We took the plunge!! We went to Disney Doorway to Dreams this weekend and signed up as AKL members. We had visited this store in Nov 2007 and had heard the whole sales pitch from Diane (who is wonderful, not pushy at all). For many reasons, we decided not to join and kept our reservations for PopCentury. We just got back from our trip Feb 3-9th and the minute we got home, we decided that this was the route we wanted to go. We have 4 children and realize the value line is not going to work for our family. We had a fabulous time and the weather was incredible, but there is so much more we want in a vacation. Our family time is precious and we decided to invest in those memories and could not be more excited!! We are already trying to plan out first trip with our 270 developer points!! Will we be able to get into Vero Beach this summer??

Welcome Home, AKV neighbors!
Availability at VB will be very sketchy for this summer. Call tomorrow and see what's available. Maybe if you're flexible something will work!

Dooway to Dreams is the Vacation Club store in Schaumburg, ILat Woodfield Mall. I believe it is the only one like it. It actually has the AKV 2 bedroom layout in the store. Our kids even got to play in supervised area while we did all paperwork.

The Store she is talking about is in Chicago... DoorWay To Dreams in the Woodfield shopping mall. They have a sales office and Demo rooms there for people to look at.
to the OP... YAY! We are a family of 5, and I can not even begin to tell you how wonderful DVC has been for us. The full kitchen and washer and dryer HEAVEN with little kids. It's so nice to not have to worry about whether we will get two connecting rooms...
ENJOY!!

Is this the place that offers better incentives than DVC direct? I heard you get better incentives someplace in IL and on a Disney cruise. Is that right? Just curious what the incentives were for your purchase.

We were just there on Saturday and joined on as well. AKV!!!!!
That room was great for the kids and the model rooms were awesome.
Now just waiting for the final paperwork. I hope to call MS today sometime and get going with a reservation. The 270 points are such a bonus.
Just curious? What UY did you receive....August?
Sounds strange for me to use this phrase being so new but
WELCOME HOME

Marc A,
Our use year is December. We got 270 developer points, and $8 off per point, and then we took the $500 gift card instead of the 2 annual passes. Where are you going to go with your bonus points?

We received the same. We are hoping to go to the Contemporary but when I called today the MS said that we had to wait for 7 mths out to do so with incentive points. I didn't think this was correct and will call back tomorrow for sure. What do you remember them telling you about the Dev. Points????

Yes, you do have to wait 7 months out for the developer points. I put in an email request today, so I am waiting to hear what is available.:lovestruc

See I heard that as long as it is a non DVC resort you are looking to book at you could use them. Not sure

Welcome home, get use to hearing that and it sounds so nice when you arrive. We used our DVC for the first time and I wish I had bought sooner. We just loved all the room we had instead of being on top of one another in previous stays.
