Hi This will be our second. :cool1: Our first cruise was 3 night September into October 2005. :cool2: Despite a rough start due to the port being shut down for hours  :sad2: while they checked out luggage left from cruise that ended that morning- This was the best VACATION of my life. :cool1: We are super excited. DH, DD 9, DS 6, and myself. My daughter turned 7 on the last cruise! :wizard: We are spending a few days at Disney before and after the cruise:rotfl:

Hello gerberdaisy. I am one of the 13 that is going on with the Perez Crew. Actually Martha (perez6plus1) is my mother-in-law. She has 6 kids:

1.Tony Jr. (25)
Wife Amy and 2 kids, Rylan(3) and Alex(now 6 weeks)
2. Robert (22)
Wife Myself and 1 child Marlee (1.5)
3. Miranda (15)
4. Mark (9...will be 10 on vacation)
5. Mackenzie (6)
6. Mason (2)

We will be in the parks from Sept 13-18. Martha and family are staying at the Poly, Tony Jr. & family and my family will be staying at Pop Music. This is the 3rd annual trip...but first DCL!!

Martha and I are the crazy, planning freaks! We're glad to find someone else that will be on the cruise!!

Anyways, we can't wait to go!

Wow that is an awesome annual trip! :cool1: You are going to LOVE the cruise.

We stayed at the Nick Hotel 2 days before and 2 after our 2005 cruise. We loved it but decided we wanted to stay at Disney on our next trip. We are at CBR 3 days before and ASMo 3 days after this time. (with 40% off YEAH!!!!!!!!:worship: I prayed before I called for a cm that could find me the discount and I got one!)

We had taken the Auto train down from the DC area to Florida so we had our Expedition with us and drove to the port. We could not even get into the port when we arrived due to suspicious luggage left from arriving cruise and they shut down the port. :sad2: We spent two hours sitting in a parking lot. Then when they let everyone in, a few more hours checkin process. (However the DCL buses got in first so we are opting for DCL transportation this time) Needless to say our kids (3,6 at time) needed a nap. We missed the send off party and our first night in resturant. BUT it STILL was the BEST!!!!!!!!!!

The child care/play areas are awesome. :dance3: They didn't want to leave.

It was so nice to just enjoy. No planning. Just enjoy. I tell people that I was so relaxed that when I went to workout I walked for 2 hours on the treadmill without even realizing it.

We didn't stress about making all the shows, we just enjoyed every minute. There is so much to do. I think you are going to love it with the range of ages that you have going. There is always something for everyone.:grouphug:

Oh, did I mention they upgraded us last time to a room with a balcony so ofcourse this time we had to have a room with a balcony. Guess it pays for them to upgrade:)

Sorry this is so long. I always get excited when I talk about our trip.:lmao:
If you have any questions feel free to ask. I am not an expert since this is only my second cruise but I am happy to share my experience. :goodvibes

That is impressive! I can not keep quiet! My logical 9 year old DD can not understand why I am so excited and planning every day for a trip so far away. :confused3 :surfweb: However, am impulsive 5 year old DS is right there with me!  Should I be concerned that I am more like my 5 year old than my 9?!? I am always amazed when people are able to surprise their children.

Hello all - this will be my very first Disney cruise and my boyfriend's first cruise!

We learned an interesting tip from Disboards - book a night at Comfort Suites and you get up to 4 Atlantis Resort day passes.

The Day Passes to Atlantis Resort includes admission to the water park, aquariums and beaches. It cost $185 for the room - we will only be using 2 out of the 4 passes.

If anyone is interested in sharing the cost for the other 2 passes, please feel free to PM me!

I've been lurking on the board for months and after spending half the night reading the door magnet thread (very addicting), decided to register.

We will be on this cruise - and I can't wait. I'm more excited than anyone, I think! It will myself and my husband (his first cruise), my daughter and her husband and my six year old granddaughter (who is "almost" as excited as I am!).

We did the pre-Disney Big Red Boat trips many years ago when my kids were little and have been back to Disney World and Disneyland but not on the cruise.

Hoping to meet you all!

I don't think so -many schools don't even start until after Labor Day.

Is it unusual to have cruises sold out? This is our first on Disney so I have no clue.

i read some posts on another thread where it was stated that this was a school vacation week and i believe the poster was in georgia. we will be onboard before you know it, time sure does fly. anyone doing any excursions or palo? we are arriving the day before and will stay at wilderness lodge, and we will disembark and go on to saratoga until monday morning. gives us a little time to do the parks. we just returned july 8 from 9 days at saratoga. so this will be a really relaxing trip.

Wow - 3 categories! That's so cool. Someone said that they thought there were a few people doing back to back (of course I had no clue what they were talking about at first). Sounds like something we'll consider in the future.

Can't wait -right now I'm engrossed in creating door magnets, reading my newly purchased Passporter and finding the perfect Disney bag for the park. I'm thinking Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Who knew?

This is our first cruise. My husband, I and 3 kids 6,7,12. We are wanting to have a night alone while we are onboard. Has anyone left there kids in the oceaneer club? How safe is it, and how do they ensure that a child doesnt wander off? We have a room with a balcony as well. Are there child proof locks on the sliding glass doors. My husband and I are worry warts and we were curious about some of these safety measures on board. Any info someone has would be helpful.::confused3

Thank you so much for the message gerber daisy1234. I am new to the boards and I wasnt aware you had to have 10 posts to send a message.

I thought that may be a silly concern (about the clubs, balcony etc.) to some because its Disney and I am sure they take every safety precaution. Our 2 DS (7,6) can be very rambunctious when they're bored, but I am sure they will be so overwhelmed by the ship itself that boredom will not be an issue. Our DD is 12 and will probably be more into the preteen/teen activities. Do you have to make a reservation upon boarding or can you just bring the kids? We did the preregister thing but I wasnt sure if you could just drop them off or if you needed to schedule a time. I would think the clubs would be filled pretty quickly.

We are SOOOO excited as well. We did Disney Parks last year and my hubby and I returned feeling more exhausted than rested.:scared1: We are doing 5 nights at the Poly prior to the cruise, so we are crossing fingers for some R&R on the ship. As far as Palo goes, alot of friends have told us that the food is so great at the other restaurants thats its really not necessary. Palo had no availabilty when I checked anyways.

It will be here soon!!!:rotfl:

cnew-even though you did the online registration you still have to intially check them in and receive a pager. try to do this when you board as the first day will have a lot of wait time. go to the 5th flloor and there will be tables for getting the pager, (if i remember correctly). On the three night cruise you have to wait until dinner starts and that is when the clubs open. I forgot that when you get your pager your child receives a wristband that they leave on for the duration of the cruise and like my dd about a couple of weeks after:goodvibes You just drop them off and they always get checked in each time, you then pick them up when you want or they will page you if they want to be picked up. I always tell my dd that she is not able to be checked into the club until after dinner, otherwise she would opt for that and miss the dining experience. She has seen all the shows, except for Toy Story and I will make sure she attends that also. It is a great program for the kids, my dd never wants to leave. Be sure to attend the grad thing on the last day. It is very nice.

HI, This is a link to a great trip report with daily navigators from a 3 day cruise in JUne. It will give you a great idea about all ther is to do on the cruise.

YOu will see the lab is open to visit as a family and check out from @12-3 then open for drop off pick up any time 6-12midnight.

Friday open with 9am-12midnight (the navigator will show you types off activites going on) YOu can drop off an pick up any time. THey even have activities on the beach Saturday 9-3 if you wish. They have to back on ship and at lab @4:15 to rehearse for their graduation ceremony. After ceremony lab open until midnight again. You can do an hour here and hour there, several hours, or if you wanted all day- they take them for meals at I think the buffet. We always did meals together.

Check out the trip report though because you will see ther is more to do than possible. Don't try to do it all -JUST HAVE FUN!!! Hope to see you there.

We are doing 4 nights before at CBR and 3 might after at ASMo. Getting REAL excited received packet for first reservation today!!! YEah!!

Hi...You are not too far from us! We live in Willow Springs, Il, its just west of Midway Airport!

As far as the kids club goes, the safety is remarkable. As far as wandering off, they have gates, and you need a password to take a child from the club even if your key to the world card says you are the parent. We have 3 daughters ages 12, 9, and 4...they love the clubs, our 4 yr old cries when we pick her up that she wants to stay, once you get the kids in there you will have no worries! The have family time on the first day of the cruise in the afternoon, so go and check out the kids clubs with the kids then.

Yep - the weather was great. I stayed on board on Nassau day but the others went out and got rained on in the afternoon. Other than that - it was perfect.

Sorry you ended up sitting alone! We're not morning people - so we had second seating which I'm guessing, if you were seeing the shows, you didn't have. There just wasn't time to do everything...but I want to go back (soon!).

We took my granddaughter to a lot of the character pictures - which we probably wouldn't do so much next time so that would free up a bunch of time. And 3 nights just wasn't enough - so next time, definitely 4 at least, maybe 7.

Wish we could still get the 10% discount but I knew it was on board only - we just weren't ready to commit then.

:)

Hi, We had a great time even though my DD got sick. I think 3 long days at Disney in the heat and not eating normal did her in.

We actually spent more time than plan in our stateroom. Thankfully it had a balcony. We got what we needed- REST!
The view was beautiful and I actually got to read a book. Haven't had the time to do that in a long time.

Thankfully she was feeling better by Saturday and we went to Castaway- beautiful day. I snorkeled! You would have to know that 6 years ago I couldn't even put my head under water. I took my first swim lesson after my DS was born. I can swim until I need about my third breathe and I start to feel panic. I purchase a snorkel set to practice with at pool before we left. I loved it! It was awesome!

We missed 2 nights of dinner and shows but we still had a great time. My daughter felt bad that we missed so much since she was sick but I told her it was okay. We all needed rest and we probably would not have rested otherwise.

We headed back to Disney. Next time I think I would like to do just a cruise and skip the Disney. Not that we didn't have a great time, I was just exhausting. I think we will keep them in seperate trips.

We did four days at Disney before hitting the Wonder, and honestly, after the fun we had at Disney the Wonder just could not compare. :(

It was my fourth cruise (second DCL), and DH's first. He quickly realized that cruising is not his "thing"--where the rocking always puts me to sleep, it actually kept him up! So he didn't get a whole lot of sleep and spent the trip pretty much exhausted.

We made it to dinner on the first night, but our tablemates weren't the talkative bunch (plus we were supposed to be at a four-top and ended up at an eight-top!). In fact, one couple left extremely quickly because the husband was looking rather, uhh, green. Since he was sitting across from me, I didn't mind they left! Nassau night we went to Palo, which was wonderful! Except we shared a bottle of wine, and near the bottom of that bottle I was feeling fairly relaxed to the point that I tipped over my glass. Whoops! And then the final night DH was in no mood for dinner, so we went to deck nine, grabbed some cheeseburgers and chicken fingers, and watched part of the football game they had playing on the giant screen before turning in for the night.

All in all, it was an okay trip. We went to Atlantis for a short while in Nassau, but ended up back at the ship quickly. During the rain, DH slept and I read out on the balcony, which was very relaxing until I realized I had sunburned myself pretty well. There was a line on my legs where you could see the balcony's shadow had been.. oops! Castaway was a blast, minus the sunburns again, and also minus the fact that DH's shoes got left on the family beach. What concerns me though is that I do NOT remember seeing his shoes on the beach when I packed our stuff up, so I really think someone saw a pair of new sneakers and (no pun intended) walked off with them. Thank God they didn't walk off with worse, like our camera or camcorder!

We'll probably skip cruising for a few years and go again when Disney's new ships are completed. But meanwhile, we're already making plans for more WDW trips! :cheer2:
