was contemplating aboutt ickets for my mom... since I have an AP... I counted all my one day pass from previous dining packages.. and I manage to come up with 8 base days...

OH, please............. we have been crossing our fingers for a BCV studio for the night of 12/12 (Friday) to keep from having to move over to VWL that night.

We have been waitlisted since the day that SW came out with rates in June and the flight time on our original departure date would have made us leaving at 3:30 am on the ME. So we decided to add one more night to get a better flight time home on Sat 12/13.

I guess I learned my lesson to book an extra day. I had originally booked our stay in January but failed to think about SW changing flight times.

Since the waitlist is only for 1 night, we still have hope. I can handle the move easier than my mom, who is 80 years old.

They had no cash discounts or AP rates available either.

Unfortunately, there wasn't anything open for a studio or 1 bedroom. Oh well, the waiting continues.

I called today too. I am waiting for a 2br at BCV, BWV, WLV or AKV from 12/18-12/25. I currently have a 1BR at BCV and a studio for my mom at SSR.

I hate that I had to waitlist it for the entire timeframe, rather than day by day. I am willing to move resorts, if we could string a few days together, but it is looking less and less likely. For a 2BR, they only has single days available at OKW & BWV on the 19th and BCV on the 20th.

The member services guy I talked too, said best bet of it opening up is just shy of the 31 day window, because people will cancel to avoid points going into the holding account. So, I am going to wait patiently until mid-November and then call again.

Thanks! I'm getting excited that I've been able to piece together a trip relatively last minute for the holidays. Although I am wondering about the waitlist and how well it works.

I was very excited to get our extra BWV night but I've been on the waitlist for a studio at VWL for the 23rd for 1 night and when I just called to check on something else, I happened to ask and was able to get a studio for the 23rd. I was also able to snag the 22nd in a 1br std at BWV on the 22nd. What is going on at the BWV? Lots of cancellations perhaps.

Only one more waitlisted night to hope for and we at least have it already at a DVC discounted rate so we do have a room either way. Pixie dust to all of you still waiting!

People seem to be having success with frequent calling and taking any of the days as they become available. Then the run of days is less to match, and although it's not quite day by day, it has worked.

I think that is the problem for me. I made my wait list for the entire stay and by the time I realized at that time of year, day by day would be a better option they had changed the booking rules to the entire stay, so I could not change it. Oh well, live and learn.

why?

DVC owned those SSR pts and had the right to either book and sell the rooms to cash customers or give them to new AKV purchasers as an incentive. it's not like they are creating SSR pts out of thin air.

OTOH, SSR is a large resort that should have some guaranteed booking categories that improve the owners' opportunities to book what they want, so make sure you've read this link. (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1483974)

I will add that I think the Developer Points for use at SSR are due to there still being inventory waiting to be sold at SSR, so in effect there is no over useage of points there for members to lose out to. Also we found Grandstand to be a very nice area with it’s own pool and pool bar and would certainly like to stay there again, plus it is the newest area.

Suggesting people get better rooms than others for whatever reason is all subjective really as to what that individual person wants and expects.

BTW just rang re Dec 7th at AKV still nothing in any room type!

ehhh...none of the "sold out" resorts is really completely "sold out." if there are a lot of SSR resales currently available, you can bet DVC is also foreclosing on a number of SSR contracts in this economic environment...

talked to a guy in work yesterday. He just bought points for AKV. He wanted to get rid of his ssr contract, but disney will not buy it back. I told him where to go for resale.

yeah, if disney thought they could easily resell those SSR pts at $104, they might have offered $50-55 as they have done for some BCV owners. disney might still decide to ROFR the pts if someone makes a lowball offer to your friend, but i'm sure they'd rather not have to take them back...

We waitlisted for a one bedroom anywhere for dates of Nov 24-29 starting on October 18. I called day by day and kept booking one day here and there and finally after one week it came through at SSR. We added on to our trip which was orginally Nov 29- Dec 7. We have that ressie at BWV in a 1 br boardwalk view. I am hoping to get a few more nights at BWV in the same view starting with the 29 of November and backing up. So far no luck there. But at least the added on stay is in one room for 5 nights straight.

I've got a Christmas Day Boma ADR that I will need to cancel if the wait list doesn't come through. I would hate to cancel the ADR if my wait list comes about but I also hate to tie up that ADR that someone else could use. Right now we're at VWL (I also have a dinner ADR at WC) but really wanted AKV because DS33 has never stayed there before.

I would wait to cancel your ADR. I think if the WL is going to come through it will at around 31 days prior because points will go into a holding account if it is cancelled after that. People are in no hurry to cancel until that point. I'm in the same boat as you looking for a 2br anywhere but SSR 12/18-25 to consolidate our party to the same resort. Good luck!

Nothing-I was looking for a stuido, but just told them anything with a AP rate for BW...they came back with BWV-1brm...but not AP rate applicable(forgot to mention that)...so I booked nothing. I have a YC AP rate, and a WL rack rate ressie that I can patch together with my DVC reservations...but as it stands now I am unpacking 4 times and I will loose 29 points.:eek:

I did have to get a little creative because I was 10 points short in my balance to allow her to book the 2 nights without cancelling SSR first. So I borrowed 10 points from the '09 UY.

Now that put me in a Pool view on 12/3 and then move to a Boardwalk view for 12/4 & 5. I then had her check and there was a Boardwalk view available for 12/3. So she converted my pool view into a Boardwalk view. This will allow me to stay in the same room for all 3 nights. We then updated my waitlists and extended them to 7 days prior. So my current plan is:

12/3-6 BWV, 1 BR, Boardwalk view
12/6-9 SSR, 1 BR
12/9-14 BCV, 1 BR

I still have to move resorts twice instead of once, but, 3 nights at BWV will give me time to check out the resort plus save me from moving on my Candlelight processional day.

Congrats Donald! So glad to see that you got some of your WL. You will love Boardwalk view! Even though we cancelled our trip and waitlist for Dec/Jan, I have been watching this thread and cheering for all of you. I know how obsessive I am about where we stay/eat/what park that this would be driving me CRAZY!!

We thought it would be nice to stay at either of the lodges during the christmas season just once.

I think it would be OK to pick up the tree at SSR. Your name will be on the list of people, and perhaps you'll have to show an ID, but you should get it! I would stay on the waitlist.

You never know, it might come through. The time on the waitlist depends on whether you specified 31 days or 7 days when you went on the W-L--sometimes they don't ask you so you might want to give MS a call just to see.

You really have nothing to lose if you continued to call each day at 7 days or less (after the W-L drops).

Due to in-laws going back on their word, I just cancelled 1 studio for 11/30-12/3 and 1 studio for 11/30-12/2 both at AKV. Hopefully this will be good for someone's waitlist. :)

I had been on a waitlist for a BCV studio for Dec 12 (to add to our prior 5 nights there) and had a studio at VWL booked, which we would have to move for only 1 day.
Since we have lots of plans in Epcot the night of Dec 12, decided yesterday to check availability at BWV --since that would definitely be more convenient than VWL our last night. Yesterday afternoon, there is no studio, but this morning there was----- so we canceled VWL and booked at Boardwalk and are still waitlisted at BCV.
But I do feel a lot better knowing at least we are within walking distance after the CP and Illuminations on that Friday night.
Thanks to whomever canceled at Boardwalk and congratulations to the person who gets the Dec 12th at VWL.

Due to a family medical emergency, I was left with 67 points in my holding account which expire 3/1/09. Since I can only book 60 days in advance, I called 10/15 and wait listed AKV Concierge Studio or 1-BR for 12/6-12/8.

I have been waitlisted for a studio at OKW for December 7-11. I have SSR for those dates and OKW right before and right after. Been waitlisted since the 7 month window opened.

When I asked to either add to the end of the first OKW ressie or the start of the other OKW ressie.... she says "hmmm let me see what I can do":thumbsup2 And she put me on hold for however long the song for Wishes is ;)

When she came back, she told me she tried to get me December 10 but when she went to grab it, it was taken by a waitlist. So someone that had only Dec 10 got their wish today!

I did change the 7th and 10th to single days on the waitlist, so we may be able to piece it all together. She did encourage me to keep calling back. It is tough for me to call during the day because I work, but I will try again.

Still no luck on the December 28-January 2 waitlist, but we decided to add a night onto our trip today. I was calling member services basically just to get on the waitlist for the night of December 23rd for a 1 or 2 bedroom anywhere. I assumed there would be no availability anywhere. The CM I was talking to was telling me how December has been booked up for months and months when all of a sudden he said "wait, it looks like I have a one bedroom garden/pool view at Boardwalk Villas the night of the 23rd." We grabbed it! Now we'll be staying BWV 1 night, SSR 5 nights (paying cash), Vero Beach 4 nights, and then SSR 3 nights. Still waitlisted for those 5 nights on cash. It'll be a lot of moving, but an extra night in Disney World is an extra night in Disney World, right? :yay:

Hi I cancelled 12/9 studio at OKW. My waitlist for any studio 12/6-12/8 got totally messed up by Member Services. I requested any studio at any resort and I found out yesterday they only put me on for BWV! Needless to say I am disappointed since we were put on this waitlist in September. I called to check on it regularly and nothing was said to me that it was only for the one resort and not even OKW to boot to match the 12/9 reservation!:sad1:

Not at all. They even encouraged me to call back several times a day!

United decided to change our return flight out of Orlando and gave us one with a LONG layover. Not great for my 8 month old. So we added another night to our trip and we're now leaving on the 27th. Unfortunately we had to WL VWL for the 26th but did manage to snag a studio at OKW in the meantime. Fingers crossed but we're happy for the extra night! :thumbsup2

I have a one bedroom but we'd prefer the extra space of a 2 bedroom for the 5 of us (we move to VWL on 12/3, just wanted the kids to have one night at AKV). I was told my waitlist expired, even though it was supposed to be active until 7 days before. I give up, it doesn't seem to pay to add the waitlist back at this point as I assume that after many months of waiting, I'd be back at the end of the line. :mad:

I'm waitlisted at OKW for a 1BR 12/29 to 1/2 which was made at the 7 month window.

I currently have a reservation for a 1BR at OKW from 1/2 to 1/10 and need the 4 days at the beginning of our trip.

Today, I called and asked for any availability anywhere in a 1 or 2 BR. He said a few resorts had a day here or there, but I think he said that only AKL was completely booked. I ended up getting a reservation for the night of 1/1 at BCV and I waitlisted for the first 3 days at BCV too. If none of the waitlists come throught, I have a reservation at the Dolphin for those first 3 nights.

I definitely don't care for this waitlist system. I'm sure there's someone out there who needs that day as part of a pending waitlist, and it just doesn't seem right that me or anyone else can just call and grab a day like that. I wish they'd go back to the old way, where days were added as they became available.

Just got off the phone w/MS to check on a 2br VWF from 12/23-12/26. We are currently on a waitlist for the 3 nights but I've been checking to see if any of the individual nights were available. They had the nights of the 23rd and 24th so we borrowed points to grab them and then cancelled our 1br and studio for the 23rd and 24th. We still have studio and 1 br for the 25th but have our fingers crossed for waitlist coming thru or that they will want to just keep us put for the night.

Everyone, I just got off the phone with MS and apparently my waitlist coverage was not as complete as I thought. I had 2 days come through yesterday at BWV but apparently, when that came through, my remaining waitlists at BWV got cleared. I still have my BCV waitlist for the 2 nights that I want but not the BWV one. So I added it back this morning.

I just got 5 of my 7 day wait list by calling. Dec 18-22 and Dec 24-25 at BCV Studio. I let go my reservation 12/18-25 for a SSR studio, so hopefully that will help someone here. Days are opening up quickly, but not for the entire time frames that they are making us waitlist for, so we're not getting them - those who call are.

Yesterday only Dec 24 was available at BCV for a studio, today Dec 18-22 was, so I will be calling every day to pick up my remaining 2 days the 22 & 23 of Dec. and I am feeling more hopeful about getting them than I was.

Imagine my surprise and delight when I see on the website today that I got AKV Value Studio for those nights. I'm not sure how I got that lucky and I am so surprised it came through automatically after reading how sometimes you have to call and call.

I really wish all of you the best of luck! I have been watching this thread since February. We had a 1bdrm at VWL and then decided to ask friends and so we went on the WL for a 2brm. In June we decided to scratch that plan, and go in April with our friends. I have still followed this thread and I am really disgusted by the way our WL works now. It used to just be frustrating in your wait list had not come through, and so you called and it was "magically filled". At least that was a happy outcome, but always in the back of my mind was the question "did it only get filled because I called, and was I the next person on the waitlist?" Now it seem that most of the time, it makes more sense not to WL because the chances of multiple days coming available at the same time is so low, at least at smaller resorts and during popular times.
I was talking to DH this morning and we usually book right at the 11 month mark, but will be a lot more determined to do that everytime now. I have changed my waitlist request. I've dropped trying to get a AKV 2BR Savannah for Dec. 21-26. But I've added a VWL 2BR Dedicated for Dec. 21. My existing ressie is for a VWL 1BR and Studio for Dec. 21 and 2BR Dedicated for Dec. 22-26. I don't know why I didn't put in the waitlist for VWL until now. I guess I was hoping my AKV would come through. But I've given up on that (I don't have the extra points anyway). I know getting what I have now is a long shot, but we'll see what happens in the next month. I would hope being just one night, it will be easier to get than for the entire time.

Also, for those trying to get a Boma ressie for Christmas Day. I just canceled a 5:30 ressie for four people.

I really wish all of you the best of luck! I have been watching this thread since February. We had a 1bdrm at VWL and then decided to ask friends and so we went on the WL for a 2brm. In June we decided to scratch that plan, and go in April with our friends. I have still followed this thread and I am really disgusted by the way our WL works now. It used to just be frustrating in your wait list had not come through, and so you called and it was "magically filled". At least that was a happy outcome, but always in the back of my mind was the question "did it only get filled because I called, and was I the next person on the waitlist?" Now it seem that most of the time, it makes more sense not to WL because the chances of multiple days coming available at the same time is so low, at least at smaller resorts and during popular times.
I was talking to DH this morning and we usually book right at the 11 month mark, but will be a lot more determined to do that everytime now. I think a good way to do that would be for all canceled rooms to have to sit for 24 hours in a hold. This way when the waitlist checks overnight for matches, it will catch the rooms instead of them being given away before they even hit the waitlist.

I asked if it was available if I happened to be on the phone with them but otherwise just checked the website every few days. When I found out my days came through for my December trip, I found out while on the phone with them on Monday that they had come through on Saturday prior.

I waitlisted just this Saturday for any studio anywhere 12/10 - 12/12 (2 nights) knowing my chances were pretty minimal. Imagine my surprise and delight when I see on the website today that I got AKV Value Studio for those nights. I'm not sure how I got that lucky and I am so surprised it came through automatically after reading how sometimes you have to call and call.

Final day of my waitlist came through this morning. We have all of nights Dec 3-7th at BWV in a BW view studio. This last day also came through automatically even though the other three days I got through calling.

Looks like a lot of us are getting lucky.

It's funny. When I talked to MS a couple of months ago, she made it sound as if the "the calling multiple times a day to book or waitlist a day or two at a time" was NOT allowed at all. She told me if members tried doing this, that the previous waitlist(s)/bookings that they made for segments of their vacation would be cancelled and they would be rewait-listed/rebooked for the whole stay.

I did not think "piecing together" a reservation (the old wait listing/booking "day-by-day") was allowed anymore. I am confused and frustrated by this incongruence within MS.

If I am not understaning this new process, someone please educate me.



Anyway, to keep this post on topic, my wait lists are still active (as of yesterday) for 12/14-12/19 at any 2-bedroom at BWV or BCV.

I share your frustrations about the WL. I have had a week waitlisted since June and nothing. This new WL system is not working as is, because unlike many timeshares, DVC allows members to book single days, rather than an entire week. Time to go back to the old system.

Just called, there are no studios available for VWL or AKV still for 12-7 thru 12-13 for any of the nights. Was also told there were no 1bdrms for any nights that week, however the cast member didn't seem to take any time to look because they were two separate requests and after she told me about the studios, I asked about the 1bdrm and she immediately replied that none were available for SSR. Can they change screens that quick? or did I just get blown off?

As long as your first day is available I think you can book any other day in the next 7 that is available, and wait list any non available days, but if they are consecutive days they cannot be split into single days.

I called MS last Thursday. I was WL for 12/4 for about 2 weeks when I called, and I asked if there was any chance that there was availability for 12/4 anywhere. She started looking and then said I'd need to hold for a moment. She came back and said she had a studio in the Hosp House section. She booked it, and then I asked why it wasn't sent to WL because I had been WL for that day. She said she probably grabbed it right as someone cancelled before it went to the WL. I said ok.

Then, I said I wanted to change my WL because it was for either section of OKW, and I'd like to change it to HH house section only and change the dates. She said ok and modified it. I was surprised because I thought she had to cancel and relist it and lose my place in line. She said no, she can modify a waitlist.

Then last Friday I called to 'check' on any dates of my waitlist. MS said none were available. I asked her if it's possible to waitlist each day separately and SHE SAID YES! I was speechless. So I said ok, do it day by day. She did, and when she was done said I had 2 waitlists, one for the entire stay and one for each day.

Tonight I checked the web site and they booked the night of 12/5 in the HH section of OKW. So she did actually list me day by day.


So I'm shocked by what happened. I don't know if it's by specific rep if they'll do it, or if it was that I only had 3 days left on my stay. The other thought was that maybe they're seeing that so many people are waitlisted for the holiday season and none of the waitlists are moving so they're letting us WL day by day if we ask?

Or maybe, just maybe, MS finally got a brain and realized this 'whole stay' WL isn't beneficial, the calls are still coming in, and they're secretly modifying their procedure so they don't have to look like they made a mistake?

I say all of you who are WL for more than one day call tomorrow and see if you can WL day by day. Then post your results (were you successful, how many calls did it take til you found a rep who would do it, etc.) FYI-I spoke to a younger female without an accent. I'm sure if you call enough you can eventually get her! LOL!

Not to keep repeating the same thing over and over, but this waitlist is clearly flawed. Surely there has to be a way for them to figure this out. I think my new plan is going to be to call MS every day during my lunch break. I shouldn't have to do it, but maybe that way I'll snag a couple of nights here and there and then we won't have to do as many nights on cash. If the goal was to reduce the number of calls to MS, they've failed miserably.

I think an email is in order. I'll definitely be sending one to MS within the next few days. This needs to be handled better and more fairly.

This may be an answer to a previous poster.... Many of the people waitlisted now were waitlisted at 7 month mark or somewhere near that time. That was before the new waitlist rules were put into effect. So I guess we were "grandfathered" in.

With that said, I have Dec 7-11 waitlisted. One time when I called, the wonderful lady at MS added a 2 single days to my wait list.. Dec 7 and Dec 10. So now, my waitlists are, the two single days and the 4 days, which have the same days in them. (Does that make ANY sense :rotfl: )

The system is flawed. There really has to be a better way to do this.

Update: I called MS just now. As you recall, I had a full-stay WL from 12/5-12/8 (departure), plus day-by-day WL for the same days. The night of 12/5 came through yesterday. MS just confirmed that I'm still WL'd for the night of 12/6 and 12/7 separately. So it appears that my WL match of 12/5 cancelled my full-stay WL but kept my individual nights of 12/6 and 12/7.

It couldn't hurt to try. As long as you're not picky about where you stay and are willing to do a little leg work, I'm sure you can get a ressie. I started mine at the 30-day mark and had a complete ressie within 2 weeks. Now I'm just tweaking it a bit.

I agree about the waitlist needing to be fixed. I've posted under other threads about my recent experience. I decided to take a last minute trip dec 5-9 and called about 2-3 weeks ago to see if they had any 1 bdrms anywhere. Ofcourse, there was nothing available. I went on WL for 4 consecutive nights. Called 8 times a day, by day 3 or so, got 7th and 8th in BWV studio standard view. Kept calling 8 times a day, got 5th and 6th at SSR in 1 bedroom. So, I kept on the WL for all 4 consecutive nights at any resort in a 1 bedroom, so wouldn't have to switch, I also added WL for SSR 1bdrm for the 7th and 8th (was told by some MS reps that even though I had one WL for the 5th - 9th and one WL for the 7th-8th, that if the 7th-8th WL cleared, my other WL for the 5th-9th would still stay on there, even though the WL's had overlapping dates, but other MS reps told me no, that if one WL cleared, the other WL would be deleted because of having overlapping dates, they also said they could put a note in the WL to not cancel it if the other WL cleared, but that there was no guarantee of it not cancelling). Guess what? I called to check on my WL early last week, no match. I asked her to check BWV and SSR, and she says "oh, I have all 4 nights at BWV in a 1 bdrm pref/garden view". :rotfl: So, I said grab it, and she did. Then she checked my WL, and apparantly I had every possible WL on there for a 1 bedroom at any property, EXCEPT the BWV 1 bedroom pref/garden view!! So, if I hadn't called, I would not have gotten my terrific reservation. Anyway, like many of you have said, I don't trust the WL at all.

Just got two nights -- 12/26 and 12/27 at BWV standard. We're wait listed for BW view, and I called to check. She said she had the 1BR standard and would we like it -- then we could stay on the waitlist for the BW view. So we snapped it up. Now we're a go for 8 nights at BWV during the holidays. It would be nice if our BWV would come through so we don't have to move, but .... I'll keep checking.

Well, I just changed my plans for my 2 night December trip. I'm keeping the 7th at Pop, but I got a value studio at AKV for the night of the 8th. This makes me so happy since, I have a late pick up on the 9th, ME, and I get to stay around this wonderful resort for the day!

Last year, they had a craft of making a ostrich egg Christmas decoration, but I didn't do it. I sure hope they offer that this year.

Just cancelled tomorrow to check out on 12th at AKV Sav ded studio as I had a kidney stone appear. Have been in hospital all day and am not fit to fly :(

Not sure if I got one of Claire's canceled days or not, BUT my WL for an AKV Savannah View Studio Jambo came thru for 12/6!:cool1: We had a ressie for AKV standard studio, but was hoping to get a savannah view. At least one of my waitlists actually came thru! :headache: We have been on the WL for a 2 Bdrm at the BCV, BWV and VWL since the exact day of my 7 month mark. :sad2: Guess we will try out our actual "home" of SSR.

I officially cancelled our trip today. My oldest could not go with us so we are going in July instead. It sure was hard to do though. If our waitlist had ever come through for the beginning of the trip I probably would have done both trips but we were going to miss the Christmas decorations anyway. I will try to reschedule a Christmas trip for next year.

I just went online and found out my wl for a studio anywhere was filled for Dec 13 to 16 - we are staying at SSR :cool1: I have only been on it for just over a month and when I called yesterday there was still nothing available. My 1st Check in night was for the 7th and even though my WL ended on Sunday, a really nice CM said...just keep checking...call right at 9am(I was her first caller again today-I have spoken with several of the same ladies for the past several days)...I think sometimes WDW releases extra rooms into inventory. Trust me-when Monday came and I didn't have a ressie I was beginning to panic. I must have called 5 times a day. Thank goodness for 800 number.:lovestruc

We were staying at SSR. We needed at least the 29th - 1st to come through to make it worth going. We still had the 2nd - 9th but we were going to have very limited time to enjoy the Christmas activities. Maybe next year.

I can't believe it but my waitlist for a 2BR Dedicated at VWL for Dec. 21 just came through. We had previously had a Studio and 1BR for the 21st and were moving to a 2BR on the 22nd. I had given up completely but checked the website this morning and sure enough the Studio and 1BR are gone and a 2BR Dedicated has taken their places. It is going to be so much nicer not having to move on Monday.

I didn't have it waitlisted but called a few days before we came down to see if there was a 2 bedroom available from 12/13-12/20 and got 12/15-12/20 (so yes, that means I'm here now and loving it!!!!) We are in Room #2519 and it's one of the corner rooms that's configured differently than the regular two bedrooms. We like it alot and are going to request this corner area in the future! Ask for it if you get the chance!
