Good Monday Morning - I missed the last of the Part 5 thread - we headed to SeaWorld for the weekend with friends.
Great fun, but I miss Disney. We did stay at AKL and enjoyed our vacation villa overlooking the Savanna.
Now it is back to work Monday and back to cruise planning.
No way I will be able to head back to Part 5 and catch up so I if did not reply to a post, sorry about that......

I see it was the 75 day posters time to book. It seems the fish were once again swimming......merrily along.
Swim, swim, swim the fish,
right across the screen.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
I really want to scream.
All together now.....

A Tale of Tails (Part Deux)
I heard back from Tuxxman. MUCH cheaper to buy a set of tails than to rent them.
I'm going to try to phone him either today or tomorrow to see what all of the "bits" I would need.
I've always wanted to own a set of tails.
As my departed mother always said,
"It's never done until it's overdone."

Morning Thieves pirate:
WHY is it I can't sleep any longer than 6 hours...I NEED SEVEN! Maybe at 6:30 I'll go see if I can fall back asleep for an hour.
In a couple of days, if Palo doesn't show up (as there have been times when it would miraculously show up around day 73 or so), I will start another list to submit for a group reservation at Palo. If you are not already on a list and want to try for one, PM me with your name, DCL reservation number and stateroom (OR which Cat GTY you have).
Cheri, I went ahead and put you on my list, as I did not see your name on any of the existing lists. Michelle, I have you and your mom too...just need your 'details'.
75 days left to DIET! :hourglass

Michelle, you will enjoy parasailing....honest! I'm anxious about hights (like looking over the rail in an atrium building/mall makes me woozy), but I loved parasailing. It is so PEACEFUL and QUIET up there.
Marr, for page one...Bunco is on the SECOND sea day.

I tried to get brunch or dinner, nothing was available - I'm so bummed. But I'll just send DH to the line when we board! I'm sure we can get in. On our cruise in January we actually had dinner there twice because we were on the list for any cancellations.

Good morning everyone.
Just thought I would make a quick post as I try and catch up and to mark this thread.
Last night's excursion booking went ALOT smoother than it did at the 90 day mark. I got my Aunt's stuff all booked (same excursions as us) all done in 16 minutes. Could have even booked a Palo's but she didn't want one. Got online at 9:00pm and was done booking by 9:16pm. Fishies weren't even a problem.
Guess there weren't that many people online last night??

We'ld like to be able to get something as well but we are taking the DCL transfer from the Poly and won't arrive until after 1:00pm. I'm sure by then all the slots will be taken. :sad2:

DS10 begged me to let him stay up and watch Oscars last night. I'm such a bad mom that I let him. Now his teachers will have to deal with a cranky kid today. I'm sooo bad. Well, DS10 and I had fun watching last night anyway. Not the most exciting show IMHO. DS and I ended up in a tie on our Oscar pool. We each got 10 categories right. I didn't see all the movies this year, so I was kind of picking what I liked and not necessarily what would win.
We also had champagne and Marinelli's sparkling cider in real champagne flutes. DS luvs that stuff (the cider, not the champagne ;) ).
Off to strip more wallpaper. DS has decided he wants his own room, so we're redecorating the guest bedroom. And of course the wallpaper that's in there now just won't do. :rolleyes2 I hate stripping wallpaper.

Last Saturday I had a lovely times with my 6 friends and mother in law. We went to Italian Restaurant for lunch. My mother in law went home after lunch and took my birthday presents. We went to Standing Order (Pub) and had three glass of champagne (m&c). It was good afternoon to catch up all the news. We left about 9 pm to met my husband. I was surprised to see him as he was drunking and I was fine.:lmao: :lmao: As he was watching the rugby with his friends, drinking the guniness:drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 !!!
Yesterday he gave me the fitness bike for my birthday :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: He fixed it up and leave it in my bedroom perhap he try to tell me to get fit before the holiday!! I was trying for 2half mins I was out of my :crazy2:
Today I got the cold:headache:  and my daughter have two tickets for High School Musical and she got the new clothes Red top with skirt for tonight. She is looking forward to.
I went to shopping this morning and feel a bit rough and went home. I had a good sleep for 3 hours today. I hope I will enjoy tonight at Playhouse.
Good News

I was up at 5 am to see if any more high tea to change the times as it was nothing so far as it went very smooth than 90 days!!
I booked the excursion for Acapulco as I changed my mind after I read the cruise critic about Acapulco. I don't think it is safe place for us as we might not communication with them??

Keep checking. Something might open up. I still want brunch, but we don't plan to be on the ship terribly early either. I've found the lines at the terminal are super short or nonexistent if you arrive later. So I don't know if we will get brunch. Not a huge deal to us, but it would be nice.

I was able to book two more excursions a piece. Cant find the golf outing for Acapulco and the canopy tour was not available for PV. Oh, well, I guess I'll just keep swimming...........pirate:
No Palo open. Was hoping to be able to get booked for the night of our anniversary. I'll check once we get on board.
I know I've posted here before but it's been awhile. Getting excited for the repo!!

Good News
At school this morning, the reception gave me the letter to say that it is accepted that kids will be off school for this Cruise.

My son come home now and I told him the news, he is so happy.
I was up at 5 am to see if any more high tea to change the times as it was nothing so far as it went very smooth than 90 days!!
I booked the excursion for Acapulco as I changed my mind after I read the cruise critic about Acapulco. I don't think it is safe place for us as we might not communication with them??
I booked the Acapulco City Tour with Cliff Divers for all of us as it will be 5 hours.
I cannot believe this is Part 6 already, as I will reading Part 5 I think missed 30 pages so far??

Didn't go so smoothly for me. The fishies were swimming for hours. After 90 minutes I had only booked one excursion for me and one for DH and then I had to go to bed........jury duty today. Thank god Phoenix's court house is in the 21st century and has Wifi.
Somebody else had a bad time with the fish - 4+ hours. Funny how it went well for some and not others.:confused3

:hourglass
.
My god when you say it like that..................:crazy2: No way I can be where I want in 75 days.

That's great. You guys are going to look wonderful! ::yes::

BTW..how crappy did jennifer hudson look. Her ****s were going left and right and not in a good way...she should have been wearing a bra! hahahahahaha
I thought the exact same thing. She was one of the highlighted performers on the 2006 Disney Vacation Club Cruise. (Did you know she was originally a CM on the Disney Wonder and performed on the ship?) She was quite nervous to perform in front of those that she had previously worked for. I took my mom and sister on that cruise and we were invited up to the bridge and my mom and sister got to blow the Mickey Whistle as we were leaving Castaway Cay. When we met at the appointed time, Jennifer and her boyfriend came out of their stateroom (right by the bridge) and came along too and Jennifer blew the Mickey whistle also. I've got pictures somewhere. Anyway, that night she performed, did an awesome job, but she had the same problem there. Her dress was awful. She needs to fire her clothes designer. (On the member cruise, it was right before Dreamgirls was released, so no one had seen it yet.)

Hey Monica, It did take some time. Exactly how much I think is different for everyone. I would say that it took me a couple of weeks to get use to the mask. I do wear the comfort gel that goes over my nose. Getting use to the hose was the hardest part. Just give it some time and before you know it you will have more energy during the day and be having restful nights. The dreams I remember did not start right away, but you will know when they do hit you. Some nights now I don't recall any, but other nights, wow, I wake up with vivid recollections of them.

Maybe they are still holding some back for onboard bookings? Ah well, I'm sure there must be some cancellations that will happen during the cruise.

Ok everybody...
Here's my letter to Mr Iger...
I guess I should send it to Mr. McAlpin too...
(Couldn't let all of you 90 dayers have all the fun writing!!! (BTW... Michael Eisner hated hearing from me too... I'm sure I have a file and the reaction is going to be "Oh.. %$*# she's back...")
Dear Mr. Iger:
In December of this year I booked what will be my first cruise on the Disney Cruise Line.
We will be sailing on the May 10th Panama Canal Repositioning Cruise. I have looked forward to each aspect of this trip due to the overwhelming guest satisfaction I have heard about.
Our experience so far has been a satisfactory, except when dealing with the online reservations for Palo. When I signed on to get my excursion and dining, I was able to get the first but was shut out entirely from reserving Palo in any form. I do understand that there are many return cruisers who were able to book at the 105 & 90 day mark, but you have blatantly excluded all of the 75 day cruisers from booking a dinner, brunch or tea at all!!!
This is not acceptable for a company that is so well known for its guest service. Seeing as the people who booked at the 90 day mark spent hours upon hours even trying to access the site, (yes, I am a member of the Disboards…) let alone reserve anything, excluding the first time cruisers from any chance to reserve Palo is unacceptable. The reservations should have been evenly distributed among the dates to let both repeat and new cruisers get the chance to experience Palo.
As of now I have been given the instructions from one of the Cast Members at DCL to check back daily (but not to make it my life’s work…) to see if reservations open up and to get on line at Rockin D Bar to see if I can, (in my words “BEG”) for a opening. Instead of enjoying my first day at sea I will begin it in line with all of the other people (both 90 & 75 day people) who were shut out of the process.
This cruise is to be a special one for my mother and I. She will be celebrating her 76th birthday on May 13th and I had hoped to be able to dine in Palo that evening. It has taken her 76 years to go on a cruise… I wanted this one to be special. I would also appreciate the chance to experience brunch as well.
I have been a loyal guest at your resorts since my first visit with my family as a child in 1972. There are many aspects of the Walt Disney Company that I admire which keeps me returning to your resorts over and over. One of those being guest services. At your resorts I am treated like a family member coming home. I hope that I can say the same for Disney Cruise Line.
If you are able to assist me in this matter, I would greatly appreciate it.
Sincerely

Hello...I'm back! I was hoping to sleep in this morning after being up until 2 am booking but my darlings woke me up at 5:45 instead! Maybe tomorrow or tonight I'll catch up on my sleep! Oh well!!!
But I'm not willing to back track right now, so I was just wondering who was going to try and organize a group for Palo Brunch! My parents and I would love to be included on this if it isn't already full as we didn't get any ressies!! Thanks!!!

Dear Mr. Iger:
If you could let me know where to find his email address and any others. I would like to send a letter with my thoughts. While booking excursions last night was not a problem, we were done in a few minutes. But like you and others, we were not able to book anything at Palo's. I wanted to treat my wife to Palo's for our anniversary and were disappointed on not finding any reservations open. I do not look forward to standing in line the first day.
Thanks in advance for the info.

Now that everything is booked could someone tell me how to pay into our on board credit? I know there is an account with a balance, that we received when we paid in full. I would like to make additional deposits to it while we have money.

I think I am ready to melt my Disney Visa, and not in the spending lots of money way. We ordered a Rewards Card for the first time before our cruise last year. I only took the minimum of things from my wallet and managed to leave it home, which I realized as soon as we got on board. They could not do anything to let me spend it on that trip. I read on the boards that you could just call and have them apply it to your balance, so I did that for this trip. Now I've read that if you pay for any portion with Rewards, you don't get the Disney Visa $50 OBC !@#$! I have my TA checking on it and if it is true I'm writing a letter to Mr Igor. This visa has cost way more than it has saved and I'm ready to be done, I'm coming back United Miles!

Almost done now. DS7 now says he wants to redecorate his room when DS10 moves out, but I said "no way." He has to wait until he is 10 and then I said I will redecorate however he wants. Their room currently has this cool castle wallpaper and I am in no mood to take it down at the moment. :crazy2:

Hi there - that rule for the $50.00 is a Visa (Chase) thing, not a Disney thing so you may want to contact Chase (they put that condition on there, not Disney---Disney doesn't care as long as they get paid). I had this looked into as well. I used my Rewards card to call in more OBC.
I'm sure that's not what you want to hear, but since I'd been through it too figured I'd let you know.

My sister and I were on a Wonder cruise and saw her perform! Of course, that was before anyone knew who she was but I remembered being blown away by her performance. I talked to her briefly to tell her how much I enjoyed it. I of course didn't make the connection until I read an article that talked about her time on the Wonder. She was going to renew her contract with DCL but a friend told her about the American Idol auditions and she decided to go for it. Guess that was a good decision.

That is true. Before I started using the Disney Visa I thoroughly read the rules and regulations (back in my career days I managed US Navy contracts so I'm in the habit of reading EVERY details of everything...drives DH crazy) and I did read in order to get the $50 OBC the entire cruise had to be paid for using the Disney Visa. It would still apply if you made payments, as long as the payments were made with the Disney Visa. That's a bummer...it's certainly worth it to try to see if you can still get it, but from what I know of contracts, the terms and conditions were stated in the literature that came with the card, odds are they won't do anything for you. :sad2: Let us know how it turns out!

I went to shopping this morning and feel a bit rough and went home. I had a good sleep for 3 hours today. I hope I will enjoy tonight at Playhouse.
Good News
At school this morning, the reception gave me the letter to say that it is accepted that kids will be off school for this Cruise.

I was up at 5 am to see if any more high tea to change the times as it was nothing so far as it went very smooth than 90 days!!
I booked the excursion for Acapulco as I changed my mind after I read the cruise critic about Acapulco. I don't think it is safe place for us as we might not communication with them??

Sincerely
Michelle B. Lauzon

Carol,
Before we booked it, I asked the head teacher and she said it should be OKAY, that was last year April, now new rules, new strict started last month because too many parents take their children out of school for cheaper holiday! My boss wrote the letter that I am working through the summer holiday. The school accepted it now. PHEW. Look like difficult to get children off for the future. So we won't do it again in future:sad: as our first times done that.
It will be a great memory for our children and it will be good experience too.

Ok...dumb question:
I paid the entire balance for the cruise by Disney Visa. So I am eligible for the $50 OBC from them. I also have $600 OBC from DU. How do I apply my Disney Rewards card to my shipboard account? I would call to be sure. When I booked with DU back in Jan '07 I made sure they told DCL about the $50 Disney Visa credit. After I paid in full I called DCL and confirmed all the OBCs they showed...$400 for DU and $50 for the Disney Visa. I'm pretty sure DU had to mention the OBC Disney Visa code when DU made the booking with DCL in order for you to get it....so check into with DU and then call DCL if you don't get a good answer from DU!

Now, to find an actual store where I can try them on in person!

Ok...dumb question:
I paid the entire balance for the cruise by Disney Visa. So I am eligible for the $50 OBC from them. I also have $600 OBC from DU. How do I apply my Disney Rewards card to my shipboard account? My plan would be to use up all OBCs, THEN use up my Disney Rewards, THEN put the rest on Visa (if there is any left.) Will this work?
I always wait till I'm on the ship...then turn in my rewards card to cover whatever expenses go beyond my OBCs.

do I need a wireless router for home or should I just piggyback? clueless....
That depends, do you have a home network and/or a DSL modem or high speed internet hook up. (cable, or?) If you have High Speed hook up of some sort rather than dial up modem service I would go with a wireless router. That way all PCs and/or MACs can share the high speed access. You may have to add a wireless card to older PCs and/or MACs:badpc: but it would be worth the cost. If you don't have the knowhow to set this up:badpc: you might want to think about using the BestBuy Geek Squad.

Hey I know several people who have had a Septoplasty done to end their headaches. Each time it worked like magic to end the pain. One friend got the migraine type headaches with PMS every month. Come to find out it was the swelling in her nose that caused the pain and not really a true migraine. After the nose spur was fixed (took like 45 minutes) she never had any pain again. So if that's what you have you may soon be pain free! :cheer2:

Once you get the Disney Rewards card just call DCL and have them apply it to OBC. They will treat it like a regular cc.
Don't know if there is an order as to how they use up the OBC, but if there is a balance left over on your account, you get to use a regular cc.

So many things I wanted to comment on from last night . . . just could not pass this one up though.
John, come down from your soapbox.
I have had 2 macs, I have one now that sits in the cupboard iMac from 2002 I thought I would use it for "personal stuff" because they can be easier, but it was just a pain not to have the other business stuff on it too....we also have 7 or 8 pcs. The mac just doesn't do what a pc does for business apps. They work for different people for different things, not for everyone for everything.
Nan,
True in 2002, but not true in 2008. Since Macs now run on Intel processors, Macs can run Windows as well as the Mac OS. Best of both worlds (Miley Cyrus of computers?:rotfl2:) if you really want it. PC magazine has rated Macs as the best laptops, and the towers are priced better than a Dell for the same performance. Any of those business apps will run on a Mac with Windows installed. My MS Office files are completely interchangeable with Office at work.
Don't mean to be on a soapbox. Hate to say it, but the people I have the most "fun" with on this issue tend to be the accountants I know . . .:rotfl2:
(You know I love ya Nan!)
morning,I have now learned closing one's laptop does not mean it turns off.
This made me laugh V . . . what did you end up getting?
Not trying to suck up to Lisa, but our entire office is HP - servers, desktops, and laptops. If I had to buy a Windows machine, I would buy HP. They run well, and are well put together.
3 nights now w/ the cpap machine....boy does my nose hurt! Can't tell if I'm sleeping any better or not....I wake up everytime I turn over as I'm afraid that I'm going to get disconnected from the machine (I did that the first night - don't think I had the hose on tight enough). Must say that each night it gets better (which I expected) and I expect it to continue to get better. I know most of you said that you then dream...nothing for me yet on that--or atleast not that I remember. :confused3
How long did it take you guys to feel like it was doing something???
Honestly Monica, for me, it was immediate. I know what you mean about the nose though. I go through phases of sensitivity. Sometimes it really bothers me, but most times not. Did you get a humidifier with it too? That seemed to help. A little trick with the hose that has seemed to help me . . . I always "hang" the hose from a bedpost or something above me on my side of the bed. That way it is coming down to me, instead of hanging over the side of the bed. This seems to make it more comfortable to move around.
Ok I just "stumbled upon" this video. Some of you may have already seen it as it has been making the rounds on the web. If you haven't seenit I recommend you have some tissue nearby. This one got to me.
This is Dr. Randy Pausch reprising his last lecture. It is quite moving, at least I found it to be...

Today I had the pleasure of dealing with Microsoft customer service on the phone. It is really too boring a story to tell (work issue with Micrsoft Outlook, upgrading from the trial to the real version that I had to get to sync my Blackberry) but boy, was I STEAMED!
They sent me to the Activation help guy, who was obviously not in the USA, and obviously reading from a decision tree script. Then he put me on hold to ask someone else, and came back with the same answer again, that I would have to take the product to my retailer (Best Buy) because they must have sold me an invalid license (right). I told him we obviously were not communicating, and he did not understand what I was trying to tell him (he kept parroting what he had said earlier). I then told him I guess I would just try to solve it on my own since he was no help at all. Which I then took my best guess - which worked.
I was also very frustrated with Microsoft's packaging at this point (I had to google how to open the package, and they actually have a page on their web site explaining how - how nuts is THAT?). And frustrated with their web site, that is so convoluted and poorly put together . . .

Good Choice.
Is anyone here a heavy MS Outlook user? Outlook 2007?
Before this, I have always used Outlook Express for email, and Palm Desktop for calendar and contacts since I had a Treo. I like the integration of all 3, but Outlook is confusing me a bit with some of it's organizational structure. (Like why does Mail have an address book separate from your contacts, but when I look in it it is empty? Or, why do email addresses not automatically pop up in the "To" field when I start to type - UNLESS I have at some time selected that person and at least pretended to send them an email?) To solve the second problem, I did a fake email, selected my ENTIRE contacts list, then cancelled it, and now the To field populates.
Like I said, Outlook is confusing me - any insight would be appreciated.

:cheer2:
Thank you for posting this. I am still learning about it. They put me on 2 meds for 3 weeks to see if they stop. If they do it is the spur and they will fix me. I am hoping this is what it is.

I felt that mine was doing something on the first night. It felt like I was walking into the wind and couldn't breath.:confused3 It got better by the next night. I just toughed it out. Now I can't do without it. I wake up fast if the power goes out. I have the mask version. I don't worry about rolling over and stuff. It seems to hang on okay. The strap was way too tight at first because I was afraid it would come off. My throat gets real dry sometimes, so I got a humidifier with my first machine. I haven't used it much in the last few years though. I just wake up and go get a glass of water. I have been on CPAP for 15 years now. WOW ! It doesn't seem like it. To go camping I use two battery jumper packs. Won't need them now that we have the RV. They would last for two nights each, and I could recharge them with the car if necessary. I used one to jump start a car for a family that was camping near us. That was after using it for two days for my CPAP. It's a good thing it was still charged a bit. They were the last ones in the campground, and we were way up in the mountains. They would have been stuck there for awhile. I was glad I offered. :thumbsup2
Anyway, the point is that a 12 volt cord and one of the battery packs is a good investment.

Yes Venetia. Wasn't it fun to dream again.Well, sometimes. I have had a few nightmares.:scared:

Well, I just signed a 6 month contract for Tyler's karate class. :crazy2: The class he was doing was just a 4 week trial at a very reduced rate through a township program. I mentioned to his dad that he's all done until I'm able to commit to monthly payments. He told me he'd hate to see him stop because he thinks it's been good for him (we've been hearing "yes sir" and "yes ma'am" very, very frequently!), so he told me he'll make alternating payments so we'll take turns doing the monthly payment. :thumbsup2 I offered to let him take Tyler to one of the 2 weekly classes on one of his days (because it's a flexible schedule, you just show up twice a week for whatever days you want) and of course he didn't want any part of that. Not surprising....he doesn't take him many places. OH well.....that just means I get to continue enjoying watching his class twice a week! It's so cute to watch those little kids! Oh...and he got his first stripe tonight. I think they have to earn 3 stripes to be eligible for graduation for each belt. He's very excited!

We did this in December. All you have to do is gve them the Rewards Card at the guest services desk when you board the ship. Tell them to start using the card when the OBC is used up. It worked out fine for us. There weren't any problems. It's probably better to wait until you board.

So many things I wanted to comment on from last night . . . just could not pass this one up though.
Nan,
True in 2002, but not true in 2008.
This made me laugh V . . . what did you end up getting?
Not trying to suck up to Lisa, but our entire office is HP - servers, desktops, and laptops. If I had to buy a Windows machine, I would buy HP. They run well, and are well put together.
Brings back memories Ken. I posted this a LONG time ago on our original thread. Worth a revisit though as it is very moving and inspirational.
I keep telling you to fly me down, and I will take of all of this for you! (I don't fix cars though . . .)
Goodanswers Captain Spanx. Good answers. You will need to stop by here on your way to V's. Even though it is out of the way. I need to create a Network here, but only have dial-up and Treo700p? How in the heck.......?

And frustrated with their web site, that is so convoluted and poorly put together . . .

Last in, first out. So, they use your OBC from them and your agent, then any OBCs you may have pre-bought, then your rewards card, then the OBC Aunt Matilda bought you as a present....IF Aunt Matilda's gift came AFTER your rewards card was submitted. If you don't use up all the money, in this example, Aunt Matilda would get $$ refunded to her.

One more comment on the cpap..My RT told me to try to keep the tubing covered with the sheets-that it prevents condensation from collecting in the tubing. I started out resting my hand on the tubing beside me and it seems to keep it from pulling away from the machine or around my nose. Another problem that I had was putting lotion on my face too close to the time I was putting on my cpap. It would cause the nasal pillows to slide a bit. I find that my mouth actually gets less dry at night-I also wear a mouth splint for TMJ and I don't know but I think that having the air blowing into my nose keeps me from sleeping with my mouth open. I always use the humidifier.
FYI, I have used the cpap since Oct., and never had a time when I thought a-hah I feel so rested, and felt like I had so much more energy. But I did notice that I wasn't sleeping as much, and didn't feel the need for naps. I haven't worn the machine for the past week because I have had a stuffy nose, and sore throat- couldn't breathe against the machine. I have been waking up exhausted again and can't hardly stay awake. I am looking forward to being able to get back to the cpap....Vicki
I have always dreamed-no real change pre/post for me.

Here too V. I have been puny since Friday morning. AUGH ! I have to take PE because Sudafed is Prescription here in wonderful Oregon. I can't use my CPAP without it, but it raises my BP a bit. Another AUGH ! Now I am losing my voice. I am sure a lot of people will be happy about that.:rotfl2:
What did you say? :mic:
