Nearest Family Beach to Hollywood? Santa Monica? Venice?

Hi all ~ I think we have narrowed down our California plan. Looks like my family wants to plant ourselves at ONE beach hotel/resort for a week and do day trips from there.

Day Trips
* Disneyland
* California Adventure
* Starline Tours
* Walking Tour of Hollywood
* Rest at the beach

Is Santa Monica or Venice very near to Hollywood and easy to get to the other day trip locations? Thanks! Sandra

Santa Monica is 20 miles from Hollywood and Venice Beach is 25 miles approx. It's just a matter of taking a few different freeways from the Hollywood area to the beaches.
