We will be onboard too. My whole family will be there with 4 cabins. Two adults per cabin and 7 kids ranging from 1 to 14 years. I will be there with my DH and DD(9 & 7). This will be our second year in a row to do the 4 day cruise with the whole family. We wanted to do a week cruise, but the Magic will be on the West Coast and that's too far for us to go.

I'm not sure if my girls will go to the kids club or not--they tend to be wimpy when it comes to that. Plus they will have cousins and Grandma and Grandpa along. We're going as a family, so I guess we should send time with family! Actually, all of the cousins get along well so they have a great time.
Since we'll be docked every day, I'm not sure when they'd go. The girls like the shows at night and wouldn't want to miss them. But if they want to go to the kids' program, I'm all for it!

Please add us to the list:thumbsup2 This is my 7th DCL (done the Magic & Wonder) and I just finished up a Mom's only (my sister & I) wonder cruise last Feb.
We are from San Diego and where going to do the Mexican DCL but booking this cruise today w/flights + 3 days at WDW and it stillcomes out cheaper to do the 4 day double dip....plus I love Castaway Cay;)
My family includes my DH (Disney drag along), ME, DD (16) and DS (6).
Looking forward to meeting you all!! is anyone interested in doing a secret Micky? where we put goodies inside the fish extenders...sounds weird but it is super fun and me had a great time on the last cruise...just some ideas.

ps. Does anyone know if there will be a Palo brunch on this cruise since there are no "sea days"?
Thanks

DS and I would like to participate in fish extender/secret mickey...we were originally booked on a 7 day Magic cruise in the fall and had the dis'ers on that thread had one planned. Since we switched to a 4night, wasn't sure if anyone would want to do it.

I was really surprised at the amount of Diser's involved in the fish extender/secret mickey on our 3 day Feb. Wonder cruise. I think 15 Diser's participated and we got so many cute "things" and one Diser from New Orleans even made homemade Pralines for everyone:banana: Even thought on this cruise it was just me and sis all the other Diser's kids loved coming back to their cabins and finding giftspirate:

On my last cruise I just used a little felt type bag that I grabbed for 1.00 at Target and the Diser's would leave little surprises in that. We also did a magnet exchange and that was cool to get a new/different one each night.

Looks like I need to get a fish extender! Maybe DD and I will do a sewing project. What trinkets can a Texan DVCer bring?
DH wants to do the 2:30 tour of the ship on departure day. (It was pouring rain last year and took an extra hour to get to Port Canaveral, so we missed it.) How would a meet work? Have never done one, even though I've been on the DIS since 2001.
DD is happy that the Navigators show that the Teens aren't doing anything until 10:30 on the first day at Castaway Cay. She will be up and moving for the "Wild Side" on the second stop there.
Love AKL. Our main DVC home is BCV, but we added points at SSR before it opened. Would have waited if I'd known about AKV. Love to watch the savanahs.

I want my DD to try that excursion but she is shy and plans on hanging out with us as last time she didn't like the Stack/Loft because the teens seemed older and my DD is still little girlish/shy and not into boys yet. Most of her friends are 14 & 15 yr olds.
I was hoping that she would be able to e-mail some other Dis friends on our cruise thread so that she will know a friend on the ship.
Does anyone have excurions set up for Nassau? I am thinking one of the Catamaran or Black Beard excursions::yes::

My DD was 13 and 3 months last summer and couldn't wait to be with the teenagers. Of course, she has also complained that we never did a cruise when she was younger and now she's too old for the clubs - "and they do fun stuff". Keep talking to your DD, my impression of "the wild side" was it required more stamina than rowdiness. BTYW, my DD's much more into sports than boys. In her opinion, most boys are useless or silly. Her Dad approves. The Loft was OK when they had specific activities, she didn't just hang out there. Once she's through with finals, I'll get her to talk to your DD.
We're in cabin 7626. If everyone wants to meet before the boat drill we can manage, or on deck 10 during sailaway, or on castaway cay. We can meet!

That sounds like me DD, too...she liked the Loft when they had activities otherwise she said some of the teens were "hooking up" and that made her fell uncomfortable. She did enjoy the games and smoothie meets but she also wishes she was younger and could go to the Ocean Lab as they do "fun stuff". My DD is a late bloomer when it comes to typical 16 yr olds but that is fine with me::yes::

:welcome: Glad to see more fellow cruisers aboard! Your going to love the Wonder, she's a beautiful ship and there are so many fun activities to do. Your servers will present your DD with a birthday cake and DCL birthday button in the dining room (make sure you let DCL know your celebrating).
The DIS has a ton of information for first timers and if you google Disney Cruise information you will get alot of other threads w/info.
www.******************* is a great site that has pictures of the staterooms, personal navigators and a ton of great information.
Hope this helps!

Jennifer, I would call DCL just to be sure they have her birthday listed on your reservation and then once on the ship, I would also mention it to your serving team::yes:: DCL also has birthday decorations & cake for your stateroom that you can order online at the DCL website...just another idea.
Having a birthday on DCL is wonderful. My DD, turned 13 on Castaway Cay 3 years ago (lucky duck - great way to remember a 13th b-day);)
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Hello All,
My family and I will be cruising on July 27th with you all. I am a first timer and just booked our trip on Monday(yesterday). Does any expierenced cruiser have tips that will make our first cruise even more awesome or sites/threads I should visit. Also my DD will celebrate her birthday on the 30th is there anything sepcial they do? Thanks for all who help.
Jennifer
Hi Jennifer,
Welcome aboard. My DS will be celebrating his 10th birthday on the 30th. My DD is jealous. Her birthday is in May and we can't do any fun vacations then because of school.

Carol, maybe you can celebrate a late birthday for her on the Wonder. You can have DCL have a cake & button for her on a different day then your son. Just a thought:)
We celebrated my sister's early birthday on our last Feb. cruise (her bithday is April 1st) and the dineing team was fine with it...was a nice time.

How cool is that, celebrating on the same day. She will be nine, not sure I mentioned that, just a year difference between the two. Have you guys made any special plans other then notifing the cruise? We are from Texas too another thing in common:banana:
For the rest of everyone. How much does it cost for Palo?
Jennifer

Palo is 15.00 a person but is soooo worth it:) My DH & I are having dinner there but skipping brunch this time around.
Where in Texas are you from? we almost moved to Austin but my husband didn't end up getting the work transfer. We even went house hunting and I was so floored at what we could have bought in Texas versus here in San Diego.:faint:

There seemed to still be quite a few more opening for Palo dinner on DCL website. They also seem to save reservations for when you board the ship...go straight to Diversions to snag a ressie. I would also recommend the brunch, if you have time. It is so great!!

I want to thank you guys for the great input you have given me so far. I do have a few question that I haven't thought about asking until now and probably a few others will come at a later time.
1. What are the included drink options on board i.e. tea, water, any soft drinks, etc.?
2. How does gratuity/tipping work?
3. How long does it take to get your packet from the cruise ship and what is included. We just booked last Monday?
4. Attire for dinner, what to wear and not to wear?
I think that is it for now. Thanks in advance for your answers
Looking forward to cruising,
Jennifer:yay:

1. What are the included drink options on board i.e. tea, water, any soft drinks, etc.? there is a 24 hour self-serve drink station on top deck next to Mickey pool -includes all Coca-Cola brand soft drinks, tea, milk, coffee...also soft drinks in dining room are also "free" only charge for soft drinks is at the bar or from room service. There are also all kinds of juices at breakfast
2. How does gratuity/tipping work? you can go to w w w disney cruiser dot com for a gratuity guide :D
3. How long does it take to get your packet from the cruise ship and what is included. We just booked last Monday? Usually about two to three weeks before cruise...not too much included in it now and days
4. Attire for dinner, what to wear and not to wear? The 3/4 day cruises are MUCH more casual then 7 day cruises. Nice shirt, summer dress, capri's, blouse, etc. Only Palo is a little more "dressy" .
I think that is it for now. Thanks in advance for your answers
Looking forward to cruising,
Jennifer:yay:
Hope this helps, Jennifer!! great questions! one more tip would be to bring a pilow case, photo matt, canvas bag, for the characters to sign. You can leave it at Guest Services and they will deliver it to you stateroom on the last night...this is free and a great free keepsake:) I have some cute 5X7 photo matts with Mickey and characters signatures from my last cruise.

What are your plans for Nassau? We were going to do Blackbeard island excursion through DCL but are now just thinking of exploring the "Dig" in Atlantis.
Has anyone done the "Dig" on their own and not through Disney? wondering how much the cost is for adult & child.

I have made no plans for any excursions which is unusual for me. We've been and stayed at the Atlantis Resort a few years back. It is amazing and very large. I just am not sure if I want to pay what it costs to use the resort for a day. We've also done the dolphins in Nassau which is fun. On different trips there, we've shopped the straw market and also snorkeled. Some say to stay on the ship and enjoy the peace that day. I've been reading recent trip reports to help me decide.:confused3

JoAnn, do you think the Dig is worth the price? I did a search on the price and I think it's about 29.00 for adult. We have done Atlantis years ago but just went through casino and we have stayed on the ship a few other times. My kids are older now and thought they might enjoy the Dig.
I am undecided:confused:

Honestly, I'm not sure what the dig is, is it the underground aquarium area? I had toured the entire grounds a few years back but I think they have continued to upgrade it. The grounds are great and I know the water park area is great for kids, so if that's what it is, it's definitely worth it.

Yes, the underground aquarium area...sorry, I should have been more clear. I don't want to do the pools and slides. Just wanted to see the aquarium and head back to the ship to hang out & eat:)

I was wondering if anyone is familiar with Nassau and Atlantis? I am getting a little worried looking at the boards and see that is has rained on the day the ship is in Nassau and looking at the Forecast it looks like it will do the same this week. We rented a room at Comfort Inn in hopes to use Atlantis. I don't want to waste money if we won't get to use waterpark due to weather. Do they close atlantis when raining. Is it like Florida and rains in spurts? Any help would be appreciated, if I am going to cancel room I need to do it by next Monday.
