The snow is melting....fast. It's supposed to go up to 40 today and it's nice and sunny out. DH just stopped by, he's on day-shift. He said that our end of the county got more snow than the rest of the county. People of the eastern end of the county got nothing and they're trying to figure out why there's no school! :rotfl:

I didn't get a chance to tell you what DD pulled yesterday!...
First, she calls home about 15 minutes after I got home from work. She knows I hate work on Mondays, she knows I have to walk in the door and get dinner ready and deal with the boys. If DH works on Mondays then the boys have to come in and get started on homework and everything alone, so when I get home they're ready to tell me about their day. So DD knows this is not the best time to call.
eeyoresmountainpals
03-07-2006, 12:59 PM
So then she proceeds to ask if she can borrow some money. Before I even asked why I had to tell her that right now is not a good time because our budget is really tight right now. So she says, well remember when you guys went to WDW last October and I wasn't invited? (Okay, lay on the guilt!) Remember you said you would help me if I wanted to go somewhere over spring break. I said, no, I remember saying that we would help if she wanted to go see her friend in FL over spring break. I ask if she wants to go see her friend. No, she wants to go to Gatlinburg...
with her boyfriend (that we don't approve of)....
and wants to stay at the hotel that we always stay at....
and wants me to help finance this!
eeyoresmountainpals
03-07-2006, 01:05 PM
And she can't understand why I'm having a problem with this.
1. I'm not naive, I don't have a problem with the idea that she's going away with her boyfriend. She's old enough to make that decision.
2. How could she even think to go to the hotel we always stay at. This is the hotel that DH and I honeymooned at almost 23 years ago. This is where our kids have grown up going on vacations. This is "OUR" hotel. And she thinks we won't have a problem with her bringing her boyfriend there. I could see it if there were no hard feelings as far as this guy goes but DH can't even say this guys name. He only refers to him by a name I can't put on here! Doesn't she see that if she goes there with her boyfriend it'll never be the same for our family going there again. Am I wrong??
3. And how could she expect me to help her finance this?
And it's not like she was calling to start planning the trip and see if I could help. They wanted to leave last night 'cause she suddenly has time off from work. (Yeah, suddenly has 4 days off because she was suspended from work for being late....again!)
sorry-I had to finish before it got to late-sorry to hear she didn't enjoy the dance class-but it may be for the better-have you thought of your DD joining TaeKwonDo too???? my DD was thinking about it,but since she already does piano,BB,soccer it was too much for me to handle :teeth: Where are thinking of signing her up when she is DSes age...she is still only 3 (almost 4), and we decided we would try soccer (which we think she would enjoy) when she is old enough and maybe swimming again this summer if I can find a better class than last summer...I think she is not ready for a structured class yet...which is fine. I believe in giving opportunities, but not forcing them to enjoy it :rotfl: so, we will try something else later. :thumbsup2

Lyn honestly that is the best way. DD does dance because she wants to. I support her 100%. The only thing that I make sure every month is that she still wants to do it before I make the committment with funds.
If she didn't want to, no big deal. We could find something else to do.
But if I pay for the month I do expect her to finish it out.
My neighbor used to pay 100's of dollars for her kids to do diving and cheerleading for them to do it one or two times and than quit. And they are teenagers now and have NO responsibiliies what so ever. They expect everything to be handed to them with NO strings attached. Very sad.

Seems like every time I start to see hope that she's moving away from her boyfriend she pulls something like this. It's so hard. I try not to say much about him but when it comes to something like this I can't just keep my mouth shut. I'm glad that they decided not to go to Gatlinburg because I really feel that it would have changed our feelings as far as it being "OUR" place! But I wish she would just lose the boyfriend. She's been with him 3 years now! UUUUGGGGHHHHHH!~

I agree completely. We don't force our kids to do anything but if they want to do something and we make a financially committment then we expect them to follow through until we're no longer financially committed to it.
Of course, a three year old probably doesn't understand the idea of the financial committment yet! :teeth:

Trust me I know that one first hand. My Parents told my brother about his girlfriend being trouble. So he goes off and gets married, has a baby. Ends up in big trouble for something SHE lied about. Anything we sign them up for, they must finish, but we do it in reasonable increments. Soccer- DS finished and then the TaeKwonDo we did only one month. After the one month, DH asked DS if he wanted to keep doing it or not. DS wanted to keep doing it. We asked if he rather do that or soccer....he wanted TaeKwonDo...so, we paid for the next set. At the end, DH will ask him again.
The tap class was a free tryout...so at this point DD isn't getting signed up...if not, I would have done a month by month too. :thumbsup2

People don't realize that things like this effect the entire family and it takes everyone in the family to work through it. DD has all but alienated (sp?) her brothers because of this guy. She's made her choices. And as much as she feels it's her choice she doesn't realize that "HER" choices effect and hurt everyone in the entire family!

Glad you tried it! Did you make it with sausage or bacon. (I found out you can also make it with ham!) well, I sort of modified it for us...I used Portuguese sausage and left out the mustard seasoning and added pepper and instead of making one dish, I put it in 4 pie pans...DH and I ate one for breakfast (he loved it!!!!), I took one to DMILs which they ate for lunch and froze 2.
DH has an indoor archery meet this weekend...so, I was thinking of making it again...maybe with smoked sausage and putting the mixute in a deep cookie sheet without the bread...baking and then cutting it into rectangles and folding them in half and placing them in english muffins...so the guys can each grab a muffin and eat...no fork or plate required :goodvibes

He's pretty short for a cop...only 5'10" and not real muscular, so I think he learned early on that he had to have an intimidating personality! And it works!

well, I sort of modified it for us...I used Portuguese sausage and left out the mustard seasoning and added pepper and instead of making one dish, I put it in 4 pie pans...DH and I ate one for breakfast (he loved it!!!!), I took one to DMILs which they ate for lunch and froze 2.
You're so creative when it comes to cooking. I like the english muffin idea!

We knew our cat was pregnant but she's really small and we didn't think she was "THAT" pregnant.
I went down to the basement to put some laundry in and I thought I heard this faint "MEOW." So I looked around and found our cat eating at their bowl. But she didn't look pregnant. So I went looking, with no luck. So then I looked at her and said, "Come on Molly, show me your kittens." And she went right to them!!!! She had them on a trash bag that had some rags on them. It was a black trash bag, she's black and all of the kittens (there's three) are dark grey and black. So we put them in a big rubbermaid container and she's taking good care of them. It looks like they were born yesterday.

You're so creative when it comes to cooking. I like the english muffin idea! I did the cookie pan thing with just baked egg (salt, pepper and I think milk....a little healthier than frying an egg in oil) and folded it in half with cheese slices and ham inside on the muffin...with ketchup....but to make your way will be much quicker and I think tastier :teeth: we will see what the guys say on Saturday :goodvibes most of his friends don't get much (if any) home cooking....so they are an easy to please group of guys :rotfl:

I told Andrew no, three cats around were enough. His comeback was "But mom that's not fair to Molly! How would you feel if someone came and just took me or Matthew or A.J. away from you!"** And the sad thing is that he's not just saying that to make me let him keep them, he really feels that way!
**And notice....he just mentioned him and his brothers, not DD! :confused3

Where are thinking of signing her up when she is DSes age...she is still only 3 (almost 4), and we decided we would try soccer (which we think she would enjoy) when she is old enough and maybe swimming again this summer if I can find a better class than last summer...I think she is not ready for a structured class yet...which is fine. I believe in giving opportunities, but not forcing them to enjoy it :rotfl: so, we will try something else later. :thumbsup2

oh! :rotfl: I doubt that had anything to do with it!
no, the axe had nothing to do with it... after all I brough my chainsaw!!! :rotfl2:
But the housekeeping at CBR was great, they brought extra towels and asked if I needed anything (as I was always in the room when they came by).
but by monday I was game enough to make it to AK for the early safari--- had to say I did something on my trip!!!

good morning all :wave2:
Once again I am going to post and run... Travis has his state Achievement tests this morning and it's going to be hectic. He is NOT used to having to get up early in the morning!!
Not to mention that they are holding it at an office building, in a conference room, but NOT providing a place for the families to wait. That is NOT a very good plan on their part. They expect you to wait the 2 1/2 - 3 hours while your child is taking the test in the lobby :confused3 Now, we're all homeschoolers, so we WILL Have all our other children with us... and I'm going to have "to keep them quiet, since it is an office building and there will be people working" I'm all for good manners, but come one. That is expecting too much of the families. Here.. sit in this lobby and don't say a word, and you can't leave b/c you don't know how long your child will take to take the test.
Ok.. I'm done grumbling :teeth:
Now I'm off to wake up T and make some pancakes. Have a great day all!

Get this. There is a News Story on our Local news this morning. A women and her child were robbed and taken to a bank to withdraw money for the guy. The Store that she was robbed I CAN SEE FROM MY OFFICE. And the details are Terrible. And guess what this is the 3rd time he has done it AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I AM HEARING ABOUT IT.
The last one that was close to my office happened ONE MONTH AGO and they are just now bringing it up.
Do you know how many times DD and I got places by ourselves. And it appears it happened during the day because he wanted her to GO INTO THE BANK to CASH A CHECK!!!
CRAZY!!!!

we're back from the testing. We've been back a bit, but I had so much to try to catch up on here.
Travis seems like he did pretty good. It took him about 1 1/2 hours to take both the reading and writing sections. They alloted 5 hours total for it. He said that after he finished the reading section he went back and checked all his answers. It is so nice to be over with. Now on Friday he has the math section. He's not too worried about that one... he likes math alot.
Now I'm just trying to straighten the house up b/c the cable guy is coming out to set up digital phone service here. He should be here sometime around.... 2-6pm. 4 hours of waiting and waiting.
Well at least it gives me time to get done what I want too around here.

Right now andie is off of Pokemon and onto star wars again! She drives me crazy with all the star wars stuff. the other day when I was really tired she came in my room to ask me about starwars right when I had fallen asleep! I was soooooooo mad!! I'm used to her waking me up if it's important and if my mom isn't home, but my mom was home and I know nothing about star wars!!
Those Pokemon games are so addicting!! Did you get the cable so you can trade? no, but it is o.k. We were playing and completed FireRed and our Blastoid was really experienced...then DS wanted to start over with Charmander...so we started playing the game over again :rotfl2: I bought him the Emerald Green game....but it is hiding in our closet for the plane trip. He enjoys having them battle, so as long as that is part of the fun I probable won't start storing or trading them :confused3 maybe I should do it for when mommy plays :lmao:
