View Full Version : how was your Ocala visitors center luck
My wife and i are taking a vacation to Pensicala FLA, with her parents to a condo. Since we have a newborn (6 months) her parents offered to watch our daughter for a few days if we wanted to take off and just relax with the 2 of us. March 26 and 27th.
So we were thinking of a quick 5 hour drive to Disney for 2-3 days.
My question is about the Disney Ocala visitors center. People have said you can get great last second deals.
I want to do 2 nights at the grand floridian, no park hoppers (I have many good ones still).
Should i do the normal reservations, or do you think I can get a good deal the day we want a room in Ocala. In 2 weeks Tues and wednesday.
Thanks

I don't know if I would chance it but if you can go with the flow... I do know that it is usually easier to get a room in WDW on Tuesday. Good Luck

We've stopped there twice in the last two years and were unable to get ressies at the resorts we wanted. Luckily we already had ressies - I just thought I'd be able to get a better deal. I think the cancellation policy is 48 hours so you could book rooms now and cancel if you get a better deal at Ocala. Good luck.

I think the cancellation policy is 5 days prior or you lose 1 night's deposit. ~:)~

However - that was in late Nov. early Dec. - a much lighter period...and we were not locked into a particular deluxe (we wanted the AKL and got it, but we would have been happy other places as well).
If you absolutely want to stay at a particular resort you should go ahead and make a reservation at that resort, especially if you are traveling during a busier time of the year (like right now :-).
We have used the Ocala Info Center several times and always got a room at the resort we wanted (not always at a great discount though) probably because we only visit when WDW isn't busy.
One 'tactic' we use is to make a reservation at one of the moderates and then stop at Ocala and see what kind of an 'upgrade' to a deluxe (the GF for example) we can manage. That way our deposit gets applied to the 'upgraded' room.
I would think that for just a couple of days in the middle of the week - even during a busy time - you should be able to get a decent discount on a deluxe resort - I'm just not sure that it will be the GF...

You are arriving at WDW 5 days before Easter, which is a VERY busy time! I personally wouldn't chance it, but good luck to you!

I too have often wondered about this, but have never actually known anyone who did. Please let us know if you do and if you get a room.
