I will be staying at this resort for the first time and I am wondering how other solos have felt there? As a woman, do you think I should request a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor for some hint of extra safety? I always wonder if ground floor rooms are less secure?
On my last solo trip I stayed at POP and ended up with a 2nd floor room. Maybe I'm getting more leery the older I get (haha), but I don't recall even thinking about this 2 years ago when I last solo'ed. For the record, I never felt uneasy in WDW alone. But maybe since I have never stayed in this particular resort before, I'm a little wary?
TIA!

POFQ is a great place for solo.. its not crowded at all .Id feel safer on the ground floor, if you ever did have to run from someone you do not want to be trying to negotiate stairs.

Good point! I don't want to twist an ankle with all of that walking I'll be doing :cool1:

i went to POFQ solo and too was worried about a ground floor room so i requested the 2nd or 3rd floor. i was given a 3rd flr room. when i got there i was a little concerned at first about the distance to get to the room and how dark it was at some times returning from the park but i felt totally safe. in fact, in the day, i found the quickest routes to everything and it wasn't a problem. the size of the resort was very conducive to a solo stay.

I stayed at POFQ in December, for my first solo trip-ground floor room. It was a wonderful resort and I never felt unsafe. I walked to the laundry room at night, without hesitation-have fun........

have a good time - steps at Disney generally aren't hard to climb at all.
would go for the second floor - remember no balcony here - so expect other guests to walk by your room.
one reason I go high as possible - less others walking by.

When I go solo and stay at a deluxe resort, I request an upper floor. (The balcony/patio on the first floor makes me nervous.) However, when I stay at a value or moderate where is no balcony, it doesn't matter which floor I'm on. Anyone can climb the stairs, so IMHO the first floor is as safe (or as vulnerable) as the third.

Thanks to all! I think I will probably shoot for a 2nd or 3rd floor room in the hopes that there will be less foot traffic (good point, for those of you who mentioned it).
But I really do feel 100% better now that I've had all of your input. Thanks so much! :thumbsup2

I was at POFQ for my 2006 solo trip. No, you should not be worried anymore than you are in your everyday life. I stayed in Building 1 – one of the buildings furthest from the main building - on the 3rd floor. I never once was concerned about my safety. In fact, I usually stayed at the parks until closing and then would go back to POFQ and walk up and down the river, obviously alone, late, late at night for about 30 minutes or so to unwind and never once felt unsafe.

now that is a good plan to unwind - generally I turn on the TV - but exercise works much better.:)

I stayed at POFQ also on my solo trip. It is such a small resort there was no reason to ever feel unsafe there.

I stayed at POFQ this past October for just one night. I had a ground floor room. I was impressed because the door had 3 locks on it. (I'm pretty sure). It seemed like it would be very difficult for anyone to get through the locks. I'm always nervous, no matter where I stay but I felt pretty good there.

I'll be at POFQ solo in May. Glad to read this thread. Thanks!
I tend to ask for an upper floor when I travel solo. Fewer people have reason to pass my door = less temptation.
Or so I like to think! *LOL*
It's probably just a matter of perception. :)
