Ok...... We've had enough of winter weather and there is supposed to be more on the way for early next week :furious: So....... it's 55 degrees outside right now and DW and I just chipped a path through 3 inches of ice on the deck so we can get to the grill!! Looks like either steaks or burgers on the grill tonight!! :woohoo: At least if we don't look outside while we eat, we can pretend that it is warmer weather.
Can't wait to be on the Magic again!!

Sorry..... closer to central MA, near the Middlesex - Worcester county line. The last forecast I saw called for the good ole "wintry mix" (snow, sleet and freezing rain for you warm weather dwellers) on Monday and Monday night. We have definitely had enough too!!! That's why we decided to blaze a trail to the grill and have some "warm weather food".
Just keep thinking.... it has to end soon, it has to end soon. Six weeks from right now, our sailaway party will be starting!! :woohoo:
To o4me2playn...... trust us, we would be more than happy to ship our precip out west to you. I just checked the other board and was able to connect.

We actually went bike riding yesterday and now this!!!!!!! ARGGGHHHHHHH!!!!
This winter is stinky doo doo!!!
But just think how much stinkier it would be if we didn't have a cruise booked in 40 days - now that is one happy thought!!! :goodvibes :cutie:
Welcome to someone actually taking advantage of the FL discounts for this cruise!!!!!! Yeah brendapap!!!!!
I tried to get a friend of mine in FL to go becaus the deals were so good - no go!
How you guys doing on the diets? I actually lost some weight, about 7 pounds, and I am hoping to get down a few, or more than a few, more in the next 40 days.
I was going to start packing this weekend, but I have been sick as a dog and couldn't do it. I was actually quarantined last week by my doc with a nasty chest virus thing that manifested into bronchitis for me and pneumonia for my daughter.
its a huge understatement that I want this winter to be over with and to stop being sick anymore!!!! :headache:

Doc's call it "ILS" - influenza like symptoms. Everyone coughing their brains out for at least a month, fortunately did not progress to pneumonia or bronchitis.
Yes, this does make the cruise that much sweeter. But it's hard to get into clothes shopping, impossible to outside exercise when the weather is so nasty.
Congratulations on the diet. Mine, not so good!

I am sick too, strep - but luckily just me, so far....So weird about the weather, all the neighbors finally crept out of their houses yesterday - kids playing outside, parents having a cocktail on my deck to celebrate the turn of weather and bam snow again this morning - so strange.... Regarding weight - yeah, not so good. I was doing really well but lost steam. Luckily the strep is helping, ha ha - but I have to get serious now again and start excersizing.

I'm with you - diet not so good but I'm a big person anyway.
Weather is cool in CA today - mid 50's but supposed to be 70 by weekend - hope so! I plan on starting to pack this weekend also (already have my lists going) as I'm booked solid till we leave.
See you all soon!

Thinking about a fish extender but to late to order one. Anyone know of a store I can buy one at? Thanks Brenda

There are a few folks on Ebay who sell them - if you order one - it should arrive in time for the cruise. OH and they will make them with what ever character you decide. (I ordered mine off of Ebay and it will arrive any day now).

Everyone - there is NO meet planned as of yet for once on board - and no meet planned for prior to cruise date either.
This is open for anyone wishing to plan one to do so.
The only planned activity is the fish extender exchange.
We do not have T-Shirts, wrist bands, lanyards, etc.
This is also open for a hearty planning sole to take on if anyone wants to.
Please feel free to step forward to plan any of this or help plan a meet.
I have been asked not to do this again by my husband, who regretably experienced a bit of missed wife last cruise due to the organization of meets, etc. I vowed not to do it to him again (see we had an infant that someone always needed to stay with when the DIS'rs were getting together at Palo or Sessions, as an explanation). So, that being said, the position of cruise director of the Patriots in the Caribbean is OPEN.
My family will be wearing our wrist bands from our prior cruise - which are lime green to signify the DIS.
if anyone wants to organize this, its at www.reminderband.com (http://www.reminderband.com) I ordered them last time and we wrote on them, DISney Magic'al Memories 4-29-06 and had them made in lime green and we used the glow in the dark lettering. They are super cool!
It was so cool to walk around and see everyone with them! We had a large DIS group and felt like we had friends everywhere on the ship.
OK - that's probably as far as I am allowed to go with the whole planning thing at this time. Sorry. I am here to keep us moving along in the thread, but that's all I can do this cruise and keep my wonderful husband happy. :rolleyes1

This is our first Disney cruise, so I don't think I'll bite on taking on "full-blown" cruise director role, but I'd be willing to order wristbands. If I order 100 will that be sufficient?

We'll be the male couple at the Quiet Cove pool with a bucket of Miller Lite -- feel free to walk-up and introduce yourself if you see us! It's so easy to strike up a conversation with a fellow Disney fan. :goodvibes
BTW, has anyone seen that thread on "Age Enforcement"? I really hope we don't run into that issue on our cruise. Do you bring your Miller on-board? This is our first time planning to bring on-board, and I'm nervous about bringing on glass bottles. If they're not allowed, that's fine, I'll just need to find a store close to port that sells the plastic bottles -- which can be a challenge . . .

No, but I was just about to go read it - love a little controversy in my reading on the DIS - oh, and you may have to be a bit more specific since on our last DCL cruise there were more than just one male couple! ;) In fact we were cruising with a lot of the DIS webmasters and Pete too!
I think ABC has the plastic long necks in stock or else Publix does. It may not be that hard to find since everyone wants them to be by the pool! Hope you have luck with it! We had a huge bucket of them by Ron Jons' pool when we met up with some people from our cruise there last time and they had gotten them at Publix.

I got to page 4 and gave up on that one.
The good news, epcotrulz, is that its only spring break for us up here in the Northeast, so that should limit the amount of school aged kids (read: poorly behaved parents) on the cruise.
I didn't spend much time at the Quiet Cove Pool, so I don't know if this went on the last April cruise we took. I don't think so, because when I was there, it was ADULTS only.
Hoping for a very well behaved, awesome group of cruisers on our Magic'al voyage! :cutie: :goodvibes
We had the WORST cruise of our life one time because of, and only because of, the way people were acting on that cruise - so, truly, this is my BIG wish for this upcoming cruise!

I hate to be the bearer of somewhat bad news, but every DCL cruise we have taken during the MA spring break, was pretty loaded with school aged kids. The past two years we have taken a 4 night and there were close to 1000 kids on both of them. The last 7 night we took during spring break (April, 2004), I recall them saying, during the D Sea U graduation, that there were 1200 kids on board, and several hundred of them were from MA.
Hopefully, the adults will behave themselves on this cruise.

so then the question for you is, were the parents/kids as bad during the april cruises you have taken as the thread implies people are being right now about staying within the adults only rules?
Our last cruise wasn't during a school vacation week, so that would have impacted my impression of it not being that bad.
I know the stage was full of kids and I am pretty sure we were at capacity with kids on our cruise because we had a friend wanting to join us and they couldn't because there was no room for a family with children to book at the point they made this decision. But sometimes it matters what breakdown of kids you have cruising.
I don't know. :confused3
Let's all hope for great people - no manner issues - and all pixie dust and magic! :tinker: ::MickeyMo

I'm not sure the April cruises were really much different than the others we've been on. I've been following the thread about adult areas as well, and I think you may see some of what is being discussed, on just about any DCL cruise. Personally, I don't have a problem with kids just doing a quick check in with parents or just walking through the Quiet Cove area. If it becomes more than that, I would not hesitate to seek out a CM or complain at Guest Services. It is also impossible to get anywhere aft of the forward elevators (on deck 9) without going through the adults only area. We don't usually go to the nightclubs after 9:00pm, so I have no first hand experience with that issue.

We got our cruise docs today, too!! And the luggage tags had our upgraded cabin number on them so that made me feel better. (I must have checked our online reservation 5 times to make sure I wasn't reading the stateroom number. It still says we're booked for a Category 9, though, which is what was making me nervous.)
Oh, and just to make it all the more realistic, we got a call from DVC Member Services this afternoon, telling us about the cabin upgrade. Funny how both happened on the same day!
We're driving down to FL (from MA) and we're leaving 4 WEEKS FROM TODAY!!!  :cool1: :cool1:

We got our today too!
On my December cruise during the lifeboat drill they asked the guest be quiet in the hall, do not hang out by staircases. Lots of do's and don'ts and to respect other passengers....
I saw them ask kids who were sitting in a chair at the Adult pool to leave.
The worst thing I saw and this was a couple of cruises ago was when a boy went the bathroom in the Goofy pool .....and the father slithered away while everyone else swam in his son's toilet. He picked up his two boys and walked away.....I had to get the cast member to close the pool. I was sitting on the edge watching my son swim when this boy started yelling Daddy I have to go the bathroom and he yelled well where is your Mom.
It was really bad.....

So, girls, I am going to go for the.... shhhhh...... wax route this cruise. Never done it for anything other than brows. I am a little scared. :scared1: I actually think I may even go to tan a little too - never done that either, but I spend most cruises burnt like a lobstah the first few days and my sister keeps telling me to do it so I don't have to worry so much.

I just went and checked on the cruise and right now there are only Cat 4,5,6 available. When you click Cat 6 you are only guaranteed - no specific rooms available to see. I clicked on main seating for dining and it gave it to me, but I didn't go to the end, so I don't know if it would have held.
I am more calm than I would have been about it. But it does look like they are filling the ship. I would take big bets that you could get a suite if you wanted one, though.

Thanks so much for the advice!

After you check in, you can go to the supervisor's station at the counter (far right end, next to Concierge check in) and ask if any upgrades are available (if none are available, there will be a small sign indicating that none are available). The price is based on what you booked versus what category you want to upgrade to, and it is a per cabin charge, not per person. Prices vary from cruise to cruise, so no way to tell until you get there.

sandyam - yeah, thanks - I am scared! :scared1: But I do have to report that I have started the tanning and that is ADDICTING! It feels soooo good to go and lay under the heat for a few short minutes and pretend you are on the beach! I have to be careful not to get addicted to it - as a mega blond former lifeguard with waaaaaaaay too many burns already under my belt for comfort in the skin cancer arena. But I do think its a good thing to be getting a base going - I really have become too familiar with ships doctors in the past for sun blistering. Its really a problem for me.
I even got burnt this past Saturday with that gorgeous weather we had - we were outside from 8:30 am until 5:30 - we just didn't want it to end! Knowing full well what Sunday was going to be like.
We finally got our docs this past Friday from our TA - see Julie, yours isn't the slowest in that category.

are you sure you have checked in to the right cruise? Your cabin should have been assigned at this time.
I am going to leave this to Jon, but we did have a cut off for Fish extender participation because of the needs of everyone to get the count correct for purchasing items.
brendapap, I did add you to my personal list and others may also do the same, but as tinkerbelle said, there is a very big liklihood we will not hear from Jon prior to the cruise. brendapap has been participating in the other site for quite some time now, so I have no problem adding you into my list.
fbtbdisney, you have not been participating in the thread or other site, so I am not inclined to add your name since FE gifts actually are a labor of love and participation by a group of newly created friends who have been chatting for months now. If you have been doing this for 14 cruises, I would think you would know that and know the effort that goes into this.
I searched your profile and you put down all different amounts of past cruises in other threads (although you only have 14 posts) and also try to jump in on the end of fish extender participation for the March Wonder, January Wonder, and December Wonder.
Honestly, I want everyone to have fun on a cruise and get the experience of a fish exchange, but my vote would to say, I am sorry, but we did close participation.

well dang... I'm thinking we need to find a restaurant and have a GTG in Cocoa Beach... haha.
If I weren't so crazed with packing and closing out work, I'd look into it... but right now, I'm a little like a chicken with my head cut off and I know nothing about Cocoa Beach other than .... ummmmm.... it's in Florida????? hahaha

You can buy a Hyatt Stay Certificate for a discounted price and use it for one night at a Hyatt hotel! Soo...we're staying at the Hyatt only we didn't pay $200.00 for the room! lol!
I stayed on Hotwire for WEEKS trying to find something but our date never showed up so I finally gave up and ordered the certificate instead.

I would suggest to anyone looking for something at the port either the new restaurant, Milliken's Reef, or Grille's or Fish Lips.
I don't want to pin down on a dinner because we will be in the parks and I then have to get over to Cocoa beach and shop and get settled for the night. I am hoping to make it to dinner somewhere, but I am not optimistic.

Our plane doesn't even get into Orlando until 1:30, so we won't be able to make the meet by the tv's. We will look for everyone after the fire drill?
Now to start sewing...on top of packing, shopping, cleaning and cooking since I just found out we have relatives coming to stay with us THIS WEEK! Got the call last night.

I am thinking of cancelling a shore excursion and my high tea ressie. Can I cancel either of these onboard, or should I do it on-line? If on-line, does the window close on Wednesday night??

To avoid being charged, excursions must be canceled 3 days prior to sailing. You can probably get away with not being charged for the high tea if you wait until you're on board, as long as you cancel early. If you don't really think you want to do either one, I would suggest canceling now to be certain you won't be charged. I'm not sure what they consider to be 3 days, it could be by tonight (Tuesday).

OMG I am freakin out with last minute stuff!!! I am sooo excited, though. But If I wake up for the littlest thing at night, there is no going back to sleep!
Hey, did you all pre-pay tips or are you bringing cash?

I missed you can prepay for tips... so I guess I'd say no, I haven't... lol
I have a piece of paper with me or near me at all times right now... even next to the bed so I can write down last minutes things to buy or reminders.
A little frenzied.... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

We usually just charge them to our onboard account around the middle of the cruise, and then add a little extra cash if we feel it is deserved.
