Gee, I don't know if you can really tell. :rotfl:

But here's the story....

DD called from college one night all upset 'cause her hamster was dying. I told her that hamsters usually live for two or three years and hers was only about a year old so maybe it was sick but it wasn't dying of old age. That's when her boyfriend (i.e. "jerk") 'fessed up that he had bought her a used hamster and not told her. Someone else had it and didn't want it anymore so he bought it "cheap" for her and never told her!

She spent her entire time in high school avoiding any "relationships" 'cause she wanted to go away to college and didn't want to be tied down. The in May of her senior year, about a month before she graduated, she met him. They both worked at the same fast food restaurant. Yes, indirectly. And, unfortunately for her, it was a very hard summer for her because DH and I would not help her out at all financially. Usually we'll help her if she's short or if she can't make her car payment but we knew he was out of work and that she was probably feeding him so we wouldn't help her at all. It was rough.

it's not that i'm a totally non-Steelers person, but um, is it true that their gameplan on Sunday was to take out Palmer...
cuz i really thought he was cute and now he's like really hurt...
and i think he's kinda cute...

Well, considering that Kimo von Oelhoffen played for the Bengals, and if you can find a replay, the look on his face once he realizes that Palmer is hurt, he is completly sorry. It was not the game plan at all.

ok.... lets brak this down from a sports journalists point of view... (that'd be me) since its my major...

i hate to play the what if game in this situation, becuase i hate "it would have happend" and "if this hadnt happend" but... judging from the 60 yard completion to Christ Henry, i think that had Palmer not gone down, this would have been a much better, higher scoring game; with it all coming down to who had the ball last.

That obviosly is not what happend, however blaming Kitna is not the answer

there really is no one person to blame. They lost as a team.

Kitna had a great first half. In the second half, Two bad snaps by Brad St. Louis cost the benglas a Field Goal and Kitna bobbling the ball and having to scramble, resulting in a sizeable loss.

Add that to the fact that our offensive line has not been 100% healthy for weeks, and the blocking for Kitna wasnt there in the second half. He had to scramble outside the pocket a dozen or more times just to keep from getting sacked. I think he did a great job of staying on his feet and mobile. He should have easily been taken down at least 6 times by a great Steelers Defense.

The interceptions can be blamed on Kitna. But every quarterback makes mistakes. It just happens, nobody can be perfect.... except for Big Ben with his 154.4 passer rating, if you even want to call him a quaterback... most of his passes are for five yards or less, which even i could complete...

Last but not least, That trick play for a touchdown. Possibly one of the best designed plays i have ever seen in YEARS of watching football. Honestly, passing acros the field to the quarterback and then downfield to an open receiver throws everyone off. There is no way to prepare for it (well at least there wasnt until they gave us tape of this amazing play)....

In the end, likei said, the game was lost as a TEAM. You cannot blame the game on John Kitna. He is a first rate quarterback wether he is starting or a backup and i will argue that point to the death. I would love nothing more than to see him get a nice contract with some team besides the bengals where he can thrive as a starter.

If Bettis retires after this year, which many believe he will; the steelers will lose one of their most valuble assets, in a big man that many teams cannot stop. He is without a doubt the best short yardage player in the game, and great for goal line situations. without him, only time will tell what the steelers fate will be in the division.

Qoute specialk141 of PKICENTRAL.COM, whom happens to be a Bengals fan. Yes, it is every Bengal fans nightmare that Palmer gets hurt, but he had gotten that knee hurt before.

After much thought, I think I have this one figured out...

When we were younger we always wanted to be first because of all the fun stuff we were looking forward to...the first in our crowd to drive, to graduate, to go to college, to get married, to have kids....fun, fun, fun.

Now what is it that we have to want to be first at now that we're at our age now?....Let's see...menopause, hot flashes, irratable bowels, incontinence, old age, alzheimer's and ...the inevitable!

So in those terms

IT'S NO WONDER WE ALL WANT TO BE LAST AND WANT TO LET EVERYONE ELSE PASS US AND BE FIRST!

I'm considering the kids friendship valentine exchange. But I'll definitely do the Valentines candy exchange.

Did I tell you what happened with the one exchange I did at Christmas. Limit was $15. Naturally we always spend a little more and I ended up spending around $30. I had a name from out of the country and it cost something like $19 to ship it! Can't use delivery confirmation out of the country. She has never thanked me, never responded to me. The one that was hosting it sent her several PMs and she FINALLY responded just last week. Said she received it, everything was very nice, but she hadn't been feeling well and hadn't posted. I sent her a PM and she never responded. I checked where you can see if a person has posted elsewhere and she's been posting on all sorts of threads, but can't post a simple thank you! I am very disgruntled about this one but I try to keep telling myself that she's the exception, not the rule.

I was wondering how your diet was going but wasn't sure if I should ask.

If it makes you feel any better Atkins and I have had a parting of the ways! I struggled for a few days and lost nothing. So I decided I needed to regroup. I decided to go healthier. I'm having a bowl of oatmeal every morning with one piece of fruit. Lunch is something small but relatively healthy (chicken salad one day, a regular salad one day, raw veggies and dip one day). For dinner I'm eating whatever the family is having but I'm just trying not to eat too much and I'm trying to go heavy on the veggies. (That's a change for me.) Like last night I had the beef-a-roni and broccoli but I wanted seconds so I only had an extra spoonful of broccoli. Snacking is the big change. I'm having a mid-morning yogurt smoothie (the carb control kind) and a mid-afternoon yogurt smoothie. And I really haven't been very hungry. If I do get hungry I eat a few raisins, or mixed nuts. If I start to get hungry I eat something pretty quickly so that I don't allow myself to get too hungry. I'm drinking lots of water and some Crystal Light Peach Tea (no caffeine). I've given up soda all together.

I'm making myself exercise everyday. It's not a lot but I make myself do something every day. Yesteray I rode my exercise bike 1.5 miles, the day before I took the furry human for a 1/2 mile walk (1/2 mile doesn't sound like much but you gotta realize we're in steep mountains here! :teeth: )

Aside from my migraine I've felt pretty good. And the best part is that I can see the difference already. I started dieting this way just this past Monday and I've lost....

5 lbs!

So, don't give up Kayla. :teeth: Maybe the diet you were doing isn't working for you but you can adjust it. The important thing is to eat healthy and get some exercise.

And I still don't understand why lugging laundry up and down from the basement to the second floor doesn't work as exercise! :rotfl:

I haven't tried it but have read about it and my doctor even recommended it last year. It's a take-off of the Atkins diet but with less of the fats that he recommended and it's supposed to be healthier for you than Atkins. Have you seen some of the Atkins prepared foods, especially frozen dinners? They look really good!

DH took A.J. to school for me today. (He does that about 3 or 4 times a year! :rotfl: ) I told him I needed a day not to have to run to town so that I could just get started cleaning. I don't think it's going to be a pretty sight if he gets back and I'm still sitting in front of this computer. So I guess I better sign off for now. I'll check in around lunch time. Have a great day!

Atkins is the one where you eat a lot of meat right? I am not sure I have seen the frozen meals. But My Mom doesn't like frozen dinners. So that wouldn't be good for her.

My friend from Georgia just sent this to me. It was too perfect.

I can almost feel myself losing weight....by forwarding this to you!
You'll understand at the end.

I've seen two shows lately that went on and on about how mid-life is a great time for women. Just last week Oprah had a whole show on how great menopause will be... Puhleeeeeeeze! I've had a few thoughts of my own and would like to share them with you. Whether you are pushing 40, 50, 60 (or maybe even just pushing your luck) you'll probably relate.

Mid-life is when the growth of hair on our legs slows down. This gives us plenty of time to care for our newly acquired mustache.

In mid-life women no longer have upper arms, we have wing spans. We are no longer women in sleeveless shirts, we are flying squirrels in drag.

Mid-life is when you can stand naked in front of a mirror and you can see your rear without turning around.

Mid-life is when you go for a mammogram and you realize that this is the only time someone will ask you to appear topless.

Mid-life is when you want to grab every firm young lovely in a tube top and scream, "Listen honey, even the Roman empire fell and those will too."

Mid-life brings wisdom to know that life throws us curves and we're sitting on our biggest ones.

Mid-life is when you look at your-know-it-all, beeper-wearing teenager and think: "For this I have stretch marks?"

In mid-life your memory starts to go. In fact the only thing we can retain is water.

Mid-life means that your Body By Jake now includes Legs By Rand McNally
-- more red and ! blue lines than an accurately scaled map of Wisconsin.

Mid-life means that you become more reflective...You start pondering the "big" questions. What is life? Why am I here? How much Healthy choice ice cream can I eat before it's no longer a healthy choice?

But mid-life also brings with it an appreciation for what is important.
We realize that breasts sag, hips expand and chins double, but our loved ones make the journey worthwhile. Would any of you trade the knowledge that you have now, for the body you had way back when? Maybe our bodies simply have to expand to hold all the wisdom and love we've acquired. That's my philosophy and I'm sticking to it!

Send this to four women and you will lose two pounds.

Yes, Atkins puts a lot of emphasis on meat and proteins and red meat is fine, which is against most of what doctors say these days. My husband explained it to me once because I just couldn't comprehend why it would work...Carbs are the first thing that your body works off, then the protein stuff. If you eliminate the carbs from your diet then whenever you exercise or you do anything to burn off the food you've eaten it's going to start burning off those proteins first if you've skipped the carbs. Both Atkins and South Beach are about eliminating the carbs so that your body will burn off the other foods first. And carbs are what make you hungry, too.

You do have to wonder about Atkins, though. He said that all that red meat was fine for you and all the dairy products, all the high fatty foods were great...but the man died from a heart attack??

ARTICLE (http://www.cnn.com/2004/HEALTH/02/10/atkins.widow/)

Atkins died in April at age 72 after slipping and falling on an icy street and suffering a severe head injury. He remained in a coma until taken off life support

Than I read on and said he did have a history of heart problems

I didn't read the whole thing
