I will second that report. This weekend I was on the boat from OKW to DD and the driver (who normally does the PO route) said they hope to bring it back by the end of the month. And maybe have Port Orleans FQ open for Summer.
Apparently the only reason the boat is coming back is guest comments - Wow! They really do Listen!!! :D

That's wonderful news. When we were at DL this past November we really missed the boats.

We canceled our WDW trip for a few reasons and the boats to DD was one of them. If this turns out to be true, we may be coming back!

I'm glad boats are coming back, we enjoyed the quiet ride to DD. Now maybe they'll bring BOB back to the lounge..

We will be there in June, and this resort was recommended because of the boat to DTD from POR...I am so glad they are bringing it back.

We love that boat trip! We love POR & when we stay somewhere else we always make a point of going there to eat at the food court (great selection) & then taking the boat to DD for the evening. The view of DD from the water is fantastic! Great news!

Woo hoo!
What great news! Thanks for sharing that info here, Kenman.
Now, here's a question--have the mansions all reopened at POR? And if so, were they renovated?

Did the boats run all day or just at night??
madaboutMickey

RosieRosie -- the boats ran all day. I think they started mid morning. After 4pm they ran more frequently.

I really don't want to crash this celebration but I spoke to 2 different cm's today, one at POR resort and one at central info; both cm's told me the bots are not returning. The cm at central info led me to beleive this is permanent..
sorry everyone:mad:

Looks like we have contradictory rumors (again......). I've seen this several places today (I wonder - all from the Intercot source?), so presumably there is truth to this piece of good news. I hope this happens, but at least we should know something in twelve days (rumored to return on the 24th). Anyone going to be in the world on or after that day to report?
The only part that puzzles me is French Quarter. It's still closed, and isn't it going to look awfully bad to be driving boats past deserted buildings? Without the boats, the FQ resort was fairly well hidden.
:) or :( ???????

Did they say they we're going to open the French Quarter too?
If they bring the boat back and open the French Quarter I'm really
seriously thinking about making ressies for FQ for our next trip.:bounce: :bounce:

CMs at resorts and CRO are notorious for having inaccurate information. It's not their fault. A lot of information simply doesn't relate to their job. And they are not likely to know about something that has not yet been announced to the public.

We all kmow that you have to wait for an "official" anouncement from Disney to finally get the truth. The worst thing you can do is take any particular disney employee's answer to be the truth. Its not that they are intentionally lying, but we all know that you can talk to one person and they will tell you one thing, then the next one you talk to will tell you the total opposite. Just try making phone calls for reservations, etc. , especially if your asking about French Quarter. Youll get totally different answers depending on who your talking to. I'll wait to see it before I believe it.

In the past, I have found Intercot to have very accurate information that usually turns out to be true. John (webmaster there) has an uncanny inside link that is very reliable.

On Intercot the posting is by WDWDRIVER, and he has been laid off since Oct and was told he will be back to work March 24 as PO to DD driver. I hope this is true.

What is in downtown Disney? We are booked at POR for May and weren't really planning to venture into DD. Just wondering.

You can't miss Downtown, Any disney merchandise you could ever want is there plus food and snacks and Pleasure island the nighttime hot spot, Nightclubs etc...
Easy to get there by Disney bus or the boat if it is running.
Don't miss it you'll have plenty of time to check it out after the parks close at night.
48 DAYS TO GO!!!!!:bounce: :bounce: :jester: :jester:

Downtown Disney does not charge an admission fee (like the parks) so it's a great place to visit on a day when you'd like to save a day on your park hopper passes. (Day of arrival or departure, for example.)

Lots of info on Downtown Disney on the DIS Home Page:
DIS Home Page (http://www.disneyinfo.com/)
Just scroll down left-hand column to "Downtown Disney", sections on "Marketplace", "Pleasure Island" and "West Side"

Downtown Disney is great for a nice break from the parks. You can shop and eat and still have all of the Disney atmosphere for free. Best of all is the bota ride back on a nice breezy night. It makes you wish you could stay forever.

I just got off the phone with CRO. I asked the CM about the boats. She said they weren't running (but I know from the boards that they are!) and then she said, "Boy, we sure wish that water level would get higher so we could start it up again". So now it's the water level that caused Dis to stop the boats. Right.

Yesterday a CM told me, the only reasons that the boats were not running was for refurbishing ( ha ha ) That it had nothing to do with FQ being closed, which by the way, she said was also ONLY closed for remodeling. She was quite sure she was correct. Then I asked her about the MAY hours and she said they never come out more than a month or so ahead of time. I know I had them last year in JAN for MAY. She was so helpful.

When I was at PO FQ last May we caught the boat to DD everyday and on our last day the CM who was 'driving' the boat told us that as Orlando was suffering with low rainfall Disney may decide to stop running the boats, they were keeping a 'very close eye' on the water level but it was looking very likely that the boats may stop running. Who knows what to believe?!
