My husband and mother are slot machine junkies and are wondering if any of the Western ports have a casino. Does anyone have any info on that? thanks Beth

There is a facility at Grand Cayman that calls itself a Resort & Casino, but I'm not sure if they actually have gaming there or if it's "just a name". No casinos at Key West or Cozumel.

Does anyone know anything about this place? My family will be disappointed if they can't find any gambling--I guess they'll have to stick to bingo!

I was e-mailing with a car rental agency on Grand Cayman and I was asking him why it seemed the cruise ships leaved so early from port and he guessed it was their lack of casinos on the island and the cruise lines wanting the guests to play on the cruise ships. I told him Disney didn't have any on-board. He told me that Grand Cayman was going have a vote on casinos, but the locals would NOT be allowed to gamble there. It's such a beautiful island with so many thing to visit and just enjoy, I wish we stayed longer. As for the casino issue, they might have one now. I don't know when they were going to vote.

Dave...
What's the name of the hotel/casino? The vote might have been positive on casinos. Or maybe this guy just has stars/money in his eyes. Once people start visiting the island with first hand knowledge we'll know for sure.

I thought it was the Hyatt, but I just looked at the Hyatt's site and couldn't find any mention of it. So it looks like the Western itinerary is (for now) casino-free.

Making a casino available for tourists only (not available to the island's citizens) would not be unprecedented. That's true for the casinos in the Bahamas and in Monaco.
