingle delivery and all that stuff.
Oh yeah I also need to run and get a permit tomorrow to have a tree taken down that is messing up our foundation.

Whew! What a day at work!
Just when I thought the Peter Pan returns were winding down....today reps came in to get all of our stock and all of the returns.
But the way they had the process worked out was they came in to BUY all the jars. Our stock was easy - we were able to key in the total amount and then take payment. The returns were a different story! We had to scan each jar individually - one receipt for each size jar! I scanned $2,500 worth of peanut butter!!!!!! :faint:

We had the winds a few weeks ago when it was so cold, too. This just seems weird because it's a little warmer and it's bright and sunny. You feel like it should be spring.
We've got the winds again today with high wind warnings (sustained 30-40 and gusting to 60!!!) and we've got a fire warning because it's so dry. If a fire starts it's going to spread very quickly!
I didn't know fog could freeze either!! :confused3

Why you ask??? The person in charge of hiring the lunch ladies is.............
My Snow Plowin' Grass Cuttin' Neighbor!!!
