I love the Under Armour sausage shorts. I get the ones that are a little longer.

Hmmm... My new favorites are my Race Ready shorts. I've worn them in a half and a full. They have mesh pockets in the front, sides and back. I can fit my cellphone, 4 gels, and my camera in the pockets (there's room for more). The camera was a tight fit, so I ended up carrying it in my hand for the full- I doubt I'd take my camera anywhere but Disney. I just liked not having to deal with a belt bouncing on my bladder for miles and miles... I do try to avoid using the side pockets so I won't look really wide in pictures. :rolleyes1 I'm wearing them in the picture with Chip (or Dale?)
I'm wondering if we can get them to make the shorts in the same color as our shirts- then I could be a vision in all-over lime green!

I love a pair of Nike's they are called Tempo Track short. They are short but they are the most comfortable pair I own. Plus it looks like with the new spring colors they have bright green. :thumbsup2 But I have to classify this as well, I am 5'2" and skinky.

Thanks!
I second the Race Ready shorts. Plus, there are two style options, v-split or full split.
The only wish I have for Race Ready Shorts are that they come in more colors, solid colors :).

New Balance, not sure of the model but they are v-front and have flared legs. A little on the shorter side but really comfortable to run in. Second favorite, Nike Tempos, love em too. The NB comes in more colors, same ones as the running skirts. Kind of like buying a suit for me, oooh, I can get the jacket, and shorts, and skirt and pants. Yay me!!!!

I liked that RR had pockets - I truly need pockets -
but someone 'splain to me why women's shorts have to be so gosh darn short?!! :confused3
Right now - I'm wearing cheap ones from Target to train in - my special Disney ones to race in - I just bought a pair of what my sons called "compression shorts" to wear "under" the short shorts to prevent "chaffing" - but they wont work with my Disney shorts (which are guy shorts, so they have underwear built in - do guys go commando in those things? I cant!! TMI again, Shan what is it with you??! ! :rotfl2: )
so basically I dont have a good woman's running short yet!! I'll probably end up with RR and the compression (think girdle btw yes, its like an old fashioned girdle thank you very much!! I'M OLD :rotfl2: not AARP old yet!! ) short to prevent the chafing, and for good "coverage" :sad2:

Right now my favorite pair are Adidas 3/4 length. I hate the short shorts, they tend to ride up a little more than I like. LOL They don't have pockets so I carry a water bottle that has a wrist holder/pocket for my key, money, or ID.
I think I like them more because the waist band doesn't pinch me as much as some of the other shorts.

I like the tight fitness type shorts as opposed to blousy type shorts. Right now I have about 4 pairs of them from Target (I think they are Champion) that have a zipper pocket in the back. They are kinda on the shorter side (about mid thigh) but I only paid $4 a piece for them and they are comfortable. The top band is a yellow/green color similar to the WISH t-shirts so that made them even better!! I have one pair of Under Armor fitness type shorts and also one that is made by Champion that come a little longer (maybe to just below the main part of the thigh)
Sandy - for the shorts that have underwear built in is it possible to carefully cut the underwear out so that you can wear your "girdle" type shorts underneath?
Always an interesting topic here!! LOL

Tricia - I just wear my regular undies, then the shorts with built in shorts - :rotfl2: I think I"m so used to the extra layer it would feel strange without it!!
Its kinda like the guys swimsuits - that extra layer - but it would feel just wrong for me!! :rotfl2:
(and its all Shan's fault!!) :rotfl2:

ugh. I hate shorts, well not really, I hate my legs and would love to have cute legs so I could wear cute shorts...but alas, not yet. I tend to wear Nike Dry-fit pants or some old cotton workout capri from Wal-mart. I really would like to find some compression shorts that are not too short. I think we may stop by Dick's sporting goods tonight and see what they have. I've seen some online and looked at Race Ready's compression shorts, but I don't know what inseam length I need to get... Who knew this could be so complicated! :goodvibes
Maybe one day I can wear "real" running shorts! :goodvibes

Tricia/Sandy: I cut the extra undies out. Hate them. I do have some New Balance 2-in-1 shorts which have the soft compression shorts underneath (same as the skirts) and I love them. What I don't like is the bunchiness that I get after I start to sweat, not the compression shorts, the outside layer bunches and then the compression shorts show. Hence my moving to a skirt.
So, Shan, mental note, no NB 2-in-1 shorts either.

I'm sorry Sandy!
Sooo, my running skirts are all the sudden driving me insane. The shorts underneath totally bunch up when I run. I was thinking I might just try a pair of shorts, but I'm very worried about them riding up and chafing. I really don't want to have to wear compression shorts underneath if possible.
I did look around online and I kept reading the Nike Tempo shorts over and over... Apparently, they are Nike's top selling short? I might give them a try, they aren't that expensive compared to these I was looking at -

I'm in LOVE with my Brooks Motion Crops so I was thinking about giving the Brooks shorts a try. These look a tad longer so I thought that might help with the chafing... I do have a tummy, though that I particularly don't want to be showcasing... :confused3

No shorts for me at all. :scared1: I like my skirts!!! I have quite a collection now, too.
Who said this sport was free? :confused3

Shan - I know you worry about chaffing but I can't say enough about wearing skirts that just have the built in panties instead of the shorts inside. I am totally one to get chub rub, but with a healthy application of Body Glide it honestly isn't an issue. And then you don't have to keep tugging the shorts down while you are running!
I have a gazillion Skirt Sports Gym Girls - but honestly these are my favorites:

Leana, I was actually really wanting the Minnie print Running Skirts has, but it only comes in the brief. So I haven't ordered it. I dunno... I'm scared! :lmao: It seems like I would get tore up??? :confused3

Nike Tempo is my absolute favorite!!!
However, i also really like the Brooks Sherpa and the Sugoi Verve. The Sherpa is longer and super light and airy. The Sugoi is quite short but has a nice feel and fit.
I just bought my first running skirt....saw it on the rack at TJ Maxx of all places. It's a Brooks skirt and I really like the fit. Not sure how I'll feel about it when running but i have high hopes! :goodvibes

I love that running skirt website - they actually have POCKETS!! its a little pricey for me, but I can see how many would love them (did I mention they have pockets!!) I dont know about the big girls - I cant see how it could in anyway prevent chafing!! NEVER mind - I just saw they have an athletic style that has the longer compression short!!
OK, so the Disney men short I was trying to describe that has the built in "panty" (LOL they are men's shorts) arent too tight - but I have to say that when I run with these particular shorts, they ride up just right so it stops the chafing - I also use a healthy dose of body glide - or the gold bond powder also works well for me (for short runs tho! Body Glide longer runs) I have the longer compression short because it was on sale (I cant pay full price for something unless I know it will work)
Good Luck Shan, and keep us posted!!

Has anyone tried this instead of the Body Glide?
http://www.monistat.com/soothingcare/products_chafing_gel.htm
This looks like it might be easier to apply... :confused3
OK, I went and tried on some shorts yesterday. The tighter ones made my tummy look awful and the looser ones I ran in place in front of the mirror and they all rode up! I tried on the Nike Tempos, too.
I'm thinking I might try the running skirt brief instead of the shorts underneath I've bought and use the gel and see what happens.
I just know I need to find something and run in it a few times before my half next month. I had been running in my pants, but by late March in Atlanta it can be hot.

so for running in hot conditions would you guys recommend tight shorts or relaxed fit ones? It's not hot very often here and i'm trying to work out what to get for the minnie (which i'm guessing will be humid). Sorry for thread stealing, but i think it's still relevent to OP

for the half - I ran in shorts that tended to "ride up" then stay put!! I love those shorts!!
I know a couple that wore the compression shorts under the skirts - but cant answer whether it was too hot or not - I bought a pair to wear underneath other shorts -
I think it may be up to each one of us to figure out what works best - but its time to find out!!

Shan - I haven't seen that other product but it looks interesting. If you give one of those skirts a try let me know how you like it. As I mentioned, I have definite "thigh rubbing" issues but the only time I've ever had a chaffing problem was in the full when I rubbed biofreeze on my legs at mile 16 and it dissolved the body glide....oops! It was a painful mile or so to the next med tent with vaseline...:scared:

Got out a smaller pair I had of the skirtsports this morning. Felt a little tight, but thought I'd give them a try. This pair has a gripper on the bottom of the legs? (Different from my other pairs.) Anyway, they worked fine for 3 miles. :thumbsup2 These might be what I wear for my half. I did break down and buy a pair of the Nike Tempo today. I'll give them a try. I ended up buying a size smaller than I normally wear cause they looked so balloony on me??? :confused3 Tomorrow I won't be able to run so if it is warm enough on Tuesday I'll give them a run and report back how it went. :surfweb:

Got an email - Skirtsports has changed their style. They are now $64! and it says the shorts underneath fit tighter, comes standard now with two pockets and supposedly has a tummy tuck effect! (I like that!)
Course, I can't justify buying another one of these so I'll be very curious to hear if anyone does and what they think. :thumbsup2

Shan- This doesn't help you for your half, but last year skirtsports ran some good specials. Don't quote me but I think they did 1/2 off for Mother's Day. I think Leana would spot the special and post it. I have a bunch of skirts and never paid full price.
