We'll be taking our first trip to Vero Beach from April 6-12, and while we've road tripped to Disney 44 times and feel pretty confident about WDW, I know *nothing* about Vero!
We'll be driving down with two kids, ages 7 and 9, and I would love to hear about any tips, advice or ideas that the Vero "old hats" have so I can avoid the newbie mistakes! :worship:
I need a "taking notes" emoticon here :)

We will be there too! WE get there on Saturday. You will love it. It will be our 2nd trip there. The boys will be 4 for this one, they were 1 the first time. THey are very excited about the pirate ship. Although yours will be to big for that, but they will love the Mickey pool and big slide. Maybe we will see you there!

No mistakes here..... you have just decided to explore the other Disney world...
Imagine Disney at the ocean edge... the perfect place for those who love to experience the sun, the life, the ocean.... Since you are Disney "old hat", I can communicate with you...
VB is Disney... You see it everywhere... You know it because the CMs are the best anywhere... they are true Disney... as nobody disputes.
Truly, the best I can do is direct you to the info thread of the famous starbox started in 2007, and I have now continued.... so here are the links to both these threads.

We've been to VB 3 or 4 times. We really like it there. My kids were 6, 10 and 13 the last time we were there. They all loved the slide (as did DH & I). My middle child had a great time at archery, it seems as though they were supposed to be 8 or so to participate. He also went on an off-site outing with the naturalist and waded out in water and did some type of catch and release and learned about the fish that they caught. At VB, we mostly enjoy the beach and the pool and activities at the resort. As everyone will attest to, the CMs at VB are wonderful. They have a campfire several evenings during the week and roast marshmallows and make s'mores. We always have a car when we are there, so we're able to drive to different places to eat. There are many great places in the area to eat. All of our trips have been in October during our fall break. The weather is just the way we like in then! I hope you enjoy your trip. After falling in love with VB, you'll need to give HH a try too!

There are lots of great daily activities for kids in the 7-9 age range. My kids are around the same age. Their favorites were soccer, kickball, water slide races and paper airplane making (I did that with DS, it was a lot of fun flying the various planes out on the lawn). The mini golf course is fun, too.

Don't forget to go across the street - you go through the peter pan tunnel under the highway and over to the lake, tennis courts, soccer fields, and a cute forrest walk around the lake. We've been to VB about 5 times - going again right before you get there. We mainly spend all our days at the pool. Have been meaning to go to the botanical gardens and the art museum in town and to the manatee observation place about 30 minutes away - but still haven't managed to do it...maybe this next trip!
You'll love it - have a great trip!

The Archery at Vero sounds interesting. Two of my boys would be old enough for that. I presume it is a daily activity supervised by CMs that you sign up at Eb and Flows for, huh?
We'll have to give that one a try. They are starting to outgrow the unbirthday party.pixiedust:
