My beloved mom died on Feb. 18, 2008 after a 4 year, 1 month, 4 day battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was laid to rest yesterday, fittingly on George Washington's Birthday who was her favorite president.

I am an only child raised by a single mother and now my life is empty. My daughter (3) was the light of her life. everytime I look at Lucie I just cry. I know my mom is better now, able to walk and eat and is walking her beloved dog in heaven.

But my world is empty, like i'm grasping for something just out of reach...

Please keep my family in your prayers and hug your mothers....

I am so very sorry for your loss. I will say many many prayers for you and your daughter.

I just came from seeing my mother in the hospital. I love her dearly, and go daily, and know exactly what you are saying..

Godbless, and I am always around if you would like to talk, and I am a great listener..:grouphug:

Mom's hold a special place in our heart. I know when my Mom died I was devasted. Then my husband died 5 months later.

There are still moments I miss her and it has been 12 years. Please try to take comfort in the memories of her. We keep my mothers memory alive with stories my sisters and I tell our kids.

It does get softer. Talking about it does help so please feel free to post. We are here to listen and support. Prayers sent for all of you.

:grouphug: I'm so sorry for your loss.

You post on the John Hopkins board right? I used to read your posts every day. My mom also has pancreatic cancer. It's such a horrible disease.

I'm Julie in PA there. I am so sorry that your mom is fighting the beast also. I hope she is doing ok, and I will keep her in my prayers. Someday, they will find a cure for this awful cancer.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I lost my dad to cancer in 2003. It was very comforting for me to know that he is no longer suffering and is able to watch over my family. Even though you're not able to talk to your mother, realize that she will always be with you as she watches over you and your family. :grouphug:

I just got home from Florida with my DH, whom most of you know is battling Pancreatic Cancer. I think he looks thin and tired and I am worried, but we live our lives one day at a time.......we scan next week..

I wanted to say to Julie... what a valiant brave fight your Mom waged against this dread disease... I will keep you and your daughter in my prayers. Some only have months after this diagnosis, some make it a year, some a bit over 16 months... but you got 4 years with her, bravo to her for fighting as long as she did. HUgs, Hugs, Hugs..

And to the others who have lost loved ones to Cancer, please know that I think of you all and send positive energy when I can. Rustysmom, I am thinking of you as well as I know you are dealing with what I am dealing with now.

Please be brave all of you who are the caretakers and to those battling Cancer or any disease for that matter, I truly believe that sometimes miracles can happen. We can hope..
