Does anybody have any new pics? :confused3 I just booked with the 40% code and I am so excited!! :yay:

It seems like CBR and CSR are the " Hot Resorts" right now. I guess because of their refurbs....But there has to be some POR lovers out there somewhere......

We loved POR! I would definitely recommend this resort. I am still working on getting my pictures organized...
The "make your own pasta" was great! Pool was fun, surrey bikes were...
interesting with a 9,6,4yo!:scared1: Though, we laughed the whole time! The kiddos enjoyed the pirate cruise. For our ten night trip, the buses were awesome except one 11 am "ish'' trip to EpCot. Mousekeeping was efficient, kids loved the towel animals:yay:
Now to work on the photos...

We have stayed at CSR twice and will never return to CSR. Our last trip was 14 nights at POR and it is now our favorite resort. We prefer it to the POLY.
We have booked it for next year Sept 19- Oct 3, 2009. We will be staying the first 2 nights at the GF and then transferring to POR.

I was there last week--great place! We were actually accidentally booked here (had intended to book FQ), but I was very happy with the "mistake"!

Main building with the lobby and all restaurants:

http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll24/lz1982/Riverside.jpg

Our building, Acadian House in the Magnolia Bend section:

http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll24/lz1982/AcadianHouse.jpg

Room interior. Only complaint, pillows are very soft/squishy, so if you like firm pillows, you may want to bring your own.

Have fun!:goodvibes

Ahh, these beautiful Magnolia Bend rooms are more my style; I'm not a big fan of the Alligator Bayou quilts! :upsidedow But that is where we will be since we need the trundle bed for our 3rd child. It's doable!

When we heard the pool was going to be closed, we considered re-locating with added expense... but as I look at the pictures of this campus, I can't get over all this natural beauty! It's amazing!!

This thread has helped me get even more excited for our trip, thanks for the pics! I'm really looking forward to being at POR!

See you there!! ;)

Luckily there are five other pools, plus the big one at FQ. And the quiet pools are not super-quiet--there were certainly kids splashing and playing in them while I was there.

Could I ask if the folks who are going to POR imminently [not jealous, honest...] could maybe pop back here when they return to update us? Or the main POR FAQ Thread (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1920531). Things like info on the main pool and/or possible Alligator Bayou pool closures, the Boatwright's breakfast situation, and especially whether Disney have temporarily closed some of the accommodation buildings during this quiet period (and which ones).

Many thanks, and have a great time!

This is a great thread! I have just sit and read the whole thing! We are going to Riverside for the first time in May abd this has got me so excited!

Thanks!:thumbsup2

I think it's Magnolia Terrace and Oak Manor, but the difference would only be a couple minutes. Also, within those buildings, certain rooms would be much closer than others, so I'm not sure of the best room #s. The Unofficial Guide has listings of the most convenient rooms.

I see your going to the World in Nov. Just a suggestion, but you should definitely do Mickeys Christmas Party and do NOT miss the Christmas Castle lights!!

What is HDR'ing pictures???????????

What is HDR'ing pictures???????????

HDR is High Dynamic Range photography. You take multiple exposures of the same image, some overexposed, some underexposed and some properly exposed. You then combine the images with software like Photomatix or DynamicPhotoHDR.

What happens is that it picks up the highlights from the underexposed images and the shadow details from the overexposed images.

BTW a tripod is almost a requirement for HDR.

There is also pseudo HDR which is from a single image. It is also best to shoot in RAW mode as this has much more data captured then what a Jpeg does.

Probably the very end water-view rooms in Oak Manor or Parterre Place, just cross over the bridge and turn right and you're at the food court area. Or the other end of Magnolia Terrace and across two bridges via Ol' Man Island. There's not a lot in it to be honest, but all of the mansion buildings are quite large and the furthest rooms can be quite a trek back.

There's a room-by-room layout plan of all the Mansion Buildings at www.portorleans.org/magnolia-bend.htm (http://www.portorleans.org/magnolia-bend.htm) if that helps.

I'm so very sorry on my tardy return to the thread...I found you after looking for a bit. Ok...'Ol Man Island was closed when we arrived on 2/11...and would stay closed throughout most of March (did not get an exact date). None of the buildings were closed that I could see...seemed quite busy actually. Boatwright's WILL NO LONGER serve breakfast as of 2/21...however, I was assured that the sweet potato cakes will find their way to another restaurant SOME WHERE on property, but our server did not know where. POFQ pool was open to use if we so desired a bigger pool, however, our room was within shouting distance of the quiet pool:
http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z159/pixiedust814_2007/032_32.jpg
Which was, very quiet indeed. I only wish I'd gotten to actually USE it. But it was a great view. :) The service was second to none...all the CMs were fabulous and there was no change in the way the CMs did their jobs. Check in was absolutely packed the Wednesday we arrived...one of the longest lines we stayed in all week. Probably took us a half hour or more to get to the front. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this resort! And now...on to the pictures!

'Ol Man Island is the only one with a slide...the other five pools are unthemed quiet pools. I believe that the pool is heated, although I cannot find any direct info. Most of the pools are, though. There is also a hot tub on 'Ol Man Island...which i didn't know...since I couldn't see in..lol.

Have fun..take lots of pictures and I'm totally jealous!

Last year when planning our trip, you originally had ressies for a TH in WH. Then the FD offer came out so we cancelled our ressie and stayed at POR with FD. So glad we did. :thumbsup2 Staying onsite is so nice and FD is awesome.

We stayed onsite with the dining plan (not free) out last trip and had a great time. There are 9 of us going this time (3 kids, 6 adults) and we initially thought staying at a vacation home would save us money. Now with the option of free dining, I have figured out we will only have to spend $100 more to stay onsite, and to me that is worth it. Hopefully the others will be easy to convince. Wish me luck!!!:wizard:

I love this sight and am so excited about staying here. I am just mad I booked last August and reserved a waterview not realizing it wasn't a view of the river and forgetting we didn't have a balcony since we booked it in our room at the AKL last year. I didn't put one and one together. Now there are no non-waterview rooms. I wasted $260. after having to add my daughter which they forgot to put on last years reservation when she turned 3. I am so dumb.:headache:

Put in a request for a RIVER view rather than just a water view. It's not guaranteed, but if you do get a room overlooking the river the locations are great as they are generally much closer to the main building. Think of it as a semi-preferred location. :)

And even if you don't get a private balcony, the views are still very nice and because of the overall size of the resort the individual walkways are generally pretty quiet anyway, so people quite often sit outside their rooms to enjoy the view.

We are going in 2010 staying at POR for the first time!! I am so excited~ We went last year and had 2 rooms at Music. POR looks so beautiful in all the pictures. Thank you guys so much for sharing!!

I am thinking about the catch and release fishing for my dd's to do with DH for father's day. I booked the Wishes Cruise last year and we loved it, but I am trying to be a little more budget friendly this time around. Does anyone have any experience with the fishing? or pictures of the one they had to release?

Subbing.. We are staying POR in March 2010, in the AB area.. My sis is getting married in WDW and she and her fiance will be staying at POR in the Mansion (at least that is what she requested), with king size bed.

Does anyone have pics of the Mansion king size bed rooms?? I am a lil' nervous -- as seeing the pics i have so far, the room decor is not my style, but being that we have 5 in our room - it is the only mod that sleeps 5. The Mansion rooms seem, outdated... kinda boring. Not what i really was expecting, and hoping my sis isn't disappointed..
When was the last time POR had a refurb?

Hoping this thread will get my excited and looking forward to it!! Keep the pics coming.. Those HDR pics are beautiful!!!

The Mansion Building room interiors are meant to reflect the antebellum South - what did you expect them to look like, a New York apartment? It's rather like saying that Main Street USA looks just like it hasn't been updated since the 1900s... ;)

Seriously though, the rooms are lovely and very comfortable for a moderate, very romantic for honeymooners and much along the lines of the rooms in French Quarter. The last major resort-wide refit was about five years ago, but minor work was done a year or two ago when the aircon units were replaced and changes made to the lighting and a few other things.

At first when I began my planning (for 2010 trip) I was unsure what resort I wanted my DBF and I to stay at. I was getting a little overwhelmed. But this thread as well as your web site, Andre, has convinced me that POR is it! I stayed here when it was Dixie Landings and I loved it! So I figure why try to change something if it's not broken.:) Of course, I'm still in my early stages of planning so I'm 95% sure that's it's POR but I'm still going to leave myself 5% wiggle room incase we win the lottery and then WL it is!:rotfl:

Keep the beautiful pics coming!

i understand what you are saying -- i just meant that they seem a little worn i guess.. like they could use a freshen up.. that's all. :) Again, i am in AB section, so i don't care.. and those rooms aren't my fav either -- but i do agree that the grounds of the resort are pretty.. and there is lots to offer there.. i just don't care for the room decor. I am more of a tropical vacation girl (see my siggy??) ;)

Just come across this thread as I'm trying to plan a trip to WDW in Nov 2010 and POR is on our shortlist but wondered if anyone could answer a couple of questions.

We're in the UK, when I go to the WDW site to get prices, our party is too large and the only room it can give us at a WDW resort is a suite at All Star Music, however when I look in the travel brochures and websites for companies like Virgin, they can accomodate us in a POR room with a trundle bed, can anyone confirm? I have seen people say they've had the trundle, perhaps they've stopped doing them?

If we can't be accomodated in POR then we will have to stay in the family suite but then we lose out on the free dining. Our party is 2 adults, 3 children aged 16, 15, 4 & the dining plan seems a good money saving

dogodisney
08-11-2009, 08:19 AM
For some odd reason, many people from the UK have said the same thing about the trundle bed. :confused3

We are a family of 5, our kid's ages are almost the same as yours (16,15,6) and we stayed at POR this past Sept.and we will be staying there again for our Dec. trip. So yes there are still trundle beds. :thumbsup2

Yes, you can indeed be accommodated at POR with that party size, this is a known problem with the UK Disney booking office. They seem to operate more like a high-street travel agent rather than a UK arm of WDW, and as such can only book whatever packages and options they have on their system. And POR for 5 people is not something they have on their system. :(

The problem you are going to face is that if you book with Disney US, they will be able to book the five of you into POR with the Dining Plan, but probably with US 'Magic Your Way' ticket types rather than the more useful (and much cheaper!) 14-day or 21-day Ultimate tickets which are reserved for UK guests. Because the dining plan requires you to have some sort of ticket media included in the booking (even if only for one day each) Disney USA probably won't be able to remove them completely so you can just buy 14- or 21-day tickets back in the UK.

It might be an idea to talk with an independent travel consultant if you still want to book a seperate package, or find a UK travel agent that allows 5 per room at POR with 14-day tickets and the dining plan.

Thank you very much for all that information, I think I'll have a look around the UK travel companies when they produce their brochures, at the minute there's only really Virgin who are selling Winter 2010 packages after looking at your website and also this thread, I definately want to stay at the POR it looks really lovely

So can we talk Boatwrights? Has anyone been and enjoyed it? We want to try it on the day we arrive so we have time to checkout the resort and not have to worry about getting to a restaurant. The menu looks good...so what entrees and desserts do you guys recommend?

DH & I ate there on our honeymoon in 2003. We loved it. (Mainly cause it was free. We had a problem changing resorts after deciding AS Sports wasn't romantic enough. LOL After telling our story to the CM checking us IN at POR, he gave us vouchers for a free dinner at Boatwrights. How nice was THAT??) We did have a delicious meal and had planned to go back...but....

They've changed the menu since then...not too sure about it now.

In November it is POR for us, unless we win the lottery then we would stay in one of the Epcot resorts :worship:

Grin, I'm typing this from POR (Magnolia Terrace river view, you can see the view live on my website) and we move to the Beach Club tomorrow, so I guess same sort of ideas!

Went a few days ago for dinner. Hadn't been for a good few years and we really enjoyed it; nice food, good service and a fun location. We all said we actually preferred it to our meal at Narcoosee's the following night.

We're heading to POR 1 week from today. We have a waterview room reservation and at the time of booking I requested a Magnolia Bend room. Should I call ahead and make sure we got this or will waiting till we get there be ok? Anyone else had experience requesting one side of the resort over another?

I'm so excited, I don't know how they expect me to work this week!

We were newbies to POR many years ago, didn't even request a specific room, BUT, we did land up not far from the main hub (restaurants, pool, bus stop, etc.). Water view at that resort really wouldn't bother me, I rather be closed to all. I would request top floor, always better to not have anyone above you (noise).

As far as contacting the resort in advance, first put your requests in your original reservation, and then maybe fax or call the day before you arrive to ask again (or a few days before if you have multiple rooms).

Room location requests can be a little bit hit-or-miss at POR lately - but then it's a very large resort with quite a high occupancy rate. You tend to either get what you asked for, or something completely opposite! (Last month, for example, we asked for Alligator Bayou 14, or Parterre or Oak mansions near to the bridge... and we were offered all the way over in Acadian House, nowhere near a bridge)

However, if you're not happy with what you've been allocated when you get to checkin, ask if they can change you (which may need a supervisor to check for any other rooms which may become available later in the day). I'd suggest a location on the river side of the mansion buildings or close to the main building in Alligator Bayou would be best. See the maps on my website for an idea of the layout.

See you there! :cool1: We're arriving the 28th! We've stayed at POR many times, and have only ever had our room requests in our reservation & have always gotten what we've asked for. There are no guarantees, of course, but they will accommodate you if they can. Like PP said, if they don't have you in a room you like, ask to move. If they can, they will.

I know the resort is pretty full next week, but I'm hoping to be where I ask (in Oak Manor...I'll be pretty miserable carrying my kids & all their stuff up the stairs in AB at the end of the day if they put me over there. :sad2: But a room at the far side of the resort is still MUCH MUCH closer to where I want to be than here at home!!:rotfl2:)

All AB rooms have the Blue/Red bedspreads since the last refurb, the photo above is very out of date. Mind you, that didn't stop Disney using it on their brand new WDW website earlier in the year though. :)

I have only stayed at POR once with a friend and it was only one night and we were at the resort for a total of about 10 hours so this is like my first stay there and it will be my family's first stay there.

I want a room in Alligator Bayou - what building should we request? We will be driving so location of the bus stops is not important and we will be eating at the Food Court a lot. Thanks in advance!!! :goodvibes

Man..i think the above rooms look better than the "redone" current rooms.. :(

I keep trying to get excited about this trip in March - staying at AB POR - but, it's really not my style (decor wise)and i need to really find something to change my way of thinking.. We are there for 10 days, and have a discount due to the 1/2 marathon, so i have to stay at this resort.. but i really really need to peek my excitment here.. Please, can someone post more room pics of AB?

ETA: don't get me wrong, i think the resort grounds are very pretty, and the main buildings are very nice...and i am SURE we will have a great time reguardless.. it's just not my decor style (i am more of a CBR / poly kinda girl.. ;) )

I like the looks of the old room too. That palm tree does not go with that decor though. :rotfl:
I too like the decor of CBR but ya know POR AB really isn't bad. I thought I wouldn't like it but it looks a lot better in person and the room is really kinda cheery. We really spend so little time in the room that it's not that big of a deal. The grounds are really nice. We are actually staying here again in Dec.
At one point we talked about staying at one of the values and my DD(16) asked if we could stay at POR because she wants to go see Yehaa Bob. If you've never seen him, you really should see one of his shows. He's a lot of fun. Keep an open mind and I bet you'll like it or at least find thiongs about it that you like. ;) Have a great trip. :goodvibes

I haven't read all your posts, but why are you not staying where you want to stay?
You may change your mind about staying in the Bayou section when you have a second floor room your see trees and greenery all around you. For me it is a secluded, treehouse kind of a feeling.
I so missed that in January when we tried out POFQ. I would never stay there again unless I had to.

We have to stay there b/c that is the mod. hotel for the Princess 1/2 Marathon , we get a discount.. and it's enough to warrent staying there.. They are honoring the race discount for the full 9 nights we are staying!

Anyone staying at Riverside I give you a tip: Try to get up early on one of your days (I know its hard). Get up around 5:30-6:00. It is soooo wonderfull. No one is up yet. It seems like you have the whole resort to yourself.

Very true. I can't help but get up early at Disney. I am outside every morning watching the fog, the bunnies and squirrels and not a sound other than the birds all around.
I can't wait. I have 42 or so days to go :woohoo:

It's a beautiful resort 24/7, but particularly so at the break of dawn. It's enchantingly quiet, and it's like being in your own Disney movie watching all the animals scurry around on a brisk autumn or winter morning. Vacation is so close I can taste it!

My husband did not want to go to Disney until he figured out that I plan an exceptional trip with the best food at the signature restaurants and he loves POR! It's definitely a more rugged resort, talking about the AB section, that it appeals to men more then some other resorts

Unless you need the trundle you can always stay at one of the "plantation" hotels. I am going to be at POR from the 5th to the 11th for the princess half too!

I am so glad I found this thread. It has made me feel at peace with my resort choice. I was in danger of careening down the resort switching path until I saw these pictures. I would be happy anywhere in WDW. Just wanted for my DH to have a bit more of a relaxed vacation vibe. This place definitely has that:thumbsup2
Thank all of you for sharing!:thanks:

Our 1st trip to WDW was last January at POR. We could not have been happier. I'll try to figure out how to post some pics.

I had wanted to be in AB but we ended up in the very back, far corner of Parterre Place. I was hesitant at first when I saw it on the map. But we ended up loving it! PP was very quiet, and really not a long walk to the main bldgs or even FQ. Atleast it didn't seem like a long walk because its just so beautiful, we had pink azaleas all around our building and saw lots of wildlife. We even walked to the main bus stop each day, rather than the closer one, so we could cross the bridge and check out the river traffic. It really felt like the old South, loved the architecture, gardens etc.

The boat ride to DD was awesome, especially at night with the lights on the water. We had towel animals each day and our mousekeeper was great. We all thought the food court was just fine, enough selection for everyone and always found a table. Sadly we never made it the main pool but used the quiet pool one night (while doing laundry) with just one other family in it. All the staff was nice, the store had some good stuff and we did use our arcade card which was fun, DD10 gave the arcade 2 thumbs up.

We were VERY sad the morning we left. We got a golf cart ride (5am) for our DME pick up. It was dark, the fog hovered over the river and clouded the path lights. Just magical and I will never forget it. :wizard:

What are they doing at a moderate - don't they usually stay at the values?
You'll be fine, the walls are not as thin at POR. even when the resort was full one year, we never even heard a toilet being flushed. It's all good, it's Disney:banana:

Maybe try for an upper floor though, you may not get too much noise from the next-door rooms, but if someone is heavy-footed above you then you'll hear them.

Pop Warner kids always stay at 2 of the All Stars and 1 moderate. This year it is Riverside. I'm worried about the food court, bus stops and problems iwth kids in the common areas. Cheerleaders practicting cheers very early in the mornings at the resort and even on buses - buses have had to pull over to make them behave. Fights have broken out at the resorts between teams. There have been major problems with them in the past. Hadn't thought about hearing them thru the walls but that is another concern. I do know they have caused damage to their rooms in the past, too. There are a couple of threads on the resort boards about the problems they have caused people in the past.

We had reserved POR last August but got bumped to the YC because it was overbooked. Not that I'm complaining ;) But we have booked a 2 night stay for next week at POR before we move over to AKV for the rest of our trip.

I am so thrilled to be going to POR next Thurs....I have heard wonderful things about this resort and the pictures that have been posted on here are absolutely gorgeous!!! The only request I made was to be close to the main bldg and pool b/c we are traveling with DS2. Hope it is everything people say it is :)

We go to the River Roost every day after getting off the bus - coming home from the parks. One shot for the left foot, one shot for the right foot, to get feeling back in our legs, heehee. Not that we need a reason to have a drink.
It's always more fun, of course, when Bob is there. I think he entertains Wednesdays through Saturday.

We'll be there also then Dec 12-16 a short trip for my B-day! Just booked and can't wait. But, i think maybe that palm tree and lighter/brighter colors in the first pic was why i liked it better.. LOL Reminded me more of a "rustic" beach club.. LMAO

Yeah I totally agree, the first pic looked so nice and that blue and red bedspread, uggggh. But that's ok, I'm still psyched! The grounds are gorgeous there, incredible. Does anyone know if any of the rooms in AB don't have those blue/red bedspreads, are all the rooms the same color? Thanks all!

thanks to this thread we have decided to not spend the excess money at a deluxe and stay here at the POR - we are hoping to get a room in AB so we will place the request - we wanted to stay at the CR in a tower room but none were available so we were going to go with GF with a park view but decided we are not going to be spending much time at MK so it seemed stupid to spend the extra money - my DD is 16 so even if the wait for the bus is long its not like she is a small child i think we will be just fine - now just to wait for September to get here - not that i am wishing time away - this will also be my DD's first time staying on property, her 6th trip to the world but never had the opportunity to stay on site - i cant wait

I really do not care if it is AB or MB. I just want to be close to the bus stop, food court and main pool. This is the first time I will be going with my 7 yr old with our a stroller. He is just to big now. Granted he is only 50lbs but he is tall. I would certainly get some funny looks! He is 56 inches tall and I am 62 inches tall. We are leaving on Tuesday the 15th. I requested an AB room (not sure it that is what they are called. The buildings to the left of the food court) but since there is only the two of us I am concerned I may not get that area. It is DS7 and myself traveling since we are alone and I am small (can't carry him!) I want to be close to the food court, pool and bus. Suggestions on another building to stay in? I think the mansions are also close. Suggestion please on what building to ask for please! Thanks!

Have a look at the map in the FAQ thread here (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1920531). I'd suggest Alligator Bayou lodge 14 is the closest, followed by the nearby ones 16,17,18 and 27. If you're much further out than that, a river-view room in one of the mansions might be worth trying too.

Have a chat with the front-desk cast members when you check in and they'll try to help you. Don't be afraid to ask them to check for other rooms which might become free later in the day (rather than just ones that are ready while you are standing at the desk) if you don't mind waiting a bit for the room while you go head off to the parks or swim, get something to eat, etc.

We got room 2709 (obviously in building 27) At check-in I tried to change that, thinking that the location was not good. Come to find out, it is just a few steps from building 15. We could not have been happier with the location actually because the smoking spot (dh still smokes) was right outside our building, right by the Sassagoula. Wonderful. Although, the room was in dire need of cleaning and refurbishing. That was the only disappointing thing this time around.

Thank you for directing to the map so it looks like AB 14, 18 or Oak Manor are close to the main building with accesible walking paths etc. At the end of the day when my son is tired he just shuts down and at 7 he is getting to big for me to carry. It look hilarious when I even try! He is 56 inches tall and I am 62 inches tall. He weights 55lbs and I weigh 110. I am hoping soon he will be able to carry me at the end of the day!

We are back from our trip. I have to stay I like the themeing of the resort ... very pretty but the lack of organization and lack of customer service here was really bad. I posted in 2 thread while there about my horrible experience at this resort.

EDITED (LINKS DELETED) - I originally posted links to other threads in which I discuss this but apparently I am not allowed to. You will have to search my post to find out what happened.

In all truth, it is really a shame because this could be an awesome resort if it had better management. But the over all attitude of the staff here is pretty bad. They also have no idea what is happening and when. The campfires for example they told me they were on nights they do not have them. We show up with s'more makings in hand on 2 nights we were told it was happening and it was not. The guest also seemed so angry. I could tell there were many disgruntled guest there by their loud obnoxious comments about things. The food court was always chaotic! and the line really long. Hard to deal with with you have a young child with you. I finally gave my son his own try and let him go get what he wanted. I kept an eye on him for safety issues while I waited in my long line for a salad or whatever food I was eating that day. The salad line took F-O-R-E-V-E-R! is there a reason there is only one person making these? Same goes for the carving station, the pasta station, the omelet station and the ice cream area! But yet there were always 2-3 people on the burger/fish/chicken nugget area and no kids there!

I also did not like the size of this place. It was not easy finding my room at night. I did get an AB room 1862 which was a nice location and a corner room. Surprisingly, I have no complaints about the bus! The buses were fine. But I will be honest I like CSR better.

Thanks for posting all of your fantastic pics! We are a family of 5 plus an infant and will be staying, at this point, at the POR. Which units have the trundle bed? Also, I hope I am not too disappointed, I really enjoy a resort FULL of palm trees (coming from Seattle-the palm trees seem so tropical). The pics do not seem to depict a tropical get-a-way, since it is to represent Mississippi- it shouldn't really be vast with Palms. We are limited as to where we can stay with our family size. The deluxe hotels are basically out of our price range, since we have a fairly substantial amount to pay in airfare. We could stay at CSR but we stayed there last time we visited and we were quite unhappy (we did not like the food court as the foods were too extravagant for small kids, and there was 2 days they did not clean our room). I am trying to get very excited for POR though! HELP!!! :-)

We didn't see any bunnies when we were there last. We did see lots of lizards and frogs. We had a lot of fun with them.

Anyone have any pictures, or can point me in the right direction, of the Christmas decorations at Riverside and FQ? What are these two resorts like at Christmas?

We're staying at the POR as part of a Grand Gathering. Will they put us in rooms in the same area? Also some rooms consist of 4 people and some of 5. I hope they dont split us up into different parts of the resort based on the number of people in the room. Has anyone had any experience with this?:confused3

I'd even pay the extra $15 (or whatever the charge is) a night to have the trundle bed in the room if it would guarantee that we would be close to the rest of the group. It will be so nice to sit and relax with friends/family after the kids go to sleep but if we all spread out we won't be able to do that.

If you all want to stay in the same section then that'd mean Alligator Bayou ideally, have you put that in your room requests? How many rooms have you got booked, and are they linked reservations (apart from your Grand Gathering).

If you want to fax the resort to confirm / reiterate your requests then I'd suggest doing so the number of days ahead that you have rooms booked - i.e. two days before your arrival for two rooms, three days for three rooms, and four days for anything greater. Just ask them for a close area of your choice rather than for adjoining rooms (it's more unlikely that four or five rooms right next door to each other would come up on the same day).

No Christmas decorations here, but still loved seeing this in Dec. as opposed to snow.

Which building do you recommend staying in out of the Alligator Bayou buildings? I'd like something close to one of the first bus pick up stops so we make sure the bus isn't full. Thanks!

See the first posting in the FAQ thread (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1920531) too, but the general consensus is that building 14 is the best located lodge in terms of easy access to the buses, food court and facilities.

Anyone have any pictures, or can point me in the right direction, of the Christmas decorations at Riverside and FQ? What are these two resorts like at Christmas?

At POR, they have a tree just inside the rotunda.

They use white and red poinsettas to line the walkway up to the front of the building around Guest Services.

They hang garland on the front entrance.

The store is full of Christmas stuff!:santa:

I would like photos of the current menu items from the food court and drink fountain as well as the to go food section. It has been a long time since I stayed at POR and with my up coming trip and like to see how things are layout and what is being offered so I can plan ahead. Send me a message if you get to post any of these please. Thanks In Advance.

Yes, snaps of the food court menu boards and prices (for breakfast and dinner if you happen to be there for both) would be great.

Have a GREAT time at my favourite place! And say hi to Bob.

Well being 5 months pregnant and on the QSDP, I'm sure I'll have plenty of opportunity to take a few pics of anything in the food court!! :rolleyes1
I'll snap a few pictures of each of the menus, and try to get them at both breakfast and dinner (and probably endure some funny looks while doing so!)
And I will certainly say hello to Bob!
