Magic Montain to Legoland....How long ????

Hi,
Just wondering how long it would take to drive from Valencia to Carlsbad. I know the park opens at 10 am. I don't know if we should leave super early (6: am) and arrive before lunch or wait until 10 am and arrive after lunch. Problem is the park closes at 5:oo pm. People have told me that highway 5 is CRAZY during rush hour and that it could take up to over 4 hours !:scared1:

Any suggestions ????

That's a tough one. With no traffic, it would take you about 2 hours. But if you leave Valencia at 6, you could get stuck in early rush hour at 7 or 7:30.

Is there any way you could stay in Carlsbad the night before? There is some amazing shopping right by Legoland that might be worth the extra time there!

I live in Valencia. If there is no traffic, and that is very rare, it takes me an hour to get to Disneyland in Anaheim. On a normal day, it usually takes me about 2 and a half to 3 hours to get there, due to traffic. Saturdays are equally bad, but I've done well on Sundays. Usually I make it in an hour on a Sunday, or coming back from Disneyland to my home around 11 at night. Getting through Los Angeles is always an adventure. You would think the traffic would ease up after you've gone through that area, but it usually stays pretty thick until you reach Orange County and that wonderful carpool lane. Even though I don't live all that far from Disneyland, I'll stay the night there just because the drive is so long at times. I'm sorry, I have no idea how long it would take to go from Anaheim to Legoland to complete your journey, I only know the beginning of it.

On a positive note, I just remembered that a friend of mine who works occasionally at Disneyland will leave his house here around 5:30 in the morning and can get there in pretty good time. By 6 or 6:30, people are starting to head out to work.
