OOh, I love the outfits, especially the CRT one. Is that also a panel piece appliqued? Do you just cut around the pictures and then applique it?
The Cinderella is hand pieced w/hand embroidered face. The Snow White is a panel piece, and yes I just cut around it and appliqued onto shirt.

Is it just me or is it taking FOREVER to post? Are we at 1000 pages yet? I'm tired and I wanna go to bed!
It's not just you, it's taking me forever too. I am doing other things (brushing teeth, washing face, etc.) while it takes it's sweet time!

Can't wait to see all the outfits!!! You just love to tease don't you!
I wish . . . My Dad watched my girls on Wednesday so I could finish up some stuff. He gave them Sharpie tattoos. The photoshoot was cancelled! DD had school today so we will try again on Friday.

Only to help to get to 1000.
That is really gross!!! I am a really picky meat eater. I do fine with chicken and pork but that is it. Red meat ewwwwwwww and I think I might die if I had to cook hamburger. Yucko . . .
I am a little more animal sensitive. I am not passing judgement at all. We are just not hunters.
Funny story-
My brother live is New Orleans and took us to Commanders Palace. It the nicest restaurant down there. Eight years ago breakfast for seven cost $450. Anyway, I do not eat eggs. I did my usual scan for chicken and came up empty. The closest thing to chicken was quail. So I ordered it. Two baby birds arrived. I was so upset. An hour into breakfast my Dad finally looked at me and said you do not have to eat them. I laughed so hard I cried. I picked around these tiny little creatures all morning. I just could not bare to do it. My Dad and cousin had no problem at all gobbling them up!
Squirrell -- YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a meat eater but I will not touch squirrell, deer, quail or anything else of that nature. Give me cow, pig or chicken and I am good to go. I am so thankful that noone in my closest families hunt, I just couldn't take it.
FWIW, I had an uncle that hunted. He and my aunt had like 5 deer heads on their wall and one night I went to spend the night over there. Let's just say that I got no sleep b/c I felt every direction I turned they were watching me. Kind of like a freaky Haunted Deer Mansion.
My husband just prefers to let his meat run free in the wild before he eats it, as compared to couped up in a pen. I really don't think it's gross or yucky, I just prefer not to eat the squirrel or rabbit. I will eat the venison though, if it's a good one.
My kids hunt. I am an avid anti hunter, anti gun person (yep and married to a cop for 15 years.) I tried every persuasion I could think of to get them not to hunt. So I finally gave in and they can duck/goose hunt. Only after they passed a hunters safety course, and they had to be 10. People here start EARLY!! DH's family owns a small hunting lodge on an island about 20 miles south of here. Anyway, 4 generations go together. I try to tell myself, that is a good thing. We do have a very firm rule though. They are not allowed to talk about it in front of me, and it cannot be eaten in my home, and everything they kill must be eaten. Worse thing though...oldest just loves to hunt. He desperately wants to hunt Bambi. Yes girls Bambi. So in 6th grade I told him "If you get on the headmasters list all 4 terms of every year of middle school, you can hunt dear." So guess what...now I'm hating myself. I mean come on with all of those teenage hormones over a span of three years wouldn't you think in one class he would have gotten below a 93%??? Well I did, and was sadly wrong. So now I kick myself. Hunting is a big way of life here on the Eastern Shore though. When I was growing up, I had the only father who didn't hunt. So now my son is gonna hunt, I will be a nervous wreck!
That has to be pretty hard for you. I'm glad I don't have any big problems with it, it would be really difficult for me it I did. But, at least your son looks great in hunters orange!!!
To help get us to 1000 pages, I've finally gotten my pics ready for viewing. This is from our August trip.
My girls in their matching Minnie dresses. Me in my Minnie top. And DS in his Mickey shorts and shirt.

DD4 in her Nemo twirl skirt and top. DS1 in Nemo shorts and shirt. Waiting for others on the Dinosaur ride at AK.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b27/chanandbrian/Disney%20Designs/AK.jpg
DD5 in her Nemo twirl skirt and top. DN6 in her princess overalls. And DS again. They were waiting for us to come off of Dinosaur. DD5 is showing some leg!
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b27/chanandbrian/Disney%20Designs/AKBubbles.jpg
Getting ready for the Pirate & Princess Party. DS has on overalls. His material and the hidden Mickey on the back of my shirt are the same. The rest of the girls have the pirate fabric. DD5 and DD4 have Minnie dots and tulle under their pirate skirts. DN10's is a dress. Shirred all around. DN5 has a top that ties in the back. My top is shirred in front.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b27/chanandbrian/Disney%20Designs/PirateOutfits.jpg
Captain Jack Sparrow. DN10, DN6 and DD4. You can see the back of DN6's top that I made. She was a last minute add on and that's what I whipped up for her. It ties in the back.

Well, Makayla wanted to wear pants...I made this one piece little number that you step into and it buttons at the top. Made an XL infant, but it is rather big on her. I felt like I should have added more, and considered putting Mickey gloves on the butt, but never got to it. But she was comfy.
She was picked to be Mrs. Potts today in Belle's Storybook time at MK. It was too cute...except that she stood up there picking her nose...oh, 2 year olds...but it was really sweet...she is such a little acress...
It was very hot today...and as the day went by her hair got curlier and curlier. One more day with my little angel...

Too funny... My sister and I were just discussing the American girl for my DN5, but I don't think she is ready yet. I told her I got the My Twinn catalogue today and was wondering the size difference. I log in and wha-la our questions were answered. The my twinn is really big! My two older nieces 9 and almost 8, I let hold and gently play my American girl dolls, (Elizabeth and Kit) which they treated with great care... Yes, they are my dolls, and they are on display in my scrapbook room...errr sewing room.
Somehow I got conned into making sashes and hairbows for my brother in law's brother's wedding. DN5 is the flowergirl, anyhoo must get back to the bows.
Happy 1000 everyone!!

Very cute outfits! I just bought a doll pattern to make some matching outfits for DD10's American Girl dolls. I bought her a My Twinn doll a few years ago. Here are a couple of photos of her with her "twin" whom she named Mary Kate.
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd149/jhaml/P1000785.jpghttp://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd149/jhaml/P1000810.jpg
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd149/jhaml/P1000791.jpg
She is a cute doll, she definitely larger than the AG dolls. One cool thing is that her body is bendable. You can pose her all sorts of ways. It was fun to see her with the same little freckle under her eye that DD has. On the other hand, my DD has curly hair. If you leave it alone it dries in ringlets. I thought I picked the best hairstyle, and they had a photo of DD, but the doll came with slightly wavy hair so I ended up sending her to their doll hospital and paying for new hair, which did turn out better, but still not as cute as DD's. However it did not take long for the hair to turn to frizz. My friend's DD has a My Twinn without curly hair and it also became a frizzy nightmare. DD does not play much with her at all but I do like her for the sentimental value. However, DD has 3 AG dolls with whom she plays every day. I took her to the AG store in Chicago last year for her b-day and she took her Kirsten doll to the hair salon there because her hair was getting frizzy and out of control. She also has Samantha and Kit and their hair is gorgeous and easy to style and never gets frizzy, anyhow, the stylist there said that Kirsten and Kaya have the most difficult hair, the rest of the dolls have a different texture. We love both the MT and the AG dolls, for playing with the AG have worked out better, to treasure as a lookalike of your daughter, nothing beats the detail of the MT.
Many many thanks for your review. I think I'll stick with AG. My daughters each have one, but they are on stands and on dressers. They are not alloud to play with them. This particular one will be a play with doll. AG dolls are a bit less expensive and I already have patterns for doll clothes for them. Again, thank you!

Cute pictures! Are the MyTwinn dolls a lot larger that AG dolls? Your daughters looks pretty tall. It sure is pretty, just like your daughter! And, we are watching a Mary Kate and Ashley video right now! I think it's Mall Party. I know I'm going to be singing these songs for the rest of the day now!
(okay that is a quote from Teresajoy, don't know what I did to it)
In the interest of 1000 pages, here is a photo of My Twinn Mary Kate and American Girl Kirsten. Mary Kate is even larger than I thought! But check out her cool rotating ankles. This photo will illustrate my previous comments on My Twinns bad hair!

Just real quick about the AG dolls. When my DD was two we bought her a "tester dol." It was a Gotz but, it was from Marshalls. So it was $20. She took really good care of it so on her third birthday we took her to The American Girl Place. A week before I told her this is what we were doing for her Birthday. She looked at the website and looked at every doll and every dress!
DD really liked Niki but I was worried about the hair. She picked out Kit. The hair is great. It looks just as nice as it did in March and she plays with it. She still plays with Polly Dolly. AG says the dolls are for 8 and up but I think it depends on your child.
I may get Niki and stash it for next year. We will see.

DD5 has the bitty twins and she got Jess for Easter this year (the Easter bunny was VERY generous this year!) She was 4 when she got her and has taken very good care of her. I still need to brush out her hair every so often though. I had bought her Nicki to give to her next year, but I sold her. Her hair was going to take alot of care! You can't just brush it, you need to use a pick and to keep the curls you have to twist the hair around your finger. Not % year old friendly. I sold it to a friend who's DD6 looks alot like Nicki.

For those of you interested in AG dolls there is free shipping code good until Oct. 22 I think. It will save us $20 on my daughter's Bitty Twins and stroller.:cheer2: The code is AF72167. I understand that discounts are rare. Do they ever have Black Friday deals?
Also I was wondering if the My Disney Girl clothes would fit AG doll. I just love the little Minnie outfit, and thought that would be too cute to put on an AG doll, give as gift to suprise some unsuspecting kiddos a trip to Disney!

 Good morning…I have some time this am before we are off to EPCOT…and I just feel led to tell my dear friends how my life has been touched. Our youngest of 5 is a recovering crack addict. She was so cute and sweet and adorable, just like all of the dear little girls on this board. We live in PA Dutch country and even have a horse and buggy parking area at our waldemart. Drugs was the last thing I ever worried about in our little middle class lives.
To make a long story short…after 2 years of trying everything, we finally resorted to tough love..but the drugs meant more to DD than anything and she just walked out…for a while we knew she was with a 50 year old drug dealer (she was 20 by then) but then I lost touch with her. I did everything I could to try to find her, and discovered she was in North Phila, left there by him, and selling herself for drugs – a horror a mother and father can’t imagine…I just remember being hysterical at the time. DH would drive 100 miles to N Phila and walk the streets Fri and Sat nights looking for her or for clues…it was a war zone..helicopters, guns, knives, drugs, prostitutes, murders…everyone knew her..she was one of the few persons of noncolor in the area…but no one would talk…the police had picked her up twice for prostitution but wouldn’t hold her…so we lost her…she was in shelters..crack houses…and even the city detectives told us that white prostitutes were being beheaded and we should check the morgues. I cried myself to sleep everynight…and the only thing that kept DH and I from losing our minds and our lives was the birth of Makayla. I would hear my DH sobbing softly as he rocked her to sleep, remembering how he always rocked DD to sleep…we spent every minute we could with Makayla as it was our only joy in life…she is truly my angel…the last straw for me was going into a little shack of a barbeque place in N Phila and asked a man working there if he knew DD and he said yes, he fed her a few times because she was hungry. I died…thinking that my beautiful DD was begging for food when all she had to do was pick up the phone and call me…that night I went to my oldest DD’s church in the suburbs and we prayed in a communal prayer session for 3 hours, and I asked God (as I always did) just to keep her safe, that’s all, just be with her…and for all the other young girls and boys who are addicts..there were so many parents at this church praying for their teens and young adult children addicted to drugs that it was an eye opener. I really couldn’t take it anymore and I was going to go home in the am…at 5:45am DD left a tearful message on my cell phone while I slept that she was ok and wanted to come home…praise God. He kept DD safe…long story short she is clean for 18 mo, went to rehab, halfway house, married the man who saved her from the streets, and has a 6 month old baby boy. DD knows it was God who saved her and her faith in Jesus that kept her from dying numerous times..she is neg for HIV, hepatitis and all STD’s a true miracle.
And to this day, our little Makayla has been our gift from God who kept us going when we thought we couldn’t cry one more tear or take one more breath from the pain of all DD was going through….
So please excuse my posting so much of DGD. And God bless each of you and your wonderful little miracles…

Lori
Here are some I did for Zoe last Halloween. I think there were washed & dried 2-3 times. I don't like a lot of long threads/strings so I do what I call "grooming" by pulling any threads hanging from the patches and trim the strings from the denim at the hem. I prefer to have the patches with a short "fringe" of fraying. After a few washes, most of the loose threads are done coming out and the stitching keeps the rest in place. The hem, then, is the only place where more strings might be an issue but I have stitching about 1/4" up from the edge so that eventually stops more fraying.
BTW - I've lightly ironed similar jeans to get the fringe to lay neatly. I didn't for this photo but after "grooming" and ironing, the jeans looked almost the same as when they were first stitched.

Thanks for that code!
The My Disney Girl clothes do fit Amercian Girls but they are a tad snug. We have a few of the MDG outfits and I have to tug them a bit to get them on. My dd can not do it on her own. Well, maybe she could but she'd probably bust a seam. ;) DD's AG has been wearing Minnie panties for over a year simply because the were so hard to get on so they are going to stay there for awhile . LOL

okay i am finished . here is what i have been working on for the DCA Halloween treat party. just don't look to hard it was my first attempt at mickey/minnie heads.. http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l148/spongemommie05/kidspirates3.jpg
OhM'Gosh!! Those are too great! Don't change a thing!!! I love that you switched it up and did stripes on the little ones pirate shirt!!
All I can say is I'm glad I haven't eaten dinner yet or it would be all over my keyboard with all this talk about eating squirrels. YUCK! I can barely get my kids to eat real chicken I can't believe yours will eat squirrels. When I was 5 my dad brought home two rabbits he had shot and I sat in the kitchen with my Peter Rabbit book crying that Daddy had killed Peter Rabbit. He forced me to eat a piece, NOT a good Daddy
I had a similar experience. Only when I saw thumper( he was cleaning it under the carport) I ran to the front porch onto a lounge chair and covered my face w/ the first available object which was my mothers Cosmo!! Of course at 5 I thought that was a "dirty" magazine and closed my eyes!!:rotfl: Then I was not only upset about the bunnies, but embarrassed that I had picked up the cosmo. All in all a devastating experience. The worst part is that my dad fried the rabbit that night and to THIS VERY DAY I get sick when I smell butter frying. My family mostly used margarin, so I don't remember ever knowing the smell of butter until then. And as a matter of fact, we used it so infrequently that I was grown before I smelled it and found out that that wasn't the smell of rabbit cooking, that it was REAL butter. My DH's family would NEVER use margarine, so I've learned to get past it, luckily we're a heart healthy family and use olive oil or canola oil mostly. But when DH wants eggs, I still gag while I'm cooking them!!!:rotfl:

Tessa couldn't stop talking about these outfits! She keeps saying "They're so cute!". She's not easily impressed (see the previous post with the Princess Dinner pictures if you don't believe me).
At the rate we seem to be going today, I'm wondering if it will be more like tomorrow! Where is everyone?? DisneyWorld or somewhere????:confused3
Try cleaning up puke, puking, and spending a lot of time in the bathroom....
I spent the morning at the Disney Store. They had there clearance and additional 40%. They had a BUNCH of the Disney Irons marked down to 2.99 then 40% off that! 2.99-1.20 equals 1.79!!!!!!! I bought Sleeping Beauty, Cars, Tinkerbell and Buzz.
Brag, brag, brag, brag, brag....(we don't have a Disney store):rotfl2:
Does anyone know how hard it would be to put ric rac on the seams of a Redondo spiral skirt? I was just thinking that I have some glow in the dark ric rac which might look cute with the Buzz fabric. Lydia found some material that is sort of spacey that she wants me to put with it. (from my stash)
I don't think it would be very hard, but you'd need a LOT of ric-rac!
All I can say is I'm glad I haven't eaten dinner yet or it would be all over my keyboard with all this talk about eating squirrels. YUCK! I can barely get my kids to eat real chicken I can't believe yours will eat squirrels. If you think that was traumatic, think of my poor mother. She had a PET rabbit that her mom killed and made her eat!!!
In defense of my BIL, he is a very responsible hunter. He eats everything he kills and he doesn't hunt for trophies. There isn't a single deer head on my sister's wall!
I can't believe I missed out on the 1000th page!! See the above response to my sister if you don't know why I wasn't here. I think that alone deserves some taffy, to replenish all the nourishment I lost!

:confused3 Okay...........I need some reassuring from this wonderful thread. You guys don't know me but I have been reading thru this thread for the past two weeks. My name is Michele, I am here in Tucson, AZ and am married with a DD8. I went out and bought some minnie red dot material and have a pattern pinned to it. It is the sewing for dummies skirt pattern.
 I AM SO AFRAID TO CUT IT OUT AND START.........YIKES!!
I have read thru the directions and read thru them, but they still seem a bit confusing. I am determined to do this without calling my mom back home in NY. I have had my sewing machine now for two years, but only bought so I had one when my mom was here to sew with or hem things that I needed. :goodvibes
Can anyone send some encouraging words my way or tips, I would greatly appreciate it!
I am going to read thru some more posts, then maybe go cut. I need to do this we leave on October 5th. :cool1:

Yeah, most of my traumatic experiences are humorous. I swear I'm not lyin' about the butter thing. I must have been 22 before someone said, "No, I swear I'm not cooking a rabbit, it's just butter heating in the pan" before I knew. But I'm sure my family get more laughs out of the Cosmo part, my mom get hysterical over it still!!!
Heather, hope you feel better soon!!

:cool1:
:scared: :scared: Okay, Michele, deep breaths......deep breaths......you can do it, you can do it.....:scared: :scared:
I'll :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: you on too!! I am at best a novice seamstress as well. As a matter of fact I usually use the term "sewer" instead cause I'm so NOT CLOSE to being a professional!!! Those sewing for dummies patterns generally mean just that. They are totally for newbies. and You've gotta start somewhere. Remember, you can do it and we're here for you just holler if you need a hand. Or even just an ear.:grouphug:

 Good morning…I have some time this am before we are off to EPCOT…and I just feel led to tell my dear friends how my life has been touched. Our youngest of 5 is a recovering crack addict. She was so cute and sweet and adorable, just like all of the dear little girls on this board. We live in PA Dutch country and even have a horse and buggy parking area at our waldemart. Drugs was the last thing I ever worried about in our little middle class lives.
So please excuse my posting so much of DGD. And God bless each of you and your wonderful little miracles…

Wow what a story. Of course we don't mind looking at that adorable little girl in those cute clothes you have made for her. You seem like a very loving Grandmother. God has blessed you because you never gave up on your DD, you searched for her in the worst places. I hope everything continues to go well. It sounds like you are having a great trip to WDW on top of it all. THank you for sharing your story too!

What a wonderful new beginning your daughter has. It is a blessing to hear how God turned your daughters’ life around. I am so happy she was able to make those changes.
Without going into too much detail, that is exactly the life my kids birth mom was leading when we received our precious gifts from God. We have had them in our home for 4.5 years (though is seems like forever). I just received a call from their birth mom a few weeks ago (imagine my shock when I answered the phone and she told me who she was. I almost hung up.) and she also has cleaned up her life. She is sober, drug free and recently married. She is also expecting a new baby in about 5 months. I really think the Lord is blessing her for all of the sacrifice she made in giving us these three beautiful children. As sad as it was for her to let them go (she gave up rights to us) she was giving us the three children God wanted us to have. They were always meant to be ours. I can not imagine the hurt it caused her to walk away from the only thing in this world she loved. When she called I thanked her for being so selfless and for giving Chad and I three of the four best things we have in our lives. I just sent her some pictures and video of the kids I just took. I also sent her some samples of schoolwork, stories they have written and pictures they have drawn. I think she will love seeing all of it. She doesn’t want to see them right now, but it is a possibility in the future. She just want's to see what they look like and see how well they are doing.
Sorry to get so sappy :sad1: I just sent the letter and pictures today. I logged on here and saw this post so I thought I would respond.

You can do it! :cheer2: For me pinning it is one of the hard parts. If things don't look right you can repin it before you start cutting! Luckily Minnie Dot doesn't have any patterns or stripes to match. Some fabric has a one way design and if you don't cut it out right you have upside down Mickeys! Take a photo too and post it here if you get stuck.
Good LUCK!

Michele, You can do it! Just go slow and know that you will make some mistakes but, it will turn out ok. Everytime you make something you will get better and better and it will get easier. (trust me I am in the middle of that process lol)
Here are my overalls, (I know not Disney but oh well) I finally found my card reader:

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d29/moneycll/overalls-3.jpg
I used quilters fat quarters from JoAnn's and I bought that Sulky thread (not cotton) it was really nice, very shiny. Denim is so easy to sew on I was suprised. I didn't put anything on the back yet, I might add a leaf I don't know.
Oh I wanted to add I did the bib part with the button holes. Something we had talked about on here about 500 pages ago at least. It was a little fiddley but, not too bad. I think I would do it again. It is worth it to me to have the whole bib covered.

Welcome! I have found some patterns and made a few things for my daughter (2) and my neice (12 mo). I am not much of a "sewer" myself, but it is fun and who cares if it's not perfect. Hang around here too long and we might talk you into making something yourself! When are you going in January? I also have a DD,DS,DS, and DD in that order. We will be in the World Jan 18-25, second trip for me, DH, DD10 and DS8 (he was almost 2 the first time) and first trip for DS4 and DD2.

Don't forget all you "non-sewers" out there. Lots of outfits can be "Disneyfied" without any sewing at all! Beyond the Heat n Bond and the Glue, I had some success with Liquid Stitch as well.
Thanks Teresa for the help with the smocket! I did one yesterday that fits my four year old son very well (because his two year old sister was sleeping!) But it will be great for Laila for an actual paint/playdoh smock. I want to do a smaller one as a shirt for her.
I finished two halloween skirts, a stripwork dress and two dresses using the tops of overalls. Now just to get the pics uploaded!

They are sort of a no pattern sewing project. You use a store bought pair of jeans or overalls or even a dress and then you sew patches of fabric on to the denim. You don't worry about the edges because they are supposed to fray.
The trickiest part is you have to take apart the seam of the jeans before you sew the patches on. Then you have to sew it back up. They turn out really cute. It is something you could try with an older pair of jeans. Then if they don't turn out nice you won't have spent too much $$ on the project.

Note to the newbies, there are many here who just got started sewing. It just takes some practice.
The very first post in the Thread has links in it to a photo gallery and TheresaJoy's Bookmarks. THere is a link to the bookmarks in the bottom of TheresaJoy's posts too. There is lots of helpful information there!
I think there should be links directions to the smocking plates, the decoupage jeans, some tutorials on how to make easy peasant tops etc.
Welcome and if you have any questions just ask! I am not a professional but I have some experience. It is fun to say I made it myself!

For the decoupage jeans I would suggest starting with a jean skirt. That way you wouldn't have to rip open a seam on a pair of jeans. I'm not sure there are any directions anywhere. There are a few ladies who are very good at this - hopefully they will be along soon to give you some pointers. (Lisazoe is a good one if you want to pm her!)
You could probably use glue for the decoupage jeans, but I'm not sure how they would hold up in the wash.

So am I correct that with the shirt all you did was cut out the material and ribbon and glue it to the shirt??? I wanted to applique a black mickey with a bow pinned on (minnie:cutie: ) to go with the skirt I am doing today, but I really don't want to mess it up, maybe I could just do that???
I did a shirt earlier today with using the Heat N Bond to put down the ribbon and E6000 glue to put on the scrapebook patch of minnie, it came out sooo cute, I loved it. Now I am just hoping it stays together for the day she is giong to wear it. :lmao: :lmao:

 Susan
That is beautiful!

Hi!! Im new to the boards. My family is going to Disney World for the first time in January. Can any of you tell me how to find some of these outfits to buy for a size 12-18 months?? Eveything I see on ebay is larger or they have a picture for a 3 year old. Its hard to tell what it would look like on a smaller size. I dont know how to sew. Thanks for any help.

yep it's a scrapbook sticker. First I tried to use the Heat N Bond Lite on it but because of the sticker stuff on it it didn't work. So I just used the E6000 glue on and it seems to have stuck.
I would soooooo love an outfit like that, but that little minnie sticker would get lost on what I read you guys call "pooh" size body. :lmao: But it is for my DD8. She liked it when it was all laid out, let's see when she gets home from school to try it on.
And how did you get my pic to be so small?? I really have no idea how to make it smaller so I can post another pic, I hate to take up so much room.
Well back to my skirt........I have to gather up the last layer and get it sewed on the rest of the skirt. I will be back later with an update.

There are lots of sources for fabric... Hobby Lobby, Hancocks, Joann, Walmart, Quilt shops... to name a few. I would start with $1/yd fabric from Walmart just until you get the hang of what you're doing. The first pillowcase dresses I made by hand, no machine! Oh I had one, but it had so much dust on it that I had to have it cleaned and oiled before I could even use it. Then I had to have someone come and teach me how!
For my Mickeys, I just use bowls, cups, spools, whatever I have on had that is the size I need. I've made several templates so I have lots of different sizes now.
Can't help with the machine part, mine is very old and I'm still waiting for it to break down so I can buy a new one!

And the winner is....The Texas Sun!!!
I thought E6000 was supposed to hold great! Well, it worked for a little while. I had made one of the diaper/wipe holders and got lazy using E6000 for the velcro instead of sewing. I left the holder in the car overnight and got it this afternoon. The velcro slid right off...yes, slid off!!! Oh well!
Also wanted to say Thank you to Susan for sharing her story with us! You are truly blessed and so are we to know you!
DH is going to play poker with my brothers tonight so that leaves me free to sew after I get dd to bed!!! Hopefully, I'll get far enough to be able to post some pics soon!!

How old is your oldest? He looks like he's in at least 10th grade to me. You poor mommy!
I would LOVE some taffy!! Are you serious!?!! Yes, my Grandma was pretty horrible to my mother (but not her 4 siblings). Now my grandma lives with my mom so my mom can take care of her. How twisted is that?
Oldest is 15 but in 9th grade (we held him back due to July b day) Those "older women" better stay away from my babY!!!
Yes i am serious about the taffy! I just need to go get it!
Michele,
Here are my overalls, (I know not Disney but oh well) I finally found my card reader:

I love these overall. My DD just got her October calendar and they are going to the Pumpkin Patch on the 11th, so I may finally try to applique!!
I did a shirt earlier today with using the Heat N Bond to put down the ribbon and E6000 glue to put on the scrapebook patch of minnie, it came out sooo cute, I loved it. Now I am just hoping it stays together for the day she is giong to wear it. :lmao: :lmao:
I have used the E6000 on a patch, and washed and dried it, and it's still going strong.
As far as the Heat n Bond rather than glue, how well does the Heat n Bond hold up in the wash if we don't sew it down?

For those of you interested in AG dolls there is free shipping code good until Oct. 22 I think. It will save us $20 on my daughter's Bitty Twins and stroller.:cheer2: The code is AF72167. I understand that discounts are rare. Do they ever have Black Friday deals?
Also I was wondering if the My Disney Girl clothes would fit AG doll. I just love the little Minnie outfit, and thought that would be too cute to put on an AG doll, give as gift to suprise some unsuspecting kiddos a trip to Disney!
I am like six pages back but . . . Yes, they do and Kit is Minnie Mouse right now. The Belle dress is great.

:cool1:  My skirt is all sewn together:cool1:
I have to put in the elastic waist, but it actually looks like a skirt and like the picture on the front of pattern. I am in shock.:scared1: :scared1:
Of course it is going to take me 12 yrs to cut off all the little threads that are hanging around, but who cares I did it!!
There are a few things I didn't do that I probably should have, I didn't iron my seams down:rolleyes: , I cheated with the hem and only folded it up once and sewed it , but I am beyond thrilled that it looks like a skirt. I shouldn't say this cause it is not complete because of the waistband, but I didn't even need a seam ripper. :cool1:
This thread rocks!! :cheer2: You guys rock!! :grouphug: I would never ever have attempted this, but sitting up nite after nite reading thru this thread I knew I could I just had to try. So thanks guys!! Okay.....I better get back to cutting off all the extra thread I have on it, we leave on October 5th. :lmao:

I just wanted to add that if you're going to post a picture of something for the first time, we want to see a nice big picture of it! Don't worry about taking up room on the board! I usually just resize things when I multi-quote, so it's not as obnoxiously long as my multi-quotes usually are.

Now I have to decide if I should just glue on the minnie head on a white tshirt or try to applique?? I don't think I will push my luck and maybe just glue it down and pin on a cute little bow?? I just bought a for dummies pattern, and with the stuff I learned on here and deep breathing I did it. My mom has always sewed, I have a basic (very basic) understanding of it all, so alot is over my head. But there was a TON of great info on here and I just took it step by step and took breaks (so I could of course keep up with this thread LOL) and it worked out.
Now wether it will fit my daughter or not that is another story. :lmao:

It looks great! And it's bound to fit. This style of skirt is pretty flexible, especially with an elastic waist! I've had to take my elastic out, resize it and try it on again before. Just don't close your casing until she has tried it on and you know the elastic is a good fit. For my Mickey head applique shape I have a Mickey head paper punch in my scrapbooking stuff. It is about 1 1/2" or so big, so I punched out a black Mickey head then enlarged it (a lot) on my printer/scanner and printed it out.

107 More Days Till Disney!!!
Hey, our trips overlap 4 days! Now you need to make something so I can spot you in a crowd :lmao: I bought my sewing machine several years ago. It was just an inexpensive Singer from Wal-mart and it works great. I definitely try to find fabric at Wallys first because it is usually cheaper, but you can find some good sales and coupons. Sometimes I will stare at a shelf forever and see one or two Disney prints, then walk back ten minutes later and see a couple more I missed. Okay, not sometimes, pretty much every time. I found some light blue fabric with teeny white polka dots for $1 at Wally's the other day. It definitely says Cinderella to me.

Any other knitters out there? I taught myself to knit last Oct. and I started a local knitting group in Jan. I love it! Anyone here on Ravelry? It is a new knitting community site and very very cool!

Yep, this is just glued on. I haven't washed this set yet, but I did wash another top with ribbon glued on and that one held up ok in the wash. The fabric is at Joann's. It is expensive I think $9 a yard. For this outfit you wouldn't need much - not even half a yard.

I think these photos turned out better than the ones of my DD. I should have taken her picture in the kitchen. I'll post a better picture of both kids in their overalls outside.

:goodvibes Well here is my skirt, I am not sure when I will be able to do the elastic, my daughter has a soccer game tonite and I have to work 10-7 tomorrow, maybe sunday I can finish it and get a pic of my daughter in it. I just hope it fits her now that it worked out for me.
Now I have to decide if I should just glue on the minnie head on a white tshirt or try to applique?? I don't think I will push my luck and maybe just glue it down and pin on a cute little bow?? Good thing I picked up three tshirts in case I make a mistake. If I can get hers down, I would love to make one for my mom who is going with us, and maybe one for me??
This is adorable!! I'm not a professional seamstress but I can sew and I am scared to attempt one of these! GREAT JOB!

Sorry the pics are so big, I will have to work on that, but here is the outfit I made no sew this morning. The capris I got at Target (my favorite) for $8.99 and they already said cutie and had the heart on them. Also sorry the second pic is so blurry, my red and white ribbon where the white dots are turned kinda light pink, I think because it is on a red shirt?? :confused3
:lmao: :lmao: Otherwise I really like it, like I said before, let's just hope everything stays on. :lmao: :lmao:
Great job on the shirt!! It's super cute!

It looks adorable! If you have three shirts why not try to applique? For me it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. As long as you can get your machine to do what you want it to do which is a satin stitch (zig zag stitches close together) Some of the ladies have used Ultra Bond to iron on the Mickey head to the shirt and then used fabric paint around the edges.
Michele, You can do it! Just go slow and know that you will make some mistakes but, it will turn out ok. Everytime you make something you will get better and better and it will get easier. (trust me I am in the middle of that process lol)

Very cute! I will have to try the Sulky Thread. It looks really professional.

Where do you guys get the "For Dummies" patterns?
I bought mine at Walmart, I'm sure they have them at Joanne's and other fabric stores.
I did put the elastic in and then measured it on her when she got home. The length hit her right where I wanted it to. She was so excited to see it when she got home. I have a Mickey head cut out in the size I want, now I just have to do it.

Back pocket
http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb256/disboutique/mickey%20minnie%20and%20dots/mickey%20swirl/IMG_1207.jpg
Yep, this is just glued on. I haven't washed this set yet, but I did wash another top with ribbon glued on and that one held up ok in the wash. The fabric is at Joann's. It is expensive I think $9 a yard. For this outfit you wouldn't need much - not even half a yard.
It looks so nice, I LOVE IT! I am going to try one this weekend, I just hope I can keep a steady hand to cut it out evenly.

That is beautiful!
When did this all happen? Did you just recently get your dd back in your life?
yes, we did. I truly have faith that DD will be ok. DH takes one day at a time.
Unfotunately DD and her DH and DS live in North Phila in a terrible place. Your worst imagination can't even touch how horrible the place is. BUT, DD is happy, is clean, and she is such a loving mother. No sooner did we get DD home and clean that she left to go to North Phila to stay with the man who took her off the streets and convinced her to come home. He would not have been our choice for DD, but we have come to accept this. I believe Psalm 139 All your days were written in my book before you were one day old.
DD calls me several times a day and she is truly happy. DH and I have provided everything the baby could need, except a home. DD's DH is a convicted felon and he works for the city of phila..and he would never be able to get a job anywhere else for quite a long time, if ever...so it is DD's live and I am here to support her and love her...I truly am at peace with all of it...DD's husband is black and of course our grandbaby is mixed race...he is adorable and we just love him...
One of the consequences of having a child who is an addict is how it affects the rest of the family. My oldest DD and SIL were unable to conceive and eventually adopted a baby from a Russian orphanage. And then her baby sister is able to conceive...it was a tense situation until the adoption came through...and our middle DD resents the pain that her sister put us through..she was with us through all of this and she has a lot of anger towards her sister. All I can do is pray about it...and I try very hard to help the DD's understand that the babies are not to blame for any of this, and they need to know one another...and they do...so, that is my story...and I suppose I just had to tell it because I know now that none of us is safe from the horror of addiction and that I nearly lost my DD forever. There are so many twists and turns to this story and God truly intervened when He knew I couldn't take another day...including when we finally brought DD home, with only one outfit and no shoes...at 95 pounds and suffering from the effects of the drugs...no one would fund her rehab because of the bench warrants from Phila for prostitution...but I prayed and God opened a door...a friend called a friend and his county paid for her rehab because she was homeless...praise God. The entire story is so long that I should probably write a book ..it would probably help nonbelievers to believe...
Thanks to all of you for your kind words. My extended family is really embarrassed and ashamed of all of this, but I truly owe all the glory to God and the power of prayer and a mother who refused to give up...
Susan

Oh how nice!!! My youngest would die, if you told him he was cute, girls and cuteness are still "Yucko". Now oldest....
Well, when he starts noticing girls, you just keep my Arminda in mind. ;)
Yes, my Grandma was pretty horrible to my mother (but not her 4 siblings). Now my grandma lives with my mom so my mom can take care of her. How twisted is that?
That's putting it mildly I think. I once asked my Mom how she could be such a wonderful Mom with the role model she had. She told me, "I just always asked myself what my Mom would do, and I did the opposite." Well, let's just say, my Mom is a FANTASTIC Mom, and it that's the opposite of what her Mom was, well, it must have been horrible.
Sorry to get so sappy :sad1: I just sent the letter and pictures today. I logged on here and saw this post so I thought I would respond.
Wow, I always think about the story you told of your daughter's first trip to Disney. It always brings tears to my eyes!
OK, so if one more non- sewer says they have a really great sewing machine lying around when I have to go to my MIL's to sew I'm gonna join Heather's puking!!!

I am SO with you Tiffani! (That's T-beri Heather ;) )
We are going Jan. 14-21. Im considering buying a sewing machine. But I wouldnt know where to start. Ive never touched one. On another note I went to Hobby Lobby today. I bought a clearanced 3/4 of a yard princess fabric I paid a dollar for it. I dont know what to do?? But I know I LOVE ALL the outfits you all have I have been through all the pages.
!!!
Melanie, what princess fabric did you get?
Thanks Teresa for the help with the smocket! I did one yesterday that fits my four year old son very well (because his two year old sister was sleeping!) But it will be great for Laila for an actual paint/playdoh smock. I want to do a smaller one as a shirt for her.
Yeah!! I'm glad you could get it to work! I can't wait to see some pictures.
Hi!! Thanks your daughter and her outfits are gorgeous. I looked her up on ebay and she only has 2 outfits listed neither Disney. And they are $230 each. Are all of her outfits so expensive??
Thanks,

Our sons are the same age, I didn't realize that. Corey is 15 too. Your younger son looks about Arminda's age, is he about 9?
Ahem, my Mom had to eat her pet rabbit too. ;) And, my Dad's Dad (just can't bring myself to call HIM grandpa)cooked his pet goat and fed it to him. It is one of the sadest stories my Dad tells. I'll spare you the details though. Our parents had some awful horrible childhoods. It's truly amazing they turned into such great parents.

I just can't look at pics of her without tearing up! She's adorable and your story makes her even more so! So, which daughter is her mother?
Her mother is our middle daughter who lives nearby and was with us through all the heartache...I can remember her telling us years ago that her sister was using drugs...and we just couldn't or wouldn't believe it...our youngest DD was so sweet and such a cutie, a cheerleader and so loving...but that loving child turned into a monster after using drugs...and now back to the same person she once was...
What is funny is that Makayla's mother was such a shy child..and Makayla is definitely NOT...she is just too funny and gets so excited about everything...and belts out a song when she hears music...
Well, we just put her in the car for the airport...she came running over to our room and said, "I am going to Disney World to see Beauty and the Beast!"...humm hope she falls asleep on the plane for them!
How I adore that little girl..

Just wanted to say that all of the customs I have seen on this message board during my trip are just fabulous! What imaginative people you are!
Yesterday we ate at Storybook for lunch and Cinderella, Belle, Ariel, Aurora and Jasmine were there...Jasmine told us to ask the person in the yellow and white shirt where we could find the other princesses...Snow White and Dopey were "hanging around Germany"...of course my DH who isn't too quick on the uptake says...is she in the Biergarten? ...that brought a big grin to the CM's face...well, no not in the Beer Garden!...and Mulan was in China... I forget who else we missed...but Makayla was happy to see Dopey and Snow White...at 2 almost 3, when it was her turn...she just ran to whomever and gave them a huge hug...she is so tiny for her age...so she didn't mow anyone down!
Well, one more day for DH and I and then home....
Saw a few cute customs in the parks but not many.... Susan

Susan
I think your family is an AWESOME testimony to the Power of God. I think a book would be a wonderful thing for so many people.
I have always believed that God will never give us anything that we can not handle. I sometimes have a hard time believing it myself, but He is the One who gives us our strength when we can't do it anymore.
Your story has touched me deeply. Thanks againfor sharing:)

Those are GLUED ON? Wow! That's cool! I never realized you could buy appliques like that. Do you think that the intention was that they be wonder-undered on? or hand stitched down? or what?

Not fabric, but i was looking thru the dis photobucket album, which is very cool.. and noticed the necklaces with the bottlecaps..
Question is, how do you get the hole for the jumpring thru the bottlecap? What tool did you use to punch the hole? I have a Crop-a-Dile.. wonder if that works..
I believe most people use a Dremel type tool with the very smallest bit to do that.

Here is the tutu that I made for my DD. It's from the tulle that I bought at Hobby Lobby, it cost me about $10 to make.
You can really see the knotting in this pic but it's kind of fuzzy.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c42/tadamom/tutu.jpg
Better pic but you can't see the waistband.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c42/tadamom/tutu2.jpg
The tutu is a 2-tone lavender and she was absolutely tickled with it. One thing I learned is that tutu's and carseats don't jive well together. We have a Britax and the strips of tulle got caught in the velcro pieces. It was a small disaster b/c I didn't know it and when I got her out it pulled to one side and stretched the elastic.
One question for all those that have made these. The elastic seems to keep getting stretched out, does yours? I'm going to loosen the knots and move the pieces around a little bit to keep it looking good.

That is so cute and look at her face. I think that is the best. I was worried about my little creation, even though she liked it when I showed her the pattern, wasn't convinced she would like it when it was all done. But she LOVED it!

Very cute! And I love the dog in the photo! It makes me want a dog. My DD loves dogs so much but ours died a year ago.
 We lost our 16 year old schnauzer/cocker mix (I liked to call her a schnocker) in January and I still miss her terribly. You do need to get another dog! They can't take your old dog's place, but everyone needs a dog (except my sister ;) ).

Cute and cute!!
It is truly amazing how wonderful our parents turned out, with the childhoods they had. My dad was put into an orphanage for military families when he was a little boy, where they treated him cruelly. His parents eventually took him back in, but he didn't have it much better at home. I think Mom and Dad both did the exact opposite of what their parents would have done. I'm so proud of them both. If I can be 1/2 the mom that our mom is, I'll be satisfied. :sad1: Yes, I'm crying.
-
On a lighter note, I actually finished something today! I made Tessa a cute shirt. I'm going to wait until she's home to post a picture and I'd also like to decoupage some jeans to go with it. Is there a tutorial with pictures and such somewhere? I can't find any pictures in the bookmarks.

I just used a regular drill with a small drill bit. Just make sure to have the bottlecap secured someway before drilling. I put the bottlecap between my sewing machine and the carrying handle. Probably not the smartest idea but it worked.

I don't have close up pics, but there are pin tucks on the bodice, sleeves near the wrist and along the bottom of the dress. I have never done pin tucks before, and it really wasn't that hard.

CastleCreations
09-29-2007, 06:12 PM
there is a person, or persons who read what we write, and when we write something that catches their attention, they put it under our username in different colors. If you ask for a tag, I think it upsets them, because they will definately not give you one then...LOL. So play nice, and be witty, or silly, and one day they will get you when you least expect it...LOL

Becky Thatcher was her idea, so of course to keep with a theme for MNSSHP the whole lot of us (6 adults) are going as various characters from the book as well. Well, my dad is going as Mark Twain.
Thanks for the compliment!

Hi, Melanie! Welcome! The sources mentioned earlier for the fabrics is a good start. Walmart has a wonderful little machine from Brother which is like $186.00, it is the CS600i. It has some very nice features such as the one step buttonhole, Needle Stop in the Down Position (Helpful with doing appliques, turning corners etc.) I have one a bought a few years ago and I love it...I am even thinking of getting another one as my back-up should the original need to go in for service. there is a person, or persons who read what we write, and when we write something that catches their attention, they put it under our username in different colors. If you ask for a tag, I think it upsets them, because they will definately not give you one then...LOL. So play nice, and be witty, or silly, and one day they will get you when you least expect it...LOL
Well, in that case... I've never been tagged, don't wanna be tagged, why should I be tagged? :rotfl:

I finally finished DD's Halloween costume, she will be wearing it to MNSSHP.
She didn't want to take it off today, she absolutely loves it.
I don't have close up pics, but there are pin tucks on the bodice, sleeves near the wrist and along the bottom of the dress. I have never done pin tucks before, and it really wasn't that hard.
I did button closures even though the pattern called for a zipper. Didn't feel like putting a zipper in.

Great job on the costume!! I love the bloomers (I know that's not what they are called but my mind just went totally blank)!

These are so cute! Is that your yard in the background? It looks like a park. Very pretty.
wish it was, my house is to the right in the pic. That is the walk path next to my house. luckily we are the farthest in the sub division and no one comes around here. just the coyotes at night!
For those of you doing this fringe on the sleeves are you crocheting it or what? I *LOVE* the look of it, and tried to crochet it. BUT, it looked nothing like that :confused3
THANKS!
It is the fun fur at the fabric store!
Love both outfits! I am hoping to do some shirts with the fur on the sleeves for Christmas - too cute!!
I made these so they were removeable. it is easier to but on any outfit I wanted!
thanks everyone for the great comments!

Hi! I am new here, but I have been reading this thread for about a week now. I LOVE all of the outfits on here. I just started sewing maybe three weeks ago. We are going to disney the week after Thanksgiving and I am trying to make some outfits for my dds age 4 and 10mo. Does anyone know of any cute skirt patterns? I did attempt a twirl skirt that I did with Ariel materiel. I made one for each of my dds. They turned out pretty good for a first attempt. But know I am looking for something different. If anyone has any ideas or patterns that I could use please let me know. Thanks!

Here is a Christmas outfit that I made. Sorry for the inside photos, but it's been raining outside. The other picture is the Raggedy Ann, that I made a while back.

I don't post much anymore, but that is my daughter. That outfit was made by Bowznstuff_Boutique off Ebay. She's made a lot of things for me.
I saw her in that outfit at chef mickeys on our last day there. She looked so adorable. I felt like a dork going up and saying hi but my mom made me. Throught our trip i would point out the customs to my mom and dh. Dh kept yelling "Disboard Rule". It was funny. By the end my 2 year old would randomly yell it. :rotfl2:

Hi Guys
Sorry it has been so long since I have been back. We have gone through a TON of medical tests to try to discover the reason for Emma's hypotonia. EEG, EMG, sedated MRI, Lots of blood tests and an organic urine acid test. We are headed for a muscle biopsy next and that is probably it... So I haven't had a lot of time to read here let alone sew, but I am caught up now! Your creations are great! It has motivated me to get cracking again!
I went to JoAnn's yesterday and spent WAY to much money but oh well! Keep the creations coming and hopefully I will have something to share soon!:goodvibes

I started on some decoupage jeans yesterday. I think they're turning out really cute, if I do say so myself, and I do! I finished Tessa's shirt, but when I tried it on her, I thought the sleeves looked too clown-like :clown:(and I don't want her to scare my sister). So, I'm going to have to do something about that. I'm just all proud of myself that I ventured forth with the decoupage without a picture tutorial of some kind!

Oh yes it was definatey a close copy to Voldemorts version. (Although one sold on there for 660, and the other for 500 I think) I bought the pettiskirt last year to go under DD's Christmas dress. I think it is more like a slip than a pettiskirt!! Won it on :wizard:

Navy has won the trophy the last 4 years in a row. They also beat Army last 4 years. I actually felt sorry for those seniors of Army, they didn't get to beat navy once. I think you could squeeze Go Air Force on a pair of jeans! these applique letters are huge. Just do them smaller.

I walked into Hancock Fabrics yesterday and there was a sign on the door for patterns $1.99, but I don't remember which ones. :confused3 I am sorry, I need to pay better attention when I am out an about, but I was on a mission to find fray check on my lunch break. :rotfl:
Cute outfits, but isn't it the other way around...........Go ARMY, Beat Navy??
Here are pics of DD in her outfit for MK and MGM, we are doing both in one day and I didn't feel like hauling an extra outfit to the parks.
I hope to never do a patchwork twirl again! This was my first and I found it quite painful.

Any other knitters out there? I taught myself to knit last Oct. and I started a local knitting group in Jan. I love it! Anyone here on Ravelry? It is a new knitting community site and very very cool!

So sweet, Snow White is beautiful and Makayla just went running to her and Dopey..what a great vacation...and what wonderful memories...unfortunately I never finished her Snow White or Belle dresses, so she wore this one. Next year...
Now to start on Nicholas's outfits...a 3 year old boy...hummm...Handy Manny here I come...

I've loved seeing your photos each day. Your GD is beautiful and obviously having a ball.
Ok. You HAVE to go to http://www.fabricfairy.com! They have some of the cutest fabric I've ever seen & Disney prints I've never seen anywhere.
I'm not seeing any fabric on this site. How am I missing it??
Did you mean: http://thefabricfairy.com/ ? (I did a search and this site came up)
Thanks for sharing the link. I just wish they wouldn't tease me with cute prints that aren't in stock! ;) Not that I need more fabric...
Hi!!
Does anyone have any creative ideas for something to make that would be good for Hanna Montana concert? I can copy some ideas but don't have an ounce of creativity!
Thanks for any help!
I saw a really cute top and shrug set on voldemort that looks a lot like one HM wears on the show. Search Custom Boutique Hannah Montana Costume Tee Shrug. I think the price is reasonable especially since I'm sure the fabric for the shrug is a PITB to sew.

Here's a recent creation I made for Zoe. She's playing soccer for the first time this year and once the girls picked Ladybugs as the team name, I couldn't resist making a pair of shorts to go with that name. Of course I had to add a ladybug and her number, too. It's hard to tell in this photo but she's wearing the first bows (korker) I've ever made. I didn't want really big ones but I think I need to add a few more korks (?) to them.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c368/zoe_diva/soccer3.jpg
BTW - Those aren't the shoes she wears to play. LOL My camera batteries were dead at the game yesterday, the first time she wore the shorts, and she'd changed shoes at home before I could get new batteries in the camera. Since she was reluctant to model, I didn't push it by asking her to change back into her cleats. :)

I saw the difference between your highest and the winning bid on that set. I hate when that happens! It's bad enough to be outbid but so much worse when the bids are so close.

My DD is almost 6 and just this summer announced she wants to wear "normal" clothes. :sad2: She still loves twirl skirts so I'm doing simpler skirts for her to wear with leggings and tees. I'm also going to try making some Empire waisted tops that hit mid-thigh to pair with leggings. I think that will be really cute on her plus a bit more boutique than basic jeans and tees.
I now have that outfit on my watch list!!! Girl you are so good with colors!!
Good luck! I think many buyers have already finished with Halloween shopping so hopefully you'll get a great deal.
I love color and sewing for Zoe has definitely caused me to expand my color palette. When I sewed for myself, I stuck to neutrals or dark colors but now love to use all kinds of colors I'd avoided in the past, like yellow, orange and lime green.

She has a cute tshirt that is getting too small that says "Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend" and a picture of a Softball Diamond. I don't want to applique so many letters onto anything!

Forgot to say she is Becky Thatcher, which is why she is holding the book Tom Sawyer in the first pic.
I love it! She looks so sweet!
Thank you for the compliments. We just got that dog after we lost our kitty. She had Kidney failure. I miss her a lot, she would sit next to you on the couch and pat you with her paw when she wanted to be petted.
I had always wanted a Dachshund. She has quite a personality!
It's true you can't replace them but it is nice to have a little puppy to cuddle when you are feeling blue.
Here is a better photo of her, her name is Sophie.

Thanks!
I see Heather allready answered you about the bookmarks. There are tons of patterns there, and I'm always finding more. You need to have 10 posts to post pictures, so get busy commenting!
We just got back a few hours ago and was reading through some posts! I know I have a zillion other things I should be doing!
Here is Dallas with the sewing machine! Probably the only boy we'll see with it. He was more then happy to pose with it, loves it when I sew!
http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s20/jessica52877/th_104_2277.jpg
This is the only picture I put in photobucket right now and he hardly wore his customs. I never even put Peter Pan on him. I am so weird and never like mine unless they are with the jeans! And just TOO HOT for jeans! We did the NBC for the party only and he was okay with the jeans!
Aww, he looks adorable! Or, would he rather be called handsome!? I should find my picture of Corey at the machine. He keeps rearranging all my pictures on the computer though, so I'll have to hunt it down!
:rotfl2:
Here is a few pics from our trip earlier this month. We had a great time and got many compliments on our shirts and dd dress.
Thanks again to Nana (Nanascustomcreations) for my dd dress!!!! :cheer2:

I hope they figure out what is happening with Emma soon. I've been thinking about you.
He looks so cute and happy! My 15 year old nephew has his own sewing machine. So, Dallas isn't the only boy interested in sewing!
Yeah, his wonderful Aunt helped buy it!
-
How was your reunion, Teresa (her 20 year reunion was last night)? Were you the most gorgeous and glamorous one there in your fancy red dress? I'm sure you were! :cutie:
Well, a Tessa clown probably wouldn't scare me too bad!!
My reunion was fun!!! We went to the picnic too. I have to say that the girls in my class look REALLY good! Darn it! Not many of the kids I hung out with were there though. :sad2:

Thanks. This is my first sports related creation. I made simple baseball pants years ago for my nephews when they were in little league. Those were just plain white but looked like what the big boys wore so they were happy. I've never been into sports but I'm trying to encourage my DD to try different activities in hopes she won't become a couch potato like me. LOL I had a few parents of her team mates ask if I could make some shorts for their daughters. We joked that even if our girls aren't getting the most goals they'd definitely be the best dressed on the field. :lmao:
Do you think you could cut the design off the old tee and applique that only one that fits? It would be a quick way to get more life out of the old shirt.

I was off the boards for about 2 months since our return from our 1st trip and there are more than 100 more pages. We are going again next year! I am anxious to check out the pages I missed. I am looking right now for a twirl / tulle gathered skirt to incorporate into a halloween costume, perhaps pirate related to use at WDW too. This year I will have more time to plan the trip and clothing.

UGH!!! This is what happens when you don't make a list!!! While picking up the last 2 fabrics for my patchwork twirl I found a great polkadot to make a ruffle...Of course looking at the measurements, that's one hell of a ruffle, but I don't even need it. I'm so used to figuring on having a ruffle at the bottom that the one time I don't need one I got fabric for it anyway!!! Now looking at the skirt, I don't even think it'd look good-Great!!!No ruffle, I guess I'll just incorporate the polkadots into my patchwork pattern and call it good. What a dork!!!

No wait, I can't do that or I'll be left w/ a yard and a half of orange fabric with red polkadots... what in the he** would I use that for?? Crap! I gotta go measure the kid again!.
