OK, we had the coolest day today. The Doodlebops are going to be at Altell Arena tomorrow, but we aren't getting to go. I haven't even told dd4 about it. Well, I heard the end of a commercial a couple of days ago about them signing autographs at a Wal-Mart somewhere in town. So I called today to find out when & where & it all worked out so we got to go meet them. DD4 just had this absolutely amazed look on her face when I told her what we were going to do & sdhe gave me the biggest hug ever! When we got there & she could finally see them in front of us, she just grinned & giggled like you wouldn't believe. She was so excited! They signed her cd liner notes & talked to her & gave her high 5's. She wore her Minnie dot top & since it's finally decided to be fall around here & had her wear her black long sleeved top under it. DeeDee told her she looked just like Minnie Mouse. I think that made dd's day as much as anything else. I've got a few pics, I just need to get them uploaded.

where or where did you find this fabric???? my ds would FLIP OUT for this!!

At JoAnn's December 2006. :teeth: I was there today to get new Star Wars fabric, looked high & low....none this year. I'll have to take a look at Hancock next week, I guess. I'm not sure I'll be able to find the exact stuff this year, but he definitely want Star Wars pjs. (This pair won't be for the Christmas Eve pj exchange)

he suggested that emma be yoda and ride on his back!:rotfl: i told him no cause shes almost as big as he is and weighs almost as much too! :yoda: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl:

I bookmarked the jedi robe too!:) JoAnn's had .99 patterns, so I picked up McCalls 5840...but I think it'll be too big for DS(3) & it looks complicated. I never thought about using even a red riding hood cape, great idea! As long as it has a hood, that's all DS wants-so he can swoosh it back & fight with his light saber!:darth: :rotfl:

I know I already told about my labor, but after reading everyone's, I want to add.

DD#1 - My water broke AT WORK around 2:00 PM, which was actually fun. My girlfriends took me home to get my stuff and then to the hospital. I was given pitocin since the contractions hadn't started. My blood pressure was sky high so I had to lay down on my left side. I received Stadol (yuck!) and then finally an epidural around 6:00 AM. DD was born at 12:03 PM. 6 lbs. 18 in. The cord was wrapped around her neck twice and she was given oxygen. She cried a few seconds later. Her birthday is 02/20/2002. I always liked her date.

DD#2 - I was having a dream that my water broke late Sunday night and when I called my mom, she was disappointed that it was Sunday. She wanted me to go into labor over the weekend. I woke up from the dream when my water broke and it was late Sunday night! Weird! Went to the hospital and there were no beds. I waited until around 7:30 AM and then finally got a bed. I was given Stadol (yuck!) and asked for an epidural. By the time they got around to getting me one, I was already a 9 and it was too late. My first thought was, "Oh, my! This is gonna hurt!" At one point, the doctor told me that I should put as much energy into pushing as I did at screaming. :rotfl: They had to use a vaccuum to get her out. Now that HURT! Remember - no epidural. She was born at 9:43 AM. 5 lbs. 10 oz. 19 in.

Ds - I was having contractions and had a doctor's appt at 10:15 AM. I was seeing the midwife and was wondering if she would send me to the hospital. She sent me home and told me to take a warm bath. I debated about going to WalMart to get a few last minute things, but I was pretty uncomfortable so went home and took a bath. That didn't help the contractions. I called DH at work around 11:30 and told him to come home. We arrived at the hospital about 12:10 and the first thing I said was that I wanted an epidural. There was NO WAY I wanted to go thru another labor like DD#2. The nurses tried giving me Stadol. I said No, give me an epidural. Well, I didn't get anything. DS decided to come. I was at the hospital about 1/2 hour. DS was born at 12:46 PM. 7 lbs. 7 oz. and 20 in. Funnily, the midwife who sent me home 2 hours prior was the one who delivered him. I always wondered if she thought she should have sent me to the hospital. Good thing I didn't go to WalMart!

WOW!!!! Are you the one who put out the request for little pieces of Disney fabric a while back? (I can't "bemember"). Please do a tutorial so we can all CASE (or CAB in my case) you! I love LOVE LOVE it! Maybe I'll do a princess themed one since I have a Boatload of different princess fabrics.

That wasn't me. But it's a good idea!! Very easy to make. I took a sweatshirt, a size larger then you wear, cut it apart. You don't need squares, just different sizes and put them in any sort of angle you want. Zig Zag them down. When your done, do a freehand stitching all over it. It's a quilter foot. Put the sweatshirt back together. Cut down the front of the shirt, round off the corners. I made my own bias tape and edged it. I got it from a pattern at the quilt store, but I think the same woman has it on a Butterick pattern. 4056.

My L/D stories aren't quite as dramatic as all of yours but here you go:

I was on bed rest with 1st DD for toxemia. At 37 1/2 wk check up she was head down ready to go. At 38 1/2 weeks she had somehow flipped herself and was in a pike position breech. The dr tried to turn her but no luck. Had a c-section but since she was pike position she was not budging, so 2 drs had to get and push on my belly to get her out. I didn't feel a thing during delivery but for the next 24 hrs I was throwing up constantly. Then the Pharmacy couldn't find our insurance info at 10 pm at night and didn't want to give my husband my pain meds, he came home empty handed. You can bet I sent him right back to get some and not to come home if he didn't.

2nd DD - I went into labor driving home from dinner on our way to open Christmas presents with family in town before Christmas. My DH kept complaining he had to go to the bathroom. He didn't quite grasp that I was in labor. We opened a few presents and then went in at about 9:30 pm. They gave me pitocin and broke my water to speed things along. My poor dr was also pg and due in a month and she was on call. DD was born at 5:59 am at 9 lbs 1/2 oz. Wonder epidural I didn't feel a thing, pushed for about 10 minutes and had a very small episiotomy.

DS was by far the easiest. My water broke at 1:30 am. I went in and they just let everything progress itself. Started labor at 3:30 am got my wonderful epidural and delivered DS at 9:00 am. The only problem was that there was a shift change and no one was checking my progress so I had to tell them that he was ready to come. They couldn't get the dr on call to answer the page (he is no longer with the group and is now doing lipodisolve) so the midwife came. DS was 7 lbs 11 oz (3 wks early). I pushed for about 15 mins and had no episiotomy.

So for all those reading that may not have kids or only 1 childbirth is not always scary or painful.

I am officially turning into the daughter my Mother always wanted!:scared1:

Yes, I know how to crochet too! Geez, I am such a girl!

All this talk about fur cuffs got me thinking!

You all are a bunch of ENABLERS!!

Princess Leigh thinks she's a "model"! Good thing you can't see her legs in these photos!:rotfl:

If it makes you feel better my FIL just made his own tie for his halloween costume.. We are doing a 1920's theme and the guys are being gangsters and he said to my MIL what was he gonna do for a tie, she said she had some of her dress fabric left and they could match and low and behold he went and got an old tie (didn't even tear it down) and made his own tie. He is the most NON girly guy I've ever met, so there is still hope for you.;)

I'd like to jump in w/ Castlecreations and say farewell, we leave tomorrow. I am still having issues w/ the dress, the corset bodice was too small, the straps were too far apart and the gathering thread on my double ruffle keeps breaking.. so I have to go try to get this finished, w/ any luck I will post pics tomorrow or once we get out there.

Have a great week, I'll be back w/ pics and stories next weekend.

My MIL's all " I didn't go to sleep until 1 last night" Yeah, I haven't gone to sleep until 1 every flippin' night this week- I went to bed at 4:30 2 nights ago.. But I'm not B*&^%iING at everyone else am I??? All I did was ask DH if something he packed was necessary as it was a large item and got my head bit off!!! I am seriously considering calling the whole thing off!!!

My in-laws wanted to go on a house boat "Vacation" (I use that word loosely) And that is exactly why!! I really don't think it would be much fun to spend a week with all those people on a boat!! where would we go when when wanted to choke each other- in the lake!!!! So glad we got out of that one!!!

Now THAT is the way to have babies! My Mom had a really easy time with labor and delivery, so silly me always assumed that I would too!

For all y'all without avatars by your username- why don't you have an avatar by your username? If you're not sure what an avatar is, mine is Tessa with Cinderella there on the left.

I never took the tijme to figure it out. Now I have an avatar, but tomorrow will work on a personal one. Now to figure out the siggy thing. How does everyone get a ticker on there?

My labor stories are the ones first time moms should hear! All 3 were less than 3 hours. I was 4 cm 4 weeks before delivery with all three and delivered 12 days early with all of them. DD8 decided to come on her own. My water broke just after we got home from the pumpkin patch. We went to the hospital, but never had a contraction the entire night. Doc broke my water fully the next am and started pitocin. I was young and nieve and didn't want pain meds, especially an epidural. Never asked for anything and was "blowing" in the shower for what seemed like forever when the nurse finally sked if I wanted to be checked. Everyone was shocked I was ready to oush. One hour later I had an 8 pound baby girl.

DS6 was much easier. I was induced for being uncomfortable and 4 cm early again. Doc broke my water and contraction started immediately. 2 1/2 hours later and 2 big pushes I had an 8 pound baby boy. I asked for nubaine and was told I was at 8 cm. Nurse blew the vein and by the time she got the nubaine working I was already pushing.

DS15mos was different all together. I was induced again by breaking my water 12 days early. NO contractions this time for an hour. I was afraid of getting pitocin again. Finally they started pretty strong. I walked for as long as I could and then rocked. I kept complaining of an aching back, not realizing I was having back labor. Finally asked and received nubaine when I was at 8 and begain pushing 5 minutes later. This time pushing lasted 30 min because he was sunny side up and would not turn. No wander my back hurt so much. He was 9 pounds 12 days early.

Thank God my doc listened to me and allowed me to go early. I can relate to the fear of an 11 pound baby! My mother had an 11 and 12 pound baby as her last 2, but they were late.

If you all are having avatar problems you can ask me. If you have it to the right pixel dimensions 100x100 (at 72 dpi) you are probably over the kb limit which is 3.9 kb. If you are using Photoshop you can use the 'save for web' option and that will show you how big it will be and you can adjust before it actually saves.

The KB number will actually vary depending on how many colors/shades are in your image.

:rotfl: Your comment about dressing this way for church made me remember a woman from our church 30+ years ago. She was a beautician and kept her hair a light blond... and big! For some occasions, though, she'd use KoolAid (unsweetened) to tint her hair to match her outfit. I swear it looked like she had a big pile of cotton candy on her head some weeks. We were very impressed... back then. :rolleyes1

FYI - I have used KoolAid to add color to my hair for fun. I don't have bleached hair but it still shows up a little. However, it doesn't wash out immediately so I thought I'd better add this warning in case someone wants to try it out. popcorn::

Sorry to shout, but I have the sneaking suspiscion(sp?) that most don't read my long posts. Otherwise, how come no one commented on the story about Tessa outside, naked, pooping on the deck when she was 2. :rotfl2: Either that, or you're just considering calling social services...

Anyhoo, if anyone needs help with resizing their personal picture to make into an avatar, just PM me. You can upload your picture to photobucket and I'll e-mail you the downsized version.

I don't have an avatar and I enjoy reading your long posts. I sometimes only have a minute or two to play "catch up" on this thread, so it's hard to comment. When I get some time, I'll have to look into this avatar stuff.

I loved the Tessa story. When my DD5 was 2, she was ALWAYS naked. Luckily, my parents pool is in the back of their house. She NEVER liked to have on a wet bathing suit. As soon as it touched the water, off it came.

Hi All!
I am so far behind - I have been super busy lately with no time for computer! I am going to go back and check out all the cute outfits today - but I may not be able to post on them all since I have several days to look at. I wanted to post a pic of what I was working on. The kids have a day at school each year called Great American Day - where each class dresses up like a certain period of time. These pictures are of my "pioneers". I tell you - Emma's dress was brutal!!! The dress itself was 6 pieces sewn together with some funky seams - the arms were two pieces - and then 11 buttons and button holes!!!! I had to hand sew the arm lace since it didn't fit on the arm of my machine. I definately got comfortable with my seam ripper on this one. Emma LOVES it though - calls it her "Laura" dress. The bonnet is a little big since the dress I made in a size 4 and the bonnet is for sizes 4,5 & 6. Oh - and I forgot to get a picture of her showing off the oh so cute pantaloons I made too!!!

Ok DD# 1. I went full term got induced the day of my due date. Started at 11:00am July 10 and she was delivered after many complications and placenta seperation by emergency c-section. on July 11 2001 at 1:49 pm Megan was born.

Twins YIKES. contractions at 22 weeks. (scary) 2 times pre term labor one high blood pressure visit.
I carried them all the way to 39 weeks. I begged the Dr with the promise to have my hubby stop at the local store and get him a banana cream pie. (I was desperate to get those babies out.) So he scheduled me for a c-section for that night and sent me upstairs. Woo hoo. I wattled up to l and d and they hooked me up to all the monitors X 2 for twins. Hubby was still at work and I was by myself. Yea me. No one bothered to check to see if I was dilated at all past the 3 from the week before. Ok fast forward Everything went great in the O.R. we joked and talked it was great I even keep reminding him not to forget to tie my tubes. I came out ok no pain and finally got to my room in post. . They brought me my babies and I got to hold them my mom sis and grandma finally left. And the is where it went down hill from there. I starting bleeding uncontrollably bad. My hubby checked under my blankets that were now bloody on top grabbed the babies from me put them in the cradles and ran for a nurse. They came running in and looked and pushed my hubby out the door and shut it on him. There were buzzers and intercoms and pagers going off. I was rushed back to l And D and prepped for surgery I was hem raged and if they couldn't stop it I was going to have to have surgery.

Well they finally got it to stop. ( it was close) They said when it was done and over with that I was fully
dilated and no one knew I was that far. I had to stay there for observation over night before I could go back to my room to see my babies. Everything from then on went well I was informed at my released that I was glued shut and i should have a easy recovery. Which I did. And by the way twins A Emily was born at 22:22 weighing 6 LB 11 oz and twin B Samantha born at 22:23 weighting 7 LB 3 OZ. On May 26 2005. And yes my hubby did stop to buy the Dr his banana cream pie on the way to the hospital.

Sorry If i grossed anyone out but I wanted to share my stories to.

Hope everyone has a great Friday and weekend.

I have an idea for a double layer stripwork twirl skirt I need to get working on. But I was spoiled with the squares for the sock monkey being already cut, I'm dreading cutting the strips for this new one.

Your daughter is adorable!!!!! What a beauty!!!! It looks like it was a lot of fun!
Hey! You're awake! I didn't want to call and wake you up. But, I'm going to call you now and see if you're feeling better and if you want to get together and do something fun today. I really needed to post this on the boards, didn't I?

yeah, yeah, I'm awake, and feeling a bit better, and yes, i think this ALL needed to be posted on the boards! ;-) See you in a little bit heather! (Still waiting for Brian to leave!)
OK.... in honor of HEATHER SUE and TERESA too..... my NEW AVATAR should now be revealed.

Yeah..... that's me- just don't laugh too hard. I dress like this for church on Sunday- people are ALWAYS trying to copy my style.... but let's face it........... they can't! It takes a person with a certain penasch (sp?) to dress the way I do.... and the only person I know who even comes close is.... Miss Piggy. So, this avatar is also dedicated, of course, to UTAHMAMA... enjoy!

WOO HOOO!!!! YIPPEE YEAHA!!! I love it!!!!

However, it doesn't wash out immediately so I thought I'd better add this warning in case someone wants to try it out. popcorn::

I love it! My Mom use to tell us about a lady she knew who died her hair pink. An older lady, I mean. Thanks for the warning about the Kool Aid though!

Avatar...thought that was a place to buy meat...well, it's close to that...that's an abatar or something...

why don't they just call it a little picture under your name for folks like me who don't get the lingo?

You are silly Susan! You might not know the lingo, but you know how to do it!

Your daughter is adorable! I bet she was in AWE!

LOVE IT! Miss Piggy has always been my favorite! Still have my miss piggy doll from when I was 2!

Heather has a Miss Piggy puppet that is pretty cool. She got it when she was little. My parents always use to give us presents when we drove to Florida, I'm pretty sure that's when she got it. A loooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnng looooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago. ;)

OK, HeatherSue - just because you asked (and it was about time I did) I got myself an avatar AND a siggy! I'm a cool kid now!

Next up, my labor stories. I loved reading everyone's so I'll share mine, too.

With DS (4), my water broke on its own at 4:30 in the morning on March 2, 2003. I add the date in because I REALLY wanted his birthday to be 3/3/03. I had gone to bed at like 1:30 or so in the morning that night, got up at about 4:30 go pee for the millionth time that night. As I got up off the toilet, I just felt a HUGE gush. (hope this isn't TMI) And it just kept gushing, so I sat back down on the toilet. When I finally slowed to a trickle, I took a shower quick, then woke up DH who did not believe me at first. (Admittedly, I have this bad habit of playing jokes on him.) I finally convinced him that this was real, so we called the hospital and headed there. This was my first baby, so of course I had had a bag packed since like week 20, LOL.

Well, about halfway to the hospital, I realized that I didn't pack anything to do - like a book, cards, movies - you know, something to take my mind off of labor? Ha. Well, I wasn't really contracting yet, so I made DH go back and pick some movies to take with us. Yes, I am crazy.

We got to the hospital and were admitted. I still wasn't contracting regularly, so they had me walk. So I walked. And walked. And walked. Or maybe I should say I waddled. I was so huge. I'm only like 5'2'' on a good day, so I was ALL belly. I could knock things over with that thing.

After an hour or so of walking and no progress, I had to start on pitocin. Well, it sure worked alright. Started right off the bat with pretty painful contractions - all in my lower back. They just kept crankin that pitocin up and up. I just kept stalling out - stalled at 4, crank the pit, stall at 7, crank the pit. I think I got my epidural when I was about 5-6. I thought that would help, but not so much. It kind of took the edge off a little, but I was still hurting pretty badly. Finally I got to 9 1/2. And I was there for a couple hours. Nothing we tried would get me to 10, so at 4:55pm I had a c-section. I was terrified. I'm not sure why. I'm a NICU nurse and see deliveries and sections all the time. All the bad stuff that could (but rarely) happen just kept running through my head.

Everything was fine, though, and DS weighed in at 8 lbs 9.8 ounces and was 22 inches long.

My next child, DD (2) was a scheduled c-section. It was lovely. Well, the no laboring part was lovely. The four sticks to get my IV and the 2 sticks for my spinal was not lovely.

Also, while I was getting prepped for the section, a Med student was in with the anesthesiologist. I do believe they had already given me something in my IV, because I think I was a little loopy. So they go to put an oxygen mask on my face and I hear the anesthesiologist explain this to the student, then asks what room air oxygen is. Well, the student is hesitating, so I guess I thought I'd help him or something, so I start whispering "21 percent" a few times. Then the anesthesiologist thinks I'm talking to him, leans down and asks what I was saying, so I say louder "21 percent. room air." And he starts laughing. I then wanted to tell him not to let that med student touch me, but I refrained. I think he left after that anyway.

So, DD was born on June 3rd, 2005. She weighed in at 8 lbs, 9.8 ounces (yes, EXACTLY the same weight as DS - but she was 1 week early) but she was only 20 inches long, so she looked a lot chubbier than DS.

Now, to finish out this monster post, I'll share my latest creation. It's for DD's pirate skirt - someone posted a link to a design of a pirate mickey head with a tiara on it, and that inspired me right away. I had been struggling figuring out what kind of shirt to make. I was leaning toward peasant top thanks to all you ladies who voted for the peasant shirt, but I just loved that design, so I went with it. However, my take on her design was much cuter in my head than on DD's shirt. I hate when that happens. I still like it, but I wonder if I should just make a peasant shirt, too, and see what I like better.

OK, so here it is:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y237/lorib587/pirateshirt1.jpg
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y237/lorib587/pirateshirt2.jpg

I think the part I'm not crazy about is that I wish the tiara showed up a little better. Well, that and the eyepatch doesn't show up well, either.

Whew! Sorry for the ginormously long post!

Thanks! I forgot to mention how I did the tiara. After searching ALL OVER for a pre-made iron-on rhinestone tiara, I gave up. I found a couple, but they were really big. So, it's acutally a "franken-tiara." The majority of it is actually an iron-on design that I found at Wal-Mart. I believe it's intended to go on a pair of jeans on the back pocket maybe, but I turned it upside down and made it a tiara. I cut off a couple of the parts, then added some of my own bling to fill in a little and make it more tiara-like. I should have taken pics along the way, but of course I didn't think about it until just now as I'm trying to explain how I did it.

Hope that makes sense!

I finally finished Lauren's Christmas Mint dress. After I made the bodice I lost all motivation to sew, not sure why. I forced myself to get back in the sewing saddle and finish this dress. It is going to be long on her but I figure that is fine since it is COLD :cold: here at Christmas and the longer dress will keep her warmer. I am also making pants in the red fabric (straps) to match.
Lauren refuses to model anything, once she is dressed in the AM she will not change her clothes for anything! She could be soaking wet from spilled juice and covered in mud, she will not change without an argument.

That xmas dress is so very cute. I just love the candy on the bodice. Those little or big details is what makes outfits (sew) great. I hear you on the not feeling like sewing I am right along with you knowing I need to finish two pairs of tinkerbell shoes three tort bags and two sets of wings. Man that is alot. What was i thinking. :scared1:

Well I guess I won't be on here this weekend. So Everyone have a great weekend.

Can someone please tell me what sort of a pattern I would use to make a top like the boutique-y custom ones you see on Ebay that get worn with the ruffle hemmed jeans? If you look in the first post on this thread the is a photobucket link to all the outfits made. Maybe you could copy one of those that you like and repost it and then we might me able to tell you what pattern was uses or how it was made.
A lot of the patterns are from youcanmakethis . com. You might check that site and see if the style you like is there.

Lori- my first thought was that your Emma was Holly Hobbie

See? Love alternative-use costumes: 3 in 1> Pioneer girl, Laura Ingalls, and Holly Hobbie.

Your son is cute too! Kinda Davy Crockett-ish. Daniel Boone? Huck Finn?

Cindy B Good- I was wondering what is a pj exchange??-
We draw names to buy new pjs for Christmas Eve. We just don't do it for the kids, but include all the adults. Last year I got into the mood & sewed both Star Wars pjs for DS(3) & Handy Manny pjs for DS(6) My sister bought me these red silky pj bottoms & I had to change because I slid right off the couch! I made her a pair of ballerina monkey pjs with slippers.

I'll share my latest creation.

GloriB, you did it!!!!:woohoo:  :yay: :cheer2:
It looks fabulous!!!!! Love it!
I think you were very resourceful with the tiara! I mean we just talked about this creation yesterday, and now you've completed it! You're amazing!!
I'm casing this!!! Great job!

GRRRR, why is it I am the only one who can ever just pull up my big girl pants and deal w/ situations when they arise?
 I'm casing that quote! I hear ya! When we went to "the place with the mouse" everyone was on each other's last nerve (all the way there & all the way back) until we got into the park & then we were all lovey/sweet! Disney magic get's all those things resolved! Hang in there for the love of DIS! :hippie: :goodvibes

This is Rooney being silly with her. They were all just great with her. She got shy once it was our turn & didn't want to say much.

http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb55/hrhcalicokitty/Kids%20Clothes/2007_10250050.jpg

My kids like the Doodlebops too! Everytime they watch it & bop around dancing, I just :happytv: thinking all the while...what do those people look like under those character get ups? AND I hope that paint is non-toxic!!:rotfl:

:rotfl: Your comment about dressing this way for church made me remember a woman from our church 30+ years ago. She was a beautician and kept her hair a light blond... and big! For some occasions, though, she'd use KoolAid (unsweetened) to tint her hair to match her outfit. I swear it looked like she had a big pile of cotton candy on her head some weeks. We were very impressed... back then. :rolleyes1

FYI - I have used KoolAid to add color to my hair for fun. I don't have bleached hair but it still shows up a little. However, it doesn't wash out immediately so I thought I'd better add this warning in case someone wants to try it out. popcorn::

I am soooo going to church like this, the weekend after Thanksgiving! I mean nothing says "Happy Holidays" like cotton candy hair!! :lmao:

Can someone please tell me what sort of a pattern I would use to make a top like the boutique-y custom ones you see on Ebay that get worn with the ruffle hemmed jeans? I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to the auction I'm referring to but if anyone has any idea as to what I'm talking about can you point me in the right direction?

Do you mean something like this?
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i236/scrappindisney/IMG_2807.jpg

If so, there is a pattern on www.youcanmakethis.com I think it is called strip work jumper. You can either follow that pattern as is, or you can make the bodice longer if you want it to be onger (to put an applique on it or something). You can also adjust the skirt part to be a single pice of fabric rather than being in strips. There's lots of variations. It's pretty simple, and I think it's very cute.

I love: mousetripers MNSSHP outfit and GLORIB's pirate princess outfit (too cute!)
And, how cute is Parker in her Barbie costume, GREAT job!!!

Now, as you can see I was successful in the push for bringing the laptop on vacay. God bless WIFI! So, here I sit in the most beautiful villa (almost makes up for being "off" property) we are just a stones throw from Seaworld. It is currently 73 degrees w/ 96% humidity. Mac wants to go to the pool, I said just step outside:rotfl: Looks like rain for sure, luckily the chance of rain tomorrow(MNSSHP) is pretty low. Everyones tempers seem to have evened out and I'm letting DH sleep in to keep him in a good mood. My MIL is still a little frantic, but that's her normal state. I would like to say right now that while I am complaining about my inlaws it is not b/c they are my "inlaws" I consider them my parents too, and frankly I'd probably be complaining more if it was MY parents. But the thing w/ inlaws is that you can't ever say the things that you might say to your own, so I am biting my tongue when I would have told my parents they were annoying and needed to chill the BLANK out!!

I will join the Disboutique-ers annonymous... My name is Tifani and I too brought my sewing machine to WDW!

I just couldn't find time to tackle the ruffle from the underworld. With packing etc. it just had to wait. i decided since we had a down day today w/ several people joining us getting in on different flights I would use the time I had here instead of staying up all night and making myself crazy. I've tried 3 different rufflers. My moms hadn't been used since 1942, the one I bought at joanns had a bent blade and broke 2 of my needles before I realized what was going on and my MIL's didn't actually fit her machine.

While attempting to hand ruffle I ran into problems, I am ruffling a double layer ruffle and both ruffles are doubled...so whenever I ran into a seam the ruffle broke. Now of course I am limited to what sewing supplies I brought, but I am thinking of using dental floss and zig zagging over that to gather the "monster ruffle".

Well, I guess I'd better go and put this dress together while DH and the girl are still sleeping, DS is watching Goosebumps and the inlaws are at Publix.

The digicamera and loading dock are here too so I should be able to keep you all up to date w/ pictures, I know you can't wait to see the patchwork dress, I hope it's not too disappointing:rolleyes:

I finally finished Lauren's Christmas Mint dress. After I made the bodice I lost all motivation to sew, not sure why. I forced myself to get back in the sewing saddle and finish this dress. It is going to be long on her but I figure that is fine since it is COLD :cold: here at Christmas and the longer dress will keep her warmer. I am also making pants in the red fabric (straps) to match.
Lauren refuses to model anything, once she is dressed in the AM she will not change her clothes for anything! She could be soaking wet from spilled juice and covered in mud, she will not change without an argument.

That sounds scary! Thanks for sharing!

It was scary I told my hubby as they pushed me by him he better not leave the hospital till they know i am ok. Thanks.
yeah, he better not leave!!!! After Corey was born, I was wheeled to my room, alone. Brian came in, and after a minute my Dad came to the door and said, "The pizzas here." So, of course, Brian LEFT!!!! UH!?? WHAT???!!! So, there I was after 36 hours of labor and a c-section alone. I didn't even have my baby! So, I called my boss and told her I had had the baby. I couldn't eat pizza for about a year after that.

But, to be fair, the nurse had told everyone who was there (my entire family waiting out there for me for so long!) that I was tired and needed my rest. :sad2: (It's on the video, so I know it's true!)

OK, HeatherSue - just because you asked (and it was about time I did) I got myself an avatar AND a siggy! I'm a cool kid now!

Photobucket FINALLY decided it liked me enough to upload a pic. This is dd4's Christmas dress. Now I just have to finish dd1's which oddly seems to have the same amount of ruffle on the bottom. Still not sure how that happened. I just hope it fits ok (I sooo don't want to have to redo it later).

This is really pretty! What a gorgeous daughter you have too!

I had a Miss Piggy puppet too! I actually have a pic of me as a kid with it (I got it for Easter when I was around 5 or 6). I haven't been able to find my photo album for a while now. :confused3 Maybe I should spend more time cleaning and less time :surfweb:
okay, first things first.
I had a Miss Piggy Puppet too!!:thumbsup2

So cool that you both had Miss Piggy puppets too! Was she in a purple gown? I have a picture of Heather's around here somewhere, I need to find it.

LOL - you are the second person to say Hollie Hobbie! I loved her - my bed had a canopy when I was little and she was plastered all over it. Yup - Noah is Davy/Daniel.
Heather and I had a Holly Hobby (or Hobby Hobby as Heather use to say  ) canopy bed too!!!! Was it from Sears? Ours had a pink background. I'm sure we have a picture of that somewhere too.

The digicamera and loading dock are here too so I should be able to keep you all up to date w/ pictures, I know you can't wait to see the patchwork dress, I hope it's not too disappointing:rolleyes:

...t.

Yeah T! I was hoping you would be able to post while you were gone! I can't believe you brought the sewing machine! That's great! I can't wait to see your pictures!

WHAT!?!?!?!?!? You HAVEN'T seen NBC???? I'm not sure but I think that is a crime punishable by death in some countries.

I want to see...just haven't yet. It looks kinda scary and dark. Will my DD5 like it, or should I save it for next year?

We looooove this movie! My kids are DS6 and DD2 (she will be 3 in December). My daugther goes around saying "and since I am dead, I can take off my head" all the time. My son is Jack Skellington this year for Halloween and my daughter had chosen Sally for her costume a few months ago but changed her mind after she saw the movie Barbie the Island Princess.

I've discovered that the ruffler doesn't work very well with double ruffles or especially with doulbe with a lot of seams it seems to jam a lot. I just slid the fabric out a little from the plate when it got to the seam. Then to make the ruffle the same I went back a did a line of basting stitch so I could hand ruffle where the ruffler missed. Hope that makes sense.

Where is everyone? These are some travel pillow cases that I made. Super quick and easy. The girls Disney pillowcases will have rick rack along the seam between the red gingham and white. The white fabric is that minky stuff - SUPER SOFT, the others are made from fannel.

When my son was 18 months old he watched NBC EVERY DAY!!! Of course I suppose it would depend on the kid. You should watch it first I suppose... THERESA??!?!?!! I am disappointed in you.
I cannot imagine not seeing a Tim Burton film, let alone a Tim Burton/Disney film...BRILLIANT!

AlliKat, Oh, I so hope we run into each other. We will all be dressed up as gangsters and flappers....we'll have a 2 yo newspaper girl w/ us, so we should be easy to spot.

I was just at Hancock's and found 3 new mickey fabrics. Didn't have any way to take pics though. They also have Minnie dot on sale for 60% off. Juist thought I'd let you all know.

Yippee! I think I'll have to head over to Hancock Fabric then! I was looking for something to do today.

Teresajoy, thanks for thinking of me. I'm doing okay, after being on the antibiotic for a week the pain has mostly subsided, just a little sore every now and then but nothing like last weekend. I'm still nervous about Monday but I just keep telling myself this will be the worst of it and everything else will be downhill from here on out.

I have done a little measuring and figured out that I can set up the extra small desk I've got in our garage in our bedroom and make myself a permanent sewing area instead of taking over the dining room. I'm excited about getting that ready this weekend.

I gathered up all the flannel that I've got and I'm going to get ready to do a load of pj pants and nightgowns for all of us. I just need to wash what I've got again and then I can get moving on it. I found a super easy pj pattern for DD that has both pjs and gowns on it.

I've got a bunch of fabric already cut out that just needs to be sewn together and I'll do the same for a few other projects so I can just start sewing. Hopefully with a space to work in that I'll be able to more easily continue to work.

Anything good happening at Joann's this weekend?

WHAT? 60% off?! Woohoo, I gotta go!

Also, I think it was Leslie that posted about NBC... I may get bashed for this, but I hate it! Dd16 & dd8 don't like it either, dd7 & dd2 are scared of it. Just my opinion, sorry!

As for high school reunions, I had my 20th last month, goodness, it's amazing how some people peaked in high school and are deperate to hang on to that. :confused3 You couldn't pay me enough money to go back to that point in time. You couldn't pay me to go back to my early 20's either. Just about everyone is a mess in their early 20's. :scared1:

I like looking down the wrong side of my 30's heading for 40. I'm convinced that the best way to prevent wrinkles is to be slightly plump natural fat works so much better than that stuff people inject to get rid of wrinkles plus it's got lots of pros, I doesn't hurt to get fat (in the sense that there are no injection sites) and really if you eat food you enjoy, there's a level of pleasure and you don't have to continue to visit the plastic surgeon, just visit the fridge. :goodvibes

You go to the 20 year class reunion, and you want to see that the skinny cheerleader got a little chunky! You don't want to see her looking EXACTLY like she did 20 years ago, and NICE too! Geesh!

I am making a lion costume and I am taking 6 inch pieces of ribbon, gluing the ends and then gluing to the costume (which is a thin fleece) to make the mane. I have Alene's fabric glue which is supposed to be quick stick...or whatever, but it isn't too great.

Anyone know what I could use that would work better? I have to sit and keep pushing the ends down.

Thanks.

I've only had enough time to stay caught on these threads and not so much time to post. So I just wanted to say Great Job everyone- Seems we all had a little sewing aversion there for a bit but some great customs lately!!! There is no way I can bring my sewing machine to FL so I have to finish everything before thursday!! Hope you are having a great time t-beri. I also love NBC- My friends and I used to go to the movies on the weekends pretty regularly and NBC was one of the few movies my Ddad was excited to see so he came with us. He never went to the movies!!! So I guess it was kinda special that he went with us :goodvibes We weren't embarassed- my parents were cool most of the time :lmao: Went to Joanns today to get more fabric for my costume- That pattern LIED!!! GRRR!!! So of cousre I had to look for some of the things that have been mentioned lately- They had at least 4 different starwars fabrics- yoda, darth vader, different space crafts, and one that says star wars on it. cool- just gotta get a pj pattern so I can get to some of those when we get back :) I did pick up a couple christmas fabrics- I already have some snowman fabric I was meaning to make a quilt with. So maybe there will be a winter/ christmas outfit in the future for DD/DS. I am also attempting a pirate/princeess shirt for WDW so I better get cracking- got that stuff at Joanns today too. I'll be back with pictures......

speaking of NBC, on our list of do do's while we're here is taking the boy to see NBC in 3D:3dglasses in DTD. He saw it last year so it's really just an excuse for us to go.

It's almost 4 am and we just got back from DH's gig in St.Pete. Jeesh. Of course we had to go to Wally world after the gig, so I don't have to go tomorrow, I know my way around tampa/St.Pete so much better than O-town:confused3

OK, you'll never believe this. I was sitting here, sewing away:hippie: , when I finished attaching the top tier of my soon to be patchwork tiered twirl dress when I reach into my sewing "stuff" and discover.....the 3rd tier didn't make it into the stash:scared1: OMG, I about cried. well, the originally designed patchwork tiered twirl "skirt" turned into a dress b/c it was a little longer and it's hot here and we're going to wear it to Seaworld and just thought it would be cute as a dress, so frankly the 2 tiers w/ ruffle are plenty long enough to be a skirt. I'm going to tear down the 2 layer ruffle that was for the bottom of the 3rd tier and make it so it fits the 2nd and is only the 1 polkadot layer. My idea is to use the remaining ruffle to add to the bottom of her shirt (black with a glittery orange pumpkin-from Tar-get) We'll see how that goes.
GRRR
So initially I was totally bummed BUT I know that noone else will know (except all of you and everyone I complained to that I never get my way)that the skirt wasn't what I had planned to create and as we've said here many times our kids would be cute in potatoe sacks so I'll get over it. Though it does suck when you have a vision and a plan and you don't get to see it through to fruition. I guess I'm still getting over it:rolleyes: anyway I couldn't finish it earlier b/c I didn't have elastic, I'd only brought what I knew I needed to finish the dress (including scrap fabric but NOT the third tier) so I had to wait till my WM trip to pick up some. I will sew as soon as I am able to wake up today (it's 4:15 now) and try to get some pics up. Hopefully you guys will be around, looks like today was slow.

ALI if you read this before you leave I will be on the lookout for your cuties!

Aww, I am sure it looks great! I asked my husband yesterday if we could go to Disney today and he looked at me as if I was crazy! Next year we are going to do the Halloween party for sure: I am so jealous of you and Allikat.

We just found out that our January trip conflicts with Jacob's soccer so we won't be going. :sad1: We will go on spring break in March, but that is a long time to wait! Wait, Teresa, when is your super big trip? Maybe I can convince my husband that we have to go then!

Love it all though....I really wanted to put in my labor stories and wedding pics but couldnt even do that  Sorry. Yesterday we went to our Walmart With Fabric (as opposed to our local one without fabric  )...a mere 50 min drive, and I had to get my Christmas fabric for some outfits! What fun! Now I gotta get busy!!! Have a great day...I will post pics as I finish! :goodvibes

How about fabritac. It comes in a clear bottle with blue and red writing. I know joanns sells it. To me it's like hot clue that won't burn you. And it sets up fast.

I haven't been sewing for about a month, but this week was motivated and found time. Here's some of what I completed. I have 70+ outfits to complete by mid March, so I started early. That does not include what I'm doing for the adults on our trip.

Oh, Holly Hobby brings such memories. My DD Molly is now 37. When she was 5 I was so broke...flat broke and I bought a pattern and made her a Holly Hobby doll and a wardrobe of clothes for her....oh, and a free kitten from someone...She loved Holly HObby....

Question for anyone who has done the Disney Cruise....I am considering doing a cruise. Did you enjoy it? Is it better than spending the entire week at WDW? Did you get seasick?

Thanks...going to try the ideas for the lion costume ribbons.

My husband gets extremely seasick and got a patch from a pharmacy before we left. The first night was really rocky and he was a little queasy, but was fine from then on. I think if he didn't have the patch he would have been terribly sick.

The kids had a great time on the cruise but my husband and I wished there were more things for adults. I don't know if it's better than WDW, but the kids really loved it.

Jajone: great outfits! That's a lot of work you have got planned for March: good luck!

I'm almost sure that Jambo is correct.

I had a holly hobby crib, but it was a regular crib that my mom painted, she loved holly hobby. I had a holly hobby doll that had a pull string, i don't remember what she said though.

JAJONE has been SEW busy!!!! WOW. I feel like such a slacker. Since the
3rd tier debachle I only have to do the elastic waistband on her skirt and a ruffle at the bottom. Possibly a ruffle at the bottom of her shirt???:confused3
Oh, Steph I wish you could come tonight too.. that would be so fun. I hope I get to see Ali and her girls. There are 15 of us going which was more than I had realized. I don't know if everyone is dressing up but I think most of us are though some refused to stick with the theme:sad2:

I have to go now and run down to the pool for a few seconds while I do some seam ripping...

I just used word and made the letters really big. We have 10 in our group-5 kids and 5 adults. We are going over Easter. I have 2 outfits planned for almost everyday. I know I'm crazy, but I'm a planner and it keeps the excitement alive for me until we go. I have almost all made already (13 left and a bunch of tshirt iron ons to do) The 3 girls will always match so when I figure out 1 outfit I just whip out 3.:scared1: I have kept a schedule of what I want to sew each month until we go. As long as I can do 5 each month, I'm good.

It is most definitely JAMBO, not JAMBA. The librarian in me had to look it up or it would drive me to insanity.

I would have said to sew them on, but then we went to this resale shop looking for costumes the other day and I found one like you're making. It looks like they used hot glue? It's clear and those ribbons are on there really really good. I think they make a hot glue for fabric? It turned out really cute...whoever made this one did a good job and the ribbons stick up really cute on the hat part so it looks like a big fluffy mane. She used 2 different colors of ribbon too, which I think added to the cuteness :)

Then I have to start other DS' Mickey pjs (he keeps stealing my fabric & wrapping it around himself-hugging it:rotfl: , very excited to get these sewed!!!!) I've got to get these done tonight before bath time or he's gonna let me know what an awful Mom I am for sure! :guilty:

I finally started on Zoe's Halloween costume. I'd bought some cute green wings earlier this month with no specific plan and she decided she wanted to be Tink. Well, as cute as Tink is, her outfit is kind of plain plus not really warm enough for this time of year in our area. I decided to use lime green for most of the outfit but I'm adding fall colors as accents. Here's what I have so far:

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c368/zoe_diva/fairy1.jpg

I ended up using 5 1/2 yards of fabric for the pettiskirt and could have used even more but I bought all that the local JoAnns had. It's not as full as a Kaiya Eve pettiskirt but it works. :) I want to make some kind of sheer overskirt that I can attach leaves and flowers to. That way the pettiskirt can be easily worn with other skirts later. I have some stretch velour (in lime, of course) to use for a leotard and leggings. I'll probably add a few leaves and/or small flowers at the neckline of the leotard unless I can think of a way to add some to the wing straps. So far, Zoe seems to like what I've done and hasn't pointed out that it doesn't look much like Tinkerbell. LOL I did casually comment that the costume is Tink going to a harvest party just in case the subject of my deviations comes up. :rolleyes1

NOW my husband now tells me the last letter should ne an "A" not an "O". Anyone know what it should be?

Maybe he's thinking of Jamba Juice? :lmao:

:rolleyes1

Maybe he's thinking of Jamba Juice? :lmao:

Alrighty, Lisa! I've been waiting for someone to spill the beans about pettiskirts. How was it? What fabric did you use? Did you use the YCMT pattern? I want to give it a try, but I'm SKEERED!

I'm not sure what the fabric is called but it's a sheer knit although it doesn't have a lot of stretch. I got it at JoAnn's with the line that is called "Just Pretend" or something like that. They had this in green, pink, lavender, blue and white with coordinating tulle and stretch velour. It's usually $8 per yard but it was 50% off when I bought it... which is still more than I would typically spend on costume fabric but I figure this can work under other skirts as a petticoat. :) I think the fabric might be called tricot chiffon or something like that. Because it's a knit, it won't fray/unravel like a woven will... which meant I didn't have to finish the edges of the bottom ruffle.   The fabric isn't as soft as the Kaiya Eve fabric but I think that's because what I used has glitter on it.

I didn't use a pattern but made it basically like a tiered twirl skirt. I did two layers for this because the first one was definitely not full enough. For that layer, the bottom one, the small ruffle at the bottom is 8 widths long, the next tier 4, the second 2 and the top 1. For the top layer, I made the small ruffle 18 widths, the next tier 9, the third 3 and the top 1. I used a cotton woven for the waistband. The fabric I used wasn't very slick but I think the glitter helped there. I don't know how a plain version of the same kind of fabric would be to sew, though.

I'd never have even seriously considered doing this if I didn't have my ruffle foot. That allowed me to ruffle and stitch to the next layer in one pass. If I were to do this again, I'd make both layers like the top one. I'd also try to figure out how to cut the strips the length of the fabric instead of the width so I didn't have so many lengths to join.

you know the sewing itself did not take that long to do. except the peasant tops, those annoy me but are adorable! have 5 different colored ones to make today, but of course putting it off to talk here! HEHE anywho, it was the design that took awhile, I was trying not to get overwhelmed and make it too busy.

:goodvibes I love those peasant tops too, however I haven't had the guts to try one just yet! Maybe one day! LOL.

Question for you all! Why do you sew? I guess it sounds totally vain to say that I sew because I want my DD to stand out in the crowd. I LOVE the oohs & aahs that come when she is wearing something that I have created for her. I find it extremely gratifying. I love responding to the question, "where did you get that?" with "oh, I made it!" So, how vain is that?

SO, the reason I wondered about that - our family went to the Pumpkin Patch yesterday. Of course, my DD had on a pair of jeans that I had embellished. Everyone LOVED them! And so did my DD, and so did I! So I guess that's what matters, huh?

Anyway, here's a pic!

I love love love your work you have such talent. I should have bought wings but now I am stuck ear deep in opal like fabric trying to get two pairs of wings out of the mess I have created. I am working on traditional Tinks for the twins not the princess type. I am ok with them wearing turtle necks underneath but I don't know if I should make some green pants or have them wear tights. Any one have any suggestions?

Hi Everyone,

Just finishing up my thanksgiving outfits - i have a question -

im not sure if the dude at Joann's gave me wonder under, or wonder under light - is there a way to tell?

also, if i did use the light version, can i just do the edges of the applique with fabric paint? or will it not stick? i embroidered one pair of jeans, and am not thrilled - couldnt find a clear foot for my machine, and since i am a newbie, the turkey was a tiny bit tough,,,,

thanks, wendy

I finished Tessa's Cinderella pumpkin dress!! However, that's not what I'm posting because my computer is acting like a brat at the moment. So, here is Tessa's costume, instead! She wanted to be a fairy, but I talked her into being a "Winter fairy" seeing as how she'd freeze her butt off in the store-bought costumes. We went to a party yesterday, so she got to wear it. I just covered up her tinkerbell wings with this fabric so I didn't have to deal with trying to make them myself!

I know it's been a while since I've seen an apron dress around here, but I have a question about them. The pattern has you putting buttons on and I"m not quite understanding the directions. Would anyone who has made one explain the buttons to me or take a picture of theirs?

I can't wait to show you all of my creations for our Thanksgiving trip! Just have a few finishing touches left!

The buttons go on the little corners of the apron top that goes under the front of the top. Hmmm that doesn't make much sense. Then the little strip of fabric with the two button holes on it connects them in the front of the child under the front (across the belly) The Front of the dress has ties on the same corners and then you tie them across the back of the child.

It makes a lot more sense when you actually put it on your DD.

Here is the back of the completed top. The buttons are on the pink part of the top.
http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n205/i20west/IMG_4879.jpg

Here is the front of the completed top. You can't see the buttoned part but it is under the front "Flap" If you don't use the buttons then the childs sides would be hanging out so to speak.

Hope this helps

You ask why we sew? Well, for me there are several reasons.

1. I like DD being dressed nicely and looking cute! It always pleases me when she is in something unique.

2. I too like the compliments from others - DH, strangers, etc. Vain yes, but true.

3. It is fun! It's my new hobby but I just need to stay motivated with it.

4. It is cheaper to make her a custom holiday (be it Halloween, Christmas, etc) outfits than I could buy them for.

OH OK...I'm understanding more now about the button placement and get that but...

I'm going to sound like a dunce now...did you sew the part with the two button holes to the wrong side of the front? Wouldn't that put a rectangle on the front of the dress?

HEY GUYS!!! Guess What I saw today!!!??? Tessa in her all finished Cinderella outfit!!!! She looked GORGEOUS!!!!! But you all have to wait AGAIN!!! :rotfl:

What do you mean we have to wait, didn't you take any pictures of Heather's Cinderella Pumpkin outfit??? Don't you know most of us on here are impatient and want to see these creations NOW...okay okay...so is it just me? hahaha

Why do you think I mentioned it. ;)
speaking of NBC, on our list of do do's while we're here is taking the boy to see NBC in 3D:3dglasses in DTD. He saw it last year so it's really just an excuse for us to go.

It's almost 4 am and we just got back from DH's gig in St.Pete. Jeesh. Of course we had to go to Wally world after the gig, so I don't have to go tomorrow, I know my way around tampa/St.Pete so much better than O-town
OK, you'll never believe this. I was sitting here, sewing away , when I finished attaching the top tier of my soon to be patchwork tiered twirl dress when I reach into my sewing "stuff" and discover.....the 3rd tier didn't make it into the stash OMG, I about cried. well, the originally designed patchwork tiered twirl "skirt" turned into a dress b/c it was a little longer and it's hot here and we're going to wear it to Seaworld and just thought it would be cute as a dress, so frankly the 2 tiers w/ ruffle are plenty long enough to be a skirt.

Goodnight goodnight, parting is such sweet sorrow that I should say good night till it be morrow.
...t.

I STILL can't wait to see some pictures!!! I am waiting VERY patiently here while you have so much fun there in Orlando!! All I ask for is some picutres. Is that too much??? :confused3 ;)

It is not just you! That is totally unfair and I demand to see the Cinderella outfit now!!!

We are going in May. Yeah, you should go then! Although, we are thinking of making a trip overy your way too.

I haven't been sewing for about a month, but this week was motivated and found time.

I'm so proud of myself for completing sooo much this weekend. I also did 3 shirts for my DSIL and finished a pheasant cinderella top for my DN xmas present. I sewed the elastic on 3 tutu skirts and have one more to go. It's only Sunday morning! I only have my DS15mos here today, the other 2 are at grandma's so I have time to sew again.   3 minimum bananas right? Sorry for the long post, just haven't posted any completed projects for so long I got a little excited:woohoo: :woohoo:
WOW!!! I love these! My favorites are the Animal Kindgom outfits! Jambo!

I was so frustrated with screwing up the dress that goes under the robe, I wasn't going to finish it. But, she looked so sad when I told her I wasn't going to finish it, that I went ahead and did it.

S T U N N I N G!!!!!! She is SOOOOOOOOOOO beautiful!!!!!
Heather-

LOVE the darling girl (such a cute little thing), LOVE the dress and the cotume (can TOTALLY understand why you had to finish it because of the look of disappointment on DD's face)

But PLEASE TELL ME.......

What the heck is that HAIRY THING on the fireplace ???

That does look weird doesn't it!!! :lmao: That picture isn't Heather's house (the other two are), it was at the party she went to.
But, I would like to vote for it being Heather's wig when she wants to feel really perty!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: :thumbsup2

Question for anyone who has done the Disney Cruise....I am considering doing a cruise. Did you enjoy it? Is it better than spending the entire week at WDW? Did you get seasick?

Susan

We love the Disney Cruise. The last time we went was in 2004. Seven days on the Magic. We went with a big group of people, about 18 people - 6 families. No got seasick. Some of the adults missed having a casino on board. Most adults LOVED the adults-only pool area. There are so many kids on board that it's nice to get away from them. It's so quiet there.

My husband likes going to different islands more than having days at sea. He's not much for laying out. He enjoyed touring the kitchen. He's ready to go on another one, more so than going back to WDW.

There are characters on the boat. They sign autographs. The kids enjoyed the Kid's Club. My kids were too young for the club and went to Flounder's Reef (the nursery) a few times.

No one loved the food.

I don't know that I can really compare the two. It's just 2 different types of trips.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

LOL!! I guess I should have mentioned that picture was taken at a Halloween party. I really have no idea what that thing was. There were all sorts of strange things on their fireplace. The woman who lives there said it was a character from a book or something. It looked like it was a trick or treat basket of some kind. :confused3

Love love love the costumes. so creative!!

I have to say, I really like the queen of hearts costume. That was a great idea! The dress I made my little one, I posted it a while back, was red and white polka dots with a minnie appliqued on the front, I had her wear it this weekend as a minnie costume, and bought her minnie ears from the disney store. We went camping, and she won best costume in her age group!!!:rotfl: I couldn't find a costume that suited her, so she ended up with that.

I am working on some skirts for the girls now, and procrastinating putting the ruffles on. I do need to get to it, since my kitchen table is filled with sewing stuff. Oh well, it's fun and I guress I can look at the mess a little longer.:scared1:

I don't have an avatar and I enjoy reading your long posts. I sometimes only have a minute or two to play "catch up" on this thread, so it's hard to comment. When I get some time, I'll have to look into this avatar stuff.
Yes, you certainly will...<----insert smiley checking his watch, tapping his foot right here.

These are both adorable!!

And yes my hubby did stop to buy the Dr his banana cream pie on the way to the hospital.
Sorry If i grossed anyone out but I wanted to share my stories to.
I was SO not grossed out and I loved reading your birth stories. It sounds like you had a pretty scary time after the twins were born. As for the banana cream pie- :rotfl2:

You caught me. This thread goes so fast that I usually just look at the pretty pictures and only read every once in awhile.
I also have a habit of getting you and your sister confused.
I did go on your blog thingie one time though and read about you and your husband.
or your sister and her husband. :rotfl2:
I get confused too easily!!!!
But from now on, I will be sure to skim your posts for any interesting poop stories.
Well, both my sister and I have websites with stories...I can't remember if she has a story about how she met her husband, though. Just remember I'm the WAY funnier one ;) and I humiliate my husband with every post without a single thought to his feelings (on wearing lime green mickey ears).
Yes, you must read all my posts, you never know when an interesting bodily function story might pop up!

OK, HeatherSue - just because you asked (and it was about time I did) I got myself an avatar AND a siggy! I'm a cool kid now!

With DS (4), my water broke on its own at 4:30 in the morning on March 2, 2003. I add the date in because I REALLY wanted his birthday to be 3/3/03. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y237/lorib587/th_pirateshirt1.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y237/lorib587/th_pirateshirt2.jpg Sorry for the ginormously long post!
First of all, don't you make me make any more rules for apologizing!!!
Secondly, Tessa was born on March 19, 2003, so our kiddos are really close in age! Third, I LOVE your avatar and your siggy. But, you were already cool. :cool2: Fourth, LOVE the pirate outfit!!!!

My sister bought me these red silky pj bottoms & I had to change because I slid right off the couch!
:lmao: That is a hilarious mental image!

WHAT!?!?!?!?!? You HAVEN'T seen NBC???? I'm not sure but I think that is a crime punishable by death in some countries.

...t.
I haven't seen it either! It looks so creepy and icky!

People get us confused in real life all the time too! She's so pretty, I don't mind!
But, to be fair, the nurse had told everyone who was there (my entire family waiting out there for me for so long!) that I was tired and needed my rest. :sad2: (It's on the video, so I know it's true!)
You're so sweet! But, no one has ever told me that I was H-O-T ssss, or that I look just like Demi Moore. The only celebrity I've been compared to was Pam from the Office (thank you Steph, I will treasure it always). Plus, that was just saying that the picture of me with my face mostly covered looked like Pam from the office. What I'm getting at is that my sister is gorgeous!

I never would have left you all alone if it wasn't for that stinkin' nurse! I thought you must have told her that you wanted to sleep!

Oh crud! I have a potluck to go to tomorrow, and I said I'd make a cake. A cake I've made countless times before. But, wouldn't you know it, I couldn't find my recipe, and had to look up one online. And, I am using a different cake pan than usual. So, I burnt it a bit!
Watergate cake....mmmmmm.......

This picture is so cute! You guys made some really cool pumpkins!

Wait, Teresa, when is your super big trip? Maybe I can convince my husband that we have to go then!
We're going from May 3-May 17!!! See, this is why people confuse us because I answer for her.

[URL="http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa126/jajone/th_DSC01222.jpg
WOW!! You should be proud!! I like everything, but I particularly like this shirt for you, so cool!

My husband gets extremely seasick and got a patch from a pharmacy before we left. The first night was really rocky and he was a little queasy, but was fine from then on. I think if he didn't have the patch he would have been terribly sick.
I can't convince my husband to go on a cruise for this very reason. Frankly, I'm a little scared that he WOULD be sick the whole time and that wouldn't be fun for me, either.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c368/zoe_diva/th_fairy1.jpg
That is turning out really cute, Lisa!

Also, YES my miss piggy had a purple dress and gloves! She has a sweet story behind her and such sentimental value! I hope I always have her! I should take a pic of her and put it in my avatar!:)
I MUST see your picture of Miss Piggy! I loved my Miss Piggy puppet! I used to make her say "Hy-A" and flap her arms at people all the time. Aaah..memories...

Spongealicious- Girlfriend, I yam SO glad you're home!!!!! Your pirates look so adorable!!!!

Everyone- I've been ridiculously behind because I had to make some seriously obscure POKEMON TRAINER costumes from scratch---pictures to follow (act like you know who the Sam-Hill they are!). Funny, The boys in the PokeMon demographic (ages 9-18) totally know who my boys were! I was dumfounded...but my boys thought they looked like the trainers at our church's "Trunk or Treat" last night, so I guess that's all that matters. The best part was I was able to purchase all the elements at our new DI Thrift Store for cheap and just sewed a little...I'll explain when I post the pics. A glue gun was involved at the very last because we were running late :rolleyes1

Norah finally got to wear her Alice and was a huge hit, thankfully. But for "tricker treating" she'll be her witch again...with her mama witch!

Thesea are all great! The kissing booth has to be my favorite. How funny!

Question for you all! Why do you sew?http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i236/scrappindisney/th_IMG_3177.jpg
CUTE picture!! I sew because 1. The feeling of accomplishment I get when I complete a cute outfit 2. Because I love to design stuff the way I want it 3. I want my kids to have something "different" 4. The most important reason- so all of you will say that you like it!

Looks like Cousin it has aged some is what it looks like!! Did you notice 'it's' plugged in??

Eh......... may it's Heather's wig... you know.... for the times she wants to feel extra special! :rotfl2:
:rotfl2: How did you know!?
QUOTE]Question is there a such thing as winter mermaids? :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: My daughter wants to be little mermaide next year and wants her twin sisters to be arieals sisters. Talk about freezing little bootys off.:dance3:. Just wanted to give everyone something to laugh about.

I love the compliments too! Makes me feel so good!

But PLEASE TELL ME.......

OMG! It's so beautiful! My DD saw it and immediately wants one :sad2: Like I've got time to conquer my fear of zippers before we leave next month (not to mention that next month starts this week! :scared1: ) What pattern did you use? It's a gorgeous dress.

I love all the costumes and outfits that everyone's been doing lately. I'll try to catch up some more this week.

It's finally done!! I'd like to thank fortheluvofpooh for getting the sparkly brown fabric for me. Without her, this dress would have no bottom ruffle. Thank you to all of you wonderfuly sweet women who went to your local WalMart in search of it, too! :grouphug: You're all so great! The outdoor pictures are sort of fuzzy and I don't know why. :confused3 I'd like to point out that this was my first zipper. If you don't look too closely, it doesn't look too bad! I still think Cinderella looks both surprised and suspicious...

Thank you!! The pattern is McCalls 4888. It really wasn't too hard to make the actual dress. The appliques took me a while, though. I added the tie because it fit a little loose on Tessa. The zipper wasn't bad at all. It's nothing to be skerred of!

I love love love your work you have such talent. I should have bought wings but now I am stuck ear deep in opal like fabric trying to get two pairs of wings out of the mess I have created. I am working on traditional Tinks for the twins not the princess type. I am ok with them wearing turtle necks underneath but I don't know if I should make some green pants or have them wear tights. Any one have any suggestions?
I made baby legs for my dd to go along with her tinkerbell costume- they were a pair of socks for adults that you cut off the foot part and make into a cuff on the bottom. I saw them here of course- so you may have seen them too. I can post the link for the directions if you want.

It's finally done!! I'd like to thank fortheluvofpooh for getting the sparkly brown fabric for me. Without her, this dress would have no bottom ruffle. HEY GUYS!!! Guess What I saw today!!!??? Tessa in her all finished Cinderella outfit!!!! She looked GORGEOUS!!!!! But you all have to wait AGAIN!!! :rotfl:

You have been really mean lately! I can't believe the tag fairy is rewarding this kind of behavior!

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l148/spongemommie05/th_disneyland2324.jpg

Welcome back! They look so stinkin' cute and I'm glad they got a lot of attention (and you too!).

I MUST see your picture of Miss Piggy! I loved my Miss Piggy puppet! I used to make her say "Hy-A" and flap her arms at people all the time. Aaah..memories...

1) I think Pam from the office is gorgeous, therefor you must be as well.
2) My sister had a Miss Piggy puppet with the purple dress. I was a Kermit fan, myself. Did anyone have the John Denver + Muppets Christmas album? My parents used to play it every Christmas.

What a great idea! I wish I would have thought of that before I let my son buy a horribly scary costume and now I can't even go trick or treating with him! A Pokemon trainer would have been perfect! Please post pictures when you can so I can show him!

These are two of my Thanksgiving outfits. I've loved this pumpkin fabric for a long time, but never knew what I would do with it. Then someone posted a cute outfit on here using the same fabric along with this green and gave me these ideas.

Heather, you did a GREAT job on the Cinderella dress! Love the appliques!

Everyone's Halloween costumes have been great, and so original!

I am working on a couple of projects, but nothing is finished yet! I will try to post some pictures later this week!

DW and I did get a bunch of Christmas fabric this weekend, (all on SALE!, music to my ears!;) ) hopefully I won't be putting the finishing touches on anything the morning of Christmas Eve!:rolleyes1

Did anyone have the John Denver + Muppets Christmas album? My parents used to play it every Christmas.

My parents still have and we listen to it every year as we decorate the tree. I even had to buy a copy for my house so we could continue the tradition; my husband thinks I am crazy. Good memories.

1. Can't get what I want off the rack
2. It's fun and I love love it
3. It is an art to me. I feel like I am creating a masterpiece when I sew.
And, I take such pride in my creations. Did you know that years ago Miss America contestants would show the fashions they made for the talent competition?
4. I love to sew for my grandchildren and see how happy they are with their special outfits.
5. I love to hear my grandchildren say, My Grandma made this for me. Just like I did when my children were young. I do it out of love.

We didn't do Christmas OR John Denver in my house growing up! Why thank you for thinking I looked gorgeous like Pam with my veil falling in my face while I'm about to topple over onto my head! I LOVE The Office. It's one of my very favorite shows. Pam and Jim...

I never noticed it's an upside down hidden Mickey!! I guess it was REALLY hidden! This dress is a cross between a size 4 (the bodice) and a size 6 (the sleeves and the rest). I ended up cutting 9" off the bottom of the dress because I didn't want it to be floor length. I don't know if I can let go of this, even after she outgrows it!! It's big enough she'll probably be able to wear it next year, too.

I absolutely    it! I must make something like this for dd7 now! She loves all things Cinderella and this will make the perfect Christmas gift! Hope you don't mind being CASEd

How bad does it make me that I am sitting here wishing that I could play hooky from Bible study and stay home and sew????????:sad2:

I feel evil for even typing it!:scared1:

I'm not going to do it. Even though I am really psyched to start my sock monkey outfit and even though I have been running like crazy all weekend doing fall/Halloween stuff and I would love to stay in my jammies all day.

I lead it though so how bad would it be to make sure that I make everyone stay "on-track" so we get through it super fast?????:rolleyes1

There have been some super cute stuff posted lately and it's just making me want to sew sew sew!

Here is a pic of my girls at their halloween party this weekend. We were at Carter Caves, KY. Caitlyn, my oldest, was Hannah Montanna, and Mackenzie was minnie. I will upload better costume pics later. I am off to bed.

Your girls are gorgeous!

These are two of my Thanksgiving outfits. I've loved this pumpkin fabric for a long time, but never knew what I would do with it. Then someone posted a cute outfit on here using the same fabric along with this green and gave me these ideas.

FABULOUS! Love both of them and I like that they match but aren't exactly the same!

That's the pattern I used for Parker's Barbie Island Princess dress too. I thought the pattern was very easy to follow as well.

BTW, Tessa's dress is gorgeous and you did an amazing job on it as well as all the applique's.

Just out of curiosity, how long did it take you to complete the dress?

So your little girl's name is Parker? I'm glad to have a name to go with her face because she makes me giggle everytime I see her! She has the best "pose face" that I think I have ever seen. Your pics crack me up because she always has her "cheese" on and it looks like she just stops when you point the camera at her and no matter what she's in the middle of makes her face!!!!

You're gonna have to get her into cheerleading when she is a teenager!

You ARE gorgeous! And, even though I think Pam is gorgeous, YOU are much prettier than her.

I never would have left you all alone if it wasn't for that stinkin' nurse! I thought you must have told her that you wanted to sleep!
I believe you!

Watergate cake....mmmmmm.......

Yah.....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.............

Well, glow in the dark ricrac IS cool!
Yeah! It is! The skirt was haning on the bedpost last night, and it glowed all night! Very cool.
TeresaJoyce- SWEET NEW TAG, Sister! Very happy for you!!!!
Thank you! I also want to point out that, even though it LOOKS like I have three tags from the tag fairy, the first two were just my taglines that the tagfairy had so nicely colorized for me.

And, thanks for spelling my name right! ;)

Now, I'm sitting here wondering which Pokemon trainers you made. Misty, in honor of Spongie? :lmao:

WOO-HOO!!!:woohoo: I have a famous sister!!:woohoo:
Does anyone else read that last line and think of that old M&M's (I think) commercial where the little kid says "Thanks Easter Bunny"?
HEATHER!

Thank you! I think she's gorgeous, but I may be a little biased!
Well, I think she gorgeous, and I'm not biased!

Has any one ever seen a Snow White peasant's dress? Or a Briar Rose (Aurora) in her drab dress? I wonder things like this when I'm reading to Norah our of her Princess Collection Story book.... OH! maybe a blue Aurora? Untapped market I guess!:confused3
GREAT ideas Wendy! I have always wanted to make my girls a blue Aurora dress. I think you should do it, since you are the Aurora dress expert!

YCMT just sent me new coupon codes good now until November 1:

Teresa, congrats on the new tag!
Thankfully the tag fairy didn't see me mention that I have turned out to be the daughter that my mother had always wanted!:scared1:
Thanks Tom! You know, I don't think I told you how much I laughed when I read that comment of yours!!!

Has anyone been tagged on THIS thread? If Teresa got tagged here, we all better start saying witty tagworthy things! The TF will probably look to see how much clamor Teresa's caused!

Lisa, CastleCreations, got tagged a few weeks ago.

You MUST ask for a new sewing machine for Christmas! Do you all know that her sewing machine doesn't even have those little seam guide lines!?

WHAT???

We didn't do Christmas OR John Denver in my house growing up! Why thank you for thinking I looked gorgeous like Pam with my veil falling in my face while I'm about to topple over onto my head! I LOVE The Office. It's one of my very favorite shows. Pam and Jim...

No Christmas, no birthday parties, no Halloween, no Easter etc.............. = Presents and candy ALL YEAR LONG!!!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Our friends were so jealous of us!

See, it was worth the wait, wasn't it! This is EVEN prettier in person! Tessa was just glowing in it yesterday! Of course, she went around telling people (my Mom had a little party, so that's where we were) "My Mommy just LOVES Cinderella!"

On a side note, she also told Brian, my husband, her uncle, "I missed you Uncle Brian, I don't get to see you very often." She is such a little sweetie!

I wouldn't waste money on the embroidery one if I were you. I did, and it's very frustrating. I just use it as a regular sewing machine and it works fine, but it does not embroider well on t-shirt matrerial - and that's what I wanted to use it for mostly.
it even "ate" a burp cloth I was making when I tried to put a decorative stitch on it.

The weather was beautiful last night for MNSSHP!!! We ended up with a group of 15!!! we had 3 gangsters, a flapper, a gatsby girl and a 1920's Moviestar, Lily was a paper boy...we also had the adams family, Dr. Seymour Bush :sad2:, his nurse and a clown.

popcorn:: We went to the monorail via the GF, which I thought was funny. We had to ask 2 different people to take pictures of us all w/ 2 digital cameras each and as we're posing for 20 minutes we realize that OTHER people are taking our picture too. It was too funny we were like mini stars.

We had a great time. Lily got to meet so many characters she LOVES like from Tarzan and Lion King. But we didn't see Simba or Mickey. We got to Mickeys house at 11:40 thinking we had waited out the crowds and most of the little kids had gone home by then. But even though the line was short and there was noone else behind us they would NOT let Lily in. :rolleyes1 SUCK. We won't be going back to MK, so hopefully she'll get to see him in another park. We've been telling her we were going to Mickey's house for weeks. Dadda told her Mickey was not home and we showed her plutos bone and looked around the house ...AHHHH:scared1: We did not go into Minnies house, which is NO big deal but I DIDN"T GET THE SEWING MACHINE PIC!!!!! SUCK!!! what the crap??? Now I'm depressed. I'm gonna have to find a way back to MK....
Except that it is raining and is not supposed to let up until Fri. when we will be driving home. We are hanging out today playing some games and we'll watch a movie later when it's dark.

ON TOPIC- Lilys patchwork skirt ended up being 2 tiers w/ a black ruffle between them and on the bottom. She will wear it w/ black leggings and a black tee from target w/ a glittery pumpkin. and I am NOT stressing about it. wanna hear my new "if i makes me feel better" rationale for leaving off the bottom ruffle. If I leave off the extra bottom ruffle then I can add the third tier later and the ruffle and then resize the waist NEXT YEAR!!! right? I mean she's gonna wear it once, maybe twice... Well, it sounded like a solid plan anyway.
Now, if I stop typing we're gonna see if we can upload last nights photos....keep your fingers crossed.

I made baby legs for my dd to go along with her tinkerbell costume- they were a pair of socks for adults that you cut off the foot part and make into a cuff on the bottom. I saw them here of course- so you may have seen them too. I can post the link for the directions if you want.

no I have not seen them would you mind shareing that would be sew great another thing to add to my pile before wednesday. Lets seeQUOTE]

Here is the Baby Legs directions site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/babyhopes/sets/72157594274454468/
They were pretty quick and easy once you understood it. I just had to read it a couple times and study the pictures- the computer is upstairs and the sewing machine is downstairs so I got a little workout going back and forth. But Once I made the first pair it was easy doing another. I made one for her costume and one for her witch costume. I bought the socks at target for like $6 for two pair. I didn't think that was to bad for two pair of leggings. My dd is 15 mo. so I did cut them down a little before I put the cuff on. Here is a picture of the witch costume ones- Green argyle very witchy I thought :rotfl:

Good luck hope this helps-
Gotta go do the :laundy: Wish me luck- you know I don't want to have a reinjury right before our trip :rotfl2:

:lmao: Yes I will wish you luch instead of break a leg cause that would not be good. Thanks for the idea I will have to run into my kmart that is a block away from my house. I tol me hubby next time he gets me that close to a store it better be a walmart. :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2 And might I add how adorable she is in her custum argyle leggings.

Pumpkin Patch Pictures!!

DS didn't get a custom this time around, but he still had fun. Why do I sew, you ask... DD got half a dozen comments
(at each of the 3 places we went) about her outfit. She was very proud. When we were leaving the pumpkin patch she was holding my hand. She looked up at me and said, "Thanks for my pretty dress mom, I love it!! You're the best, mom!!" That's why I sew!!

I was so frustrated with screwing up the dress that goes under the robe, I wasn't going to finish it. But, she looked so sad when I told her I wasn't going to finish it, that I went ahead and did it.

:cloud9: Awww she looks adorable and I think you did a FANTASTIC job on the costume. Great idea about just covering up the Tink wings!!! I like easy! Hahahaha

I for one don't think it's a bad thing to want to stay in your jammies all day. Maybe you can compermise wear your jammies to the study.:rotfl::lmao:

I compromised and wore comfy clothes! The ladies were really talkative today so it went a little longer than it might have, but it was fine. I really do love it and that is why I started it, but I do have the temptation to be lazy every once and again.

Now, I just need to start some laundry (I'll be very careful because we all know how dangerous this can be!) and get my pigsty/house tidied up a bit and get to sewing.
