Hi Lyn

how is the new storage and room coming ?? It is coming along really well. My kids didn't nap again at the sitters and so they slept in the car when I picked them up until this morning...so DH and I stayed up past midnight working on our stuff. We finished the flooring, put back a few shelves and some stuff, not much but I cleaned out my stairs, and I assembled 2 out of the 9 cabinets. :cheer2: My legs are so sore from kneeling while doing the cabinets and walking upstairs every 15-30 minutes to check on my kids....talk about a stair master work out :crazy2:

Edited to add: my children didn't sleep in the car all night, I put them in the bed as soon as I got home :teeth:

how are the ltp pups? doing great and should be opening their eyes soon...very cute. DS has a favorite black male that he loves and calls "Copper" from Fox and the Hound....all he talks about. I think he is at a great age to have a friend all of his own, so he can keep Copper and DD and I and DH will choose which other pup to keep. I already have a great family who wants a pup, so I have a list on my fridge to keep track. I told the dad that he can have first choose after my family. I have only 4 left to either give away or keep.

Fairly good, I guess, considering. DH took him yesterday for his radiation. He's getting daily radiation through Jan 18th. Then they have to wait 3 weeks and they'll do another MRI. Then they'll reassess everything. He's having a little trouble with his speech and he has trouble thinking of what he wants to say then he gets really frustrated 'cause he doesn't know what work to use. Yesterday his hair started falling out and that was bothering him a little. He's 76 but has this beautiful head of white hair. We could notice his hair coming out in clumps all day. Whenever anyone would say anything about his hair, though, DH would take off his hat and remind him it's not all bad! :rotfl: DH is almost bald!

Grandpa cried when we left yesterday and thanked us for making the trip so it was more than worth it all!

And then on another note....DSs friend from school started his chemo yesterday. He's having a very difficult time. The surgery last week to remove lymph nodes was much rougher than they expected! They cut him from his breastbone all the way to his testicles! They decided to remove the left testicle. How hard that's got to be on a boy!

I hope everyone will please continue to keep him and Grandpa in your thoughts and prayers.

WOW! That is rough!! Poor kid. His mom and dad might want to look into bringing him to Houston, maybe treatment at Md Anderson would be less evasive. But It might be more expensive, I don't know how they would feel about that

I doubt they could afford it. They have some insurance but they'd still have to pay for travel and I know they couldn't afford it. She's already found out that she'll probably be losing her job in the next week or so. :guilty: They're in for a long struggle, both medically and financially.

WOW!! That makes it even harder! There was a woman I worked with a few years ago at the hospital, and she had breast cancer. She ended up using all her vacation and sick time doing treatment. They made her come to work once a month so she could keep her insurance.

From the sound of it this company isn't going to work with her so that she can keep her job and/or benefits. But, like she said, who cares....all they're concerned with is getting their son well. They'll worry about the other things later. I've put her in touch with a non-profit agency that I used to work for that I still do volunteer work for and they'll help them out with some of the transportation costs to and from the hospital and I'm sure we'll do some sort of fundraiser through the school pretty soon to help the family out, too.

It was very heart-warming. It was very hard on us, especially on the kids 'cause we've been very honest with them. I spotted the hamster in the basement on Christmas morning, just before the boys got up to see what Santa had brought. I couldn't get hold of the hamster so went upstairs to tell DH I had spotted him. I was so excited to have seen him and to know he was okay. He even looked a little fatter! Thanks! I just wish that I had never seen him in the basement. Now knowing that he was doing fine on his own for two weeks and then the cat got him. And I wonder if he had come out of hiding to come to me? The only good thing is that the cats didn't maul him or anything like that. They either just "played" with him or they scared him to death!

Nope DH family changed ALL the plans that I had. Big get together yesterday which ended up going longer than I expected and than we were going to do it today with the group and than DH decides everyone should come here for lunch. Acting like a crazy woman with my crazy DH :rotfl2: On Tuesday, my coworker and I are talking about cleaning/organizing our home...and I said I don't have enough storage and my family has so much stuff we want, but can't find a place to store. So, Tuesday night DH and I are talking and I suggest that we convert part of "his" garage/work area to a recreation room and storage. At first he wasn't too sure, we built the room to be a home for his bikes and such....but they got sold long ago. He went downstairs and took a look and realized with all the kids bikes and kids stuff there, it wasn't a man's garage anyway :rotfl: So, we were up on Tuesday talking about what we would do (my kids haven't been taking naps at the sitters and have been sleeping early). On Wednesday I mention I may go to Lowes to look at some stuff...well, he is so excited he picked me up for lunch and we looked around. Then, he went back home and took measurements for me and then came back to town and we picked up a ton of stuff and last night stayed up to almost midnight cleaning out the garage. He is going to power wash it today and then work on framing some doors....my coworker thinks we are nuts....she was like, "how do you have the energy" :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am so happy though, the walls are already finished, so we are going to add a couple doors to close off the area and make a storage area for ME :teeth: under the stairs and then lay down some flooring and assembly our cabenits and then we will have a cool hangout for DH and his friends and for the kids. I am going to put my luggage, decorations, papers, kid's projects, emergency supplies, old books, etc. under the stairs and I will have space again upstairs and won't be afraid for my life when I open closets anymore :cool1:

My SIL had some friends that she used to work with at the picnic yesterday and one of them told me I was too young to cook so good. :confused3 I think that was a compliment.
