This was a Mother Daughter trip and I am just cutting and pasting from my pre trippie the introductions….http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1682282
HI, I am puggymom 41, pug lover , NY Jets fan and of course a Disney lover . I am the planner of this latest sojourn to Mouseland. Well, I am always the planner as those that are reading this are too, why else are you reading. I am also a Focker and my next trip after this is going to be the great Focker meet of 2008, see pre-trippie link in siggie
Me winning a dream fass pass last year

And now let me introduce Murph, aka my mom, 74. The woman who gave birth to me, took me to WDW in 1972 (where she lost me behind the castle ), DL in 1976 and didn’t see the reason to go back to either one . See I am the only addict in my family. I do have a brother that has taken his kids a couple of times, but doesn’t, GASP , plan anything, they just wing it. My other brother, well, 1972 and 1976 apparently were enough for him. See, I am the one my parents got right!
Murph with the pugs

Some things to know about Murph, she seems to act more and more like a teenager, can be extremely cheap, but then turn around and is very generous, particularly with her grandkids, and has some of the ugliest carry on bags you have seen. Just wait until I snap pics of her luggage. But she is also a saint. As some of you know my Dad was sick for many years, Mom stayed home and took care of him, hardly went anywhere as he was housebound. Because of this, Dad had the comforts of home up until the end. I cannot thank her enough for her sacrifices.
Now it is Murph’s turn to have fun and boy is she. Last year she went to Hawaii, Vegas, Massachusetts and Greece. This year so far she has trips planned for, WDW, France, Massachusetts again, and a river cruise. Believe me she has earned every one of these trips, she is living her life again.
How did this trip come about you ask…Last Easter as we were driving back from my brother’s house and I was talking about my up coming trip to WDW, Murph said she would like to go to WDW. Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather. She has only been once since 1972, but that was in 1994 with me. We did have a great time, but yet again, she was like been there, done that. I know I don’t understand that either. But, she is an animal lover and wanted to see AK and I think she was getting curious as to what her youngest child saw in WDW that compelled me to spend so much of my time and disposable income there.
So now when to go… Murph, who was never a smoker, has emphysema from second hand smoke, her Dad and my Dad were pipe smokers. Now she doesn’t have it real bad, but going when it was crowded or hot wasn’t an option. I had never been in February and had heard how light the crowds were in the early part of the month. OK we will go the first week in February long before the President day week crowds.
Oh, but not so fast, is it ever that simple...
Now, thanks to the Dis, I learned that Mardi Gras was the first week of February this year. Uh-oh, that means that Ash Wednesday is that week too! Now Murph is a very devoted Catholic. If we are there Ash Wednesday that would mean losing a half a day of park time to go get her some Ashes. I made an executive decision and moved this trippie to the 2nd week of February, we would still be heading home before the worst of the President’s day crowds.
Next up - it's finally time to go home!

Our trip began on Saturday, February 9th. Murph arrived at my house late afternoon around 3:15.
Me: How many bags did you bring?
Murph: only 3, but I am leaving one here
Me: so one checked and one carryon
Murph: no 2 carryons
Me: what? you are are not checking a bag???
Murph: yes I am checking one bag
Me: How many are you carrying on?
Murph:2
Me:HUH????:confused3
Me: Let me see what you are carrying on?
Murph, here these 2
Me: what are you checking?
Murph: this one
Me: then what are you leaving here?
Murph: That one is in the car.
Me:D’OH:headache:
Yes, this is a typical converstaion with us. I made a comment about her carryos not being the usual ones. And her remark was, I know how you hate them and didn't want to listen to you laughing at them. Um, yeah I do:rolleyes1 , they are a blue mesh sort of thing, that are just the ugliest things, so I was grateful she didn’t bring them.
After Murph got organized, don’t ask, I still don’t understand why she waited until she got here to do that, we went for a light dinner at a sandwich place near my house.
We ended up watching Victor/Victoria on TV before heading to bed to get what should be a good nights sleep.:sad2: I tossed and turned all night and finally at 4:30 I got up. I gathered the pugs up and got them outside and fed. Murph started stirring around this time so I didn’t have to wake her. :thumbsup2 For this I was grateful.
Me:How did you sleep?
Murph: I froze all night.
Me: Why didn’t you get another blanket.
Murph: I didn’t want to wake you.
Me: I was probably up, but there are the blankets in the den in the basket.
Murph: Oh
Me::rolleyes:
AIS time(a$$ in seat, hi DLMama:wave2: ) was 6:15. Shortly after 6 I went to load the bags in the car and noticed a sheet of ice on my car. Normally I park in the garage, but I put Murph’s car in the garage last night, I left the defroster on and went back in. Murph was ready!!!!!! :worship: We said goodbye to the pugs and were on our way at 6:10! That's right we were ahead of schedule:yay:

We arrive at the off site parking lot and I go and check us in. In a few minutes we are loaded into the shuttle van with about 50 other people:crowded: . OK maybe I am exaggerating , but we were squeezed in tight. There were actually kids sitting on other kids laps.
Those that are familiar with Newark airport know that there are 3 terminals, Continental has taken over Terminal C and parts of B and A. We of course were flying out of C and had to stop at A and B before getting dropped off. I had already checked in on line and had our boarding passes so we were still good time wise:thumbsup2 and with no wait, easily checked our luggage in. Being it was only about 7 am the line at security was fairly short and relatively painless to get through, except for the bottle of water that Murph forgot to throw out.:headache: I stepped thought the screener and see my shoes and coat, but where’s my carryon. You know the one with my money and credit cards, etc. I start looking around saying where’s my red bag and Murph steps behind me and starts getting her stuff off the conveyor belt, but still no red bag. One of the TSA agents hears me and says they had to send it through for a second screening. OK that’s fine, as long as it’s still here. Whew!!!!
After my bag was properly screened, we both needed breakfast and Murph needed her Java juice. I parked her at the gate with the carryons, which of course was the farthset from security and I went in search of food.
Murph loves Dunkin Donuts coffee so I headed for the food court. I got her French Vanilla, myself tea and lookie at those yummy coffee cake muffins. Murph wanted something with yogurt, so I went to another place and got her a yogurt parfait with granola and fruit. Oh and I picked up a couple of bottles of water.
As I return to the gate there is Murph, unpacking her carryons.
Me: What are you doing?
Murph: Getting organized.
Me::rolleyes:
It’s then I noticed that within one of the carryons is yet another bag, she actually had 3 carryons.:sad2:
Our flight started to board shortly after we finished eating. I did notice that there was no pre-boarding of families with small children. We took off on time, which meant we would be getting into Orlando early. :woohoo:
Before I left Bonnie, the petsitter gave me a book to read about the founding of Three Dog Bakery. If you love animals it’s a must read. You will laugh and cry. I read half of it on the way down to Orlando. It’s called Amazing Grace.
As we were getting off I told Murph I wanted to stop at the bathroom. While using the facilities, I grabbed a pair of shorts and croc ithacas to change into out of my carryon. As I stepped out of the bathroom, Murph asks if that’s what I was wearing on the plane.
Me:No, I didn’t wear shorts and flip flops on the plane.
Murph: Well, I didn’t think you did. Did you just change?
Me:
We hop on the fake monorail and Murph is all excited, “Our first Ride, huh?”
I’m thinking this is a great sign.:yay:
We head down to claim the luggage and again I park Murph at a bench with the carryons and go to get the checked bags. Both of our bags were among the first to come out. I head off to find Murph and yet again there she is unpacking her carryons.
Me: What are you doing?
Murph: You got both bags already?
Me: yes, but what are you doing
Murph: I can’t believe you got both so fast.
Me: What are you doing?
Murph: I never get my bags so fast.

Did you get any snacks on the plane. Come on! Where are the details? ;) As a family, I found it easier to wait to board sometimes so the kids weren't cooped up on the plane. Whenever we feel we need more time we don't listen to the "boarding rules". We just walk up in line no matter. No one has ever said anything to us seeing our family.
I would never have thought of changing clothes at the airport. I just dress for warmness no matter. Yup! I'm the one coming home from Florida to NY with snow falling all the while wearing flops and capris! :thumbsup2

If she was more like me she wouldn't need to keep organizing, still never figured out exactly what she was doing.
:thumbsup2
OK, they handed out corn muffins and I had hot tea, Murph had coffee.
Continental was enforcing the rules on both flights I noticed folks trying to get on early and were told to wait.
It was only 33 degrees when we left (according to the car thermostat), I was not wearing flip flops and shorts until I got to FL where is was in the seventies.
Murph is turning to the dark side:thumbsup2
Just you wait....
Why no photo's?? I must see Murph and her extremely organized carry-ons! :lmao:
My camera was in my carryon with Murph.
Do tell you the truth, I am not so sure they were ever organized.
Murph sounds like me I am always reorganizingthings:thumbsup2 but DGD takes the prize for that, everynight last year she reorgaized our room we didn't find lots of things till we fully unpacked.:lmao: We swear we are handcuffing her to the bed each night :rotfl2: so she can't tidy up for us we like being slobs. As long as my carryon is organized I'm fine:rotfl:
See that's me, always picking up the room, I can't stand a mess. Tell DGD, she can come with me anytime.

Before I left Bonnie, the petsitter gave me a book to read about the founding of Three Dog Bakery. If you love animals it’s a must read. You will laugh and cry. I read half of it on the way down to Orlando. It’s called Amazing Grace.
Thanks for the book review! Sound great. Did you read "Marley & Me"? Another great dog book that will have you laughing and crying.
Love Murph's organizing and reorganizing! :lmao: Glad you made to to Orlando on time! Now on to the good stuff! :)

Our flight started to board shortly after we finished eating. I did notice that there was no pre-boarding of families with small children. We took off on time, which meant we would be getting into Orlando early. :woohoo:
I never understood this---why would I want to have the kids sit on the plane even longer?? :confused3
Me:No, I didn’t wear shorts and flip flops on the plane.
Murph: Well, I didn’t think you did. Did you just change?

With Murph organized;) , we head off to the National Emerald Aisle. The beauty of this is there is no line, just go out to the garage and head over to the Aisle marked Emerald. You just pick a car and drive to the booth to check out. Takes a matter of minutes.:thumbsup2
I explained this to Murph but she wasn’t quite grasping it. As we left the terminal to cross the street to the garage, she started saying that we need to go the desk first and get the keys.
Me: No, the keys are in the car.
Murph: But how do you know which car?
Me: you just pick any car on the marked aisle
Murph: But don’t you have to wait in line at the desk first?
Me: No, all my info is preregisted before hand.
Murph:confused:
So we arrive at the Emerald Aisle and I ask Murph if she has a preference.
Murph: How do you know which one to take.
Me: pick any car on this aisle
Murph: where are the keys?
Me: in the driver’s door
Murph: I don’t care, you pick. I’m confused.
Me: OK, let’s take this white one, it’s the same make I had in October and I liked it.
We load the car up and pull up to the booth where I hand my license, credit card and email confirmation. 2 minutes later we are exiting the garage and Murph is impressed. :)
Murph: Wow that was easy and quick.
Me: Yes, I love Emerald Aisle, best invention since sliced bread.
Murph: I like traveling with you.
Me: good, now let’s go home!
Murph: Wow I never see you smile like this.
Me: That’s because I am heading to my happy place and I feel the real world slipping away.
Murph is very tired and asks if I would mind if she closed her eyes and try and grab a cat nap. Nope, go right ahead, I will wake you when we get to the Boardwalk.

Well, as it turns out Murph was pretty chatty on the ride in from the airport. She was full of questions and seemed pretty eager to get there.:yay: In no time at all we pulled up to the Boardwalk and took full advantage of the free valet parking that DVC members get. Checked all our bags with Bell Services and checked in to get our KTTW cards. Again, I parked Murph on a bench while I took care of things.
It was only about noon so I knew the room wouldn’t be ready, so the plan was to spend the afternoon over at the Studios. We were both hungry and agreed to get some pizza on the Boardwalk before going to DHS. The pizza was ok, not as good as around here, but still pretty good.
We walked over to the dock and waited for our first official Disney ride. Murph loves boats and was very happy to find out that we were taking a boat ride to the park. While waiting for the boat, I gave her the park hopper I got her and snapped this pic.
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dc36b3127cceb57fcd16370e00000026108AaNGbZw4bti
While sitting on the boat, I started explaining what rides/attractions are at DHS, that I think Murph would like. She says she likes the sounds of the ones I have picked out. At this point, Murph says, she understands if there are some rides that I would like to ride and she wouldn’t mind sitting them out. She doesn’t want me to miss out on my fun. Thanks Murph, I may take you up on that.
With very little trouble Murph manages to make it through the turnstile and we are in!!! We head straight for GMR, but it’s not open, they expect it to be open later though. OK.
Let’s head over to Back lot Tour. As we are walking up to it somehow the conversation turns to….

I can't wait to find out what Murph forgot popcorn:: . She sounds like a fun lady to me. My mom would have been the same way with car rental. I would had explain more than once and she is only 60  . Don't get me wrong she is smart, just set in her ways and times are changing, seems like they don't always get that  . I could never get my mom to go to Disney with us though. But I love reading all about your mother/daughter trip.
I put BW pizza on our list for must do's either this trip or when we go on the cruise. If someone from NJ says it's pretty good then it's worth a try ;) Pizza in TN is just not good and we have tried almost everywhere from here to Nashville. I have something to look forward to when we come to NJ in June, good food.

I absolutely LOVE your short updates. That's my kind of update. My ADD thanks you too! ;)
Anywho, I love the boat ride to DHS. In fact, I like the boat ride better than the bus anywhere. Oh well.
How cool of Murph to agree with you on your choices and then be so understanding if you want to go on anything without her. But now you have me intrigued about whta is left behind ...

Murph loves boats and was very happy to find out that we were taking a boat ride to the park.
Good choice of hotel then :thumbsup2
At this point, Murph says, she understands if there are some rides that I would like to ride and she wouldn’t mind sitting them out. She doesn’t want me to miss out on my fun. Thanks Murph, I may take you up on that.

Hey Mo!
I found you! Didn't know you had a trippie going on too! I guess I don't do a good job of reading people's signatures. Anyway, I'm on board for this one. It reminds me a bit of my MIL, although by this point in a trip, I would have left her by the side of the road! My mom is great (and would have believed me about the rental car), but my MIL would have kept questioning me until I left her on a bench and drove away without her! I can't wait to hear more stories.
I have a guess about what she left... since you just gave her the tickets and it wasn't sunscreen, what about some glasses? :cool2: Does she wear them? Does she need them to see the attractions? I don't know, but it's a guess.
Can't wait to read more...

So when we last left Murph I had were heading to the BLT and we were discussing …
Now remember from the pre trippie, Murph was tasked with bringing filters and coffee, that was it other than her own clothes.
Murph: I remembered the filters
Me: and the grinds
Murph::eek:
Me::eek:
Me: you didn’t bring the coffee?
Murph: I got so focused on the filters I forgot the coffee, but I do remember you saying to bring both.
Me: OK, you know what, you like the Disney coffee I bought you home before, we can by some in one of the souvenir shops before going back to the hotel.
Murph: Oh yeah, I like those 3 little tins with the different flavors, that would be perfect.
Me: OK, we can do that, or worse case scenario, I can take the car and run to the store tonight.
With that decided, we enter the BLT and I explain to Murph to go the back row.
Murph: Don’t we want the front?
Me: Only if you want to get wet.
Murph: OK, let’s go to the back row.
Me: when we get on the trams, and if we are first to get on in our row, let me go first.
Murph: Why is it scary?
Me: do you want to get wet?
Murph: Ok, you get on first.
Sure enough we are placed first in the row for the tram and Murph graciously lets me on first.;)

I know BLT needs to be updated, made more exciting, but Murph loved it. She hasn’t been here in 14 years and this was perfect for her to start off.
We then headed over to Muppets and walk into the pre show, which has already started. Then I noticed that I am traveling with of those people. You know, those that walk right past the folks that are already there. I grabbed Murph by the arm and explained you should wait here since these folks were already here. Poor Murph thought that the pre show was the show and she wanted to see it all, she was just wandering around looking at everything. I guess I should have explained things better. I kept telling Murph to make sure she took the time to look at the details as that is what makes this place so special and that’s what she was doing. Oops, sorry there Murph.:guilty:
After leaving Muppets, we passed Mama Melrose and Murph wanted to know what it was, I explained it was an OK restaurant. Murph then decided that I need to make a career change and start a Disney Travel Agency. Well, if I thought I could make a decent living at it, I would. Murph was really starting to get impressed with all my Disney knowledge. She said she felt like she had her own personal tour guide.:thumbsup2
The rest of the afternoon was spent touring One Man’s Dream and The Animation tour. We stopped on the way out to see what Disney Princess we were most like

We stopped to look at some lithographs in the store as we were leaving and I noticed the Thomas Kincaide prints of the Castle, only $550. Um let me think about that. :sad2: Boy they sure are pretty though.
Next up: Where’s the coffee???

As we left the animation tour, I wanted to see how crowded ToT was. It was crowded, but FP return was 5:30 -6:30 and we had a 5 pm ADR, perfect I could ride after we eat.
Yes! I plan on riding ToT right after eating and no it won’t be a problem.
I decided we should get the coffee now before we forgot. Murph wanted the 3 little tins of flavored coffee that I had brought her in the past. Starting by ToT, we went through all the shops and only saw the single large tin. When we got to the last store before the gate I asked. CM tells me the first store by ToT has it. OH, that’s where we started. So back we go and again I can’t find it, so I ask. This CM, tells us to go to Villains across the street. Murph is getting upset now, and I figure if we can’t find the little cans, we buy the one big can. We go over to Villains and again they don’t have the 3 little tins. All the CM’s are surprised by this (we never did find the 3 little cans anywhere on property). So we bought the large tin
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dc36b3127cceb57fc60cf6b900000035118AaNGbZw4bti
and she seemed to relax now that the coffee was bought. (and I was happy as I really didn’t want to take the car tonight and drive around:sad2: )
I noticed GMR was now opened and it was 4:20, we had a 5 pm ADR at Brown Derby. The CM said it was a 15 minute wait, so we decided to get on line. As we were making our way through, Mom wanted to know why the Chinese theming. I then reminded her of the foot and hand prints out front and then she realized what we were in. We make our way to the line and I am getting nervous about the time. They stopped letting folks in to the next show right before us. A few minutes later they asked for a party of 2, whew, made it.:thumbsup2
Murph loved this ride, though we did get the gangster, I have yet to get the cowboy. You know what I noticed for the first time. At the end of the ride when they show the film clips there is a clip from Blazing Saddles. It’s where Mongo punches the horse. Blazing Saddles is one of my all time favorite movies, can’t believe I never noticed it before.
We exit the ride at 4:56. Good thing BD is right across the way from GMR.
As we entered Murph needed to use the facilities, so I checked us in while she was otherwise busy. Right after Murph returned, they called us to be seated. We were given a great table. One of those circular booths. Murph quickly noticed that we had a linen table cloth and only those tables without kids had the table cloth. WTG Murph on noticing that.:thumbsup2
The waitress came over to take our drink order and Murph got an apple martini and I got Iced tea.
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dc36b3127cceb57fcd10370800000026108AaNGbZw4bti
For starters Murph and I split the Market greens salad. Two thumbs up and for dinner:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 , Murph ordered the pork chop and I got the grouper. Both were delicious, I can’t tell you how good the food was here. To give you an idea how good it was, Murph never finishes a plate, always has leftovers. Well, Murph picked the pork chop cleaned, there wasn’t a crumb left on her plate. Even the rolls they gave were wonderful and warm. We both really enjoyed this meal and would absolutely go back. When the time came to pay the bill I got out my DDE card for the 20% off. Murph then announced she would pay for the sit down meals and I could pay for snacks, counter service meals and the miscellaneous tips (valet, bell services, etc). Um are you sure? Ok then, I don’t have a problem with that plan.:cool1:
After dinner we walked over to ToT and I showed Murph where the gift shop was to meet me later. I was able to walk right into the pre show with only FP’s guest being allowed into (standby guests went to the other preshow). Our pre show consisted of 8 people. (keep in mind the standby line was pretty long) Once we were out of the pre show we headed to the boiler room. Now you know where the line splits? I could see off to the right that line was almost to the split, so I went straight ahead, the other 7 went to the right. Guess who walked right on? ME!:yay:
I couldn’t believe how fast I was able to ride. As I walked off I could see Murph on one of the benches at the entrance to the gift shop (near where they sell the photos). It looked like she was sleeping. I called out to her and she was surprised to see me so quickly. I think she was disappointed that her nap wasn’t longer. Walking through the gift shop she starts looking at the merchandise.
Me:Do you see something you like.
Murph:I want to buy something for Kelly.
Me: You have 6 grandkids, you can’t play favorites.
Murph: I don’t, but she is the one I see most often (Murph takes Kelly to school 3-4 times a week so Kelly doesn’t have to go to pre Care.)
Me: Well, there will be better options then ToT stuff later on in the week.
At this point we are both exhausted. Murph asks what the crowds around the end of the street are for. I tell her people are waiting for the Fantasmic theatre to open. She wants to know what time the show is, I tell her 8pm. We both agree it’s not worth waiting for.
I decide to call for our room # so we can go settle in for the night.
Next up: What was that # again?

Am I first? WTG me!
Glad you at least found the big tin of coffee for Murph. That is a really cool can!

I bought this in August and loved the can so much, I keep it on my counter and just keep refilling it. :teeth: :scared1: OMG! I just realized I've turned into my mother!!! :faint:
Murph quickly noticed that we had a linen table cloth and only those tables without kids had the table cloth. WTG Murph on noticing that.:thumbsup2

Does Murph wanna be my mum in August? :lmao:

You know what I noticed for the first time. At the end of the ride when they show the film clips there is a clip from Blazing Saddles. It’s where Mongo punches the horse. Blazing Saddles is one of my all time favorite movies, can’t believe I never noticed it before.
the only thing I notice are the doors opening and me saying "praise jesus" I am out of here. I do not like that ride. :)
great update and pics. Glad Murph found some coffee she could use. her appletini looked good.

I call for our room assignment and am told 3003.:rolleyes2 Yep, those familiar with BWV know what that means. Nothing we can do about it. I won’t mention it to Murph, maybe she won’t notice.:rolleyes1
As we are heading for the exit Murph comments that DHS is just like an amusement park.
She is so astute, isn’t she.:goodvibes
We head for the boat dock and see one is just pulling in. Perfect timing. We hop on and head back to BWV. Murph comments on how much she likes the boat and wants to know if we will be riding it again. (OK, I wasn’t planning on it as it is soooo slow, and we weren’t going back to DHS). I told her we may, which made her happy. This is # 10 on Murph’s Top Ten WDW Attractions - Disney Boats.
As we dock we are both exhausted and just want to get the luggage and go to bed. We head up the staircase and head to bell services. I had the Garden Grocer food order coming between 6 and 8 and it is now 7:10. Bell services tell us the food order is here and they can bring everything up together. :yay: GREAT! We head to the elevator and Bell services will be up shortly. Murph and I begin the looooong walk to the room. After the first hour, Murph wants to know how much longer. Um, almost there we are more than half way now.:sad2:
:offtopic: Ok I have a theory, notice how all the Fockers got rooms at the wrong end of the looooooong hallway???? Coincidence???? I don't think so, I think there is Focker conspriracy. See they know they have us, no matter where they stick us, they know we are coming back, heck there is the 2nd annual Fockerfest being planned as I type this. Listen I m just sayin':rolleyes1
Anywho, back to the loooong hallway.
We eventually find our way to the room and within minutes bell services shows up with everything. Garden Grocer had everything perfect, even the produce that I had ordered.:thumbsup2
Murph decides to take a shower tonight to save time in the morning. Hmm, she is really getting on board here!;)
While Murph is showering I unpack the food and my stuff and settle in. It was then that I noticed that there were 2 packs of coffee in the room. Well, now we have plenty of java juice. I also took the time to snap a few night time pics from our balcony.

BTW, one thing I loved about 3003, was the one big balcony. I know that many 1 bedrooms have 2 small balconies, but this one had 1 large one so you could enter it from the bedroom and living room.
We are both absolutely exhausted and both head to bed. We decide to share the king bed as neither wants the pull out. I had completely lost track of time when all of sudden….
BOOM BOOM BOOM
Yep Illuminations started. With that Murph sprang out of bed and threw the curtains open. I was just too tired to roll over and look. Murph kept poking me, look they are beautiful.

I was thrilled that she was enjoying this, but I was exhausted. But I guess not to exhausted though as I tossed and turned again tonight. I heard the crowd leave Jellyrolls. It wasn’t loud and it didn’t last long, I wouldn’t have noticed it if I had been ASLEEP!!!!:headache:

Great updates! Murph sounds like she is having a great time so far. Love her top ten! I wish I would have taken the boat from BW to HS. We walked on the hottest, humidest day with whiny tired kids. DS actaully fell asleep and had to be carried :headache: . Also watching the fireworks from bed sounds good too :) . Love the picture of the two of you at HBD. looking for forward to your first full day popcorn:: .

First again .... pat pat pat!
Well, you are fast, I guess that's why you are always first;)
I smell a Disney conversion happening! :thumbsup2
Just you wait...
I already knew that. Well, only because on your last TR, I noticed your name tag from your Segway tour photo.
Can't get anything past you, huh
SO Murph took a shower the night before that should help in getting out of the room on time---right???:rotfl2::rolleyes1
It's only worth it the first few times then the trek is just faaaaaaar. We were in room 5007. Nuff said.::yes::
Great view! Love Murphs #10 and #9 - I think you've created a monster!:rolleyes1
That is so awsome that Murph got to Illuminations from the bedroom!
Shes really having a good time isnt she?! I hope it keeps up!! :thumbsup2 She really was, even though we were exhausted.
I would have been excited about watching fireworks from bed too!
If I wasn't so tired I would have been too!
Winky, you need a life. :rolleyes:OK, who left the lights on again?
You KNOW how I feel on the subject. And I find it particularly interesting that when I travel with my friend Char, we always get a good location.
See, this just is further proof!!!!
You went alone?
Heidi, I even take solo trips, take a look at the completed trip reports and you will find 2 TR that I took solo. I love going solo in the parks:thumbsup2
Wow--I didn't know the evasive "we'll see....maybe later" works with kids AND parent!
SHHH:ssst: don't tell Murph:lmao:
You're in bed at 9pm??
We were tired, we were up at 4:30!
Really? Where'd the Mo come from??? Are you a stooges fan?See follow up posts....
Great update and pics.
That is so great that Murph is liking things. I love the Disney boats. they are fun and relaxing. Nice night pics.
Relaxing, but slow.
What you are saying they are trying to keep the riff raff out of sight:confused3 :rotfl: :rolleyes1
Sorry I'm late...
I'm so happy to hear that Murph is already taking such a liking to all that you are doing!:goodvibes I commend her for her ability to see you as Disney Expert AND to find all the fun that's out there (#s 10 and 9). Can't wait to hear the rest of the list.
Oh, it gets better....
That is just so sweet, she sounded all excited :lovestruc
She really was excited, and maybe a little annoyed that I didn't want to get up.
I can't believe your room number. :sad2: I have a sinking feeling now that the girls & I will be in Focker Row in Aug. Maybe the Boardwalk will paint the walls lime green for us waaaaaaay down at the end? ;) At least you got a great view! :thumbsup2:lmao: I will be curious to see where you and the girls end up in August!
You didn't get up to see Illuminations?!
I was too dang tired!

That is a long walk, I like it in nice weather, first thing in the morning, but not like what you described, then it's boat time!
I would love to go back to BD, it was such good food and so relaxing too!

The next day started with a 6:15 wake up call. I was already awake and just picked the phone up and immediately hung it up, I really was in no mood for Stitch.:sad2:
I hopped in the shower and was a little nervous after reading about the drainage problems V had in December. Happy to report that 3003 had no drainage issues. I had a great shower every day, great water pressure, nice and hot and no puddles!:thumbsup2
Murph started to stir and wanted to know what time we were leaving today. We had to be at Guest Relations at AK by 8:15 to check in for the Back Stage Safari tour. I told her I wanted to be in the car no later than 7:45 as it was EMH morning at AK and wasn’t sure what the crowds would be.
I think I heard a groan come from under the covers where Murph was.:rolleyes2
I would have started the coffee, but didn’t know how. Remember I’m a tea drinker, I just nuke the water for my tea. I proceeded to get the rest of breakfast out and set the table.
I just loved having GC deliver everything the day before and not having to go get breakfast each day was great. I am one of those folks that needs the big breakfast due to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). It’s one thing traveling solo to get up and get something to eat, but when traveling with others who are slow to get moving, having the breakfast in the room was great!
At 7:35 I called Valet to have the car brought around. I told Murph she had 5 minutes, she said she needed 15. Well I am leaving in 5, hope you are ready. :rolleyes1
OK I know what you are thinking, that she is 74 and I should be nicer, but if I gave her 15 she would have been 30. We had a tour to catch. A tour that was her b-day present too.
By 7:50 we were on our way to the park. And it was crowded, just another reminder why I avoid EMH mornings. We find the tour group and within a few minutes the guide is checking everyone in and handing out ear pieces so it’s easy to hear the guides speak.
The guides took some time to introduce themselves, one just finished the CP program and now was on a 6 month internship, he said he wanted to go back for his teaching degree. Murph didn’t think that made sense.:sad2:
First we walked through Discovery Island and saw these
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dc36b3127cceb57fc2c5774200000026108AaNGbZw4bti
We then tried to find the anteater, but he wasn’t out. With that we headed for the back stage entrance behind the Rain Forest Café. There were 2 vans waiting for us to drive us along the outside perimeter road.
(sorry there are no pics and they insist on no cameras back stage)
Did you know that CM’s are given bikes back stage to get to their work locations? This is to cut down on car traffic and emissions around the animals.
After a 5 minute drive we arrive at the night pens for the white rhino where their caretaker greets us to teach us about the white rhino.
Did you know that Disney is working with governments in Africa to re-populate the wild with rhinos? Yeah, neither did I.
We were then taken along a path along the night pens to an outside pen. The trainer then called out for Sammy to come meet us. I figured Sammy was another CM. Nope. Sammy was a white rhino. The trainer called him over to the fence so we could get a closer look. Then she asked if we would like to pet him. I though Murph was going to jump into the pen, she was so happy to hear that she would be able to touch the rhino.:yay:
You have understand we are huge animal lovers and this was just an unbelievable opportunity for us.
We were standing in a single file along the walkway, Murph was #4 and I was #5. The man that was #3 must have sensed Murph’s anticipation and excitement in meeting Sammy, because when it was his turn he said for Murph to go ahead. Boy was she grinning ear to ear after petting Sammy. This was obviously #8 on Murph’s Top Ten.
The man eventually did pet Sammy after everyone else had a turn. I would have felt bad if he didn’t.
After meeting Sammy we went to the elephant pen where one was getting a bath. We were upstairs looking down at the elephant. They explained how the male elephants have to be kept separate and they are only allowed in the herd when it is breeding time.
We then went over to where they prepare the food. Each species has its own recipe that must be followed closely, each ingredient it weighed to make sure it is exactly what the recipe calls for.
After another short van ride we arrived back stage at Rafiki’s Planet watch and were shown were the animals get their annual check ups. We were also shown into a conference room where they had water and snacks for us and we were given what turned out to be a very interesting talk about spiders. Yeah , I know, I thought the same thing:eek: , but it turned out to be very entertaining.
The tour was coming to end but not before a special ride on Kilamanjaro safari. Before going back on stage we passed a Dream Squad member and the tour guides pointed her out and pointed out what she was wearing. Murph was really interested. Remember Murph is cheap so the idea of something free will interest her. We head over to KS and we had what the guides call a super fast pass and had a special truck waiting for us. Murph and I were seated right behind the guides. Here are the pics of what we saw…

Yeah, we didn't see much...
Now I need to explain a little something about Murph here. She has done a lot of traveling especially when Dad was still healthy. One trip included a Nile cruise (think of the movie Death on the Nile, it was just like that) and then a photo safari in Kenya. Now imagine going on a Kenyan safari and then riding KS. Yeah, she was what I called under whelmed. At the end she not so quietly said, “that’s it?”
I know the guides heard her so I made the comment, oh I guess after seeing the real thing in Kenya this doesn’t quite live up to it. I didn’t want them to think she didn’t like the tour. She did, she loved it, just wasn’t impressed with KS.
With that the guides brought us over to the outdoor seating across from Tusker House to fill out surveys. We both gave them high marks and we also got pins commemorating the tour. On the way out I notice Mom was talking to the one guide (the one who wanted to teach). I walked over and there she is giving him career advice. I apologized and pulled Murph away from him. He was very polite about the whole thing, but I did feel bad. The park seemed really crowded so we (all right, I) decided to go DTD for lunch and other activities. (and it was on the Plan that that was what we were going to do)

We arrived at DTD shortly before noon and we were both getting hungry despite the snack we were given on the tour. I told her about Earl’s and we agreed that’s where we would eat. She was a bit over whelmed with the line, but I assured her it moves fast and that once she decides what she wanted to eat, she could go find a table and I would get the food.
Murph selected the Caprese wrap and I got the BLT. Murph also wanted the white macadamia cookie. When I got to pay and select the cookie I didn’t see the one Murph wanted. I asked and they don’t serve them anymore. So um, why are they are on the menu? So I opted for the chocolate chip.
We both enjoyed our sandwiches and neither wanted the cookie right then so we saved it for later.
Murph wanted to shop so I told her I got a 10% discount at WoD. As we were walking in I warned her about the spitting Stitch, she thought that was disgusting :crazy2: and I have to agree with her. That and it is annoying.
First I looked to see if I could find Mickey’s pants in the pet section. Nope don’t see them. OK let’s look for the gel pens a coworker wanted next. Nope, didn’t have them either.
I’m 0 for 2 here.:sad2:
As I was looking at the pens from the executive collection, Murph noticed the HSM2 merchandise and was off to find something for Kelly. I stayed at the pens and picked a out new one for myself. Then went to find Murph. Together we selected a shirt for Kelly. In the meantime Murph had noticed BBB and picked up the brochure. She insists on paying for Kelly to go when I take Kelly in August. Murph will make it part of Kelly’s B-day present. Sounds good to me, less money for me to spend in August.:thumbsup2
Murph also starts asking when am I telling Kelly. I don’t plan on telling her until her b-day in June. Murph is disappointed, she can’t wait until Kelly finds out.
We proceeded to walk around some more and check out the jewelry, just browsing here folks. Murph asked if I was buying anything and I showed her the pen.. She agreed is was a pretty pen and I should get it. And I always do what my mom tells me to do.
Next we went in the misses/juniors section. We each started looking at different items. Now I did say I wasn’t shopping this trip, but I didn’t know Murph was going to be an enabler. Next thing I know she is telling me to buy the shirt I was looking at. UM, ok, next thing I know it’s in the basket. Then she starts looking at the jackets, not for me, but for herself. All of sudden she is trying them on and asking which one looks best. So now we had a jacket for her in the basket. Then she starts I that I should get a coat.
I need to explain something here. The last thing I need is another coat and Murph is always pointing that out. See, I have 2 coat closets and they are both full. Actually the one closet I can’t even close the door anymore.:guilty:
Now here we are in WoD and she is telling me to buy another coat. I’m telling you the Force was strong with Murph. :darth:
I resisted, but there was this quilted jacket that was nice…:rolleyes1
I need to get a box of candy for work and for Bonnie. So we stop in the food section for a few minutes, before heading to the cashier.
I swear I wasn’t going to buy anything, but I did, I had my own version of the enabler with me. I was blindsided. I was weak. I have no excuse.
There will be pictures of our purchases later on in this report….
I still wanted to see if I could find Mickey pants for Rocky, so went over to the Pooh store where they have a pet section. Unfortunately no Mickey pants were to be found this trip. Sorry Rocky, I tried. But Murph suggests that maybe I should get something else for him.
Now remember how I said I have a lot of coats, yeah, well the pugs have even more toys.
First there is this basket
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dd25b3127cceb59ad0187a7600000026108AaNGbZw4bti
Then this basket
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dd25b3127cceb59ad141bb8700000026108AaNGbZw4bti
Oh and there is this over here
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dd25b3127cceb59ad14a3abc00000026108AaNGbZw4bti
and lastly
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dd25b3127cceb59ad137bbf100000026108AaNGbZw4bti
So as you can see the pugs don't need any more toys and yet Murph is trying to tell me to buy more:scared1:
We also walked around the Xmas store and she almost had me again, but we walked out with no purchases… from this store. Though Murph tried to get me to buy this table top fiber optic Christmas tree. She thought it would be good for the office. I’m telling you I am creating a monster.
Here’s Murph leaving DTD
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dc36b3127cceb57fc172376c00000026108AaNGbZw4bti
We then headed back from to the BW for a nap.
I was up from an afternoon nap before Murph and went down to the BW to check things out. I at least found the gel pens a coworker wanted in the Screen Door. I was tempted to buy some BW merchandise, but didn’t I was good. And I didn’t have the Jersey version of the enabler with me.
After Murph got up from her afternoon nap, we were ready to head over to Epcot. Walking over to Epcot Murph was asking about my DVC points… how much, how long do they last, etc. She could see now why I purchased. I know before hand she had serious doubts about me plopping that kind of money down with Mickey, but her opinion had definitely changed. Is Murph REALLY coming to the Dark side???
We still had time before our ADR at Biergarten, so we took our time wandering around. First we checked out the shops in Morocco, just browsing. Though Murph almost talked me into buying one of those rugs! She kept insisting how nice it would look in my living room. She reminded me how I have been looking for something since I have the wood floors in he living room, :sad2:
Then we went to Italy.
OOH, look at that opal ring, and it’s in my size.
Murph insisted I try it on.
We both agreed it looked great.
Murph said I should buy it.
And you should always listen to your Mother (all right maybe not always, but when it comes to jewelry:rolleyes1 )….
It was getting close to the ADR time, so we headed straight to the podium at Biergarten. We were given a buzzer thingy and told it would be a few minutes. We decided to wander the shops while we waited. First stop the wine shop.
Off topic, briefly… DB#2 used to travel to Germany a lot for business. One Christmas he bought over a bottle of Gluhwein. This is a wine that is served warm, not hot, warm. Murph loves the stuff.
As we walked in she immediately asked if I knew if they served it here. Um, I don’t drink and never come in here, sorry, but let’s ask at the counter. While waiting for a server I noticed on the counter that they do serve it and she can get a glass of it to go.
HMMM, think she is happy with this fact?
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dc36b3127cceb57fd8e7f65d00000026108AaNGbZw4bti
BTW, notice the new coat…
With this the buzzer went off and we were headed to Octoberfest! We were seated with a family of 4 from Cleveland (twin daughters, Mom and Dad) and a father and young son from Vermont. Everyone was very nice and the little boy from Vermont was adorable. He got up and went and danced with all the other kids.
Before we knew it we were up at the buffet sampling a little of everything, including wienersalad. Um, it was different, and I may skip it during Fockerfest. :rolleyes1 The bean salad and cucumber salad were delicious. For the main entrees, they had baked chicken for the non-wiener crowd. I enjoyed the stuffed cabbage, the German Pot Roast and the salmon with dill. There were several soups, but I never got a chance to try any of them.
Murph loved it all, she even pocketed some of the cookies from the dessert table to eat later.:ssst: Murph’s mom was half German and it showed in Murph tonight. I stopped at the candy store to get some chocolate covered pretzels for dessert.
Next up: Murph gets pinned!

They are so cute!! My DS wants a pug so badly. He has a Webkinz Pug name Chad (Pennington). I told him maybe when we don't have Brandy anymore :sad2: . She is just too old for a puppy to be bugging her. Love the webkinz name;)
Ok I'm really starting to get scared about the weinersalad....
:rolleyes1
I don't remember seeing any Mickey pants in January either. :confused3 Have you tried e-Bay? I'll check again if we go in March.
Thanks!
White Mickey ears under the blue die thing? 10 Focker points for you

Hi Mo! I just finished reading your report so far. I'm very interested because DH and I have been trying to get MIL to go with us for a few years now and she has absolutely no interest in going. But, of course, I realize that she just doesn't know what she's missing! So it's great to get to read a TR from someone who was dealing with a similar situation. And you're giving me great ideas on what all we can do with MIL if we ever get her there!
Sorry, I have no pug pics!

I swear I wasn’t going to buy anything, but I did, I had my own version of the enabler with me. I was blindsided. I was weak. I have no excuse.yea Murph!
And you should always listen to your Mother (all right maybe not always, but when it comes to jewelry:rolleyes1 )….Yea jewelry!

:welcome: Oh Murph was so not Disneyfied, she really didn't understand my obsession with it. Glad to be of some help:)

Yes, they are nice, but if I buy another coat, someone will need to perform an intervention!

After dinner we walked around WS and arrived in France in time for the 8:15 movie. We had a short wait where Murph took the opportunity to look at the sketches in the lobby of Notre Dame. Murph was particularly excited to see this movie as she is going to France in April. I don’t know what happened to me but watching this movie it really felt like my equilibrium was off. For those that haven’t seen it, it is not one of those ones you stand in. It is only about 180 degrees and you get to sit in nice comfy chairs. For what ever reason I was getting dizzy watching this movie. Hmm, maybe it was the effect of the wienersalad.:rolleyes1
Before long the movie was over and we exited into the requisite dump shop. Murph decided to look around to see if there was anything she wanted to buy. She was really into seeing all the gift shops now. She had decided to purchase a book she saw, until I pointed out it said AAA on it.:sad2: I told her I would take her to AAA at home and get her a book that would probably be half the price. She agreed and put the book back.
With that it was almost time for Illuminations and we headed over to find a spot between England and France. All night Murph had started asking about the pins she saw CM’s and guests wearing. I explained about pin collecting and trading and she seemed intrigued. After I picked out a spot, (BTW the park was empty and we walked right to the fence to the left of Rose and Crown at about 8:45:yay: ), Murph noticed the pin cart near the Espresso cart. She went over to check it out. A few minutes later I see her walking towards me giggling like a school girl.
Me: What did you do?
Murph: I didn’t do anything, I was just looking, I started talking to the salesman about Kelly and maybe buying her a Hannah Montana pin. Next thing I know he is putting this pin on me and telling me I have to keep it and I have to promise not to give it away.
Me: You know what just happened? You had a Disney Moment, they just don’t give pins away like that.:yay:
Murph: Should I tip him.
Me: He probably realized you aren’t a regular guest and wanted to do something special. Sometimes CM’s do that.
Murph: Oh it wasn’t a character.
Me: All employee’s are Cast member’s as this is a show and everyone has a part in the show.
Murph: OH I get it. That’s great.:cool1:
Murph: I’m going to go back and thank him again.
With that she disappeared again, only to re-appear right as IROE was starting. She was all giggling telling me the CM’s name was Kevin and he was from Ireland. Cute young kid. (I think she was flirting)
Here’s Murph after getting Pinned…

If you haven’t guessed this is #7 on Murph’s top ten
As IROE started I pointed out the globe etc on the water. Her response – Oh, I missed this part last night. Can’t see this from bed.
Did I mention that Murph has a sarcastic side? Yeah, well know you all know where I get it from.;)
After watching another wonderful showing of IROE, we headed for International Gateway and Home. The Friendship boat had just left and I told Murph we would we make it back faster if we walked. She agreed and after a nice walk home we settled into bed.
Next up: Murph gets her character on

And I absolutely love the walk from Epcot back to the resorts. Of course, we were at the YC but still the same nice walk. We never ever took the ferry.
