We will be driving to Fort Wilderness to eat at Trails End Buffet one night. It is my understanding we have to park somewhere and then take a bus to get to the restaurant, correct?

I will have a rental ECV, my manual wheelchair and my cane. I would prefer not to fuss with the ECV or WC as long as it isn't that far from the car to the bus and then from the bus to the restaurant. I am okay for about 15 minutes on my feet as long as I am on a paved surface. Can anyone give me any idea what the distances are and the walk is like?

If you really are ok for 15min or so you should be fine with just your cane. I would have the driver drop you near the Outpost bus stop, sometime you can't park close. From the Settlement stop, T.E. is less than a 10min walk all on paved "road" so you should be fine.

There's a women that does 'walk reports' at http://www.mousesteps.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=22&Itemid=47

Really excellent site - especially for people who want to check out accessibility.

Walking from the parking lot to Trail's End took her 23 minutes, including stopping for pictures. The walk was flat with nice wide sidewalks, you occasionally have to cross a road. She includes pictures of everything (including the bus stops) so I recommend you check out the link.

Yes the walk from the parking lot to TE would be about 20/30min, but there is a bus between the 2 areas, so the walk from the bus stop to TE is very short.

That walking website is pretty cool. I had not seen it before. I'm going to put a link in the disABILITIES FAQs thread because I think it might be helpful for some people.
