I thought I had read somewhere that the Swan and Dolphin Hotels were not owned by Disney. Are they separate from Disney or owned by Disney? Thanks.

They are not owned by Disney. Guests of the Swan and Dolphin resorts do enjoy all of the same perks as guests of Disney resorts, with the exception of Mickey soaps, Mickey wake-up calls and the ability to charge park purchases back to your room (altho all purchases made at the S/D shops and restaraunts can be charged back to your room)

I can't begin, in a short time, to describe all of the extra perks that you get by staying at the S/D, tho. :D

Swan and Dolphin Oatmeal soap and face soap is 25 times better than mickey soap anyway!:D

Also, their location is awesome if you are a MGM/Epcot Fan. And they are just like staying at a Disney Deluxe, if not nicer!

Everyone should try them out atleast once.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I think the land is owned by Disney, and leased to the Starwood Group, who own the Swan and Dolphin Resorts.

Personally, while staying at both resorts, I didn't lose any of the so called 'disney magic' by not staying at a "disney resort." The CM's there are all fantastic, housekeeping is impeccable, plenty of theming and beautiful landscaping, not to mention boat transportation to MGM and Epcot! Or, you are close enough to both that you can even walk.

I'm sold on the Dolphin, it is one of my most favorite places on earth!

Blondie--

I have been unofficially told (maybe another Urban Legend at Disney?? Who knows??) that Disney owns the land, buildings, etc, but, it is leased to Starwood with a 99 year contract. :earseek:

Starwood may as well own it.

Poohlover I too have been told about the land. I think it is more than an urban legend. Starwwod Corp, who owns all the Sheaton, Westins, and St. Regis hotels owns the Swan and Dolphin too. The oatmeal soaps are much much better than the Disney soaps, but no Mickey's anywhere on them. I am one who is sold on these two resorts... :)
