Lindsay, I must say I have really enjoyed reading your PS TR with the sidenotes from Caryn too :goodvibes

Congratulations on the race! It was really neat to hear how they have things set up along the way. I love the rhinestones for the cake, that is such a cool touch. I think it would be a great combo with the HEA one.

How cool that they had your tasting in the AAR :cool1: ; we were just stuck in the Epcot kitchen (we were at LS like Caryn).

Hi, Lindsay
We received our invitation Tuesday and will be honored to attend your wedding. (Actually we planned to show up with or without one, since we're Caryn's inlaws!:thumbsup2). The invitation (all parts of it) are just beautiful, which is no surprise since we all know how talented Caryn is! Speaking of whom, she came down with Mark Tuesday & filled us in on their visit with you and Chris and all about the marathon. What a hoot! Especially Mr. Speedo.

Your mom is going to be in Dallas this week & then in Houston for the weekend, so we hope to see her then. She's really excited about the shower and wedding. I hope Caryn remembers to get plenty of toilet paper for the wedding dress at the shower . . . I'll have to remind her.:rotfl2:

Can't wait for April 26!

Morning Ladies. Today is my three month mark!! How scary!

Yesterday I was FINALLY able to make our rehearsal breakfast/dinner reservations... We have ressies for Ohana breakfast for our friends in the wedding party and ressies in Japan (Tokyo Dining, not Teppan) for our family.

aisle runner update...

i was slightly apprehensive about this. probably because i can't measure to save my life. i bought a 100 ft runner which was waaaaay too long. so i measured out 50 feet and put the monogram on it. since this process started, i cut 25 feet off the end of the runner. i couldn't deal with all the extra and i need some practice space for the H...more on that later.

i had one heck of a time trying to figure out how to print the monogram out so big. it needed to be 3 feet by 3 feet. my printer wasn't having it, so i finally just called a copy place and they did it for me. here is the monogram

http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q184/caryncraig/100_1381.jpg

i changed it because originally, we were going to make the H glittery and that would have looked weird with the black paint being non-glittery, so i put the H on top...but after some consideration, the H will probably not be glittery (i didn't want it to get all over her dress when she walks over it)...anyway, mom and i traced the monogram onto the runner
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q184/caryncraig/100_1383.jpg
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q184/caryncraig/100_1385.jpg

then i started painting
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q184/caryncraig/100_1386.jpg
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q184/caryncraig/100_1387.jpg

it looks really good. like, REALLY good. i'm actually quite proud of myself. i hope to have it complete by the end of the week. i'm experimenting with pink paint and glitter for the H...we'll see how that works out.

cyndi-i'm currently trying to find a fabric sample to match my dress to give to my colorist for the hair. we have to coordinate!

so, the experiments with the aisle runner are completed. now i need votes...

here are the pinks. i think i have a final choice...FINALLY. i have decided against glitter (i know, i know-you're all so surprised), when the dresses go over it and it smears, it will make the runner look dirty. here you go...

i had a hard time deciding between the metallic pink and the darker pink...tell me what you think.

http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q184/caryncraig/a8b123af.jpg

and here's martini, she always has to be involved.

http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q184/caryncraig/f14193c5.jpg

one more shot

http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q184/caryncraig/8d7ecd33.jpg

so tell me what you think. it's between the 2 H's to the right of the big glittery H...

Lindsay22

i like the lighter pink. the other pink looks orange

caryndisneydiva
02-01-2009, 04:47 PM
stupid iphone camera. it's actually not orange at all, it's more purple based (but not TOO purple)...

i'm afraid that the lighter pink is TOO light and won't show up like i need it to...decisions decisions.

in other wedding news, i bought the feathers for mom's headpiece (they're small, i swear) and i'm going to make the beaded mickey's while watching stupid bowl commercials...

caryndisneydiva
02-01-2009, 04:49 PM
are we looking at the same pink? i'm talking about the one at the bottom right of the sample. there was another pink, but it was a disaster, that one is near the top of the sample...

Lindsay22
02-01-2009, 05:27 PM
um caryn... mom's wearing feathers?? we didn't discuss this.

No feathers? No pink highlights? No toilet paper at the shower? Lindsay, where's your sense of fun! Did Caryn mention WHERE on your mom's outfit those feathers will be located?:crazy2: Think about it . . .

Loved the shots of Martini helping with the runner - the pink pawprints are going to look just darling on it.

Mark had the nerve to tell me not to wear the same outfit to your wedding that I wore to his and Caryn's wedding. He says people will remember it. Maybe I can wear it again for Megan's nuptials?

P.S. to Caryn: Were you able to get the pink sparkly toilet paper I told you about for the shower?

Okay, So my bridal shower is next Sunday (Caryn's birthday). I've had a really hard time finding an outfit because my shower is in the middle of winter in New Jersey and I live in Tampa. It's really hard to find a sweater in Tampa!! Finally I forced myself to go to the mall today and not leave until I had something to wear. I ended up with a black and white flowerish print dress, with some hot pink accents. I got a black cardigan sweater to wear with it so that I don't get cold. I like it very much and it fits better than I thought it would. So that was good. It's a big stress off me now. I have a lot silver Tiffany jewelry and I'm going to wear that.

I got my hair cut in anticipation of my shower. I also paid off Chris's wedding band and we now have that finished. I got my engagement ring cleaned and inspected while I was at the jewelers.

The floral budget came in today. I've already gotten out my scissors to do some major cutting. I'm really excited about the crystals for the ribbon part of the flower balls for the bridesmaids. It's a black crystal and looks FAB!!

Thanks for sticking with me through all of this. Next Tuesday will be the one year anniversary of our engagement.

On Sunday we had breakfast some fellow disbrides (Catherine, Kristen and Michelle) and then we went out to Rev Miller's church to meet him. THAT CHURCH IS HUGE!! Apparently they do a TV broadcast everymorning and that's where they are doing the Caylee Anthony funeral. Rev Miller was very nice and personable and we both really liked him. He also performed Johnny Damon's wedding with I thought was SOOOO COOL. (Of course, I told Caryn that and her response was "Who's that?" :confused3 ) I love Johnny Damon and I told Rev Miller that if Johnny wanted to come he was certainly invited.

Hi, Lindsay

Have a safe trip to NJ and a wonderful time at your shower. Caryn & Mark were here to visit last night and really looking forward to being there. Mark want it to snow - he'll be sorry!

You really didn't need to worry about an outfit to wear to the shower. Caryn says she has loads of toilet paper for the "bridal gown" so no one will see what's under it anyway.:rotfl2:

Best wishes,

painting it was easy, just make sure you have REALLY small paint brushes for thin script fonts, oh, and the paint bleeds a little bit on the runner. up close, it looks like i can't color in the lines :rotfl2: but from a few feet back it looks fine.

That's too funny that your remembered that shot :rotfl: On the video, Stan got her describing all the changes that had been done to it since she wore it. She was so embarassed because she said that it sounded like she was rambling, but I know it will make for great memories for years down the road.

I can't see it, I have to register but I feel silly registering when I'm already married

He also performed Johnny Damon's wedding with I thought was SOOOO COOL. (Of course, I told Caryn that and her response was "Who's that?" :confused3 ) I love Johnny Damon and I told Rev Miller that if Johnny wanted to come he was certainly invited.

I'm sad to say I don't know who he is either.

Caryn may post pikz of the shower, she may also email them to me so that I have them.

I'll do a quickie shower TR sometime soon. It was a REALLY busy weekend, we got to NJ by noon on Saturday and we left at 8am on Monday.... we packed a lot of stuff in and had a really nice time at the shower.

I can't wait to see pictures and hear all about your shower. Mine was a complete blur but I remember it like it was yesterday (and it's been 12 years)

Okay... a quick shower TR.

Around Thursday I started to come down with a cold. I lost my voice towards the end of the work day which was not good. So I decided that since we were flying out on Sat morning I would take Friday off as a sick day.

On Friday, I slept in a little bit, took a long bath and had some tea to help my throat (side note: I tend to lose my voice when I'm in high stress situations... I had been having a REALLY rough time at work and paired with wedding stress, my voice conked out.) I went to the post office to mail something to Caryn (some bead thing that she couldn't take on a plane) and then I went to the library. I've been reading the True Blood book series and I enjoy them. However, the library didn't have them. So I went to Borders, and Borders didn't have them. So I went to Books A Million and THEY didn't have them. So I finally found them at Barnes and Noble. (Thank god. I can't get on a plane without a book to read.)

I went home and packed and took a nap because I was still feeling a little sick. Taking Friday off was the best thing I could have done. I was so stressed out from work and traveling is stressful in general so I was really glad I got some time to rest. Chris came home and we had dinner at Chilis and then he packed. Unbeknownst to me (and to him) he accidentally locked the cat in the garage.

The next morning the alarm went off at 4:45  We got up finished packing and I went to go feed the cat. It was odd because she's usually running around us waiting for us to feed her and she wasn't there. I was having some coffee when I heard a meow. I checked EVERY door in the house. I looked behind every toilet, behind the washer and dryer, under the bed. Finally, I open the garage and there she was. She meowed at me and I let her in and I guess she thought she was going to get in trouble because she wuoldn't let me pet her. I gave her some treats.

We left the house and drove to the airport. I had never flown Southwest before and I was pleased to see that there is a Chilis in the southwest terminal at our airport. Good to know. We sat in the first row of the plane and they gave us free alcohol for Valentine's day! :woohoo: (For a picture of the free vodka, please see "Hank" above). We get off the plane and find my Dad and drive home.

Caryn, Megan and Mom were out buying things for the shower goody bags (tissue paper I think) so we hung out and did my taxes (don't be jealous of our fun). That is when Caryn decided to go into the basement and find some old toys. She came upstairs with a Ken doll and a Barbie gown and decided that Ken was going to become Drag Queen Ken. DQK came to the mall with us. (That was embarassing.)

After the mall, Chris and I went to go see his family. We had dinner with his aunt, uncle (the best man) and their kids (the ring bearers). Both his aunt and uncle realized that i was under and extreme amount of "Bride Stress" and happily provided me with martinis. I needed them.

The next morning, the house abuzz with activity. The shower started at 11 and Mary showed up at about 9. Chris's mom and Claudia came shortly after and everyone got to work putting together the goody bags (see picture above). Then Megan did my hair and I got dressed. Mom and the rest of the girls left to go set up the room and told me I should arrive at about 11:30.

All of the husbands were invited to come to my parents house during the shower, so I got to see my uncles. I think they all noticed my "Bride Stress"...

(Note about Bride Stress: I was very surprised to notice that I was experiencing it. I think it's mostly that this is the only time in my life that I get to be the "Bride" and that's a lot of pressure. I want to make sure that I do it right and live up to everyone's "Bride" expectations. I'm finding that difficult and I want to make sure that I do it right. I feel like Carrie on Sex and the City when she says that she doesn't have the bride gene)

To be continued.

Okay, so I walk into the lobby and my cousins were waiting for me to escort me in. One cousin ran ahead and said that I was here and my other cousin walked me in.

I walk in and was immediately overwhelmed. There were A LOT of people there. Mom, Caryn and Gram all pinned my corsage on me. I started to walk around and greet everyone. (Have I mentioned that there were a lot of people there?) I told my mom's friend that I was really overwhelmed.

After I greeted everyone (including some special dis brides!) it was time to eat. We had an assortment of breakfast food and I think some other lunchy items... There was also a mimosa fountain. I was very excited about the fountain. After we ate we did gifts. The invitations said to ship the gifts to our house and bring a picture of the gift to the shower. That worked out great! One of my friends printed out her pictures and had them all wrapped up in a gift bag complete with tissue paper! This was something I was a little concerned about. I've been to showers where it takes an hour to load the gifts in the car and I had no idea how we were going to get them home!!! This way, I still got to unwrap things, but I didn't have to worry about putting a knife set on the plane.

After presents we had cake (good cake. chocolate) Then Chris came to say hi to everyone and that was it. It was a very nice shower. There were no games (per my demand) and I think everyone had a nice time. We went back to the house and organized everything. That night we had dinner with Chris's friend and OMG was I TIRED!!! I never realized how DRAINED I was going to be after the shower.

We left (with Caryn and Mark) the next day. We had a nice time in NJ, but we were so happy to be back at our house. It's also neat to realize that the next time we see our families it will be for the wedding.

PS. One year ago today I started this PJ. I can't believe how fast this year has gone. Everyone says it will fly by and it does.

hello all - I haven't posted in a while because it has been my job to plan the bridal shower and I didn't want to give away too many details. Lindsay knew about the shower already but there were some things that I wanted to keep a secret. For example, eacch invitation came with a recipe card and each person was asked to send "best dishes" to lindsay and chris - everyone participated and they got some great recipies like "Ruthie's Peppy Beet Salad". Lindsays soon to be sister in law bought an address book so that everyone there would be able to write their address and lindsay can keep in touch with everyone. Caryn made a great guest book wtih Lindsay and chris' engagement photos that everyone was able to sign. The gift bags were filled with "Lindsay Gardens Tea" and Canolis from the bakery up the street (Lindsays favorite)! All in all it was a nice day - from the get go we wanted everyone to send their gifts down to Lindsay's house so that they wouldnt have to worry about bringing them home themselves. I was so happy to see that everyone followed directions and printed pictures of their gifts and put it in the card. It made it so much easier for Lindsay and Chris and goodness did it save time!! I think lindsay was happy about that too.

All in all it was a lovely shower. The food was great - LOVED the mimosa fountain!!! Caryn and I had a FABU time with that one although caryn kept stealing my mimosa. Ill be sure to post pictures when I get them on the computer. As of today, I have the flu!!! yes folks, the doc stuck a swab up my nose and told me I have the flu - so as soon as I am better, Ill post pics.. Lindsay, you looked lovely at your shower. Great outfit, too. Megan did a terrific job planning the event. You have 2 wonderful sisters. Speaking of which, you MUST stop calling Caryn a "weirdo." We all know my daughter-in-law is perfect! And her taste is impeccable - she married my son Mark, that proves it.:woohoo: BTW, your cat wasn't afraid you would punish her. She was completely p.o.'d at you for locking her in the garage and didn't want you touching her. It's a cat thing.:rotfl2:

Caryn, does the above comment about you make me "mother-in-law of the year?" I want a sash saying so and maybe one of those aisle runners to walk on when I accept my crown. Just knock them out in your spare time before the wedding.

Counting the days until the wedding. Of course that' partly because of the cruise we'll be on the week before. They'll pour us off the ship the morning of the wedding, and we'll come tottering in to see you and Chris (he is SUCH a sweetie!) wed.

Love,
Nana Katz

Oh my gosh Lindsay, I just want to say that everything looks beautiful. I was reading Lurkyloo's PJ and TR about her wedding which lead me to Caryn's PJ and TR about her wedding and then I couldn't resist getting into yours!!!!:surfweb:
I got married almost 2 years ago. We also did a destination wedding...we did Vegas. :thumbsup2It was stressful thinking about getting everyone and everything there safely.:scared: You have nothing to worry about. You will be b-e-a-utiful on your wedding day.:bride: Just keep in mind these last few days (before you totally loose your mind to "Bride Stress":headache:) that you are marrying the man of your dreams, he loves you no matter what, and you have a wonderful support system with caryn, meg, drjayne, nana katz and the rest of your family and friends.:grouphug: Just keep that in mind and hopefully that will help you not stress as much. Take in as much as you can and don't get too stressed to where you can't see the love of your life in front of you.(it's suppose to be Chris looking at you:rotfl2:) I can't wait to hear more!!

Some quick updates and then a TR of what we did for my "bachelorette" weekend.

First: We got the crystals for the cake in. They are BEAUTIFUL. We bought ribbon to go behind the crystals. I also got a purse and a shawl for the wedding. I couldn't find a white or ivory purse/shawl so I went with watermelon. I figure that this way, I'll get to use them again.

These are the crystals

Okay, now on to the weekend! When we got engaged Chris and his uncle decided that they were going to go to Montreal for a weekend for his bachelor party. I'm not a "go out and party and drink till I puke" kind of girl and a typical bachelorette party wasn't for me. Caryn, Megan and I decided that we would go to Houston to see Caryn and Mark and go to Nasa and see their resturant.
Caryn had a wonderful time at Nasa. Here are some pictures of Caryn having fun at Nasa.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s131/lindsayacraig/IMG_0271.jpg

We also did some work on the "new" veil. (Caryn decided that the original veil fabric didn't match my dress)

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s131/lindsayacraig/IMG_0262.jpg

Martini liked the new veil
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s131/lindsayacraig/IMG_0261.jpg

I had a lovely and relaxing time with my sisters... we also watched the Twilight movie. Caryn liked it a lot. I wasn't so in love with it.

I just placed my deposit for Keepsake Floral!!

I'm going to get a jewelry box because Chris doesn't like the picture frames. I also think I'm going to get some Christmas ornaments like Vanessa (figment fan) had.

So far all we have left to do is:
Finish the bridal party t-shirts
Finish buying bridal party gifts
Set up favors
Complete seating chart
Buy water bottles for welcome bags
Fill welcome bags
Get park maps for welcome bags
Make CD of music for ceremony

Caryn needs to:
Finish menus
Create guest book cards
Make place cards when I send her the seating chart
Finish my veil
Mail me everything

(I thought this list would be much shorter)

Your list isn't too bad (esp. since for part of it you just have to get after Caryn...) ;)

You will get it done, you just have to make it a point to. Try and do some of the easier things first (water bottles, BP gifts) and then you can check them off and it won't look so long and you won't feel as stressed over it! :goodvibes:

Don't worry you'll quickly start marking things off the list. One piece of advice, I kept putting off the music thinking it was no big deal and ended up downloading and it burning our disc at like 1 am the night before we left. No clue why, but it never clicked that music was a priority until that point; I was so worried about our bags, favors, etc.

It looks like you had fun in Houston even if NASA wasn't that exciting :goodvibes

Just wanted to say, I have never wanted a sister in all my 27 years...but after reading your PJ (and Caryn's, too!), I think this wedding planning business would be a lot more entertaining with some sisterly sass injected into it!

Me too! I'm so ready for the day to be here!

So far we have:
Mailed the crystals, ribbon and lace from Mom's dress to Laura. (The lace is going around my bouquet stem)

We have started stuffing the welcome bags (we still need to buy water and snacks)

We wrapped all of the bridal party gifts that we have so far (still need to buy a few more things, but they don't need to be wrapped)

Almost finished the bridal party shirts (still need to do the mom's and the kids)

Sent the table arrangements to Caryn

Started compiling boxes of stuff that needs to come with us to the wedding

Still need to:
Put together favors.
Finish buying bridal party stuff
Get water and snacks
Print out welcome letter
Do the music
Probably a zillion other things I forgot... edited to add: print out door hangers. I designed them yesterday
edited again to add: we're going tomorrow for our marriage license

I can't believe how close we are already! Our family starts arriving next week. How weird. We're really good on projects so far.
Door hangers are done
I've started the favors
I've made a playlist of songs that I have to burn to a cd.

This week(end) we are going to finish the favors
Organize everything into rehersal, ceremony and reception

I apologize for being a bad disbride and not posting any pictures... my camera battery died and I have recharged it.
I have pikz of the bridal party shirts and the door hangers....

Any ideas how Caryn should wear her hair? I think corn rollz would super klassy! Or maybe she should do her hair like Hannah Montana!

Btw, your menus kind of look like tampons.

How's Cordy's fever? Is her poor little head still warm?

thank you all for the compliments! i'm almost done with all of the wedding crafts...i am 90% done with the veil, i'm deciding whether or not to re-inforce to rhinestones i put on there, i finished the mini picture frame of the cat. i made 2 for lindsay to choose from with that...the menu's and programs are done and packed in a box, along with the aisle runner. my next project is making a dvd slide show in keynote for the bus rides...i have like 250 pictures to fit on there, so that should be interesting. i need mark to help me with that...

shaylih-thanks for the menu compliment. i find that i'm a fan of tampons, no matter what color they are! i have a "special" hair style all picked out for the big day...stay tuned to see what it looks like. it's got klass...

I LOVE this PJ

There's never a dull moment over here!!

Some small updates:
I have made the final payment to Randy and we had a quick call about the wedding day schedule. I told him that under no circumstances would we have staircase shots at the grand. I hate that carpet.

Chris finally made copies of the welcome letter and bought water bottles for the welcome bags. We're going to finish stuffing them this week.

The plan for the weekend is: Finish the favors, organize everything (a box for ceremony, a box for reception, etc) clean out my car so that we can fit everything in, pack, type up all reservations times confirmation #s etc onto one spreadsheet and make several copies, try not to stress. (i think wine will play a large roll in trying not to stress)

I totally agree; I didn't want any on the stairs either :rotfl: The only shots inside the GF that we even took were by the piano (since I play piano myself).

Definitely try not to stress (I know easier said than done) this weekend. My regret is that I wish I would have relaxed and enjoyed the last week or so before the wedding, so here's hoping you get to kick back some yourself :wizard:

Sounds like you have a great plan! I love the GF, but I agree the carpet needs to go. I thought they were putting in marble floors? I guess that got put on hold with the sucko economy.

I agree with Vanessa, try not to stress too much. Everything is going to be great and come together perfectly. If it dosen't, none of your guests will know!

Thanks girls!! Everything was just beautiful and I couldn't have been happier!!

Vendor reviews: Vendor reviews REALLY helped me a lot during my planning. I relied on them so I am going to be as detailed as possible and as honest as possible. Also, I won't be giving grades... they never helped me... (what's the difference between A+ and A+++???)

Joe- Sales Consultant:
Joe was great. Super friendly and understanding. Joe was great at helping us pick locations and times. When I flipped out over a rain location Joe was able to send us several different alternatives to our original choices. He always answered his emails in a timely manner. Yay Joe!

Diane-Wedding Planner:
I cannot say enough good things about Diane. She was incredibly helpful throughout our entire planning process. She was super easy to get in touch with and offered several different ideas to keep our costs down. (Such as having waiters pass beer and wine during cocktail hour so that we wouldn't have to pay for an extra bar hour) She helped stress the importance of sticking to the schedule on wedding day. When we had a mix up with the flowers, she was right there to fix it. I will say this: I loved Diane because she was 100% business. She wasn't there to be a cheerleader for my wedding, she was there to run the show and make sure it ran smoothly. She did just that. If you are expecting someone to gush over you, or your flowers, or whatever else, she won't do that. Diane was perfect and we have absolutely no complaints at all.

Laura Kidd-Disney Floral:
Laura was great! My bouquet was AMAZING. It was EXACTLY how I pictured it. Once I get my pictures back, I'll post my inspiration pic and then the actual bouquet. The girls flowers were amazing. She originally had flower balls with spray roses, hydrangeas and something else and they came out to like $150 each. I asked her what we could do to lower the price and she suggested carnations. I flipped out. (If you watch Sex and the City, you will know that they are filler flowers). She sent me pictures of carnations that were beautiful and you could not tell that they were carnations. She also added some pink gerbera daisies. The handles were these super fun black crystals. There were apparently some problems with the flower balls and they had to be fixed before the ceremony which caused us to start a little bit late. (I'm not really sure but I think the crystals fell out from some and some of the flowers popped out... but I wasn't actually told what the problem was, so I'm not 100% sure) Laura was not always super easy to get in touch with. I almost always had to follow up on my emails several times before I got a response. Also, changes to my BEO took a long time and I had to make sure to read them carefully because I did find a few mistakes. (Satin napkins instead of regular ones) This was frustrating, but her final product was simply amazing so I can't complain.

Randy Chapman- Photog:
We all know how great Randy's work is. He was excellent at making everyone feel at ease and he took TONS of pictures. He also worked with Diane to make sure that we could sneak out of our reception to take pictures in France (where we got engaged). The only negative thing I can say about Randy is that it's hard to get in touch with him. He and Linda really need a secretary. I'll be able to give further review once my pics are in.

Beaute Speciale- Hair and Makeup:
I have to say that I wasn't overjoyed by them. First, I wasn't told that Anna wouldn't be coming. It was fine that she sent someone else, but I would have liked if they said when we called to confirm "Lily and the other girl will be there at x time". There was one girl who didn't introduce herself. I don't know what her name was. She did a lovely job on everyone's hair. All of the girls looked great. Lily did my hair and makeup. My makeup was beautiful. I told her I wanted to look natural and I did. My hair however, was another story... I showed her a picture and then she did my hair and I had her make a few changes. My tiara was too far back on my head, the poof wasn't high enough and the front pieces were very flat. It looked like she put it up in a bun and then plopped my tiara on top, which was NOT the look I was going for. Caryn and Mary had to step in and help out with my hair because I was getting very upset and not expressing what I wanted. In the end, my hair was exactly what I wanted, I just wish I didn't have the stress of having to do it over twice.

Grand Floridian Cafe- Lunch for 15 and Breakfast for 30
My parents hosted the breakfast and we only popped in for a minute, so I can't really comment on that. We made lunch reservations for Sat afternoon. Everything was lovely. I was REALLY stressed out on Sat and I asked the waiter if someone could make me a grilled cheese and he very kindly let me have the kids grilled cheese. It was close to all of the wedding stuff which is why we chose it.

Grand Floridian Spa-
Chris and I both got mani/pedis there immediately following the rehearsal. They were lovely. 4 days later my manicure is still intact and my pedi looks great. We're both really pleased that we did this. We were really stressed out after the rehearsal and it was nice to be able to stop and take a few hourse for ourselves.

Tokyo Dining- Japan Rehearsal Dinner
This was another place that really went above and beyond. When we decided to book Japan for the rehearsal we went in and talked to the manager. This was during the time when no one was sure if ressies could be made 6 months out. She called us periodically to tell us that she still hadn't been able to make our ressie, but she'd let us know. When our three month mark hit, we made ressie's but accidentally did them for Teppan Edo. She called us up to let us know that she fixed them. The day of the rehersal dinner, she called us up to confirm how many people and just make sure we were all set to go. Everyone really enjoyed dinner there (I think, if they didn't no one told me) and it seemed very special.

Ohana Breakfast-
We had 20 people for breakfast. I love Ohana. I love their breakfast. There were a few things I didn't love. The waiter ignored me. He didn't ignore our table, but he ignored me. The picture that was taken of our group went to the opposite end of the table, I had to walk over there and get it. Now, we did have a family with two young kids sitting down there (they were part of our party) but we booked it as the Craig/Hrabar rehearsal and I was wearing my ears and a bride shirt. I had to call him over several times and I wasn't overjoyed by that.

awww lin - Ross and I LOVED the rehearsal dinner - it was fabu!!!!! I don't think that there was anyone that didn't like it. Especially when they sang Happy Birthday in Japanese.

The hair and makeup ladies were great but I agree that the one girl should have introduced herself - she did such a great job on everyone's hair - i wish we knew her name (if anyone kows her .. shes the one that is Asian and Scottish - I asked her).

All in all Lin - I thought it was a beautiful wedding (Ross won't stop talking about it). Everything was beautiful and I'm sure it will be a day you won't forget.

i'll add onto the GF cafe breakfast...

it was OK, there were several things that went wrong; hair in food, things not coming out on time or at all and then the plates coming out looking different or having different things on them (including toast with one, but not the other, different mixed fruit on each plate etc). they lost my parents reservation and there was some drama finding it. when they originally booked the breakfast, they were given a menu and then the menu (along with pricing) changed drastically. i know that pricing is subject to change, but it would have been nice if they had let my dad know, since he made the reservation for 30 months prior.

I agree with Caryn on the breakfast - it was OK - the food was good but very pricey - they lost the reservation that my dad made forever ago and then they pulled some things off of the regular menu (all of the wrong things) to cover it all up - The servers were VERY nice and friendly - but I would say from start to finish (from when my dad try to book the place like a year ago) to the actual meal .. I would describe it as "ehhhh" -

Dad says while I am typing this that "they only thing that really bothered me was that the menu was completely different than it was when we booked it"

Funny that you mention lost reservations. I think Lynn5700 had the same problem last year for her post-Escape lunch. They showed up and were told by GFC they didn't have a rez. Luckily it got straightened out, but no exactly the stress you want on your wedding day. She also got a lot misinformation and flack from the manager about custom menus. All in all, it seemed very stressful.

Based on all I've read, it doesn't seem like GFC ranks too highly in the customer service department. :confused3

BUT...I'm glad you guys had such a fantastic trip/wedding and you didn't let it affect your weekend. :) Congrats again, Lindsay! :woohoo:

To be honest with you... I'm not entirely surprised by this. I have never once heard something good about Linda at the Grand and that is who my dad had to work with.

I have just emailed my Dad to get the whole story and he said that he went the day before to check his reservation and they didn't have it. So he explained that he made the reservation months ago with Linda and that they should have it and they needed to fix it. Apparently they called him while he was at the rehearsal and told him that they had everything figured out and everything was fine. So at least it wasn't the day of the breakfast that they were having this problem. I've asked him to outline everything that went wrong because I am going to send them an email.

The Day Before We Leave
Wed 4/22

Both Chris and I had to work this day. Chris had a half day but wanted to stay a little later and get his classroom and lesson plans all set up. I had planned to leave work a little early, but that didn't actually happen as well as I would have liked.

I finally got home around 6 and Chris was there and I started to get everything packed together and ready to be put in the car. When we started buying things for the welcome bags, we thought it would be a great idea to assemble them before we got to Disney. Yeah. Not so great. It saved us time once we got there, which was good, but they took up a TON of room in the car, which was not good.

We had two big boxes of stuff for Diane, my dress, my crinnie and hoop skirt, a box with the aisle runner, a box with my veil, 50 welcome bags, my suitcase, chris's backpack, two boxes with bridal party gifts and a bag of toiletries. We packed everything into the car and this is how it looked.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s131/lindsayacraig/wedding/IMG_0327.jpg

We walked inside and saw the box with the bridal party gifts.:headache: We had no idea where we were going to put them.... It was decided that since I had to work the next day, Chris would figure it out.

I double checked the house to make sure that we weren't forgetting anything and I put our GF confirmation and our marriage license in my purse so that we wouldn't forget/lose them.

Thursday 4/23

I had to work a half day on Thursday (my work vacation is really weird. I get three weeks, but I need to take two weeks in a row so it only gives me a week to play with... kinda annoying. Chris couldn't take that much time off of school, so we decided that I'd take a few days off for the wedding and then we'd do a honeymoon over the summer) The plan was that Chris would take the car and drop me off at work. Then he'd go to school and make sure that everything was set up with his sub, then he'd go to the gym, finish packing the car, get the rings cleaned and pick me up.

I have to say that the best thing I could have done was go to work. I know that sounds weird, I hate my job, but it was a really good distraction and I liked knowing that I could get all of my work ducks in a row before I left for a few days. I got slammed at about 11, so I quickly made my "last single girl post" and got as much done as I could. I left work with a lot of "good luck's" and "congratulations". Then I walked out to the car... The whole car was still packed and Chris had to add a few more things. There was literally not enough room for me to sit. There was a box on floor where my feet should have been and I needed to have a box on my lap. :crowded: I ended up sitting indian style on the front seat with a box on top of my legs. (I apologize for the lack of pictures of this. It was pretty amusing and REALLY uncomfortable) We get on I4 at exit 9. By the time we got to exit 32 I couldn't feel my leg at all. So we stopped and got out of the car. Chris decided that since my legs are longer, I'd drive and he'd be squished in the passenger seat. I re-arranged some things so that he could put his feet down and we were on our way. Al half hour later we arrived at the Grand.

When we got there I explained to the security lady that we were moving in and we headed over to the valet place. I thought the bell hop was going to faint when he saw our car... We left the two big boxes for Diane and the welcome bags in the car since we had to drop them off elsewhere, everything else came out our bell cart. We went to check in and I was REALLY hoping to be upgraded to a suite. We weren't upgraded to a suite, but we were upgraded to a king sized bed, which was nice. We had to wait a little while for our room to get ready so we went to Gasparilla's to have lunch. Chris had some wrap thing that he loved.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s131/lindsayacraig/wedding/IMG_0329.jpg

We called our parents to see where they were. My parents had just rented their car and were driving, Chris's mother was just checking into Coronado. We told them that we were going to get into our room and then go over. We walked around the resort for a little while, went to the WP and to check out the gym and finally we were able to get to our room. I expected a little more from our room. I think I had built up the Grand in my head so much that I expected a lot more. Don't get me wrong... the room was lovely, the balcony was lovely, the view was lovely. But it was a smaller than I expected. We checked in and started to unpack.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s131/lindsayacraig/wedding/IMG_0331.jpg

We heard from my parents who had checked in already and we hopped in the car to go visit them and drop off the welcome bags. We brought all of the bags upstairs to my parents room and Dad put directions to their breakfast in the family bags and we delivered the bags to the front desk.

Chris and I went to meet his family who were at the pool and we dropped bags off to them. We answered some questions about where they needed to be and when and planned out how they were going to get to the tux shop the next day. We finally left Coronado at about 6 and went to All Star to drop off the remainder of the welcome bags.

We got back to the Grand and went to the Grand Floridian Cafe for a quick dinner (I think Chris had salmon and I had soup... I don't remember though and I was tired...) We went back to the room and watched Grey's and went to bed.
