Code question

I just hung up with disney and was able to apply the free ticket upgrade for my reservation at the Poly for May. My question is, if a general public "room only code" gets released, will Disney let me drop the free ticket upgrade code and use the new room only code? The room only code will help me more than the free upgrade. I didn't know if they would have issues with me trying to change codes. I wanted to go ahead and get some kind of deal just in case a "room only" code was not released this year.

I think it depends on whether or not you've made final payment. I was told that, after final payment, if the change you make results in a lower total cost than originally booked, then Disney charges a $50 change fee. (Not sure if it's pp or per room.)
