I'm finally working on the autograph books. I have the 5 X 7 book and I've covered the front and back with fabric. I "glued" the fabric on using Mod Podge and I've gone over each piece with two coats. Tomorrow the kiddies will be adding the scrapbook stickers that they picked out at Joann's. Should I use ModPodge as my "glue" for these items too? I plan on sealing them using ModPodge and Acrylic Sealer. The "stickers" are raised (3d) and I'm curious as to what tool to use to apply the ModPodge. I used a sponge brush on the fabric, but I'm scared that would ruin the raised portions of the "stickers". Does anyone have advise?
Sometimes the modpodge gets sticky. I modpodged the inside of my book because I also used scrapbook paper inside mine for an inside cover. And the first page is a TITLE page. Well, sometimes my title page kinda sticks to the inside cover. I didn't modpodge any of the inside embellishments. I cant post a inside picture of it because it's goodness-knows-where! Sorry!
But even though mine sticks a little, it's not damaged or torn at all from the sticking. Maybe try one page and see? For an obscure character

I have to steal this strap idea too....I hate how her straps fall off her shoulders on some of her tops I made, and I dont want to make them smaller for fear of not being able to get the on and off of her!
Here she realizes I'm actually planning to go inside with her!!! ::scared1:

Is there a place online I can look up patterns so I dont have to do it at the stores in the books? (preferrable mccalls because they are on sale) I have to take DD with me to the fabric store today and dont want to have to sit ther ewith her while I try to find what I need. I want to make her a Jasmine outfit...as she has told me several times it is the only one she doesnt have yet :rotfl:
I also want to pick up the Alice pattern too...she doesnt have that yet and has been watching that movie over and over again for about 2 weeks.

Just wanted to encourage all the nursing students on this thread! I'm sure you'll all be awesome nurses and goodness knows we need more of those!
I've been a NICU nurse for 7 years now and I love it! I does cut into the sewing time, though, LOL!
Good luck to you all and have fun with all of those nursing diagnoses!
gee...thanks...
here's one for me...

I love that face!
Whoo hoo! I have to tell someone! I totally just made a Mike from Monsters costume. My best friend was looking for one and the one she wanted went to $50 already on ebay or whatever we call it. So tonight I have made one! I am so excited! She is fast asleep though so can't share my joy!
Ok, get that child up so we can see it!!!!
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y163/hlauburn/th_ttrop.jpg
I think the outfit is adorable! And why is it that we all think it's adorable when "other" people's girls do this? But it's not funny when our's does it!?
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u194/AimeeG_photo/th_fire.jpg
I love the ricrac trim on the bottom and the colors look so good together! I agree that the crab looks very tricky. You are very brave my friend!

Yep, I do it all the time! And you never know if your store will have the books, someone may have sold them!!! :rotfl:

From there you can choose Butterick, McCalls and Vogue

:rotfl: I'm cracking up picturing Megan hopping around in the mermaid outfit!!!
When I was younger, I use to tell everyone that I was going to be a mermaid at Weeki Wachee. I use to love going there! We had a pool at home, and I would practice swimming around with my legs tied together with a piece of shoelace! Unfortunately, I wasn't that young when I did that! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I used to do the same thing when we visited my grandmother's retirement community and we got to swim in a pool! I loved Weeki Wachee when I was a kid. I am sure all the seniors thought I was nuts!
Oh my goodness! That is an awesome costume!!! What kind of fabric is that? Is like swimsuit material? It's very shimmery - perfect for a mermaid! And your DD is a gorgeous mermaid!
It is purple sparkly swimsuit material. My mother actually made swimsuit bottoms so it would be useful as well as gorgeous but either my dad lost them packing them or we did unpacking. I never saw them.

I wanna see too!
Arminda and Lydia are now both BEGGING me to make them this outfit! Then, they saw me looking at the Weeki Wachee site, and they want to wear the outfits there!
I'll e-mail my mom and ask what pattern she used. I don't think it was hard, except the end of the tail was tricky she said.
Are princesses supposed to make these faces?? :rotfl:

I call that the "princess pout" and I think all princesses make it! That outfit is just stunning: have a great time!
We are going to a Seafood/ Chesapeake Bay Festival this weekend. This is the dress I made for both of my girls. This is the baby's first custom. I am so excited.
I do suggest not learing how to applique with the MD Blue Crab. (They are blue until you steem them. Yummo! Well I don't like them but a lot people do.:rotfl: )
I still have to cut some little threads. I was busy watching Monk and Psych tonight.:rotfl2:
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u194/AimeeG_photo/th_fire.jpg
I love it! I really like the blue and orange together: it's very striking. And not that I have an occasion to make a crab, but I think I'll leave the sea creature appliqués to you! I love the buttons for the eyes.

Hey everyone -- just letting you know I am still here, lurking here and there. I've been too busy to sew and my fabric stash keeps growing. :scared1: I did want to share what happened this week at DD's school. Thursday was the school's yearly back to school picnic. All of the teachers came up to me and asked where I was buying DD's clothes because everything she had been wearing to school was so cute. When I told them that I made them, they could not believe it. This made me feel really proud (since I've only been sewing for about 2 months, I also thought "Thank goodness, they are not looking at the inside of the outfits (not too pretty)). Anyway -- if that's not encouragement for a newbie, I don't know what it.
Also, OT, DH swapped one of "his toys" for a boat -- so we've been driving to the river every day. Actually, we will be off in about 10 minutes. We're thinking of names -- right now "Still Afloat" is in the lead. (Does this call for a custom outfit for DD?) --
KEEP UP ALL THE HARD WORK!! I've loved all the custom autograph books lately -- wonderful!!

I agree that it's inspiring when someone admires your work. Especially when they do so before they know you made it.
I think the new boat does call for a new custom for your dd!! ;)

:rotfl: Sorry, I just had to throw in that nursing diagnosis part. ;) I think care plans are the worst part of nursing school! It's worth it, though, I promise!
I really admire all of you who are going back to school and have kids at home, a household to run, etc. You are superheroes!

OK, I have one more outfit to share before I call it a night. We have to catch an early flight for Disney tomorrow morning - woohoo! :yay:
We just got this one tonight. MIL made it for DD to wear on the cruise, and probably to 'Ohana one night. Kinda tropical and cruisey :) .

I love this outfit too!

I would imagine Archiver's still carries the line. If you want, I will look on my paper to tell you the correct name so you can call them. I try to stay away from that place! As for the lunch box, I can't remember. Maybe Michaels. I know Joann's carried them for a while. Oriental trading carries them. Again, this is something I have had for over a year and finally used! Since you scrap you know how we collect things! I went to 3 Targets today to try and find the Primas on clearance, no luck!!
I've been hunting for these papers as well. The brand in Reminisce and the line is called Real Magic. I did find several of the papers in stock at scrapbook.com. The Reminisce website also has a store locator which might help you. I got a couple of the metal lunchboxes from Oriental trading and I was very happy with them.
Are the lunchboxes plain? Or are they painted? I try to stay away from Archiver's too! But it is hard once you go you can't stop. I have to drive 45 minutes to get to the one near me so. But please let me know if you can what the names are of the papers. I have some coupons for Archivers so I know I will be going back soon!
I didn't know Target had Primas hmmm I am looking for some of those. I may have to run in and look.
I bought an "M" at Michael's today but it is a little different style than yours and I found the little metal "memories" sign today too.

You did a great job! Love the twirl factor!
Hi everyone, as always, I'm in catching up mode. I'm loving all the outfits that I'm seeing, though it seems to be slowing down a bit? Perhaps because everyone is actually going off to WDW this month for free dining!
I need to send out a thank you to the ladies that shared the idea of Locks of Love that their daughters had participated in. Your sharing gave me the idea to ask my 8 year old if she would consider cutting off her hair to donate it. She made me very proud when she said yes!   This is the child who told me she was never going to cut her hair and agonized over the 1/2-inch trim I gave her last month. Anyway, here's her before and then her after is the newest outfit I finished for her.

While I'm at it, heres a t-shirt, twirl dress I completed for the baby. It's amazing how fast and easy this was! I definitely want to do more, maybe with long sleeves. I thought the top of the shirt was too plain so I simply added a sequin patch.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u224/tarazandra/th_DSC00944.jpg
What a sweet DD you have! She looks so adorable with her new cut too! Love both the outfits!!!
My mom made Megan a mermaid outfit but she can't walk in it:
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e212/stephres/th_100_0407.jpg
LOL - LOVE IT!
Well everyone I survived my first week of school sort of. I was so tired I couldnt comment on all of the creations this week individually....but know that I saw everything with toothpicks holding my eyelids open....;) Great job everyone!!!
Ohhhh VERY NICE!!! Now we had the discussion at least a month ago but I never heard what the final consensous was.....can you or can you not use the Cricut to cut out fabric appliques? Don't you think that will dull the blade? :confused3 :confused3
I think it will probably dull a little quicker than the cutting paper - but worth it for some things that are tricky!
Zoe started school yesterday... finally. Unfortunately, this summer she made it clear that she doesn't want to wear clothes that make her stand out too much so I tried to keep her "First Day" outfit simple. The tshirt was fine but I have a feeling the skirt won't be worn again. :(
This is as she walked away from me... as if she'd be able to leave me outside. :lmao:
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c368/zoe_diva/th_bts1.jpg
Here she realizes I'm actually planning to go inside with her!!! ::scared1:
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c368/zoe_diva/th_bts2.jpg
Oh the embarrassment - I made a major faux pas and actually asked for a "good bye" kiss when there were other kids nearby! :rolleyes1
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c368/zoe_diva/th_bts4.jpg
The good news is she loves school and thinks it's FUN. The bad news is I have to revise my plans for new outfits I was going to make for her to wear to school. :headache:
I think the outfit looks great - and not over the top at all. DD7.5 (LOL) is not having issues with clothing yet - as long as it is comfortable. BUT - she won't let me sing in public or private sometimes for that matter! They grow up so fast. Sometimes I wonder if I should stop making some customs for DD - she will wear them - but I don't want her to be teased.

The lunch boxes are painted white on the outside. The paper is the same as what Cutterbug listed. Target had Primas marked down 75% off, so they were like $1.74. I bought a couple of bottles for $4.88 and thought that was great! I think I got my M from Hobby Lobby. The B on the autograph book is just 2 pages of cardstock. I didn't want to make it too bulky!

Ok, I finally got some better photos of the outfits I posted the other day! As soon as I put the minnie twirl on Ella, she started singing "I'm a little princess" and swishing her hips! What a crack up! She's going to be trouble, I just know it.

Still not caught up! But I am home from our week at my Mom's and the big news is I won the bet I had with my husband! YAHOOOO! :cool1:
He bet me an upgrade from the 70 stitch Brother sewing machine at costco to the Disney Brother machine (SE270D).
I am so excited I won! His memory is usually much better than mine and I have learned over the last 10 plus years not to bet anything with him if my memory is involved. But this time I was sure I was right and I WAS RIGHT!
Poor guy, I have been rubbing it in since we got home last night at 11. But he has been a good loser.
So, I am in serious need of sewing machine reviews.
I love the idea of the Brother SE270D
http://content.costco.com/Images/Content/Product/157026.jpg
But it intimidates me a bit also. Who has it? Do you like it?
I have found really mixed reviews online so I am looking for more info.
Thanks.
Now I need to go back about 50 pages or so and get caught up.
I love the back to school outfits and the costumes you are making.
What a talented group.
Thanks for sharing, its seriously inspiring.

I have this machine. I do like it, but keep in mind it's my first machine so I have nothing to compare it to. The loading of the thread, threading the needle, and loading the bobbin are super easy. Buttonholes are only one step, which I love. But if you don't plan to do a lot of embroidery I'd say get a different one. But I love it. The only downfall I found is that it makes a loud thumping noise when you do lots of layers. It sews them fine, but the noise is kind of scary:eek: Good luck

Best friend wanted one for her son. This really isn't for Dallas. It was just a practice run for nothing! But Dallas was asleep and her son is about 14 months old, although I think it would fit.

That is so nice!!! Isn't it wonderful to be able to say, "I made it!" ?! The new boat DEFINETELY calls for a new outfit!
Ok, I finally got some better photos of the outfits I posted the other day! As soon as I put the minnie twirl on Ella, she started singing "I'm a little princess" and swishing her hips! What a crack up! She's going to be trouble, I just know it.
So here they are - there's a lot, but I was excited to get some good ones finally!

Best friend wanted one for her son. This really isn't for Dallas. It was just a practice run for nothing! But Dallas was asleep and her son is about 14 months old, although I think it would fit.
Jessica, that is SOO cute!!! I love it! Great job, and thanks for the picture!

Oh gosh! We should get together while we are down in May, and put on our very own mermaid show!!!
Thanks!
Yes, let's! My mom e-mailed me and she said she didn't use a pattern for the tail. I guess I didn't realize that! I guess she just drew it out and made it. I do know there is stiff stuff in the bottom of the tail so she can flap it around. The pattern for the top is McCalls 4818.
Love the Mike costume and I am laughing thinking about an 18 month old toddling around in it. It will be so cute!

Ok, I know you all are sick of seeing her, but I finally got the cranky one to go get some more thread with me and I finished her outfit. Now that we have a proper custom Florida State outfit I am sure we will do much better than last week! This is totally cased from CastleCreation's cute froggy outfit, which I have been wanting to copy since I saw it. I hope this does it justice:

I've not really painted much, but I do know that in the acrylic paints, there is something called "textile medium". I think you mix it with acrylic paint and it is supposed to help it stick? That's all I know.

(still missing my sig pic...don't worry we didn't fall out the window :rotfl: )
I think today is the last day Target's machines are 25% off. I have the Singer Esteem. It is only $99 right now. They have more expensive models there too. I am a huge Singer fan.
IMHO- I would upgrade your sewing machine with a $200 model and buy the Singer Ultralock Serger from Walmart for $190. You spent $390 which is the cost of the brother disney machine. Two great machines for the price of one with mixed reviews!
Have lots of fun with your winnings! I too am always wrong when I bet the DH. Savor your victory!

How long have you been sewing? Why was I thinking you were fairly new to this? You do some FANTASTIC work! I really like this! And I LOOOVE crab! I can come and eat your share!
The short answer is July.
My Mom sewed all her clothes in high school. She graduated in 1971. She sewed for our home- curtains, pillows, a slip cover.
I made some curtains in high school. I also made handbags in college. Nothing fancy but I had fun making them. In March I started making clothes for my DD AG doll Kit. I made a Alice Costume in June for WDW. It was a hit in the park and I was so proud of myself.
When we got home I thought it would be fun to make Belle's blue dress. That is when I found this thread in July. I am hooked to say the least!:rotfl:

I've bought brushable fabric paint at JoAnns (Deco So Soft) but our local Wal Mart only seems to carry the puff paint. You might have better luck finding textile medium to mix with acrylic paints. The medium helps keep the paint soft on the fabric but it might not even be needed on shoes. I just bought a pair of white sneakers for Zoe to try. Since I doubt I'd wash the shoes, I'm not worried about the paint holding up for that although I could always touch up the paint if I do wash them. I just need to decide what to paint! So many ideas... so little closet space for all the shoes I COULD make.

My latest -- just need to hem it up to finish it creation. Nothing fancy!!!
I wanted to combine CARS and Thomas for my little guy's birthday in October.
Here is the shirt -- I just didn't feel like doing the hems yet (the sleeves are a *bit* long on him but since his birthday is toward the *end* of October I'm afraid to hem it up too much at the moment).

My next projects will be Halloween costumes :scared1: and then the High School Musical for on ice tour. Oh...and went to Back to School night last week for my grade schoolers & the 5th grade teacher said something about civilizations and they get to dress-up (so of course, my mind starting going...Hmmm...I could *make* something for that! :lmao: ) Plus my little guy wants me to make him a stuffed Annie & Clarabell to go with a stuffed Thomas he has (that was bought by Grandma). Who knows if I'll get these all done.

Okay, I have the patience of a 4 year old sometimes. About 30 minutes ago I asked about painting shoes and decided I was just going to use what was here and see what happened, so here they are. They are drying. Then I need to do his face, maybe with a sharpie?
http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s20/jessica52877/105_4062.jpg
I learned alot, like don't paint the other side while the first is wet and forget and stick your finger in it! And don't add something on that you didn't try. I did it on fabric first, never once putting fingers on the hands, then decided to add them, well I don't like them on any corner!
I just used some white acrylic paint I had here, so once it dries I'll see how they are. The shoe itself is pretty stiff so hopefully they'll hold for the MNSSHP and the pumpkin patch here and then christmas maybe!
Thanks for all your help. I guess walmart was not the place to be looking for fabric paint! I never thought of a fabric paint marker.

How did you get Cars & Thomas together? Are they iron-ons? Very cute idea!
I cut the circle Thomas out of this material (I made the shorts way earlier):
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a40/Beckymk/shorts001.jpg
Recently I had bought other Thomas fabric -- they have squares of Thomas on it but the squares were a bit too big to combine but I liked the RxR crossing sign and "Ticket to Ride" (since that seemed to go with both Cars & Thomas), so cut them out of that.
Then I used iron on stuff (ultrabond??? Heat & Bond? Lost the package a long time ago) It's on a roll & has a paper backing, you iron it on to the wrong side of the fabric, then peel the paper and iron-on the fabric to your outfit. Then I did the zig-zag stitch. If I'm understanding everything correctly that is what Appliquing is basically.

OT, but since we're friends, do any of you have DVC or are considering DVC?? Any tips or hints? You can PM me if you'd rather. Thanks I figure it's okay to ask here, because now that my DD is going to have so many customs, don't we need to go more than once a year???
DH and I are DVC members  It has really afforded us to be able to go more often and stay in better accommodations. We used to go several times a year and stay in value or moderates. It's not for everybody but it works for us. There are DVC boards on the DISboards and the folks on there are super nice and very helpful! :thumbsup2 One of the rules of thumb I often hear when it comes to advice on buying or not buying is the following...If you go to WDW at least every other year and stay in either moderate or deluxe resorts then DVC will save you money. If you ahve any specific questions feel free to PM me.

Terrie,
Your Golden Retriever is gorgeous! I remember you told me in a PM that you showed dogs and you came up to my area for a show. We have a Golden who is almost 2. My friend, who is big into dog shows around here, got her for me. She is related to the dog, Bailey, that does commercials, etc. Hmmm... you may know my friend.

Dreadful pictures of Kirsta. But here is her Tinkerbelle outfit. I think I should shorten the skirt so you can see the net. But that may have to come later as I've still tons of stuff to do. I was origionally attach the petals, but decided that I should have 2 looks. So I put the petals on a waistband. I used a purchased tank top.

When I used my mad math skillz to figure out how many panels (measure the bottom of the bodice, multiply by 2, then add a few more in for good measure) I thought maybe I made it too twirly. Then my good sense took over and I remembered that nothing is too twirly!
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e212/stephres/100_1785.jpg
And here is a close up of the appliqué:
psych! Who do you think I am: Tom? It looks ok from a little distance, and that's all I am saying!
Oh, I forgot to say that when I told her it was finished, Megan said, "Let me try it on and you go get the camera to take some pictures for Nanny and our friends." How's that for trained?

Too cute!!!! Love it! GO NOLES!!!! I wish I could get FSU fabric around here and/or ribbon to make bows...It's so pricey on "that" site and I know if I were in Tally again I could get it. I'm jealous and your daughter looks like a very bright girl ~ being a FSU fan!
GO NOLES!!! I love it. When I was very little we lived about 3 minutes from FSU!!! We even had a puppy named Nole.
Another talented and smart woman! :thumbsup2

I haven't read since last night but I absolutely had to share that I just finished my first applique! I am quite pleased with it and think it went well, other than the detail straight stitches. I kept the shape simple, which helped. I used all the tips I've read here and used bobbin thread, heat n' bond lite, and sulky, tear-away stabilizer. I did not use a pressing sheet because neither Joann's I went to seemed to carry it so I guess I'll order it. Anyway, here's the applique, I'll share the full dress later when I have a model for it. Although I like it, do any of you pros see something wrong that I need to do different next time?

Thank you! I'm sure I do. Bailey's owner Kathy lives near your area. Disney did a few commercials too (same agent as Bailey) but we were mostly too busy at dog shows to do many commercials. It is fun though! To keep it on topic...once I learn to sew I am also hoping to make Disney a cutom boutique dog bed...but then I'm sure the other seven will want one too :lmao:

I'm doing me a big-girl costume when I'm used to LITTLE patterns. Sheesh! It's a witch costume and I swear I will be wearing like 10 pounds of fabric...in 100% humidity POLYESTER :sad2:
ok, I LOVE diet Pepsi Max! It has almost 70 grams of caffeine (AIMEE!!!!!) compared to the 30 in regular diet pepsi. It reminds me of that scene in Meet the Robinsons with the caffeine patched lady..."I can stay awake for DAYS with NO side effects! SCREAM!" Which reminds me, I need to replenish my stash of "hootch" (my soda) before tomorrow so i don't have to shop on Sunday.
I can't wait to see your Tweedle Dee/Dum costumes! It made me chuckle because I was ALMOST the Queen of Hearts to Norah's Alice, but I couldn't convince my boys to be the late Rabbit and the Tweedles. My 18 year old graciously consented to being the opium smoking caterpillar (I dont THINK so son!)

OHH, you are making me cry with these pictures!!! What a sweet heart she is!!! Tell me, did you cry when she got her hair cut? When Arminda did this, I was crying like a baby! She had never had a real haircut before (other than a trim).
I think she looks wonderful with the shorter hair! Such a beauty, inside and out!
And, your baby is absolutely darling! Good job on the dress!
Thanks for your kind words, Teresa! I didn't cry, actually. I was so stinkin' proud of her I just grinned from ear to ear. I took pics of them measuring her hair and then of the first cut and, of course, of my Tabitha holding up her cut-off pony tail. We went to a kids' salon and they have a Locks of Love bulletin board and take their own before and after pics to put up on the board for all to see. I thought that was pretty neat.

All those angles on the crab would have scared me, but you did a great job! Keep watching Psych! (My friend is the creator and I love hearing when people like the show :yay: )
What a great compliment! You should be very proud :)
What a sweet DD you have! She looks so adorable with her new cut too! Love both the outfits!!!
Thank you!
I made this last night.

I think it looks great, not too busy at all! I'm with you on the rick rack and really like how you used it on the straps. I must remember to try that. I too fell in love with the Froggy outfit, I don't blame you for wanting to CASE it.

I like how it can have two different looks, I think that's a great idea!
You put my crab to shame!!! This is fantastic!!! I thnink I will try the bobbin thread. That is the only thing I did differently. Great work, you should be very proud!
Thank you! I was rather proud of myself :woohoo: :rotfl2: I thought your crab came out great! Especially when you take all those leg angles into account.
Very nice! Isn't it fun?! I'm loving it now that I've got all the good tools. I went to Hancocks today and picked up the Sulky stabilizer, bobbin thread, pressing sheet and lots of other goodies!! Funny thing is I spent $30 and didn't even buy fabric!
It was definitely fun, though I was rather nervous. Next up will be something with more pieces, but still large, I'm not ready for details!
I totally CASEd this from several of you, so I hope that's ok! I'm so excited, because it was my first time cutting into my Minnie dot. Ok, it was the Walmart knockoff, but still I swear I could hear the theme for JAWS as I was cutting it!

I too am a DVC member and LOVE it. Now since I do go so often is why I have to have the custom outfits!!! LOL
But seriously, it is a family investment I am glad we purchased for the many memories it creates.
We are DVC members and own at BWV. My daughter and I go 2x a year. She's 13 and always brings a friend. We leave for our trip the last day of school every year. Then we go again during Thanksgiving. My husband comes on one trip with us.

Of course it was to you! I am not ready for anyone to closely look at my appliqués! I am in awe of you and Aimee and others who have picked it up so quickly.
Actually, my parents live in Tallahassee and I have been bugging my mom for months about fabric and she says there is none there either. I don't know why you can get every other college except FSU: it's so annoying. I spent $12 on the seminole head fabric from Voldemort, so this outfit was probably more expensive than those overpriced cheerleading outfits they sell, but I think it was worth it.
Aimee, I grew up in Tallahassee: small world!

How clever! I love it. What pattern did you use for the skirt itself? I love the layered look of the lining, netting and then the print. I want to try something similar but havent figured out how just yet. I am still a newbie ;)
I used Simplicity 3836 for the skirt. And for the petals, I used Butterick 6660, but instead of putting the petals on a ribbon, I used the waistband from the Simplicity. I had enough green fabric left over, I think I might make her shorts to use to.

Really cute!
She is a stage ham. She did her recital in Ballet 2 years ago, and she keeps asking when she can get back on stage. Now she's in cheerleading, and loves to get in front of the crowd. Not that there is a huge crowd at midget football. I guess she's an actress in the making.

Thanks Lisa! My next goal is Daisy Duck since that would still deal with larger pieces. Glad you like Psych too! I agree on the actors, the two of them are hilarious. My friend is the creator, and also one of the writers, though he doesn't always do the writing. The theme song is his band The Friendly Indians so we never fast-forward the theme song like we do on most tv shows :) I rarely get to see him anymore as we don't live too close and he's busy working, but I'm so darn proud of him I hope he has great a good long career.

I know Heather would love to meet you guys too! We are going to have to plan something! Thanks for checking with your Mom about the pattern!
While I was reading the posts, my husband said, "Who is that little boy next to Lydia?" He was looking at YOUR avatar!!! No wonder I think Megan is SUCH a cutie!!!

You could NEVER post too many pictures of Megan!! Sucah a cutie pie! I love this outfit! Great job on it!
And, I love teh psych! My husband is always saying that!
And, Megan is so sweet for wanting to share the outfit with us right away!!
WOW! You have skills!

This is really cute!
Okay, I have the patience of a 4 year old sometimes. About 30 minutes ago I asked about painting shoes and decided I was just going to use what was here and see what happened, so here they are. They are drying. Then I need to do his face, maybe with a sharpie?
http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s20/jessica52877/th_105_4062.jpg
You are funny! These turned out really cute! There is a tutorial for painting shoes in the bookmarks. I haven't tried it myself though.
Ok I have given up on trying to get caught up. (I am still not caught up on the 23 pages from labor day now I am 11 more pages behind):sad2:
I skimmed some pictures, Tom the sailor set is adorable!
Teresajoy, mouse ear clippys are $6.50.
I spent the morning at a Doodlebop concert  and saw no customs  My DD wore her DeeDee Doodle last year, but I never had time to make one this year:rolleyes1. My DD did tell me she would like a new dress for NEXT year LOL.
Thanks for checking for me!!!!
Are Doodlebops as scarry in real life as they are on TV?
I just got back from Joann's and found this cute fabric. I bought 4 yards and don't know what I'm going to do with it yet. In the pic, it looks greenish, but it's blue.

This is SOOOOO cute!!! I love it!!! I want to try an Ariel inspired petal skirt. I have SO many things I want to do, I should get busy on them!

I totally CASEd this from several of you, so I hope that's ok! I'm so excited, because it was my first time cutting into my Minnie dot. Ok, it was the Walmart knockoff, but still I swear I could hear the theme for JAWS as I was cutting it!

Not quite sure which picture I had on there last but thanks!! I have already shared the pic of her preschool dress but here she is on her very first day (Thursday).
With her cousin Catherine on their 1st day of preschool.

FYI...ever since the day I finished this dress, she has had to wear it EVERYDAY. She wore this dress 8 days straight (I had to sneak and wash it several times)!!!!! She looooooves it that much! I'm about finished with another one so people will know she owns different clothes!
Aww, they are so cute!!
That is pretty neat! They didn't have anything special when Arminda did it. They weren't even going to measure it before they cut, but I insisted they get out a ruler or something! I didn't want them cutting anymore than they had to!
Just wanted to share pictures of the painted Cinderella overalls I won last year on Voldemort for 20 bucks. They are faded in spots, but still cute. I think I will re do the ruffle at the bottom to make them look newer as well.

The trim at the bottom is a kind of taffeta fabric I think with raised, velvety feeling stripes. It's very cool - I found it in the remnants at JoAnn a while back and had to have it!
Hehe, I was going to ask what kind of fabric that was at the bottom! How did you know? I love that! I am very partial to animal prints, becasue Lydia LOVES them! Which reminds me, that's another outfit I need to make!!
But, we don't leave until May, so I have some time!
And, I didn't know they made CHERRY Coke Zero!!!!!! Thanks for the hedsup on that one!

Keep watching Psych! (My friend is the creator and I love hearing when people like the show :yay: )
OT - but Psych is one of my favorites!! No matter how much studying I have to do for Saturday classes, I always stop to watch it. The one a week or two ago where the guys "mistook" the police dog's obit for Det. Lassiter's had me laughing so hard I was crying :lmao: . The DVR got a workout that night replaying the sceen over and over...

You could come over my way, we have an amusement park of sorts here w/ an underwater theatre w/ real live mermaids. DH and I always tell ppl we live in the coolest place there are no less than 6 close-to life size dinosaurs (don't ask me why, they're all in various locations around the county and range from one that holds a mechanic's garage inside of it to an unfinished giant topiary-the guy died before it was done.) and we have real mermaids. How freakin' cool.

Also, I got the fabric ans supplies to make DW's and my Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum costumes. I have never done anything adult sized. We shall see how this goes! It should be easier though, no "little" parts and pieces to stitch together!

Oh MY GOSH! You did an amazing job! I just did my first try at a satin stitch today (the Hannah top I posted - I did the heart) on a T shirt. It was so frustrating! The T kept stretching and messing up the stitches. I did all the things you did - with the exception of the embroidery thread. I am wondering if the presser foot it too "tight" to the feeding teeth. It turned out Ok - but looks nothing like yours. I am so impressed!

How do you all wash appliqued clothes that has some hand work done? Inside out? Hand wash? Gentle cycle? All by themselves? I do have a front loading machine? All the above? I just don't want to mess anything up?:laundy:

I of course had to make the girls outfits to support the school and football team which one there home opener! WOO HOO!

Oh, these kids are so cute I just want to pinch their cheeks! I love the outfits, I really like that style of skirt. Sigh, another pattern I must go buy!

This is Alexis's Halloween costume. She finally decided on being Raggedy Ann!
That is adorable! So much nicer than the one I got Megan from the party store when she was 2. If only I had met you guys earlier!
Well, since I'm still pinning on skirt ruffle and I swore I'd have this done 2 weekends ago, I thought I'd share the AK bodice w/ my FIRST EVER applique. It's not great. Heck it's not even that good, but she's wearin' it anyway darn it. I have to add a polkadot ribbon to the minnie head. the polkadot fabric is on the skirt ruffle too. Keep in mind that I scanned this into the computer so the fabric looks a little weird.

Sorry about the football thing, raised and bred Seminole fan I'm afraid. I would have to say that their colors are so much more prettier than the Gators' orange and blue (but of course, what can you expect from a girls' school?).
I love the start on the bodice: I think it looks really good. Let me know if you need more animal print; I don't need much of an excuse to go back to that quilt shop!
I know I showed you all a few pictures of these outfits in progress - but I thought I would show some of the finished product. Thanks for looking!

Are those yellow mickey head buttons I see? Those are totally cute and I love the way the Hannah Montana one came out. I bet she'll never want to take it off!
Ok, here is how silly I am. I had all those leftovers from Megan's FSU outfit so I decided to make myself a skirt. I took some old jeans that were a little tight in the butt and cut them off. It looks pretty silly, but I'll post pictures anyway when I'm done so ya'll can laugh at me.

Both of these turned out great! The basic t-shirt is so pretty with the lace...did you do that too?
The tshirt is from Walmart and the lace was already on there.
Just wanted to share pictures of the painted Cinderella overalls I won last year on Voldemort for 20 bucks. They are faded in spots, but still cute. I think I will re do the ruffle at the bottom to make them look newer as well.
Those are beautiful! Make sure you post pics of the renewed version!

Thanks so much - the bodice is McCall's M5370, but I lengthened it a bit to allow for a Mickey Head. The skirt is just strips about 4 inches wide.
Thanks!! The giraffe print is from Hobby Lobby, but I did buy it a few months ago.
How cute are they? Great job on the outfits! I promised DH that the next thing I make would be Green Bay outfits for the kidlets. I'll have to start on those soon!
Glorib where are you from? GO PACKERS! They actually won today! If you need help finding fabric for the outfits let me know, it's all over in Green Bay. We even have Packer jibbitz in the store.

I'd tell you why fabric is in such short supply but my Hurricanes didn't do so well against the Sooners - So I won't! :) My husband who is an FSU fan thought the outfit was ADORABLE !
Good morning! I stayed up entirely too late (with the aid of a little cherry coke zero) to finish this little AK outfitfor DD.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y237/lorib587/safari.jpg
The trim at the bottom is a kind of taffeta fabric I think with raised, velvety feeling stripes. It's very cool - I found it in the remnants at JoAnn a while back and had to have it!
HOW CUTE!!! I love it! :)
Real quick her is the mermaid costume. We leave in 26 minutes so I gotta run!

Thanks but I hate to say it was not a marathon. Total I think I spent about six hours on the costume. I was rushed so it is not technically perfect. I cut a lot of corners but it got the job done.
Hannah won the Grand Prize! I was stunned. There was a really cute pirate. He had a great shot.
Congrats to Hannah!

Here is my DD modeling her halloween outfit for out Royal Caribbean Cruise. It's for dinner before she changes into her costume (which she hasn't decided on) this isn't done yet - I have to add straps (I pinned the elastic to it tonight) and hem the skirt... oh yeah and add ruffles to some khakis for her.
Please excuse the dora pj shirt and striped pj pants - this is what she chose!

We're off to the World for a short weekend in 12 days! DD5 think's we'll never get there!
Skirts are done, need to decide on the tops:
I'm a quilter, I like patchwork. She likes long skirts (this goes to mid-shin). We like the red top with it, so I need to work with that and ditch the white I was planning on. 2.25 yards of fabric, 1/2 spool of thread, and since this is the second, I'm dying for my gathering foot to come in.
http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd38/dsdno6/MickeyTwirl2nofacereduced.jpg
The first skirt. It was the prototype. About 18 fabrics in this one! I mentioned I'm a quilter, right? Well, I made her a quilt for Christmas last year. Pink, as requested. And as I was looking for fabrics to make a demo skirt out of, I decided if I liked them together for a quilt they'd look good in a skirt. How many girls match their bedding completely? And it's been worn every weekend for the past month, so I know I have a hit. It will be worn with either this top or a hot pink tank.
http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd38/dsdno6/PinkTwirl1nofacereduced2.jpg
And the last: I'm applique-ing a striped Mickey to the bodice of this. Not so much of a hit, as I've got a girl who likes skirts, and full skirts at that.

I was there buying fabric for a blanket I'm planning on making. Our Joanns hardly has any princess fabric. It's all flannel. Do you think that will be ok for a blanket? Flannel?
Hey Disney4Me,

Thanks for the offer. I'm always looking for regular cotton princess fabric. Our JoAnn's only has flannel. I'm wanting to make a patchwork-type blanket similar to some posted recently. I was hoping to use cotton, but had to go with flannel. I'm thinking of doing a plain flannel bottom, batting middle, flannel patchwork top and wanted to know if that would work, using flannel. I've never done a blanket. As always, I have no pattern to follow. Just make it up as I go along. But I don't want to start this blanket if flannel isn't the way to go.
Our JoAnn's does have princess fleece, which I also might buy and just sew the edges, maybe use a satin-type binding, to create blankets. I'm thinking those would be similar to the ones at DisneyShopping.com. Quick and easy. My kids are always complaining they are cold so we can use more blankets.
So, to finally getting around to answering your question, I don't need any fleece, but thank you for asking.

My middle name is Zandra but I use it almost exclusively now and have for the last 14 years. So my username is always my first and middle name because I know it won't be taken on any site!

You can definitely use flannel for the blankets. You could make a rag-quilt with the flannel, then you don't have to bind the edges, since you want them to have the fray look. If you want to see of pic of this let me know and I'll post one, not Disney though. Rag-quilts are easy to make, just some patience to cut all the edges to make it fray.

If it's not too much trouble, please post a pic of a rag quilt. I bought 5 different princess fabrics for the patchwork part, a purple fabric for the back of the blanket, and a pink fabric for around the edges of the purple and the patchwork. I hope that makes sense!
I haven't bought any fleece yet for the other blankets I'm thinking of making.

(I have some pictures of our last trip there, I should find them and amuse everyone with my ultimate 14 year old coolness! My Dad scuba dived in their few years ago, Mom took a video of it, it's pertty cool. (Did you see my previous post about practicing to be a mermaid??)
A giant topiary dinosaur? I haven't seen that one! We have GOT to all meet up!
WOOO HOOO HANNAH!!!! That is fantastic!!!!!! We REALLY need to see some pictures of her in it though!!!

This is Alexis's Halloween costume. She finally decided on being Raggedy Ann!
Oh, Alexis is an ADORABLE Raggedy Ann! You got a great deal on that costume!

You should stop going out looking for mermaids and get sewing! This is looking really cute!
I know I showed you all a few pictures of these outfits in progress - but I thought I would show some of the finished product. Thanks for looking!

Is this the shirt you dyed? The outfit turned out great!
Stephres-
I love your Seminole outfit!!!!!!
GO NOLES!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
Everybody else...yours are great, too!
Ok, nobody every said I was reall quick! I was trying to figure out what kind of animal a NOLE was! I thought it might be like a vole. I use to be smart before I had kids. :confused3
Oh, these kids are so cute I just want to pinch their cheeks! I love the outfits, I really like that style of skirt. Sigh, another pattern I must go buy!
That is adorable! So much nicer than the one I got Megan from the party store when she was 2. If only I had met you guys earlier!
Can't wait to see it!
Does anyone have the link for the Corset top instructions that LisaZoe gave? I quickly searched through the bookmarks at the beginning and did not see it. Thanks!
Jill
It's there, under tops, it's listed as LisaZoes Corset directions. The faux lacing directions are in the embellishments sections.
ETA: Actually, I put the faux lacing directions in the tops section so it would be easier to find.
She loves it and it's a size 2, ahem, did I mention that she's a size 5. She has to suck in all of the air in her head to get it on...:rotfl:
Poor thing...but she really wanted it.
That is hilarious!!!!!!!
Dont forget to get this pic of our kiddie with their customs with Minnies sewing machine

That's a great idea!
A princess courtsey as she called it....
http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/54/ED/91/i54ED9197-C8D5-48E0-A410-18F265FF4535.jpg
And for good measure you're daily dose of cuteness.... my 17 month old has figured out how to climb on chairs... this is where I found him!
http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/0F/C4/CB/i0FC4CB0D-AAB3-477E-8F66-F51B6B0418ED.jpg
I LOOVE the curtsey!! And, your son is too cute!!! Sawyer, my 14 (almost 15)month old nephew (hkite's little one) learned to open my Mom's front door today! Poor Heather!
2.25 yards of fabric, 1/2 spool of thread, and since this is the second, I'm dying for my gathering foot to come in.

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd38/dsdno6/th_PinkTwirl1nofacereduced2.jpg
And the last: I'm applique-ing a striped Mickey to the bodice of this. Not so much of a hit, as I've got a girl who likes skirts, and full skirts at that.

Great outfit!!! I love the appliques!
LOL Trust me when I say I've been called that more than a few times in my life :) My first name is Tara after the plantation in Gone With the Wind (my sister is Ashley, also from Gone With the Wind). My middle name is Zandra but I use it almost exclusively now and have for the last 14 years. So my username is always my first and middle name because I know it won't be taken on any site!
I always wanted to name a child Tara, I loved reading Gone With the Wind! As a teenager, I even thought of naming a boy Ashley. I also thought of naming a boy Ponyboy and Sodapop, but that's a different book. :rotfl:
Is this in Minnies house in Toontown? I will definately try to get there and take a picture of DD.
Yep, that's Minnie's house! My girls always have me take their picture at the sewing machine when we go in there! Corey too!

I'm ba-a-a-a-a-ck!!!
I missed you and all your creations while I was gone. I wish I could say I am all rested up from our trip to Washington DC, but I'm more tired now then I was when I left! WE did have a good time and I learned a few things.....
1. Washington DC in Septmember is unbearably HOT and HUMID!
2. When I'm tired, I can sleep ANYWHERE, including a haunted hotel and possibly even while standing!! LOL!
3. I may be a redneck at heart. We went to a NASCAR race while we were there and while there is a high "hassle factor" in going to them, I LOVED IT! We had such a great time.... and it was cool to see the engines blow up and cars catch on fire (oh my...... what is happening to me?)
4. Last, but certainly not least...... Busch Graden Williamsburg is NO WDW!!
I can see already that I will have LOTS to comment on, so I'm gonna work my way backwards on stuff. Let me just start by saying that No one disappointed me here! You guys always surprise with your creativity and abililities! So.... without further adieu (sp???)...

You have to or you cannot be a very good artist. I am one of those distracted my shinning objects people- so glitter and trim always catch my eye.:rotfl:
Because of all the encouragement I have deceided to start a very small costume line. I am very excited and I am working on my first plan. Hannah will be thrilled with the "samples." I will let everyone know in a bit what my idea is.
I just have to figure out what DHs plan is this week. He is Jewish and Rosh Hoshanna is this week. He told my MIL he was not taking off from work and we (I) was not making dinner. Well to say the least all h*ll broke loose. I may be cleaning and cooking for my inlaws all week.

It is still very cute, but I can't believe it wasn't handmade! It looks great. What has Ireland decided to be ths year?
Ireland is going to be a 50s style waitress. I have everything done except for the name tag, and the buttons on the shirt. And yes ladies and gentlemen, I made a shirt with sleeves, and a collar and buttons. Can you believe it! It wasn't even hard! I will post photos soon. I might put the buttons on today..

Too many projects!

This is one made with home spun fabric (I think you can only get this at quilt shops but it shows the x and edges well.)
http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa119/princesssfws/disboutique045.jpg
To make one you cut all your fabric (front and back) into 6" squares and your batting into 5 1/2" squares. Then you make 'sandwiches'. Back fabric, batting, front fabric make a big X in the middle. Then arrange all your sandwiches into rows and columns, whatever dimensions you want. Then you sew them together. I do all my across rows and then join them. Kind of like making a patchwork twirl skirt. But the hem is on the outside and then you make small cuts to make it fray. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Good morning! I stayed up entirely too late (with the aid of a little cherry coke zero) to finish this little AK outfitfor DD.

The trim at the bottom is a kind of taffeta fabric I think with raised, velvety feeling stripes. It's very cool - I found it in the remnants at JoAnn a while back and had to have it!
Love the color combo!
This is so something my kids would volunteer for! Heck.... after my "vacation" and that trip to Busch Gardens... I might just volunteer for it myself!! :rotfl2:
Well I got the fabric and supplies to make DD's Alice costume today.
Also, I got the fabric ans supplies to make DW's and my Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum costumes. I have never done anything adult sized. We shall see how this goes! It should be easier though, no "little" parts and pieces to stitch together!
Must see the fam in their costumes before you leave!! I think you're going during the same time we are- I'll keep my eyes out for you.

I just got back from a trip to Chicago. I can't believe how many pages have went by since I checked the boards! I'm not even going to attempt to read them all, but I'm going to check out our photobucket site to see what you all have created! I keep hearing that aimeeg has really went to town since I've been gone!
I just wanted to post to let everyone know I am fine. There were a few that were concerned because I haven't posted in so long. I was flattered that anyone noticed I was gone!
I made Tessa a My Little Pony outfit before I left and I'll post pictures of it as soon as I get it ironed (gotta love that 100% cotton fabric). I even hand washed the darn thing- I never hand wash!!

We have surprised our kids not once but twice for Disney. Can yo believe they fell for it 2 times? Once we told them we were going camping, and they didn't figure it out until we drove under the "Walt disney World" sign. That was their first time camping there. The second time we just picked them up from school and had the camper all packed. I made them search a words, and crosswords and they had to figure out where we were going. The search a word had hidden rides names in it, the crossword puzzle had various questions, but each answer had one big block, once all of the answers were filled in, he had to write all of the letters in the big blocks at the bottom of the page, it spelled out "We're going to Disney World." It's the most creative thing I've ever done. I saved it to scrapbook one day.

You can tell who hangs on disboards by what the kids wear! I think I saw four customs the whole week we were there, and some disdesigns t-shirts. I asked if they were on disboards, most claimed to be lurkers. So if your a lurker, HI!! and post those too cute pics!

My parents almost named me Tara after GWTW. I have a friend who named her daugter Katie Scarlet.

Here's what I created before I left for Chicago. Tessa picked out the fabrics, the thread for the applique, and the pony fabric (it's Starcatcher for all you Non-Pony fans). I probably wouldn't have used the 90's-esque pink and purple fabric, but she loves it and I think it turned out all right. I made my own pattern for the top! :)
She plans to wear it to Downtown Disney when she gets the "Box Full 'o Ponies".

Okay. I need to learn how to applique. That Boo and Monsters logo look fantastic!!!
On to other things - I need advice. I am making my son a Woody costume, but, of course, the yellow and red plaid fabric apparently does not exist. Even on Voldemort. SO. Should I just buy yellow and a red fabric marker? Will that work? I can wait until after I cut the pieces to draw the lines, right?
I really just want to find a piece of the fabric. But I think (after this much searching) that if I did it would be prohibitively expensive.
I need to post a pic of the patchwork twirl I made for my daughter on Saturday. Not disney, but still cute, in a hippie-ish sort of way.

When we travel with tutus, I pack them in a ziploc bag, squeeze all the air out, and when we get there I use a hair dryer to fluff it back up. It works like a charm! I don't get the dryer real close to the tulle, just sorta under it, blowing up into the layers of tulle. I fun my fingers through it at the same time. I'e never tried an iron.

We did Woody two years ago and this was my solution, a sharpie and a shirt. Turned out perfect and to this day it looks like this still. I have it hanging in his room. Hmm, should have taken a picture of that so you could see better. It never bled or anything. I know i washed it once for sure, not positive if ever again. This was a simple costume, since making the vest and bandana didn't take too long and we wore regular jeans.

Okay, I am a lurker and an occasional commenter but now I want to post pictures. I finally figured out what the problem was with photobucket (for others having this problem, if you have norton on your computer it won't let you log on to photobucket for some reason, so you have to disable norton - I usually set it to disable for 30 minutes - and then log on). I am now ready to post pictures if someone will tell me how. I asked a while ago but now I can't find the instructions and 800+ pages is too much for me to go through! Thanks for all of your help!

I know that tulle can melt easily. So for my DD dance recital she had a tulle skirt. We just streamed it in the bathroom. We put it the room and turned on the shower. Then after a few mins I could literally pull on it gently and all the wrinks feel right out.

Wow, aimeeg, that mermaid costume! It's even better on! No surprise she won the grand prize!
Ok, I was going to wait until I had the whole outfit done - but, well, I can't - I just have to share because I'm so excited! I'm making a Monsters, Inc. outfit for DD - and I have the t-shirt finished. It's the first character I've appliqued. Don't think I'll be doing any princesses any time soon, but I do have to do Mike and Sully for the skirt. Boo went ok - not great, but ok, so we'll see how the other two go. Anyway, here she is. . .

Here's a few pics from our photopass, I still need to go through and delete all the bad ones from the camera.... I've flipped all these photos in photobucket, but they have a mind of their own. Now they decide to behave.....

At Pirate and Princess Party I forgot to mention the hook. Suddenly she wanted to be captain Hook, so Daddy made her hook, from the top of a hanger in the closet, a plastic cup, note paper, sharpie, clothes pin, and tape. She never put it down, she carried her little loot bag on it, and would hold it up at the treasure spots!
http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb221/karrierock/Disney%20World/DisneyPhotoImage2.jpg
Her Epcot outfit, that hardly anybody saw, it rained alot, so she went barefoot, and was covered in a poncho in the stroller, so much for the shoes! Note my skirt I made it at the last minute, I got lots of attention too. Someone even offered to buy it off of me. Sorry, I need some sort of bottoms for the day.!

Love all of the outfits you've all created. The mermaid is unbelievable! I can't believe you've only been sewing for 3 months!
Did anybody answer you yet? Now that you have them loaded onto photobucket all you have to do is take the IMG code that shows up under the picture and when you are in post reply just paste the code into your post. You're almost there

Looks great! Looking forward to the finished product!
Love them! Love how the Hannah turned out!
Thanks so much! It is not perfect - but DD says it is her favorite so far - I think it has more to do with Hannah than my sewing ability! LOL!
Yes ;) they are Mickey buttons you see! Thanks! She does love the Hannah outfit! Can't wait to see your skirt!
Those are cute. I think the HM top turned out very nice, is that the one you dyed?
Thanks! I ended up finding this tye dye top in a bag of summer clothes for DD so I just went with it.
Thanks everyone for your compliments. but I didn't make the Raggedy ann, bought it at the party store for 25 dollars. LOL...I couldn't even buy the trim for that much. She loves it and it's a size 2, ahem, did I mention that she's a size 5. She has to suck in all of the air in her head to get it on...:rotfl:
Poor thing...but she really wanted it.
What a deal! I would buy it too!

Love it! The Dora PJ's go great with it!;) Your DS is too cute!
2.25 yards of fabric, 1/2 spool of thread, and since this is the second, I'm dying for my gathering foot to come in.

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd38/dsdno6/th_PinkTwirl1nofacereduced2.jpg
And the last: I'm applique-ing a striped Mickey to the bodice of this. Not so much of a hit, as I've got a girl who likes skirts, and full skirts at that.

Great job Deb! The time will fly by if you are trying to finish outfits!!! LOL!
Hi all we are off to start our holiday from Australia in 15 more sleeps and will be in WDW in 25 more sleeps so am trying to finish of the outfits I with the help of my DM and DMIL. This is the first one. My DM did most of this and I thankyou for the person who originally inspired this for me I think they had Alice on theres. I know my stuff will never be as great as the things lots of you make but I think she looks pretty good in this. Thanks for all your help and tips.

Nope - I found this one in a bag of summer clothes I had stored in Emma's room.
I'm ba-a-a-a-a-ck!!!
Very nice work. I just love your DD's hair cut- it looks so adorable on her. She has a very sweet look about her.
Welcome back! Thanks for saying that about DD - she is really loving her hair.
I have been meaning to tell you just how cute this turned out!!! I really love it. The purple is perfect and I think it looks better than a darker would.
I love the yellow mickey heads. They are too cute!!!
Great Job!!!
THANKS!!! DD loves it too!

I am so impressed! You did a really great job!

How cute! I bet DD is in LOVE with it!
Guess what happens when you have all the suitcases unpacked and all the laundry done?:confused3
ALL of the customs don't FIT in the closet!!!!!:scared1:
And I haven't started the holiday outfits yet. :cool2: (But I have lots of fabric and ideas for them)
Soooo I guess I am going to have to take the gymboree stuff out that DD doesn't wear anymore to make more room :lmao:
ROFL!!!
I want to use it just for the steam setting, you know hang the skirt and just steam around it. Also need it for cotton. Thanks to all who replied. I am such a nervous wreck right now. I HATE to fly but I LOVE Disney so.... we fly.
I am a nervous flyer too - which doesn't work well for DH since he is a pilot. He tells me I'm not allowed to be a nervous flyer - and shakes his head at me when I close my eyes and grip the armrest in flight!

KARRIEROCK Your pictures are AWESOME By the way, loved that you added the children around the world to your skirt.
Thanks! We had a few good photopass guys! The skirt was simple, I bought it on clearance at Kohls $9, (it's sort of hard to tell in pic, but there's a solid white band at the bottom, the rest is white, with white textured polka dots) I already had the fabric, so I cut them out, ironed to wonder under, ironed to skirt, then single stitched around each one. I then washed it to give them a slight frayed look. I used all the faces in the fabric except two I think. Just didn't fit.;)

We aren't used to that Florida heat so I tried to have customs made that would be very comfy and cool. Some aren't very original, but I thought with the bows and accessories they came together nicely.
Avery got to ride with Goofy on Barnstormer (Jack declined). When we were leaving Animal Kingdom we stopped by the Character Photo spot with Winnie the Poo and Friends. We were the only ones there so we got a few family pics with all of the characters together!

Too many projects!
Rag quilts are my fave! I posted one a few pages back it's in "gator"...
BG Williamsburg is a TON of uphill walking - we went and my husband and fil try to take us on this short cut..which consisted of straight stairs up the side of what seemed like a mountain. Nascar is addicting btw... :)
Here is a pic of the flannel rag quilt. The front:

The back:

Hi neighbor. Where in KC are you? I'm in South OP.
Love your rag quilt - my next is a curious george one! Can I suggest the fiskars rag quilt scissors? They are so much easier than regualr scissors!
Anyway, here she is. . .

That's a super job on your applique! Don't give up, Mike & Sully should be much easier!

She's such a cutie! And that's a super applique! That skirt is adorable, was it complicated? I'm scared to try one!

I don't know if you noticed, but I used this outfit as inspiration for one I made. Yours is my favorite Tink outfit ever! I love all your pics, so keep 'em coming!
BTW, when are we getting together? Maybe you can teach me how to use a stinking pattern! :rotfl: Wait, that wasn't a joke, I was serious ;)

I love these pics! I have one of my girls on the monorail the first time we went and they could see the castle in the distance. It's one of my favorite pics. Did you make the Cinderella dress?

Thank you! I thought this was going to be the solution. I made a t-shirt for my daughter with sharpies once - bled like crazy, so I guess I will just get a fabric marker.
So, here is the skirt I made her. It didn't turn out as well as I thought it would. But she likes it and insisted on wearing it to church yesterday. It is cords and some sueded poly.

I love this skirt! It would be a great start of school skirt!

That is too cute! What a good daddy!

I love your skirt!!! You guys look so cute!

Here's Wendy checking out DD outfit. She got tons of attention this day! She was showing Wendy her brothers on her necklace.
I love this picture! How precious!

The highlight of her trip, I have video of her jumping up and down, screaming, ANNIE ANNIE ANNIE, as they walked to the photo spot!
Doesn't that just make it all SO worth it! I love the tutu too!

Your daughter looks so pretty with her BBB makeover that I got all teary eyed!
YES, you guys ARE stinkin cute!!!! I love seeing everyone's pictures!
Here are a few from our trip :)
I haven't even touched the Photopass yet...

I think the pink & purple is perfect. Where did you get the skirt pattern? I've seen them before, but I've never seen a pattern for one.
.
There are a few places that sell them. I know YCMT has one. They are called spiral or redondo skirts. If you do a search, you will probably find it. There are directions for some in the bookmarks section as well, but I don't know how clear they are. In the bookmark for the flounce, you can see the pattern for this pretty clearly, if you are good at this sort of thing, it probably wouldn't be too hard to enlarge it and use it for a pattern.

This was a bit of a challenge for a beginner but it came out fairly well. The seam ripper and I got very close. And I am convinced the Ruffler foot has it out for me; the thing kept jamming but I figured out that I needed to say a little prayer with each stitch and it behaved a bit better.
It is not Disney but I think DD will wear it to AK in just 10 days!

I'm so far behind I couldn't possibly quote everyone, but EVERYTHING posted is great!!
It's gorgeous!! I hope you have a wonderful trip :)

Amazing! It looks just like Boo. Fantastic job!
Great tip. Thanks!

It's pretty and I like the color combinations. Did you say you were a beginner? If so, it sure doesn't look like it.
Here's a few pics from our photopass, I still need to go through and delete all the bad ones from the camera.... I've flipped all these photos in photobucket, but they have a mind of their own. Now they decide to behave.....
She's adorable and looks so cute in all of her customs. I like your skirt too.

dance! :scared1: on the veil! What did you do?
Cried...alot. She was all set to try to buy me another one 1 hr before the ceremony, but there was nowhere nearby and mine was ordered to match the dress so it would have been hard ot replace. And then I saw that it was on the second layer, and was covered a bit by the top layer when it was pulled back....so it was OK in the end. There is a picture of her 'fixing my veil' on my head that the photographer insisted on taking. Now I laugh when I look at it, but at the time I was still pretty upset.
