Has anyone ever checked in at the terminal (with a cabin already assigned) and found out that they were upgraded? My TA said they have had this happen, but they didn't know what ship it was on....

I booked our category 12 cabin in November 2000 for our 12/20/01 Wonder cruise. We got a great price on it, added with an additional Fall Fantasy $75 discount and a $25 on board credit. Anyway, it wasn't until we checked in at the port that we found out we were upgraded to a category 9!!! We were thrilled and loved our BIG porthole window. We can't wait to go back and do a 7 day cruise. Hopefully lightening will strike twice!

We booked a category 11 for our January 2002 Wonder cruise. When we arrived at the port we were surprised with a category 5 upgrade! After I stopped jumping up and down (embarrassing DH and DD) the woman behind the counter asked me if I knew anyone in high places..lol

So yes, it does happen.

When we checked in on the Wonder August 2000 we had a category 9 cabin and had been bumped up to a category 6. The lady in the terminal asked if I played Lotto because we had just won a big upgrade.

When you booked your cruise, did you book a guarantee cabin, or did you book an assigned cabin? I thought the only people to get bumped up were ones with a grty cabin, am I wrong? If so, then how do they decide who gets bumped? Is there any rhyme or reason to it? Thanks, Sue

We had an assigned cabin. I booked the January Cruise approximately 2 months prior to sailing. I even checked our reservation the night before our sailing and we were still in our originally assigned cabin (category 11).

We booked a guaranty category 11, but have a cabin assignment, so I'm just being curious as to the odds of getting upgraded......
