tnmom - make something for yourself! do it!
You only live once.

And it can't be as bad as my celery shirt. :lmao: I still haven't taken of picture of that one. I need to .

Thanks for the compliments, y'all. I appreciate it.
our trip is getting so close!

lori - I think the purple shirt goes very well.
how about adding a ruffle to the sleeves of the princess shirt to coordinate with the skirt?

I have some pics to share! The first two outfits (Hannah Montana and Tinkerbell) I cannot take credit for since a friend made them for me.
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd139/momx2_Lo/DSC_0247.jpghttp://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd139/momx2_Lo/DSC_0225.jpg

I love these outfits! Your friend does a nice job!

The next two outfits are mine - I need a little help from you all.

1st - you all know my purple top saga. I still cannot for the life of me find a purple top to match this skirt I made.
Questions for you:
1. This is the closest color I have found so far - does it look to
light? Please be honest!!!
2. Should I dye a T with ritz to match - or go with black and scrap the
iron on since it won't show good. I don't have time to order anything else for it - we leave next Thursday.

I think this shirt looks fine. What kind of iron on are you using? Did you post a picture allready?
You can buy transfer pape for dark fabric, which would show up on a black shirt.
But, I think I would just stay with this purple, it doesn't look much lighter than the purple music notes to me.

2nd - I just finished this Princess skirt last night. I love how it turned out! I bought this T to match with the intention of embellishing it but I can't seem to find anything I like on it with the embroidery. I don't really want to put a ruffle on the bottom of the T doesn't it kinda blend in to the skirt? Does it look good as is - or do you have any suggestions?
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd139/momx2_Lo/DSC_0250.jpg

TIA for looking - and helping!;)

I like it the way it is. Did you put some bling on there?

I love the skirt! It's adorable. I like the way the princesses have their own squares! :thumbsup2

I had this 3/4 way done and finished it last night.

DD loves it becuase it is a "Minnie Mouse" dress. I even let her wear her MM shoes to school. I was worried about it being to summerie but it is supposed to be over 90 degrees so I think she will be okay.

I am really working on completing projects.

Adorable! I am working on finishing too. When do you leave? We are taking off next Thursday. I also have let DD wear her creations to school, can't get them any dirtier (is that a word LOL) than at Disney!!

disneylovinfamily - for your sityuation - enjoy your trip as much as you can!

aimmee - love the miniie outfit! too cute!

tnmom - I like the top one best.

stepmom - Love the scrapbook! you have tons of talent for not "sewing."

Ok y'all. Here's my pooh toile skirt! I'm such a little kid - I've been dancing around all day in it.

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m133/celerystalker_2006/Picture010.jpg

And here are the pirate pants I made for Tammy - they're very simple, but it's the first pants I've made.
I did not make the shirt.

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m133/celerystalker_2006/Picture002-1.jpg

I haven't decided if I'm going to mess with the legs or not - maybe cut them into tatters a bit?

I love the skirt! That looks like something I might be able to do! Any suggestions or patterns for skirts. My issue is I don't have a regular piece of fabric, I bought an XXL dress from disney shopping to match DH and DS shirt. I am just going to cut it up to use the fabric. I wanted a mickey head on a shirt and was hoping for shorts, capris or a skirt like this would be adorable!

The pirate pants are great too! Great job!

Oh thank goodness! I have been SOOO worried about him!!!!

He is so cute!!! I love the green polka dot fabric! What are your plans for it?

I made the cutest tinkerbell outfit for my DNeice's birthday this Sunday with that fabric and a purple tink print. I ran out of fabric for the ruffle on the peasant shirt, so back to Walmart I went! Of course I had to get more of the Tink fabric to because when DD sees it she is going to want one too! (Even if she doesn't I'm making her one because I love how the set turned out!) I hope to post pictures tomorrow after the peasant shirt is done! I'm even going to make her matching korker bows!

I have to say I love the tinkerbell colors. It is really nice.

I also love how you cut out each princess for the skirt. DD loves the fabric and I cannot figure out to do with it. I really like this idea.

Purple shirt- I would check out the Children's Place. They have these shirts.

They are $6.99 and they have purple. The purple looks a little off on the screen but it has bling. It might be worth checking out. I bought the black for Halloween.

Has anyone tried making the Minnie ears clippies?? I'm thinking someone said they had. I'm just wondering how hard it could be. I think they are so cute! I wouldn't mind wearing them myself (at Disney of course)! I have a pattern for mouse ears (just the shape) in my bookmarks section, and I keep thinking I should give it a try.

I don't think they would be very hard at all! I have this pair:

LOVE that first outfit!

For the shirt with the ADORABLE princess skirt, have you considered using a fabric from the skirt and making a sash belt? If she wore the shirt out, and then put the belt over it, it would help tie it in a bit more maybe?

Here is a pic of the iron on. I ordered it before I knew there were different ones for dark and light colors. This one is supposed to be on white - but I ironed one on something purple and it wasn't too bad. I don't have time to order another one though.
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd139/momx2_Lo/DSC_0176.jpg

I didn't add some bling to the T - it was already there - but that is an idea - I have crystals here - but maybe I should do colors. Hmmm. I have a Cinderella patch here - and a rhinestone iron on that says "princess" but none of it is working for me.

We are not going til December but my folk art shows are kicking into gear so my time is going to be very limited soon. Say hi to Mickey for us when you go. My DD asked if we could go to Mickey Mouse's house for Halloween. My DH looked at her and said NO! When I gave him the evil eye. He said, Maybe next year! :thumbsup2

Thanks for looking for me! I don't think the iron on would fit if it is embellished - and I am scared to try and make a long sleeved T short sleeved - LOL. The one place I haven't looked yet is Gymboree - since it is a bit of a drive for me. I should peek on-line before I drive.

Sorry - one more question - what do you like better - the purple T I bought - or this green tank I have at home??? Keeping in mind the iron on, "rock star" rhinestone iron on and how busy the outfit is.

Somehow I missed the directions on how to make an autograph book and I spent hours last night looking for it and can't find it....can someone direct me, please????

Thanks
Susan

Hi Susan. i don't have Aimeeg's book but I do have this one. It's from a DISser named Rosiejo. Here's the link:
http://www.savefile.com/files/28628

This is how I make my autograph book:
Either use Rosiejo's pages or make my own-about 80.
I also take the plastic from a theme paper cover and cut
it into 2 to 4 x 6 pieces to cover the cover page and back .
I bought a paper cutter, so I cut the pages to about 4 x 6.
Used to take the pages for binding but I bought my own-Rubicoil-fuschia for the girls and ocean blue for the boys.

Sorry you did not like it.

I tried to make in generic so anyone could use it. At the end of the day at the park we took out any autographs we got. It made the book smaller each day. Also, we put the book back together I had enough room to add photos.

A really great place to buy ink is at Costcos or Sams. You can save a lot that way.

Please don't think I didn't like it! I think in fact the one I ordered is probably printed from your templates. I assumed who I bought it from created them, but honestly, I don't have it yet, coming this week, I think they are yours!

She had only printed out one so we were going to have to buy another ink cartridge, more paper and have it bound still. I decided forking out the extra bit was worth it!

I do buy my ink for cheap, $6 a cartridge online, but this was on her computer. My printer will never print nice enough long enough to do something like this.

Funny thing was she noticed right away Peter Pan was missing. All the other characters were great! And we figured it was no big deal to be missing somoene. I am sure we won't see him anyways, we aren't big character people.

This is the sweetest pic and it brought a giant smile to my face---something that has been lacking for 2 days now.

Glad I could help. My husband was in the Air Force for 5 yrs, but luckily in the chAir Force division so he only had to go away a couple times for a couple weeks for educational training. He still has some classmates active duty so lots of thoughts go out to our military men and women. I hope that you have a great support group to help you out while he is gone.
Hugs to you and your kids.
Ok, first of all, these pics aren't great, but I hope they will serve their purpose. I've finished skorts for Emma & Rylee to wear to MVMCP and now I need help deciding on their shirts. Two things to keep in mind: 1) I'm going to add a Santa hat to the ears 2) I plan to add the same ribbon around the waistband of the shirt.

Here are my choices thus far:

1: Red dot ribbon w/gold ricrac ~ my dd16 thinks this is too much red. I think it ties in well with the skirt and sheer red dot ribbon on the skirt. But, will it be too much red after the santa hat is added?

2: Christmas plaid (red/green/gold) w/gold ricrac

3: Christmas plaid w/sheer red dot ribbon ~ The same ribbon used on the skirt for the bow

4: Christmas plaid w/gold ricrac & sheer red dot ribbon

5: Any other ideas?

I would love to know what you guys think! I think you all are very talented and your opinions mean a lot to me. Even those of you that don't sew, you definitely have an eye for style!!

I vote for the red dot (choice #1)...I agree with you that it ties in well with the skirt. The Mickey head also seems to stand out better on the red dot. My second choice would be #4 (plaid, gold and sheer dot). They're going to look adorable no matter what you pick :)

Hey everyone!! I'm finally caught up again on this thread! Yowza, it moves SO fast!!! And, it doesn't help that I've been on the run for the past week. Anyway, I wanted to share a site for striped kids tights (since I know that some were looking for them). I haven't bought from them before, but they seemed to have quite a variety for halloween.

:thumbsup2

Hey Aimee,
Where do you show your ornaments? I live in Maryland...think you do too...and I would love to scope out some of your work!
Thanks,

Again - sorry to be so needy today! I am in panic mode trying to complete outfits, and my brain is a little fried. I just love this skirt - and don't want to mess it up by putting the wrong top with it. Maybe these pics will give you all a better idea of my plan, and what it will look like. Please send any comments or suggestions my way, I could use them!

I have the opposite problem. Ds is 36" tall 32 lbs. and will turn 2 on Saturday. People give us looks sometimes because he is playing in the 2 and under area at the museum, or he has a paci. I even had the nurse at my doctors ask me if he was 3 and that was a good 4 months ago or more. His bday is after the shcool cut off so he will be older in his class to start school. He will look like a giant I am sure.

I understand this! My DD2 was 37 1/2 inches on her 2 yr. old check up and weighed in at 36 pounds! 100th percentile for both weight and height. The funny part about this is that I'm just 5'4" (I'm not about to give you my weight!). DD4 was 45 inches and 41 pounds for her 4 yr old check up (95% for height and much lower for weight). Needless to say my girls will be tall but my DH is 6'4" so they come by it from him. Even though my DD2, Claire, is on the young side for her preschool class she TOWERS over the other kids (all boys by the way, 7 boys 1 girl!). I really worry for them when they get older, I'm afraid finding a taller prom date might be hard for them!

I have a sewing related question, sorry nothing Disney related though.

I need to hem all of DD's pants. She has the shortest legs known to man. :) She wears a size 3T for the waist but really fits in size 24 months for length. So I need to hem at least 2 to 3 inches off most of her pants. Any hints about sewing denim? Should I change the needle size (currently there is a size 90 in the machine) since I have ever only sewed cotton (and blended) fabric?

Thank you.

Hi Susan. i don't have Aimeeg's book but I do have this one.

If you would like the book I made please email me. I thought you were talking about Step's super cool scrap book.

Anyone who wants it let me know . . . publisher or pdf,

So someone took my book and is selling them????

Maybe, I do not understand. Can you pm me?

A few people asked, so here's some close ups of the clippies. I don't know how much help it will be, but here goes!
It looks like they are 2 circles sewn together and stuffed. They are pretty firm. I can't tell if they are sewn on or glued on. Glue would be easier but I think you could do either. They are kinda heavy, DD has to have her hair pulled up in ponytails before we can put them in.

I love it! Are those Disney papers that you used? I saw some by Imaginesce (or maybe Reminice) in the black/red/yellow combo that would be perfect, but I've yet to find them anywhere in stock. DD and I were talking about her autograph book the other day and she wants a CD album on a ring. Do you think that will be big enough for the characters to sign easily?

The papers came from the line you are talking about. They aren't official Disney papers, but certinally look great! I bought mine at Archivers about a year ago!
I think you would have room for the characters to sign. This album is 4x6, but there is less than 5 inches to sign on some pages. Of course it is easier for the Princesses to sign, but I find they take up the most room! The only character I ever worry about is Pluto because he has to hold my big heavy books on his nose! But he seems to manage! I would love to see your book when you are done with it! It might give me some new ideas for next trip!

I have to say I am a little bummed with the pictures. It is better in person. I still need to make the cape and the petticoat. The dress is full but I want it to be really really full. I love the rose bows. I put them on pin backs so I can take them off. I also bought a matching big rose.

Any ideas on how to pack this velvet monster!:rotfl:

Just poppin' in while on vacation to say HEY to everyone!!! and to tell Tom I absolutely adore this outfit! I'm makin a picture of it and when I have a grandchild to make it for.... well I'm there!! Beautiful job!!

We're in Richmond VA. touring old battlefields and then going to a NASCAR race on Saturday night. Never been to one before, but my sister and her family were going and invited us so we decided to join them. We even stayed at an old Plantation that has been turned into a B&B. It's nice..... but NOTHING beats WDW (and I'll be there in 17 days!!)

Anyway.... I had 2 or 3 minutes to check the DIS and I came straight here and started from the most recent postings and saw this. Couldn't help but comment on it! I still have 40 pages to back up and read on , and I don't really think I'll get it done while I'm on this trip, but when I get back, I'll stop in again and comment on everyone else's new creations!

Keep up the good works all!

When I started this outfit I wasn't too crazy abut the Tink fabric, and I wasn't sure how the two fabrics would look together. Now that it's done, I love it! I hope DN does too![/QUOTE/]

I agree. I have picked up that Tink and put it back so many times! I love the choice in colors. You did a wonderful job. Are you near your DN or do you have to send it away? It would be cute to take a pic of the girls together.

Purple!!! Love it!

If you have 2 dd's maybe add some green to the skirt of the green shirt outfit?
Nope - just one DD here - but I am thinking of making a HSM top to go with it too.

I finished up a few things and wanted to post pics. The first is a total CASE from several different sources here. I'm very, very proud of this! I APPLIQUED the letters AND the Mickey head. I need to add a real ribbon bow to the Mickey head to make it Minnie!

ADORABLE! I LOVE the twirl skirt!

lori123 ~ Ok, first of all I  the Tink & Princess outfits! I like the white shirt as is or with a sash like someone else suggested.

As for the HM shirt dilemma, I like the purple shirt you have and I think they iron-ons & bling will make it look great!
Thanks! :) You all will just hate me - but I decided to dye a shirt - LOL! I just wasn't happy with the light color - and blah style shirt. This way I can pick a prettier T to start with.

Thank you.
I'm not sure about all the details - but I know they have needles and thread specifically for the heavy weight of denim. That said - I have been using my regular needle and thread on denim.

Good Afternoon ladies and gentleman;) !

We aren't going on a cruise, but if we were this would work. Anyway she will have fun wearing it in the park!

Not perfect, but I have been busy with work, and three weeks from today we will be at my "happy place"!
Beautiful as usual! Get planning that cruise!

I like it! I think it finished it off just right!
Thanks - DD just LOVES it - she is wearing it now - LOL.

OOOH! I have that princess fabric! Mind if I copy? I love the ric-rac touches! Very cute!

Copy away - I would feel honored!;)
That is perfect! I have never seen anyone do a "patchwork" sash, and this compliments the patchwork twirl so nice. I bet people will be CASE -ing you now!!
Thanks! I would be tickled if anyone found my creations worthy of CASE-ing.

I love it with the sash, that was just the right touch!
I'm so happy with it - thank you!

Here's some close ups of the clippies. i don't know how much help it will be, but here goes!
It looks like they are 2 circles sewn together and stuffed. They are pretty firm. I can't tell if they are sewn on or glued on. Glue would be easier but I think you could do either. They are kinda heavy, DD has to have her hair pulled up in ponytails before we can put them in.

Glad you are having a great vacation! See ya when you get back!

That sounds simple enough, what if I can't do that though :rotfl:

I don't have the length on the skirt to fold over and make a waist band. Is there still a way to attach a waistband? There has to be I have plenty of fabric :)
I don't know if anyone answered you but there is a way to do an elastic waistband and then attach it to the skirt. Also with this method you don't have way too much fabric at the waistline which can be uncomfortable to the child. I've made several twirl skirts in this way. PM me with your email address and I will send you a word doc with the instructions (I will have to make one up cuz this information is just in "my head"...LOL Nana

does anyone know where I can buy those long socks that Hannah Montana wears in her video? they look like a big tube sock but go up to her thigh. DD would LOVE theese. Cause then she really will look like HT for halloween.
TIA
Lori

I have to admit - I don't know what Hannah Montana wears (my first baby - a girl - is due this December, so it will only be a matter of time before I learn all about these things!!) but this site has a GREAT selection of socks. Most are adult sizes, but I think some of their items run a little small, so they might have something that works... sock-dreams.com

This is the bodkin I use. It really helps to pull the elastic through the casing. They are in the notions section. If your elastic is small enough, you can put it through the eye, sometimes if mine is just a little too big, I'll cut the end diagonally to fit it through. Otherwise, I put a safety pin through the eye and hook that to the elastic. I use to hate putting elastic in, but this little baby changed my life! :rotfl:

http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb256/disboutique/fabric%20n%20patterns%20n%20ideas/bodkin.jpg

I was looking for mine the other day, and then I remembered - oh yeah... the dog ate it!!! She didn't actually eat it, but she sure did bend it in enough places that it was completly unuable! The cat and dog were in on it together - the cat knocked it from the table and the dog distroyed it. I need to remember to put this on my shopping list for the next trip to JoAnn's.

I have a pair of the Minnie ear clippies. I bought them at the gift shop at the Grand Floridian this past January (I wanted to wear them for the WDW half and full marathons to match my red running skirt and black top, but ended up not wearing them) The sticker on the back list them as $6.50 for the pair.

Awesome job. I am also pooh sized and can not find a pattern for simple shorts to fit? Would you mind sharing what patterns you use or brand of patterns. I made a pair the other day in my regular size for AK only to find out they didn;t even come close to fitting.:sad2:

jajne - I just saw your post - for the pants for tammy I used mccalls m5350 - it's scrub top and bottoms - and I just modified it for the pants.

for the skirt, I used the one I mentioned - it goes up to a 20 - but their 20 is NOT my 20 - so I expanded it - when it calls to cut on the fold, I move the pattern piece over some and then cut to add a few inches.

I don't think pattern sizes are accurate - I had gatric bypass in february and I've lost 95 pounds, so sewing for me is a good thing right now with my changing weight -
so I'm in a 16/18 in store bought clothes, a 20 in jeans and then to find the 20 skirt didn't fit me!?!?! I almost freaked out.
:)
I practiced on some christmas fabric before I cut the pooh though -
and the christmas skirt fits, it's just really snug - by the time december gets here, it will be fine.

Ok ladies and gents. You guys are very talented and very good with your time management. I can't believe you have families get on this site and sew. I sure could use some pointers. Anyway after weeks of drooling over everyones work I have decided i'm going to buy a sewing machine. So a couple of questions if you don't mind.

1] What's a good machine for under $200.

2] Do all sewing machines do a satin stitch? { you can use that for applics right}. I know pretty scary to think that I want a sewing machine when I don't know anything about sewing. I'm holding everyone here responsible for giving me false hope that I too can create.:lmao: . I really enjoy looking at everyones work.:thumbsup2

I bought the Singer Esteem from Target. I spent $129 on it. My DH offered to buy me a fancy machine and I turned him down. (I got a serger:cloud9: ) Anyway, it is a wonderful machine and it has some really great practical stitches. Any machine with a zig zag stitch can do a satin stitch. The best thing I did was read the manual from cover to cover and I bought the Simplicity guide to sewing.

I have to second that recommendation...I bought one in the 70's and it was invaluable so that I could understand what patterns meant, how to set in sleeves, how to ease, putting in zippers, cutting out patterns, everything you can imagine. It is a great book for anyone who wants to learn to sew and who is going from sewing straight stitches to making patterns and piecing patterns (Frankenpattern?) together.

Ahhh! I am 60 or so pages behind!
I knew it would happen if I went away for a week, but now I have to find the time to catch up. To be truthful I am still away, but I finally have internet access and a laptop so I thought I would see what you guys have been up to, and you have been busy!
It looks like I am definitely getting a new sewing machine!!!!!
I am so excited about it. The only question is what machine? My husband agreed to the Brother from Costco, so that great.
The plot thickens as he later got a bit full of himself (we were watching a movie at my Mom's house and he swears the version of that movie we have doesn't have certain captions, and I say he is wrong) and bet me an upgrade to the Disney embroidery machine if he is wrong. So, if I am wrong I still get the other one - not bad for me either way.
I really hope I am right, but I also thought I had read some of you guys weren't all that happy with the Disney embroidery machine. Is that machine more trouble than its worth?

Thanks guys.

I finally got it finished! It is 4 x 6. I made it for uor upcoming cruise, so I know pretty much what characters we will see. Thankfully it is a lot less than Disney! Those books can get pretty big! The last picture is a metal lunchbox I plan on carrying it in. Since we will be on the ship, I don't have to worry about rain!
I covered 4 x 6 chipboard and punched 2 holes in every piece. The book rings are 2 1/2 inches, they are hard to see because I covered them with ribbons.

Here's my last year's Autograph Books:

Done with spiral scrapbooks (small) and scrapbook paper and decoupage glue (Mod Podge) and ribbon.

I do NOTHING to the inside because I want each character to sign in the sequence we meet them. They sign one side with a sharpee marker that coordinates with their color: Pink for Aurora, Blue for Cinderella, Orange for Tigger etc. Then when we got home we got paper copies of the pictures we took of the kids with each character and scrapbooked the page that opened with the autograph opposite. This saves me a lot of time and expense and sadness when a certain character isn't seen.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j7/RWJDRNS/autographbooks.jpg
The mod podge used on the girlish ones has glitter in it and is glossy. I let it dry well and stuck 3-D die-cuts on top and also mod-podged them. It sort of protected the paper and die-cuts from the rain and orange juice spills in the case of a character breakfast. Several thin coats wont bubble up like thick coats will tend to do.

The boys ones aren't as fancy but still really fun. We got a TON of compliments on these books!

Cute Cute Cute!!!

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k142/PrincessLeighsDaddy/th_MinniSailor002.jpg

I'm not usually a big fan of sailor type stuff, but I really like this! I'm definitely going to CASE this if/when we do a cruise!

You and me both. I was so nervous when I cut it!!! I am glad I did but . . . I went and bought replacement!!:rotfl:

:rotfl: Every time I go to WM I check to make sure they have some so I can get replacement if/when I decide to cut mine! Even if it's imitation replacement, it's better than nothing!

This is what I've been working on. It's for my neice's birthday. And yep, DD wants one too! I'm making a peasant top to go with it too, it is awaiting a ruffle!

The jeans are from voldemort, I have another pair coming for DD. - I'm going to add some bling to the sparkles on the pantleg

http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa198/2cutekidz/th_IMG_1859.jpg

When I started this outfit I wasn't too crazy abut the Tink fabric, and I wasn't sure how the two fabrics would look together. Now that it's done, I love it! I hope DN does too!

I've almost bought both of those fabrics several times, but kept putting them back! If I had picked them up at the same time, and saw how well they looked together then I might have actually bought some! Now, I think I might!

You all will just hate me - but I decided to dye a shirt - LOL! I just wasn't happy with the light color - and blah style shirt. This way I can pick a prettier T to start with.

In case you've never dyed before, make sure you use HOT water and just when you think it's time to take it out, don't! Especially since you're wanting a dark purple, leave it in a little longer it won't hurt it. And most importantly... make sure your dye is mixed well before adding your shirt!

Mom's for Mickey!

:rotfl2: Ok, who's making the bumper stickers?

I have to second that recommendation...I bought one in the 70's and it was invaluable so that I could understand what patterns meant, how to set in sleeves, how to ease, putting in zippers, cutting out patterns, everything you can imagine. It is a great book for anyone who wants to learn to sew and who is going from sewing straight stitches to making patterns and piecing patterns (Frankenpattern?) together.

HI,

I have been lurking for awhile. I am in awe of your talent! These clothes that you are creating are amazing!!
I am a fulltime nursing student and don't have the time to sew right now, so I am going to live vicariously thru you all~

Take care,
Jeanette

Hi Jeanette! I'm in nursing school too! Fun huh? Love those care plans! LOL.
My sewing hasn't been all that much lately so I feel a little out of the loop. But I have every intention of catching up this weekend!!

Does anyone remember the Pluto autograph dogs? I love mine. I got it years ago when I first went to Disney World and it is my prize posession. It seemed the characters really took their time and found a perfect space to write on him, and their autographs are perfect....Pluto signed with a paw print and a bone! I always call that my Pluto on a string....I have him in my office at work and everyong admires him...I know this is off topic, but just made me think of him when I saw the pretty autograph books.

Can you post pictures of what the insides look like so I have a better idea? Also, what age do you think is okay to start doing the autograph books? We did the autograph tee shirts (only time we ever did the whole autograph thing) when the boys were 4.5 and 8.5. They really seemed to enjoy it in the beginning, but after a while, it was me shoving the stuff in their hands"Oooh go get Tigger, or Pooh or whatever." I was thinking of doing an autograph pillowcase dress for DD who will be 3.5 on the next trip. She could wear it to preschool on her first day back home. But I am wondering if at three it's more for me than for her???

Ok, know that I am an intermediate beginner. This was my first zipper :cool2:

It's McCalls pattern #MP226 viewB with added wadded-up Walmart bags in each sleeve for pouffiness. We figured we could store all kinds of stuff in those huge sleeves! Iadded the ric-rac to the apron based on past Character Visits and an heirloom hem. Which was a treat and a test of my patience!

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j7/RWJDRNS/P8213698.jpg

Add a black ribbon in the hair and some black "Alice" Crocs and some tights and viola! I chose not to add a collar like in the animated movie. But one could easily be added (FrankenPattern!!!!!!). I'm also not sure If I want to add a pettiskirt. It's full onit's own!

Plus, I'd bet $5.oo within minutes of entering 1900 Park Fare, she'll spill orange juice on it and use her apron as a napkin to wipe off pancake syrup and a snotty nose.....

Thanks mama! I'll get to Michaels on Monday when the twins are back to school (no school on Fridays). I will use my 40% coupon. :thumbsup2 I have checked Waldermort many many times, is there somewhere they may be hiding that I have yet to check? Thanks darlin'

The spiral scrapbooks were purchased at Michaels but my Walmart has them(I think). The pages are thick and plain. I'm not sure of the size 6x6 and 6x8? Don't make them too big or you have to lug them around.

Good Afternoon ladies and gentleman;) !

Here is my latest creation!
Front:
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k142/PrincessLeighsDaddy/MinniSailor002.jpg

We aren't going on a cruise, but if we were this would work. Anyway she will have fun wearing it in the park!

Not perfect, but I have been busy with work, and three weeks from today we will be at my "happy place"!

Thanks for your help this morning everyone! Here is the Princess set with a sash I made.
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd139/momx2_Lo/DSC_0268.jpg

I love the sash! The other outfits were adorable too. The Tinkerbell one is so cute.

This is what I've been working on. It's for my neice's birthday. And yep, DD wants one too! I'm making a peasant top to go with it too, it is awaiting a ruffle!

http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa198/2cutekidz/IMG_1859.jpg

When I started this outfit I wasn't too crazy abut the Tink fabric, and I wasn't sure how the two fabrics would look together. Now that it's done, I love it! I hope DN does too!

Great work ladies and gentleman! I love the Tink Fabric, I haven't seen that one before.

I may have to make one of those Minnie Sailor outfits! We are hoping to go on a cruise sometime next year.

Wow! I have been checking in every so often but don't comment. This thread moves sooo fast but everyone is so inspiring. So I don't have any sewing experience but I will try just about anything even if it goes straight to the trash! I borrowed my sisters sewing machine and I actually made a wearable first day of preschool skirt!:thumbsup2 I will post a picture as soon as I am allowed. My mom was a very all around crafty person...wonderful seamstress. But quite a few years ago she had a stroke and now she has no interest in doing much of anything. Of course she blames it on not being able to see as well as she used to. I can barely even ask her anything because I think she thinks I would make her do it.:rolleyes1 I know she would be able to case most of the things on here. So anyway I will take all the advice I can from you all! So far I have listened and learned enough to make a skirt!

Bengalbelle-We are difinitely LSU football fans here:cheer2: :cheer2: We even watched the Saints game last night even though I was a little disappointed but it was only the first game right.
I just sent you a PM!

I don't remember if I ever told you how beautiful this turned out. I LOVE Alice!! Norah is gorgeous too. She's working that pose too :thumbsup2

Oh, and wiping the face with the apron is something my son would do...only it's a white shirt and spaghetti sauce ;)

Hi Jeanette! I'm in nursing school too! Fun huh? Love those care plans! LOL.
My sewing hasn't been all that much lately so I feel a little out of the loop. But I have every intention of catching up this weekend!!

Really cute! I love the fabrics together. Did the jeans come with the Tink on them and you added the ruffle? Did you use a pattern for the top? I really like it.

http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa198/2cutekidz/IMG_1853.jpg

I modified the stripwork jumper pattern from ycmt. I really only use the bodice from the pattern. The jeans were from the disney store a few years ago. (I just added the ruffle.) I found them on Voldemort for under $12 with shipping! I just won another pair for DD - those cost a bit more, but I got 3 other pairs of jeans too.

BTW - I love the new picture of your DD in your siggy!

(Hey! Hubby moved my sig pic  what a trouble maker ;))

When I saw your post, without your signature picture I thought, "I KNEW it!!! They went and fell out of that window!!"

These are nice!!! Lydia says we have to make that Tink one now!
Thanks for all the comments on DD's new outfit! I appreciate it!

The pattern that I used is McCall's M5031.

I wanted to get on and post this earlier, but gave up. The boards kept shutting down. The rumor is that someone was posting some nasty stuff and the moderators couldn't delete it fast enough! Yikes! What was this person thinking!:confused3

Hmmm, intersting! I was wondering what happened yesterday!

We started the autographs last year Arminda was 9 and Lydia was 4. They both really loved it. I think they would have loved doing it LOOOONG ago, but I was resistent to standing in line "just" for an autograph! What the HECK was I thinking????:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 This time, the autographs and characters were the highlight of our trip!! Bad Mommy!

Did any of the pictures of our "Fries Meet at the Beach" turn out?

Now, THAT sounds intriguing!

Would you mind if I ran the pics through photoshop and re-post? I have an action that will lighten them. If you prefer that I not do so, that is fine. Just thought I'd make the offer.

I was thinking the same thing. I want to see those outfits better!

Does anyone have any pictures of an Alice in Wonderland dress? I saw on 1 liked on ebay that I loved but it was over $100 so thats a nogo. I dont like the ones from the Disney store so I am going to try to make one! Any pictures would be great...

I believe AimeeG made one for her daughter too. I'm not sure if she used the same pattern as Umamma or not. She's probably busy whipping up another fantastic creation today!!

I do believe you owe her a Coke.

I contacted CRICUT about the possibility of Disney Princess cartridges and they emailed me with news that they are planning to release a Princess cartridge some time this Fall. That cinches it for me!! I'm asking my mom for an early Christmas present- the Cricut Expressions machine. If she agrees, I'm getting one tomorrow.

You can actually preorder the cartridges now. But being the smarty pants that they are, there are 2 cartridges with the Princesses split between them! Here are some links for you

I finished up a few things and wanted to post pics. The first is a total CASE from several different sources here. I'm very, very proud of this! I APPLIQUED the letters AND the Mickey head. I need to add a real ribbon bow to the Mickey head to make it Minnie!

And a twirly skirt

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i236/scrappindisney/IMG_2812.jpg

These are so cute!

I would imagine Archiver's still carries the line. If you want, I will look on my paper to tell you the correct name so you can call them. I try to stay away from that place! As for the lunch box, I can't remember. Maybe Michaels. I know Joann's carried them for a while. Oriental trading carries them. Again, this is something I have had for over a year and finally used! Since you scrap you know how we collect things! I went to 3 Targets today to try and find the Primas on clearance, no luck!!

I've been hunting for these papers as well. The brand in Reminisce and the line is called Real Magic. I did find several of the papers in stock at scrapbook.com. The Reminisce website also has a store locator which might help you. I got a couple of the metal lunchboxes from Oriental trading and I was very happy with them.

Ok---I am just back from the beach 2 days and have been trying to catch up but I totally need the support of my "friends" now. I know this is OT but you ladies are so great I needed to share my sad news with everyone. Last night DH found out he is being shipped overseas for a year. He starts training the day we get home from WDW and leaves for advanced training in Texas at the end of October before going over some time at the end of the year. We are struggleing on how to tell DD that her daddy is going for so long. And I am so worried about this trip now because on one side we will have great family time at one of the best places ever but then again it is knowing that when we come home, he leaves. Sorry to rant but I feel lost and he is training now and won't be home until Friday and I just needed to vent I guess. I don't even feel like sewing!

 I'm sorry, this must be very hard for you. I do hope you have a wonderful vacation together.

Ok, appliquing on T-shirts. What's the secret? I used a stabilizer, but it is still puckering. Are there different kinds of stabilizers? Do I need to use more than one piece? Is there a secret handshake?

Seriously, I do not know what is wrong with me! She is just so cute. I mean if she was asking for a gun, tatoo, or a cat I could say no. I say no all the time!!!

She was just so sweet and she likes the things I make her better!! That makes me want to make it even more. This is really good for my ego. I can only imagine her prances across that stage dresses as a mermaid. Funny thing we are going by boat on Saturday and when I found out the parade was Sunday I asked him if we could change. We can't so DH and I are going to take her back again. It is local so it is not a big deal. Oh, and it is $8. So I think we can swing it. Did I mention I hate seafood!:rotfl2:

Here is my daughter's halloween costume and my first adventure with satin. It wasn't too bad except the sleeves b/c the pins kept sliding out.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa119/princesssfws/disboutique041.jpg

I love her costume! Very pretty.

I am keeping my eyes propped open with toothpicks so I can catch up on the pages posted today. Its day two of school and I am exhausted! Hey Aimee can you pass me some of your Coke Zero??? :drinking1

I did manage to finish one more sewing project, this time for DD3. I am making a coordinating outfit for DD2 over the next few days. Here she is trying it on a few minutes ago. My favorite part is the half eaten candy necklace on her neck. The funny part was she automatically turned around to model the back :rotfl2: Does this strike any of you as funny??

http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u116/twob4him/th_IMGP4033.jpg

Finally, DD9 helped to sew the ruffle for the bottom of her t-shirt to go with her patch capris. She also "Be-Dazzled" the top and the pockets of the jeans! Yeahhhh for DD!!! I am really getting her hooked on sewing!:bride:

http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u116/twob4him/th_IMGP4036.jpg

The dress is so cute! And good for your 9 year old for getting into it too!

Now that is one accurate Mermaid!!! She must love to roll in it! LOL.

I found two patterns. I am not crazy about them but . . . I think they will work. I may have to make a Frankenpattern. The good thing is DH started grad school this week so he is MIA once the girls go to bed. I think online college is even more work. I hope he takes a Monk break tonight. Well, I guess it will be me, nasty slippery fabric, coke zero and Monk. I would have laughed at that five years ago.

ETA- I found a Mulan pattern if anyone is interested. I am not even go to think about it. Well, maybe just think.

I glue each piece by hand onto the t shirt. For me, there is always puckering, but I just iron the shirt out when I'm done.

I use a stablizer on the back, pretty thick almost felt like, does not iron on or anything, I just pin it in 4 corners. Then I use heat n bond for my fabric pieces. I have had great luck with this.

the only time it backfires is when you have a HUGE picture on all corners of the shirt, it makes it look too stuck outty, can't think of a better word. I actually did one last month I'll try and take a picture of. I trim around my applique when done to get rid of most of the stablizer.

Ok y'all. Here's my pooh toile skirt! I'm such a little kid - I've been dancing around all day in it.

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m133/celerystalker_2006/th_Picture010.jpg

And here are the pirate pants I made for Tammy - they're very simple, but it's the first pants I've made.
I did not make the shirt.

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m133/celerystalker_2006/th_Picture002-1.jpg

I haven't decided if I'm going to mess with the legs or not - maybe cut them into tatters a bit?

Nice skirt! I vote for tattering the pants. I made a pair of pants for DD8 as she's Peter Pan in her musical theatre class. What I did was cut triangles out along the hem of each leg to leave points. I sewed a straight stitch maybe 3/8-inch away from the edge then started pulling loose strings to help the fraying along.

I have some pics to share! The first two outfits (Hannah Montana and Tinkerbell) I cannot take credit for since a friend made them for me.

The next two outfits are mine - I need a little help from you all.

TIA for looking - and helping!;)

I think the Tinkerbell is my favorite but DD8 really likes the Hannah Montana. I've read ahead and have to say I think the puple you have will look great with the embellishments you are planning. Go for it! I'm sure you'll love it!

I wanted to add that I also put the link to the striped tights in the bookmarks.

And, if anyone gets an updated Joann's coupon, I would love it if you would PM me, so I can keep it current.

I finished up a few things and wanted to post pics. The first is a total CASE from several different sources here. I'm very, very proud of this! I APPLIQUED the letters AND the Mickey head. I need to add a real ribbon bow to the Mickey head to make it Minnie!

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i236/scrappindisney/th_IMG_2811.jpg

And a twirly skirt

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i236/scrappindisney/th_IMG_2812.jpg

I love these both so much! I always like adding yellow into the Mickey/Minnie inspired outfits, so I really think the yellow ruffles adds something to the twirl skirt. I may need to CASE this one.
Good Afternoon ladies and gentleman;) !

Here is my latest creation!

We aren't going on a cruise, but if we were this would work. Anyway she will have fun wearing it in the park!

Not perfect, but I have been busy with work, and three weeks from today we will be at my "happy place"!

It's fabulous, of course :)

This is what I've been working on. It's for my neice's birthday. And yep, DD wants one too! I'm making a peasant top to go with it too, it is awaiting a ruffle.

The jeans are from voldemort, I have another pair coming for DD. - I'm going to add some bling to the sparkles on the pantleg

http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa198/2cutekidz/IMG_1859.jpg

When I started this outfit I wasn't too crazy abut the Tink fabric, and I wasn't sure how the two fabrics would look together. Now that it's done, I love it! I hope DN does too!

I've always thought the same thing about that Tink fabric! But now, seeing the way you paired it with the dots, well, it's wonderful!

Minnie Apron - pretty much another CAB from voldemort - although I added the mickey/minnie heads on the ties

I haven't done an apron top yet, but I still love them. I think the addition of the Mickey heads was a great idea!

Here's my last year's Autograph Books:

Done with spiral scrapbooks (small) and scrapbook paper and decoupage glue (Mod Podge) and ribbon.

The boys ones aren't as fancy but still really fun. We got a TON of compliments on these books!

Really nice! Thanks for sharing, and while you're on vacation too! Now that's Disboutique-board dedication!

Those are too cute!!! I think that's what I'll do with some of my Minnie dot! I'll make a Tshirt dress for dd2! Thanks for the idea!

Thanks! You're welcome for the idea, it really was very quick and easy. I did use a ruffler foot though to make it even quicker.

That was so sweet of her! she looks beautiful with shorter hair! And great job on the outfits. I love them both!

Thank you so much :)

She looks beautiful! I love the new cut, it's very sassy looking!

Thanks! I'll tell her you said so, I think she'll like the 'sassy' description.

Oh, Linda, she looks adorable!!! Those are some cute outfits!

Hi everyone, as always, I'm in catching up mode. I'm loving all the outfits that I'm seeing, though it seems to be slowing down a bit? Perhaps because everyone is actually going off to WDW this month for free dining!

I need to send out a thank you to the ladies that shared the idea of Locks of Love that their daughters had participated in. Your sharing gave me the idea to ask my 8 year old if she would consider cutting off her hair to donate it. She made me very proud when she said yes!   This is the child who told me she was never going to cut her hair and agonized over the 1/2-inch trim I gave her last month. Anyway, here's her before and then her after is the newest outfit I finished for her.

While I'm at it, heres a t-shirt, twirl dress I completed for the baby. It's amazing how fast and easy this was! I definitely want to do more, maybe with long sleeves. I thought the top of the shirt was too plain so I simply added a sequin patch.

OHH, you are making me cry with these pictures!!! What a sweet heart she is!!! Tell me, did you cry when she got her hair cut? When Arminda did this, I was crying like a baby! She had never had a real haircut before (other than a trim).

I think she looks wonderful with the shorter hair! Such a beauty, inside and out!

And, your baby is absolutely darling! Good job on the dress!

My mom made Megan a mermaid outfit but she can't walk in it:

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e212/stephres/100_0407.jpg

I don't know, maybe put her in a stroller? Anyway, good luck! ps: I survive on Coke Zero as well!

I love looking at all the new outfits! I am working on something and I am down to the bottom ruffle so naturally I have run out of thread! I really wanted to finish it today. Think I should brave the 5pm traffic to run to JoAnn's with a cranky 5 year old? We'll see...

Oh my gosh Steph, I LOOOOOOOVE it!!!!!!!! She looks so stinkin cute!!! As always!!! Lydia has a mermaid outfit similar to this, but it's walkeable. The back is cut out. (hmm, that sounds kind of odd, doesn't it!)

I do NOT believe that that ADORABLE child could EVER get cranky! Look at THAT face!!!!!

B6697 http://www.butterick.com/item/B6697.htm?tab=costumes&page=10

I was thinking that this must be a new pattern, but then I realized it's a Butterick, and I haven't really looked at those since they NEVER go on sale! Arminda wants a Mulan costume, so I will have to check into this one! Thanks!!!

What mermaid patterns did you find? I can not wait to see what you make! I like the way you post updates on your progress!

There are directions for this mermaid costume on the bookmarks site, http://www.fancycostumes.co.uk/girls_designs.htm

OMG, that is too cute and she's a beautiful mermaid! Besides, mermaids don't walk, do they? ;)

Ok, appliquing on T-shirts. What's the secret? I used a stabilizer, but it is still puckering. Are there different kinds of stabilizers? Do I need to use more than one piece? Is there a secret handshake?

There are many types of stablizer so it can be overwhelming to know which one to get. I got lucky when I bought one on sale I liked after trying just 2 others. I use Sulky's Totally Stable iron-on stabilizer for tshirts and jeans (with Heat n Bond LITE fusible). For me, it just works so much better if the stabilizer is stuck to the fabric. I sometimes have to re-iron the stabilizer after doing some stitching because it will eventually pull away from the fabric. I tried using a different stabilizer that was stiffer but had to be pinned and the tshirt fabric seemed to shift which caused puckering. More than one layer of stabilizer can be used if more stiffness is needed but re-ironing seems to work for me... and I hate to use more stabilizer than necessary since I go through so much as it is.

She was just so sweet and she likes the things I make her better!! That makes me want to make it even more. This is really good for my ego.

Definitely enjoy it while it lasts! Zoe's already getting very picky about what she will wear that I make. :sad2: She told me she wants "normal" clothes for school.

BTW - If you're looking for inspiration on your mermaid costume, check Voldemort searching "boutique style360 custom mermaid costume 6" in the completed listings. The basic dress looks like a simple halter style but it's the "tail" and ornamentation of the dress that makes it so much more than a simple dress-up costume. After seeing your Belle dress, I'm sure you could whip up a mermaid costume in no time. :rotfl:

Zoe started school yesterday... finally. Unfortunately, this summer she made it clear that she doesn't want to wear clothes that make her stand out too much so I tried to keep her "First Day" outfit simple. The tshirt was fine but I have a feeling the skirt won't be worn again. :(

How did you do the scrunchie straps. I really like that effect.
Carrie

http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa198/2cutekidz/IMG_1859.jpg

For the straps, I cut elastic the length that I want the strap. I make the fabric for the strap double the length of the elastic. (sewing right sides together and turning the strap right side out) Insert the elastic and secure the ends. I like the straps this way, no need for buttons! There is plenty of "give" for easy dressing! (Hope my directions make sense!)

When my youngest turned 6, this was her infamous statement, "I LIKE IT, BUT I WON'T WEAR IT." She is now 24, and we still laugh about it...I would take her shopping, and see these adorable party pants, and I'd say, how about this, do you like it, and she would reply, I like it but I won't wear it...and she didn't!

There are many types of stablizer so it can be overwhelming to know which one to get. I got lucky when I bought one on sale I liked after trying just 2 others. I'm not sure about other WalMarts but I've never seen it at our local store. It has a very small fabric department so I rarely go there for more than thread or fusible. I usually get my stabilizer from JoAnns and it's on the wall with the notions.

I think Zoe would probably be OK wearing what I make at Disney. I guess she doesn't have to worry about what her friends will think that far from home. LOL I've threatened to sell some of the outfits that she won't wear but she doesn't like THAT of course. I really should, though, since they aren't likely to get worn again before they're too small for her.

DW says that I have to be Tweedle Dum though!;)

Or you could just let her think that's which one you are. ;)

I think I found out about the Sulky stabilizer here too! I tried the pin on basting kind, and it just did not work.

Now the Sulky is amazing! You iron it on, stitch away with no puckering, and then it tears off easily! Makes applique work SO MUCH EASIER!

Also, I found the bobbin thread that Lisa had mentioned too! It really is GREAT! It lasts and lasts, and it doesn't add the extra bulk to your stitching! You NEED to get that too!

I can say that I have learned SO MANY GREAT TIPS ON THIS THREAD!

Everyone keep up the good work and the many inspiring designs!

OK I paid for my beginning sewing class that was supposed to start Monday. It has been delayed now. :( They need 2 more people to start it. Anyway DD 14 has let me know she has no intrest in me making her a skirt. So I am going to make it for my best friends youngest foster daughter that we are in the process of trying to adopt. I saw a cute sock monkey material when I went to the sewing shop that is doing the class so I am going to use that.
(I really have a point about to get to it lol)
I thought I would go ahead and get started cutting a sock monkey out to applique on a tshirt to go with it. I went back looking for a sock monkey applique that I swear I thought I saw on this thread. And nothing. :( Am I losing my mind and there was not one here? I have looked through coloring pages and not found anything that would be simple enough for me to use. Wondering if someone can point me in the direction I need to go to find it? Or perhaps someone has done one before?

Ok, what is bobbin thread? Where do you find it? Does it come in colors? I'm not familiar with that at all.

I actually found it in the thread display at Waldemort! It comes in a small cone shaped spool.

It is a VERY thin thread, comes in white only (at least that is all that they had), and when you wind it on your bobbin, you wind, and wind, and wind, and wind, and wind.(Did you get the mental picture?):goodvibes
This makes it last forever, so you aren't constantly checking or running out of bobbin thread mid stream!

Ok, what is bobbin thread? Where do you find it? Does it come in colors? I'm not familiar with that at all.

I've only seen it in black and white but I have seen it at Wal Mart. It should be with the regular thread and is labeled Bobbin Thread. (BTW - Mine is Coats and Clark brand but there may be others. The spool looks like the embroidery thread spools so check around if you don't see it immediately.)

It's finer than usual sewing thread so more fits on the bobbin and the bobbin doesn't need to be refilled so quickly. I don't use it for sewing seams but it's the only thread I use for the bobbin on applique. Because it's finer, it doesn't add bulk and the satin stitch seems to have better coverage than when I use regular thread for the bobbin. What I like best about it, though, is I'm not constantly changing the bobbin because the thread runs out. Earlier this week I appliqued a Mickey Surf set (jeans and tee) but never had to change the bobbin even though I was sewing for 6 or more hours.

FYI - For serious appliquers and machine embroiderers, you can buy prefilled bobbins! I'm too cheap for that but it is tempting... ;)

Thanks Aimee! I might have to get a couple too at that price! Easier to cut the pattern on the correct size. I really don't want to get into copying a pattern from the original, and cutting the copy.

Sometimes I have a hard enough time seeing the lines on some patterns. Seems like they run out of ink. I have printed things on my computer in the "Fast Draft" mode that were darker and easier to read!

I really thought I'd have a few more years before the attitude started but it's been around for about a year already. I'm hoping this means we'll get all the sulky "teen angst" years over before she's 10 and then we can be friends again. :rotfl2: Actually, it's not that bad. She'll still hold my hand as we walk in the parking lot or stores and she likes to curl up with me on the couch. This morning the parents of her classmates were invited to come for a short meeting with the teacher. The kids went outside to play while the adults stayed inside... many even managing to fit into the kindergarten sized seats without looking totally ridiculous (FYI - I stood at the back of the room... I know my limits!!!) When the kids came back inside, Zoe waved and called across the room twice so at least she isn't at the point where she wants to pretend I'm not her mother. :thumbsup2

Sorry I didn't see this earlier - I just got home from work a little bit ago.

Sure, I don't mind at all! But, if you don't get around to it, I'm hoping to take some more pics tomorrow! Thanks for the offer!

Did you see I ran them through? I posted them a few pages back, hope you don't mind!
Hope it's ok that I went ahead and did this. If it isn't, I'll gladly take them down. I know that the sweet little girl is really washed out now, but I was trying to lighten it up enough to see the awesome outfits.

That was so nice of you - thanks!!

Zoe started school yesterday... finally. Unfortunately, this summer she made it clear that she doesn't want to wear clothes that make her stand out too much so I tried to keep her "First Day" outfit simple. The tshirt was fine but I have a feeling the skirt won't be worn again. :(

This is as she walked away from me... as if she'd be able to leave me outside. :lmao:
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c368/zoe_diva/th_bts1.jpg

Here she realizes I'm actually planning to go inside with her!!! ::scared1:
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c368/zoe_diva/th_bts2.jpg

Oh the embarrassment - I made a major faux pas and actually asked for a "good bye" kiss when there were other kids nearby! :rolleyes1
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c368/zoe_diva/th_bts4.jpg

The good news is she loves school and thinks it's FUN. The bad news is I have to revise my plans for new outfits I was going to make for her to wear to school. :headache:

I love the pictures Lisa!!! Zoe looks adorable!!!
Ok, tonight we were at a restaurant and had to wait an infinite amount of time for a table and it was way past her dinnertime and she took my face in her hands and said an inch away from my nose, "I'm hungry!" like 50 times! I didn't know whether to kill her or kiss her!

Oh, and you should see her hop all around the house in her mermaid outfit: it's quite amusing!!
That sounds exactly like something Lydia would do!

:rotfl: I'm cracking up picturing Megan hopping around in the mermaid outfit!!!
When I was younger, I use to tell everyone that I was going to be a mermaid at Weeki Wachee. I use to love going there! We had a pool at home, and I would practice swimming around with my legs tied together with a piece of shoelace! Unfortunately, I wasn't that young when I did that! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am going to use Simplicity 4043 for the Mermaid tail and McCalls MP228 for the top. I have to put the girls finishing touches on their crab dresses before I can start. Turns out the parade is on Sun so we are going both days. I think we will just go for the parade Sun.

I will post photos later of the fabric. DH is sort fuming and sulking at the same time!

I love the Simplicity pattern for the tail, it's going to look great!!!

Just wanted to encourage all the nursing students on this thread! I'm sure you'll all be awesome nurses and goodness knows we need more of those!

I've been a NICU nurse for 7 years now and I love it! I does cut into the sewing time, though, LOL!

Good luck to you all and have fun with all of those nursing diagnoses!

Ok, I have been slowly trying to catch up all day and thought I better comment on some of these quotes before I forget what I wanted to say!

OK, I LOVE this idea. Easier than the chipboard version I was going to attempt to finish in the next 2 weeks! Can you share a pic of the inside of a finished one?

My mom made Megan a mermaid outfit but she can't walk in it:

I don't know, maybe put her in a stroller? Anyway, good luck! ps: I survive on Coke Zero as well!

I love looking at all the new outfits! I am working on something and I am down to the bottom ruffle so naturally I have run out of thread! I really wanted to finish it today. Think I should brave the 5pm traffic to run to JoAnn's with a cranky 5 year old? We'll see...
I LOVE it! My DD wants a mermaid outfit like that. She actually want fins so she cant walk :confused3

AWWWWW! Norah's the type that has best friends wherever she goes. WHEN will you and Hannah be there again? Sept. 22-Oct 2nd by chance?

I 'm REALLY hoping to hook up with someone I "know" to go see Choo Choo Soul at Playhouse Disney on the 24th or 29th of September. Anyone? It'll just be me and Norah. The boys opted out for some reason :confused3
That is actually our planned MGM day:goodvibes We will go with you guys! Amanda doesnt LOVE them, but she will want to see it regardless because she 'knows' them if that makes sense. (she wouldnt ask to see them but she will be excited to see them when she realizes they are there, you know?) Let me know and we can make plans to meet up that day.

Oh my goodness! That is an awesome costume!!! What kind of fabric is that? Is like swimsuit material? It's very shimmery - perfect for a mermaid! And your DD is a gorgeous mermaid!

We are going to a Seafood/ Chesapeake Bay Festival this weekend. This is the dress I made for both of my girls. This is the baby's first custom. I am so excited.

I do suggest not learing how to applique with the MD Blue Crab. (They are blue until you steem them. Yummo! Well I don't like them but a lot people do.:rotfl: )

I still have to cut some little threads. I was busy watching Monk and Psych tonight.:rotfl2:

me three....another RN student here too! I made a few outfits for our trip back in June and since then I've been buying fabric without time to sew any of it, lol...

Don't know what number I make but I have two semesters left to have my RN. There is no way at all I have the time to do anything right now!!! Between kids and traveling to school and doctors I barely have time to study!! :coffee: Good luck to all the other students-- it will be worth it all in the end!!!

I've copied you on the straps! It looks so nice and they stay up on her little shoulders better with the elastic. I love that tink outfit!

Aww that is absolutely precious amieeg. I LOVE the blue fabrics! I am seriously wondering if you ever sleep though lol.

Well, not tonight. I am in Mermaid heaven. Last night I got 9 hours and 45 minutes. Hope that makes everyone feel better about my sleeping habbits!:rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: I did these dresses for the most part on Thursday when my oldest was at school.

Wednesday we picked everything out. I had everything already but, I laid it out on the dining room table. Hannah helped pick the trims and the order fabric went in. She supervised the cutting. She is also in charge of the pin cushin. Hannah is an extremly destructive child. She likes to see how things are made and how they work. Sewing has been great for her. She loves to sit on my lap when I am using the serger. Although, the little stinker took the foot off my machine tonight!

After I got her dressed for school on Thursday Hannah came in the kitchen. I was getting her lunch box. She looked up at me and said Thank you for making my dress Mommy. It is beautiful! It was not one of those forced, "What do you say?" It was genuine. That is why I am in Mermaid heaven tonight. Hopefully it will not turn into Mermaid @#$$^%$%Q@$^%^.

With that I am off to bed. Have a great Saturday everyone. I will post Crab-tastic pics tomorrow. That's not going to get old. hehehehe

I'm finally working on the autograph books. I have the 5 X 7 book and I've covered the front and back with fabric. I "glued" the fabric on using Mod Podge and I've gone over each piece with two coats. Tomorrow the kiddies will be adding the scrapbook stickers that they picked out at Joann's. Should I use ModPodge as my "glue" for these items too? I plan on sealing them using ModPodge and Acrylic Sealer. The "stickers" are raised (3d) and I'm curious as to what tool to use to apply the ModPodge. I used a sponge brush on the fabric, but I'm scared that would ruin the raised portions of the "stickers". Does anyone have advise?
