Here is my latest twirl skirt. This is from the sock monkey fabric. My mom *forced* me to go to the quilt fabric shop. They have "charm packs" where the fabric is already cut into 5x5 squares so that made this a little easier, plus the better fabric is so much nicer to sew with.

SEW....I am in LOVE with this!!! I am thinking since it is pre cut and monkeys, it might make me brave enough to try a patchwork outfit!!!

I don't have anything like this available to me...anyone want to make an extra "forced" trip to get me some of that fabulous fabric????

I love this idea! My mom used to do this triangle trim as binding on baby quilts for us and the grandkids. I will have to CASE it for sentimental value!

Oh my goodness! This is just absolutely darling! Love the fabric and LOVE the triangles at the bottom.

OK, lets see, for my 2 boys ages 7 and 9 I'm using McCall's M5229 (with the hood), and for my dd3 McCalls M5223 with a separate hat. For me and DH, McCalls 9581 with Hood for me without for him. My DS 18 doesn't know (yet).

I'm making mine a few inches longer to cover my danger zone...:rolleyes1

The Chip and Dale twirl skirt attached to the bib sounds so cute!!! Pictures!

Danger zone! :rotfl2: I'm crackying up! I think I need a full-body hoodie. Like those crazy pjs that Oprah had on her show a few years ago.

I'll definitely be posting pics of chip and dale - It's still in the planning phase, though, the only thing I've done is cut the skirt off of the o'alls! Hopefully by the end of the week!

Oh My - I love the triangular ruffle thingy-ma-bobber... how in the world did you do that???

Thank you everyone for your sweet comments about the sock monkey skirt. I wasn't going to do the triangle "ruffle" at first because I thought it would be too much work but it wasn't hard at all and I didn't have to hem the bottom:woohoo: (I HATE to hem).

The triangles are called "Praire Pointes", or so I am told by my quilter mom. All you do is take a square, fold it on the diagonal and then fold it again. Voila, a Praire Pointe. I added mine after I did all the tiers but it might be easier to do it before, but it was not hard after.
Here are a couple of pics to help with the folds, although I think you all could figure it out.

How about I just buy them, then you can be the only ones in town with them! No, I don't crochet but I would love to see pictures of them. They sound really neat! Does she take internet orders?

I should have read this before I asked about the YCMT pattern. I agree - can I just buy them? Would you PM me, please?

I thought I'd look at the crochet pattern and maybe give it a go, but who am I kidding? I've got enough on my plate without learning yet another craft. I want the cuffs, but I don't want to make them. Can someone that can help me please send me a PM?

Ok, I'm going waaay outta my comfort zone & attempting to post photos of some of my "creations". Why do I all of a sudden have images of a mad scientist cackling?! lol! These are for all those that requested....

This is the Mickey quilt I made for our plane ride to Disneyland. I don't have a full photo of it, I guess I'll have to retake one later. I made the Wilton Mickey cookies on a stick, dipped the ears in chocolate for my 2 DS the night before we left....that's the goob that they're holding in the photo, anyway.....

Is the suspense killin' you? Well, apparently y'all have to wait because my posts are too low to put in links or photos just yet. sorry

You only need 10 posts to post pictures. Go ahead and do a count down of posts, we really don't mind! We just want those pictures !

I am NOT making it smaller! I am SOOO in love with this skirt!!! I love your ruffle alternative!!!! That is so clever! What gave you the idea to do that? I know if I ever get around to making a patchwork skirt, I am SOOO CASEING that !!!

I decided what to do with my Osh Kosh overall bodice thingie!!!!

I cut off the skirt that was way too short, and am fixing to make a twirl skirt bottom and attach...BUT! The seams will be to the OUTSIDE!!!! I'll overcast to prevent too much unraveling, but I think it'll be adorable. At least it sounds good in my head.

Hey, it sounds good in my head too! So, it must be GRRRRRRRRRRREAT!!! (Yah know if we are BOTH thinking it and all!)

I'll try to get back to you guys before I leave friday...hopefully w/ a finished piece or 2...if I come to work tomorrow I will TOTALLY be here. But I might try to beg off to do my sewing;)

You have a sewing machine at home now, when are you getting a computer? ;)

Hey Jill! Great to see you back! I can't wait to see more of your pictures !

Welcome! (pretend I'm not too lazy to look for it, and insert fancy Welcome smiley here). Please share some of your creations !

Well, I didn't know about this policy until we started taking Lamaze classes, right at the end of my pregnancy! UGGH! It was H O R R I B L E!!!!!! The absolute WORST 36 hours of my life!!! The second he was born though, it was the BEST time of my life!!! But, I am not one of those "Oh once they place that baby in your arms you forget all about the pain" kind of people. Even now, 15+ years later, I shudder at the thought of the horrible-unbearable-almost-inhuman amount of pain I went through!

OHHH BEAUTIFUL Kitty!!!!!! Cats Rule Dogs Drool!

hehe, that was me! I'm glad you posted it!!! I knew everyone here would love to see it!!! It is just amazing!!! Do you have any idea how many inches of rhinestones you used for this? I saw some cheap ones at Walmart (plastic), and while it wouldn't look as fabulous as yours, it might be within my price range!

Such sweet looking pets everyone has!

Now, that's my kind of boy!!!
Your kids look so cute!

You should try a twirl skirt or a pillowcase dress! You can do it, we will help you out!

Aww, Tiffany was a beautiful cat! Even my Mom loved her!

Our brother's dog is one of the world's worst dogs! He is awful. But, my SIL law loves the stupid thing. So, they keep him, and my poor neice will bare the scars. (OOOH, it makes me so mad!)

Aww, very cute!!!

Are you talking about a bib (around the neck), or bib overalls? I thought I'd seen an online pattern for adult bibs. I will try and check. I have some things like that in my charity section of the bookmarks. But, I'm not sure if I have a bib one there or not.

Aww, WE knew Tom!

WOW! THAT is a BIG dog!!!!

Hi - Yes, I am talking about a Bib bib, not bib overalls - lol!!! Thanks!!

I was just thinking about you! I'm glad you have a good time and I can't wait to see the rest of the outfits (that got worn). I had a question about those little furry cuffs your daughter wore I think with a Halloween outfit. Do you think I could wrap a boa around elastic and make them that way? I was thinking about easy way to slide them on and off. How were yours made? Thanks and welcome back!
The ones I had were crochet, but they weren't super stretchy. I purchased them from :wizard: and they were made to fit DD's wrist. Hobby Lobby has some that are the marbou if you are interested. I think they were around $4 a pair.

Yes, I know "fabric row"! The exact address is between 10795-10901 Harry Hines Blvd, Dallas TX. I got familar with that area real quick after we moved here. It's actually several warehouse facilities that sell both wholesale & to the public at great rates. The 1st trip can be overwhelming, because the places are gigantic with room after rooms of bolts & notions. I feel light headed & giddy, just thinking about it. :hyper: :faint:

Have to be careful & prepared when you go, because it's deep discounts & sometimes discontinued fabrics. So know exactly how much of what, in what color, style you're looking for. It would be impossible to go back & ever find the same material again if you run short of something.

When I was looking at interior fabric to do the livingroom, I took my favorite top of the line swatches I'd collected from the other stores. Then I narrowed my selection down that way. If you do the research & planning before shopping there, it can truly pay off-big time, on costs. Especially with interiors!;)

Hi everyone, trying not to apologize for being off-topic, but maybe I should apologize for venting a bit. I'm still trying to recover  We leave for our Disneyland vacation on Saturday and I'm having one of those everything that can go wrong moments. DD sprained her ankle Friday, just found out I have a slow leak in my tire, and now developing a toothache, which never happens to me of course. Oh yeah, then there are those wildfires. I truly do feel for the people who have been affected by these fires and I know it is much more important than my silly vacation. That being said, on with my story. Today I decided to check out what people were saying over on the Disneyland side of the Disboards. I wasn't too worried about my vacation. However we were booked to stay at a resort (where we stayed on our honeymoon) near Escondido (a bit north of San Diego). Dissers were saying Anaheim is okay but stay away from San Diego so I started investigating. My resort's website said they were closed until mid-way through my reservation :scared1: Now I understand that they may have been too busy running from fires or something to inform me of this. However I booked my trip through RCI who just sent me a happy "here are some details for your vacation in a few days!" email today. I came very close to driving 10+ hours and winding up with nowhere to stay! But happy ending, I was able to book the days we needed at a resort we have stayed in before right across the street at Disneyland. And hey, we will be muuuuuch closer to Disney and will just have to spend more time there. Unfortunately this is all costing way more money than we had planned. Okay, thanks for listening. DH is working late and I'm still coming down from panic mode.:scared:

Wow! That is waaaayyyyy too long without an epidural. I had an epidural with my first and it was heaven! I progressed too quickly with my second and only received Stadol. I don't know how that happened. I was in labor with her for about 7 1/2 hours. I HATE Stadol. That second labor was not good.

My third, I went to the hospital and as soon as I saw a nurse, I demanded an epidural. She just kind of looked at me and said let's see how I'm doing. I KNEW I didn't want to go thru another labor like my second. When I was settled in bed, they tried giving me Stadol. I said NOOOO. I wanted an epidural. Well, DS decided to enter this world before I could get one. He was born less than 45 minutes after I got the the hospital. I had no pain medicine. I actually did better with him than with DD#2. But 36 hours? No way, no thank you.

Oh, my babies weren't very big. DD#1 was 6 lbs. DD#2 was 5 lbs. 10 oz. DS was 7 lbs. 7 oz.

I knew everyone would find this very fascinating. :lmao: :rotfl:

Ok I just have to tell you gals- my husband just offered to help me sew the applique mickey heads cause I said I was scared to & had to practice first and thought I might just puffy paint seal them. He does not usually get into my crafty stuff- :happytv: He is a car guy and is a welder by profession so it was totally unexpected- not to say that guys who are interested in those things can't be interested in sewing, it is just very unexpected from him- hope that makes sense. He said he used to be really good at sewing- Not sure when that was, but I guess I can see where he might have picked it up- He grew up with 4 sisters and a brother that is 8 years younger than him. I told him about "our" tom and showed him a couple of his customs. Now as I am typing I am wondering if I will be having competetion for the sewing machine :rotfl: - Doubt it, but it was so sweet for him to offer to help me out. We'll see how my practicing goes......I might just have to take him up on it :goodvibes We have 8 days to take off :scared1: :woohoo: One Row left on the mickey head countdown!!!!! I think I'll be finding it hard to sleep from here on out with all the excitement and list making and to do's rolling around in my brain.........How will I make it through :lmao: I'll be exhausted by the time we actually get there :rotfl2: Alright I better try to get some sleep, I swear the kids know when I stay up late and then they get up an hour early the next morning just to teach me a lesson :teacher:
I'm also considering a PTR and wondering if it is too late to start with only 8 days before the trip- what do you all think- I have already been taking pictures of stuff I have bought and the clothes we have made. Oh and I have another OT question- Do I need to reconfirm my ADR's I was reading in a book to reconfirm all reservations 1 week prior to the trip, Does everyone do this- is it necessary to make all the phone calls and the waiting on hold, we did use a TA so do I just need to call her??? Not sure what to do. Sorry for the long post- just so much going on in my head. TIA for all your help!!

I have a question for those of you that sew for others. How do you decide what to charge for your items? It seems that there is a pretty broad spectrum of pricing going on. I don't want to lose money (obviously), and I don't want to price my stuff out of range either. Is there a general formula that you use to determine what is a reasonable price? If you don't feel comfortable posting the answer here, would you please PM me? Thanks!

I'll let you in on how I do it. I use the time it takes me to make an item x an hourly rate. Then I add on any selling fees and the materials. I don't mark those up. Shipping is actual shipping, so any packing supplies, cards, labels, etc have to be part of the materials. On crocheted items I make much less than on sewn items--maybe $5/hour, just because I'd never sell any of it if I charged higher. Hope that helps.

If you go to lionbrand's website and register so you can get free patterns, there is a very easy way of making those fur cuffs. You basically use a hair elastic and do triple crochets with a chain in between until it is full. :)

I do custom overalls, pjs & Tees for my little Princes (along with lots of other sewing projects). Curious how others work with appliques on the bibs of overalls? Do you tend to buy without pockets, rip out the pockets, or sew fabric over the pockets? I've done all of the above!! :rotfl:

I buy the overalls and carefully take off the pocket. I try to do the appliqués on the fabric first then attach the fabric to the bib. I'm not crazy over doing overalls-I've done a few though.

I need some serger help. I bought a singer serger for the sole purpose of rolled hems. Well, I can get it to do the over lock stitches to finish the edges, but I could not do a rolled hem to save my life. I am following the directions in the book very carefully. I know it is threaded correctly since it does all of the other stitches well. Can someone please give me some sample settings that work for them. I am trying to use cotton fabric and all of the settings in the book are for sheer or very light fabric.

That being said... I LOVE the serger. The edges are sooooo much nicer on the insides of my outfits.

I have been sewing away. I am however still without my laptop, so no pics for a few days. I can not wait to show you all the dress I made Miss. Katie for the pumpkin show.

Thanks in advance for the help. I really need this to work. I bought a rolled hem foot yesterday just to try it and :scared1: is all I can say about that!

I love it. Did you use a pattern from YCMT? :confused3 I'd like to give it a try.

I didn't use a pattern from YCMT but here is what I did.
Each square is 5x5.

First tier has 8 squares.
Second tier has 12 squares.
Third tier has 18 squares.
Triangle ruffle also has 18 which match up with the third tier.
Top band shows 1 1/2 inches so adjust for casing with the size of elastic you are using.

I used 1/2 seams everywhere.

This fits my almost 6 y/o daughter of avg height but short legs.

This skirt isn't as full as most, it's only 1 1/2 times instead of 2 (which gives you the full horizontal twirl), but I was working with only a set number of squares in the pack.

I love your use of rickrack in your Mickey outfit. The applique looks great!

Your children are stunning!

This skirt isn't as full as most, it's only 1 1/2 times instead of 2 (which gives you the full horizontal twirl), but I was working with only a set number of squares in the pack.

thanks for the simple instructions! It should make this easy to follow! Well maybe not EASY, but ABLE to follow:rotfl:

LOVE the fur cuffs. My sister told me about those (she has a friend . . .) Anyone willing to sell - send me a PM. I'm in the market . . .

Okay. This is what I have been working on lately. I have not been diligent. And I have a bunch of stuff to make. BUT. I thought it turned out well. I love the colors together.

I got some flannel last winter at JoAnnes. I guess you keep an eye out on that site "that must not be named", you'll come across some of it. It has a yellow background.
I too have a yard of flannel, probably from ebay, it is the yellow background. No idea when I got it!

Could either one of you post a picture of it so I have an idea what it looks like? I'm glad to hear there is some out there!

Oh, I wish I could go there!

 Wow, you would think that RCI would have let you know about the hotel! I'm glad you got things worked out though!

I do find it fascinating!

I looked on the YCMT website and can't find those.. :confused3 What are they called?
Gooosfraba!!!! It will all work out in the end and we are here for you to vent!!!
I added a link to the fur cuf crochet and knit patterns to the bookmarks site under applique and embelishments. You will have to sign up for the site to view them though.

Goosfraba! Funny!
Ok I just have to tell you gals- my husband just offered to help me sew the applique mickey heads
What a sweet heart!!!!

If you go to lionbrand's website and register so you can get free patterns, there is a very easy way of making those fur cuffs. You basically use a hair elastic and do triple crochets with a chain in between until it is full. :)

Lucinda

That's the one I added to the bookmarks.

Welcome Lucinda, tell us a little about yourself!

I'm the kind of person where almost everything goes wrong too. I'm sitting here with a terrible cold and we leave in 2 days...My Mum is also sick and has missed 2 days of work, and she is supposed to go with us. The poor thing even dragged herself out of bed to go and buy a costume for MNSSHP. I don't even know if we will be going now...I can't see wearing a heavy hot costume with a fever..yuck....

Aww, I hope everyone gets to feeling better soon! I'm in Dallas too! McKinney, actually. I haven't been down there yet but I had heard about it from Childress Fabrics in Frisco, TX (I think they said they own some of the stores down there too). Childress has mostly interior/upholstery fabric, is it the same there or do they have fabric that you could use for clothes too? How come DH's always work late when things to wrong? That is the story of my life! The smoke detector needs a new battery on the top of a 14 foot ceiling, DH is out of town. My 230 lb dog throws up in the middle of the night on my bedroom floor, DH is out of town. My children throw up, DH is nowhere to be found! I hope everything works out fine for your hotel stay. I'd be a little upset with RCI if I was you! Thank goodness you checked on your hotel before you left! Just remember, you'll be at Disney! It wil all be worth it in the end.

I did not applique, the only thing I can sew is decoupage pants! The shirt was made by a very talented lady here on the Dis, all I did was buy it!

I'd answer their questions but according to my husband my words were slurred and I'd usually preface it with I can hear you but I can't make my eyes open!:rotfl2: My doctor finally came in and said I needed to sleep it off!:rotfl2: A drunk, pregnant, about to deliver, first time mom! The name Childress sounds familar, but I can't recall if any of the warehouses have signs as such. :confused3 There are mulitple warehouses & wholesalers. (The whole area is a wholesale market for just about anything. If you have a tax id, or small business you can get access I couldn't have! Bonus!:cool1: Just be sure to use wisdom & caution in some areas, the neighborhood can be seedy.:scared1: You know in TX it's legal to carry a firearm, right?:rolleyes1  )

Some shops do cater to the interiors, a lot don't. Just have to be able to take your time & look around, ask questions. You name it & they've got it! Exquiste silks, hand beaded exclusive fabrics, cottons for quilting, leather, tons of notions, etc. etc. There's even a great little shop down there that does sewing machine maintanence & repair. (I've got to get mine in to them sometime soon!)

I bought all my yardage when I sewed all my 1st DS' nursery stuff. Also bought yardage for maternity clothes. Then once we had 2nd DS & had the house, I bought all the interior fabrics for curtains, linings, cornice boards & pillows in our livingroom. You can really get some great buys! It's hard for me to restrain myself there! ;) I've avoided it for awhile, intentionally. Check it out, when you can!

If you're going to try to applique, make the investment in a clear embroidery/applique foot. Someone (maybe Susan or Nana - sorry I don't remember who!) on the board was very kind and helpful and suggested that I buy one. I took their advice and did and it made it so much easier! I know they sell them on :wizard: but I sometimes need to have the instant gratification of the item in my greedy little hands and found it at a sewing store in town. The store where I bought it had the snap on kind for $9.95 which was a lot cheaper than :wizard: . Also, the store was a locally owned store not Joann's or Hancock's. Check around, for that price I was thrilled!

I am an anal retentive planner and I always double (okay, sometimes triple) check all of my reservations (dinner ones too!). For me the planning is part of my fun. I guess I get to look forward to it more!

LOVE the fur cuffs. My sister told me about those (she has a friend . . .) Anyone willing to sell - send me a PM. I'm in the market . . .

My grandmother taught me how to crochet years ago and I can still do it today but I have no idea what the stitches are called. I wish I had learned the "proper way" to do it but I think since I know most of the stitches and just don't know what they are called I could figure it out easily enough. I have crocheted on my DDs socks though and added beads and fun fur and they end up pretty cute!

Your applique looks fantastic! Love the outfit and the colors. Great job!

I have no help for you on the serger but I wanted your advice ( or anyone else who has one). I want to ask for one for Christmas and I was thinking I was just going to ask for the Singer that is around $190. I have two friends who have sergers but they have $1200+ Bernina's, and I am nowhere near their league as far as sewing goes and no one would buy me such an expensive gift anyway! Is this the Singer you have? What about the rest of you out there? Is this an adequate machine or should I ask for a gift card and pay for some of it myself to get a more expensive machine?

Ok, let's see if 10 post has me at the point I can post these photos.....

Hey! How does CindyBGood get a tag from the tag fairy and she only has 11 posts! Just jealous, that's all! I actually don't think I'm as funny (in my opinion I'm funny!) on the boards as I am in real life (wow that sounds like I'm bragging but I'm not trying to!). Does anyone else feel like your personality doesn't come through right?

Also, about my little dog Oscar! He actually doesn't slobber that much! Most mastiffs slobber all the time but apparently it is genetic somehow and his parents weren't big slobberers(is this a word?) either. You do have to watch him after he drinks though b/c the water just runs out of his mouth (I call these slingers b/c he usually wants to shake when this is happening and it slings it all over the place) in streams and if I let him in immediately I do have to wipe his mouth. Also, his mouth is so big that sometimes food just rolls around in there and falls out eventually and he doesn't even know it. Poor baby, he is a good dog though. I'm gong to add this one story though about why I love him so much. My DD4 (at the time only 2) got out of my house once w/o me realizing it. I had run in to use the restroom (just #1 so it was quick - TMI I know!!!) and when I came back out I couldn't find her. I ran upstairs to our playroom and looked around there. I was calling for her and she didn't answer. I ran back downstairs and looked around for her there too. Still couldn't find her. Ran back upstairs again b/c I was sure I was just missing her and that she was hiding. All the while I had DD2 (at the time just 6 weeks old) in my arms. When I went back downstairs I realized that Oscar was also missing. I ran out to my fenced in backyard and they weren't there. The front door was still dead bolted so they didn't get out that way either. By now I was panicing and I called a neighbor and told her I couldn't find Grace. She said she was going to drive over. Of course, DH was out of town (see my other posts and you'll see my pattern of this!!!). I ran to my next door neighbors who were out of town but who had a pool but she wasn't there. I had my phone with me and I was running to the neighborhood school's playground to see if she had gone there. My phone rang and it was my neighbor. She had found them walking down her street together. Grace apparently decided she wanted to go for a walk and Oscar, of course being the great dog that he is, followed thankfully. Our subdivision was under construction at the time and the workers and taco trucks flew through the streets. I know they wouldn't have seen my little girl but they wouldn't have missed Oscar! Also, who is going to mess with a child when their dog is with them and he's that big? Of course, immediately after that I had all of my doors to the exterior baby-proofed with hotel locks above my head so my little "magician" couldn't get out again. So that is why Oscar is my baby boy! He takes care of his sisters!

sahm1000 - I have the singer serger that cost about $190 - I got it at WalMart. I love it! It does everything that I need for it to do. I'm not a seamstress, I just sew for my DD, and have begun to do a few things for others. It works perfectly fine for me. I wish I would have purchased it sooner.

I need some serger help. I bought a singer serger for the sole purpose of rolled hems.

and what in the world is a rolled hem?

I went thru multiple brands of transfers, before I found one that worked & ran all the ink out of the printer. That's why only the lil DS' have the wording "Our Family Dreams Coming True" on 'em. We love Brother Bear!

This is the Mickey quilt I made for the plane ride to Disneyland in May. Cuz did you ever stop to think how many cooties are on those airplane blankets? Ewww! Plus, what's more cozier than a quilt? No one slept on our west bound late night flight but me-but I used it! I'll have to get a full shot of it later.

This is the back of the weighted vest I made for DS(5) who has autism. Long story behind the applique....

This is the front of the weighted vest. I don't like it at all, it's too home made looking & I wanted to tear it out & re-do just a plain denium front with apps. Alas, I ran out of time before our trip, sigh. Thank God he didn't even need to wear this creation! (This was one of many miracles, for our dream Disney trip!)

I really hope you feel better soon. If it is a bad cold and cough with fever it is going around the Ivie house. It finally cought up with me on sunday and followed me home from Disneyland after my girls day out. Get well soon.:flower3:

A serger does make the inside seams look much better. (I am all about how the inside looks too!) I sometimes sew my seams first and then follow up with a serger. It is very difficult to rip out a serged seam and go back and reserge it, since it cuts and serges at the same time.

Also, I like the serged rolled hem on the bottom of my ruffles. It is so much faster than serging the edge, and then pressing and then topstitching. (Although with certain fabrics, I do still do it that way).

I know I don't post too often here, but I thought I would give my opinion on this if it counts!

I am putting off making DD's Halloween skirt. I can't decide if I want to patchwork it, or do the layered twirl skirt with the tulle.

All the fabric is layed out, all the supplies, the knowledge to do it, but I am procrastinating doing it.:scared:

I am finally feeling better from my post Disney sickness, but DW has now caught it.

Now she knows why I was such a big baby when I was sick!:rolleyes1

There is a formula for the patchwork skirt in Theresa's bookmarks.. It's TNMOM's I think (though she doesn't take credit for it, she's the one who posted it.-it's clever anyway, I just wish I hadn't decided to add all these damned ruffles.)

MINDY-I PM'd you too!!!! Is there a MOD in the house???:confused3

Just wondering, has anyone seen any Dumbo fabric around? I love that little elephant (but, not the icky pink elephants on parade thing. oooh, scary!)

AAAWWWWW! I LOOVE Pink Elephants on parade. Dh has decided that whoever came up with that & Heffalump & Woozles was probably having a bad acid trip. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Anyone have any ideas on creating an applique that's 1/2 pirate & 1/2 princess "I'm a little bit princess & a little bit pirate". I've seen this in a T Shirt design, but I think I want to make it in an applique. Show me your samples......

Since I still can't post links or photos I can't really show what I mean. However, on the Creative DISigns boards, M_I_C_K_E_Y Designs (aka amymickey) has a design with a Mickey head silhouette, with a pink pirate scarf on the head, then a tiara on top of it & an eye patch!! It rocks!:cool2:

I want to make an outfit for my niece who's in 12 - 18 mos. I just don't want to do a T Shirt, something cuter...like an applique.

Hope I explained myself okay:confused:

That's exactly what I was going to suggest. Use a Mickey head & give him a pirate bandana (we have GREAT instructions for one here somewhere). Then get one of those iron-on rhinestone tairas to put on it. Or maybe a princess scepter instead of the tiara.

Here's the pic we're talking about for those that don't know.

OK, with dd4, there were like 5 other women in labor at the same time, so I couldn't get anyone to come in most of the time. Plus the anesthesiologists were all busy in surgery so no one made upstairs to give me my epidural (I think it's just as well, that needle is SCARY!!). They gave me some demoral, but it was too late to really help with the pain. I just got REALLY sleepy after she was born.

With dd1, I decided that it wasn't so bad without the epidural so I could do it again. This time they gave me a little Stadol, but it made me dizzy & then I could stand up & walk around or use the whirlpool. ggggrrrrrrr!! Laying on my back hurt worse than no meds & walking around. If I have another one, there will be NO Stadol. BTW, my ob/gyn learned an important lesson that day. My water hadn't broken & was pushing. One nurse asked if he wanted to go ahead & break it & he said no. Another asked if he wanted a mask & he said no. Then my water brkoe & he got sprayed in the face. :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: Even the nurses were laughing at him.

I mostly just use my serger to make the edges of the fabric look finished. I usually cut out my pattern and then serge all of the edges that will show before I put the garment together. I really dislike the look of raw fabric edges inside clothes so it makes a big difference to me. If a person doesn't mind that, then a serger might be an unnecessary purchase. I feel like the serged edges make the clothes lay better too. I have noticed in the past that unfinished raw edges kind of bunch up with wear and the clothes may start to look a little "homemade" instead of "handmade" over time.

There are a few things that my serger can do that my sewing machine can't. A rolled edge is one, sewing stretch fabrics is another, but I use mine about 99% for just finishing the edges of the fabric that will show.

I have a babylock that I love. I think it cost about $600 5 years ago. I strongly suggest buying your serger someplace that will teach you how to use it. In the KC area Missouri Sewing Machine Company gives free lessons when you buy a machine. Having someone show you how to thread and what settings to use is really priceless!

Some sergers can do an additional row of stitching so the seam can be stitched and finished in one step. However, most 4/3 thread sergers are best just to use for seam finishing IMO. I always stitch first on the sewing machine and then serge the seams. Now that I have a serger, I can't imagine not using one on most garments. I really like how nice and neat the seams look plus I don't have to worry about the fabric fraying over time during laundering. I also think it does add an extra level of strength to the seams, too.

Before I owned a serger I stitched the seams and then did a zigzag stitch over the edge to make them neater and less likely to fray. It's not necessary but finishing the seams in some way really does add to the longevity of a garment IMO.

As for the rolled edge, it's a cool way to finsh the edge of fabric without having to hem it in the traditional way. It's a nice decorative finish. It's how I finished the edge of the ruffles on this top, ties and around the edge of the fabric "skirt" of the top. I used white thread to give an extra accent but it can also be done to match the color of the fabric.

Someone may have already answered, I haven't read through all the responses first. I sew my seams first, and then go over with the serger to finish the edges. The serger cuts off the edges and overcasts them at the same time. It gives the seams a very professional look. I also use my serger to do rolled edges. This is VERY hand for ruffles, or something that is going to show and you don't want to roll and hem. It is SO much faster.

[QUOTE=sahm1000;21450103] I want to ask for one for Christmas and I was thinking I was just going to ask for the Singer that is around $190.

I spoke with a gentleman from Ken's sewing and something or another store. I had bought some sewing items on voldemart from them. I asked a lot of questions about machines and what is the best for the buck, etc. He suggested a Janome. He said he had an electronic machine that did 30 some stitches and other things for $299. I paid $1000 for my Kenmore 25 years ago. I am looking around for something not in the Bernina range, but that is a good machine. I don't know much about Singers. I have a new Singer I bought from a salesman who had one of those on the road sewing machine shows at Joann's. It was mailed to me, I couldn't get it to work well and I just put it away. I have had it 2 years and never used it. I know, I should have sent it back, or called or something, but what can I say. I bought a serger since i started on this board for around $280 and i love it. I hate fraying fabric, and I use it for that reason and only that reason. I don't know how I ever got along without it. I sew seams first with my machine and then use the serger on all of the raw edges.

I went through about 4 sewing machines through the years and the biggest trouble I ever had was jamming. The tensions were terrible and everything would jam. My Kenmore never did that. I think it was made by White. Probably White is made by Singer, who knows. They probably are all made the same place. I have a feeling Janome and Brother are the same too.
I still have my Disney Brother and hadn't even tried it. i bought the thread to do the embroidery and just am too busy with work etc to get to it. Wish I had time off!!!

Regarding L&D...when I had my first child, my mother took me to the hospital and left me there...alone...no one was allowed in the labor room back then. She told me it was like having bad period cramps...well, I was sure I was going to die because that was no period cramps. I was yelling so loudly that my friend could hear me outside the hospital on her way into work....and it was Feb!!! ANd to top it off. rather than checking you in the usual way...I can't spell it here or it will be deleted, you know, the woo hoo...they check up the poo poo way...I have no idea why...but I kept screaming at the nurse...and my mom said there would be an ether mask there....I kept asking where's the mask...where's the mask...no mask...they told me to push and i yelled push what? What does that mean??? the nurse whispered in my ear , "like having a bm..." that I could do...it was horrible horrible horrible...no meds no nothing...thank God we have child birthing classes and we talk about things openly!

First of all :lmao: :rotfl:  :rotfl2: Laughing OUT LOUD!!!!!!!
Serves the dr.- right maybe he'll take those nurses up on the offer next time!!!

I had nubane with the first one and that just made me feel tired so when I had the second I said no meds thank you. That epidural needle scares me too!! would rather take the pain then have someone stick me with that thing :scared1: So glad the let you have people with you in the delivery room these days- can't imagine being alone with strangers and being in all that pain!!!

mommaPooh-Congrats to you on picture of the week - the face is priceless!!
GeorgiaAristocat- Love the blue & green mickey, Also what type of fabric did you use for peter pan?? Any pattern or is it a wing it??

Just wanted to let everyone know who wants to try and crochet the wonderful cuffs JHAM posted that the Lion Brand Fun Fur is on sale at Joann's right now (I think until Sat) for 5 for $10. I don't crochet but my mom does so I have a job for her now. It's a great portable hobby, my mom will crochet everywhere - meetings, in the car (when someone else is driving), even at my kids soccer games.

LisaZoe"OK, I was at the mental image of Captain Jack (the real one as played by Johnny Depp) in a tutu. He could SOOOOO pull it off and make it look hot."!!!:rotfl: Johnny Depp could pull the tutu look off, that's for sure!

With a 12 to 18 months size top you don't have much space to work with. You could do a Mickey Head out of black fabric. Then a pink fabric scarf and then use some iron on bling to add a crown or a skull and cross bones. You could make an apron top so you have more space instead of a t shirt or a onesie.

Make the apron top out of pink fabric with black bias tape?

I would browse the fabric store and see what they have to choose from.

Good Luck

Ok I just have to tell you gals- my husband just offered to help me sew the applique mickey heads cause I said I was scared to & had to practice first and thought I might just puffy paint seal them.

Good luck to your husband. Hmmm I just find it hard to imagine a man using a sewing machine. It is kinda like driving though you push the pedal with your foot and steer the fabric and some of the best designers are men so hey let him give it a whirl!

I don't think that it's too late to start a trip report if you have time go for it!

I don't usually reconfirm ADR's but when you get to the resort they can print out all your ADR's and you can check availability on anything you may have missed out on. I do check with the resort and make sure they have any special requests on file.

And. Just because - pics of my kids. I made the Peter Pan outfit for my son for our trip in December. Some wise people once told me that so few people dress boys up for the parks, that it makes the ones that do REALLY stand out. We're going to try it. The Tink is obviously a Disney store buy.

I love the applique and that outfit is adorable.

I made DS a Peter Pan costume for our trip in August 2006 He got a lot of attention! DD was Snow white and they wore them to CRT I'll try to dig up a picture.

Okay... Now that I have fraken-patterned this halloween twirl.... my mother and I are EYEBALL deep in fabric and I'm starting to wonder if this birds gonna fly... I have visions of a LED ZEPPLIN in the works!!!

So heres what I did. a Faux corset top w/ straps w/ a ruffle around the bottom of the bodice. then the normal patchwork formula. I decided to add ruffles to the bottom of each tier of the skirt and a double ruffle at the bottom....I have over 23 feet of ruffles all said and done( i always do my ruffles 3x the measurement of the piece it's getting attaced to-I hand ruffle too)... Lily's only 2 is she gonna e able to lug this dress around? And is my corset top gonna support it? as I'm sewing the final ruffles, I'm getting scared..

This is the front of the weighted vest. I don't like it at all, it's too home made looking & I wanted to tear it out & re-do just a plain denium front with apps. Alas, I ran out of time before our trip, sigh. Thank God he didn't even need to wear this creation! (This was one of many miracles, for our dream Disney trip!)

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff76/pv31wife/PreRoadTrip2a.jpg
These were the T-Shirts I made for our entrance into California Adventure, our 1st day at Disneyland. I went thru multiple brands of transfers, before I found one that worked & ran all the ink out of the printer. That's why only the lil DS' have the wording "Our Family Dreams Coming True" on 'em. We love Brother Bear!
I think everything looks great! Please tell us the story of the Mickey applique!

I used white thread to give an extra accent but it can also be done to match the color of the fabric.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c368/zoe_diva/th_floral_boho4.jpg

Lisa, thanks so much for showing a picture of the rolled edge! I've heard you all talk about it before but I had no idea what it was. That is so helpful! Now, what is a blind hem (I think that's what you guys have talked about before)?

What & who is the tag fairy? :confused3 Yep, they're right & I'm guilty for adding the quote myself in the tag. I thought I'd mix it up a bit. In real life, I'm not funny. I just have a quirky writing style. You have nothing to be jealous of.:sad2:

I love the story of Oscar the mastiff! :) That sounds like something that would've happened in my house too with our oldest DS & Labradoodle "Sydney"! Where'd you get the hotel locks on the doors from? We made are own wood bar block thing, with a high tech jingle bell alarm system!

For those that asked: the story behind the Mickey "applique" on the weighted vest....It's not actually what I'd consider an applique at all.:rolleyes1 DS (6) has loved Mickey since a little tike & he had this black sweat outfit, that had a hood & mickey ears attached. The "applique" was the front of that little outfit. He loved that thing to death! Far outgrown, I figured a way of working it into the vest. Cut it out of the old & stitched it into the vest!;)

There are inside pockets on the lining of this vest, which are filled with weighted clay that warms & presses into the body. (helps with autism) The vest isn't something fun for him, he knows it makes him look different. Unfortunately, at times it's a necessity for him to wear to cope in our world. I thought the familar face he adored would help him gravitate towards it. Sometimes, what folks consider bribes are actually "negotiating for reward" in our home. :smooth:

One of the reasons I'm now a growing fan of Disney is all of the miracles that took place for us while at Disneyland this past May. Including the fact that DS did not need the vest or many of the other adaptive devices we normally need for him to survive! It was a trip beyond our dreams & we can't wait to return real soon!

Oh good:goodvibes I feel better now! I didn't even realize it was being released but it was at the checkout counter at "that" store (how clever they are) and thought it would be great to pack it in a box w/ popcorn and twizzlers and let the kids open it on one of our down nights. I think they'll enjoy it but DH almost spoiled the surprise, he normally doesn't help unpack the groceries but it was late and he wanted me to start on dinner. I didn't even think to mention it to him and he pulls it out in front of DS and said "whats this" but I made that "put it away right now, it's a secret face" and he shoved it in the bag, I think the boy knows it's a movie but he thinks its the jungle book that he's been asking for. SO, I figure I'm still ahead.

I hope that we can help keep you inspired to bring the magic to your house and that your son continues to grow and adapt to this crazy world of ours. I think that probably everyone here has heard me say (though I haven't had to in a while...) that WDW is only magic if you let it be and it is a philosophy I try to keep at the front of my mind daily (not just about WDW). You make the magic, hopefully you brought some home with you.. of course this philosophy has blown up on me on more than one disney trip w/ a tired cranky boy and a hungry infant and a DEAR DEAR husband asking "is THIS a magical moment? OK, I'm not a pro and haven't done the ruffles between each tier BUT I think it will be fine. A halter twirl dress I made for Zoe last year (she was 4 1/2 then) ended up with about 19 yards of ruffles/tiers if added all together (total length not the amount of fabric used for the dress ;)). It is a lot of fabric but she didn't seem to have a problem with it.

Lisa, thanks so much for showing a picture of the rolled edge! I've heard you all talk about it before but I had no idea what it was. That is so helpful! Now, what is a blind hem (I think that's what you guys have talked about before)?

This is the type of hem often used for nicer garments where the hem stitching is mostly not noticable from the rightside of the garment. About all you'd see are small stitches that are only about 2-3 threads long. I rarely use this method, though, so don't have any photos to show as an example. The stitch used looks kind of like a zogzag exept every 3rd stitch (or 4th) is wider than the others. Most of the stitching is done on the turned up part of the hem and that wider stitch catches just a few threads of the main part of the garment. You don't need a special foot for this but it helps.

Here are 2 tutorials that seem pretty good.

Thanks so much for all the answers about the serger. It does seem like a great device and very useful. I especially like the idea of the rolled hem, since I don't like all of the time it seems to take to hem. I may ask for this for my birthday in January, or maybe even for Christmas.

Now here is the next question. Does the serger "sew" as well? Meaning can I just use it to sew the simple sewing projects like tee dresses and skirts, and also use it to serge the inside seams? I am thinking about space in this house mostly! Oh and can you applique with it too?

I would like to see this "invisible" hem thing too. I 'm thinking maybe since it's invisible no one can post pics of it:confused3 :lmao: :confused3 :lmao:

Or is it just another Urban Legand????

OKay, I begged and pleaded, but apparently all you busy bees are out there sewing today. I am going home now (HEY TJ I was sewing at work...a sewing machine AND a computer at the same time, how's that for technological advancement!!!) w/ 23 feet of ruffle in hand (minus the 240" I already attached to the top tier) If you don't hear from me before I leave Friday it can ONLY be because I was caught in a tragic and fatal ruffle-slide and you should all be considering "in mourning" for at least 14 days. I will expect you to all wear black mickey head armbands during this time. Thank you. (otherwise I intend to post pics of the bleedin' thing!)

Close-up of my first applique. This was easier than I thought!

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s60/aelsmith/IMG_1530.jpg

And. Just because - pics of my kids. I made the Peter Pan outfit for my son for our trip in December. Some wise people once told me that so few people dress boys up for the parks, that it makes the ones that do REALLY stand out. We're going to try it. The Tink is obviously a Disney store buy.

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s60/aelsmith/IMG_1520.jpg

We were there a few weeks ago and an older boy was dressed in his Peter Pan. We were all in line to see Captain Hook. Cpt. Hook spent some time "playing" with the boy. What fun!

Okay, I don't think this is going to work. But my scanner is acting up again, so right now I can't get a picture of the fabric. If you look at the jacket, there is a little peice of it on the sleeve about Docs head. And next to the cuff of the sleeve (same side). Unfortunately, Dumbo is under the sleeve. I'll keep trying to get a scan of it.

I love this top and want to CASE it(if you don't mind:flower3:) What pattern did you use or did you just wing it? TIA for any info!:)

I started with McCalls M5306. I don't remember who showed us (many moons ago) about the scrunchy straps, but I used 3/4" elastic in those and added the ric-rac, obviously. I also used larger buttons than it called for on the back. Otherwise the top is pretty true to the pattern. The pants are capri length, but since we are going in December, and especially how I did the two rows of ric rac that look like a cuff, I wish I had made them full length. Oh well.

That expression on her face is just priceless! Truly an adorable photo!

Do we have a pro around to advise? PLEASE???:teacher:

...t.

No real advice, but I think it will be ok.

I'm in the same boat. I'm working on a 33ft ruffle at the moment for a 4 yr old. I keep looking at this pile of fabric & thinking "I could make MYSELF a twirl skirt out of this much fabric."

For Dallas' lightning mcqueen I had bought the wilton cake pan and on the back where the frosting directions are was a simple tiny lightning. I used that, scanned it and enlarged it. I bought the Cars Magic Artist book but there just wasn't one to my liking in it. I did use the little blue guy out of it, can't think of his name right this second.

I do have the Singer that is around $190. I got it at Wally World.... I had not shopped there is YEARS until I joined this thread and now I can say I have been there so many time the girls at the fabric counter know my name :)

I do like it. It does everything I need it to do. Well... if I could figure out the rolled hem settings it would do everything! It is nice machine and worth the money. I love the way the edges look after they are serged. I think it is a great serger for the money and for someone to begin with. I would have loved to have lessons on using it. However I have done fine with just reading the manual.

sahm1000 - I have the singer serger that cost about $190 - I got it at WalMart. I love it! It does everything that I need for it to do. I'm not a seamstress, I just sew for my DD, and have begun to do a few things for others. It works perfectly fine for me. I wish I would have purchased it sooner.

Can you please share which settings you use for the rolled hem? I am at a loss. I have tried everything.

Camping - I wonder the same thing!

and what in the world is a rolled hem?

and I haven't been keeping up with this thread lately, but adoption - did your youngest get her cast off yet? I can't tell in the pic in your signature.

I saw some others answered your questions about the rolled hem. I will add that once you can do a rolled hem you will not want to hem any other way.

Yes, Katie did get her cast off. She has had it off for 2 weeks and is still walking like she did with it on. I will ask her why she is walking that way and she rubs her leg and says "cast" :confused3 I think it still feels a little weaker than the other leg. The doctor said it could be months before she is walking normal. It is cute, but sad. She is kind of walking with a limp and dragging her leg behind her. It however is not holding her down. She is back to jumping and climbing. That child is dangerous :scared1: Thank you for asking about her.

adoptionmomma4, I don't have the Singer serger, but I have a Huskylock. when I do my rolled hems, I use these settings, usually -

Right needle tension - 5
Upper looper tension - 6 - 7
Lower looper tension - 7 - 8 (very occasionally 9)

I tend to need the higher tension for a heavier weight fabric. I always do a little test strip (or 2 or 4, LOL) to make sure my settings will work for that certain fabric.

Also, make sure your stitch length is set to the shortest setting (where the stitches are the closest together.)

I hope this helps some! Feel free to ask anymore questions if you need!
Good Luck!

We actually paid a man to install them and they are worth the money for the peace of mind it brought! Actually, they were very reasonable, I think $16 for each door. Either way, after that 10 minutes of panic I would have paid any price. Love the idea of the jingle bell alarm!

LisaZoe:"It's amazing how well he does creepy crazy but still makes it sezy. I don't think another actor could do it nearly as well." Couldn't have said it any better! Johnny Depp is creepy, crazy & sezy/sleazy!:lmao:

I'm so glad you had a magical trip. There is something about being there that makes everyone feel so positive.

Sorry!! I haunt the "site that shall not be named"! Plus when I see it in the store, I put some away. Right now, I'm using the patches to make a twirl skirt. I think I'm going to take a pair of overalls apart and attach it to the bib.

That ought to be cute!

I am officially turning into the daughter my Mother always wanted!:scared1:

Princess Leigh thinks she's a "model"! Good thing you can't see her legs in these photos!:rotfl:

I love these cuffs! I know I could crochet that but are you guys using a hair twisty to go around or are you just measuring their wrists? Also, when you see other ones that aren't the fun fur type how do you do those? I know you can buy the fuzzy stuff at Joann's, do they just sew them onto the sleeve of the shirts?

I do have the Singer that is around $190. I got it at Wally World.... I had not shopped there is YEARS until I joined this thread and now I can say I have been there so many time the girls at the fabric counter know my name :)

I do like it. It does everything I need it to do. Well... if I could figure out the rolled hem settings it would do everything! It is nice machine and worth the money. I love the way the edges look after they are serged. I think it is a great serger for the money and for someone to begin with. I would have loved to have lessons on using it. However I have done fine with just reading the manual.

Can you please share which settings you use for the rolled hem? I am at a loss. I have tried everything.

Thanks for your help with the serger! Hopefully Santa will be good to me!

Poor Katie! How sad that she still feels a phantom cast! Hopefully she'll forget about it soon!

Thanks! I see it! I also see some other fabric that I REALLY REALLY want now!!! Thanks! I love that Alice fabric! And, I'm pretty sure I just saw that Baloo fabric at my local fabric shop! Hmm, I have the Lilo and the Buzz, what else do I have to find now.........

Goodness, there is no way for me to catch up now...

Our vacation in Sept. was okay. I don't think we'll ever go for only 4 days again, too short for us, I think the only one of us that really really enjoyed it was DD. I was sad that I was so ready to come home after the first day. Our longer trip will be much much better.

UtahMama, I'm so sorry we missed you at the Glow party. We had thermonuclear meltdown three year old and really, no one else needed to be subjected to that, I was pretty sure I didn't want to deal with it but since she's a mama's girl, well, my husband can make himself rather scarce when she's in a mood like that. (remind me that I need to whack him with the clue-by-four the next time he tries to bail out, why should I have all the fun? :sad2: )

I'm starting to gear up for our Nov. Dec. trip. I should have plenty of time since my computer is dead and I'm just now getting on a borrowed lap top, hence the no way I'm going to catch up on this thread. Compounded by the absessed tooth this week I haven't had much focus for sewing. I never thought I'd be glad to say that I was going to be having a root canal but tomorrow can't get here fast enough, at least the nerve will be removed from the tooth and won't be causing me too much agony. I will have to console myself in the fact that at least my dentist is an amazing specimen of eye candy and he's Hungarian, and I just have a thing for Eastern European men. :rolleyes1

Tom, you and my dad should hang out, he's the one I got all the sewing stuff from, I just wish he could teach me how to crochet, he's a right handed guy and I'm a leftie and that's one of those things he's never been able to teach me. He's really good at it too. My great grandmother taught him all that, she used to baby sit him, and he was her favorite so she taught him all sorts of stuff. Can you PM me your vorldemort id so I can see what you've got up there? Thanks!

I love the orange cuffs. I'll have to go back and read, I wanted to do some cuffs for Christmas outfits.

I've got quite a few things I want to make and I just saw Olivia the Pig Christmas fabric, I want to make my DD something, probably a twirty jumper and jeans to match, and get the new Olivia book since it's Christmas themed and give it to her a little before Christmas so she can enjoy the book. We love Olivia, she and my small person have about the same attitude. :scared1:

I'm going to try and read back a little before bed.

So glad to be back online finally.

LOVE all of the fur cuffs. I don't know if my girls would wear them or not. I might, though. Any other "adults" wearing these cuffs?

The only thing I can crochet/knit is one type of blanket. My grandma taught me. It was a little tricky because she's right-handed and I'm a lefty. I don't know if it's crocheting or knitting. I use one needle and a long U-shaped item. I have no idea what it's called.

Really, really adorable! That fabric looks so comfy, cozy. It looks hard to make doll clothes. Too little for me! I thought the dogs were SUPPOSED to be upside down on Snow White's pajamas so she could see them better!

I am never going to finish the Halloween outfits. Some of these must be done by Sunday for the church carnival (must dress as your favorite bible character.) I didn't find out about this carnival till after the girls came up with their ideas for Halloween so now the need 2 outfits each to cover this.

All week I have been having to drive ds to drivers ed classes. I think this is funny, because I am doing a lot of extra driving to get him to drivers ed classes.

Monday afternoon the dresser in dds' room (so big it takes up most of one wall) fell over on the girls. I have no idea how they didn't get hurt. There was smashed items all over the floor, but the girls were fine.

Today I am going nuts elbow deep in baking. This weekend is the Boy Scout camporee and dh volunteered me to bake cookies for the troop to take along camping. I still need to watch the time for picking ds up after his class and getting some school time in for the girls (good thing cooking uses math to double a recipe and reading to read a recipe.)

I hope to get some sewing time soon. Well I am off to get another batch of cookies out of the oven and some headache meds.

No, you won't get an infraction for asking a question. :-) (Oy, so that's how you all see me -- as the giver of infractions!) The rules can be confusing.

The best way I can explain it is this -- there are lots of folks here who sell stuff on ebay. If there are posts saying "look for this" or "search for that" or even "congrats on the beautiful xyz you are selling" it can be unfair to the other posters who's stuff isn't mentioned, by them or anyone else. Also, if everyone was posting about the stuff being sold it would take up a lot of space (and bandwidth) so the conversations about Disney, trip planning and the creative stuff you all make for your families would get lost.

Does that make sense?

So cute- what kind of snaps/buttons did use to keep it fastened? And where does it open- In diaper area or just around the neck??

You're quotes are messing up. I didn't call you a hog! (Although I might have thought it.) I did talk about the one needle and long U-shaped item. So that's crocheting, huh? Well, the blanket is the only thing I know how to do. Maybe I'll have to look at those instructions on YCMT. Hmm...Do I really want to add another item to my neverending pile of stuff that needs started/finished?
I HATE when that happens! Check out the free instructions before you buy the YCMT ones though.

I haven't been on the boards in a few days, so I'm going to try to catch up on everything. But, first I wanted to post the nightgowns I made Tessa and her dolls on Tuesday. I used the YCMT peasant shirt/dress pattern. It went really smoothly, so I was happy with that!

Here's Tessa with her Jada doll and Snow White. I had some fabric left, so I thought I'd try to make a teeny little nightgown, too.

You guys must think I am an ogre! LOL

No, I get the same amount of space as everybody else. I think the banner in your signature takes up room. I did have to play with my signature after the new rule took place to get the pics to fit -- my pics used to be on two rows but it cut off almost the entire bottom row when I had it the old way.

No Beth, we don't think you are an ogre! I wouldn't want to be a moderator for this board! UGGH! Too much work! Not enough gratitude!

It does get confusing sometimes though as to what is allowed and what we might get in trouble for! I know before I have been told that I could post the username of Ebay sellers, as long as it was ok with the Ebay seller. Now, I'm not sure if I can do that. What if we buy an outfit on Ebay, can we show it here and say we got it on Ebay? Can we say the sellers name when we show the outfit?

Thanks for sharing your labor stories, ladies!! I actually find labor stories very fascinating!! I also love to hear adoption stories if anyone else wants to share!! My labor with Tessa lasted around 21 hours from the first contraction. The only pain medication they gave me was morphine (yes, MORPHINE!) "so I could sleep". That stuff was awful! I still felt ALL the pain, but I could no longer walk or move. Luckily, my pain wasn't very bad anyway. The helpful nurse I had told me I had LONG way to go and laughed when I said I was in pain at 10:45pm. Tessa was born at the stroke of midnight, so I got to pick her birthday!! We went with my grandpa's birthday (which was the day I was in labor).

Sawyer's labor was decidedly quicker! I went in and had my water broke at 5:30pm. He was born at 9:05pm! But the pain was BAAAD! I always say I would take my 21 hour labor over this 3.5 hour labor any day! They gave me something for the pain that worked really good about 45 minutes before I had him. It let me rest between contractions, which was very helpful (before I got the meds, it felt like one constant contraction).

I have been to every joanns the only hancock and a all the walmarts I can find within 2 hours from me and I cannpt find any minnie dot fabric. I need two yards if any of you have some and are willing to part with would you please pm me. I am working on the girls xmas day disney dresses. TIA.

Has anyone PMed you yet? I know there was some minnie dot left in my sister's local store the last time I was there.

If there was a drooling smiley, it would be right here----> I LOVE the fabrics in this jacket! The Lady and the Tramp, Jungle Book, and Dumbo ones are my favorites!

I am officially turning into the daughter my Mother always wanted!:scared1:
Princess Leigh thinks she's a "model"! Good thing you can't see her legs in these photos!:rotfl:
:rotfl2: The daughter your mother always wanted!! LOL!
She IS a model! She's such a beauty!

We actually paid a man to install them and they are worth the money for the peace of mind it brought! Actually, they were very reasonable, I think $16 for each door. Either way, after that 10 minutes of panic I would have paid any price. Love the idea of the jingle bell alarm!

Tessa escaped when she was just over 2 years old. I ran to the bathroom and when I came out, she was gone. The front door was wide open (it had been deadbolted), so I knew where she was. Luckily, our 4 month old miniature schnauzer puppy was out there to protect her. :lmao: Did I mention that Tessa was also naked? Yup, she was naked! We lived in a really close subdivision at the time, so I'm sure the neighbors thought I was a wonderful mother! Oh, another time, I looked out on the back deck and there she was- making #2 right there on the deck. Yup, she was naked that time too. That girl didn't like to wear clothes.

Okay, talk about hogging the posts! Teresa Joyce is not even bothering to say something new, just reposting her old posts! Geesh!
That's how she is in real life, too. She'll just repeat herself to remain the center of attention! :rotfl2: :upsidedow

Really, really adorable! That fabric looks so comfy, cozy. It looks hard to make doll clothes. Too little for me! I thought the dogs were SUPPOSED to be upside down on Snow White's pajamas so she could see them better!
You're absolutely right, I just do that on purpose on occasion. :rolleyes1

You guys must think I am an ogre! LOL

I don't think you're an ogre at all!! I think it's wonderful that you help out on the Dis! Hey, we have to have some rules! Although, the rules I make up aren't all that helpful. :rolleyes1

All of these labor and delivery stories are sending me back to a SCARY place.:scared1: My entire pregnancy was awful, I was deathly sick for 4 months straight. My water broke at 1:30am and I didn't deliver until 6:20pm via emergency c-section! It was terrible, I had been pushing for 4 hours and suddenly the nurse runs out of the room and the next minute she walks in dressed in mask, scrubs, the whole works and says we have to get the baby out NOW! i WAS FREAKING OUT! Apparently my fever had spiked to over 102 and my dd was under a lot of stress! Thank goodness I had an epidural because it saved them alot of time! I can't imagine you gals without any pain meds, I definitely would not have done that again!:rotfl: My second was a planned c-section however my water broke 2 weeks early, just as it did with my first dd but it was so much easier. I checked into the hopital around 11:00pm and my dd was born at 12:16am. Hows that for fast!:thumbsup2 But NO MORE! I am completely done. I am happy with my two little angels, our family is complete!:grouphug: Okay this is a super ling post, SORRY!:flower3:

And I must say, DH does occasionally remind DS "Luke, I am your Father!" in his best Darth voice  I have a great picture of Luke Skywalker that I am trying to CASE. Anyhow, I found McCall's 4103 which is like a Karate type outfit. I found some (girls-shhhhh!) ivory colored leggings at Wal-Mart so I bought some ivory fabric and I am going to tea-dye them to look like they've spent a little time on Tatooine. We'll have to see how my idea for the leg-wrap boot thingies (oh wait, apparently they are sand proof leg bindings) turns out because right now it sounds kind of silly. Let me know if any of you have any ideas for me! I just need to get out of the house to buy some black tea but DD2 has a fever and the car is at Costco getting a new tire. So much to do, so little time, so I sit here on the Disboards really making progress. :thumbsup2

I love to hear labor stories too!!

With my DS, I was induced one day past my due date at midnight. The petocin was started around 2 am, got an epidural some time after that and he was born just after 3 pm. I only pushed for about 15-20 minutes, he weighed 9lbs. 8oz. Right before I started pushing a lady came in that was a nursing teacher at the community college that was there with a group of her students. They were hoping to see some deliveries that day. I was the only one in labor the whole day and I think they were getting disappointed b/c they had seen any action all day. She asked if I minded if the girls came in while I had my son and I said "sure". That room became completely full when they all filed in. In the room was me (obviously), my DH, my doctor, 2 nurses tending to me, one waiting to tend to the baby, the instructor and about 6 girl students. They were very excited! Right after I delivered my son, I noticed one of the girls looked familiar and she was a sister to one of my good friends! They actually got to come back the next day and do some check-up work with me.

With my DD, I was induced 8 days before my due date b/c I didn't want to be in the hospital on Christmas morning with a 3 year old at home waiting on Santa. I had been having monthly ultrasounds while I was pregnant since I was 18 weeks (they saw a spot on her liver and couldn't tell what it was so they kept an eye on it). The spot disappeared when I was 7 months pregnant but they knew that she was already big and wanted to keep an eye on her weight so she didn't get too big. Anyways, I went in 8 days before my due date at 6:30 am and they started the petocin around 8 am and the epidural was started sometime after that. The epi wore off one side and they never really got the pain to subside. I pushed for like 3 minutes and my DD was born at 12:30 pm. She weighed 9lbs. 9oz.

This is totally what I want my DD to have to wear for Christmas morning!!!!! Which YCMT pattern did you use? Any helpful tips? I also want her to have a "Mop cap" for her little head for those pics!!!!

So we can't really mention "search XYZ" anymore either? I just think it's a shame. I know it has turned some away from this thread and this board. Oh well. I personally really liked when people said "Hey look at this on e bay" it gave good ideas, and helped to find bargains.

What I don't understand is we can go pages and pages on our Star Wars discussions, pregnancy pictures, wedding pictures etc, and we certainly don't care about space there. It's one of the reasons I keep coming back to this thread. I enjoy the silliness of it all. I guess I will never understand it all. Thanks for trying to explain it though.

I just love you, sister! :rotfl2: I dig that all of us are doing fur cuffs on our dd's! Leigh really should model! Shoot, I'd buy whatever she was selling.

WOW!!!! Are you the one who put out the request for little pieces of Disney fabric a while back? (I can't "bemember"). Please do a tutorial so we can all CASE (or CAB in my case) you! I love LOVE LOVE it! Maybe I'll do a princess themed one since I have a Boatload of different princess fabrics.
oh since everyone has loved fur cuffs. wanted to post what Jojo wore to school today. she took these pics 2 weeks ago but finally got to wear the outfit! yep and those are removeable fur cuffs!

I had a horrible labor with DD it kept starting and stopping Contractions all night and then they would stop when I went to the hospital. So after about a week of this finally my water broke on New's years Day! I was due on Dec. 24 They couldn't send me home after that. But I wasn't dialating just contracting. They gave me pitocin all night. I was fine if I could sit up or walk but the nurses wouldn't let me they wanted me to lay down and be quiet. (My mom said they were trying to watch tv. I was the only one in labor)

So they lied and told me my midwife said to get an epidural. It barely worked and it came out of my back once. I could still feel my legs too. Thankfully they fixed that for the c-section I couldn't feel anything.

DD was Face up and I couldn't push her out so finally on Jan. 2 I had a c-section. She was 8 lbs 15 oz

DS was even worse. I had a planned c-section but the day before I had contractions all day long. Then that night I went to the hospital because it hurt so bad. I had a bad bladder infection. So I got an iv of antibiotic, and they wanted to give me something else but they said it would work so fast I would fall over if I didn't lay down but it HURT to lay down.

Finally they gave it to me but it still hurt. So they got the guy to give me an epidural and that helped. Then morning came and the Dr. came to do the c - section. Well as they operated I could feel her cutting which was awful and I kept saying I can feel that I can feel it. Next thing I know I am waking up all alone. They took me to my room and there was DH and my DS. The Dr. told me the reason he wouldn't drop down and I wasn't dialating with him was that he had his hand up by his head. He was 9 lbs 11 oz

So those are my labor stories. I never tell them to first time moms though.

For all y'all without avatars by your username- why don't you have an avatar by your username? If you're not sure what an avatar is, mine is Tessa with Cinderella there on the left.

I didn't know how to put one by my name for the longest time. Now I do. But I don't know how to use one of my own pictures.

Ok here's my avatar for now I gotta learn how to put my own pic in. Oh good someone got the mickey head posted I was just going to do that.

More of my labor story:
With my 1st- My waterbroke 3 days after my due date I was at home folding laundry and thought my bladder gave way on me- so i didn't say anything just waddled all wet up the stairs and went to the bathroom when I sat down the fluid just kept trickling so I called for DH and told him it was time to call the hospital. He asked them what to do- they said come in but not to hurry as I was not having any contractions yet. So we took our time both took showers and I shaved my legs for one last time- It was january and up here in the north we like to have a little insulation if you know what I mean. So we got to the hospital around 9pm and about 6am they started pitocin as I was not progressing fast enough. I went from 4cm-10cm in 2.5 hrs. Sarted pushing at 8:30am and he was born at 9:07am. With my 2nd I was having contractions off and on for 2 weeks before she was born. They kept getting closer & closer then just stop!!! So when my husband got up in the am to get ready for work and I had been up for a couple hours walking up and down our street I said this is it- we are going in she is coming TODAY!! It was 8 days past my due date. So we went in I was only dilated to 3 but was having regular contractions 5-8 minutes apart- the triage nurse checked in with the dr. about all the triage patients then came back and said the dr. thought I had suffered enough and they were going to let me stay- hoorah!!!! So we called everyone and got settled in to our room and I walked and walked then the dr. said I should get moving so they put me on pitocin again around 4pm. Things got bad then and they let me sit and rock in the chair which helped alot. I had to get in bed after a while then all of a sudden or so it seemed it was time to push, but where was the dr.- She was in surgery then they told me not to push- WHAT DON'T PUSH- needless to say they got another dr. to fill in til she got there. When the baby wants to come it comes it does not wait for the dr. get out of surgery!!! DS was 7 lbs. 8oz. and DD was 7 lbs. 11oz.
Ok sorry that it is so long.....

Well here is my labor story or I guess I should say stories...

I was in labor for 26 hours with my DD6, I thought I could be tough and not have an epidural. I sucked it up for a LOOOOONG time, I finally decided to get the epidural when I was climbing up the back of the bed with every contraction. It was 8 oclock and I was 8 cm at the time. After the epidural I really stalled out and started acting "drunk" from the previous drugs. I was then able to fall asleep for a little bit, my Dr. kind of forced this on me a little as he was delivering 5 people that night and we were all at 9 cm so he had to slow some and speed up others. I luckily got to take the slow route, but then he gave me pitocin to finish dialating so he could go to bed! He then had me start pushing before I was fully dialated, he said I was close enough...then after over two hours of pushing I he was tired and he just gave me an episiotomy and vaccumed my DD out. I think the episiotomy was just about the worst part of the whole thing, especially the healing...my DD was a healthy 8lbs 7oz.

Fast forward 14 months and 2 days and I am back in the delivery room with my DS5. This time I LOVE the Dr. that is on rotation, much more personable and he just had a baby the week before so he was very sympathetic towards laboring women!!! Oh and did I say he is GORGEOUS too! I was only in labor for about 12 hours and pushed for about hour and a half. He did have the cord loosely around his neck and needed oxygen, but he was 9lbs 8 oz. His weight was totally unexpected even the Dr. said that he was definitely not any bigger than my DD was...haha he was only a whole pound and an ounce bigger!!!! BTW I walked in and demanded the epidural immediately!:thumbsup2

Then we thought we were done after our first two but to our surprise...last year we had our DS1 which was by far my scariest delivery!!! My Dr.(had the same one as with the 2nd baby) kept a very close eye on my size this time. After doing an ultra sound 3 weeks before due date he estimated the size at about 8 1/2 pounds, so he set me to be induced on his next on call day about a week later(about 2 weeks early). I went into the hospital at about 8 am and by the time I was hooked up to IVs and got the pitocin going it was about 9 am. I really didn't have any contractions until they cranked it up at about 1pm then a few hours later I was finally in a good contraction pattern and ready for my epidural. After I was relaxed with my epidural I pretty much fully dialated within an hour or so. But in this time, I started getting a fever and they said if I didn't have the baby by 8 then I would have to have a c-section because of infection. I was pushing by now and it was my easiest pushing yet, the baby was coming out fast(for me). Then all heck broke loose, my happy go lucky Dr suddenly had fear in his eyes. I was given oxygen, and my DS's hand was delivering with his head and he had to push it back in, then his shoulders got stuck and the nurses had to start pushing on my stomach to get the baby out ASAP. My DS came out with assistance and then he had the cord very tightly wrapped around his neck. He was blue and not crying. NICU came rushing in and it was 2 very long minutes until he cried. I was so scared but everything turned out ok and he weighed in at 9lbs(thank God he wasn't delivered two weeks later!) and had a broken collar bone from being stuck. All of this clearly had no affect on him as he is behind me right now trashing the dining room! Gotta go! Sorry this was so long, the more babies you have the more stories I guess, no more stories for me!!!:goodvibes

Beth----So we can't mention congratulations? Are we allowed to say "search for this"??? It seems like we can't say a word about e bay, but it's okay for people to have their e bay id listed? I'm just confused a little? Is it really that we are not allowed to mention anything to do with e bay? Please don't give me infractions for this. I think I am just trying to get specifics that others are too afraid to ask about.

im gonna speak up too.... i thought this boards was a "custom clothes" thread??? that being said, some of us are as talented in the sewing dept, so shouldnt we be allowed to say we bought them from ebay, walmart, etc? im just so confused! are these ebay rules ( i would think not as to the mention can only help their business) or is this a dis rule? and if it is a dis rule, whats the big deal to say "congrats on your ebay listing" or "i bought my socks to match from ebay" ?

please know that im asking w/ all sincerity (sometimes you cant tell how someone is "saying" something when its typed). i really just want to know cause i like to know the reason behind why something is.

thanks for taking the time to clear this up.

Labor story -

I never got to experience labor :woohoo: About 2 months before my due date during a routine ultrasound my Dr. found that DD was breech and that my amniotic fluid was low. He said that if she didn't turn he would have to do a c-section. For the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy I took a non-stress test and had an ultrasound done weekly. 3 weeks before my due date, the fluid level was dangerously low. I was scheduled for a c-section 2 days later. I was prepped and DH was all set to go into the operating room. They took me back first to give me the spinal. After they got it in he says lay back quickly, because it should start to take effect quickly. As I'm laying there FREEZING I'm wiggling my toes the whole time! Dr. asks why is she still moving her feet? The anethestioligst says it's just taking longer to work. My doctor pokes me and asks, can you feel that? Uh, yeah!! So he draws a line across my belly - "how about that?" Well, I can feel it on the left side! Yep the spinal only numbed half my body!! My Dr. gave me the choice - reposition the spinal and risk having a "spinal headache" afterwards or get knocked out. I must have looked at him funny because he says "We'll just put you under." That's pretty much the last thing I remember. Poor Dh was in my room waiting to be brought back - he was told it would only be a few minutes. I'm not sure when he was told - everything's still a little hazy!! DD was in the nursery for the first 2 days with respitory problems. I didn't even get a chance to see her until 11:00 that night!!

With DS I choose to have another c-section. At about 8 months I asked my doctor if he was breech or if he had turned - he was breech in my ultrasound. She says he's not breech - I can feel his head here, and this is rump up here. Fast forward to his delivery...Oh my, she says he's breech! "I told you so!!" BTW - I was only numb on half my body again, bu they were prepared this time. They said I am resistant to the spinal!!

We wanted to name are youngest Luke also, but we couldn't get past the "Luke I am your Father" thing running in our minds.

Please share which pattern you're using for Luke? I'm going to JoAnn's later today to get some of the .99 patterns & some fabric! We have a "let's pretend" box of costumes to use year round & DS(3) would love a jedi costume & light saber!!!! This is what I made him for Christmas Eve pj swap last year......

where or where did you find this fabric???? my ds would FLIP OUT for this! he too it going as luke skywalker for halloween this year. i usually dress he and dd in pairs. they were snow white and dopey last year, peter pan and tink the year before. so this year he decided he wanted to be luke. because he knows i like the pairs thing, he suggested that emma be yoda and ride on his back!:rotfl: i told him no cause shes almost as big as he is and weighs almost as much too! so then we thought we had her talked into princess leia, but she switched a few weeks ago to her fave standby- cinderella (at least its the rag dress for a change!)

but noah decided to be difficult and request "black jedi luke as he enters jabbas palace". and of course, they dont sell that one at target! so heres what i did (am still doing actually)

*found a $5 darth maul costume that we can used the black pants from (they even already have the "boots" attached)
* bought black long sleeve shirt
* created a black jedi robe from a mccalls costume pattern (you can even use riding hood and just make it longer cause lukes robe had no arms)
* went to website http://www.degraeve.com/jedirobe/ to get some specifics and even made my tshirt appear as a tunic with some criss cross fabric

oh my just realized i was babbling! sorry!

can't wait to go!

I just got our photopass so I'll be able to post some pictures, hopefully tomorrow, my iMac should either be fixed or at the Apple Store tomorrow. There are some really good ones of Delaney's outfits.

Well, no root canal today for me, instead I will be visting the oral surgeon earlier than expected on Monday and those 4 pesky wisdom teeth and the three others that need fixing will all be pulled then. So much for getting caught up on my sewing... I just got some more fabric on my way home. I just have to plan a little more for the outfits for our Nov./Dec. trip. I'm hoping to be able to be up and working by the middle of next week. I'm going to move my sewing machine in here to the bedroom while my hubby keeps our DD out with him, he'll be working from home most of next week.

Labor was interesting. My water broke at 8:30 am, I finally ambled into the hospital around noon, they had been waiting for me, I had been waiting for some contractions. I hadn't really had any. One of the docs from my practice, the impatient one, put me on pitocin when I got there. I went from 2 1/2 - 3 cms to 6 in about 4 hours, then I opted for a little pain relief, I wasn't hurting a whole lot then but the doc coming on for the night was in a c-section, so I said sure, got a little nubain (good stuff by the way) and then decided I was brave enough on that stuff to have an epi. After that I went from 6 almost 7 cm to 10 in about an hour. Since L&D was so busy, I ended up taking a nap and we started pushing around 11:30. After 2 hours, we though I was just tired of pushing and we were going to stick the vacuum on Delaney's head and she'd be out, well little miss' shoulders were stuck, so I ended up with the push team, the pull team and the neonatal team since there was a little meconium in my amniotic fluid. She was finally extracted, without having to have her collar bone broken, and I took the brunt of the damage with a 4th degree tear but I have to say that I have nothing but love for my anestisiologist, I felt only the last two stitches. I was just so happy to have the baby out. It took me a few weeks to realize what sort of trouble we were in, let's just say even light narcotics knock me for a loop. I didn't think anything was too terrible but it sure hurt to sit down for the next 6-8 weeks while that horrible thing healed. I'm still waiting, 3 years later, for my high needs baby to chill out and quiet down, I'm guessing that's just not going to happen now. HA!

My delivery sounds far worse than it actually was when it happened. Better living through chemistry!

I need to find some more disney Christmas fabric, everything I've seen at Joann's is blue, I was hoping to find something in red or green. I also want to make a nice pair of embellished overalls, I have to practice some more applique so I feel more confident. I have a beautiful pair of dark red velvet overalls, I want to add cuffs to the bottom of the legs and then add cuffs to a long sleeve tee for DD to wear when she sees Santa at DTD.

I still haven't made DD's Mickey Halloween twirly top. I'm going to probably have to put that off until next year, I'll probably move onto her Thanksgiving outfit and the Christmas stuff for our trip.

I just hope my mac gets fixed tomorrow, I really need all my trip information off of it. I wish I had gotten that printed before DH took the machine with him to work.

I've got to go figure out what we're eating for dinner tonight. Then I'll be getting things ready all weekend for DH and DD to eat that he can just heat up. I'll be eating soup, jello, and mashed potatoes for the next week I'm sure.

Labor story -

I'm glad they figured out you were only half numb BEFORE they did anything!
When I had Lydia (planned c-section) the anestheshia worked really fast, and I felt like I couldn't breathe, my ears started ringing, and I thought I might be dying. It was pretty scary. They said something about my blood pressure dropping because the anesthesia had kicked in so quickly.

where or where did you find this fabric???? my ds would FLIP OUT for this! he too it going as luke skywalker for halloween this year. i usually dress he and dd in pairs. they were snow white and dopey last year, peter pan and tink the year before. so this year he decided he wanted to be luke. because he knows i like the pairs thing, he suggested that emma be yoda and ride on his back!:rotfl: i told him no cause shes almost as big as he is and weighs almost as much too! so then we thought we had her talked into princess leia, but she switched a few weeks ago to her fave standby- cinderella (at least its the rag dress for a change!)

but noah decided to be difficult and request "black jedi luke as he enters jabbas palace". and of course, they dont sell that one at target! so heres what i did (am still doing actually)

*found a $5 darth maul costume that we can used the black pants from (they even already have the "boots" attached)
* bought black long sleeve shirt
* created a black jedi robe from a mccalls costume pattern (you can even use riding hood and just make it longer cause lukes robe had no arms)
* went to website http://www.degraeve.com/jedirobe/ to get some specifics and even made my tshirt appear as a tunic with some criss cross fabric

oh my just realized i was babbling! sorry!

Sound like it's all coming together! I bookmarked that site too! Thanks!

I just wanted to say a quick goodbye. We leave in the morning and will be returning on Tuesday! Have a good weekend everyone and I will have a ton of photos to post when I get back!! Happy Sewing everyone!

I just got our photopass so I'll be able to post some pictures, hopefully tomorrow, my iMac should either be fixed or at the Apple Store tomorrow. There are some really good ones of Delaney's outfits.

Well, no root canal today for me,

My delivery sounds far worse than it actually was when it happened. Better living through chemistry!

.
Aww, how are you feeling? I know you said that tooth was really bothering you.

I like that, better living through chemistry! Your labor sounds pretty bad though, even with chemistry!

OK, we had the coolest day today. The Doodlebops are going to be at Altell Arena tomorrow, but we aren't getting to go. I haven't even told dd4 about it. Well, I heard the end of a commercial a couple of days ago about them signing autographs at a Wal-Mart somewhere in town. So I called today to find out when & where & it all worked out so we got to go meet them. DD4 just had this absolutely amazed look on her face when I told her what we were going to do & sdhe gave me the biggest hug ever! When we got there & she could finally see them in front of us, she just grinned & giggled like you wouldn't believe. She was so excited! They signed her cd liner notes & talked to her & gave her high 5's. She wore her Minnie dot top & since it's finally decided to be fall around here & had her wear her black long sleeved top under it. DeeDee told her she looked just like Minnie Mouse. I think that made dd's day as much as anything else. I've got a few pics, I just need to get them uploaded.
