We're getting ready to head to MCO for our return to winter, but enjoyed our usual last nite dinner at CA Grille last night.
Construction has really progressed at the CR with the 7th floor finished, the 8th floor done on the north side (being finished on the south side) and the 9th floor beginning on the north side.
You can easily see the entrance area (large open area at ground level towards the MK and the bus stop area is also evident now.
They also have two of the support columns for the 4th floor walkway completed and are working on the third already.
We'll be home ( :( ) early this afternoon and I'll get some photos posted later today. I was able to get several from both the 4th and 15th floor observation decks.

Wow! They're really making progress. When I left on Jan. 27th they had just started the 7th floor. Thanks for the update. I was taking pictures everyday. I guess I was hoping that the construction ferries would magically have more done overnight.:rotfl:

Here are some photos taken this week of the AKV construction. These were again taken from the Orange Lake parking area (near Publix) thru the construction base and some from Rt 192. (Click on an image for a larger view.)

For those who have not been in the CA Grille - these are from the Wine Room - a limited seating area with a great view of Bay Lake. There is another observation deck near this area, looking toward Epcot, WL, Studios, AK and beyond. The Wine Room only has about 8 tables and tends to be much quieter than the general area. In the last photo, note the CR construction visible thru the window from our table. (Again, click on any image for a larger view)

Many of the rooms in the new construction will have great pamoramic views of the surrounding area. It appears that about 1/3 may have a MK view.

Thank you for the photos. It really looks like they are making progress. I didn't realize how much you can see from the Contemporary. We stayed in the tower a few years ago, with a view of MK. Never even thought to look and see what the view was on the other side!

I was just watching some new pictures they have of the contemporary lobby at allearsnet and was thinking that the decor of that hotel is just my taste. My house is decorated in a contemporary-european style, and when I saw the pictures of the bedrooms (the regular ones), I said to myself, I can most certainly call this place home. I don't really care much about the turn-of-the century styles of most of Disney resorts, but if this is a reality, I think I'm going to convince DH (who LOVES the boardwalk) that we need to add-on big time.
So add me up to the CRV wish club  .
(Hey disney guys, are you reading this? Anounce the thing already before I spend the money in some other no-dvc thing)

:rotfl2: :thumbsup2 HOW TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;) Disney may be thinking all this secrecy will make it even more desirable? For some, it may just do the opposite.

this is worrying - thought that it would use CR bus stop and check in area - sounds like it will have it own.
that doesn't sound like DVC? although I know when Kidani opens at AKV it will have it own check in - but I though it was because it is so far from Jambo.
It almost sounds like a new hotel :scared1:
wanna it to be a DVC:tinker: :smickey: :tink:

I don't think it can be reserved as such, but you can request it when you get to the restaurant (just like you can request a window table). We've enjoyed that area as a nice change of pace from the MK side of the restaurant.
Sat. nite, the Wine Room never filled up while we were there, but all of the other tables were filled. They may use that area as an overflow area, but we've really enjoyed it.
this is worrying - thought that it would use CR bus stop and check in area - sounds like it will have it own.
It would be a fairly long walk from that building to the CR bus stop (about 100 yards) without putting up a covered walkway and you sure don't want to have to go to the 4th floor, walk across to the CR and then down to the 1st floor just to get to the bus stop. It makes good sense to me to have a bus stop dedicated to that building and it's a natural stop for a bus already in the CR complex.
Time will tell! :)

Well, considering these particular photos were taken about 5:00pm on a Saturday nite, how many workers do you really expect to see?
The AKV photos were taken about 4pm on a Sunday.
I've taken photos during the week many times over the years and there is never any shortage of construction workers.

WoL is the Wonders of Life pavillion at Epcot - closed now, but occasionally used for special programs (like Food & Wine inthe fall).
ToL is the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom. The construction cranes for Kidani Village can also be seen behind ToL in that photo.

It's located between Energy and Mission Space. It has the Body Wars attraction, Cranium Command movie and "The Making of Me" movie. F&W used it this fall (for the first time) as headquarters for the event, there was a wine store in there, all of the wine seminars were there and DVC had a HUGE exhibit for AKV and had a continuous DVC movie much of the day.
In the photo it's the structure with the golden roof to the left of SE.

16 floors - one more than CR - but the top 2 floors were surpose to be GV. Someone else say that is now changed to a restuarant.

Liznboys...you and I were apparently there at the same time. :lmao: I took pictures of a loaded crane too. And with Doc's pictures, it looks like there are MORE work crews, as they're now putting insulation on the outside, and working on secondary parts of the resort too.
For anyone who has tried to make ressies for the tower, it is very hard to do. The "CRV" will be very popular, IMHO. And they could have several view categories like AKV.
