Because of the post about the Radisson special fall rate we went ahead and made a reservation at the Radisson the night before we cruise. Yippee - thank you!
How far ahead do you book the Avis rental? We also would need the car from the Orlando airport to Radisson and then from the Radisson back to the airport.

You can book it any time. We booked our Avis about 3 months before going, and I kept checking the website to see if there were any price reductions.

On car rentals, you can rent ahead of time pretty much as far in advance as you'd like. There might occasionally be some extra savings closer in to your needed time (if they suddently find themselves with plenty of cars at a time they expected to be booked up.) But they generally have a pretty good idea of when their peak demand will be and organize their prices and special deals accordingly.
Air fare is a different matter. We booked our flight for our trip in late May in early January. While we got a great deal ($250 total for the two of us roundtrip from Birmingham to Orlando) our flights have also changed NUMEROUS times between now and then. Most of the changes have been minor (flight number changes, 15 minute differences in arrival/departure time), but it still freaks me out every time I get a notice from Expedia. Booking that far in advance with the airline industry still reeling from last year's events can be a headache (even though you can get great deals.)
