WWOOHOOOOOO no stinky boy socks on this trip!!!!
We are soooo excited, my daughter and I. We are talking the whole 9 yards of fluff and glamour and princesses this week. princess:
DH and the boys are going on a boy scout camping trip and DD and I decided we would do an all girl week at Disney while they are out being MEN. We will be celebrating DD's birthday while we are there so this makes it double special.
###please note we were just at Disney the first of Feb so this extra trip is for wandering and fun... no commando touring here. Its no big deal if we miss something because we just did so much on our last trip!!!#####
So what is in store for us? Well we are flying SWA direct flight... no yucky lay overs :cheer2:
We are still trying to decide if we will do the limo service from the airport or use ME. We did the limo just a few weeks ago and LOVED it but it depends on the trip budget.
Where are we staying? The Grand Floridian Sugar Loaf concierge :dance3:
We stayed in a regular room recently but I have been convinced the best way to do Disney is concierge:goodvibes
What are in the plans so far?
Well here is what it looks like....
I had some huge changes and so I redid this portion of my pre trip report and it can be found on page 4.
June 14
We arrive at 10am in the morning, check in and all that good stuff.
I am having a special dress made up for DD for her birthday. She will be so cute in it. I am in the works of having our room decorated with Cinderella stuff for her Birthday. It is going to be soooo magical for her:cloud9:
Depending on how we are doing on time, we are going to hit some sites at the MK this afternoon. Nothing over the top with touring as we won't be there until noon. just our first visit to get the castle wish out of the way:rotfl:
We have ADRs for 1900 parkfare dinner 6:20pm. They know its her Bday and are going to have a little cake for her.
June 15
We are planning on eating breakfast in the concierge lounge... get our money's worth :rotfl:
After that, we are heading to AK. She loves EE so we will most likely head there first. We missed the Nemo show this past trip so that is a must do this trip. We will skip the safari (you will see why in the afternoon...) and either do the rapids or meet some characters.
Rides/shows we will NOT do at AK due to scaring the pants off my wimpy daughter
1. Dino ...she hates this ride
2. Bug life... she is totally creeped out by bugs
Other than that, we will wander through the park looking at animals and FP what looks interesting to her at that moment.
At 1pm we are planning on doing the safari tour for concierge guest. It is supposed to be air conditioned and last for a little over an hour. From what I read this is an outstanding tour and you get to see lots more animals and stuff from the safari than you would from the regular ride.
Also... no standing in line for an hour :cheer2:
After our Safari tour, we are going to leave AK to the heat and the crowds and head back to the resort for a nice swim.
We have ressies for Yak and Yeti's for 6:30 and if we can yank our little behinds out of the pool, we would like to make it back there for dinner as we really enjoyed ourselves there last time. If not, its resort shopping and dinner at the cafe or room service.
June 16
Again we are going to take advantage of the concierge lounge for breakfast!
This is our Epcot day....
We have to stop by Germany to make a special doll for her birthday. Thanks Channing for this idea!
We also have to stop by Morocco to give a shout out to a few CM's that we made friends with and stay in email contact with.
My DD missed Figment this last time as it was closed so we want to make sure to see him... :rolleyes1 can't miss Figment
We also will try and ride Soarin once. We did it 5 times this past trip so no biggie if we miss it.
DD's Fav ride is TT... so I am sure we will swing on there once.
When it starts getting really hot, we are going to head back to the resort for another long swim.
We have ADRS for Garden grill 8pm. This meal we can't miss. My DD made specials friends with the munks this past time and she would be heartbroken if she didn't get to stop by and say HI!
Things we will skip epcot:
The Nemo ride we will most likely skip. She wasn't overly impressed this time with it...
Mission Space as she got dizzy and didn't care for it before
We just spent 2 full days doing the world showcase so we will do a quickie tour of it ... for the doll and to say hi to her friends but we won't do every nook and cranny this time.
June 17
Again... lounge breakfast
We are heading out to DHS this morning.
She loves RNR so that will be where we head first.
We are hoping the new Toy story ride is opened when we are there and that will be a must do!
We missed Beauty and the Beast show as he brothers outvoted her so that is a must do for us along with the Little Mermaid show.
We are going to skip light motor action along with Indy shows. They were good shows but this is a GIRL ONLY TRIP and we just saw themprincess:
Again, when it gets too hot and crowded we are heading back to the resort and hitting the pool. At some point during the day we are going to meet up with my brother and his family who live nearby. We see them a lot so its no biggie if we don't see them every minute of the trip :teacher:
This day is his birthday so I have made ressies for Ohana's dinner. He has two little ones so this will be nice for them. I am in the process of having a special cake ordered for him so we can embarrass him during dinner.
June 18
We have ADRs for Cindy's castle breakfast at 8:05AM... yes I said AM:scared1:
We wanted to get there well before the park opened. DD's fav princess is Cinderella sooooo this is a biggie for her!!!
She isn't too keen on HM so that one is off our list. We are going to play it by ear and see what has long lines and what doesnt and FP what we can. We are in no rush and there is no particular thing we HAVE to do.
We did miss the storytime with Belle, and DD said she would like to do that so adding it to our list.
When it gets hot we will head back to the resort (are you seeing a pattern here:lmao: ) for a swim. We have ressies for LTT at 7pm but staying at the GF its only a monorail ride away.
June 19th
Again lounge breakfast....
We are going to hit DHS again and knock out what we missed on our first day there. Again...going slow and catching the sites.
We have ADRs for mama melrose for 4:10 but we may change that ...depending on how hot it gets. If we get too hot or tired, we will do dinner at the resort... either room service or cafe.
The plan is AFTER Melrose to head back to the resort...and you guessed it hit the POOL!
June 20th
Lounge breakfast..
We have yet to decide if we are going to do AK or Epcot on this day. It just depends on what we had gotten done so far and what she feels like doing this day as it is her birthday trip.
AS I said earlier... this is NOT a commando trip so this leaves us lots of room to change if need be. There are VERY VERY few can't miss things on this trip... the rest of the week is a go with the flow and relax trip.
We do have ADRS which we will not miss at Le ciellers steak house 6:20pm
Other than that.. this is a free day where we can do whatever she wants to
June 21
Our last day... we need to check out of our resort and take care of business.
We have breakfast ADrs for Chef Mickeys ...she loves this breakfast.:rotfl:
After that we will meander around MK for the day. Our plane doesn't leave until 8pm so we have plenty of time for last minute shopping and rides.
We have lunch ADRS for Tony Towne Square.
SOOOOOOOOOO that's it folks... thats all I have planned so far.
I know it might make some of the planning guru's a bit nutso but ohhh well. We are going to go to Disney this time and RELAX... take in the sites and have fun without killing ourselves :rotfl:

I just got my first email from the IPO at the GF :cheer2: :cheer2:
This has gotten me really excited about our trip and we have a 112 days left until we leave :scared1:
I hope it goes quickly!!!!
It looks like I can't book the concierge safari until 90 days out but they will hold my name and automatically book it on the 90 day mark :cheer2:
Still looking at what to do special for DD for her birthday. I am hoping to snag a sugar free cake for the room. Anyone reading know if the bakery does SF cakes?
As some of you who read my TR from Feb know, I am a gastric bypass gal and sugar and me DO NOT MIX :lmao:
I would like to partake of her birthday cake with her... kind of one of those important things... so I am crossing my fingers hoping they can come up with something we can share as mother and daughter!!!:dance3:
Anyway, its late and I am excited about our email... ok so I am offically a nutcase:rotfl:

I am sure they have sugar free they cater to everyone.

::in my best mobster voice::: don't worry I have people :rotfl2:
Actually I am looking into it as are a few others. This is one of the only bad things about my surgery ... I really love it except for these very few special moments where it becomes a problem. I mean what little 7 year old girl is going to want to eat her birthday cake ALONE?!?! SOOOO sad I know.....
If nothing else I can "pretend" to eat it

Well that is one of my last options... my other option would be to find some Dis'ers who are there the same time we are and let them chow down on the cake with her :lmao:
As I said... I have people and we are working the system now to see what can be done.

Just reading and subscribbing ... can't wait to hear what you find out about the cake. I am a diabetic and would love to know if you can special order a SF cake. Trip sounds great so far. I would LOVE it if my daughter and i could go on a trip for just us girls. We can barely afford to go to Disney every 2 to 3 years. Hope you have fun

Subbing. :goodvibes Could you get Savannah a mini castle cake for her birthday and order also a plate of tuxedo strawberries to go with it? Would choc. dipped strawberries be too much sugar for you? I read that cake thread forever last year, but I swear I can't remember if they had anything about sugar free cakes....
praline3001
02-24-2008, 07:23 PM
Welcome gals!
Update on the cake situation. I got a hold of Peggy from Peggy's Sweets and More. I have only heard good things about her company so I am excited!!!
She found me a sugar free cake at the bakery she uses :cheer2:
She is going to do the Ultimate room decoration package, plus the SF cake with cindy decorations.... she is going to be in our room before we actually walk in and decorate it with streamers, balloons, centerpiece... the whole 9 yards. Then she will have a nice SF cake in the center :cheer2:
I am really excited about this!!! I knew we could do the castle or the strawberries but she is still little... only 7 and would feel bad if she had to partake of any of that all by herself. Not sure about Bday candles and strawberries either :scared:
This is going to work out a lot better and a lot safer for me!
OH and daddy (AKA DH) is going to order her a gift basket through peggy to be in the room when we get there too. He is in the process of picking out a few things for the gift basket that would be special for her to get from her daddy.... since he won't be there pixiedust:
Did I ever mention how much of a softie daddy was?:rotfl:

I had such a blast reading your February TR, so this is great fun.
I am so sad  since I had to change our dates. So now our first ever trip is a whole whooping year away....oh well.
So, your pre TR is therapy for me (plus as long as I am on the DIS, I am not engaging in retail therapy :rotfl: )
I am so glad that you found a SF :cake: Hooray! Make sure you take lots of pictures, especially of the decorated room. That is so cool. She will remember it forever!

Recent update to our trip ..which is in 50 days :woohoo:
After much research and thought (and looking at our budget a whole lot) I decided to book 2 days with the VIP tour guide.
I know most on here think these guides are a waste of money BUT remember I am doing Disney with me and my little girl. I want a chance to be able to completely enjoy my daughter... and be a kid myself with her without having to worry about being in charge or getting us here or there or fight the crowds... which are BAD in June. I want 2 days of Haukuna Matata :rotfl:
We will be using the guide for our MK day and our DHS day. They sent me all kinds of stuff via email asking about our group, our fav characters, our fav rides and what we would like to do on the days we picked. It was a pretty detailed questionaire with lots of room to leave comments at the end. I did ask for a guide who was fun loving and good with kids! I didn't want the trivia or history of the park kind of tour... I told them to send me an Alice in wonderland wanna bee :rotfl:
I told them I did NOT want a sitter as I want to enjoy my daughter on her magical day... I just want her to like our guide and to have an extra magical time :goodvibes
So far, in emails, this service has been A+ they already changed a few of my dining ressies for times that were NOT available ... I got what I wanted :cool1:
I am sure there will be people curious about all the service provides so I will keep you updated!
Of course this means my room service queen title may have to go to the side!!! This VIP tour is NOT cheap :rotfl2:
I guess there are people willing to pay $800 at a spa to recapture their youth ... I am paying that much so I can just be a kid at the park with my daughter :rotfl:
My daughter is extremely sweet, an A+ student and made a 100 average for the year (so far ..got 1 more month of school left) for behavior, was student of the month twice in her school. She deserves a bit of spoiling :rotfl: ;)
And though this guide is mostly for HER.... I get lots of benefits of NOT standing in line for 2 hours for peter pan :thumbsup2
I am hoping to get most of the park done with the guide... leaving us plenty of time just to walk around and enjoy ourselves and a little extra reort pool time :cheer2:

That is my plan... I guess as I am the mom and have to live with them 24/7 I saw the nightmare it would be if I took all 3 by myself :lmao:
I bet their mom did the "Risky Business" dance all through the house the moment you left :rotfl2:
The boys are going to have a wonderful time camping with the boy scouts... getting filthy dirty each day... swimming in mud infested lakes and in general just being boys in the woods with their best buds.
Now, Savannah and I don't find that type of outing much fun :rotfl2:
I saw the chance to have an all girl week with my princess and grabbed it!
The only worry part is me being her only source of entertainment the entire week.... I have to be her best bud, her mom, her disney planner.... shoot at least with all 3 kids there they had someone else to talk to or bug :lmao:
I will be lucky if I get 5 minutes alone in the bathroom :rotfl2:

I wanted to re do my pre trip report as so much has changed since I first started it
SOOOO here is the updated version of the plans:
June 14~ we are flying to MCO and will be there 9am in the morning. We are taking DME from MCO to the GF and checking in to the sugar loaf building.
From there we are going to head out to MK so Savannah can make her all important wish at the castle and hopefully ride a ride or two. We will be eating dinner at 1900 park fare. They know it's her birthday so I am "Guessing" they will do something a little extra special but not counting on it. After supper we are going back to our room where I have ordered and paid for something special for her. Peggy (from Peggy's sweet's and more) is going to decorate the room in a Cinderella theme. She has ordered a SF cinderella cake and also a huge gift basket full of cindy birthday goodies for Savannah.
We will relax and retire for the night....
June 15~ Either we will eat breakfast in the concierge lobby or order room serivce. After getting ready and eating, we will be heading out to AK for rope drop. I am hoping to snag a FP to ride EE at least once this trip. As we rode it 8 times in Feb it won't be a great loss if we miss it though.
Savannah HATES Dinosaur so that is one line I won't have to worry about. Our 1 and only MAJOR goal is to see the Nemo show this day. As long as we get in to see Nemo we are good :thumbsup2 we missed it in Feb and she really wanted to see it :guilty:
For the afternoon we will head back for a break at the hotel... either to swim or to do some shopping. We do have dinner ADRS for Yak and Yeti's so we will head back to AK for dinner. After that, we will play it by ear but most likely head back to the GF to relax and hit the bed early.
June 16~ Again either RS breakfast or lounge... We have booked the VIP tour guide service for Epcot this day. We are supposed to meet up with our guide at 9am.
From there I am hoping for a magical day at Epcot but am letting the guide do the planning. Savannah MUST ride TT as its her fav ride in all the world:rolleyes1 I am also not wanting to focus on the WS, we spent 3 days in the WS in Feb. We have late lunch ADRS for Garden Grill. Savannah loves the munks here and is looking forward to this lunch!
The guide will be with us for 6 hours. After we split from her, we are going to head back to the resort to swim in the pool the rest of the afternoon. We will most likely hit the grill for dinner or RS dinner... depending how we feel.
June 17~ Again breakfast is either RS or lounge..
We are planning on DHS for the day and getting there for rope drop. We aren't in any great quest or rush this day. We will be with the VIP on the 19th in this park. We will try to get on TOT or RNR once most likely and Little mermaid show, which she missed in Feb :headache:
Other than that, we are just going to wander the sites, enjoy ourselves and not be in any rush to get anywhere... just taking in the magic.
When we have had enough or just want to hit the pool, we are going back to the resort for the afternoon. We have dinner ADRS for Ohana's and my brothers family is going to meet up with us at some point and go to dinner with us.
We will most likely walk around the poly, taking in the sites. After dinner, we will head back to the GF and relax and hit the hay as we have a BIG day tomorrow...
June 18~ We will wake up SUPER DANG BLASTED FLIPPIN EARLY to make it to CRT for 8am breakfast. It puts us in MK before opening so I am hoping to get some great pics of Savannah on main street. I may still be in my PJs at CRT though :rotfl:
After breakfast, we are meeting our VIP tour guide at the castle. She is planning our entire day around Savannah's magicial day. I did give the guide some of Savannah's FAV rides but today I just want to accomplish the most magical memories possible for her. We have a late lunch at LTT. After we ditch the Guide we will go back to the resort to rest or swim. We also have late dinner ADR's at LTT. I am hoping Savannah won't be so beat tired that she misses the dinner :lmao: if we are just SOOO tired we can't move I will call and cancel it and we will do RS dinner.
June 19~ Breakfast is RS or lounge... We meet our VIP guide for 9am at DHS. I made sure the guide understood one of our main goals is to get front row seating at the Beauty and the Beast show. Savannah has been dying to see this show and in Feb her brother's out voted her. :rolleyes1 She also wants to see the INDY show as its another of her Favs. The guide can suprises us with the rest of the day. I did give her a list of Savannah's FAV things at DHS so hopefully it will go well. We have lunch ADRS for 50's prime time cafe. We always get a kick out of this place! After we ditch the guide, we will head back to the pool and relax. Either RS dinner or the grill.
June 20th ~ we have early adrs for the lilo and stitch breakfast. I am hoping we can get it in gear early enough to make the ADR :rotfl:
We are then heading off to AK for the day. Our main goal this day is to try and grab a FP for EE and to see the Lion King show. In the afternoon we have the safari private tour thingy. It sounds really cool and I am looking forward do seeing the safari at a slow pace in air conditioning with no lines!!! After our safari tour we are heading back to the resort. We have ADR's for Les Ceiller's so most likely no swimming this afternoon! We will take a short rest and then head to Epcot for dinner. After dinner, we will play it by ear... I won't be in any rush to go to any certain place.
June 21~ our last day :sad1: We will check out of the resort and hand out luggage over to bell services. We have 9:30 am ADR's for Chef Mickeys. After breakfast, we will continue over to MK using the monorail. We will take in the sites and wander around MK for the morning. We have lunch ADR's for Tony's towne square. After lunch we will make 1 more wish at the castle and head back to the resort. We will meet up with DME and head to MCO around dinner time. We have a later flight so no big rush on our part. Then its HOME we go .....
I know I haven't planned it to the minute but at least I have a general idea where and when we will be. I have found the most magical moments at WDW were the ones that were not planned... so I am planning for those :rotfl:
We were there just a few months ago so its no biggie if we miss something... I am sure in missing something we will gain something :goodvibes

It sounds like you are going to have a blast. I would like to hear how the VIP tour guiding goes. From what I've heard, it should be quite an experience.

So far they have been wonderful in emails.
I will tell you I was really nervous about hitting the parks with the summer crowds with just Savannah and I. Two years ago we had the most tramatic experience at US :sad2:
Her and I were in line (without DH) for the Earthquake ride. Well they put everyone in a room, show a show and then you move to the next room. Savannah and I just happened to be by the door... didn't mean to be... well the doors opened and my 4 year old little angel was trampled... I mean seriously tramped on. People just stepped on her! She came out of the ordeal with 6 big bruises :sad1:
I never screamed or went into crazy mommy mode before but let me tell you... I was a MAD WOMAN trying to get to her :thumbsup2
The employee just looked at us and said: oops sorry
:sad2:
She was so tramatized by this she slept in my bed for the next week! I am not a over protective crazy kind of mommy but that was the scariest thing I have ever had happen to me!
With that thought ALWAYS and FOREVER in the back of my mind I was worried about Disney with the same summer crowds. I know Disney is good about keeping kids safe but I can't help but worry with what happened to us.
The VIP Tour Guide will ensure we will have fun and be safe. Just that peace of mind makes it magical for us. I am not going to have to constantly worry about Savannah being hurt. People in theme parks can be NUTS! :scared1:

That is crazy!! I don't have children yet, but I know how protective I am and it's a good thing I wouldn't have been in the same situation b/c I would have returned six bruises to each of the people who decided to trample a child ... of all rides.
That story reminds me of when I was younger and at a Mardi Gras parade (I was born and raised in NOLA). This older woman pushed me to the ground when I was trying to pick up a bead. Skinned up my knee. They weren't even pearls, just those junkie clear beads that kids like. I told my mom what happened ... thank god she couldn't find the person who did it because she may have retaliated a bit too much ... lol. But that experience was seriously traumatic for me and I didn't want to go to a parade for years after that. It happened when I was 5 or 6 and I didn't want to go to a parade again til I was a teenager and all my friends were going.
That's a smart idea to get the VIP guide ... no worries about being trampled by the crazy summer crowds and causing another traumatic memory for your daughter.

Mardi Gras can be nuts! We actually went to Disney this mardi gras time around. Don't get me wrong I LOVE MARDI GRAS but it has gotten so out of hand its not even fun now. I can't take my kids to the parades like I used to... too many college drunk kids. :sad2:
My brother as a teenager broke my dad's fingers at a parade... it was hysterical.... they were "fighting" for trinkets and being silly.. my dad grabbed a bead and my teenage brother stomped on his hand to try and take it and in the process broke 2 of his fingers :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
we were in the ER CRACKING UP ... they must have thought we were the nutso family.
My family is conservative and not crazy wacky in ANY WAY..well mostly :rolleyes1 .... we were just being silly and BANG daddy got his fingers broke :rotfl2:

We would always travel for Mardi after it started getting so crazy. It was the best time to go to Disney and the rest of the parks in the area because the weather is great (not to hot, not too cold), the lines were relatively short, and, as a child, there was no comparison between Disney and Mardi Gras. Let's see .... Mardi Gras with drunks, traffic, crazy people, and no place to go to the bathroom or Disney with Mickey, character breakfasts, rides, and the list goes on.
