A man drives to a gas station and has his tank filled up. The gas pumper spots two penguins sitting in the back seat of the car.

He asks the driver, "What's up with the penguins in the back seat?"

The man in the car says "I found them. I asked myself what to do with them, but I haven't had a clue."

The clerk ponders a bit then says, "You should take them to the zoo."

"Hey, that's a good idea," says the man in the car and drives away.

The next day the man with the car is back at the same gas station. The clerk sees the penguins are still in the back seat of the car.

"Hey, they're still here! I thought you were going to take them to the zoo."

"Oh, I did," says the driver, "And we had a swell time. Today I am taking them to the beach."

Hopefully, our school built for 650 kids, that has 900+ kids, will finally have the addition built that was suppose to be build back over the summer. The county is lazy though, so yea. And maybe before I graduate the new band/arts center will be built.

it is the perfect time to sell but not to buy. And I am not into moving. So I guess I need to figure out a way to deal with what I have got.

A little off topic...but Kelli - I cannot believe the housing costs there! OMG! We got a new county appraisal on our property here yesterday and it went up quite a bit. So it got me to wondering how much our old house down there may have gone up. So I went to the county appraisers site!!! We sold for around 159,000 in 1989. The fair market value of that house now is $616,000! I could not believe it!

We had a waterfront house (canal) over near Treasure Island. I checked the transactions on the house....we sold it in 1989, it sold in 1990 for $190,000. They didn't make much, if anything, when they sold it 'cause when they bought it from us they completely gutted the kitchen and did a lot of other MAJOR renovations so I doubt they made any money on it. Then it sold in 1991 for $220,000 and then it sold in 1996 for $370,000!!!!! The property taxes (without homestead) are almost $13,000!!!

I wouldn't even consider selling yours and moving right now unless you had to!

She was born with it and we were told she would out grow it. Which should have already happened and she didn't.

Last year they were worried about it so we headed off to the Cardiologist to get it checked out. but in there book they said it is innocent. But yes I still worry about it all the time.

It's starting to get that way here. But for now they've stopped the condos and multi-family dwelling from going up because they don't have the water supply!

I guess I can't compalain about property costs. Ours has more than quadrupled since we moved here in 1991. Of course, we've done major work to the house.

You wouldn't believe how out of control it is here, in just a few years. In the late 90s DH and I built our home with a ton of stuff from businesses going out of business and one forclosure auction and things like that. Then, Maui started with a hugely insane bubble...the going price now to build a standard-no frills house (this doesn't include the land cost) is $150-$200 per square foot  so, a 2000 sf house would easily cost over $400,000 to build...add in land and you can easily hit $700,000-$1,000,000. It is so insane, I feel so bad for our friends who can't afford a house and who's rent is comparable to my mortgage...very scary.

how long of a break did your kids have???? seems weird to have a break now,do they have a spring break too?????

Mine just had off on Friday, but it was a little hard for me cause I've worked every night this week and tonight too,so of course they had to fight and then laugh and wake me up a few times and I loved the "Mom,can I have tuna for lunch?" WHat!!!! I'm sleeping here-go ahead, that's what it in the cupboard for!!!

Plus I had to get up and take DD to a GS meeting at 2:30pm-but like I said.....

Sleep is Overated!!!! :rotfl:

Somebody here on the boards posted their house for sale and it is a two story almost 2500 s.f. house in TN. She was only asking $196,000. That would be a steal here right now.

That's what we hope to get for our house-or a bit more

but in GA,we hope to pay the same for a house twice as big as what we currently have :cheer2:

I just worry that the market is starting to slow down now and we really need to sell be August 1st-since school in GA starts around the 2nd week in Aug-ideally we would like to close on July 1st and be all settled in by the time school rolls around
