ugh.. I have had this cold/flu like thing for the past 3 days. 101 fever, can't stay awake, having to use my nebulizer to clear my breating..... it's been horrible. Now it seems griffin is getting it too.

I don't mind doing laundry at all. I actually enjoy the sorting, washing, drying and folding. But I absolutely hate putting it away! It'll sit on the couch for a week. I've tried to get DH and DSs to put their own away and that doesn't work. They think of the couch as one big drawer and just pull out what they need. It's hard to teach the boys to put it away when DH doesn't! :rotfl:

I'm actually hoping for no snow the week between Christmas and New Years. We're going to make a very short trip to PA to see Grandpa. It's a 7-8 hour trip. Gonna leave on Wednesday afternoon and be back Friday afternoon. DD is going to drive from Charlotte and meet us on the way. Snow would really put a crimp in our plans.

The park that it is at is Patriot Park. All the light displays are Patriotic in some way. They have the liberty bell, an eagle, these that I've posted and some others that I can't remember right now. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge do a lot all through the year to celebrate and honor the servicemen and women and also law enforcement and fire departments!

Our tones just went off for First Responders but they're being sent to a staging area, which means right now it's too dangerous for them to go to where the real call is. DH is on duty with the Sheriff's Office today and there's a good chance he is where ever this First Responder call is. I will be a nervous wreck until they clear it.

I'm not a First Responder but usually respond to First Responder calls, especially during the day when we're short-handed 'cause so many of our guys work in town. But DH and I have an agreement that I won't respond to ones like this, with staging areas, when he is on duty with the SO. So I just have to sit and wait.

Once he had the scene in his control I got back in our truck but wouldn't leave until his back-up arrived. I had two DSs with me. I looked back in the rear-view mirror and saw DH draw his gun. OMG! I was so afraid he was going to have to fire it with the boys there. Luckily he didn't and his back-up arrived a few minutes later and we left. First Responders are what us "Country Folks" have to respond to emergencies before paramedics. They're first on the scene for anything that you guys would have a paramedic respond to. Down there when you dial 911 they'll just automatically dispatch a paramedic unit. (I remember this from when we lived down there and I'd have to call quite often for my mom.) And the paramedic units were there within minutes. Here we're so far out that they immediately dispatch the local fire department and/or first responders to emergency scenes and then also dispatch the paramedic unit from town. First responders have advanced first aid training to get things started until the paramedic unit arrives from town. But often times it can take 30 minutes for the paramedic unit and ambulance to get to outlying areas of the county but first responders can be on scene within minutes.

I'm with the Fire Department just as a Firefighter. (And I doubt that I'll ever go for the extra training for first responder, it's very extensive.) DH is a Firefighter and First Responder. The firefighters respond to First Responder calls whenever they're available to help with other issues (traffic control, taking care of other family members that may be there, contacting Red Cross, etc.)
