My planner Kathleen just called. She talked me down some (as far as anyone was going to be able to anyhow) from my Jordan Almond rage. I've agreed to let them be in tins. We're going to put them in a basket though, not at everyone's place settings. People can take them as they leave! Ugh. I'm trying really hard to not be petty and to be the bigger, better person here. I don't think I've succeeded yet. Hmpf.

As a bright spot, she did offer to be responsible for taking them to Jiko for set up and then "forgetting" them. Then we could blame her. I just didn't know if I could stoop that low. Because am I not then being as underhanded as the person who has decided to "surpise" me with the jordan almonds in the first place?

Funny idea! I understand not wanting to stoop to that level though.

I just got an invite to a cousin's fiance's shower. I'm not sure if she is Italian (could be based on the last name, but could be Spanish or something too). I wonder if they will have Jordan almonds there? I'll let you know!

Here's my issue with this shower though:

I received the invite to the shower, but never received a save the date for the wedding. Those apparently went out a while ago. Hmmm... everyone says that maybe they didn't have the address. Well, the shower invite made it to me and it is addressed correctly. I guess the wedding is the Friday after Easter. I'm going to the shower anyways. I just better receive a wedding invite!

Second of all she's worried that the outfit she found is going to be too dressy?!?! She described it. It doesn't sound too dressy. I told her so. Really, too dressy for your oldest daughters wedding??? Damn, what does she want to wear?? Track pants?? ... What am I supposed to do? Worry about how big my sisters butt looks on my wedding day????? ... Sunday night she made me choose which ankle bracelet she should wear for the wedding. When I told her none, she said that wasn't possible. So she's going to have on more jewelry than a freakin' gypsy!!!! And for sure more than me.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I think you should go into stand-up after this wedding - your angle can be wedding humor :lmao:

Let me try to help with some of these things on your list...

Things I still need to do:
-Adjust reservations (yet again) after the whole best man fiasco of earlier this month.
-find a purse to use on my wedding day
-confirm with Randy
-confirm with Ron
-pre-pay Beaute Special (by wed the 30th)
-talk to Kathleen re: jordan almonds, placing ornaments out as place cards, dropping number from 20 to 17 for the recption dinner, possible shipping stuff to her for the wedding?!?
-get ahead in both classes for school
-buy gold pen and coordinate personalization of ornaments
-creat list of things to buy for welcome bags to send with MOH (who's leaving two days before us) to buy when she gets to FL.
-work out two days on/one day off
-tan every other day
-figure out how to pack veil
-clean house and get all laundry done
-pack (and try not to forget anything)
-post on Dis about daily happenings and back track to cover shower and bachlorette party

Pack a veil - I know how to do that! Wrap it in tissue paper and put it in a plastic bag. Then hang it up in the bathroom or have Carolyn Allen steam it. :thumbsup2

I wish I could help with all those other things...

This is weird. And this has had me questioning weather I had posted my plan for the at home reception?!? Not that I think it is right in the least that you were invited to a shower but have not received a wedding invitation without some sort of reasoning as to why. For example, there were plenty of people who were invited to my shower knowing that they were not invited to the wedding, but would be invited to the at home reception a few months later. Most people didn't have a problem with this. However, i'm taking issue with the people who couldn't even be bothered to RSVP that they weren't coming. I think those people are off my list for the at home reception. I don't want to be bothered to track them down for and RSVP and they obviously can't be trusted to reply on their own. So... is it against wedding etiquette? YES. Do I care at this point?? NO. (this in no way has anything to do with the situation you're in, other than it reminded me to write about this. I find it very odd that you're received no word about the actual wedding!!!)

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I think you should go into stand-up after this wedding - your angle can be wedding humor :lmao: :

I'm always glad I can entertain!! They always say the true stuff is funny. It's too bad my life is this funny. I do hope you enjoy though! popcorn::

Do you think? Even with the birdcage? I do believe Carolyn Allen's is pressing my dress instead of steaming it. Do you think they can press the veil??? I have the foam ball it came on, I just don't know that I'll ever be able to wrap it back on there all neat and snug.

It is ridiculous what you have gone through with your RSVPs, etc. Having to Escape with so few people, you would think that they realize that they are the only ones being invited.

As for the at home reception, I would be fine if I knew my cousin was doing something like that. His brother got married in Hawaii (wife was from there) and they had a second huge reception here (well, in CT). Anyone could have gone to the one in HI if they wanted to pay to travel though. I think his younger brother did something like that too. I couldn't go to his reception because it was two weeks before I took the bar exam though.

I hope that everything turns out okay with all of your guests though. I wish I could offer some advised on the almonds, but I'd probably give in at this point. I'll still pack my bags and head down there if you decide to dis-invite all the family and invite the DIS family!

Oh crap - I forgot it was a birdcage. Well, I stuffed mine with tissue paper and stuck it in a box (I'm shipping it down to our hotel with all our mouse ear favors, fake bouquet, etc.), so maybe you could get it around the ball as best you can and wrap it up with packing material? I wish I had a ball... :sad1: :rotfl:

Ummmm... While I was on my CP in 2006, I was checking in for my assigned position in Main Street Ops and ended up being recruited for entertainment. I got to be really good friends with the White Whitch of Narnia AND Maleficent. Maleficent IS the Mistress of All Evil.

Mmmmwaa ha ha ha ha!

I also got to be really good friends with Tigger, Geppetto, Tweedle Dee & Dum, and some others. :)

Maleficent is my DD's absolute favorite Disney Character! :cloud9: Been her favorite forever!...We have yet to see her in the parks. (For a meet and greet) :sad1: We search every trip, but to no avail! We have seen her in the SADCT Parade, but much to DD's chagrin...that's it.

Awww... Yeah, Maleficent gets busy around Halloween but is MIA the rest of the time. However, (this one time at Disney) Maleficent did a meet and greet at Exposition Hall in the MK and the cutest little girl with blonde curls ran up to Maleficent and wrapped her arms around the villan's legs and would not let go!! And Maleficent, wow! She's so conflicted, I think she needs therapy. She loooooooves when the peasants pay her the proper amount of awe and gratitude, but this little girl wasn't fully respecting her power!!

Maleficent typically is not out for meet and greets (unless she's making new friends, if you catch my drift.) You're best bet is to check with guest services EVERYDAY and ask them to call the C.H.I.P. line to see if she's going to be ANYWHERE in the world.

Okay, this week has been somewhat of a disaster, but I'm finally feeling better. I'm more rested and sane today than I have been all week. Monday I was just OVERWHELMED and I slept all day. I think that helped me from getting full blown sick.

On Tuesday, I left work 2.5 hours early and I went to Michaels, Joanns, Party City, Garden Ridge and Flower Factory. The last two are interesting craft warehouse type places. During my adventrues I picked up my friend Wendy (yes, we're Wendy and Wendy, but I go by Dee with her and another mutual friend, my bm Jenna) and managed to get re-worked up about the jordan almonds that Kathleen had talked me down about earlier in the day on the phone. I was in the store looking at these adorable heart shaped tins and Wendy pointed out how the SILVER tins are not going to go with the ivory/red/black lenox mickey ornaments with gold trim!!! :scared:

After a lot of angry ranting, I ended up buying some really cute clear/frosted pillow boxes with different sizes and fonts of love on them (as the clear part with the background being frosted.) I decided that the JAs could go in these, go on the table with MY favors and not clash too much. But you know it was still irritating me! :rolleyes1

I also purchased cones to put the M&M's in, but they're rigid, not like the cello cones I was hoping to find. I also found goodie bags to put candy in at the welcome bags that I'm passing out at the welcome dinner at Ohana. they're shaped like t-shirts and have a blue hawaiian print on them!! They're pretty cute!

While Wendy and I were out I also bought a total of 5 different gold pens. And I've already posted some of my drama with this on some other threads yesterday. I was panicked b/c 3 of the 5 pens didn't say they worked on glass or ceramic. The other two are zig painty pens and when we tried to sample that one in the store it was coming out all muddy looking and not very gold at all  Thus all of my panic yesterday.

I was still really worked up yesterday about the JAs, shocking, I KNOW. So, after work I decided to call FMIL about the whole situation. I had been avoiding doing this because it was supposed to be a surprise and she didn't know that I knew. Well, we talked it all out and I listed all my reasons for not having them at the reception except for my extreme hatred. I even told her I researched them and I knew how special they were to her and what the meaning was. (yeah, the DIS rocks :woohoo: ) I then suggested that we put them out for the Welcome dinner and explained all the reasons this was a good idea: she's hosting that meal, they can go in the tulle and be tied with ribbon, etc..

She was totally agreeable and accepting and generally amazing about the the whole thing!!

It was the best thing ever. I wish I had called a week and a half ago and that I hadn't stewed over this for so long. The amount of stress I was having over these JAs was insane. I KNOW I brought it on myself, but I just couldn't seem to help it.

So the Jordan Almond situation is now COMPLETELY RESOLVED!

I'm going to used the cute pillow boxes for the M&M's to go into the welcome bags and I'm going to use the rigid cones to put mixed nuts in to go in the welcome bags!!! This whole situation turned out so well it's left me :upsidedow

After I called FMIL I had to hightail my butt into class. :teacher: I'm taking 10 credits this semester so not only am I working full time and planning the wedding, etc... I'm also trying to "get ahead" in my classes for while we're gone for 2 weeks! :rolleyes1

Finally, I made it home last night and I was still panicking about the whole pen situation. I pulled out the $1.49 plate I bought at Garden Ridge the day before and I opened the zig painty pen, and what do you know??? It worked like a dream! So the crappy pen that we were testing out in the store was just a plain ole, big, fat liar!!! Whew... I'm taking the ornaments to Wendy's house today after work before school so she can take them to her friend's house so that she can personalize all of them. I've offered to pay, but she's doing it for free. At least there's only 17 total. That's not bad. I just wouldn't want to leave it up to my hand writing.

So that's where I'm at right now. I feel a lot better today. I got 7hrs of sleep instead of the 5 that I've been averaging. I had two major stressors resolved. I feel renewed coming into the weekend to polish off the to do list!! :woohoo:

I hope you are able to stay healthy and maintain a level of non-stress, as you deserve! :goodvibes

Wendy, so happy to hear that the JA problem was solved - and it sounds like a great solution.

As far as the pen goes on the ornaments, so glad you found something that works. Which store did you buy it at and what color did you end up going with? Is the actual name of the pen "zig painty pen"? I need to find something to do my ornaments with and it sounds like you are really pleased with the results of this pen.

Thanks,
Linda

Oh yes Linda. I'm very please. After they're all done I'll try to make sure I get some pics so I can post them. I need to go on a picture blitz and really jazz up this PJ,

Yes, the brand is Zig and it's called a Painty Pen. I got the gold with the Extra Fine tip. I found it at Joanns (althoug I know you can get them other places too) in the scrapbook section. HTH!

I certainly don't want a fertility boost anytime soon. Work and School is quite enough right now!! Man, I was hearing my clock ticking quite a bit a few years ago. All I could think was "Chubby babies, chubby babies, chubby babies." But then I finally went back to school and it's been so great. I feel so accomplished and proud. I'm about another 2 1/2 years out from getting my BA and I'm goning into a fast track program that will allow me to get my masters in just an additional year!! There's NO WAY I could work, go to school and dote on adorable chubby babies. So we've got a few years yet. That doesn't stop FMIL asking constantly if maybe I'm preggers. When Chuck and I first started dating I used to get lectures on the perils of premarital sex. Then about 4 or 5 years ago she abandoned her quasi-catholic belifes and let me know it would be okay if we had an accident and sometime you have to "trick a man." Yes, all this was coming from Chuck's mother. No surprise. Chuck was born 7 months after his parent married! Because I've been run down and sick this week, she asked me if I was pregnant!! It's never ending. Part of the problem is that she didn't have Chuck until she was 38 and Christie until she was 40. So now she's 70 and she wants grand babies NOW. Oh the web we weave.

I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HOW EVERYTHING TURNS OUT!! :goodvibes

It's going to be so great coming back to everyone's TRs and Wedding Stories!! I can't wait to see how everything turns out for you too. I know it's going to be just wonderful!

I don't think there's much hope for sleep. There's only so many hours in the day. Work and school are really interfering with getting my wedding stuff done! :confused3 Although, I am sitting in class right now ignoring my drone-y instructor and playing on DIS instead. :rolleyes1

Tonight I'm going to try to hightail it out of class and hit the tanning salon and then hopefully make it to target before close for some cheapo red patent leather peep toe pumps and a matching clutch to go with my Welcome Dinner dress! :goodvibes Hope I'm not disappointed.

I just love how "adults" forget all about their beliefs when they think about having grandchildren. My Mom has been bugging me for years now, especially after I turned 24 (since she was that old when I was born). I used the school excuse for as long as I could, now I'm saying that my dad was 32 when I was born, so I shouldn't have to rush (I just turned 31). I think next year I will have to start saying that I need to pass the Bar exam first. I've been out of law school for 5 years now and I don't have my license yet.

Your FMIL sounds like my Nana sometimes. Old fashioned Italian women lol. When my day comes, and if she is still around, I'll probably have the JA issue as well haha. Ah well, let me find a BF and get engaged first before I think about all this ;) lol.

Glad to hear your plans are falling together. Where do you work? I might have to drop some of my theater stuff and get a better job, but one where you might have a little time for DIS sounds heavenly :cloud9:

Keep the :cool2: handy, and don't let the FMIL/FSIL ruin YOUR big day!

And another thing... it occurred to me that I will be standing around in front of the BoardWalk Inn trying to catch a boat right after our reception - like 2:15 -which might be right when you're leaving the BWI to walk to SBP for your ceremony. I started to worry that they will make one of us hide/take another route to avoid us being in the same place b/c they don't know we're cool with that.

So if a wedding planner hands you/me a black hood or shoves one of us behind some bushes, we'll have to make sure they know we know each other!:rotfl:

glad things are coming along. i couldn't conn mark into staying a few extra days. i missed my kitties too...so we're home in tx. my best friend and her girlfriend had to leave early though and they want to go back. i'm trying to talk them into next week, being home stinks!

Do they really do this? Don't they know all of you probably have talked on this board and maybe want joint pictures together, or at least get a good look at the dresses you've been discussion for months. Perhaps if you give them the heads up you won't get the black hood. ;)

OMG... I'm going to let Kathleen know ahead of time that we are A-OK with the double bride thing. It would be tres cool if we could get a double bride/double dress pic!!! Woo Hoo!!

I read the whole journal! Yay!

Glad to hear your plans are falling together. Where do you work? I might have to drop some of my theater stuff and get a better job, but one where you might have a little time for DIS sounds heavenly :cloud9:

Keep the :cool2: handy, and don't let the FMIL/FSIL ruin YOUR big day!

popcorn:: waiting for more. Reading yours Caryn's, and Carrie's. Now to catch up on Kristen's haha.

Thanks for reading. I know I've been spotty with my posting and kinda all over the place.

The FMIL/FSIL are great and I don't think they would ever do anything to ruin my day. I know the things that happen aren't purposeful or spiteful. I just wish they could be more excited about MY plans and less disappointed that it not what they like or want. I can read the disappointment in my FSIL's face as we're working on things. Like she just doesn't like anything I've decided to do! I don't know why?!? I mean we both recognize that we have different taste and that we like different things. That's not to say that if she likes something in particulary that I wouldn't support her even if I didn't like it. I just get this vibe that she hates everything having to do with my wedding. Is that weird?

And it seems like it a bother for her to help me out with anything... I mean I know it's not, and she doesn't complain or anything, but she's certainly not enjoying it... I don't know. Things just seem really tense and weird between us right now. Hopefully after the wedding and everyone is gone and Chuck is at the conference and it's just her and I, we can hang out at Disney and get back to 'normal'.

I want pix of the red patent pumps too! :hyper:

OH MAN! I had everything out last night and forgot to take pics. I'll do it tonight. :thumbsup2

i'm back! i feel so left out! good choice on Beaute Speciale. I had ana, i think she does most disney weddings because she was formerly with disney cosmetology and knows all the planners. she is great. you're like me with the stress and she kept me really calm and they did a GREAT job!

glad things are coming along. i couldn't conn mark into staying a few extra days. i missed my kitties too...so we're home in tx. my best friend and her girlfriend had to leave early though and they want to go back. i'm trying to talk them into next week, being home stinks!

Caryn! I'm so glad you're back on the boards and here before I leave. Reading your TR and your support are so great to have with only 3 days left before we leave!!!!!

I was reading your TR, and we are very similar with the stress. I'm uber freaked out right now. I've stopped sleeping. And the messed up thing is that I'm still working (thru tomorrow) and I've got class tomorrow night. I have class Thrusday too, but I'm not going. I'm giving all my homework (including everything that's due while we're gone) to my friend to turn in for me on Thursday. I have to take tests in both my classes early so that I don't come home to back to back tests in both classes. I just don't want to come home behind! So, I spent a total of 12 hours in the computer lab this weekend just working on homework, not getting other stuff done!

Do they really do this? Don't they know all of you probably have talked on this board and maybe want joint pictures together, or at least get a good look at the dresses you've been discussion for months. Perhaps if you give them the heads up you won't get the black hood. ;)

:thumbsup2 I'm going to seriously let Kathleen know not to keep us apart.

Glad to hear that you were able to find a happy solution for the jordan almonds incident and that you avoided the pen crisis. I completely understand how frustrating these little things can become :goodvibes The little Hawaiian shirt bags sound so cute for Ohanas!

I know it's ridiculous and petty. I know that I'm a bridezilla for having such a problem with it... But oh well it's resolved and over now. Kathleen thinks it's funny that I've given the JA's there own acronym and that it makes them important. I said it's just so I don't have to be ill every time I read, say, think the words out!!!

SHOOOOOOT!! I should have taken pictures of the bags. I don't know if I'll get a chance to now either. The problem is, the welcome bags are not put together. They're going to be put together in FL. FSIL leave tomorrow. So she's got an extra day and a half start on me and I figured why buy everything like candy and water up here in MI and pack and fly it to FL. I'm going to give her explicit instructions to take pictures of everything so that I can post them up, even if it's after the wedding!!!

Where do you work? I might have to drop some of my theater stuff and get a better job, but one where you might have a little time for DIS sounds heavenly :cloud9:

Okay, I think I meant to answer this before and then got wrapped up in the FMIL/FSIL comments instead.

I work for two amazing guys. They are partners and work in the metal stamping business. One does capital equipment sales. He buys and sells large metal stamping presses and related feed equipment. The other does part supplies for certain brands of afore mentioned presses. The one is 3 years older than me, married with 2 kids. One of the kindest, cool guys ever. The other is a year younger than me, married with 3 kids and another on the way  I can't even imagine.

Anyhow. They're pretty great to me. I'm pretty much a Den Mother. I do it all. Answer the phones, file, sort, clean, remind them of things. I handle all the inventory tracking. I quote customers. You name it, I do it. I actually have quite a bit of work left for me, but I'm really, really unfocused. I'm really only here today to rack up the hours on my already pitiful check (I missed 10 hours last week and I'm off Thursday and Friday of this week.) My next check after that will use up my whole two weeks of vacation for the wedding and honeymoon! They're really flexible though with school and everything. If I ever need to leave early during a 'crunch' time they're pretty understanding. It's the best job for me right now, because they are so flexible.

That being said: Here's some pictures of my workspace, lol...

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/maps.jpg
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/workspace.jpg

The really funny thing is that the CM name tag on the MK map is Wendy! How cool is that??

I can't wait to see the pictures!!!!!

Ugh... I'm such a yutz, but I forgot my camera for my hair trial. My bridesmaid/hairdresser Jenna took pics, but they're on her camera...

So, I just took a couple of pics of me sitting at my desk. Here are my highlights. Nothing drastic. We just got rid of the 8" roots  and trimmed it up. And I'm pretty plain jane most of the time for work. I do look a little more tan though, so that's making me happy. I normally don't tan, but I didn't want to look like casper for the wedding. I'm going two more times before we leave. Today I'm going to do the stand-up and Thursday I'm using my free upgrade to the high pressure bed... eek! Hope I know what I'm doing. :rotfl2:

Okay, I finally uploaded these photos, so I thought I'd do a little back tracking. There's a lot of drama that surrounded my shower. At one point FMIL wasn't going to come, etc...

I think I even posted up about my horrible nightmare I had the night before. I dreamt that Chuck and I were out and about and my shower was at 3pm (it was really at noon) and that Chuck took me to his friend's house and left me there while he went to run an errand. We were in Michigan, but I totally didn't know the area and I had no idea how to get to my shower. So then, I finally realized that I could take this subway/tunnel system. All I could think about was how angry FSIL and FMIL were going to be for me being late. So I'm in this tunnel system (very similar to the utilidors under MK only a lot cleaner  ) and I'm following the signs to get to Jiko!!! Oh my.

So I woke up panicked. I was just very freaked out. Despite being together for 11 years, our families have never really mingled witht he exception of FSIL, she used to work for my mom. And there was such an age/culture gap between my mom and Chuck's mom. And some of my mom's side of the family are unique. So, I was just really freaked out about how everything is going to go.

So I get ready and head off to Champp's (yes, a sports bar at noon on a saturday :headache: ) I call a couple of my girlfriends to make sure they are on their way and they assure me that they are. Well, I get there at 11:55am and NO ONE from my side is there save one person. It's FMIL, FSIL, Chuck's grandmother and then FMIL's two friends and FSIL's two friends (who she didn't tell me she invited until the night before!?! Now, I know them and like them, but it was weird.) So, I start to panic and call people. I can't beleive my Mom is LATE!!! Ugh, so I'm talking to my single person, one of my Mom's friends who I've known my whole life and she's like, yeah... don't you know you're mom is alway late? Ummmmm.... NO! :headache: Finally everyone shows up and we get the show started. It was akward to say the least. We ordered lunch and then played a few games. After everyone had lunch we had desserts and started opening gifts. Well, right as I'm going to open gifts everyone decides to inform me that the # of ribbons you break is how many children you'll have... :scared1: I didn't break one ribbon!!! Not that I don't want any children, but why tempt fate. We're just not ready now.

Me holding up a couple of gifts...

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/calphalon.jpg
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/blender.jpg

My step-father's sister-in-law gave me this gift. (So I guess she's my step-aunt-in-law?? lol) It's an expansion set for the lenox nativity set that I got when my step-father's mother, my Grandma B, passed away. It was really sweet that she passed it on to me, but a little bittersweet b/c they signed the card "Grandma B" and she hasn't been with us for over 5 years now! I got a little teary eyed! :sad1:

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/lenoxnativity.jpg

So, something that was weird (to me) was that FSIL announced that they weren't paying for alcoholic drinks, so if you wanted to drink that you had to start a tab. Now, the reason this was kinda weird is b/c everyone had already ordered waters or soft drinks... However, my girlfriend Beth did start a tab and got me some drinks to help calm me a bit. :goodvibes It helped. I got all warm and fuzzy and smiley.

Also, my mom had asked me before she even flew in to MI from AZ what she should wear. She specifically asked if jeans and a sweater were okay and I very specifically said NO. I told her she should dress it up at least a little bit. It must have gone in one ear and out the other... She showed up in jeans and a big, chunky sweater...

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/MeMomGrandma.jpg

That's my Mom's mom in the picture. And my grandma. But were just not that close. It was nice that she came though. Her and my Aunt got lost finding the place and that's why they were late. They're totally from a different part of town and they weren't familiar with the area.

Oh, and I was told that we weren't going to have a cake! And I kinda made a big deal about this b/c it just seemed weird to me. FSIL/FMIL decided they wanted to do small sweets instead. So there were all these little tarts and TWO chocolate strawberries?!? Everyone wanted the chocolate strawberries and it was weird to see grown women grumble over a chocolate covered strawberries. I mean, I love em and they're one of my favorite treats... but I didn't get one trying to keep everyone else happy. Well, I think FSIL got the point that I wanted a cake b/c she surprised me with one...

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/caketopper.jpg

The cake topper is a bride dragging a groom and there's claw marks from where he's dragging his fingernails. :lmao: It was funny. And everyone loved the cake the best of all the desserts. Hmpf.

Another weird thing... because my FSIL invited a couple of her girlfriends she sat with them the whole time. I mean, we're all friends and we've all been out together before, but it was just weird. I had other friends there, but it just seemed weird that she wasn't sitting with me?!?

Anyhow, it ended up being a success and people seemed to have an okay time, but to me it just seemed like something I needed to "get through." In fact this whole process just seems so surreal.

On a happy note... some pics of my niece. One with a chocolate covered strawberry
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/AmyaStrawberry.jpg

And my niece and I together...

OKAY, Question!! I never had a particular affinity towards any particular music for the ceremony. After talking to Chuck we just went with standard wedding music with the exception of the recessional.

After reading Caryns TR and the conversation that Mark had with the musician (I think) about the popularity of the Death March from Star Wars (in comparison to their star trek- tng song), I'm thinking that it would be really funny to switch the song to the death march and "surprise" Chuck. Am I'm just totally looney or does anyone else think this might be funny/ cute?? I mean heck... look at the cake topper from my shower. If everyone else can poke fun, shouldn't I be able to too???

What do you all think?? I'm not even going to ask MOH/FSIL her opinion, b/c she's just going to make that sour, disapproving look on her face and have that catch in her voice b/c it's not traditional. :sad1:

I think it would be hilarious, but then again, I have been pissing off DBF's family a lot lately. I told his brother that durian (really stinky Asian fruit) would not be eaten in my house in front of his mother. He lives with us and she had the nerve to get pissed because I was telling her son what to do. (The durian rule applies to everyone in our house.) Grr!

Anyways, I would find it funny to play that, as would most of my friends and family (they just expect that), but I would never hear the end of it from her.

I guess it depends on how long you want to hear about what you've done wrong with you wedding. When you have your own daugther's wedding, would you want to hear her complain about that song?

She'll just think it's some song she's never heard before. Only DF will get it, and that's what counts! :thumbsup2

Edited to add: Oooohhh... I found it... it's the Imperial March. She's still not going to know what it is - Star Wars is not from her generation.... It's like how you and I wouldn't know if someone played a Hannah Montana song at their wedding....

Okay, you guys...

I stole some ideas off of this board from various people and put them together for my vision of my Welcome bags. I don't remember specifically where I got each idea. So if I don't name you, I'm sorry.

My welcome bags look like this...
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/mickeydrawstringbag.jpg

They're a lot smaller than I realized when I bought them. I got them off of ebay for $2.44 each including shipping! I thought they were a great deal.

In them I'm putting 2 mini bottles of water
-a rigid cone (favor supply container type thingy) filled with nuts
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/conesfornuts.jpghttp://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/conesfornuts2.jpg

-a bag of pretzels, a granola bar

-small pillow boxes (that are frosted with the clear parts reading different sizes of love) filled with personalized M & Ms with our names on some and WDW and 2/4/08 on others
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/mmszoom.jpghttp://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/mms.jpg
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/pillowboxes.jpghttp://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/pillowboxpackage2.jpg

-A bag of candy (chocolates and surgar candies) in the hawaiian shirt cello bags tied with differnt colors of ribbon with little matted tags that say Remember, love is sweet... Enjoy the Sugar Rush, in the Disney font (I for sure stole this from Caryn w/o permission, lol)
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/candybags2.jpghttp://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/candybags.jpg
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/candybagtags.jpg

-Another plain cello bag filled with travel size tissues, purell, sunblock and disney band-aids.
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/barenecessitiesbags.jpg
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/barenecessities.jpg
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/barenecessities2.jpg
This bag is going to be folded over and sealed with these lables...
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/welcomebaglables002.jpg
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/welcomebaglables001.jpg

The only reason I have picture of these is because I just made them here at work. I'll try to take pictures of everything else I can tonight if FSIL hasn't packed it already b/c most of this is being purchased in disney (the water, candy, nuts and pretzels) (edit: pictures have obviously been added!)

And then finally, each bag will be topped off with a mahalo lei since our Welcome dinner is at Ohana. I got the leis from Oriental Trading. They're not the most expensive, but they're not the cheapies either... For some reason though, my two dozen only came with the left two color combos? I just realized that today!

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/MahaloLeis.jpg
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/leis2.jpg
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/leis.jpg

Finally, I made name tags out of the Behr Mickey Head Paint Chips you can get from home depot. I had them laying around (in my scrapbook room) so I used at black sharpie and just wrote everyones name on them, punched holes in them and thread them with different color ribbons. I'll try to get pics tonight if they're not packed away already!
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/paintchiptags.jpg
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/paintchiptagszoom.jpg

I also did the tags and cut the ribbon for the JAs... So, all Christie has to do is put them together. We went with "Chuck and Wendy February 4, 2008"
but I really wanted to use this and I even printed them... "Best Wishes For Chuck & Wendy, Welcome Dinner February 2, 2008, Hosted by: Mr. and Mrs. K******" Alas, they would have overpowered the little bundles of JAs, so I went with the first ones, unmatted with inked edges!
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/wendykampe/JAtags.jpg
These won't be in the welcom bags. We're putting them at the place settings at Ohana.

And here's everything packed away in Christie's carry-on!!

Welcome bag ideas are great. I think we're going to do the lei thing for 'Ohana too! It's just too perfect not to!

:goodvibes Okay, I emailed Kathleen for the change. She probably won't respond until tomorrow.

I left work and went tanning and then I had to run home to drop something off for my sister to pick up. So while I was home I took pictures of everything that we have so far for the welcome bags...

I'll post up tonight or tomorrow. Then I helped FSIL pack it all in a carry-on. She leaves tomorrow for FL.

Okay, you guys, I can't believe how close it is and I'm totally freaking out. I've given myself a 10 minute time limit and then I gotta get back to my homework. I'm sitting in the computer lab and haven't started the last two assignments yet. And I've only got two hours left!!! First I sit down and get a call from my Mom, then my Sister, then my Mom again. Heck I've been in the stairwell more than I've been in the lab.

All I can say is that I can't this believe this is happening. I'm sooo ready to be married but I so am not ready for this wedding. I think my freaking out is irrational and disproportionate to issues at hand, but I can't seem to calm myself down. AND food and me our not friends at all. Nothing sounds appealing and I can't get anything down. :scared:

OH and here's a Too Much Information Alert!!!! ATTENTION, IF YOU ARE A DUDE OR A CHICK WHO DOESN'T TALK ABOUT PERSONAL STUFF... DON'T SCROLL DOWN!

I'm so stressed out that I'm having heavy break-through bleeding despite being in the middle of my pill pack. I even went on sunday to get another pack b/c I'm just going to skip the placebos and roll into a new pack while we're in Flordia (checked with my doc and she said it was fine.) So, that's really irritating and I feel bloated and I just want the bleeding to END. :cool2: The hater blockers are for Aunt Flo! lolol.

Okay, sorry if that was too much! Now I'm going to actually do some work!! :teacher:

OMG! same with me on flo!!!! i was supposed to be on placebo's my entire wedding week, so i just went through another pill pack, but i had break through as well. i have too many issues in that dept to go into, but it was so freaking annoying.

that is such a good idea using the behr paint samples! i LOVE it!

Ok, so where in the ceremony does the Imperial March fit? It would be hysterical if it was as you are walking down the aisle to the groom, start with the first few bars of the traditional stuff to get everyone's attention then into the Star Wars stuff. I would SO do it!!

Oh and Kathleen just emailed me back this morning!!

I think we have that- I'll check and let you know today. I'm assuming you want this for the recessional? Or are you planning on being Darth Vader and coming in to this? Let me know....
my response:

I want to be DARTH VADER, ha ha. I want to come in to this. I would still like to keep the recessional the spectromagic music we originally chose. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! Eeeee! This makes me soooo happy.

I also let her know that Carrie and I don't want to be kept seperate!!

Also, I wanted to let you know that I know there is another bride getting married the same day at the Morocco pavilion in the morning. Her name is Carrie. They are then taking a boat from somewhere to somewhere... but we're thinking that we may end up in the vicinity of eachother at the same time. (at BWI right before my wedding.) We don't HAVE to coordinate a meeting, but if we come across each other, PLEASE DO NOT keep us apart. We want to meet and we would love to get a picture in our dresses together. We're all about disrupting the space-time continuum! ha ha!!

Sorry Carrie that I'm a soo frazzled :hippie: that I couldn't keep your schedule straight... I think you're coming from the attic going to Epcot? That doesn't seem right... I'm confused. :confused3 Now I have to go back and reread your PJ. :cutie:

Woo Hoo!!!:cool1:

Oh, and I took pictures of my honeymoon photo shoot/ Welcome dinner attire...
The dress is I.N.C. from Macy's.. don't know if you can see the wood bead detailing, but I think it's perfect for Ohana.

My planners latest response!

I've heard of brides calling their new mother-in-laws Darth Vader, but never themselves! :)- As for you and Carrie meeting up, as long as we know you're both okay with it then we won't try to keep you apart. If you are in the same place at the same time and neither one of you is running late for anything, you can definitely get a picture together. I'll let you know as soon as I hear back from Entertainment. Thanks!

Hooray! I'll email my planner too. We will be leaving BoardWalk Inn to get a boat back to our hotel, BCV, a little after 2pm, and I think you will be getting ready to walk to SBP from BWI at the same time, cuz your wedding's at 2:30, right?

Boy, I better start losing weight so I don't look like the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man next to you in our pic! :lmao:

I really need some wedding stress too! The only time that I can't eat when I get stressed is when it has to do with DBF. For my own sanity and health, I prefer to be stressed over everything else! I'll try to convince my self that the I-must-look-good-in-a-bathing-suit-in-San-Diego stress will make me stop eating. It's tough since I love good food.

Wendy, I'll be in Detroit for a TKD tournament in July! You'll have to tell me about some of the good Moraccan places out there!

MistressOfAllEvil

TKD- Tae Kwon Do. Sorry! I didn't even realize that I had written that down that way. There is a really good restaurant in Philly (also called Marrakkesh), but I haven't been there in about 6 years. I'm slowly getting DBF into Indian. So Morracan and other middle eastern isn't that far of a stretch.

Happy Day After Wedding & Happy Honeymoon!

I just returned from an 8 hour drive from the World:faint: and I'm soooo...tired. But I just had to post! Congrats on your beautiful wedding!! We were there on Monday walking to Epcot when I caught a glimpse of your wedding at the Boardwalk!!!!! You looked beautiful! The weather was perfect, a little hot, but otherwise picture perfect! I hope everything went the way you hoped!!!

It was soooo...weird (in a good way  ) to be down there and see your wedding happen after faithfully reading your VR! It was quite magical and a highlight of our short trip. I can't wait to hear the complete TR!!!

okay, we're back in the states from our cruise honeymoon... I'm posting up from my iPhone! We fly back to MI tonight and tomorrow is grocery shopping and laundry and assimilation back into reality. I
hope to start my trip report this week and I'll get wedding sneak pics up FIRST (because I'm all about instant gratification) LOL.

I can promise that my trip report won't be as quick as Caryn's but I'll try to keep it all coming at a quick pace. I'm just happy to be married and back to the board! Ha ha!

What are all you crazies doing stalking my PJ in the middle of the night? GO TO BED!! :lmao: J/K.

Sorry guys. I've had a rough time coming back to reality. We got back Saturday night just in time to go to bed. All day Sunday I did chores to get the house back in order. I unpacked and did ever bit of laundry we own. :laundy: Grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning. I felt very wife-like. And then it was back to work yesterday. I tell you what, I was exhausted last night. No naps?!? This is insane! And coming back to the cold, grey, snowy weather of Michigan has not helped either.

Tonight I hope to get my homework done (at the :surfweb: lab at school) then dinner, clean-up, thank you notes and start sorting pictures. And then I've got class Wednesday and Thrusday. And I know it's hard to tell, but I really am trying to actually work at work!! :rotfl:

I promise pictures soooooooon!

okay, I love ya guys, thanks for checking in and sticking with me!!!! :grouphug:

Okay, so I lied. I think the only way to truly understand what state I was in leading up to the wedding is to include this day. Because some wedding related stuff happen this day that really comes into play later on. This may be a bit of a disappointment as there are no pictures, but I promise Day 1 will have some!

Day 0, Part 1 - Thursday, January 31, 2008

If you’ve been through it, you already know. Something happens to a destination bride the week before she has to leave for her destination wedding. Sleep and appetite were elusive. I worked Monday through Wednesday and I still went to class Wednesday night. I had spent the previous weekend in the computer lab at school trying to "get [two and a half weeks] ahead” with my homework for my two classes. So, that time wasn’t spent prepping for the wedding. That time wasn’t spent doing laundry or cleaning up or organizing or packing or creating my master itinerary. You would think that with all that time in the lab, I would be set. But I wasn’t. I still had one more assignment to get done that was due while I was gone. Wednesday night after class I did the tutorial for the assignment, but I was so unfocused that I don’t think I absorbed one instructional task.:hippie:

So Thursday. Thursday was going to be MY day. The day it all comes together. I had high expectations. I had taken the day off work! I had no intention of actually going to class that night and I was going to efficiently get everything packed up for the trip. Had I mentioned that I still hadn’t finished an assignment? And the laundry wasn’t done? And I had scheduled my mani/pedi and chiropractor appt. in the middle of the day. And I had to hit the tanning salon one last time to cash in on my free upgrade to a high-pressure bed that I had been sitting on until right before the wedding??

Since sleep was not happening no matter how hard I tried, I was up and at the gym by the time it opened at 6am. I figured if I was going to lie in bed doing nothing, working out would be a positive way to start what was sure to be a stressful day. I just did cardio, but I did a full hour and I felt good about myself and the day. My future was bright.

I left the gym, swung thru the gas station (no reason to come home to an empty tank) and hit up the Starbucks. I got home, choked down some yogurt for breakfast (at this point any eating was to maintain functionality only) and jumped in the shower. After showering and getting ready, I was torn. I had about 45 minutes before I needed to leave my immediate geographic area to head towards the salon where I was having my mani/pedi. My choices were to either go tanning or go to school and finish that last assignment I still had left.

I choose school. Because I wanted it off my shoulders. I wanted to go with my day with that completely not an issue. I get to the lab. I start the assignment. I realize that I can’t recall ANYTHING from the tutorial I had done the night before. What should have taken me NO MORE THAN the 45 minutes that I had was taking waaaaay, way longer. My appointment was at 10:30am and it was going to take me a minimum 30 minutes to get from school out to where the appointment was. Every time I finished a step in the assignment I felt new hope. That it was going to be a snap to finish. That I was going to breeze through the assignment. I watched the clock creep toward 10am. I started to panic around ten after ten. I was almost done. One more step left and I made an error. I wanted to delete a worksheet from the excel workbook I was in. I was frantic and frenzied and not thinking. So, what do I do? I ex out the window and click okay when it asks me if I’m sure! I lost the whole workbook! I lost the whole assignment! It was now 10:15am. I’m going to be late for my appointment. And the assignment is not done!!!. What can I do at this point? I close everything down and pack up. I leave after being there for over an hour and I have nothing to show for it. This is the beginning of the end for me. This was the point where I felt sure that I was going to be behind and late until after the wedding some 5 days later on Monday night.

I shove my crap into my car and speed off in the general direction of where this salon is supposed to be. A word about the salon and why I was going there for my mani/pedi when I have a perfectly wonderful place that is a lot closer, who does an amazing job that lasts FOREVER, all for only $35; one of my girlfriends gave me as my shower gift a gift certificate to the salon that she and my other friend/bm Jenna go to. I was actually meeting Jenna there, and I was late. So, I gave her a call to let her know I was on my way. Would the still take me? She said it shouldn’t be a problem as they take walk-ins too.

I hung up with Jenna and gave my friend Wendy (yes, we’re both Wendy’s) a call. I just vented to her about my frustration with my school episode and I foreshadowed an upcoming issue. Christie had left for Florida the night before and she told me to “keep my phone close” because she would be doing the rest of the shopping for the welcome bags and wanted to make sure she could get a hold of me. Something in me just knew that she would be calling when I couldn’t pick up...

Finally I arrive at the salon, it’s 11am, I’m a half hour late but it doesn’t seem to be a problem. Jenna’s already half way through her spa pedicure and I hop in the chair next to her. Now, Wendy (who had given me the certificate) had told me to request “Tom”, so I did, when I made the appointment. Sadly, that was not who actually did my work. I had an older gentleman by the name of Sean. The American names were really deceiving as they were still of an Asian decent and communication was limited! I have to admit the spa pedi was great. They used a yummy mango citrus scrub, it was quite nice. My tootsie turned out okay. I asked for French and the tips were a bit too thick for me (even if it is toes instead of fingers.) At this point Jenna’s done since she only got a pedi, so she’s leaving. We say our goodbyes until we meet again in Florida.

Sean and I move on to working on my nails and this is where I start to become concerned. For the most part my nails are already shaped the way I like. Pretty much flat on top, but with rounded sides. I don’t want a 90 degree point on either side of each nail. That’s a dangerous accident waiting to happen. Well, he flattens all my nails despite having a perfect example/guide right there in front of him. When I ask him to round the corners, he ends up rounding the whole nail!! Not overly round the way a mom (my mom, chuck’s mom) would do it. But round enough that I don’t like. I also don’t like that I’m running behind, I can’t communicate well with this guy, and that things are going the way they are. So I tell him that it’s fine. Because really, in the grand scheme of things, it was okay enough. So then he proceeds to do a crappy job at cleaning up my cuticles and painting my nails. There we whole sections on the sides of my nails that he completely missed! And he kept trying to make small talk with me... but it was odd. He asked where I was from!?! Now I live in Warren, which I think is still the 4th largest city in MI. It’s not the most upscale area, but I don’t present myself as trashy or ghetto! This salon was in Rochester, which is a bit ritzier of an area. But what difference does all this make?? I just felt like I received sub-par service. :snooty: I tried to throw it into the broken conversation a couple of times that I was getting married. It just didn’t seem to make a difference. My nails looked kinda crappy and I was bummed, but I certainly didn’t have the time that day to have the situation corrected. I sit at the drying station and after a short amount of time, Sean comes over and checks me and tells me that I’m good to go?!? I’ve never be excused from the drying station before. I usually sit until I’m confident that I don’t jack anything up. I guess I seemed dry. I wasn’t tacky. But there was no way I could have been even partially set... But, in my weakened pre-wedding state, I obediently put my socks and shoes back on (!) and squirmed into my coat and headed off to my next appointment for which I was already late.

Side Bar: While all this was going on at the salon, I had the added benefit of Christie calling while I was getting my nails done. Of course I didn’t answer the first time. And her voicemail: “I told you to keep your phone on and near you today [and some other stuff about how she can’t find anything I wanted for the welcome bags]” in the most annoyed voice ever. Now this is the only thing she really was responsible for. The only thing I delegated. The only thing I asked her to do. How big of an imposition can it really be?? So, I call her back to inform her that I was actually getting my manicure, thinking she would understand that I can’t be on the phone. She didn’t. She proceeds to call 4 more times!! Now I appreciate that she is basically saddled with her older parents as they will not just let her take the car to run errands and they have to go everywhere with her despite her turning 30 this year. And I know how frustrating it can be operating with that entourage. And I know she was frustrated that she couldn’t get a hold of me, but she had a pretty clearly defined list of what I wanted. She went to one (and then another) store; couldn’t find what I wanted, then basically panicked and gave up. At one point she even left me a voice mail to see if Shrek band-aids were an okay alternative! Shrek isn’t even Disney!!! Noooooooo. :headache: Needless to say that nearly everything that was purchased in Florida for the welcome bags was NOT what I wanted.

I’m in the car, nursing my nails, smoking like a fiend, trying to dial the chiropractor’s office on my iPhone. My appointment was for 1pm. It’s already a quarter after. There’s no way I’m going to make it there until at least 1:45pm, probably closer to two. Now thank goodness they’re not appointment Nazi’s at my Dr.’s office. The receptionist is super-sweet. She tells me I’m welcome whenever I make it! At this point I realize I haven’t eaten since for nearly 6 hours and I’m shaky from the caffeine, nicotine and hypoglycemia! I roll thru the Mickey D’s (the worst choice, I know. But all I could even imagine getting down. I wasn’t eating at this point for pleasure. My motive was purely survival.) and scarf down half a double cheeseburger and a large coke. Usually I reserve a large McDonald’s coca-cola for test days only. I had to cut out coke after I realized how bad it is for me! But I absolutely love it. On my CP I would wake up and head directly to the balcony for my morning coke and a smoke. Alas, my days of decadence are mostly over.

I arrive at the chiropractors just after two. I’m Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. I probably wait for 15 minutes. Which isn’t bad. Except when you’re running thru your to-do list in your head and you realize that you have more to do than there are hours left in this oh-so-important day. Keep in mind; I still haven’t done the laundry I need to do. There’s that evil assignment that I continually oscillated between going back and finishing and not. And the packing. Oh the packing.

I get called into a room and Dr. Rosie comes in. Everyone knows that we’re leaving for the wedding the next day. She asks how it’s going and I run through my day to that point. So then she hugs me... which starts me crying. I assure her I’m okay and she refuses to adjust me without therapy first. So I let them do ultrasound therapy on my neck and shoulders and then I get my adjustment! Way better than cracking your neck yourself! I tell ya what. Then they convince me to try the hydro-bed for free. It will calm me! Hmmmm... okay fine. Never mind that I’m so far behind that I may never make it to my own wedding. It was nice, but at that point, I don’t think anything was relaxing me. By the time I left there it was shortly after 3pm. On to the bank for cash and then to the tanning salon.

Now, the tanning salon is funny because I was using my free upgrade to the high-pressure bed, which I’ve never used before. I only bought a month package 3 weeks before we were supposed to leave and before that I never had tanned with the exception of once back in high school a gazillion years ago. So the tanning girl, Cheryl, shows me all the buttons on the machine and I prepare and hop in the bed. This is where I find out that my tootsies are jacked. It was a waste of a pedicure. I went to take my right sock off and it stuck to my toes. I guess this is partially my fault for not bringing some flip-flops, but I felt like I had been pressured out of the salon. :sad1:

Back to tanning... when I had talked to Christie a few days eariler she had told me that going the full time in the high-pressure is okay, that I wouldn’t burn, but she also said that is wasn’t as warm as the other beds. So I left all the fans off. About 15 minutes in I’m sweating and I reach over and I hit the wrong button. Instead of turning on the fan, I turn off the bed! I don’t know what to do to make it start again. Finally, after trying to figure it out, I give up and start to get dressed. I’m 75% dressed and it comes back on!!! I don’t know how or why, but it is. So I strip back down and hop in and it shuts off after only a minute!! Grrrrr. I get out, get dressed, thank Cheryl and head out to my car. Now I have to make that decision. The one I had been flipping and flopping on all day. It’s a quarter after 4pm. Do I go home? Do the laundry? Start organizing and packing? Or do I go to school and redo the assignment that I lost? I choose school.

I think to myself, how hard could it be? I’ve already done it once. Sure I struggled the first time, but now I really know what I’m doing. Nope. My unfocused confusion from the night before had carried over to that morning and I didn’t really pay attention to anything I was doing. So I struggled with the assignment again. I got stuck in all the same spots. And normally this stuff is not a challenge for me at all. I can usually breeze right through it! I finally finished at ten after 6pm. Class had started at 6, but I wasn’t planning on going. I packed everything up except for the accrued assignments. I walked out of the computer lab, down the hall and into the classroom. The teacher was lecturing but I didn’t interrupt other than to hand him the assignments. I gave a small wave to my friend Mike (we’re school friends, we’ve been scheduling our classes together for the last three semesters) and then I finally headed home!!

Okie Dokie... I’m actually working at work and this was all I could muster today.

 I'm sorry your day was so stressful, I'm sure your wedding was beautiful. It had to be it was in "The Happiest Place On Earth." I think all brides have stressful days leading from the time you leave until the day of the wedding. The wedding day becomes beautiful and you marry your prince charming or mafia prince:rotfl: Just kidding! I can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip and see pictures as well.

Wendy, I'm sorry your day went so bad.

I'm hoping your next part, which I assume will include Detroit Metro, is not as bad. But I know my kids got a snow day that day. (I'm about 45-50min south of the Detroit airport).

You poor girl! It seems as if Murphy's Law was working overtime for you on day 0.

Take out the hammer and bash the computer :badpc:

LOL, man-o-man, I would have loved to bash the computer, but it really wasn't the computer's fault, now was it. NO! It was mine. I knew it was mine. That just added to the stress. Knowing that I was being careless and making stupid mistakes! Grrrr! Thanks for the hugs...

Oh geez.... That is how I envision the couple days leading up to our departure. I'm just less than 3 months out and I've got a million To-Do lists going through my mind already! I'm at least glad that your chiropractor appointment was a good thing! Can't wait to read more.

Yeah, I kinda knew that's how it would end up. I even thought about taking an extra day off so that I had two days off before we left, but my check was already taking a hit and you still gotta pay the bills. :rolleyes1 I'm glad that I muscled through school and still took classes rather than wasting a whole semester, but that really detracted from getting other stuff done. There just weren't enough hours that day or that week! Hope you have the leeway to plan more accordingly and leave yourself some extra time.

Ugh! What a day ! So, sorry!

Tell me about it, thanks!

Oh my gosh! I'm SO frustrated for your past self! It sounds like one of those dreams where you have to be somewhere and you keep trying to get there but you're moving in slow motion.

I gotta go get a cupcake or something to calm down.... :sad2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl: Did the cupcake work?? I'm frustrated for my past self too. Actually, when I was writing that first installment I could feel the frustration bubbling up again! Getting through the first three days of installments is going to be rough, as it really didn't get better until Saturday night or Sunday!

You're right... it does turn out good in the end (hope I didn't shock anyone by giving away the ending! :rotfl2: ) And you're right, it's always stressful like that in the begining. For some reason, I don't think it matters how much I plan ahead, I still succumb to the stress in situations like this! :sad2:

Holey smokes dear!
What a day... hope it went much better afterwards...

afterwards when? After that day? Or the next? Or after the wedding? Stay tuned many twists and turns to come.

i'm sorry, i hope you're at least able to smile at the tanning bed situation...that's just so horrible it's funny ya know? tanning is my nap time, i can't imagine the darned thing going off with no warning...

OMG... I just laugh. It was comical in the moment. I could have cried. But it would have been lame tears because I knew it was quite hysterical. And I knew it would make a good story.

Oh my goodness I think I got gray hair from reading about your stress.

Obviously you were not wearing your :cool2: that day!

I was wearing them, but they weren't perscription strenght obviously. Please administer a cupcake (see lurkyloo's post above) to stave off any more graying; I can't be held responsible.

Going-On-In-My-Life-Right-Now Update: I’m happy to report that I received the aforementioned assignment back in class last week along with the others I had turned in early and I got 50/50 on all of them!! I’m happy, but I still don’t know if it was worth the added aggravation.

Picture Disclaimer: Still no pictures during Day 0, but I’ve got pictures for Day 1, so bear with me.

Day 0, Part 2 - Thursday, January 31, 2008

I’m home FINALLY. But it’s 6:30pm, and I still have 3 loads of laundry to get done before I can consider packing. I got right on that. I barely had my coat off and I was sorting. Yes, I sort. Chuck doesn’t sort. That’s why I do the laundry. Besides, laundry is the one chore I usually enjoy. :laundy: :cool1:

By 7pm I’m wondering where Chuck is. He often works late, that’s just the nature of the beast that is his job; but come on, the night before we leave?!? I call his phone and it rings once and then goes to voicemail. He threw me into voicemail!! Ooooh, I tell you what, that really frosted my buttons. But then not even a minute later I get a text that he’s at Jon Jon’s.

Jon Jon’s is a strip club. :love1:

I’m okay with strip clubs, whatever, rock on. But the night before we have to leave? This is part of why I was so disappointed with Anthony. He really dropped the ball on a lot, including Chuck’s bachelor party. We had talked about it early on and I was under the impression that he was going to plan a whole traditional party. I was down with it and even gave him names and numbers of Chuck’s friends who should be there. People he went to school with, fraternity brothers and the like. Well, it never got planned. The prior weekend they went out for a “man’s night,” the two of them and 3 others. I think they went to Buffalo Wild Wings (it was so unmemorable, that I don’t remember!) for dinner and then to a lame-o bar for some drinks. That was it! Ugh.

So, he’s at Jon Jon’s, but he also said he would be home soon. Okie dokie. I start pulling suitcases out and creating piles of things to pack. I’m not a list packer. And I’m not an early packer. So, I wasn’t too freaked out about the packing, I was just frustrated that I had to wait for the laundry.

Chuck shows up in a relatively short amount of time and when he walks in the door, I’m immediately repulsed. Not because they tore his underwear (is that even sexy? A wedgie? :confused3 ) but because he smelled sooooooooooooooooooo GROSS. I don’t know what dime store stink the girls were wearing but ick! So nasty. I had to hold my breath to even hug him. I really kept encouraging him to TAKE A SHOWER. Then he gave me the whole story. It turns out that they threw him a party at work that day. party: They served carrot cake :cake: (his favorite) and presented him with a card (signed by a gazillion people) with a hefty BB&B gift card!

Etiquette Side Bar: For this particular gift... what do I do for thank you notes? Do I need to write an individual thank you for each person that signed the card? I’m assuming that everyone contributed. It’ll be over 30 people. I know it’s probably the right thing to do; I’m just looking for a kick in the pants to ‘do the right thing.’

It’s now after seven and I’m starved. My appetite has returned!! And I didn’t lose it again once before the wedding. I really wanted Pei Wei, but Chuck refused to go pick up food there because last time he had a bad experience, so I settled for (kinda gross) Coney Island. Not everyone has Coney Islands where they live. It was one of the things I would crave while I was living FL! Coney Island is a cousin to the cheap-o Greek Diner. We have a chain here called National Coney Island and it’s a landing spot for many late-night, drunken pig-outs. (Uh... a gazillion years ago, I don't do that anymore. I'm not sure if it's b/c I'm too mature or too old. There's a difference you know.) I ordered up a gyro and some chili cheese fries and kept at the sorting and pile making while Chuck was out procuring the pseudo-food.

All the while I have the TV on in the background because don’tcha know we were expecting a huge snowstorm! I can't remember if I mentioned this in the previouse installment, but this was a looming concerning that I had been carrying around with me since the night before. I had also fielded calls from both my mom and my sister, as if I had the answer to keeping mother natures wrath at bay?!? They were predicting 10” with snowfall starting around midnight and really picking up speed between 6 and 9 am. Our flight was at 9:10 am. I was panicking. Anthony was on deck to drive us to the airport and we had originally planned on him picking us up at 6:30am to be there around 7am. Earlier in the day we pushed it up to 6:15am to ensure we were on the road by 6:30. Now I was on the phone with him again, insisting on a 6am pick-up. He reassured me that all would be well and if at any time I felt like we needed him earlier to give him a call. I told him that monitoring the situation shouldn’t be difficult as I didn’t anticipate sleeping AT ALL. After some chuckles at how bride-stressed-crazy I was :scared: , we hung up. Chuck returned with my dinner (and his too) and I ate every bit! He tried to push some left over carrot cake on me, but really that was just too much. I’m not even a big carrot cake fan.

I was still plugging away at the laundry and Chuck need a haircut. So, out came the clippers and we got him all dashing looking for the upcoming nuptials. After I cut his hair... HE TOOK A SHOWER! :cool1:  It was like a breath of fresh air.

I finished up with all the laundry around 10pm and we started packing all the semi-organized piles into the bags. At one point, I realized that everything I had packed in one bag needed to be removed and repacked into another bag! I can’t really tell you why now... but at the time it was daunting and overwhelming. I think it had something to do with the fact that one check suitcase and one carry-on was not going to cut it. We ended up with the majority of everything packed by 1am or so. We still had toiletries and the like to pack up the next morning after we showered and got ready, but we ended up in really good shape. If you consider really good shape to be stressed, sleep-deprived, and mentally and emotionally exhausted good shape. I posted up my good-bye on the Dis, a brief break around midnight as the packing frenzy was winding down. I compiled my techie pile to be packed up the next morning in my computer bag along with all of our oh-so-important documents. I didn’t actually put everything in the bag, but left it in a pile as I knew I would have to unpack it and verify it was there (to satiate my OCD tendencies) in the morning. Finally, I crawled in bed around 1:30am. The alarm was set for 4am. And, I actually slept! Oh sweet sleep.

Up Next: Do we get snowed in? Will we make it to Florida? Can I survive yet another day of perpetual stress? And my sister shocks me by being responsible!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Coney Island. Ever since I moved out to Chicago I go through intense cravings for their fabulous Greek salads. Coney Island is definitely one of the things I miss most about Michigan. DBF and I decided that when we're done with school we're going to open up a Coney Island in Florida for all the snowbirds that go down for the winter.

Hi Wendy! Great start to your TR - well, the writing, not the events! Hard to believe such a stressful day could have happened!

I'm a native Michigander myself, so I know all about those snow forecasts... and Coney Island of course!

Oh, in answer to your etiquette question, honestly, I wouldn't write any thank you cards to your DH's coworkers. I'd have to assume that he thanked them on your behalf. That's just me though.

Looking forward to hearing the rest - hope things got better!

Regarding the office wedding gift - I would definately write a thank-you note to the entire group. Send it in care of the top dog or admin and then they can post it or pass it around. Even if your DH has verbally thanked the people, I think that you should officially thank them as well. I wouldn't worry about individual thank you notes.

I don't have time to comment back to everyone here at work, but I promise I will. I figured you guys would rather have the next installment with it's lone picture!

Day 1, Part 1 - Friday, February 1, 2008

Bad things happen when you live in Michigan. Perhaps you have a mild winter; hardly any snow for Christmas. And just when you think you’re safe Mother Nature and Old Man Winter get together and brew up a nasty storm to ruin all of your plans 3 days before you’re supposed to get married. Okay, maybe it’s not that bad.

The alarm was set for 4am, but I was up before that. I showered, woke Chuck and worked to complete all of our last minute packing. All the while I’m looking outside and watching the snow come down in buckets? In pillows? What’s the appropriate unit of measure for snow? Anthony texts at 5:30am wanting to know what we want from Starbucks and I have Chuck text him to skip Starbucks and come straight for us. Do not stop, do not pass go. He arrives at 5:50am and we are packed and ready to go. We ended up with 3 large pieces of luggage to check, we each had our computer bags and I had my large black WDW bag with my purse in it that I carried on as my ‘purse’. We load everything up in his truck and take off.

I spent the whole trip doing one of 3 things:

1.) Using Google maps on my iPhone to check traffic to the airport.
2.) Praying that Anthony didn’t spin us out of control. :scared1:
3.) Calling my sister to ensure that she got up and left early enough for the airport since her flight was at 9:40am. :sad2:

The roads were bad. Really bad. And Anthony was trying to get us there as fast as possible so he was driving a little too aggressively for my taste. There were a couple of times I wasn’t sure we would even survive the drive.

I also called my sister at least 8 times before she finally answered. Let me preface this by saying that I have no faith in my sister. She’s only 15 months younger than me, but there was a three year grade difference in school and she’s in my mind still so young and irresponsible. I thought she for sure was going to miss her flight. She finally answers as we’re pulling up to the service drive for the airport. Not only had she not overslept, she was already at the airport! AMAZING! I was so proud of her in that moment. And I felt really bad because I left her all these crazy messages warning her of how bad the roads were and ‘hoping’ she was already up and on her way! She even laughed at us because we weren’t there yet (we were 5 minutes from being dropped off curbside.) I breathed a sigh of relief, wished her a good flight and promised to talk to her when we got in to MCO.

We arrive at the airport, get checked in with no problems, stop at the Starbucks for some beverages and head off to our gate. Chuck picks on me because he’s an airport pro since he travels for work so much. I have no idea where we’re going because we’re in the fancy, new terminal flying on Northwest. Normally I fly out of dirty, grimy, old Smith terminal on Spirit.

While we are waiting to board the flight I speak with Keith from Carolyn Allen and let him know that my flight is still showing that it’s on time. He says to just come from the airport to the salon for Chuck to get fitted. I try calling Veronica again from Beaute Speciale since she wanted pre-payment for our make-up appointments by Wednesday and it’s now Friday. I get her voicemail again, so I leave a message. Miraculously she calls me back just a few minutes later and I give her my credit card information. It turns out that she does all the booking but she’s on the West Coast. That just doesn’t make sense to me. And, she said that she doesn’t check her voicemail often. Now that really doesn’t make sense to me. However, we’re all paid and confirmed so I’m A-OK on that front.

Chuck and I were just hanging and chatting and I was going a million miles a minute doing the almost-my-wedding-day-overloaded-bride thing and I remembered that I needed to D-O-C-U-M-E-N-T for the Dis and this TR. I pulled my camera out to take the first picture of the trip and the guy sitting across from us was kind enough to offer to take the picture!

:headache: I cannot find that picture?!?

While we were waiting, Chuck took the opportunity to tell me how we were going to board. We were still in coach, but we were flying business elite so we got to board the plane right after first class. In this case, extra time on the plane was not to our advantage.

We board the plane on time. And then we waited. And waited. And waited some more. Then the flight attendant gets on the speaker to let us know we’re waiting for some people who need to be on the flight who are still on their way to the airport?!? I’ve never heard of such a thing. After 20 minutes or so a group of 4 people get on and get settled. Yet, they don’t close the door. So, we’re still waiting. Then the attendant gets on the speaker again saying that we’re now waiting for some folks from a connecting flight!! Finally, those people board. An hour has passed since we boarded ‘on time’ and we’re still sitting there. Our seats were just in front of the engines and we were lucky enough to watch them defrost them. I’m not a nervous flyer, but this was a tad scary to me. We finally start taxiing and the pilot comes on to let us know that we’re pulling up to a station to be de-iced. He made a lame attempt at a lame joke to let us know that we had an appointment so it should take long. Ha! When we finally finished with that the pilot comes back on to let us know that we’re taxiing to the runway and that we’re second or third in line to take off. Apparently that didn’t work out for us because we ended up being directed to another runway and we waited FOREVER.

During all this waiting, I decided to document and we did a self-picture on the plane.

Note the snow outside the window of the plane!

Finally we take off!! At this point we’re over 2 hours late. I’m thankful that we’re flying but I’m also concerned about all the errands we have to run when we land and that we lost 2 hours out of our day. I’m also really excited to be leaving the cold, snowy, nasty weather of MI and arrive in my sunny, warm happy place. I don’t know about the rest of you, but when I step off the plane everything plumps. My dry skin becomes supple and my hair poufs out and there’s this distinct Florida smell in the air and I  FL.

Up Next: Landing at MCO and the chaos that ensues.

Day 1, Part 1 - Friday, February 1, 2008

Hey guys - didn't a MistressOfAllEvil post on this board? It was a long, long time ago -- feels like years and years ago?

Did someone swipe her name?:confused3

;)

Boo Hiss, Wendy - for snowy weather and slippery roads! And delayed flights! And watching them deice the plane. (I witnessed that once and wanted to promptly disembark from the plane!:rotfl: )

How do you like your iPhone?

Don't answer any of these questions -- just finish your TR and post lots of photos!:goodvibes (My daughter's favorite style of wedding gowns is much like yours - I'm anxious to see your photos. We're going to drive 3.5 hours ONE way this Saturday to a bridal trunk show!:headache: )

Wendy,

Don't you just love the NWA terminal?

The Smith has been dirty and nasty for about 20yrs(since I started flying regularly for business, thank goodness they updated the bathrooms though), but the replacement is opening in September. :yay:

I would consider a 2hr delay not bad considering the weather. I was very worried you wouldn't get out until afternoon.

We upgrade on Airtran at Thanksgiving, my 11 yr old son has now decided thats the only way to fly.

Younger sisters. It's either :cheer2: or :headache:

i'm hoping that as we get further and further into this tr that things start to get better for you OR you at least get some liquid therapy going...
