I stayed there last month and loved the Southern theme. I thought the food court had a nice selection and plenty of seating and no huge heads starring at you like in POFQ!
I did not like the L-O-N-G walk from my car to my room and my bed was so slanted, I felt like I was hanging and afraid of rolling off all night! :rotfl2: So, I moved to the other bed in the room but I had the room to myself.

so is that that the "trundle"?? just a mattress on the floor?
Can a teenager fit on the trundle? My daughter is 15. She is 4'11. I can't tell from the picture.

My husband (6' tall) fit...kinda. At least that is where he slept when dd wouldn't have any more "sleeping on the floor with the bugs". However, aren't they doing away with the trundle...it is now a murphy bed sort of thing below the TV? At least in the refurbished rooms?

I think "kinda" is the operating word here. I am 5'2 and it was uncomfortable for me. Your husband is a kind man to say that he could sleep on there. I bet he absolutely hated it. I hated smelling the floor...

I love him...but honestly he is not the most "you first" sort of guys. Believe me, if he was not comfortable there he would not have slept there. :rotfl: He is thin though... and I think that made it a bit easier to fit onto the narrow mattress. I am with you though... YUK on smelling the floor. :goodvibes

And there's also the factor that after a day walking around WDW, most people could probably sleep on a bed of rocks!

We always stayed out DVC resorts with our points for the most part but one thanksgiving our "home" resort was booked so we picked POR. To this day it sticks out in my mind as my favorite resort. The scenic river running through the resort, the beautiful moss covered trees and old plantation style hotel complexes. This is a beautiful resort. I hope to visit to take a few photos with my new camera next week when I visit :cutie:

Just installed the speedtest app on my iphone and here are the results:
Thanks, not too shabby for free public wi-fi I guess, but not too speedy either (especially upstream).
My home results, using the equivalent Android speedtest.net app and my home broadband wi-fi for comparison, are: 44ms ping, 18.342 Mb/s upload, 2.024 Mb/s upload.
So there's still a bit of room for improvement...

Do the AB rooms have queen or full size beds?
Yes they do.
:)
OK, to clarify that: after the current refurbishment program is complete, all of the older double beds will have been replaced with queens. At present, 4 out of the 16 Alligator Bayou buildings are done, with the rest due to be completed between April and August.
By the way, this is a photo thread, the main FAQ thread which will give you lots more info is at: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2851271.

Here are some photos of our first trip to WDW in March 2006. We haven't been back to POR since then but I am hoping to go back for my surprise trip for the kids in December. Some of these I posted on the FAQ page, but a couple are new. The last one is of my family (as they looked in 2006)...notice the happy faces (still smiling after 11 days...Disney Magic!!).

Was wondering if it would be "allowed" for my husband and I to take some pictures in our wedding dress/suit on the grounds at the hotel? Was thinking about the gazebo in the pictures here. :-) We are renewing our vows while we are on vacation in Florida, but not at Disney world. I just think it would make for a few nice pictures to have. :-)

I think it'd be better to get someone to take them for you, kinda misses the point if you take it in turns to hold the camera. :)
But yes, you'll be fine, and it's a great location for such photos.

I was thinking as I read this it might be worth talking to the photo pass folks to see if they would be able to offer some assistance with this - however I don't know if they take photos at the resort but if they did.....

Nice shot KCmike--do you happen to remember which quiet pool this is? Also, do have pics of all the quiet pools here? Thanks.:goodvibes:goodvibes
This quiet pool is in the Alligator Bayou section near building 34. I do have other shots and will have to find them. Thanks for the nice comments!

My other quiet pool pics are on the other computer but I still owe you those shots. Here are a few more. I hope I haven't already shared these on this thread. I know I did on the other Riverside thread for planning. Anyways...

Any new pictures of the Royal Rooms? I'm staying there in June and would love to see some more pictures and hear the opinions of people who have stayed there.

the t is for tiana and part of the letter shown above but i had to take a pic to tease my granddaughter (who calls me T). i told her it was proof i'm a real princess and they were obviously expecting me :thumbsup2

the pics on the wall in background are of various disney princesses and are done so they look like they've been taken at various points around the resort...like all of us do lol. example one of them on front steps of one of the mansions, a pick at the old man island pool area etc... it incorporated the resort in a really cute way. the bedspread has crowns on it each depicting the different princesses

Thanks for the pics EvilQueenT. Your granddaughter is so cute and looks like she is having so much fun.
I'll be staying in the RGR in Dec. and the pics of your granddaughter gives the room a sense of proportion. I'm a little on the bigger side and had worried about the room. But these pics have allayed those concerns. Thank you for sharing.

BDL if you've stayed at any of the moderate resorts (cbr, pofq, por, csr) you'll find the rooms are pretty much the same in size. the beds are a queen. for scale if it helps, my granddaughter is 8 y/o, 60lbs, and about 50 inches tall give or take (just tall enough to ride everything at disney ...finally lol but still gets stopped for a height double check once in a while for some of them). and if it helps my husband is 6 foot 4 and about 230 lbs and did fine when we stayed at pofq...but i'll admit i snuck over to the other bed so i could stretch out a bit more since we're use to a king bed at home.
sorry to all that some of the pics were a little fuzzy, it was my cell phone and even with a better camera i'm not good at taking pics.

We got a lot of our wedding photos taken at POR. It's a beautiful spot for them. We did have a Disney wedding, but there aren't any restrictions on having outside photographers take photos at the resorts. :thumbsup2
