I've noticed there are some major March Break/Spring Break changes in the works this year. Is it just the USA, or are Canadian kids losing the old "March Break" and having the week long holiday in April? :confused3
I was thinking of asking DH about doing a trip in April, but with the majority of US kiddos off during various weeks in April instead of March... I'm going to rethink that idea.

Spring Break in the state of Georgia is usually the first week of April.
The weeks vary according to state.

While not the same as public schools .. this website lists the Spring Break dates for Canadian and American universities and you can see that it covers a wide range of dates.. and how many students are on vacation in total for each week.

I think the elementary schools (at least in Ontario) are still keeping March Break. However, because Easter was so early this year the breaks seem to blend together ... making for 2 weeks of holidays for vacationers.
In the US, the "break" holiday varies. Some schools give a week in Feb. for President's "day/week" and then a week around Easter. Some give a week in November like Jersey week.
We're going in late April, and I've heard that's "spring" break for the Northeast US. Yeah :sad2:
Basically, no matter which week you go, you're going to find some school holidays ... and if you don't the place will be busy with homeschooled children

Argh!
Well now DH is totally not going to be impressed if I arm twist a trip and then the place is filled with kids on Break.
 I think I may just have to slightly ignore the fact I had this information in ADVANCE and play dumb.

We've been going to WDW for March Break for years and we usually go the week before Canadian March Break and then the week of March break (so first and second week of March). The difference the first week to the second is amazing! I can honestly say it doubles in the parks!
I looked at the school schedule posted but this is for colleges and universities and I am not so sure those kids are flocking to WDW. I find it is the highschool breaks that drive the crowds and last year our CDN March Break was the same as Florida's so it was busier.
I think the best gage is to look at the park hours - if they are opening and closing later than normal, they KNOW there will be larger crowds than normal so you know you are hitting it at a busy time.
But given Easter is in March and not April, there is alot of "recession" talk in the US, and there is always the fast pass......I think you'll have a great time in April!!

I'm holding a room only reservation right now with Disney for April 2nd to 8th. When I spoke with two different CM's yesterday, although the first couple of weeks were supposed to be "low crowds", they are now at record capacity for the time frame thanks to US spring breaks and the 20-40% promo/pin offers. So, we've been warned... I had to tell DH, so we'll see what we end up deciding...
We're used to visiting in December, although we have been there in high season May and June, so at least know what the lines can be like :scared1:

We are thinking of going March break 2009. We have our March Break the first week of March. We are crossing our fingers and hoping that it will not be as crowded. Any feed back is welcomed:goodvibes

We will be there April 7-11th (short trip, just DS and I) and I am also a little leary of the crowds. Hoping for the best but thinking it might be pretty jammed.
