..Just a little eager about when DVC when will start taking 11 mo ressies for Kidani. I would think it will be sometime in the next 6 months. If I remember correctly, it's opening spring/summer '09. :coffee:

We were told unofficially last week that they are hoping it will be open Fall 2008 - that they are ahead of schedule. So, I'm agreeing - hopefully soon for ressies!!!

The first phase of Kidani Village is ahead of schedule. it may open around December of this year. They can not sell any of the units until its 70-80% complete. They can not reserve rooms until the inventory has been declared. So 11 months booking will not happen for along while for the Kidani section.

You say phase 1 is ahead of schedule. How many phases are there for Kidani village?

My guide also hinted that it might be as early as December this year. I am planning on a June 2009 Kidani stay so I am hoping to be able to make that at 11 months. Will AKV owners get a priority window over non AKV owners when reservations begin to be accepted?

We are also planning a May trip for Kidani next year and are wondering the same as you.....will AKV owners get a priority booking window? Also, will we have to find out on the DIS that they're taking reservations for Kidani, or will DVC let owners know in advance of any announcement?

Both Jambo House and Kidani Village are/were ahead of schedule. I think anyone who looking for summer of 2009 will not have a problem booking a room.

When Jambo House first opened there was a month or two window for owners to book a room, before the other resort owners were allowed to reserve a room.

Thanks so much for the info.! Does your guide call you to let you know, do you get a letter, etc.?

Anyone know how they have treated waitlists in the past as well? Several of us are waitlisted for rooms inthe month of December, should (oh how im hoping the rumors and speculation turn out to be true) Kidani open up would we get our waitlists filled?

I have a confirmed ressie for 1 - 8 December which is obviously in Jambo, but because we are 3 Mums and 3 kids we would prefer a dedicated 2 bedroom rather than the lock-off we obviously have booked right now. My question is this, if Kidani is ready for action will I, as a AKV owner have the right to swap to Kidani and thus a dedicated 2 bedroom? If so how do I do this? Ring MS as soon as the news of completion goes live or should I put in a request for this now just in case it is completed by early December?:confused3

You can't request for it now. You will have to wait until DVC announces when they are going to start accepting reservations.

When we called to make our ressies for December (so in early January), the MS rep told us we would probably be able to call back in "early to mid-summer" to switch over to Kidani if we wanted to.

The unofficial line was that Kidani would be opening begining this fall, and would be COMPLETE by Spring of '09....while before it was supposed to START opening in Spring of '09 and be complete by late Fall of '09.

We're considering the switch...but haven't made a firm decision yet.

When we asked, we were told it would probably be handled just like the concierge/value accomodations were. Owners would get about 30 days, or so, priority to make new ressies and/or switch existing ressies over.

My plans for 08 are pretty firm already.

That being said, while I am jazzed for Kidani to be open, I know I personally will not make a reservation there unless at the time I am travelling the pool complex is entirely open.

If I have to hoof it over to Jambo to take my kids swimming, that would put a bit of a damper on the concept of vacation.

Kidani will not have concierge - only Jambo has that.

you should - but would call mS and tell them you will accept a villa in either Jambo or Kidani - you don't care which - to increase your chances.

That'll be the kicker for us, too. The pool has to be open for us to switch.

That being said, I'd be surprised if they opened up ANYTHING until at least the pool (maybe not the play area) and the lobby (and maybe the restaurant) were ready to open, too. Not shocked, but surprised.

I doubt that all of the amenities will be complete in December. The pool might be done, Sanaa might be open too. But I don't think either of them will be complete.

So take that into account everyone who is wanting Kidani Village in December.

I agree. I would be surprised if everything (amenities) are ready when the building first opens. So it will definitely take some thought as to whether to switch a reservation from Jambo House to Kidani. For me personally, if the savanna wasn't ready, I don't know if I would switch. If the savanna is ready on the other hand, Kidani here I come!

Had to call member services on the 19th for a few other things, but while I was on the line I asked about Kidani opening early and waitlists. The castmember told me "I have no idea. You have to understand that there is also alot of paperwork both state and federal that has to filed and approved in addition to all the interior work that has to be done before it's ready to be occupied" SO. who knows what will happen...:confused3
