The pictures do it some justice, but there is nothing like really being there. It is such a beautiful and lush resort, we just love it! Even when it is full to capacity, you would never know it. Have a great trip at a wonderful resort!

I have no pictures but we always begin our visits at WDW at Riverside - our favorite Moderate. It's beautiful.
If you are near the lounge on Wednesday, Friday or Saturday night - checkout Bob. He is an entertainer - very funny. The show begins around 8 pm. It's for all ages (he will get the little ones up on stage - it's adorable).
Checkout the Carriage Rides - say hello to Ace - the horse!
You will be there when the bushes are beginning to flower....it will be lovely.
Have a great trip!

Thanks for all the pictures! Brings back wonderful memories as POR is our favorite resort. We gave french quarter a try just for the sake of "we felt we needed to experience it" ....and we did like it but POR AB section is our all time favorite. Plus, we have tried the food courts in almost all the resorts -value - deluxe and we really enjoy the selection and atmosphere in the Riverside Mill best of all. Just too bad they don't have beneits like they do over at FQ. :jester:

Well I hated POR due to size. I had a personal issue with room placement and it ruined my stay. I liked the resort itself. And the food court was nice. But it was very crowded when we went. The pool was over chlorinated the two times we tried it and there were teenagers in the quiet pools. So we gave up on swimming. I'm going back to POFQ where I loved it. Especially the hot tub and pool bar.

Our room location:

I was very disappointed at first. Then I realized that we were within just a short walk of the parking lot, the main building, the pool area, the first bus stop, and a not-so-quiet quiet pool/laundry facility. I ended up absolutely loving the location and highly recommend it.

I think its like $20 for 30 minutes or so and I think you just have to show them an ID. Oh and you also have to wear a life vest.

we stayed at por over christmas. i don't know why i did'nt take more pics of the inside of the room, especially since i have been on the dis since before my trip and know that people on here like to see pictures. our favorite part of the entire trip was swimming every day.. there were 2 days we didn't even go into the park....granted one was christmas day and knew the parks would be insane. we were in 3905and had a connected room with family in the next room.

Well, we had an unexpected change in plans, since I am now not working until I can find another job....so, we are changing our reservations from beach club to por. I can't wait. When I told the girls, they asked if we can have the same room, so I guess I am going to request 3905, as long as we have a pool outside our door, I'll be happy! We'll be there from july 18-25...maybe we'll see some of you there!!

I just wanted to ask you which you preferred Riverside or Coronado Springs (since you have recently stayed at both) This will be our first stay at a moderate (as a family of 6- just had new addition) We normally stay at the delux for the larger rooms, but I think we might be better off with 2 adjoining rooms at one of these resorts. I'd appreciate any input you might have.

think of this, with 2 connecting rooms, you will have 2 bathrooms. that is going to be a huge difference for you. also, if you bring/order groceries, there are 2 fridges, and 2 tv's for the kids to fight less over what to watch. I know if I had 4 kids, i would much rather having the 2 rooms. make sure you say connecting, adjoining just means side by side...when we checked into por last time, the cm at check in explained the difference.

Thanks for posting the website!!! We were there in October 2007 for the first time at a moderate resort, and we LOVED the resort! I kind of felt like it had the atmosphere and looks of a deluxe, but for much less money!! My kids want to go back so bad, but I am in school right now, so we will have to wait until I am done. Only 2 1/2 more years, so hopefully it will go fast! The resort is very peaceful and all these pictures want me to go back even more!!!:goodvibes

I've been to both (May 2007) and like POR better. POR has a better food court IMHO, sweet potato pancakes at Boatwright's, and the boat to DTD!
They both have great pools and great slides.
I agree that 2 rooms are better than one.

I prefer Port Orleans Riverside over Coronado because of two reasons. First is that there are too many conventioneers at Coronado. Every morning on my walk to get breakfast it was mainly people in business attire with laptops and cellphones. It really breaks the Disney magic first thing in the morning. Then when I'd get back to the resort at night, they would all be outside by the bar and lake making a ton of noise. And secondly, the food court at Coronado, in my opinion, is the worst on property that I've used. Its not run by Disney so the prices are higher than you'd pay anywhere else. Were talking $9.25 for a burger. Its also not setup very well. Its just a bunch of stands with different foods, but there is no line formation, so people are just walking around confused as to "where the line starts and ends", "who's ordered, who hasn't", etc. And to top it off, if you want to eat inside, you have to pay a gratuity because someone will bring you silverware and refill your mug. Even if you have a burger and don't need silverware, you still have to pay cause you ate inside. So if you don't want to pay, you have to eat outside or walk it back to your room. Its just not very convenient at all and way overpriced. The resort is awesome though and its got one of the best pools by far, definitely better than PO. But the only way I'd stay there again is if it became a non convention resort and changed the food court. Those two things definitely outweighed the good stuff for me. So to answer your question, I would choose Port Orleans Riverside if I was you. Sorry if this was too long, but I like to be thorough if Im going to have something negative to say about anything Disney. :rotfl:

We just stayed at POR the last week of February. We really enjoyed our stay. Here are a couple of pics.
I loved this "landing" area outside of the lobby.

Wow! I'm staying at POR for the first time next week...the photos helped me alot!! I wanted POFQ, but my discount only applied here.
One thing I couldn't determine from all of the posts is WHERE do I want a room? I have paid for a preferred room. I'd like to be close to the bus stops, food court and pool....in that order of priority. I saw someone's map, but couldn't read it clearly enough to determine a good location.
I also noticed I didn't care for the "bayou" rooms....not much on the cabin type theming. Prefer the mansion rooms.
THANKS for the thread OP, I'm now really excited!!!

Thanks for all the pics!! We decided to try POR for the first time in Sept. 2009 and at first I was questioning if I made the right decision. After looking at all the pictures now I am really looking forward to it.

Alligator Bayou building #14 is the closest to the food court, lobby, and bus stop. We liked the buildings in this area, as we like the rustic theme. But the rooms in the mansion buildings look great also (at least from the outside). I think next time we would request a room in one of the mansions. We tried to request a room when we made our initial reservations, but they said we could not do that in advance, but when we arrived and checked-in, we requested an Alligator Bayou room, and that's where they placed us. We had a "corner" room with two windows, which was nice because it lets much more daylight into the room. The non-corner rooms only have one window in them. POR is our favorite Disney resort. I can't imagine staying at any other hotel when we go back.

Just wanted to say KUDOS to the person who created the POR Tribute site -- very well done.
I have friends staying at POR (on my recommendation) this May, and this is a perfect site for them to get familiar with the resort. I just read the tip sheet on room location, awesome job!
I love this resort, its our home base, and while we occasionaly venture out to other resorts (WL, POLY),, I have to say, I do love POR. Maybe its because I am frugal, but do you ever get bang for your buck at POR (MHO).
Thanks again for the link, and all those wonderful pictures on this thread!

The pictures are great to look at (keep them comming) and we can’t wait until we arrive at POR 6/29/08—7/05/08. We still have 3 months before our stay begins and have started counting down the days. One thing for sure I will be up-loading a large number of photos when we return. I will be taking a Sony Camcorder, a 24mm Canon w/zoom, and a Sony 10.2mp w/zoom and three 2meg CH cards. These alone will hold close to 650 Hi-Res pictures apiece.;) Which means that I will probable max out my Photobucket account. So if anyone else is there at that time and you see a family of 5 there with DH taking pictures of everything around say hello.
Oh and just in case someone thinks I will run out of space to store my pictures on I will also have my laptop and a 500GB external HD with me.:goodvibes

Well, since there are 5 of us - we will be in Alligator Bayou. (4 adults and 1 child) , it will be cozy, but it's just for 4 nights...
They said with our AP rate, we could get 2 rooms over at All Stars or PoP for like $50 more - but, i think we will just stay where we are - we all love hot tubs, and especially after running, i would be bummed that the all stars don't have them.. And my dd loves slides, and she will be hanging by the pool alot, so i think POR pool area would be a better fit.

I'm sorry, but I thought I posted a question ...but cannot for the life of me find it...so please don't flame me for asking again....can someone tell me if the mansions are considered preferred or is the Alligator Bayou?
Would anyone care to share a good building reccommendation...my priorities in order are 1) buses 2) food court 3) pool.
I think I have paid for a preferred room.

When we went in December, we had a close building....28...and I didn't like it as much as building 34. 34 was really good for the buses (first stop), but far away from the food court. If I ever go to POR again, I would request building 34. In the end, the buses won out for me and I don't mind the walk to the food court.

I will try and answer your question:
POR has waterview rooms, and kingsize beds, and these are the prefered rooms, or at least, these cost more then the standardview. You can get standard rooms in both the AB section, and the Mansion section, just like you can get waterview or kingbed in both sections, you just pay a little more for it.
As far as room location goes, its a very personal thing -- we love the themeing of the AB section, so always ask to be in there, close to the foodcourt. Buildings 14, 15, 18 are all good, very close to the main building, and also close to the foodcourt. It is also pretty close to the main pool -- but let me tell you, one of the best things about POR are the numerous quiet pools, all lovely in themselves, and you are bound to be very close to one, as there are 4 or 5 quiet pools scattered around POR.
If mansions are your thing, (they look gorgeous from the pictures too) there is one mansion that is very close to the main building and the main pool, I think Magnolia is the one that is the closest, but I could be wrong.
I think the main depot by the building (south) is usually considered the 'best' bus stop, because the busses stop here first on the way into the parks. AB buildings 14, 15, 18 are very close to the main bus stop, so in addition to being closest to the food court, you are close to the main bus stop.
My fav building is 14 or 18 in the AB section.
In this thread earlier on, someone gave a link to a site that has a lot of info on Port Orleans, and on it is a very good map to show you the buildings.
Its portorleans.org, and hit the hints and tips page, it gives you ideas of what the 'best' locations are.
One more point,,, best location are very individual, some people very much prefere other buildings that are further away because of the peaceful quiet atmosphere, and other factors. I just gave you what I like, and the reason I like it.

We usually stay at the Polynesian but this trip was just one of my girlfriends and I and I'm SO GLAD that I got the opportunity to stay at POR because I thought it was beautiful, very well themed (we stayed in Alligator Bayou and I loved it because it reminded me of my favorite parts of the Magic Kingdom, which is the entire left-hand side of the park!), very clean, very helpful CMs, etc.

Does the pool have a slide?
Sure does. It gets less attention than the French Quarter one which is a lot more visible, but although most of its run is concealed by the foliage the POR slide is actually twice as long and a bit faster than the POFQ one.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but one thing my family and I do every time we go (3times @POR/FQ) is get up real early around daybreak and go for a walk on the grounds. There wil be small rabbits everywhere. I think they live in the bushes on the grounds. My kids love it because you can walk right up to them. Hope you have a great time.:thumbsup2

I have pics I could post, but won't because they are so similar to others already posted.
:jester:

Thats good to know. In all the pictures of the pool I couldn't see the slide. I was wondering because my kids are excited about the slide. How old do you think a kid has to be to use the slide?
I stood in line with 5 year olds and their grandparents!
There are a few twists and turns, but I don't remember it being fast or scary. Give it a try yourself before you send your kids down.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but one thing my family and I do every time we go (3times @POR/FQ) is get up real early around daybreak and go for a walk on the grounds.
Hey, I love doing that too! Coming from the UK, there's a five-hour time difference when we arrive in Florida so on our first morning our body-clocks are all ready to wake us up at about 3am.
My daughter (7) loves going "moon walking" as she named it a few years ago. We'll probably both be awake by 5am, and before it's even light we'll go for a walk around the resort in the quiet and peaceful darkness, and we watch the dawn arrive on our first morning at WDW.
It's really magical and I love that bit of special father-daughter time as the day starts at Riverside.

Thanks to everyone for posting these pictures! DH and I were originally staying at POFQ but after seeing all of your beautiful pictures I called reservations and switched to POR. This is our first time staying at a "real" disney resort (before that I had stayed at the S&D and WDW Hilton) so I really don't have anything to compare the resorts to. However, Dh & I do not have any children yet and themeing of POR seems a little more adult oriented compared to the Mardi Gras themeing of POFQ (I think its cute, DH thinks it looks tacky). Anyway can't wait to go! Keep the pictures coming!

a) is it more difficult on people with seasonal allergies ??
b) with the river etc. is there any chance of unwanted 'creatures'....alligators :scared1: or anything ????

This may have already been asked but, are there certain buildings that are considered standard view or does each building have their own set of standard view rooms. We are staying in a standard and from what I understand they are the ones that have the trundle bed in them. I am just wondering which building to request (I know they can't guarantee) if any? We have never stayed at this resort before so any info would be great.

Each building has their own set of standard view rooms. If you open the door and are looking at the parking lot you have a standard view room. I wouldn't pay extra for the water view. You don't have a balcony and can't really enjoy it. When you open your door or look out your window you will see the river or a pool.
Only the rooms in AB have trundles. We like this area the best.
I like building 14, 18 and 27. These are the three closest to the main walkway and the main building. We have also stayed in 16, 24, and 39?. The further out you stay the more quiet and peaceful it is. The closer you stay the more people you will see. We stayed in room 1417 which was on the first floor. It was a corner room so one window faced the river and one window faced building 18. It was a great room, but we also had tons of people walking past all the time. There are benefits to all locations.

The only thing I would recommend is possibly not paying for the water view. POR's water views are not really worth it as there are so many little itty bitty creeks or ponds and those are considered water views, when in actuality you can't even see them from your window due to the lush trees and bushes all around. Just a suggestion as I think the money would be better used towards food or souvenirs or maybe even to go to the Pirate and Princess parties if there going on during your stay.

My kids like the slides at both, both they prefer the pool at POR. It has more nooks and crannies to explore. Even though the CSR pool is big it really isn't a "fun" pool.

Just returned from my first stay at POR - resort was sold out but you would never know it..we (my sister & I) barely saw another guest pass our room.
No Mousekeeping issues at all...very peaceful resort. We were nearest to the south depot and always had a seat on the bus. Never waited over 15 min for a bus.
AB room 1721 - near the quiet pool..corner room which was a plus - two full windows.
We did encounter turtles, salamanders, frogs and lots of noises at night but not by our room..mostly by the areas with a creek/water around them..it did feel like a bayou :thumbsup2 .
Enjoy!

My family rented a surrey bike at Boardwalk Inn. It was great fun. I'm really glad we spent the time and money. We rented a 4 seater, but there are smaller ones too. You can see the little seat right up front for small kids. There is even a bar for their feet.

Thanks everyone for the pictures. Great shots. We are going in October and staying at POR. I loved the place the 1st time I went in 2004. It was the first time going with my kids and first time staying on property and I have such nice memories. Since then we've tried CSR 2x, WL and SSR. All wonderful. We were going take a year off from WDW but then I got one of those darn 40% off postcards in the mail and could not resist. I've been second guessing myself since I've booked the trip. Wondering if I should try something new like CBR or the Contemporary as I've always wanted to try it and be on the monorail line. But even at 40% Contemporary was not in the budget so booked POR. Now you all are making me so happy I did!!

Hi,
We were originally booked at CSR for Sept on the bounceback. However I decided to change our reservation to POR.
We go to DtD quite often and the boat was the key.
I thought we would like to stay in the Mansions... but now with all the pictures of AB I am leaning towards requesting that section of the resort.
We will be celebrating our wedding anniversary as well as my ds's 16th birthday. When asked what I want for my birthday or anniversary I always beg for a trip to WDW.
It will just be my dh, ds and the planner(me).
Show me more pictures ...please.
I love all the pictures that have been submitted ... and want more.

I would suggest changing your reservation from a water view to a non-water view. There is a pretty good cost difference, and to me, it is not worth the extra cost. All of the buildings are so beautiful and really all of the views are nice. And, you're far enough back from the river that it's not worth the extra cost, in my opinion. Our first time there, we had an interior courtyard area view. It was fabulous and our girls had the best time watching the bunnies hop around. Our last stay there, we were on the outside of the mansion we were in and the landscaping was just beautiful. I definately did not feel like I was missing out on anything by not asking for a water view.

Nancy - We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside last year as a family of five for 13 nights. My kids were 14, 11 and 8 at the time. We fit just fine, I seem to remember everyone fighting for the trundle bed. We worked it out so that the kids rotated who slept in the trundle - we didn't realize how popular sleeping in the trundle would be. Even my BIG 14 year old son looked forward to his night on the trundle.
I'm not sure how neat you keep your rooms when you visit hotels, but I made sure all the luggage was under the table or next to the TV, the trundle pushed in when not using it, and clothing/snacks/toys put in the appropriate spot. This all helped to create a little bit more room for us. Having 2 sinks in the room helps in the mornings, also.
We really enjoyed Port Orleans - so much so that we are coming back for another 2 weeks this Summer - I know you'll love it.
One other thing - Don't miss Bob Jackson's show. He's in the Bar Area (River Roost?) several times a week playing piano - a very kid friendly show that we'll see a couple times while we are there. He's another reason we are heading back to Port Orleans...

the only place i can think of for a pack and play is in the area of the sinks, as long as it's folded up during the day, you should be okay to maneuver around it during the night. there is an area under where clothing gets hung up. if you put the one end of the pack and play against that wall, you should be fine to use the one sink and get to the bathroom even with it open.

You can fit one of the Disney-supplied ones in the area between the beds and the wall, next to the door. The same place that the trundle bed slides out in the AB rooms.

It is only the lobby that is decorated. near the pool, they play jazz versions of christmas songs to help to get you in the mood. You will also see people who decorated their rooms, maybe lights going around the window. We picked up a door hanging that I taped to the door, along with our tree. With a corner room, you could see the tree and lights from either direction walking towards our room. christmas at disney was the most magical thing I could have done for my family.

Sorry to repeat previous posts, but No3 son keeps asking me about fishing, and I wondered about the poles (catch and release seems favourite for a 'first time' for him)!!

We have never done the fishing but I do seem to remember that it closes early, maybe around 3pm. DS5 wanted to do this one afternoon and it was already closed for the day.
This is also our favorite resort. I had to talk DH into it 4 years ago but this will be our 4th time there and we just love it! Love the "welcome back" from the CM's at check-in!!:goodvibes
Many of you have asked about room views and we have never asked for anything but a standard view and always had an outstanding view. One time we were on the parking lot side but had lots of trees between. I've never felt crowed or that there were too many people about. We also try to avoid times when the food courts are more active. We eat breakfast in the rooms and are out and about by 7am-7:30. We also make sure if we eat dinner that we eat at an off time.
One of the best times we have had was "dinner" at the Roost with Bob. Our kids had a great time singing and dancing. I even got to do the bunny hop with my Tween daughter (and lots of others) and she wasn't crawling under a table:rotfl: We had good finger foods (nachos, wings and such) and adult and child beverages. One of our best evenings. DH has already said that he wants to do this again our first night as we will be checking in midday and don't want to hit a park until the morning.
We will be checking in May 29th and there until June 5th. Anyone else going to be there then? Wouldn't it be fun to have a DIS night at the Roost :thumbsup2 :grouphug:

Mike
Thanks for the help. I am feeling much better. How could I be feeling bad? I am finally going to Disney :yay: !!!!! I hope we have time to go to the lounge too. It is our families first trip and we are planning a lot of park time with rest at the pool in mid day. It sure does sound like fun though. I already talked my husband into adding one extra day. Do you think I could get another??????????

Good morning all :surfweb: .....
Everyone has been so kind sharing info with me, I wanted to give something back.....
I'm headed to POR THURSDAY!!! Is there anything specific you want to know? Is there anything you want a picture of that hasn't been posted yet or want to see a recent photo?
I should have some time one day while our band kids participate in a 2-3 workshop to roam the resort and check things out!!!
Just let me know!
I won't be bringing my laptop as I have too many other things to keep up with on this trip (and it will be my first without my DH to help me carry things!!). So I'll post reviews/pics after we get back next week.

From what I can remember about the fishing area is, it's across the main bridge and to the left heading away from the food court. They have a dock with a railing around it that you can fish from. I've never fished there, but I would guess that the main species of fish you would catch are bluegill and bass.

"Ye Haa" Bob Jackson hosts a very popular piano sing-along comedy show with lots of audience participation each night at about 8.30pm from Wednesday through to Saturday. He's been performing at POR since May 1997, see his website for more info: http://www.yehaabob.com.

Give some of these a try. I can't seem to link them directly here for some reason, otherwise I'd just add them to the thread: http://www.portorleans.org/?gallery
I'll try again to include a picture, but I think the forum software's tag system doesn't like the fact that links from my gallery do not have a normal .jpg extension. Click on it and it will load though.

Any idea where we're likely to be housed? Aligator Bayou or Magnolia? Family of two adults and one teenager. Most of the info seems to say they keep Aligator for larger families, but our booking say two double and a trundle bed.
Anyone know where we are likely to be?

With a party of three you could easily be in either section, but if you've specially requested a trundle bed (and if you get your request met, of course) then those are only found to be in the Alligator Bayou section.

Thanks. There are actually just the four of us; two adults and the kids. I was just thinking, if there's a trundle in the room, that would be really good for them to sleep one in the bed and one in the trundle.

The $15 charge is for additional adults after the first two (which always annoys me - what the heck incremental cost is there to Disney of having three adults, rather than two adults and two/three kids, in your hired room?!?!)
Trundle beds are normally provided in ALL Alligator Bayou rooms (has anyone ever NOT had one?) but do remember that you are not guaranteed to get a room in the AB section of the resort.

If you have 5 people listed on your reservation you a pretty much guaranteed a room in the Alligator Bayou section. If by chance the resort is booked to capacity and you are placed in the Mansions, they will provide you with a roll-away. But that rarely happens.

The trundle beds are (IMHO) better than the wheeled fold up variety as they take up less space during the day. A trundle simply slides away (all made up) under one of the double beds, whereas even folded up the rollaway beds do take up a fair bit of floor space in an already crowded room.

Here at home we have a trundle bed under a twin bed. It's so nice eto have an extra bed that doesn't take up extra floor space when not in use.

But remember, the trundles are very short and really only comfortable for a small woman (me) who can't sleep next to him (DH), when he snores.
So she seeks refuge on the trundle bed.
In the morning no one can find her because she is down there so low to the ground. Much like camping ;)

I'm not sure what your concern is, but if it helps . . .
I have stayed at both and enjoyed both. The bus service is better at CSR, but I think that POR is a more beautiful resort, and I loved having the boat to DTD. The grounds were gorgeous! I also prefer the room decor. The pools were really great at both CSR and POR.

I just got home last night. It was our 1st time there and I loved it. we were in building 95 and the walk was very short to the main pool and the food court. and not too far from POFQ. After every thing I heard about the buses I was nervous but it was never bad. We went to the MK a few times and each time the bus picked us up and took us right to the MK. we never stopped at any hotels or even any other stops at the resort. I will post pics a little later.

During Free Dining periods you virtually need to make an ADR for the popcorn carts, so yes I'd book in advance if you can. It's annoying I know, but if you want to eat where you want and when you want (including Boatwright's) then you'll need to make some ADRs.

I've stayed at POR 3xs (AB) and it is a beautiful resort. We've been in buildings 14 and 18... Both were great. Building 18 was handy because it is a short walk thru the parking lot to the main bus stop and 14 is right next to the main building with food. Anyone staying here should not worry. Really!
The last two trips we didn't eat at Boatrights... we enjoyed taking the boat to DTD or saving our sit down dinners at other places. We have taken the carriage ride, which was very nice but we didn’t do it until our 2nd trip. This trip (our 5th), we are staying at POFQ since I've always have wanted to stay there too and we will be traveling light with only 2 kids this trip.
Some things I have learned...
1) Laundry is by the quiet pools (we were there 9 nights last trip) – I brought my own detergent (get little boxes at laundry mat) and quarters.
2) Have your purchases delivered to resort (Store) it is a breeze to pick them up, you basically walk thru the store anyway when you get off at the main bus stop
3) The boat trip to DTD is delightful and the kids love it and IMHO it tips the scales for staying at PO either R or FQ. The ride and the access can’t be beat.
4) Buy the refillable mugs.
5) Take at least one day of your trip to enjoy the resort. We usually take a day to hang out, do DTD and Disney Quest etc. at night.
6) And lastly, you will never ever ever will be able to do it all in one trip. This is our 5th trip and we still have things on our list that we haven’t done yet. You just need to plan more trips.
My husband has done Dive Quest (very cool) and I’m hoping to do the behind the seeds tour this trip. Any thing else I can help with, please ask and I’ll do my best to help.
We love POR.

I spent last weekend at POR in Acadia House, room 8013. I am a bit superstitious, so getting a room with 13 in it....kind of creepy. :scared1: I arrived after midnight Friday night. There is a CM named Calvin that was just wonderful to deal with. He went above and beyond. All of the CM's were pleasant and seemed to be old school CM's with the best interests of the guests at heart.
The Mousekeepers did a fine job with the basic cleaning of the room, but I would have liked to have seen the baseboard tiles cleaned because they were dark brown and fuzzy with dirt and hair. There was also an annoying banging noise made by the bathroom fan that never completely stopped unless the fan was on. Even with the door closed, you could hear the fan. :rolleyes1 One of the window blinds did not open. The air conditioning and ceiling fan worked really well! :thumbsup2 Overall, the rest of the room was in great shape. The resort was big, but it didn't feel as HUGE as CSR or CBR. The bus service was very good. I had no problems and I was using an ECV. The resort theming was really great. I loved the look of the place, the plaques explaining the origins of the HUGE trees and Ol' Man Island were great. I loved that I saw rabbits and squirrels everywhere. It was very relaxing and I really enjoyed it's simple beauty.
I loved Boatright's for breakfast. I had a wonderful server who was my second favorite server at WDW, ever, which says a lot. Her name was Jennifer C and she was just a gem. The sweet potato pancakes were to die for. I brought home a print out of the recipe. The sausage was the same as what they serve at Kona Cafe. The ground coffee was even pretty good, a bit strong, but pretty darn good, especially from Disney!
Overall, I would stay at POR again in a heartbeat. I really liked it. I rate it as good as CSR when comparing moderates. I know that CSR has amenities that POR doesn't offer, but the "feel" of the place was just as special, if not just a bit more so.

While we're on aerial views, I like the Windows "Virtual Earth" 3D views:

Incidentally, I went to their site a few days ago and found a terrible version with animated advert banners at both the top and right of the screen, but they seem to have gone away now. They were really distracting and made the maps much harder to use, so hopefully they won't be coming back!

and on this one I had to "yell" at DH because he doesn't get it that there's a difference between DL and WDW. He calls anything Disney Disneyland :sad2:

We'll be staying in AB with a Trundle (5 in the room) in September, and I would LOVE to see some pictures of the interior with the trundle in use :) Maybe not IN USE, but open, kwim? :thumbsup2
Also I'm very much looking forward to having a hot-tub soak post touring, so if anyone has pictures of the hot-tub(s). that would be SO GREAT! Are there more than 1 hot tub, if so are they only on Old Man Island?
THANKS!

Thanks! Magnolia Terrace is my first choice request - with Acadian House 2nd. I know it's just a request, but we're keeping our fingers crossed.

My nephew who is almost 16 and about 5"7' slept on the trundle this past trip and said he was fine. I think after a long day at the parks just about anyone could sleep on it if you are dead tired!!:rotfl:

We just found out that we need a new roof so we are trying to cut back on certain parts of our trip! So, we might not be staying at POR anymore. I am SOOO bummed out about it, but what can you do? We'd be saving $700 by downgrading. I'm sure one of the values would be fine and the kids honestly won't know the difference but I had really been looking forward to staying here! :sad1:

Please let me be the first to say that YOU will not even know the difference. ;) LOL I know you've had your heart set on being in POR, but if you book for the POP, you will have the best time and you will be happy that you didn't spend that extra 700 on a Mod. Yes POR is beautiful! But Pop is so much fun, it's lively and it's probably the best place to be on your first trip! When I've slobbered over POR, I realize that as long as my kids are kids and as long as WDW is fairly new to us, and as long as we will be doing the parks more than anything else, staying at POR is not a smart idea cost wise. It's a great idea if you want to spend some time with your honey one on one and no kiddos, or once you've started going so often that hanging at your hotel is just as much apart of your vacation as going to the parks then staying at POR is a much better idea and not such a exspense that doesn't really make sense. POR will always be there, and getting to go to WDW will be just as amazing with out POR, trust me on POP, you won't regret it and your kids, you and hubby will have a blast

That's too bad!!! I know exactly how you feel. :sad2: The same thing happened to me last trip...we were booked at POR and had to downgrade for financial reasons. We chose ASMU which was a HUGE mistake! We thought we'd enjoy it because my son is a musician, but it was the worst hotel experience I've ever had. :scared1: Our entire building was without water for the first day - not an emergency - scheduled work! That was just the beginning, it went downhill from there - I won't tie up the thread with the details. I'm not trying to be negative, but I try to warn everyone I can about that hotel - it was that bad. You could always try POP - I have friends who swear by POP - they love it. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful trip! Lots of pixie dust coming your way for the perfect vacation!!!!pixiedust:
